Florida State Season Postmortem

Austin Fletcher Season 4 Episode 408
SPEAKER_01:

Let me ask you one question.

SPEAKER_00:

The note lower is bone floor is bored the note lower is boring. The note blow is bone.

SPEAKER_01:

It is just another football Monday. A big one.

SPEAKER_02:

A big one.

SPEAKER_01:

Big loser.

SPEAKER_02:

Praise John. No more Florida State football. It's over. For the season. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01:

We didn't give you an instant reaction because they didn't deserve it. It was a blowout by the Gators.

SPEAKER_02:

Right, it wasn't even as we'll touch on that. It wasn't even as close as the 19 points.

SPEAKER_01:

No, it garbage touchdown.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01:

A blowout. Dominated.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. By the running game.

SPEAKER_01:

And you were outmatched by a team that had won three games prior to that game.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

But just the way you got physically dominated. Pushed around.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, man. There's there's no difference. You know, if Florida State would have played a team from the American Athletic Conference instead of Kent State, they would have been running in there. They both finished four and eight. You know. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

It's still mind-boggling that this team. It's a season sport.

SPEAKER_02:

And uh they peaked in week one.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, you can shoot out of a cannon in one week and then literally fall off a cliff. And then play two nobodies and get your head blown up. But they haven't done like since that game, two wins.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. And what's crazy is the two wins since that game, they they you know, they blew teams out.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, teams that they that didn't deserve, like it was the unmatched. Anytime they had against Division I scholarship players or in the conference. Yeah, I it honestly I don't understand it.

SPEAKER_02:

The Wake Forest win is as big of a head scratcher as beating Alabama.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

To me. Wake Forest is gonna go to a bowl game.

SPEAKER_01:

Right. Well, I mean, last year they beat Cal and Mendoza. It's gonna go be the first, probably quarterback picked in the trench. This team's just frustrating, man. It's just not good enough to do it in the season. No. Like it's good, it's got enough like spark to maybe catch fire for one game a year. You're a shitty team that sometimes teams don't want to play. Yeah, so if I was an SEC team, I'm you're done playing FSU.

SPEAKER_02:

No, we'll play Alabama. There's no need to play them because you're not gonna get any credit for it. Next year, we'll get our asses kicked. It'll be third game. Everybody will be nice and broken in, and it'll be 41 to 6.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, yeah, that's pretty much it. Well, you have now um things that you wanna, I guess the season's over. And we said, I said, you know, that's why the six-win dream was the that was it. That was the standard, that was the mark that we set. Yeah. That's it. You shouldn't be here anymore. And he didn't make it. And with a win against Alabama, which is just mind body. But they made the stupid decision to give him that contract and shouldn't let him walk to Alabama or called him on his bluff.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

I mean, my daughter bluffs me all the time. Right. About stuff. Just gotta call him out.

SPEAKER_02:

All right, you want to go coach Alabama and be the guy after Nick Saban? Go ahead.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Go ahead. Step right up, buddy.

SPEAKER_02:

Dude, what a fucking thing.

SPEAKER_01:

But we are suffering from that. Uh next year is gonna be a long, just the worst thing possible is gonna come in, and that's just people not caring.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

You know, like getting mad about it is just even already in the rearview mirror.

SPEAKER_02:

Right, because you already know what to expect.

SPEAKER_01:

It's not gonna be a good thing. It's gonna be the same crap over again next year. And I guess they'll hope for magic. And if not, we'll say it we'll fire him next year or if they can.

SPEAKER_02:

Who knows?

SPEAKER_01:

They probably don't have the money. It's getting to the point where you don't even care.

SPEAKER_02:

No, you can't care. Why would you care about this guy and his program?

SPEAKER_01:

Well, he's r taking it down. And it's just bad loss. Hopefully it'll get better.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Well, I mean, that that's that's the thing, is like everybody else in the country matters how you lose.

