North Florida Sports Network Podcast

FSU's faces its first Road Test and NFL's Week of Wild Finishes

Austin Fletcher Season 4 Episode 381
Speaker 1:

Roger, let me ask you one question.

Speaker 2:

The North Florida Sports Network.

Speaker 3:

Football Football the.

Speaker 2:

North Florida Sports Network. All right, welcome back. It is just another Football Monday as we're getting into it. A lot of good games, A lot of big games to look forward to. But first we've got to look back. Crazy finishes, special teams plays, block kicks, punt returns, I mean every game came down to the wire in the NFL. It seems like yeah, sure did. Florida oof. Flagway oof.

Speaker 3:

And he's bad.

Speaker 2:

Florida State played Kent State to care business. A little scare there. Huh with Castellanos. Yeah, a little ankle, but he's, he's okay. He says I didn't see any of it, I was reading. It got rolled up on.

Speaker 3:

People are losing their minds on the line.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I know.

Speaker 2:

I mean, just two seasons ago, everything came dropping down. I couldn't see why not. They'd be losing their minds.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

That play Miami Florida State has been announced the kickoff time, that is, it is going to be prime time under the lights. But just one more game has to be played before that game, and it's Florida State and Virginia on Friday night. Trap game.

Speaker 3:

I just want to put this out there Virginia's got a good offense that in years that they've played each other they've ended in five. Uh-oh, we have lost in Virginia. Uh-oh, why are you getting him 1995-2005. Didn't play him in 2015. Those heartbreaking losses too.

Speaker 2:

Yep, we'll talk about that game, but first we'll react to the games. This past week College. There weren't that many good games, but we had a couple good matchups Oklahoma beat Auburn, you know. Yeah, miami's now number two.

Speaker 3:

I'll tell you, oklahoma's defense looks legitimate. Still don't know what to make of that offense. I like the quarterback. Yeah, you dig into the numbers and they're not as good as you would expect, but he plays with some fire.

Speaker 2:

Yep. Well, fsu played with a lot of fire power. They've been just beating the crap out of everybody, setting records left and right, rounding the ball for 500 damn yards. According to Mark Rick, though, that's just what Gus likes to do. Yeah, Well, it is I mean why not Right, you play to execute, get it where your players you're going to need them to have counters and be comfortable. I mean Danzy again shows out. It's fun to watch.

Speaker 3:

You don't want to break out a bunch of stuff playing these two teams either. You want to keep it simple.

Speaker 2:

Right. Well, I mean the way he runs his offense. It's like all right, I'm showing you stuff, but which one are you going to stop? Because we're trying to zig and then you zag. If you zag, we'll zig. So if you can establish Danzy at receiver, if you can establish him running the ball reverses, and then you have stuff that's going to open up other things I would look for Danzy to throw the ball at some point in this season, because it's what he did at Auburn.

Speaker 3:

I mean you can go and just look up clips after clips of him doing the exact same thing.

Speaker 2:

He's setting up stuff on other stuff. I think he's got a bunch of stuff to set up, so I'm not worried about that. I think he's got a bunch of stuff to set up, so I'm not worried about that. This team has two of the best coordinators in the country, I think, right now, in terms of where they are in their careers and just what they're getting. I mean, you look at the turnaround. Damn sure better than what they had last year. Yeah, yeah they had last year.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so fsu, other than the castellanos scare, but he says he's okay, you gotta take him at his word. Um, you know, I I also. They can't be happy about giving up that long touchdown either yeah, that's one play.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was a good play it was. I mean, it was a. It was one of those you look like it's gonna. It was a run and then he just threw it right, but it's something to work on. I mean, you're gonna have a offense and you're gonna be playing on the road for the first time. You're gonna be playing one of the better offenses in the country statistically yeah, their quarterback chandler morris, he's uh, he's a legit qb man, he's.

Speaker 3:

He's good. He's better than what virginia has had at qb in quite a while. Um, honestly, they could very easily be undefeated. They probably should have beat NC State at home.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, they played.

