Speaker 1It wasn't as hard as I thought . Actually it was pretty , pretty easy . It was fun . I heard it's hard , had a few beers . I heard it's hard doing it . No , I think it's just . Uh , it's more like a science there's you gotta make sure the measurements of the , the lard , the chile and the masa and the water , just yeah , it's like bacon almost .
Speaker 2That's a lot , man . Mad work , yeah , mad work . I'd rather just eat it . Definitely , definitely .
Speaker 1But anyway , how was yours I ?
Speaker 2spent it with the family , we spent it at home , we ate dinner and we just , you know , started talking about the past and we did a little gambling there , like we paid 21 . Sounds dangerous , which is actually pretty cool . Actually , it was me and a couple of it was my nephew , my son and one of our what ? My sister-in-law's boyfriend .
Speaker 1People from Houston right yeah from Houston . Yo a day away . People from Houston right yeah from .

That's dope , that was dope .
Speaker 2Man , I'm a true believer of manifestation so manifesting , putting the positive energy out there is always a good thing . It also makes me feel good . I don't know , maybe it's therapeutic , who knows ?
Speaker 1however , I was talking crazy man .
Speaker 2I was just like man , small talking going , but it's gonna definitely succeed , man . It's out there and I'm just glad that the people are listening and and enjoying it and we're gonna keep on doing , doing it until we can . Yeah , for sure .

Speaker 1Yeah . So stay tuned , people , Stay tuned . Absolutely All right . So let's get rolling
New Year Traditions and Superstitions
Speaker 1. Come on New Year's , so do we eat grapes ? Yes , we do . We eat 12 grapes at New .
Speaker 2Year's Correct . Yes , yes , we eat 12 grapes . I don't know exactly how that works . Instead of , like you know , my mother telling me we eat for every grape we make a wish .
Speaker 1I think it is . I think it's for each grape it's for each month .
Speaker 2Ah , so you say a wish for each grape , really ? Yeah , no , I thought it was just a wish . I was like hey , I wish for this , I wish for that , I wish for that ?
Speaker 1Do you put all the grapes in your mouth ? I did that at the beginning . A yo , one and two , or do you go one by ?
Speaker 2one . The first time . I did it because , you know , I never I didn't know what it was . I just saw grapes in the cup and I was hungry , so I just , yeah , I demolished them . And my mother's like what are you doing ? I'm like I'm hungry , I'm eating grapes . She's like this is for a specific reason . And then she just told me that for each grape , you make a wish . Yeah , even a wish . Yeah , even my mother wasn't right . So , yeah , look at that .
Speaker 1So I mean I I don't know if you have to eat it within the minute of before it turns 12 or 1 , so you got to eat it within a minute . Yeah , like in 30 seconds .
Speaker 2I mean that's doable , it's 30 , it's 12 grapes in 30 seconds like in 30 seconds , because then like right , right , when we hit 10 seconds , then we have to like stop and do the countdown . What do you mean ?
Speaker 1Like 10 . Oh no , it's right at 12 . You got to eat the grapes , oh really , yeah , it's right at 12 .
Speaker 2That's what I'm saying the many times that I did this the wrong way , oh good .
Speaker 1Anyway , yeah . So we eat the grapes and make 12 wishes .
Speaker 2So for the people out there that don't know about these 12 grapes , how can we summarize them for them ? I'm not going to do it , but this is you , because apparently I did it all wrong .
Speaker 1No , I mean I think I just did . Yeah , you just got to eat the 12 grapes at 12 o'clock and you have to make a wish and for each grape it represents one month of the year . I got it , okay , something got it Okay Something like that . I think I'm correct , okay .
Speaker 2Fair . It's easy enough yeah , easy enough to do what the hell is with eating lentils . I have no idea what that is .
Speaker 1You know what ? This is a new one to me , ashley . I was doing some research Sorry for the mics , I'm not really sure what's going on Doing some research , and it's very big . In the South America side of things , they eat lentils in order . It's a sign of health because the shape of the lentils are in the shape of a coin , so it's a financial success throughout the 12 months . It also makes a good dish . I love lentils .
Speaker 2It's healthy . I love lentils too . I eat lentils when it's a cold day , so yeah , yeah , cool , and then yeah . Yeah , and for everybody out there , I don't know if you heard about this , but there's also like , like clothing involved , you know , with colors , especially underwear , and apparently those colors represent something . So , for example , you're wearing a red underwear , you're representing love , all right .