SPEAKER_01:

And the way it just seemed like every especially on the road, it seemed like the Virginia game was your best road game, even though the defense got demolished, at least you scored and it went to overtime. Yeah, and I mean You know, you had responses and shit. Like there it just seems like slowly the offense has just gotten terrible on the road. They can't do anything. No move it in the 20s, maybe give a couple plays, and then just shut down or turn it over.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it there's all kinds of reasons, man. You know, you could nitpick. They don't score.

SPEAKER_01:

They don't score. And they get the yards because the rankings and the statistical columns went up. But when it matters, this team folds. This team can't see see it. The quarterback's late. He doesn't have a strong enough arm. He's not fast enough.

SPEAKER_02:

Right, very limited.

SPEAKER_01:

If he's gonna be that short, you gotta be like a magician back there, and you gotta be fast enough. And he whether it's injuries or just I don't think he is.

SPEAKER_02:

You don't really have a complete running game. You don't have anything.

SPEAKER_01:

So I don't want him back. He can't come back. He wants to come back. Yeah, I mean, you know there. Who wouldn't want to move on? Keep coaching, keep playing. That's gotta be your first move.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, we'll if you're the coach.

SPEAKER_01:

I mean, you're like, geez. See what happens. We already did all the we gotta get a new, we gotta try it again and we get at least somebody else.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean a lot of it depends on who the offensive coordinator is. Yep. Gus leaves, then yeah. I mean, I I don't but at the end of the day, who cares? There's nothing that's saving this this guy.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Well, a big loss season, five and seven for the Knowles. Um that now the statistical things don't they kind of because you went and got Gus and they ran like that's what he does. And even Mark Rick was telling you that, and a lot of those yards were done against in the first game. Yeah. Like if you look at it in crunch time, I bet you could break it down and it's not that big of an improvement. No, I mean you when it counted, you lost. You you doubled your win total. I mean, yeah, you had you went and got better players in certain positions.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, you went from the worst offensive team in the country to like, you know, lower half.

SPEAKER_01:

It wasn't complimentary football at all. No. Defense was worse. It it was just just bad. It's bad everywhere. And hopefully that they can make the adjustments. Ah, there's no adjustments. I know, right? Because you have to get players and he doesn't do that. There's no hope. Right? If you have if you had if you was a hell of a recruiter and you had good players coming in, but he hasn't been able to recruit, so he can't now he's not winning, so he's still not gonna be able to recruit. Yeah. So that was the problem all along.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, and you know, the the good players off this team, you there's no reason to think.

SPEAKER_01:

So you're gonna be in this, you're gonna be in the portal again to try to do everything. So there you go. Yep. We right, there's no hope. We Florida hires uh two-lane coach.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I know you like him. Yeah, he's a solid coach, man. Solid. But they could have done worse. It's funny that they're all pissed because they didn't get Lane Kiffin.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Uh Lane Kiffin's going to LSU.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, what a dick.

SPEAKER_01:

What a drama. What a little spoiled brat.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. Yep, yep, yep, yep. But I mean, LSU got their guy. Auburn hires USF coach. Gulash.

SPEAKER_01:

Gulish, Jewish coach. Yeah. He's Russian. Russian, but he's I think he's still no, he's Russian. He's not Jewish. Oh, he's not? Nope. Sorry.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. He is not Yiddish. He is a uh a rusky.

SPEAKER_01:

I don't it doesn't matter anyway. I don't know why he was.

SPEAKER_02:

Escaped war-torn Russia when he was a kid.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, uh, Alex Golish um is going to Arkansas. No, he's going to Auburn. Auburn, Silverfield's good. Silverfield, Memphis coach. Arkansas.

SPEAKER_02:

Protesting that hire. Fans are not happy there.

SPEAKER_01:

At Arkansas?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Uh well, there's that's what there's no one really to get. James Madison coach is going to UCLA. What else? What else? What else? Michigan State's hired Pat Fitzgerald. Mark Stoops is out at Kentucky. They're going to hire offensive coordinator at Oregon, Will Stein. Living the dream, man. Yep. Penn State still hasn't made a hire. A lot of rumors. They're going to take BYU's coach. Sataki. Which is an interesting one to me. That guy's a Utah cipher. Right. Yeah. He's never been really anywhere other than BYU or Utah. So we'll see how that works. But yeah, everybody uh getting nice new shiny toys except for us. So we already have our nice polished turd. Got our nice polished turd. Corn speckles all in it.

