Major Moments at Oakmont
Don't need to make it Two putts. How about one? And one of the most unlikely final round Sundays in US Open history, jj Spahn closes the deal with a birdie at the last. You could have never dreamt this Sunday for Spahn, that's right. You know what time it is. You hear the music. It's Major Championship Reaction. You could have never dreamt Of an ending like that, as JJ Spahn wins the US Open At Oakmont in Pennsylvania as the only player under par. And what was a delayed final round due to weather and a bad opening of his final round, where he bogeyed just almost everything, maintained his composure and came back two under after the delay to come out from out of nowhere, from being at the top, to win his first major championship at what was one of the most difficult courses I've seen in major championship playing sometime.
Speaker 1:Oakmont played up to its reputation. Jj Spahn is your US Open champion, holding off the likes of Victor Hovland McIntyre. He finished at one over. A lot of people thought that would be enough, but a birdie, birdie finish for JJ Spahn in what was a memorable US Open for its fun finish. I watched it from way downtown. He was able to knock it in only needing one putt to do it. Right before that, victor hovland landed his ball about three feet inside of JJ's. That was really just what was really lucky kind of, but great, he had a perfect look at the putt. That would be the winning putt to be your US Open champion in Oakmont.
Speaker 1:One more major left in the season, and there's what? What's that? Go to the next hole. Okay, all right, all right, I think it's the British open. Yes, that's what's next. So, but what? Oh? We had to go. We got to get out and out of here.
Speaker 1:It's a short one. It's summer vacation time, folks, I'll be on the road, but don't you think that I'm not going to be watching these NBA finals? Close it out. I told you what would happen, and it's the Oklahoma City Thunder are going to win it because they won game four. Now it's going to be a fun game 5, but they have the home court advantage. They're a different team. Unless they get some sort of heroic performance like they did in game 1, I don't see it happening. I think it's going to go 7. Oh, whoever wins tonight wins it all. I think it's going to go seven then. Oh, whoever wins tonight wins it all, is what I hear Whoever wins tonight wins it all. Whoever wins game seven is the winner.
Speaker 1:College World Series underway Boo, oregon State, coastal Carolina. Coastal Carolina beat Oregon State, so they're in the winner's bracket. You'll have LSU playing UCLA today. Tonight A lot to look forward to. We'll have a national champion in baseball. Probably We'll have an NBA champion in basketball. Next time we talk we'll have all that and we'll have some great news on the recruiting front with some high projections for Florida State this fall. It's going to be awesome. As I head off to the magical world of Universal, I'm looking for it. We'll watch them, we'll react to them and we'll talk to you next time Right here on the North Florida Sports Network. Everybody in the suit. See your job. Do you understand that? What?
