Betting The NFL: Home Dogs and Chaos Across The League
Let me ask you one question.
SPEAKER_00:The north floor is for the North Floor exposure. You gotta give us the north floor is born, never exposed networks.
SPEAKER_02:Hey I guess it's red weekend. Before we get started, let's go over the standings from last week. Three-way tie! Alright! At 5 and 9 for yours curly, Jimmy and Justin. Mike was 4 and 10. Yikes. Overall on the season. I'm leading the way at 71 and 64. Mike in second place 67 and 68. Jimmy 65 and 70. And Justin 58 and 73. Ay, ay, ay, ay. Halfway through though, turn it around. And it starts tonight. AFC West battle. The Raiders. God awful Raiders, but they covered last week. Damn it. Yeah. Damn it. They're getting nine in Denver.
SPEAKER_01:Jimmy? Oh me, huh? Yeah. Uh well. Can they cover two weeks in a row? I just don't like taking Bo Nick's that big a spread, man. Yeah. Even if it's at home. You know what? Give me the shitty ass Raiders. All right. You're going to Raiders plus nine.
SPEAKER_02:Mike, who you got?
SPEAKER_03:Man, uh, I'm a Bo Nick believer, but uh I don't know about these big numbers.
SPEAKER_02:I'm gonna go with the last week they got Raiders to cover. All right, Justin.
SPEAKER_03:What happened last week?
SPEAKER_02:I mean, the Dolphins, they had a big number, and but the Ravens covered.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Um, Justin, who you got?
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I can't trust the Broncos to blow out the Raiders. Yeah. Uh I mean, I just don't see them blowing them out. They don't really blow teams out. Right. So I gotta take the coverage.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, nine's too much. Give me the Raiders as well. Oh, geez, man.
SPEAKER_04:God, that sucks. That sucks. We all had to take the goddamn Raiders.
SPEAKER_02:Right. What a shit show. Not this one, though. All right. Let's go to uh let's go to Germany. All right. Yeah. Get you a Schitzel or a Schnitzel. Schnitzel, sorry. All right. Uh the Colts are gonna be playing the Falcons. Ooh. Colts coming off a loss to Pittsburgh. Falcons coming off a close loss to New England.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Missed extra point.
SPEAKER_02:Yep. Um, so the Falcons are getting six and a half. Mike, who you got?
SPEAKER_03:I'm gonna take the Colts. I'm gonna get back on it.
SPEAKER_02:All right. Justin.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I agree. Uh I mean the Colts just that at Sauce Gardner, man. I mean, their team is freaking loaded. I think they bounce back. I think Sauce gets a pick off of Michael Phoenix.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, it's a good thing I put Drake London on my bench in fantasy last week. He blew up.
SPEAKER_04:I thank you for that.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, and uh we'll see will be able to get three touchdowns. That's probably who will get that matchup is Gardner. Oh man, six and a half is a lot, though. I'll take the Falcons. Jimmy.
SPEAKER_01:I'm gonna take the Colts. Former Colt, former Seminole, Bjorn Venna, the face of football in Germany. Give me the Colts. Alright.
SPEAKER_02:Alright, let's go to Miami. Uh the Dolphins. Ugh, god awful. Um Jaden Phillips. It's not looking good. The GM, though, is out of there. Yeah. Baby steps. They're getting nine at home against the Bills. I was wrong on the Bills last week. I'm not going to do it again. Give me the Bills. Mike?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I mean, if the Ravens just blew them out, uh, Bill's gotta be at least as good at the Ravens, right? I'll take the Bills.
SPEAKER_02:All right, Justin.
SPEAKER_03:Get the table!
SPEAKER_01:Bill hang 40. All right, Jimmy. Where's this? Where's this game? It's in Buffalo? It's in Miami. You don't think they're gonna have a little hangover from beating the Chiefs? Kind of sleepwalk through this one? Nah, give me the big. Two tables.
SPEAKER_02:All right. Let's go to Tampa. Good game here. The Patriots are coming down to Tampa. Drake May and the Patriots are getting two and a half in Tampa.
SPEAKER_01:In the Sunburn Hotel.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, Mike, who you got?
SPEAKER_03:I'm Patriots. I'm Team Patriots from now on.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Justin.
