Sports Podcast Episode Recap

Speaker 1

hello , hello world . Uh , I want to welcome everybody to episode . This is number six . Uh , excited to be here . We've been , uh , we've been mia for a little bit . You know , life gets involved , we , we , we actually have jobs . Actually I don't have a job so I literally have no excuse , but I , my compadre over here has a job and you know it's two of us that make this wonderful podcast that you guys listen to on a , hopefully , on a weekly basis . We will get more consistent throughout time . You know , once we well once .

Speaker 2

one , when we find somewhere more cozier , which I think that's a little along the road , and two , when we uh a set schedule for each of us the meantime , we're just pivoting every movement that we make um and if you feel like you know we're just transparent , we're just trying to be transparent with you guys just want to make sure that you guys know that if we're not producing consistency , it's not that we don't want to , just that you know things happen . But we'll get there ?

Speaker 1

yeah , definitely , but any , any who come by . We're talking about sports today . How you feel about that ? We're talking about uh , I'm excited I guess a little bit of baseball , a lot of baseball a lot of baseball , yeah , a little bit of the of the super bowl yeah , and maybe a little bit nba , why not ? Sure yeah , see , we'll start with the super bowl . I guess what ? You think I know that was like two weeks ago now .

Speaker 2

Right , we're a little late . Yeah , it wasn't that good , it was boring .

Speaker 1

Do you say that because you are a Giants fan and you hate the Eagles ? No , no right , because you respect the game . I respect the game and I think that you know Kansas City Chiefs should be ashamed of themselves .

Speaker 2

That's an understatement . No , they play horrible in every aspect of the game . For sure , Coach Andy Reid was out-coached and I think for the first time in .

Speaker 1

Ohio . Yeah , it's really shocking to see .

Speaker 2

That was the most that I got from that game , you know .

Speaker 1

I mean they got slaughtered . They were down big in the first half and normally Coach Andy Reid at halftime has a… . He makes adjustments , he makes adjustments . You know what I mean . And then also Speck Nola , the defensive coordinator he just got .

Speaker 2

He just got destroyed . You know , he was doing this thing where he was just trying to blitz all game .

Speaker 2

And you know Jalen Hurts and you know a lot . I know that I know you don't um like them , but , um , they , they , uh , they really had a game plan and it worked to perfection . So it was . It was good to see . As for me , man , the only thing , the only good thing that I see there and that I and that I took out from , was that , you know , saquon barkley was able to win his first super bowl . Uh , as you , as everybody know , he was was the ex-running back for the New York Giants , so I can't hate on that . The guy's a good guy and he deserves this . He deserves this win .

Speaker 1

Yeah , he definitely deserves his flowers . He was a huge factor throughout their season and I guess they were worried about him and Hurts both of them running the ball so maybe that threw them off . But yeah , you got to give your credit where credit is due . The Eagles definitely outplayed on every aspect of the football .

Speaker 2

Yeah , and I think the Super Bowl overall was just boring man , it was right , it was just a one-side game . I didn't really see anything . You know , I didn't see no competitiveness .

Speaker 1

You think they gave up at one point ? I think so . Yeah , right towards the end , like a uh , like in the third quarter , in the third quarter travis kelcher was mia .

Speaker 2

He was pissed too . You know , like I didn't . I didn't know what was going on , I don't know what . You know . A lot of credit got to do with the eagles defense yeah , you know , it was just really just you know , and patrick was running around yeah , he was just lost .

Speaker 1

Yeah , running for his life ? Yeah , so it's just something that . Which is I mean he . Usually he got away from a lot of tackles , but that front four from the Eagles man , they showed the fuck up .

Speaker 2

Yeah , they weren't even blitzing , they were just four men .

Speaker 1

It was crazy .

Speaker 2

And then you know , normally , you know Patrick Mahone would do many play actions to kind of get out of the pocket and create something . But not even that , it was just pathetic to watch , yeah it really was .

Speaker 1

It was no fun . I guess we'll got to see . I mean , they lost 22 to 40 . And you know what ? In favor of the Eagles .

Speaker 2

That could have been less . It wasn't those hair makers that Patrick Mahomes shot . I think it was a rookie wide receiver I don't know the name but we'll figure that out but he did two tremendous catches and I think if it wasn't for that , it would have been .

Speaker 1

Was he on your parlay ? Huh , I forget his name too . I know who you're talking about , I know , I know . I mean , they were shut out for quarter one , quarter two , and then they scored six in the third and 16 in the fourth .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

That's not going to do it .

Speaker 2

That's not going to do it .

Speaker 1

Eagles scored seven , 17 , 10 , and six . Jesus , that's just straight annihilation .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

Like ass-whooping .

Speaker 2

Yeah , their running game was like the initial game plan and Saquon was just pounding the ball pause . You know , getting those inches , getting those yardage , yeah .

Speaker 1

I mean he's a big threat , yeah and Jalen Hurts was just playing it .

Speaker 2

He he was letting the game come to him , so it wasn't like he was trying to create that kid is a real deal . He's a real deal man . Yeah , I , it's scary now yeah , he's gonna be good .