Speaker 3:

NC State on the road man. No, I'm pretty sure they did Either way, they should have won it.

Speaker 2:

Yes, they should have won it, but they lost to NC State at NC State 35-31. Like I said, should have won on the road against NC State. They beat William Mary 55-16. They beat Stanford 48-20 this last week, so this Saturday they'll be hosting Florida State. Louis Reddick will be doing the game. Great, terrific.

Speaker 3:

It's Friday actually.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's Friday, that's why we're talking about it.

Speaker 3:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

So they look like the offense. The defense will be tested like it hasn't been yet, being on the road against a good offense.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, the quarterback, that's actually dynamic, that can run the ball.

Speaker 2:

The offense will be tested too, in terms of being in an environment where it's going to be probably a sellout. It's going to be the only game on and it's going to be everybody looking to. You know, be fsu, so it'll. It'll be a nervous environment, but I think fsu rolls they. I'm looking forward to seeing this show on the road and we'll find out. I had this game circled all offseason. It's really your only road test of the first half of the season.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so Road games get a little more interesting.

Speaker 2:

second part of the season man, the whole season opens up this week. In terms of just the national schedule as well. You have some really good games. You have oregon, penn state, you have alabama, georgia those are all coming up this weekend. So college football, it's a park your ass saturday and and watch some great games after. Hopefully, fsu with the big win friday night. I mean it hopefully get some guys for that game too, in terms of uh production back and Pittman and White on offense in particular, and maybe you'll see the freshman D-tackle win hopefully on the line. I mean those are big contributing players. Especially, I like White on offense. I think that's another threat and in this offense, when you can have a threat deep man, that's just going to be.

Speaker 2:

There's just going to be plays where stuff's wide open as much as the team runs the ball Like Virginia's got to look at this film and be like, oh my God, we got to.

Speaker 3:

Well, Virginia, struggles to stop the run anyway. Right, they're down a few offensive linemen. Listen, if this team is going to be, you know, if the expectations are there and they really are going to contend, there's one team on the schedule that you have an excuse to lose to, right.

Speaker 2:

And we play that team after this week right, um, but this every week becomes about just handling business right and this is a test of handling business in an environment that you haven't done that yet with this team. I, I think short week, you know, you had a quarterback hasn't played since he tweaked his ankle. They didn't put him back in right, um, so there's a little. You know this is going to be. There's going to be some adversity, it'll hit, but I I like this team. I think this team just going to keep grinding. I think it has a lot of different wrinkles, especially on offense, and in the ACC it's just going to run shot on everybody.

Speaker 3:

Well, the ACC is just so bad. That's what I meant.

Speaker 2:

I think this is going to if you talk about a Virginia defense, where yeah, they haven't been great.

Speaker 2:

So, okay, you're going to trust one-on-one matchups on the outside, and I like the if we can get White and Robinson. And then if you watch Danzy, goodness gracious, this kid's looking like a hell of a football player who's fast as hell Making contested catches. I mean this, this kid, has got to be the biggest surprise just or not surprise just the biggest bright spot in what has been just an, just a huge just. It's been a machine in these games yeah and it.

Speaker 2:

This is we you know you expect to win these games, but the way they're going about doing it is pretty special.

Speaker 3:

Right, Kent State, East Texas. They're two bad football teams that you should kick the crap out of, but they did. There's been teams that have Florida State's played plenty of bad teams and let them hang around and looked less than impressive for part of those games. That hasn't happened in either one of the past two games. And then, of course, the Alabama win.

Speaker 2:

Right. So that's why this game, even outside of the Alabama game, this one, this is when it counts. You know this is your conference. If you're going to go to your championship and get to the playoff, you'd think you've got to go to Charlotte and it starts Friday. Yeah well, I mean I know there's a chance now, now that the season's played out, everything's changed. I mean Clemson's 1-3. I mean, I know there's a chance now, now that the season's played out, everything's changed. I mean Clemson's 1-3.