SPEAKER_04:Oh man, as much as I love Baker.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:I love Drake May more.
SPEAKER_02:Off of bye week.
SPEAKER_04:Give me the pad. Yep, give me the pad.
SPEAKER_02:Alright. Um. Jimmy?
SPEAKER_01:I'm going to take the bucks. I don't have any reason behind it. I'm just going to.
SPEAKER_02:Is he back?
SPEAKER_01:Who? Igbuka? Abuka, yeah. Um, I mean, you know, it's still Baker. I'm going to go with Baker, man. I think they win by a field goal. You say it's two and a half?
SPEAKER_02:It's yeah, the Patriots are getting two and a half. It's gonna be a shootout. Minus two and a half at home for the Bucks. I'll take it. The Patriots, they gotta come back, come back to Earth at some point. I'll take the Bucks. All right, let's go to Minnesota. Baltimore turning is turning it around, Minnesota. The defense really stood up last week, shut down the Vikings. They they now will face each other in Minnesota. Uh, Vikings are getting four at home. Justin, who you got?
SPEAKER_04:Huh. Yeah. Yeah, let me take the home dog. Let me get the Vikings.
SPEAKER_02:Vikings, home dog barking. Alright. Mike.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I like the Vikings. Uh, I'm not still a believer in Baltimore, so I'm going Vikings.
SPEAKER_01:Jimmy? Yeah, me too, man. I I just don't still not buy Baltimore. I am. Are you?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_02:I am. I think the defense has been once they got their guys back, they've been healthy. And if they can stop people, it's a regular season team, man. That's what they do. I'm gonna go Baltimore by more than four. Okay. Let's go to New York, my Jets. Your Jets. This is the matchup of all time. Our hosting the Browns. All right. Here we go.
SPEAKER_01:Shit, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Name of the week. Yeah. If you didn't know if you were the last like broadcast team when you got the assignment, yeah. You knew. Yeah, that's you know where you fall in the pillow. I am last. Uh it turns out I am the last guy. Yeah. Yeah. All right.
SPEAKER_04:Is that like uh I am the eagle son? Doesn't he do some games? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:He does a bit. He's on NDC. Yeah. Yeah. So Terry Bradshaw's too. Somebody, yeah. Jerry Bradshaw. Or like that one woman that doesn't. Rosie O'Donnell.
SPEAKER_04:This is zero D D all day long.
SPEAKER_02:All right, so the Jets uh are getting two at home over the Browns. God, this game sucks so bad. Mike, what do you got?
SPEAKER_03:I think the uh I think the Jets are gonna rally around all their former compatriots who have just been traded.
SPEAKER_04:So for some crazy reason, I think the Jets are gonna pull this one out.
SPEAKER_02:Alright. Justin.
SPEAKER_04:Well, I gotta pick against the Jets because I'm picking every other Dolphin rival to win constantly. So I gotta at least homer this one up. Miles Garrett gets five sacks.
SPEAKER_02:I mean, five sacks and still loses.
SPEAKER_05:But he didn't lose to Justin.
SPEAKER_02:I mean, he's incredible, man. He's worth every penny.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:I mean, like, you have to at least at least if you're the Browns, you can be like, dude, at least we get like come see this guy, this freak show play. He's the best of his time. That's at least you have something. But geez. Right. The Jets got nothing. Two points at home. My Jets. Oh, yeah, baby. Give them to me. Shoot it in my veins.
SPEAKER_01:Right there. Jimmy, who you got? I'm gonna go Browns. Oh, wow. Rarely. I think they'll just run the ball. I mean, Justin, who you got?
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I'm going with the Browns, dude.
SPEAKER_02:All right. All right. Let's move on to Chicago. That's my best. That game last week. Holy God, that was crazy. Cincinnati games in Cincinnati the last two weeks have been insane. There's been like 160 points. Just been both losses by the best.
SPEAKER_04:We need the feds to investigate Al Golden's betting history. Oh my goodness. Because I'm pretty confident he is doing something. He is making bank.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Well, the Giants are going on the road. They're getting four points in Chicago. Jimmy? Gimme the Bears.
SPEAKER_01:The bears. I'm going to ride the hot hand and they'll probably be able to do that. I'm going to take the bears there.