Speaker 1

Is it me or is it Super Bowl ? I feel like the Super Bowl is always played in the Superdome In the Saints stadium . Really , I don't know . I feel like I see it all the time .

Speaker 2

I don't know . That's a good question . I don't really pay attention to that , yeah .

Speaker 1

Well , I mean not all the time , but I know that for the next couple of years I feel like they got another one coming up in , like 2028 or something like that , because next year is in Levi's Stadium and then they got SoFi and then in Atlanta . Maybe I'm wrong , but I feel like I've always seen . Superdome who knows Anyway Halftime show Good or bad .

Speaker 2

It was solid . I give it a solid 7 . You know , I think , kendrick Lamar , what he brought to the Super Bowl was an informant , an informant I'm sorry , like a message Like a message . He wanted to bring a message and I think that that was very important for him and for a lot of people you know . Let's call it what it is it's a diss song and it became this global , this global phenomenon man , and so you know it took a life on its own .

Speaker 2

Exactly so . I feel like you know it was good . I like it , I like the performance . I think that he did a good job . He was just , you know he was funny . He was just you know , he was funny he was . It was funny to watch because he , you know , he was teasing us with the song I . I personally thought he wasn't going to perform it , but no , he had to perform it .

Speaker 1

There was no way he was not going to perform it . He played it off really well . I thought it was . It was very clever . The whole Samuel did a great job .

Speaker 2

Playing Uncle Sam .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I thought that was nice , it was cool , but I feel like he should have played more of his head , don't you think ?

Speaker 2

I think so too .

Speaker 1

I feel like that's what everybody was expecting . They wanted him to give a little more energy to a fucking dead game . That was no . It wasn't like the first half was boring as hell . Yeah , here comes Kendrick . Let's fucking amp these people up . Let's drop fucking a dope-ass track from his like something old .

Speaker 2

But I mean you can't really expect , you know the performer to expect to have . You know , I mean expect to do that . I mean , yeah , you need to hype it up and everything , no doubt about it , but the game itself , you know , I mean , it was just bad , but he did a great job .

Speaker 2

I so you know , I mean it was just , it was just bad , but he did a great job . I think he bringing you know , uh , a few of his hits and then , actually , you know , having um , uh played , uh and I like us , that was amazing . I like that , I think , the energy when you know , when you know , when he said a minor , just engage in that that was pretty cool . But again , yeah , super Bowl .

Speaker 1

I give it a good solid 7 . It was fine , it wasn't . The performance was fine . Oh , the performance . No , I'm talking about the whole game as the game , oh , the game , yeah . I gave it a 6 . That's a generous 6 it's a generous 6 . Yeah , but now you know it's . Let's move on , let's move on . Let's move on to the good stuff .

MLB Baseball Spring Training Discussion

Speaker 1

What we've been waiting for MLB baseball is in full swing at spring training , my friend .

Speaker 2

The best time of the year , I agree , it's spring training , you know getting to watch . You know your team , you know get ready for the regular season . So it's going to be really interesting to see our teams and where they're headed , I mean the Mets .

Speaker 1

Obviously they got Soto who's going to be batting second , like you said . I think it's going to be good . I think the Mets are going to be definitely in the mix . Was Lindor ?

Speaker 2

batting Lidoff Lidoff , yeah , he was .

Speaker 1

For most of the . I mean I think Nemo started . Yeah , I'm pretty sure Nemo started Lidoff yeah .

Speaker 2

So my question is what do you think Lindor's mentality should be moving into this season ? An individual , a ball player that was asked to produce runs in the beginning of his career with the Mets , and now that he's leading off and having Soto behind him , how do you think his approach would be ?

Speaker 1

Well , one , I think he has to be , he has to play that leader role . And two , I mean I think he's still going to produce , he's still going to put numbers up . And two , I mean I think he's still going to produce , he's still going to put numbers up . He always has . I mean , he was just shy of being the MVP last year .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

If it wasn't for that monster on the other side of the coast . Okay With Otani , yeah , but I think he's going to be a huge leader . He'll play that leader role . He's going to be a huge leader . He'll play that leader role . He's going to produce some numbers . He's going to get a lot of runs brought in , a lot of RBIs , a lot of home runs . Probably 30 plus .

Speaker 2

You really think he could do that with leading off ? Yeah .

Speaker 1

I mean , he did it last year .

Speaker 2

Okay , yeah , he did .

Speaker 1

He put up those numbers last year .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I want to see him run the bases a little more . That's what I was getting to . I feel like his mentality now should be , you know , getting on base as much as you can because you have , you got the big boys right behind you that are gonna bring you in . So if he has that mentality , and focus on getting on base , stealing bases , making sure that you know that he's able to wreak havoc on the baselines .

Speaker 1

I mean Soto and Alonso and even Vientos are going to bring him in , and that's one thing that Brandon Nimmo did for a good portion of his career . He was always on base , he worked the count , he got hits . He's not much of a power hitter , but he drives the ball .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

And he got on base a lot .