Speaker 2:

I mean they look like terrible. I mean Miami is all the way up to number two in the country. Miami and Florida State look like two of the best teams in the country. Right but other than that, the ACC, georgia Tech and Georgia Tech. They look like they should be right there.

Speaker 3:

As it stands right now, winner or loser of the Miami-Florida State game, you know on paper Winner, especially On paper, the loser of that game.

Speaker 2:

If Florida State beats Virginia, which is that? I mean, it's an if you go on the road. If Florida State beats Virginia, which is that I mean? It's an if you go on the road, but that's going to be pencil that winner into the playoff, especially Miami.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, they'll be the front runner to be in Charlotte to win the conference. The winner of that game, the loser of the game. Nothing has changed in terms of playoff contention. You could even not go to the acc title game. Right still be it all.

Speaker 2:

I think it really depends on how you play in that game with. I think, if you play, if it's competitive on both sides and because that's a that's an historic rival, and if both teams were to finish the season and it's like people want to see that again, I think the committee will reward that and even though the competition thing but they'll be like Miami is one of the best teams in the country and they went right there with them.

Speaker 2:

That's the only game they lost, or right there, if Florida State's able to go undefeated and Miami's only loss is to Florida.

Speaker 3:

State Exactly.

Speaker 2:

So if you lose a close game, the winner. You almost want to have a rematch, first and foremost. But we talked about the other teams in the conference and the schedules, georgia Tech in particular with me. Yeah, but we'll see how they do with the target on their back.

Speaker 3:

Them going undefeated overall, though, is dicey because they have the end-of-the-year game with Georgia.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I know, but as terms of going to Charlotte that doesn't matter.

Speaker 3:

That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2:

If they make it to Charlotte and lose the championship game and lose to Georgia, they're not going to the playoff and that could happen to Georgia Tech?

Speaker 3:

You could get a team that's going to Charlotte, that has to win to be able to go to the playoffs, and have a team that's not going to Charlotte. That doesn't really matter what happens.

Speaker 2:

But then that will be the question then, if Georgia Tech were to win.

Speaker 1:

Right. Would you reward the team?

Speaker 2:

Three or there'd be two. We'll see how it goes. The ACC has good teams. I mean we're getting ahead of ourselves. Yeah, they got a few. They got good teams at the top Right, I think they do, but it's not as balanced.

Speaker 3:

There's just not a lot of mid-level the SEC doesn't really have.

Speaker 2:

They have a lot of good teams, yeah.

Speaker 3:

But not like the dominant team. Well, I mean, you look at the early season out-of-conference competition with the conferences and the ACC is very clearly at the bottom Right, Going 5-12. And that's going to be what plays into it at the end of the season is that every team out of the ACC, save for Miami and Florida State, has gotten their asses kicked, which makes that game so huge.

Speaker 2:

It's going to be a night, but Florida State hasn't played anybody. They shouldn't be. I mean in terms of having this be a trap game. You've been playing teams that you've been out. You outmatch them. This is the first time you you're in your conference. You should be yeah drooling over wanting to play this game right like miami game. Great, I mean, you have an extra day. I know miami's got a bye week before and after, yeah but, whatever it is what it is, and it's.

Speaker 3:

You know it's a rivalry game. You don't want to fucking lose, you don't want to. It's a rivalry game. You don't want to fucking lose, you don't want to, right.

Speaker 2:

But in the playoff era. In terms of where your team's at, they haven't. They've just been so hungry to play, it looks like, and the last these have been scrimmages. Man, they're going to be on national TV. Yeah, it's going to be the only game on TV this is going to be. A lot of people are going to be like let's see how good Florida State is I didn't watch these last two games so I think, this will be a team that's going to come out excited When's the last time they won in Virginia.