SPEAKER_02:They got big explosive plays. I'm going to take them at home. Justin?
SPEAKER_04:Oh, God.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, four.
SPEAKER_04:If Cam Scottaboo wasn't hurt, I would definitely take the Giants. But I think I gotta take that bum ass quarterback Caleb Williams and the Marys.
SPEAKER_02:Alright. Uh Mike.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, you know, you guys did so crappy last week. I think I'm gonna take something different than what all three of you guys agree on. There you go.
SPEAKER_02:Giants plus four.
SPEAKER_04:You guys don't know what you're doing any more than I do.
SPEAKER_02:So uh well I do. All right, let's go to the NFC South as the Panthers coming off the big upset win in Lambeau are gonna be at home playing the Saints and Shuck. Shuck. Yeah, Shuck and the Saints. He sucks. How do they get Shuck out of that last name? Yeah. I'll take this I'll take the Panthers, man. Minus five. All right, Jimmy?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I'm not picking the Saints, man. Ever. Justin? Shuck dad.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, I can't pick the Saints, and Shuck's not a professional quarterback.
SPEAKER_02:Yep. Uh Mike.
SPEAKER_04:Do the Panthers have a winning record? What's the reason?
SPEAKER_02:You know he's Justin Herbert's former backup at Oregon. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:That's why he was a backup and had to transfer. Yeah. He's a rookie. He's like a 28-year-old rookie.
SPEAKER_02:Paul Blake of the NFL. Oh my god, man. Crazy.
SPEAKER_03:I'll go Panthers.
SPEAKER_02:All right. All right, let's go. So we're all in Carolina. Let's go to Houston. Um, Jack, I think uh Stroud is out. Yeah, Stroud's out. Uh Davis Mills. Davis Mills, guy from Stanford, will be playing. The Texans are getting one point at home. Who are they playing? The Jags. Okay. Who? The Jags. Jacksonville Jaguars. Justin, who you got?
SPEAKER_04:Oh, dude, the Jags just acquired uh Jacoby Myers.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:No CJ Stroud. Just as soon as the Texans start to get their shit together and they lose their quarterback, I'll take the Jags.
SPEAKER_02:Alright. I don't think the quarterback really matters.
SPEAKER_01:I think Miles Davis or whatever the hell his name is. Davis Mills. Davis Mills. Miles Davis would be the uh famous jazz musician. That's right. Davis Mills. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02:Mills Davis. Get him confused. Alright. Man. This is going to be one of those games, but you know what? God, the Jags didn't look good last week. No, they didn't. I'm going to go Texans here at home. Give me the home dog. Mike.
SPEAKER_03:It seems like a crazy line that they're favored without their starting quarterback, right?
SPEAKER_02:Well, no, they're plus one, but yeah, but it's like a pick'em. It's plus one Houston. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I'm going to go Houston. I don't know. Those people know more than I do.
SPEAKER_02:Alright. Um Justin?
SPEAKER_04:Oh yeah, no, I'm taking the Jags.
SPEAKER_02:Jags and then Jimmy. I'm going to take the Texans. Alright. Alright. Let's go to Seattle as the Seahawks, man. They look really good. And they're going to be playing the Jacoby Brissett led Cardinals as they have made the switch pretty much. Yeah, yeah. Which I think this is a good decision.
SPEAKER_01:Well, Murray's still hurt, but he also came out.
SPEAKER_02:He came out and said, like, even if he wasn't hurt, if you look at the numbers, man. He's not terrible, but he's not$50 million. Hell no. Like, and Jacoby Brissett is way more of a bargain. He plays better and you can get him for way cheaper. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And so they already paid him, right?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, I know, but they gotta cut, but I'm just saying, you gotta cut your losses, man. You can't you can't move on with that. You can't just play somebody because you're paying them.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, I got it. Okay.
SPEAKER_02:You know what I mean? They're paying him, but he's not producing. All right. But they're getting the Cardinals, though, coming off the big win in Dallas. Uh 10-point win on the road are gonna be in Seattle. They're getting six and a half division opponent. Justin, who you got?
SPEAKER_04:Oh, yeah, division opponent. I think that's too many points, but as well as Brisset still.