Speaker 2

That's a good point that you just said right now about working the count . I think that's also something that Indore needs to . Indore needs to . This is why I tell you this , two things One , you know , obviously , for the hitter , you know you get to see most of the pitching yeah , most of the pitching , most of the pitchers pitches . But then , secondly , you give Soto the opportunity to also see the pitcher's arsenal .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

So when he gets on bat , you know he kind of has an idea of like hey his slider , hey his carbo . You know it's going this way . This way His carbo's sharp , Don't try to swing at it . You know things like that . You know hitters language , you know . You know they're gonna get as much as information as possible , so you know they should do that I think delandor has that .

Speaker 1

Yeah , capabilities , yeah for sure . Right now the lineup is looking . It's looking strong . The only thing that concerns me is , uh , obviously the pitching is gonna be a huge , huge uh factor . Well , I wouldn't say huge . I know I we got some solid pitching , but we also got some like we just got an injury , somebody just got hurt yeah uh , oh , uh , montez , frankie , montez is gonna be out for a bit .

Speaker 1

So that's annoying , but we have . We have deep pitching in terms of , uh , in terms of starters . Right now we , we have Sean is going to start , he's going to be our I guess he's going to be our ace . Then you got Senga David Peterson , then they have Klay Holmes at four Interesting , and then Paul . Oh , klay Holmes , that's right , he's going to be a starting pitcher Interesting .

Speaker 2

It's really interesting to see that . I really am going to be watching that because obviously he was with the Yankees last year and he was the hour he started as our closer .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

But then you know he had some issues .

Speaker 1

He was a closer , he was a closer . Oh wow , yeah , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 2

And he was really good two years ago . He was like lights out and he had a really sharp slider and the slider was going in the 95s and up , yeah . So obviously you know the velocity there will will kind of lower , um , because he kind of needs to like retain his energy since he's being the starting pitcher . But still , like his , his slider was just nasty . So I'm I'm really interested to see , uh , how he's gonna perform yeah , he's a pitcher .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I'm excited to see I think I thought that was a good pickup . And then , uh , for the fifth starter , it's up for grabs , I guess , for for just about anybody , but the lineup is looking lindor soto , alonzo nimmo , vientos winker .

Speaker 1

Uh , frankie alvarez , who fucking has to show the fuck up because he fucking killed me in the whole season last year , oh my god , jeff mcneil , who was hurt a lot , and then the nine hole would probably be tyrod taylor , if I had to take a wild guess I'm a little disagreement with vientos being on um batting fifth .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I'm pretty sure that's gonna change .

Speaker 1

It's funny you say that because I actually heard that . I've been hearing that a lot . They're just basically saying that he's got a . Is he going to be the same Vientos that showed up last year with 20-plus home runs ?

Speaker 2

They just kind of want to see where he's at yeah , he's still , I think he is , I would hope so at least when were his bats , if you could let me know . If you know , last year was he batting third or fourth ?

Speaker 1

Let me know if you know Last year was he batting third or fourth . He was right after Pete Right , I'm pretty sure . I could be wrong , but I'm pretty sure he was . Was Nemo playing at that time ? Yeah , nemo was second . They had Francisco Nemo , alonso , okay , and Okay and Vienzos . So we'll see Overall . I mean , mean , again , we're gonna be chasing the goddamn braves and the phillies . The phillies are gonna probably be good , fuck them , and the braves are always good , they're gonna get it they're gonna get a kunye back this year yeah hopefully he's probably gonna be healthy , maybe not .

Speaker 1

Hopefully , I hope he's well , but I I wouldn't like to see him on the field as an individual .

Speaker 2

We hope he's well as a fan .

Speaker 1

As a fan no sir uh , that to me , and then obviously we're in the national league , so we got to see the dodgers , no matter what , whatever , in order for us to get to the world series we got to go through the dodgers , and you know they're just a fucking monster team what's that ?

Speaker 2

uh , rick flair saying to be the man , you got to beat the man . Well , you got to beat you know .

Speaker 1

You know what I'm gonna add that sound effect I'm going to add .

Speaker 2

Yeah , Bricklair Woo .

Speaker 1

Yes , sir , I love that guy Remind me

Yankees and Red Sox Roster Analysis

Speaker 1

. Anyway , what about your Yankees ? Talk to me about them . Are they looking good ? They're looking healthy On paper .

Speaker 2

They look good . I mean , they're healthy , so that's a good sign . You know , a lot of the only kind of negativity that I see there is just the Marcus Stroman situation . Just because the team , you know , wanted to trade him and you know they're , I guess they don't have any offers .

Speaker 1

So now , you know , I feel like there's a little like he's older , you know . So yeah , I don't yeah .

Speaker 2

He's not older he he's .

Speaker 1

He's like a number five , maybe four , I think yeah .

Speaker 2

I mean I think that you know what , what I feel for him , because I know that could be a little situation very complicated , but the good thing is that he's a professional , he took it well and he's in the camp now and he's pitching . He's doing his thing . He's a local kid from Long Island .