Speaker 2:

Well, they don't play up there that long. I know my boy, nibs, was up there getting a phantom holding call.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think the last time they played up there, taggart was the head coach, right? I mean I think it's been that long since they've played been a while it was I wanted to try to get to the game.

Speaker 2:

Um, nope, not gonna make it. But it's this friday college football. I mean, game day was in the florida miami game. That tells you you all you need to know about the schedule. So we can move on to the NFL, which was crazy, yeah, crazy football Sunday, man, I mean you had. And we'll start in Philly, where this was a great game. I mean, this is a tale of two halves in which it looked like the Rams were the team to beat in the NFC. They're coming back to get payback against the Eagles, shutting them down. The Hurts had 17 yards passing in the first half, this team's winning 26-7. And honestly, I watched the half. It should have been worse. They settled for like five field goals.

Speaker 2:

And I mean that's going to. Can't do that, but Philly man, the halftime speech was incredible. I think we have it.

Speaker 1:

Let's analyze what's been working for us. Not a goddamn thing's been working for us Like this goddamn suit doesn't work for me. And this stinking tie and this goddamn shirt it doesn't work for me. You know how to play winning, hard-nosed football. You play football like Engineero played football A play football like Edgeneiro played football A guy who gave his life for this football team. He was a 140-pound halfback and he played like a goddamn wild man, no, like a goddamn rampaging beast. And that's the way you're going to do it. You go out there, you take that fucking heads off and you're shit down the necks.

Speaker 2:

Let us pray fucking heads off and you're shit down the neck. Let us pray. And then they came out and did that on offense, just right back in the game.

Speaker 3:

Jaylen hurts and on defense, I mean you got the guy and the guy is a molt.

Speaker 2:

He can do it in different ways. The defense, you're right, the defense, special teams, two block kicks, yeah, that just the team that's been battle tested and the way they just turn the switch on and they can win in different ways they can to have that passing ability they can. If you want to be in an ugly game, fine, we'll do that too. Very impressed by the eagles, also impressed by the Chargers, the way they won that game. In terms of these teams that should have lost those games, eagles and Chargers, they just figured out ways to win. Those are just gritty wins. And it was the Chargers where you had a Denver team come in physically and hit him in the mouth, but the Chargers hung in there and they were only down seven and they had to have it drive. And Herbert man, one of the best throws I've seen, and that one he's running to his left, I mean throws across his body, a perfect throw.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think he's got as good an arm talent as anybody.

Speaker 2:

Oh, dude he's. I mean I can't. Tua was drafted ahead of him. Well, yeah. I mean just that, the physicality alone. This guy is like what you want, and you're seeing him run more this year. Harbaugh is there, so you know he's going to get the best out of everybody. That was a game. La loses every freaking time. That's different now.

Speaker 3:

This is a different thing. That was a loss.

Speaker 2:

This was a game. Wow. Those two teams right there impressed me in terms of man. They just were like no, we're gonna fight this thing out and we're gonna win. No, we're not gonna lose, we're gonna win this game and they fought for it and I was very impressed by that. Uh, rams got a rebound, but uh, they did make the drives on offense to go down. Yeah, but I mean then the kicker.

Speaker 3:

Field goals aren't going to beat Philly.

Speaker 2:

That's what it comes down to yeah, they should have put them away.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

They left them hanging around where they could go in and get retooled and come out and beat the crap and just turn into just a great team. And the Jets almost came back and beat the Bucs I mean your Bucs are taking. They did the same thing block a field goal and run it.

Speaker 2:

The Bucs are trying to kick a field goal and to pretty much go up 29 to 20, up nine, which covers the spread, and then, like, all right, the Jets battled, but then they blocked the kick. Yeah, take it back to the house.

Speaker 3:

Now they're up one I'm gonna be honest with you, but what?

Speaker 2:

baker doesn't? He's done three now three games where he's led into the into the game drives to win yeah, he's got it in him, man.

Speaker 3:

That's.