Speaker 2So if you want to fall in love , love , put on some red chones and you do it para todos los pinches enamorados ahí que quieren ahí se quieren enamorar ahí está cabrón , pon unos calzones rojos y órale lo más que no estén ahí cachondos , bien respetados , respetosos , shit man . And then the yellow underwear is for happiness . So you know , so you wear yellow . You know you're a happy person , you know , you just want to .
Speaker 1And on the , if you can find one that has every single color , go for it . Why not ?
Speaker 2Yep , yep , yep , yep . That's a , that's a cool . That's a cool one for me , and it was something that my mother told me a long time ago , so it's pretty cool .
Speaker 1Now I wonder , wonder , is this ? I'm sure this relates to both men and women , but do you think , uh , it have to , it has to be new underwear . Or does it have to be old , or it doesn't matter , it could be old , but it has to be fucking clean . Do your laundry ?
Speaker 2yeah , we don't want no dirty yeah the only . The only way you're gonna see me With a dirty underwear in my head or anywhere in my body Is cuando mi pinche abuela Me está limpiando , porque I'm pinche . There's evil out there and my grandmother , god you know , I'm blessed . I still have my grandma Cuando me limpia . Los canzones tienen que estar Los más sucios , sin nada madre . So , that's the only time I'm going to wear dirty-ass underwear . Yeah , you got to clean yourself .
Speaker 1Moving on from the underwear talk .
Speaker 2I can't try it now , Definitely .
Speaker 1yeah , we can't . But all you people that want to fall in love , just sit under the table . Hopefully you'll find somebody .
Speaker 2Yeah , definitely for me too . Definitely this is a new one to me , but the next one actually is something I know . So walking , walking the suitcase , so it's kind of manifesting . You know , more travels , you know .
Speaker 1Yeah , that's also . I've never heard of this one . This one is new to me , but it's supposed to be very big in Mexico , apparently . You . But it's supposed to be very big in Mexico . Apparently you're supposed to go in around the block with your suitcase and they have to be clean yes , which , like Will said , it manifests as more travel .
Speaker 2You know it just gives you the option and the opportunity to travel for the new year . And then , speaking of cleaning clothes , another one that is really , really popular in Mexico is , you know , before the year begins , clean your underwears , clean your clothes . Everything has to be clean your house , your clothing especially .
Speaker 1Yeah , you know what ? Last year I actually I , I did it like I washed my clothes were all washed , my house was clean , my car was clean , which was , uh , you know , after a while I got a little expensive there , spending mad money on fucking .
Speaker 2it's crazy , it's cool though I learned this actually from my mother-in-law . I didn't learn it from my mom . I didn't know about this until I um , I moved . I moved in with my wife and then my mother-in-law moved in with us and then that's what that first year that we , that we celebrated , she's like yo , you guys got to clean your , your house and your and your clothes , and I'm like what ?
Speaker 1that's mad work do you think it's just a mexican thing , or you think that they ? I know all these things that we're talking about is definitely practiced , uh , throughout all latin america , but there's certain ones that mexicans take it more to heart than others I think .
Speaker 2So I mean it could be . It could be in many reasons why this happened . You know suspicious , you know things that you know people you know tend to believe in mexico got a lot of those . So I mean their culture has a lot of those you know . But I like it because you know it's like starting new , starting starting at the right foot , and and it gives you yeah , yeah , it just gives you a head start , I guess .
Speaker 1Yeah , a new start to the new year . Yeah , start of the new year , start of the new year .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1I like it , I dig it , why not ? Y también en la noche , su besito con su mujer También También .
Speaker 2Oui , oui , oui , oui , that's a universal tradition También . You know lo hacen en otras culturas . But it's like when the ball drops or when it hits midnight , you know everyone has to be with a significant other , or not even . You can just pick anybody and be like , hey , let's make out , why not ?
Speaker 1but that's a cool one , yeah yeah , I mean , show your love to your ladies or anybody , just you know , give them a nice hug , a nice kiss .
Speaker 2It's the beginning of love and you want to express that , and the underwear I think is hilarious .
Speaker 1Yeah , I should know more about the sitting on the table .
Speaker 2I would have done that like 10 , 12 years ago , but that's a cool one . Why ? Just because I want to see what the hell that really does happen , just for the fun of it . You know what I mean . But yeah , the 12 graves is also something that we do . It's not going to change . And yeah , and then for me it's having a clean house and clean clothes . So that's a tradition in my household . So you know we're going to do that again and we're excited , man . Tradition in my household . So you know we're gonna do that again and we're excited , man . The new year is gonna be awesome man . I have I have a lot , a lot of faith for this one man . You know what this year for me was ? Really a roller coaster ride . It was really ups , a lot of ups , a lot of downs . Um , I learned a lot .