Speaker 1

Speaking about professionalism , we'll get to that in a minute with the Boston Red Sox Fuck them , but we'll finish with the Yankees . Your lineup looks good .

Speaker 2

Yeah , the lineup looks great . The lineup looks on paper .

Speaker 1

You got Volpe first , jazz two , judge three , paul four , cody five , no mames .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

You got Stanton six Wells . Who's Jason Jason Dominguez Jason Stanton Six Wells . Who's Jason ? Jason Dominguez Jason .

Speaker 2

Dominguez , the Martian .

Speaker 1

And then Osvaldo .

Speaker 2

Cabrera . You know I love that kid , Osvaldo Cabrera . A lot of people , that's a fucking lineup man .

Speaker 1

It's a good lineup .

Speaker 2

But speaking about Cabrera man , he's a versatile player man , he can play any position . He , you know , whatever you need him , he's there .

Speaker 1

Where'd you guys get him from ? I think he was in our farm . Yeah , he was in our farm .

Speaker 2

So you know he's a really good pickup . But going back to the lineup , yeah , it's a really solid lineup . You know I'm just sounding humble , I know it's a real good lineup . But again , you know with you know ex-MVPs in that lineup and then , our current mvp yeah and then you have a great , great , great , great , uh , solid defense as well .

Speaker 2

With that , I mean , it's looking pretty sharp . The only questions that I have in there will be probably the lead off with volpe . Um , I feel like you know , volpe needs to , you know , bring it up a notch this year . I I mean , he was great in the playoffs , but I mean , his numbers are all right .

Speaker 1

He starts . You know what it is .

Speaker 2

He has a great April and May , and then when summer hits , for some reason it just went down , and then after the All-Star break , that's when he starts picking it up . But it has to be a season when there's consistency . You know what I mean ? He strikes out a lot , yeah , he strikes out a lot . So if he's going to be a lead off , he has to have that mentality yeah , he's got to get on base .

Speaker 1

Get on base because we got the .

Speaker 2

You know the big bats are going to come and bring you in .

Speaker 1

And he's got . He had 576 at bats , he averaged 238 and he did steal 27 bases , 64 rbis , 15 home runs , that's , but he struck out 144 times yeah , his on base .

Speaker 2

His on base is a little low than on base is uh 309 .

Speaker 1

Yeah , it should be more yeah uh .

Speaker 2

So yeah , we'll . We'll definitely keep an eye on that . I love jazz chism . I think he brings energy to that lineup . He's a character um .

Speaker 1

Jazz yeah , I like jazz .

Speaker 2

I think that what people don't know , he's got legs man .

Speaker 1

He's got 35 stolen bases . He's got 35 speed .

Speaker 2

but what people don't get about him ? He has power and now that you're going to play in Yankee Stadium and that right field Baby stadium . Baby stadium . Like my compa . Good to see their power numbers are going to go up , that's guaranteed .

Speaker 1

For sure . And obviously , judge is Judge Paul Goldschmidt . Paul Goldschmidt , yeah Schmidt . Paul , great player , yeah he's always been a solid , solid hitter , first baseman , probably a gold glover , yeah .

Speaker 2

So I'm sure he'll be all right , it's a student in the game . You know I was . I was listening to his uh press conference and all he was just saying was , like you know he wants to like make sure that you know he works on the ground balls with his colleagues because you know he understands that every you know player has a different throwing um throwing angle and he wants to know how they're throwing it where to you know player has a different throwing um throwing angle and he wants to know how they throwing in where to you know pick up the balls in the dirt . Like he's really really focusing on that and that just gets to show you like the fundamentals and the little things that he sees . So that just gives me the comfort to know that there's a real first baseman there yeah , I mean , who else were you gonna have , like there's nobody ?

Speaker 2

nobody who was what's his name . Well , Corey Bounder could play a good , solid first base .

Speaker 1

He was who was your first baseman .

Speaker 2

Last year .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

It was . What's his name ? Jesus Christ . Why am I blanked out ?

Speaker 1

Byatt no not .

Speaker 2

Byatt , we'll get back to that , but um , the kid from Chicago , right , what's ?

Speaker 1

this fucking guy's name , Anyway him . He kind of went MIA too , right he ?

Speaker 2

sure , did you know what would be the X factor ? A lot of people are skeptical and not agreeing with me , but I just got a feeling that this guy's going to produce because he got something to prove . You know , because he is that type of hitter and is DJ LeMayhew , he's healthy for the first time .

Speaker 1

He's not on your lineup . No , he's not on the lineup . He's not on the lineup at all , is he still ?

Speaker 2

hurt . No , no , he's healthy . He's fighting for a position . He's fighting for a position , and I think that that's where you're going to see him emerge and the thing it is in the American League .

Speaker 1

I like him . I like him a lot . When he was in Colorado , he was a fucking , he was a beast . Oh my .