SPEAKER_01:

Well it's pretty infuriating. Infuriating. You know what would be infuriating if I was an ACC fan or Miami fan. How Miami got a fucking joke of a conference, man. Beats the crap out of Pitt at Pitt. Probably a really good win for them. They've been doing what they need to do, but that doesn't matter because the fifth tiebreaker goes to your opponents in conference winning percentage, and Florida State with another loss and only two wins in the conference did nothing but probably put Miami under the mark of Duke. If they do what they're expected, Miami's in that game.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Well, yeah, yeah. And you have to do what you're expected all season.

SPEAKER_01:

But that's that's such a stupid determining factor when you have other things to determine it, like your overall record or or I don't know, in a ranking system that's putting teams in the playoffs. I don't know. Maybe we should do that, you stupid idiot Greensboro. No, you know what we're gonna do? We're gonna take our only chance to not make the the playoff, and we're gonna put that in the in the in the tiebreaker. We're now seven and five Duke. Yeah. Is if they win, they're not going. No. So not unless James Madison loses. And that might be Miami's best shot. They're tight. No. Is it getting an at-large if if James, if all like if Duke wins the ACC? They have to take five conference champions. They'll take somebody else. Seven and five? They just have to take a higher ranked one.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_01:

So there's Duke's not gonna go.

SPEAKER_02:

There's no extra at-large spot for Miami. That you know, they're they're taking five championships.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, but that's dumb. I'd be upset, but God, Miami. Right. That you and Diaz is of all coaches. Yeah. Is taking them to Charlotte to play Virginia. Lot of goods. I mean, it's easy. You have the highest ranked teams. You got Virginia then playing Miami. That makes more sense. You actually have a you actually say then, well, ACC's getting at least one. And they are getting one, and you don't even question it. Right. But no, no, you're the ACC, and you're dumb as hell. And you're gonna and pretty much give yourself a chance of not making it. You better hope Virginia wins, ACC. I don't think they care. Yeah, obviously. They don't, they don't, they're not a serious conference. Well, uh, Miami pretty much is out. Right, barring a miracle.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, it'll all depend on the rankings tomorrow. If Miami isn't moved up a couple slots, they're they're they're done. There's now a possibility that even Notre Dame could be on the outside looking in. You know, BYU goes and beats Texas Tech. Yeah. Big 12's getting two teams in. So, you know, the ACC continues. Man, it's it if only somebody had tried to warn the rest of the ACC just how unserious this conference was. Well, teams were I remember two teams that that were pretty adamant about it, and then a bunch of brown nosing coming from the other members. Uh yeah. So there you go. But this this is all a result of you know the ACC not changing their tiebreaker scenarios from back when we still had divisions. Back when it was still a 12-team conference. Makes a lot more sense because it would decide who goes from a certain division and not just overall. But they think it's hilarious.

SPEAKER_01:

Just add a bunch of teams. Duke is gonna play in the conference championship. Yeah. They lost to UConn.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. They lost to Yukon, they lost to Tulane. Come on, man.

SPEAKER_01:

What are we doing here? Nothing. Duke. Come on, man. I'm rooting for him. So non-serious. Because this conference sucks, and I hope they don't get any teams. Miami's gotta be f frustrated, but you know what? You should have beat SMU and Louisville. You had the schedule right there. Yeah. And you didn't do it. Now, I again though, you you have common opponents that Miami has played with Notre Dame, and they played them head to head. So now I I I think the argument with that win at Pitt, a place that Notre Dame played, you know, that's a common opponent. Nobody's looking at that. They really I think you have to. Alabama, what if Alabama were to lose the SEC championship game? Do you punish them? I don't think they're going to for qualifying for a game that Miami couldn't.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they they've they've already set the precedent that going to a championship game and losing it is not going to be punishing.

SPEAKER_01:

I agree with that. So I agree with that. That's not that shouldn't, that's gonna create things that you don't want in the sport.