Speaker 2:

That's his gunslinger mentality, yeah and that's so like you don't. It almost was like oh wow, the Jets, this is going to be fun to watch now, but you almost expected the Bucs still to win that game.

Speaker 3:

I would roll with Tyrod Taylor the rest of the season If I were the Jets. Dude, you can't try Justin Fields back out there. Well, they will. Yeah, I know man. Back out there well they will once.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I know, man, they're paying them the money. But tyrod threw a terrible pick six, yeah, in the game, um that. But I'm impressed by the bucks toughness and those games right there. All came down to the end. All kinds of games can came down to the end. The niners an ugly. Nfc west battle against two 2-0 teams though.

Speaker 2:

And Shanahan knew that was an important game, though, and just to win that game was big Because it looked like Matt Jones looked like crap, right, but he stuck with him, he stuck with it and he delivered.

Speaker 3:

He put a drive together.

Speaker 2:

He put a drive together at the end and the defense was all over the place.

Speaker 3:

warner yeah, they lost nick bosa for the season.

Speaker 2:

He's out yeah, that's gonna another guy hits the bites, the dust right. I mean it's like just every every week, right, but that was a big win for the niners. It's gonna be a costly one. They're now in first place. Watch out for seattle, though they took I mean they they got to play the saints and they did what they should have done beat the living doors, the, the, the surprise of the day, you know, it's not even cleveland beating green bay we yeah, yeah, exactly it's the panthers shutting out the Falcons, the shutout.

Speaker 2:

The shutout. It's the NFL man. Yeah, you don't just get shut out. I'm talking like every year, how many shutouts are there in the league? I?

Speaker 3:

never Shutout, despite outgaining them. It's embarrassing. More rushing at more sacks. Oh, the stats were all in favor of the Falcons, but three turnovers and three failed fourth down conversions Wow, kept them out of the end zone. Wow.

Speaker 2:

No points and I just this is all of me saying Phoenix is a keeper. That was a dog crap game he played.

Speaker 3:

He just was terrible.

Speaker 2:

I mean just some terrible decisions.

Speaker 3:

Well you know, a couple games into the season. Now you've started to see tendencies.

Speaker 2:

Well, you look at his record and his numbers now. It's not good.

Speaker 3:

No.

Speaker 2:

And there's a lot of quarterbacks now. That don't look good. I mean Russell Wilson. Back to reality.

Speaker 3:

Dallas. Dallas is awful.

Speaker 2:

Dallas' defense is terrible. Yeah, I mean, that's why I picked Chicago. I was like, oh, they're going to be playing at home Dude.

Speaker 3:

Chicago's got guys that work at grocery stores playing in the secondary.

Speaker 2:

Well, they're going to play. It's kind of like I should have went with Carolina. It's like you're going to get it's the NFL man.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I mean, you want to win a freaking game here and when you haven't won after like three weeks, a lot of teams find a way yeah and God, to get beat 30 to nothing by Atlanta, though, whoa, whoa, that was an eye-opening beatdown. Yeah, that was crazy. That's a team that you think is going to battle for the division.

Speaker 3:

Well, they will, they will.

Speaker 2:

They will, because I mean there's is going to battle for the division.

Speaker 3:

Well, they will, they will, they will, because I mean there's only going to be one Bucs. Look like they're going to run away with it. Maybe the Falcons aren't that bad. They're not going to turn it over three times and fail.

Speaker 2:

It looks like they need to play the Saints.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, play the Saints.

Speaker 2:

They need to play the Saints quickly. The Houston Texans, they're awful. Yeah, the Jags were trying to give them chances to win, but the Jags now winning record. The Colts look like the class of that division. Daniel Dimes man, but the running game Jonathan Taylor some of those runs are insane.

Speaker 3:

That's what it is. They got the best offensive line out of any team in that division.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so give us a quarterback. Who's not an idiot?

Speaker 3:

The Texans cannot block anybody.

Speaker 2:

See how bad Anthony Richardson was. Yeah, he's horrible Like the guy. Oh man, what a payday for him.

