SPEAKER_04:Let me ask you one question.
SPEAKER_00:The North Florida support North Florida support North Florida the North Florida support is the you gotta give us a shot, you know what you the North Florida supporting.
SPEAKER_01:On a Tuesday. Indiana is your national champion. How about that? Thank God. Yeah, man. Miami turning it on in the second half. But balls and Kurt Netty to go for take that time out and go for it. The quarterback draw with the difference. And the block on touchdown. Yeah, I mean, middle mistake for the pick by back at the end, but Miami played hard. And yeah, they're the only one who wanted.
SPEAKER_02:anybody, only team in the playoffs that did even hang with it at the end.
SPEAKER_01:I think uh oh the coach knew it. That's why he took that time out. And he was like, you know what, we gotta go for this tour. Because if we can take a field goal, they're gonna go right down and take the lead. Yeah. Yeah. And that was that was the ballgame. That was the championship moment. That's the one that they'll remember. The statue. I mean, 16-0. First national championship. I mean, it's epic if you're an Indiana fan. I had a few that I've seen at work. Very proud. It's just crazy that in football they're the champ. Right. Well, the losingest team of all time.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:It's just you just uh You get the right coach with uh, you know, that with some it's all about timing, man.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Portal became a thing.
SPEAKER_01:Yep.
SPEAKER_02:Billionaire backing became a thing. Yep. Finding the right guys.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:That bought that bought into the culture. I mean Stignet is is elite when it comes to identifying what he wants. Yep. Certain traits and players.
SPEAKER_01:The experience that he that he had. Check's high school attendance record, right? Just the experience and you know, he got all the wiggles out at Division II and and the power, you know, the other James Madison, so he's already experienced and knows what he wants.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And he went in there running, like, I know what I'm about to do.
SPEAKER_02:Right, and and credit to Indiana for actually, like, you know, not giving him any resistance. Finally.
SPEAKER_01:Well, they came in there and told him, like, look, goddammit, this is how we're gonna do it. And if anything, they're gonna only give them more now.
SPEAKER_02:Right. It paid off.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I don't see any of the I see the way those two programs looked and the way they're supported. I don't see either of them going anywhere.
SPEAKER_02:No. The the gap will only get wider between the teams that have Miami, Miami's not going anywhere. Right, they're not going anywhere. Indiana's not going anywhere.
SPEAKER_01:They looked physical. That defense was a problem. You know, it it was a problem for Indiana, and they they fought through it. They just they just catch the ball when they have to. You know, they just a really great story. 16-0, Indiana. And and you think, I mean, yes, they do have the billionaire backings, but the re you know, your boys' recruiting rankings, I'd like to see how they averaged out.
SPEAKER_02:Right. Well, I mean, the high school the prep school is is this was a different type of championship championship.
SPEAKER_01:This was a transfer portal championship.
SPEAKER_02:Right. This Indiana is a team made up of guys that coached at James Madison or guys from the Midwest. Yeah, sprinkling a few from Florida. You know, there's a with a Heisman with the right quarterback at the right time.
SPEAKER_01:Right.
SPEAKER_02:I think every guy he's got out of the state of Florida on that team, and he's he has a few, you know, Mendoza, the kid that made the interception to end the game, uh, Amari Farrell, a kid out of Lake City. They're all kids that are just three stars, you know, overlooked. But guys that that you know fit what he wanted to do. But it, you know, they they impressed, I did not think they would be able to do anything on offense.
SPEAKER_01:I know you thought Miami was gonna win. Well, I thought their defense would just be too much for him. It it it looked like that in the second half, and they were but the toughness of Indiana to be able to shut Miami down the whole first half. Yep. And that it was a huge miss field goal. Yeah. And you could see right there just being the Mario Crystal ball settling, you know, the fact that he let the clock go down and he's like, oh, we're just gonna kick a field goal, and then he missed it. Right. That's and then at the end, you know, like in a situation where you're already up by three and it's fourth and five. If there if the role's reversed, Miami's kicking that field goal ten out of ten times.
SPEAKER_02:I think so too.