SPEAKER_02:Well, yeah, that's the guy for me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:I I wish Chris Greer could have had the foresight that the Cardinals GM apparently has, and Bench, the short little guy that gets injured all the time for Brissett. Right. Because we had Brissett last year in Miami. Dude, Jacoby Brissett.
SPEAKER_02:These guys, Jacoby Brissett, Jameis Winston, like these guys. I'm I know, I know, but I'm I'm just saying you can get production for I mean, I'm not paying fit like Tua. I'm not paying it. He's not worth it. I'd rather have I'd rather have one of those guys for way out on the cheap and just hope for a good season. But I like Jacoby Brissett. Six and a half is too much. I'll take the Cardinals, even though I really like the Seahawks, but I think the Cardinals will keep it close. Because that's what they do. That's all they do. They just Seahawks just got Rashid from the Saints. Oh, I know. Ooh. That's a big get. Yeah. Put him with Jigba. Smith Jigba. Oh man, that's a big get for the the Seahawks. I'm still gonna.
SPEAKER_03:Oh God.
SPEAKER_02:Mike, who you got?
SPEAKER_03:I'm going Seattle. I think they're kind of for real.
SPEAKER_02:So I'm gonna go. Game's in Seattle. It's in Seattle. Yeah. I think Seattle's been better on the road, though. This game. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna stick with the Cardinals. I'm gonna take the points. And they're gonna try to keep it close. Jimmy? I think the Seahawks do it by a touchdown. And then you had the Cardinals, right, Justin?
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, everybody win.
SPEAKER_02:Alright, alright, so let's go to San Francisco. Big game here. We the Rams are coming in to San Francisco. Where the Niners beat him the first time. This time they're hosting them and getting points. They're getting four and a half points at home. Mike? What do you got? Really? Alright. Justin.
SPEAKER_04:It's the weekend of the home dog for me. Give me the Niners.
SPEAKER_02:Niners, four and a half. Do they win?
SPEAKER_04:I wouldn't bet that.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_04:Uh Justin.
SPEAKER_02:I mean, uh, I'm sorry, Jimmy. What do you think, man? So uh Bork's a lot of familiarity here.
SPEAKER_01:Familiarity. Bork Bork is gonna be back, right? Purdy. Yeah. Honestly. Give me the Rams.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:By like 10.
SPEAKER_02:I just really? Yeah. I just think these teams know so much.
SPEAKER_01:Right. Well then then it comes into you know who's healthy.
SPEAKER_02:Right. And the Rams. The Rams got all their guys. And uh Stafford's playing at MVP level. Right. And you get if you it isn't Puka gonna be alright. Because you play him up with Adams, man, and they're both healthy.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I just yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Even though it's four and a half's a lot for this matchup, I'll go Rams here. Alright. Um let's go to Washington. Rematch of uh the divisional playoffs last year where the commanders went into Detroit and beat the Lions. The Lions are coming off a home loss to the Vikings. They're gonna be on the road playing Marcus Mariota and the Commanders. Getting eight points at home, though. Justin?
SPEAKER_04:Alright, maybe it's not the weekend of the Home Dogs for me. Uh I think the Lions absolutely maul the Commanders, dude. Like they might hang 50 on them.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Payback. All right. I think the Lions get right. Uh, I don't think they're gonna be able to keep it close with Mario and company. Mike?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I'm with you, fellas. All right. The Lions are gonna be angry.
SPEAKER_02:Jimmy. Yeah. Damn. Lions, man. All right. All right. Let's go to LA. The Charges. Sunday night are gonna be hosting the Steelers. Ooh. Yeah. Milksteak versus Friar Tuck. There we go. And the Steelers are getting two and a half on the road. Joe Walt's done for the year. Which doesn't mean anything because I guarantee you there'll be more Steelers fans in LA. Yeah. I'm gonna take the Steelers here.
SPEAKER_01:Okay.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. I think the defense made a big statement last week. I think they show up again. I think Rogers does enough. I'll take the Steelers and the points, Justin.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, no, I'm with you. I think the Steelers win this one outright. Um, with no Joe Alt. Joe Alt is really one of the things that we're gonna do.
SPEAKER_02:They did trade for the alignment from the Saints. Yeah, pinning, but I mean I'm just letting uh yeah, they've got offensive line it's just a fancy trash can Yeah that's not something you can exactly plug in.