Speaker 1You know , was it more ups than downs , or was it more ? You know I'm a very positive person , man .
Speaker 2So even if I were , even if they say there were more downs than ups , man , I take those because you know I learn from them . It's a learning experience , man . You always learn something . And so you know it wasn't what I expected , compa . Really it really wasn't . You know , I was expecting a great year this year , but it really turned out to be something more of a learning curve . But I truly believe that things happen for a reason , carnal and and and and . Then , with this podcast , you know it's happening for a reason , you know and yeah , I mean , it also opens up more doors .
Speaker 1You know you , you hit a bump in the road . You know what ? All right , let's , let's , let's close this door and let's open up another one , and that other one can bring something , even it's all mental for you .
Speaker 2people out there , man , man , they think that you know the doors are closed , man , you just got to have that mental note , bro , you know , and I think I hope you feel the same way bro .
Speaker 1Yeah , I mean yeah for sure , stay positive . I mean we had which actually we closed back in a couple of weeks ago it should be two weeks on Friday , you know , and you know , but we were looking to brighter , bigger , better things , my team and I , and we're excited for this next journey that we're doing , which is going to be really good .
Speaker 2Man , I'm excited for you guys . Man , I think that , like you said , you know , a door closes , another one opens . So you people out there , man , they , you know , had a rough year this year . Man , don't , don't sweat it , don't , don't , don't , don't even think about it , that's it . It happened , it's the past . You know , you can't , you can't look back , man . You got to look for the future and what's ahead of you , focus on what past and , believe me , if you manifest that it's going to happen , For sure . Stay positive .
Speaker 1That's the key .
Speaker 2Stay positive , stay positive .
Speaker 1Do you have any New Year resolutions for this ?
Speaker 2year man , I have a lot , but the first thing that I always wish is just my family to be healthy , my family to be safe . It's , you know , it's my family to be healthy , my family be safe . You know I have two little ones um , that that's neat . They need my guidance and so you know , uh , you know , I'm hoping that I'm healthy and and be there for my kids . You come to my household . It's like you got toys everywhere . Freaking clothes aren't we have dirty clothes . You know , like we don't do our , our , our laundry . Now we used to do it every week , one , like every every other week . Now it takes like a month , man , we had like four bags that we need to wash . Man , like it is crazy man , but I wouldn't like .
Speaker 1You know , it's a beautiful thing . Watch , watch your kids grow up .
Speaker 2It's amazing , but it's heck , man there's . You know , I never thought that naps would be one of the best things , and it is Like those parents out there they know what I'm talking about . Those naps take advantage , especially when the kids are sleeping . I love naps , but yeah , but that's what I'm doing , that's what I , you know , I'm keeping it simple , you know , I just hope that I have health and that's it , man , because once you have health , everything else falls into place . But another thing that I also wanted to share with you guys as well is , you know , I want to express the fact that , you know , I also hope that this podcast goes into a different level , man , and I totally , totally wish that this just manifests into another , another beast , you know yeah , ditto , ditto for the podcast .
Speaker 1Um , for me , I , I , I'm same thing . I'm trying to , you know , get healthier . Just health is my main focus for my I hope , my family's healthy , and just praying for them to stay healthy throughout the whole year , and so on and so forth , and excited for the project that we're doing with my business partners as well . That's sweet , that's right , that's right , are you sharing anything ? Not , yet Not yet . Don't want to share anything yet , I'm just using my journalist , uh , but just stay tuned , uh , for for the future , for
New Year Resolutions for Wellness
Speaker 1us .
Speaker 2Well , we speak about health , right like and what's the first thing that people think about when you want to stay healthy ?
Speaker 1well , you know . Well , you know what . It's funny . You say that because you know in the top resolutions , like throughout the past couple of years , has been doing more exercise Doing more exercise .
Speaker 2Exactly , dude , I was telling you January , man , you're going to see a lot of memberships in every gym , every gym .
Speaker 1They actually just opened one up around my neighborhood and you know there wasn't nobody in there . Actually I went in there today and it was pretty dead . But watch tomorrow or the day after tomorrow she's going to be packed .
Speaker 2Packed , it's always happened in January , and then little by little , it starts kind of slowly declining .
Speaker 1I don't know , man . I think people are out there . They're pursuing their same thing their health and trying to stay healthy .