SPEAKER_02:

The SEC teams are locked in. Right. S five are going.

SPEAKER_01:

The three from Big Ten are locked in. What the what the problem Vanderbilt's probably sitting out Vanderbilt's not going anywhere. But they had a big win. Yeah. So they're right there on the edge. So they're they didn't get they didn't play Alabama this year. Yeah, they did. They got beat. And they so Alabama, that's right. Alabama beat them. They got beat by Alabama. They're not going to go over Alabama. No. Oklahoma survived.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Oklahoma goes into Tuscaloosa, wins. Yep. There isn't a more significant conference win outside of Alabama beating Georgia.

SPEAKER_01:

If Georgia loses, they're still going because they beat Alabama the first time. No, they lost to them the first time. Well, they've only lost to Alabama. What happens if Georgia loses then? Doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_02:

They've lost to the SEC title winner, and that's it.

SPEAKER_01:

Right. They still made it. We're not going to hurt them for playing the Shepherd. Right.

SPEAKER_02:

The five SEC teams, the three Big Ten teams.

SPEAKER_01:

You're not going to get hurt for playing in the championship game.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_01:

Especially not for not at the Big Ten or the SEC. Maybe the other game, but not these two.

SPEAKER_02:

No, I mean they even took SMU last year.

SPEAKER_01:

That's true. That's true. And it shouldn't hurt you because it's You got to look at it from the money perspective.

SPEAKER_02:

They're not going to give the impression that the SC that these championship games are not worth playing in.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, the eyeball tests, I can tell you now, I'm glad. Not liking Miami. I'm glad. But they're one of the best 12 teams. And they're one of the only teams I think that has a chance to beat in Ohio State.

SPEAKER_02:

But it's not about best 12 teams.

SPEAKER_01:

But it's not. It's not. And it doesn't matter. Who knows? Nobody knows anything. It's about whatever they want.

SPEAKER_02:

The highest conference champions and then the best at-large teams. Right.

SPEAKER_01:

So are they getting beat out is in the at-large. In their stupid conference, though, they should have won.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. That's what that's what they bank on. If Miami was that good, they'd be able to win the worst conference out of all the power.

SPEAKER_01:

And they wouldn't have this stupid tiebreaker thing. Right. That's the ridiculous. A team that lost two out-of-conference games to Tulane and Yukon is going to their conference championship with a chance to win and be in the playoffs.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Because the ACC is such a chicken shit rag tag operation of a football conference.

SPEAKER_01:

Um the SEC championship will be a rematch. A rematch.

SPEAKER_02:

That's the only one against teams that haven't played in the regular season. You have Ohio State and Indiana.

SPEAKER_01:

Likely going to determine the number one seed. Right. Now, if you're the loser of that game, do you still get a bye? That's a good question.

SPEAKER_02:

Because both teams are undefeated. Right. And that I think that's probably what's going to happen.

SPEAKER_01:

Winner's number one. So it really matters. I mean, you're going to get a bye no matter what. So you want the championship, I guess. You're going to play for that.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_01:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

Now one of the teams getting blown. No, I I just can't see either one of those. But then you would have.

SPEAKER_01:

No, because then if Texas Tech were to win, they would get a bye for sure. And then the SEC team. And then the SEC team's going to get a bye. Then you would have. Yeah, they would get it. Right. Yeah, because they're not going to, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

They're not giving the ACC. No, no.

SPEAKER_01:

So that would go to them, and it should. Alright, so then you would have the five highest matchups and stuff. So then Miami's hope is if they're, you know, that it is all about TV eyeballs.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, Miami's hope is that they're actually even comparing Miami to Notre Dame instead of comparing them to say somebody like Ole Miss or Oklahoma, you know, or Georgia, if Georgia were to lose the SEC title game.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, uh, they want to compare it to Alabama. I mean, they Florida State. Right, but if Alabama beat Florida State, Alabama lost. But if Alabama wins the conference title game, it doesn't matter. They're not an at-large team. Right, exactly. And and the losses, I guess the who you lost to matters. When you lose matters. Yeah, and who. Because because Notre Dame lost early, but they lost to teams. Right. They lost to AM.