SPEAKER_04:I mean offensive line needs to work together.
SPEAKER_02:Oh I know, and that's that's a staple to Jim Harbaugh. That's milk steak, man.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, yeah. Without without Joe Hall, TJ Watt's gonna go off, dude. I I I think Pittsburgh wins outright.
SPEAKER_02:It's like hamburger steak. No. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So um Mike, who you got?
SPEAKER_03:Speaking of the Chargers.
SPEAKER_01:All right, Jimmy. I also think the Steelers will win outright. All right.
SPEAKER_02:Monday night. Let's go to Green Bay. As they just, I mean, you never know what you're gonna get just when you think they're just when you think they're like, all right, Jordan Love, turn the corner. This is the team in the NFC that we thought we'd see. They lose at home to the Panthers. Yeah. And look shitty doing it. Yeah. Yeah. So but now they got the the Super Bowl champs coming in. And but the Packers are still favored. The Eagles are getting two. Justin, what do you got?
SPEAKER_04:The Eagles and the Packers.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, good matchup here.
SPEAKER_04:It should be. I don't trust the Packers for shit, man. I think the Eagles are coming off of my dude. Give me the Eagles.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Mike?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I'm with Justin. I'll take the Eagles.
SPEAKER_01:Wow. Lambeau. Jimmy. Yeah, they uh they they bolstered their pass rush, man. They went and got Phillips from Miami. Yeah. Give me the Eagles. I'm kind of surprised that Green Bay's favorite in this.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, well, I mean, I think it's just Lambeau. Lambo, man, really. The defense for Green Bay has been playing well.
SPEAKER_01:Well, Carolina didn't have a big problem going in there and winning in Lambeau. Right.
SPEAKER_02:I think uh You're thinking too much, man. You're thinking too much. I think Green Bay gets it right.
SPEAKER_01:I think you're wrong, Ed.
SPEAKER_02:You know what? You're right. You're right. Give me the Eagles. Exactly. I'll take the Eagles, anyways. You know what? All right. Today!
SPEAKER_01:Do a little better this week.
SPEAKER_04:We got a shuttle.
SPEAKER_02:Well, we gotta get on out of here. Our Rod's here. But before we go, there it was. The Florida State Seminoles back on the hardwood Tuesday night with the win.
SPEAKER_01:108. Knowles and Canes both off to a 1-0 start. The Gators lost. Yes. Their eight-footer did not play.
SPEAKER_02:Wow.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:So there you go. Does he have a problem with a great start to turning around and throwing, like just dropping the ball? I don't know, man. Like all he is bad. That's what I'm saying. He must like have trouble running and stuff. Like, oh, he fell over again.
SPEAKER_01:My back hurts.
SPEAKER_02:But man, it's fun, man. If you like, I watched it. 17 assists from McRae, a school record on his first night. How about that? Yeah. They're gonna play as hard as and as fast as physically possible. I like it. I like it. I think both coach Miami and Florida State are gonna be on the rise and hoops. I like both the coaches. Both young, both hot. The guy from Duke. Jai Lucas. Yeah, Jai Lucas from Duke. Yeah. He's killing it. Laux is killing it. Both just are gonna take advantage of this era. And you know, because kids still, I mean, if you're only gonna be there for a year, you know. Yeah. I think college basketball is gonna actually benefit from this a lot.
SPEAKER_01:One guy that is still losing is Doug Gottlieb. They dropped their season opener. Oh, he's still got his pocket. Right. And the hosting green batteries. As soon as they got beat, he tweets out that like the team they played against best player, oh, he's the closest thing to Kobe I've seen. My life. It's weird.
SPEAKER_02:Florida State in football has the Clemson Tigers. And who would have thought? Oh my god. The three and five Clemson Tigers posting the four and four Florida State Ceminals.
SPEAKER_01:Has lost six straight home games to power four opponents. If they lose to Florida State, it will be the longest streak since 1917. Wow. Wow.
SPEAKER_05:Good God, dude.
SPEAKER_01:That's insane.
SPEAKER_02:That is insane, man. Yeah. Well, we'll watch them. We'll react to them. And we'll talk to you next time, right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
SPEAKER_05:You gotta give us a shot. You know what you batch?