Speaker 2I think their health and trying to stay healthy . I think so too . I think so too . I think people are really are more well informed , and so I hope that this year , you know , many people take that route and start going to the gym getting healthier . You know what I gotta do that man . I'm winning . We ain't getting any younger man , bro . You're telling me everything hurts .
Speaker 2I woke up yesterday my body hurts like a truck hit me and I was like what this is 40 , jesus christ yeah , so losing weight is definitely another one that people tend to have a resolution for eat a better diet so do you think that ? Let me ask you a question do you think that diet goes hand in hand with exercise ?
Speaker 1I think you have to stay consistent on both . Yeah , I think you have to eat better . What's up ?
Speaker 2with all these like different diets that are going on man . But I guess we I mean , you know I'm probably opening another door that we probably won't even finish , but you know , I think that diet is really tricky . I think I feel like if you just eat , you know a consistent , you know diet which there's like protein and vegetables and fruit , keep it simple , you know , don't , don't overthink it .
Speaker 1Yeah , make it easy on yourself . That way you can accomplish it Correct . And then save money , bro , save money is huge . A lot of people um have that as a new year , new year's resolution . Gotta keep that that bank ready .
Speaker 2You know I don't agree with that . Sometimes , though , saving money I feel like saving money could be tricky in the sense that , well , if you're gonna save your money , man , at least save it in a way where , like , it's generating money to you right , and what I mean by that , you know , is just save your money , man . At least save it in a way where , like , it's generating money to you right , and what I mean by that is , you know , is just put your money to work , like for people that know what I'm talking about there . You know what I mean . I'm not going to go into details about it , but you know , saving money can be a little tricky as well , but you know it's also good to save . You never know .
Speaker 1Family save . You never know . Family emergencies is always . Uh , those always , those always come , man , there's always something you might might need to throw some somebody lend somebody a hand , for whatever reason . But yeah , I think having some money saved in the bank is is pretty important .
Speaker 2And then go ahead , uh , pursuing a career ambitious . You know everybody out there that is looking for , for , for a different route , different career , man , yo go for it , jump . You know it's it's , it's my home , don't doubt it . You know , just do it , man . And if and if it doesn't work out , well , guess what ? You know why ? And and you go a different route . But don't give up on your dreams , on your passion it never .
Speaker 1It never hurts to try , you know , even if you know you think you might fail , maybe you you might not fail . Just go out there and just bang it out and see what , where it takes you moving along , quit smoking , my guy quit smoking that's a good one . I quit smoking six , six years ago .
Speaker 2Let's go . What's that clap ? What's that clap buying ? Thank the lord .
Speaker 1I'm not going to lie . I did take a . I took a drag a couple of weeks ago .
Speaker 2That don't count . Yeah , yeah , the fuck up . I you know what , guys , now that we're talking about quitting man , I quit smoking what ? 12 years ago . So hey , that's the clap .
Speaker 1I was looking for . Sorry , these , these buttons are . Some of them are louder than others .
Speaker 2I am bowing down to everyone . Thank you , thank you , thank you . It was hard , bro . I'm not going to lie , but it's doable , it's doable .
Speaker 1Yeah , for sure , for sure . I just went cold turkey . I just stopped smoking , I just stopped buying cigarettes and I was just I'm not going to smoke anymore . And it happened .
Speaker 2Cigarettes are expensive . Now too , man .
Speaker 1Well , at least here in the north really really . Yeah , like I went to orlando a couple of months ago hella , smokers , everybody's out there puffing , puffing , puffing . Out here in new york you see a lot of that way less . I don't know how it is in the west coast , but I'm sure that there's a lot of people that go to the gym in the west coast . Yeah probably .
Speaker 2I don't mean I don't know , I wouldn't know , man , but for everybody out there that want to stop smoking , man , you know we recommend it , we encourage it . It changed my whole life . Um , I could breathe better for once . But also , it's just , it's good , it's healthy . Man , you know we need the lungs . You know it's the air we breathe , you know . You know , take care of yourself , guys . You know you gotta live longer . All right , decorating your house is another decorating your house , that's right . You know fixing it up right yeah , remodeling or whatever .
Speaker 1That's another big one that people like to do it's like a , it's like a new start .
Speaker 2Right , you want to change things around , you know , because maybe you know the old way was kind of like negative , negative and everything . So you know you want to decorate it before , just want to bring in some exactly , that's the one new energy , burn the sage pinching it here .