SPEAKER_01:But and and that's just but Signetti knew the momentum had shifted. Miami was making plays. They had 300 plus yards in the second half.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So I thought he he called a timeout there, and I he made the this is it.
SPEAKER_02:We may not get back down here for this.
SPEAKER_01:We got to get the touchdown by two possessions.
SPEAKER_02:Miami and and Christopher towards the end of the season, they did tend to get a lot more aggressive on offense. So I mean But you know that's what he does.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, that's no that's not a bad thing, you know. It a lot of times you want that. Yeah. Honestly. And I think I mean it just means you have a he has confidence in his defense. Right. And he should.
SPEAKER_02:Right.
SPEAKER_01:Confidence in that offensive line. But I I just that like there was they were gonna kick it, and then he called a timeout, and he that was a ballsy decision. That's why you get the credit that he gets. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:And well, and and also just the story of their entire season is how clean they play in terms of mental mistakes. Like the biggest mental mistake they had was probably the false start at the end of the game when it was second and one, backed him up to second and six, gave Miami an opportunity to hold him to a field goal.
SPEAKER_01:Well, did they even make any mistakes?
SPEAKER_02:Right. And that that was the difference.
SPEAKER_01:They had a guy drop a ball, and I was like, Yeah, oh my god.
SPEAKER_02:Right. You know, like a false start on second and one. I mean, that that's like, and you saw Signet, he's like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_01:The execution was there.
SPEAKER_02:Right. He knew that that right there is gonna keep us from ending the game now. We're gonna have to kick a field goal. Miami's gonna get the ball back.
SPEAKER_01:Um, Miami outgained them, but they were shut down in the first half. They ended up with 342 yards to 317 to Indiana. Yeah. Um, but Indiana was balanced.
SPEAKER_02:They won the turnover battle.
SPEAKER_01:Yep. They had 20 first downs, too. Yeah. That's that first that drive in the first half, they were just like 15 plays. Yeah, and that's they went right down the field. They it was 10 to nothing, but they'd kept Miami off the field.
SPEAKER_02:The drive of the fourth down conversion, that was another one where they just chipped away. You know, two two huge third down completions. That Becker kid for Indiana is is clutch. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Time of possession, Indiana was 35 and a half to 24 and a half. But the interception at the end, that was the only turnover of the game.
SPEAKER_02:Well, the block punt.
SPEAKER_01:And the block. Oh, yeah, special teams. Yeah. That was huge.
SPEAKER_02:Right.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, that right there, and then the fourth down.
SPEAKER_02:And that like that's as much a mental mistake by the guy. Oh, that was terrible execution.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. The guy just let him go in. Right. You have three guys. I mean, you always wonder, you know, like, all right, why are they why are they back there? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:If they're not gonna be able to do it, and you know your punter is rolling to your side. Like, how are you letting anybody buy you?
SPEAKER_01:Little stuff like that. Yeah, and that was so huge. And that's so huge.
SPEAKER_02:That's how you go 16 and 0. Yeah, it's by avoiding shit like that week in, week out.
SPEAKER_01:Right.
SPEAKER_02:And that that's where Signetti deserves the credit, man. Is is right putting it. I'm glad they won.
SPEAKER_01:I know I Miami is not going anywhere.
SPEAKER_02:No, they'll be back in the past.
SPEAKER_01:They're gonna be the favorites in the ACC.
SPEAKER_02:Well, they're getting Mensah, so they'll probably end up actually winning the ACC next year. I don't know. We'll see. We'll see. I mean, they won't have this stupid tiebreaker thing anymore that keeps them out. They gotta go to Notre Dame, right? Yeah, but that's not a conference game.
SPEAKER_01:I know. But that like if they didn't have that win this year, they wouldn't have gone. Yeah, that's true. That's true. It could be I mean, those kind of games are gonna give you leeway for conference losses.