Speaker 2

God , I'm telling you , this is going to be an X Factor there . I feel like if DJ LeMay could perform the way he I mean . I don't want to say the way he was in 2017 , when the Yankees made the run with Houston and we got cheated . Anyway , that's another story . That's funny . You know , that's going to be something to watch too . And then our bullpen is freaking solid .

Speaker 1

I like your bullpen . Your bullpen is good , but the starting pitching is good too . I mean , you got projected to have Cole free , max free , carlos .

Speaker 2

According to Aaron Boone , we're going to have six , a six-man rotation .

Speaker 1

So we have Strowman .

Speaker 2

Yeah , Strowman's going to be the six . Who the fuck is ?

Speaker 1

this Carlos Rendon .

Speaker 2

Yeah , Carlos Rendon .

Speaker 1

And then you got Luis Gil Gil Luis Gil , great guy , I like him . And then Clark Schmidt , number five , and then Clark Schmidt Number five , and then Stroman six . And then Stroman Solid , solid man , solid , solid , solid .

Speaker 2

And you know a lot of things that I've been looking at like before you get to my compa . You know Stroman . Last year the reason why he had a season that wasn't good for him was because a lot of the infields were making errors , because you have to understand you can't talk about errors with the Yankees .

Speaker 2

Yeah , but Shulman is a pitcher , that is a contact pitcher . He doesn't strike out batters , he needs contact . But what he does is he creates double plays , and that was the reason why he was how do you call it ? His numbers ?

Speaker 1

weren't there .

Speaker 2

Now , with this new infield and these new players coming in , I think it's going to be a different story for him .

Speaker 1

Overall , both of our teams are looking pretty solid , on paper at least , and , like I said , the Mets are going to be fighting for the first place against the Braves .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

And I think the Yankees are probably going to take the AL East . At least it looks that way .

Speaker 2

Yeah , it looks on paper , but they still got to play 162 games , so we have to see that .

Speaker 1

Unless the Red Sox have something to say .

Speaker 2

What about the ?

Speaker 1

Red , the Red Sox . Look , they also look good on paper . They got a lot of young people , a lot of young talent , and they just brought in what's his face ? Bregman Bregman . Which speaking about Bregman and the Red Sox , so there's some drama going on with them , with Rafael Devers , and Rafael doesn't want to play anything else but third base bro .

Speaker 2

What do you think about that ? Well , I think , if I think he's , it's not that he doesn't want . This is how I'm seeing it . It's not that he doesn't want to play another position .

Speaker 1

That's what he said . He said he's playing third base and only third base .

Speaker 2

You know , the thing about it is that he doesn't want to do it because he doesn't want to learn another position that's just just lazy you know what I mean . You could call it lazy or you could call it fear .

Speaker 1

Maybe he doesn't want to like , I don't want to do something , but he's also not that good of a third baseman .

Speaker 2

We all know that . Yeah , he's not great .

Speaker 1

So I mean from a team aspect of it , I feel like , okay , you need me to play second , I bet we'll play second In the long run . We're all chasing the same thing and we're all trying to get that ring and that championship . I'm going to do whatever's best for the team

MLB Player Position Debate and Projections

Speaker 1

. The thing is , I don't even know what other positions he should play , but it's the truth I just don't see any other position out there for him that he could play , Maybe I mean .

Speaker 1

Well they're saying he can play short and second you could . That's what they're saying . Wow , I don't know about that . But then again , you know he just recently got a contract extension Got paid very well , yeah , so you know .

Speaker 2

For him it's like hey , listen , I'm your guy Like why are you even letting me know ? Yeah , but Bregman is .

Speaker 1

Yeah , of course , Fucking stud man .

Speaker 2

But then you go back to , then you gotta go back to the 2004 Season , when the Yankees Brought in Alex Rodriguez .

Speaker 1

Yeah , but Rodriguez Moved exactly . You know what and what happened . They won a championship in 2009 .

Speaker 2

So I think Bregman , should do the same move . I think Bregman should see like , hey , this is Devers team and I should , you know , play a different position . It shouldn't be the other way around . In a sense , I kinda go with Devers because and I should , you know , play a different position . It shouldn't be the other way around . In a sense , I kind of go with Devers because I've been here , I did my due diligence , I'm doing what I need to do . Why you even got to give me this question like let him move , he's coming in yeah , I see your point you know what I mean .

Speaker 2

It's like asking Derek Jeter hey , listen , I want to be able to play shortstop because he's a better shortstop Than you . Probably , probably , right , he was . He was , but , as Rodriguez said , no , you know what ? This is Jeter's team .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

And you know I'm gonna respect that .

Speaker 1

So you think Bregman Should be the bigger man ?

Speaker 2

Exactly , exactly , yeah Makes sense .

Speaker 1

I don't know if I could Agree with it , but I think it's Cora's going to play it out .

Speaker 2

At the end of the day , it's Cora who's going to make those you know , Cora and the organization .

Speaker 1

They're going to bench his ass if he doesn't .

Speaker 2

I imagine he definitely doesn't want to play DH . He said no yeah definitely .