SPEAKER_02:

Two teams. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

You know, you got to only have one loss on the year. Right. Last season. And then they lost to Miami.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. Miami lost to two unranked teams.

SPEAKER_01:

You lost to Louisville, and you lost to SMU. And you couldn't beat Cal.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, SMU also lost to two teams that had losing seasons in the Big 12. Like things like that are being taken into account to just diminish the ACC overall.

SPEAKER_01:

And that was that the loss of Cal pissed me out. It was the last of a long parlay that I had. And I was like, oh, this is going to be hit. And then I wake up and see that.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, that that's that's what SMU is, man. They're a team that can be really dangerous. Big twelve. Right. Lose to Wake Force, lose to Baylor, lose to TCU, lose to Cal. But you fuck around and you can lose to them on the road.

SPEAKER_01:

That's why you got to have you got to go if in case of a tie, uh that if it's three teams in the tie or more, you go with Tyler Straight.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. A serious conference would do that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

I mean, unless Duke had beat Miami this year and they had the same record, that's the only way that I would justify that. Yeah. And that didn't happen. So and they're still going with it. It doesn't make any sense.

SPEAKER_02:

Not even just Miami.

SPEAKER_01:

It would be anybody as a as a conference, though. You would want to be like, all right, we can't have a scenario where this would happen. We can't have a six seven and five team playing.

SPEAKER_02:

We're the worst of teams. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

It's going to be a joke. It's going to be embarrassing. People are going to be like, what the hell's Duke doing in there? They're going to look at their schedule, but they lost to Yukon. They lost to Tulane.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So we need to foresee this and put it in the bylaws. But and and I hate Miami. I think it's hilarious. I think it's funny, but it's it's stupid. Well, it's just it's it shows you with an ACC. Miami, get this is what you wanted. This is what you get for pretty much when be mad at Radkovich, man. Well, you should have got on board the FSU Clemson training.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep. Jim.

SPEAKER_01:

Your dumb conference just pretty much took a dump on you.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. And it's going to be like that as long as you're in there. Like you're going to have to work with it.

SPEAKER_01:

There's no legitimate conference that no, and it and it wouldn't be some sort of biased thing. It's just an obvious thing. Yeah. It's like, hey, if there's a tie, we're going to obviously give the highest ranked team the we can't have a scenario where somehow a team that is seven and five is going to keep us from getting eight.

SPEAKER_02:

Nope, nope.

SPEAKER_01:

We're going to combine the losing percentage off of the in-conference schedule.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. No, no. Like I said, this has been the way that the tiebreaker ever since the first round of expansion. So dumb. When they had divisions, because it made sense then.

SPEAKER_01:

You know, it's fucking stupid. It really is. It really is dumb. Well, it's a clown. We'll see how they rank it. Yeah. I mean that again. Do you total miss hurt now? Well, I mean, what's gonna happen to them? For what? For the playoff. Like if you're the committee, are they in no matter what?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. I mean, there's no, you know, great, they lost your coach, so what? We haven't seen what they look like without Lane. Right, and they did only lose one game. Yeah. He lost to Georgia team going to that. Like they're 11 and 1.

SPEAKER_01:

Like I get. What about there's a no players or no big players for them or leaving?

SPEAKER_02:

Nobody's leaving. The players the players the players were going to not play in the game if Lane Kiffin was allowed to coach.

SPEAKER_03:

You know, so what what do you do there?

SPEAKER_02:

Don't do anything. And they're going, you know, Pete Golding is gonna be coaching old missing the playoffs. Yeah. It was interesting to see if they get a home game.