Speaker 2You know which is not which . We all need facts , yeah , uh , learn a new skill or hobby . Guess what ? I'm learning a new skill . Right now I'm talking on a microphone podcast , podcasting , having a conversation with one of my best friends that I've been knowing for a really long time , and you know what is one of the most exciting , exciting experiences of a lifetime .
Speaker 1I wouldn't change it for a world , bro yeah , this is it's , it's great , this is , uh , it's a new thing for us and I'm I can't , I can't wait to keep it keep on going .
Speaker 2We encourage you , man , anything out what you guys are doing with your . You guys have something to that you got in mind and you want to . You know .
Speaker 1Uh , go for it , please do cut back , cut back on drinking a big one , big one . That's that popped up in in in my google search ah , that's right , man the liver drink the liver , the liver's gonna tell you man , liver will tell you . So if you guys are heavy drinkers , no cut back a little bit .
Speaker 2Yeah , cut back a little bit , because you know it's uh , it's gonna be , it's gonna be uh very beneficial for you , for sure , for sure . And then , lastly , was spending more time with the family and friends . Wait , hold on before we get , oh , volunteering I skipped it , you're right .
Speaker 1Yeah , volunteering apparently is a big one out there . If you guys volunteer , god bless y'all .
Speaker 2Uh , we should probably do more of that as well . Have you ever had a uh an experience , man , when you volunteer ?
Speaker 1no man I've . I can't say that I have , but I , I would you lie , I would like to . I know , I know you did .
Speaker 2Where Tabla Hospice ? Oh yeah , You're right . Come on , man , you're right , come on , you're right . That's true . I know it's true because you know we did that . You know , back in our old , the first restaurant that we worked well , not the first restaurant we worked in , they used to do hospice man and we used to volunteer man , beautiful . It was one of the greatest experiences of my life so much fun .
Speaker 2It humbled us yeah it humbled us to the core , feeding good older people that you know need more , need help . It wasn't even older people , just people that are dying man , but you know what they ? No , no , when I'm trying to say this , it's like they know they're dying man , but they full of life yeah , there's a lot of energy in there in those areas think about that .
Speaker 2You know you're dying and they're showing you full of life . Man , that gotta humble you , you know , I mean and and that that changed me . So I'm I was really , really , really , uh , really happy when I did that and it was funny because we , we , we were .
Speaker 1it was an indian restaurant and you know a lot of these older , older folks , an Indian restaurant and a lot of these older folks , they can't eat a lot of these spices . So most of the food that we used to take , nine times out of ten they wouldn't eat it because it was either spicy or too much spices , and they have a restricted diet , so we would have to , unfortunately , throw most . Actually , no , a lot of the staff would take it and and enjoy it , but like the , the actual people in the hospice , they weren't what are you gonna do ?
Speaker 2but it was really a great , great experience . It was a good experience , I told yes , to answer your question .
Speaker 1Yes , I have , we have you lied I wish . I wish we could volunteer a little more absolutely , absolutely .
Speaker 2You know what . We know what we should , we should and we will Community service and we will and we will . We got you know what I mean . We got good plans , you know . We got plans out there and hopefully one of those plans would be , you know , volunteering , you know , for a good cause . So that's going to be one of our Wait . I'm in your daughter's school . No , Am I making that up ? I volunteer in the community . I used to be a coach for a little league team .
Speaker 1Oh yeah , there you go For free too . Yeah , for free , man .
Speaker 2You know , just for the love of the game .
Speaker 1Good experience , good experience , I was with you .
Speaker 2Yeah , you were with me , man . Exactly , we had a picture together in my first team , listen , and my first team listen . The greatest experience I ever had teaching 10 year olds how to play the game of baseball , the game I love , um , is priceless , and the 10 year olds are the ones that take it to the fully expressive . You know they , they love the game , they play for fun . You know they don't play for money and yeah , that was that was .
Speaker 1That was super fun . Thank you for letting me join you on that . Watching those kids play brought so much joy to me . It was dope .
Speaker 2It was dope .
Speaker 1Yep , yep Spending more time with your family .
Speaker 2That's a huge one .
Speaker 1That's a huge one man , friends , family Give them a buzz you haven't seen them in a long time . Like hey , what up , how you doing For real .
Speaker 2Call your mom . Definitely call your mom . Call your mom , call your dad . Dude , you know we take that shit for granted , man . There's a lot of people out there that don't have their parents , man , and you know what it takes . You know . Take the opportunity , man . Call your mom , call your dad , tell them you love them , cause you never know , you never know when .