Speaker 1

DH is a hell . No for him A hell no for him , the hell no for him , but the Red Sox , they're going to give you some trouble , man , and so the yeah , of course , baltimore , baltimore , Baltimore .

Speaker 2

Look , it's not going to be easy and Toronto is also looking good with you know with the lineup , you know with another drama over there , but hopefully they get that covered . But it's going to be . Listen , hey , as long as they're healthy and they're playing consistently , eventually they're going to get there . It's a long season . Mets proved that last year . You know what I mean A horrible , horrible First half , not first half , because they were getting it there , but I'm talking about the first two months .

Speaker 1

Months .

Speaker 2

We dug ourselves into a hole and couldn't come out of it , couldn't come back .

Speaker 1

I mean , we came back , but I'm saying we couldn't come out of it at that time that time yeah . They had a team meeting and they made a fucking huge run . That shit was crazy man , that's the proven .

Speaker 2

Yeah , you know it's a long season so things could happen , so you know .

Speaker 1

You have any projections on where you're going to end up Wins ?

Speaker 2

Let's do this . How about projections , individuality ? So I'll start with you . Soto MVP yes or no ?

Speaker 1

Too much competition , no .

Speaker 2

Okay , lindor , 30 for 30 ? Yes , Nice , I think so too , I think , so too . I think that's going to happen for sure . And then , lastly , I would say Ido Lazo , average 290? . You think he'll go up there ?

Speaker 1

That's a good question , I would say I want to say yes . I want to say that because he's down 290? . Yeah , I think so yeah , 290 , 30 plus home runs .

Speaker 2

You don't think so I don't know who is being protected . Animo .

Speaker 1

Vientos and then Soto before him .

Speaker 2

Well , soto is going to get on base , po Lanzer has got to perform .

Speaker 1

I mean he can opt out ? Yeah , he can opt out after this year .

Speaker 2

But I think two out of three I agree with you . What about ?

Speaker 1

you Judge MVP yes or no ?

Speaker 2

No , Really I feel like this year he's going to focus more on the team , more the leadership . I think that he's not going to . He's going to produce numbers . Obviously , like you know , that's just his nature of the game , but I don't think he's pushing for MVP . I think this year is going to be more like hey .

Speaker 1

You think that loss hurt him ?

Speaker 2

That loss really hurt him . I think anyone that was there it's . So I'm sure it did . I think he's going to work a lot on his defense just because of that , just because the perfection is that he is and the hitting part is always going to be there . But I don't think he's going to go for the MVP . If it does happen , you know it's going to naturally happen , but if it's not , I think he's going to be more focused on just getting that ship . So I'm going to say no , uh , gary cole gets over 15 wins , over 15 wins . I would like to say yes , but it's not going to happen . And the reason why is is because it's just too much competition in that , in that uh , that , uh bracket . Um , it's going to be close games .

Speaker 1

I have two more . And then Jazz gets over 30 stolen bases . Yes , okay , and Giancarlo Stanton stays on the field , yes or no ? No , no , because I can't agree with you more .

Speaker 2

The fact is that you know he has some hamstring problems and it's been going on for years already . Yankees really want to take care of him because once the playoffs hits , if we get there , it's a whole different standard .

Speaker 1

Yeah , one last question for you . Yeah , if Yankees don't make , don't win a championship or make the playoffs , which I'm sure they will does , what's his , what's his name ? Your coach , aaron Boone , fired or no fire ? I'm not even a Yankee fan well , it don't depends about him and Cashman , you're already talking about extending him .

Speaker 2

So , really , because you have this team already , for what ? Seven plus years already , I believe . So I'm not sure . Either way , it's a long time and you know they're getting there .

MLB and Sports Talk Discussion

Speaker 2

Then you know , I mean last year was the closest he ever been , so we have to wait and see . I mean he has the team to do it , you know . And again , you know there's no excuses . You know , for the Yankees every year is championship or nothing . There's no excuses , you know . And for the Yankees every year is championship or nothing . So you know , I know it's a lot of pressure , but yeah , aaron Boone , you know he got to step it up .

Speaker 2

Yeah , and I'm not saying that he's not . I think he is a great coach . I think , personally , a lot of people you know criticize him a lot , especially at my fan base I mean the Yankee fan base but for me , I think he's great . I think he's a good , good baseball uh player when he was playing , and then I think he's a great coach as well .

Speaker 1

uh , but uh , yeah , I think people are just getting tired of like uh , not seeing um production yeah , I mean , it's been a long time since you guys chasing the what 27 , 28 , 28 chasing 28 , but anyway , it's something like that , you know ? Yeah , a lot of rings it's a lot of rings .

Speaker 2

There must be freaking nice but anyway , man , besides our yankees and mets man , what's going on out there in the uh in mlb , like I know for uh the vlade situation , what do you think that's going to happen ?

Speaker 1

I think he's going to go into free agency and Uncle Steve's going to pay him like a billion dollars .

Speaker 2

You don't think Toronto's going to pay him .

Speaker 1

I don't think so . I don't think he wants to stay in Toronto .