SPEAKER_01:

They may get docked a little bit for that, but Well, I mean, it's a it there's people that are gonna be out, they should take that into effect. It's the whole thing's bogus. The whole thing's bogus, and like they left Florida State out for not having quarterback, even though they're undefeated and won a conference. Right. Well, that was with four teams. Yeah, I know, I know, I know, I know. Alright, well, uh, yeah, so um we got college, and then we'll move on to the NFL. What else you got? I got nothing. We'll have the NFL and uh concludes tonight. You have the Giants without Jameis, who cares? Playing the uh Patriots, who were in first place, uh, and the Broncos won, so they'll have to win to stay ahead of them. Uh, you know, the Jags are doing pretty well. And they have some really good wins, too. They're beaten the Niners, they're beaten the Chiefs. Yeah. You know. I'm gonna tell you who's tell you right now, and then the Colts lose. The Jags now are in the lead of that division and in the three-seed. You better watch out for the fight in Pete Pablo's, bro. Panthers football. The Panthers with a big win, they beat the Rams, and there's that Jekyll and Hyde team, man, that goes on the road and beats the Packers, beats the Falcons 30 to nothing. Right. Beats the Rams, but then can lay an egg and lose to anybody. Yeah. Yeah. But right now, the Jags are the three seed. They're eight and four.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And that's with the with a really bad loss to the Texans. And the Texans went out and beat the uh Colts. Colts now are eight and four. Texans are seven and five, so that's gonna come down to the end.

SPEAKER_02:

Tell you what, the Colts are looking less dominant by the weeks.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Yep. The Bills uh beat the Steelers. I think that's it for the Steelers. Yeah, six and six. Aaron Rodgers broke in a hand. Looks old, man. Chiefs are six and six. Still alive, but it's still alive. You would I mean you would give them a fighting chance just because they have you know 15 and big red. Right. You know? So but the the Chargers with an ugly win, eight and four. They're they're in the wild card, the Colts are in the wild card, and the Bills are in the wild card, all eight and four, and then seven and five Texans are your first team out, followed by the Steelers and Chiefs. The Dolphins are still alive, five and seven. You know who else is still alive? Who's that? The Bengals? That's right. That's four and eight. Four and eight.

SPEAKER_02:

They're only two games back from the state.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, their best is with the division. Yeah. And then the Ravens, Lamar's hasn't been playing well at all. You know, he just hasn't looked the same, Lamar. Over in the NFC, you have the Chicago Bears. Dennis Farinas with the big Black Friday win. They go on, they go into Philly, handle the Eagles 24-15.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

On the road.

SPEAKER_02:

They ran all over that ass.

SPEAKER_01:

That's what I said. I mean, this team has an identity and they run the ball.

SPEAKER_02:

Right. That's and that's one of the best defensive lines in football. That they just manhandled.

SPEAKER_01:

The Bears with the Panthers beating the Rams are now in the one seed in the NFC.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

How about that? Huh? Welcome to that potty. Right. He's got to be your uh coach of the year. Oh yeah. I mean, they're doing it.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

They're just winning games. Close ones. And now they're beating good teams. Right. You say it was slow. The people were like, well, who have they beaten? And who well they've beaten the Rams.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, they didn't play the Rams. They beat the Eagles. They beat the Bucs. Beat the Bucs. They beat the Eagles. Now we'll find out next week as they go to Lambeau. Right. And the Packers are coming in off the big win over Detroit on Thanksgiving. So this is going to be a huge game. Biggest game next week is the first time.

SPEAKER_02:

They still got to play the Packers twice.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, yeah. So and then the Packers have the tie. So right now there's a half game lead on the Packers. Yeah. So this is this is that's going to be everything. It's going to be huge. The Bucks, they they they figure out a way to win. They beat the Cardinals. They're now seven and five. They should be able to handle that. I mean, but the the Panthers are seven and six. So they're going to that's going to come down to those games.

SPEAKER_02:

Yep.

SPEAKER_01:

So those will be fun to watch. The Cowboys now six and five. Yeah, the Cowboys aren't dead either. No, and yes, and they're playing the Lions this Thursday. And the Lions now seven and five. That's an elimination game right there.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Losers out. Because right now the win both those teams are out. So you're just hoping that somebody falters ahead of you. Right now, the Niners are in that last seed at 9-4. Packers in the six at 8-3-1. Seahawks pretty much at 9-3. And they're going to Seahawks and Rams are going to get in.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Um that that Seattle NFC South's going to get Seattle one team. It's going to be pretty huge for both of those teams for different reasons.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, you just have to keep winning to get that to stay in the hunt because you have I mean if you're Seattle, you're going to be able to get the Cowboys, Panthers, and Lions right there.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. And if you're Seattle, you you still have an open shot at at the top season.