Speaker 3:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

That just shows you the ratings and the effect of the combine.

Speaker 3:

Well, and his athletic ability. Being able to run real fast yeah, that's what it is being able to run real fast.

Speaker 2:

Well, at least maybe he'll just be able to run it he should, just he should literally try to move to a different position.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, as with the because I don't, I don't know as bad as he has no chance to play quarterback.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I don't know I don't think.

Speaker 3:

I don't. I think he's too soft. I don't think he likes that physicality, you're right. Well, yeah, it was a hell of a fun Sunday to watch. Giants suck. Yeah, they do. They're going to be.

Speaker 2:

They were dabbing for Dart. You got to put Dart in it's time. Yeah, I'm going to be. They were dabbing for Dart. You got to put.

Speaker 3:

Dart in. It's time. Yeah, I'm going to tell you I feel really bad for Brian Burns, even though he's making tons of money playing. But you play for Taggart, you play for the Panthers, you play for the Giants he's played 100 NFL games. He's won 27. Yep, but he's got. He got it. He got that contract man. You got a contract, right now he's.

Speaker 2:

He's one of the one of the best defensive players in the league this season, right it's just that, which their defensive line was one of the better units in the in the all football.

Speaker 3:

But yeah, that offense is it's garbage allergic to success. That was last garbage.

Speaker 2:

You weren't fool's gold that was last week, dude.

Speaker 3:

That's how you gave.

Speaker 2:

Russell Wilson a career high.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and we saw how bad the Cowboys are.

Speaker 2:

Well, Kansas City will make you look, will humble you fast. I knew that was going to happen. He wasn't going to be able to do anything.

Speaker 3:

No, they ended Jameis' little run in cleveland when he played the chiefs last year yeah, but that was last year's chiefs, that like I know they they got a good defense, but I still don't think they're going to do anything well, they, they need.

Speaker 2:

I don't know what. I thought they should have gone with james and dart. Right, what are you like?

Speaker 1:

what are you waiting?

Speaker 3:

on. You got six points at half and r Russ is already showing you that he's it's done, man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

That interception before the half in the end zone that he threw, when he just kind of threw it up.

Speaker 2:

Chargers next. You really want to have. The only way they'll probably just start Wilson is because they don't want to have dark.

Speaker 3:

So you don't want to have Dart start his first game against a good team like that. Throw booty out there, shit, you ain't afraid.

Speaker 2:

For real, you ain't afraid. Well, Jameis should be playing for somebody. Yeah, and I'm telling you right now you get it and look what the Colts did. I'm not Like he comes in there. I think there's a lot of guys I'm not saying that there's a lot of guys that could step into the Indianapolis Colts and one. It just shows you how the position is polarized.

Speaker 3:

I just look at his old team.

Speaker 2:

Well, position in general gets too much credit. Yeah, this game is violent and it's about team and and like, if you don't have good team and coaching and at that level, right, I don't care who you are his first four years of career.

Speaker 3:

He's playing under dirt cutter, so yeah so like this.

Speaker 2:

This guy's still in the league. I mean players respond to him. He's matured. I think he can limit the turnovers. Geez, have you seen some of the quarterback play?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's what it. Yeah, I mean, what's going on in New Orleans, you know, even in Cleveland, I mean I know they won. The quarterback play is horrible. New York Atlanta Both. New York Atlanta Both.

Speaker 2:

New York, with Atlanta on the list as teams that he would the.

Speaker 3:

Raiders Geno Smith, ain't it man?

Speaker 2:

Looks terrible.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, geno ain't doing nothing.

Speaker 2:

If he doesn't, why can't he get a job? Yeah?

Speaker 3:

Because of his career. Man Right Didn't help that the B, the bucks, won the super bowl. And yeah, right it was some bad.

Speaker 2:

I mean the greatest quarterback to ever do it right with a coach like bruce ariels after one year I mean I?