Speaker 2

He has said that he wanted to end his career there , but like you said earlier , everybody wants that money .

Speaker 1

He's not the soda , he's not , but he was . He's definitely gonna chase and I , I I'm pretty sure he's gonna produce this year well , yeah , this is contract , yeah , contract year and he's gonna go to free agency and he's gonna try to get as much money as possible . I think my my uncle is gonna pay him a lot of money wait , wait .

Speaker 2

What do you think he's gonna be asking ?

Speaker 1

probably like six or five , five or six .

Speaker 2

I think five five sounds more reasonable but I think he's not a five caliber hitter , I think he's more 400 type .

Speaker 1

Yeah , how many years ?

Speaker 2

I'll say 12 , 12 years .

Speaker 1

He's not going to take that , oh I know he's not , but he's the thing .

Speaker 2

This is what happens when this contract , that happened with Soto and now it's evolving to this , where now players are going to say , well , I'm capable of producing Soto also .

Speaker 1

Otani , don't just blame Soto and Judge . They're both getting 300 million . Well , otani's getting , otani's getting 700 , 700 million , and then Judge is getting 300 , 300 and change .

Speaker 2

Judge is not in that category and he should be .

Speaker 2

He should be in that category and he should be . It was still a lot of fucking money . He should be in that category because a lot of people compare him with Otani and Judge destroyed him in every single category and yet he's getting paid 700 . But you know why I stay quiet with Otani ? Because two things . One , he's bringing the Japan fan base to the United States , to the MLB industry , and you know so . For that , you know , we thank him . Secondly , he's also a pitcher , a great pitcher . So that's a lot you know for a player and the way he's doing it , and it's on a whole different level .

Speaker 2

However , otani and Soto on that 700 mark know no , no players like them . So , like now , players are going to start acting like they , they are like that and they're going to start acting for that type of money and then that's , that's the thing you know , and I I'm gonna have to wait and see how , you know , mob is gonna attack that situation , but for now I don't see vladia . It's like 500 . Well , whatever , hey , my people out there , you think that vladia is able , is , uh , is five to six hundred , uh , caliber player , let me know well , he might not be , but I'm sure somebody's gonna give him that yeah , somebody .

Speaker 2

Uh , you think your uncle is . Nah , I mean , I don't know , he can my man is , he's loaded , he's loaded .

Speaker 1

How much it's chump change for me , boy , let's go .

Speaker 2

Move it along . Yo , I saw Chapman is a Boston Red Sox . I don't know , is he the closer Really ? Yeah , that's funny .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

I draw this Chapman . He's with the Boston Red Sox . No way , I mean , the man can still pitch 100 miles per hour , bro . I don't know how the hell he's doing that , but that man got a rubber arm you know what I mean .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I don't know how it's gonna be interesting , how .

Speaker 2

Cora's gonna like use him .

Speaker 1

He was with the Pittsburgh Pirates .

Speaker 2

And you know , the Pittsburgh Pirates weren't using him as a closer , they weren't , they were using him as an eighth inning guy . He was a Red Sox . Yeah , yeah , you're right . Right , interesting , interesting right .

Speaker 1

He's done , though he's washed up , but the man still throws hard man , yeah , but he throws up in the air . Yeah , up in the air , right ? Yeah , still , though on the plate At somebody's head .

Speaker 2

We don't want that .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I never liked him .

Speaker 2

Yeah , me neither . Moving along , Moving along .

Speaker 1

Oh man .

Speaker 2

It's crazy .

Speaker 1

All over . I'm fucking excited about baseball Opening day . Yes , yes , both , both so we're thinking about doing a podcast at our tailgate parties , both at Citi Field and at Baby Stadium .

Speaker 2

Yeah , definitely on Citi Field . We're going to do it's more open . Right it's more open so we're going to plan to like record live . Not live , but yeah , just record our podcast and we do a little like En Caliente segment that I want to create there and just ask , don't give them too much . You know little like encaliente segment that .

Speaker 1

I want to create there and just ask don't give them too much . You know something like that . It should be good . Falta un chingo . No , actually another month another month , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 2

So you know , we're getting ready , we're gonna get , we're gonna get organized . Yeah , I'm excited . Man can't wait just to see baseball yeah , who who .

Speaker 1

Blue Jays , we start off with the .

Speaker 2

AL , I think the Yankees are playing the Brewers , if I'm not mistaken . The Brewers yeah .

Speaker 1

Oh nice Could be wrong . We beat the ass .

Speaker 2

We came back Nestor Cortez going there . I miss that guy .

Speaker 1

Pues si mi hermano yeah man , así estamos .

Speaker 2

I'm just stretching guys . Oh man , Baseball's coming back . So anyway , for everybody out there , that is a baseball fan .

Speaker 1

Yeah , it's against the Blue Jays , the Blue Jays , yeah , yeah , at least for us Okay . But yeah , ustedes me , valen verga . Yeah , it's okay . Anyway , that is , I guess that's it right you ?