SPEAKER_01:

In the NFC if you keep winning. Right. Which would be big. Home field still up for grabs. Yeah. And 49ers at the Packers, the Rams now can get it right back if it with a win. Yeah. But a big win for Bryce Young. Yeah. Efficient.

SPEAKER_02:

Go ahead, drive the game winning touchdown drive. They only threw it twice.

SPEAKER_01:

Broncos figure out a way to win. Man.

SPEAKER_02:

It was it was wide open too. Two-point conversion. It was wide open. He didn't get that hand up perfect timing. That's Washington winning that game, by the way. I like to call it. Yeah. That's another one of those games where they win with Bo Knicks looking pretty unimpressive for about three and a half quarters of it. Well, and when it matters. Right. They get the ball, they go right down the field and score a touchdown.

SPEAKER_01:

He might be a coach of the year too, though. Peyton, yeah, he's doing a really good job. And you got Vrabel. Vrabel's doing a great job too, because nobody expected that. And and and the Bears coach, which is uh what's his face? Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson, yeah. Ben Johnson. Big old Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson, those are your three leaders. And you can't go wrong with either of them, honestly. Honestly, I think Vrabel's got it right now. Yeah. Just based on like they're the damn one seed. If they win tonight, they're the one seed. And and it's now well, so are the bears. You can't go wrong either way. It'll be decided in the closing weeks. What's that?

SPEAKER_00:

Huh?

SPEAKER_03:

Shh, I don't think.

SPEAKER_01:

You gotta get on out of here. Before we go. Hoops, man. We got a big loss down there. That was just a it was coming. Yeah, take it. Yeah. Yeah, take him. Yeah, take him. Move on. Hey, you get a chance to redeem yourself tomorrow night. Tomorrow night against the team in that same conference. Mike White. Against the Georgia Bulldogs as they come here to the Tuck. So get on out there and yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Lennon Hamilton's little bitch boy, Mike White.

SPEAKER_01:

Man. So hopefully you keep that streak alive, Luke. Yeah. Otherwise, you'll never hear the end of it. Right. Coach. Yeah, man, baby. Yo, baby, my why now?

SPEAKER_02:

I asked to bring you back here, but yeah, they got killed, man.

SPEAKER_01:

It was like 40 points.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Yeah. Made me happy that Texas beat ADM that job. Fucking haggis. Yeah, but you know what?

SPEAKER_01:

FSU football. Right. Good God. Hard to even get excited about signing days coming up.

SPEAKER_02:

We can't wait to see what three stars we bring into the fold. Fail to develop and then scoot on out of here after the year's over.

SPEAKER_01:

So what's the day to look forward to? The transfer portal day, I guess. There's no day to look forward to. The day he's fired. Right. He's finally fired.

SPEAKER_02:

We've already reached the day to look forward to the end of the season. Oh man. Sucks. Well, I'm there's. I'm sure there's a center for at-risk risk. At-risk teenagers that he'd be great at running. But football? No. Maybe he'll take the Memphis job. Oh, please. One could only hope. But no.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, we got uh the playoffs are gonna be interesting to watch how that all unfolds. With the Bears and the Packers and the Seahawks and the Rams. Yeah. We'll see. See which one of those young teams out of the Broncos and the Pats is gonna hold on and get that one seed.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I just hope it's somebody different than Philadelphia and Kansas City.

SPEAKER_01:

Kansas City's not an outside shot to even get a shot to play for it. Right. They don't even look and it looks like the teams have been changing the guard. Well, we got a lot to watch, a lot to react to. We got picks coming up this week, and we'll talk to you next time, right here on the North Florida Sports Network.

SPEAKER_03:

You understand that? You gotta give us a shot. You know what you