Speaker 2:

I have no doubt. I don't know if they wanted to win the super bowl, but they would have made the playoffs that year and I think they would have continued to be good if they never got brady. And and bruce said that, as in such, he's like hey, we would have kept james, but I mean brady became available, so we went with brady yeah, we went and got him as his favorite target, his tight end guy.

Speaker 3:

Grunt, we got a tackle for.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I don't blame them for doing that at all. You gotta win. It's the nfl, and the way he ended that season was terrible, but like the, what from what we've seen in the nfl has been even way worse than that.

Speaker 3:

Right there are guys that clearly can't so like it should be a league rule.

Speaker 2:

He has to go to a team, because then you know what he's gonna be fun to watch yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3:

If I'm the giants dude, I pull the plug on russ. Oh yeah, I would never sign him. But I think you got to go to dart eventually but yeah, but you have that, that cushion to ease them into it, like, hey, you know what? We're not gonna let you get killed against the chargers. That's why we got jamis, because he's not gonna gonna go out there and have a good time playing man.

Speaker 2:

We got a good one tonight. Ravens-lions Be a fun matchup, better be a good one Last night was just absolute trash.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, best part of the night was Andy Reid getting physical with Kelsey.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I knew that was going to be just a sleep fest because that defense was going to shut down New York. It was going to be the complete opposite of the Cowboys game. Cowboys like Giants game was just between so bad teams. It was like oh yeah, it was great to watch. We're like these teams are both shit. The Mac conference of the NFL. It really was Right. Who's the best team right now?

Speaker 2:

we were saying green bay, I think philly, you got to give philly yeah, I think they're, you got to give philly, the strongest in the nfc and I think home field is going to be huge, especially now we're only getting one by. Yeah, so they that game between them and the rams was so huge and think that's going to come back to matter at the end of the year.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I don't really see how anybody else in the NFC West is going to challenge the Rams.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, if Matt Stafford stays healthy.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

That's all you know, they do have Jimmy G at backup.

Speaker 3:

Hey man, the guy went to the super bowl yeah, he did with a loaded roster and then completely fucking blew it like at a guy, wide open for the win, for all the glory and overthrew him by like 20 feet. Great job, he just doesn't have it. Uh, he's another tony romo he does all, all good stuff looks great, but he just doesn't have it.

Speaker 2:

Bills look good, we'll find we'll see the ravens tonight. I think we'll. I want to see what this should be a high scoring game, though, um yeah I want to see what defense is going to play if, uh, I just think ravens being at home though with that offense, it's going to give the defense and be able to pin their ears back yeah, it's regular season, man.

Speaker 3:

The pressure's off of lamar jackson when he does all his amazing stuff.

Speaker 2:

I got him on my fantasy too so it's just regular season.

Speaker 3:

Man right, it's lamar the show 63 points against Florida State For real. God, dude, you might want to stop that guy.

Speaker 2:

Insane. He's just had a great career. I mean, if he puts it together in the playoffs and he's still young, yeah, and he's getting better with his passing.

Speaker 1:

He is.

Speaker 2:

Because the first part of his career they ran the ball. It's kind of you know the good players, they evolve Right and you saw Brady evolve.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, they get, they feel it out.

Speaker 2:

And the guy's a winner, but not in terms of like being the champion.

Speaker 3:

But I think there's more intrigue in the AFC this year.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah About who it's going to be. Oh yeah, because it always feels like the chiefs, right, but I don't know. Well, I told you they weren't winning the division. I still think they can be a playoff team.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, chiefs, they can. They can find themselves in the wild card.

Speaker 2:

Defense. That defense is is just difficult to deal with. Difficult to deal with, yeah, and mahomes is still good if they just need help and they'll get some help. Back on offense, they need some. They just have to survive. Yeah, they get some, some and I think they'll get better worthy, you'll get better and they'll get their. Their jailbird wide receiver will get come back and I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade for kansas city. They need to go out and get tyree kill yeah, they need to bring him back.