Speaker 2

got anything else to say ? What about basketball ? Oh , basketball , yeah .

Speaker 1

You know what I mean . What's on the second half right now .

Speaker 2

What do you think about the All-Star game ? I don't know , man , it was weird .

Speaker 1

It was interesting , but weird . Yeah , I don't know if weird is the right word , it was just different .

Speaker 2

It was different . I don't know . I know they're trying to change the game where they could be more competitive , but the players are not even acting like that they're just lobbing the ball .

Speaker 1

They're losing . Lobbing the ball , they're losing ratings . That's why it's just crazy People are not watching basketball anymore .

Speaker 2

The dunk contest was pretty cool .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I mean my man . I don't even know who he is , but he jumped over a goddamn car . And put the ball under his legs and dunked it . That's no monies Big activity man .

Speaker 2

You know , a lot got to do With , you know , with Vince Carter when he did that that year . And Vince Carter when he did that that year and like shout out to that man yeah man , he , he , he elevated that dunk contest . So kudos to him , man . I , I appreciate that his creativity and and he just dominated that , that , uh , that dunk contest . Yeah , um so , and I think that expired and inspired uh other players to be more creative and and Now you see guys jumping into cars .

Speaker 1

Yeah yeah , apparently they're going to put something else now Jump over something else . But you know what ? Fuck all that ? All I worry about is my Knicks . How about Brooklyn , brooklyn , yo .

Speaker 2

Nah , nah , nah , the Knicks yo Big Body Brunson , Big Body Brunson , big Body , brunson .

Speaker 1

And Bodega Cat , bodega Cat , they're gonna come through . You said they're gonna get hot . You said no .

Speaker 2

You said Big Body Brunson Is gonna get hot , I think so I think a lot of people Are saying that you know the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers Are gonna take that east , but you gotta watch out For these New off with these new york knicks . Believe it or not , I kind of feel like once my big body , bronson , just takes over the fourth quarter , I think this is his time now . It was proven last year . You know , last year he was like dominating , I mean , every aspects of the game assist , he was even rebounding , scoring . That fourth quarter was all his . Like he took the knicks he's like I got this .

Speaker 1

Yeah , give me the ball , and I think that was gonna happen .

Speaker 2

You know , the first half was more like the team concept and everything .

Speaker 1

Trying to get acquainted with each other's plays and work with each other how to sink in , With the addition of Mitch Robinson coming back .

Speaker 2

it's just going to build their defense even higher . Man , I sure hope so .

Speaker 1

Because that man's got to stay on the court . I know , and I know , and when he's on the court he's phenomenal . Oh man , yeah , he's great .

Speaker 2

We just need that second unit .

Speaker 1

Unfortunately he gets injured all the time .

Speaker 2

That's why I'm saying if Mitch Robinson comes back healthy and he stays on the floor , that second unit is going to be unstoppable . With what's his name ? That little guy , man , deuce and the other dude from that that we got from Brooklyn Bridges and you know you have those . Og was . He was out too . Yeah , he was out , but there was still . There was still winning I think he's still going to be out for a while .

Speaker 2

Yeah . So it's good , Take his time , man . We're going to get him ready for the playoffs , but I'm pretty sure that the Knicks are going to make noise .

Speaker 1

Kat and and Mitt and Robinson like that , like in the same at the same time . That'd be good man . That'd be like Tim Duncan and David . Robinson , ooh that would be . That would be solid , I think . I mean we're gonna make the playoffs , obviously , yeah we're gonna make the playoffs .

Speaker 2

I think that we're . You know we're there . I think that missing piece could be Mitch Robinson , but we'll have to wait and see . Listen , you know I can't really say if they're going to win the championship , but we're definitely the team that we're going to be Now we can say we can make a run at it .

Speaker 1

We're going to be rooting for them . Yeah , for the next couple of years , and if they win a chip , new York City is going to go fucking nuts .

Speaker 2

Yeah , now the next trade trade . Remember in the beginning when we said , man , why they traded For Bodega , cat For Towns . Now it's looking like the Knicks did the right trade . Looks that way . Yeah , because Bodega Is just producing In all levels . People were saying that he was weak , that he didn't have that heart for it .

Speaker 1

But man , they did say he was weak , didn't they yeah ?

Speaker 2

he's producing . He has that New York mentality .

Speaker 1

Be Dominicano man .

Speaker 2

I'm telling you man . He got the Dominican in there , so he's definitely producing . Yeah , shout out to the Knicks man . I'm really rooting for y'all the Knicks man . New York is definitely feeling that buzz . Last year we were just excited . That shit was crazy .

Speaker 1

I mean it brings the whole city together . You know , because there's your Knicks fans , I mean your Mets fans , your Yankee fans , ranger fans and Islanders , but they don't really count . Brooklyn , brooklyn .

Speaker 2

But now , like when the Knicks come , the Knicks is like everybody's like together , it's the whole city Brooklyn , queens , bronx that shit gets . Let's go Knicks all around though All around the Knicks are going to do it , man , I see a big run for them , so I think that's it