Speaker 2:

Bring him back In terms of like football and where he would fit in and where he's needed.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, like the.

Speaker 2:

Dolphins need to try to get as much for him as they can.

Speaker 3:

Why they can. Why they can? Before this investigation, shit starts to happen.

Speaker 2:

Kansas City. They need a guy for one year.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

They're just going to run fast.

Speaker 3:

Hey, you've done it before.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's going to be playing hard for one year, right At first, this may be it for you, tyreek, so I think that I would not be surprised to see that move.

Speaker 3:

Andy Reid wants to win. I'm looking to see who the Niners are going to do about the pass rush.

Speaker 2:

Well, yeah, the Niners what?

Speaker 3:

are they going to do about the pass rush? Well, yeah, the.

Speaker 2:

Niners man. That's a big loss. He was playing well. You got to get Brian Burns. Yeah, there's some players on some bad teams that can make big differences.

Speaker 3:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

We'll find out. I mean, we didn't get a chance to talk about the Browns. They should be 2-1. If they wouldn't have cut Hopkins, you'd have to think he makes one of them. That's what they get, man, but he was blowing it. Anyway, it's just the he's not going to miss an extra point, but the Browns, that defense man.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you got. Miles Garrett yeah best player in the league, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Which is, I mean, one of the best games, the first ever like 99.0 rating by a player was done yesterday by the Vikings, by the Vikings, secondary player Right, one of their younger guys, I mean this guy. Two defensive touchdowns I mean. But dude, he was in the right spot and the ball hawk and he'd take them to the house. That was incredible the vikings and you had their defense.

Speaker 3:

Wow, that was nice, right vikings showed up I finally started throwing the ball to aj brown, one of my receivers.

Speaker 2:

Nice second half. We started with that um, so nfl was definitely more interesting, but I think this week this week college starts to ramp up.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, oh yeah, we had to go.

Speaker 2:

Well, we got to get on out of here, but before we go, friday it's Virginia. Here they come.

Speaker 3:

Here they come Meet Virginia. Here's some. Here they come Meet Virginia. Here's some just-in breaking news. Dj Lagway back in a walking boot today.

Speaker 2:

I mean, that's probably a good thing for Gator fans. I think what that?

Speaker 3:

indicates is it's shutdown time.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he needs to just go take a walk and just rethink somewhere.

Speaker 3:

He won't be there next year.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I was going to say where he's going to play next year.

Speaker 3:

Napier will be out probably in the next couple games. I think he'll transfer back to Texas, go to Houston somewhere like that, somewhere that you know where his athleticism and being 6'2 and 240 and just going to be able to do that and win some games for somebody. You're not a big-time QB man. You missed a lot of development time so you need to go, and you know, in a walking boot.

Speaker 2:

We'll see.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, not good, just put that on the board. They should have benched him yeah.

Speaker 2:

There's nothing behind him, man. They benched him in the LSU game.

Speaker 3:

They can win that game Right but you know, you said it yourself the NIL deals the kid that stands to make close to $10 million in his time at Florida. Like you're not taking him out.

Speaker 2:

Well, we'll see if Castellanos see if that ankle holds up On the road. We'll see this offense. This looks like a machine. You just got to keep running the ball and I love the different ways to run it and that's what I love about this. Offense so far is just the multiple ways Playing a lot of guys Right. Offense so far is just the multiple ways Playing a lot of guys Right. Passing is like one of the dimensions of because there's like three different running types, so it's like we'll throw it out.

Speaker 3:

there too, you can play action with the run game.

Speaker 2:

actually, you can fake runs to run and then every now and then, pass this is why people hate playing against Gus because the passes are lethal. You have to watch out for those. So you keep running the damn ball. I'm anxious to see it on the road against a conference opponent. We'll watch it, we'll react to it, we'll pick some games before that, and until then we'll talk to it. We'll pick some games before that, and until then we'll talk to you next time, right here 2.3 yards per completion.