SPEAKER_02:Right. It's gonna be another big game. Um, they're not gonna get any help out of playing Florida State, so they'll have to somebody in the ACC will have to be something formidable for them to get any credit for winning conference games. I don't know who it's gonna be.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Well, it was a good game. Um it was hard fought. Miami was almost there. Yeah. And but Indiana deserves it. They are your worthy champion. Um tough loss if you're a Miami fan, but I'm glad they didn't win. They got plenty of titles to go home with.
SPEAKER_02:Right. For a for Florida State fans, for us, it would have been just a nice little cherry on top to a shit season.
SPEAKER_01:But still, but I mean, you know, I still think people looking at that, I don't think it's a loss. I think it's it the they didn't they l even though they lost, they're they're back in terms of Well, yeah, they're they're clearly the only team that's gonna be. They have money, yeah. So they're gonna be able to Mario Cristobal has always been able to recruit. And so even before this, now they have the financial backing. So he's right, he's good at that. So they're not going anywhere. No. I mean, they just went in and stole Duke's entire team. Yeah. Yeah. Alright, so Indiana's your national champion. And we have four left in the playoffs, man. And uh Buffalo. Oof. Josh loss.
SPEAKER_02:Got your coach fired, buddy.
SPEAKER_01:Bo Nicks breaks his ankle, so it's gonna be Jared Stidham. But man, back in the division game, 33-30. Just careless turnovers by Josh Allen are the difference. I mean, that that fumble and before half was that that is like just it's uncalled for. I mean, you miss throws, I guess, because he missed one that would have won the game. Right. You miss throws, you throw picks sometimes, they get tipped. Right. You get it. You're off sometimes. You're tired, you know, you whatever. But just having the ball out there so freely and just drop it on the ground right there when just get into the half, man.
SPEAKER_02:What the hell do you think you're doing anyway? You have no timeouts. That was huge. And they lost 30 yards a lot.
SPEAKER_01:Lost in the game. They they should have won that game.
SPEAKER_02:And honestly, man, they're they're kind of treating Josh Allen with kid gloves on that whole thing. You know, there's some no, there's some other quarterbacks in the league that would still be getting shit.
SPEAKER_01:He blew it. And he blew it. With as much, as good as he is, as much credit as he gets, he's got, I mean, I'm sure he'll be the first to tell you. That's on him.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, you look at his turnover history.
SPEAKER_01:Yep. It's not not substantial. But they uh Denver's going to they're gonna host the AFC Championship with the backup quarterback. Right. Um, they're gonna be playing New England, who was able to hold off capitalize on the worst quarterback play I've ever seen in my life. Five fumbles and five picks.
SPEAKER_02:I mean, it's it's it's like that whole right, that whole debate about you know, you can't bench CJ Stroud and like why why not with that defense? Right. Like why? Like, oh, that means then he's done in Houston. Who cares?
SPEAKER_01:So what?
SPEAKER_02:This is the playoffs, man. Like yeah, but there's someone is he still in a rookie deal?
SPEAKER_01:I then get off. This is what you should get off of it. This is exactly why like he's showing you who he is. Yeah, and this is why the rookie deals you gotta take advantage of it. You you don't pay him.
SPEAKER_02:No, I'm not paying him. No. And if I'm D'Amico Ryan's I'll I'll go into my GM and be like, dude, we gotta get a new quarterback.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, just go get another one. Right. You draft another one, or you can find a you can find somebody, a veteran, yeah, who's not gonna do that. Find you a Sam Darnold. Yeah. Like that's what we're like literally Seattle, like everything. Yeah. And they had him, they should have, I think they should have made, they should have never gone back to him. Should have just kept rolling.
SPEAKER_02:Right. Well, I'm saying, like, on interception number three before he even gets to four.
SPEAKER_01:Take him out. Take him out. Yeah, take him out. Dude, you're not uh you I knew it right away. I was like, you gotta bench him. Yeah, and you can see it on his face.
SPEAKER_02:You could see it on his face.
SPEAKER_01:So New England moves on, and I told you that they their defense would score a touchdown. You knew they would. With the combination of him going in there, right? It's just ugh. So uh New England's gonna be a heavy favorite uh because of the quarterback injury in the NFC. The Rams were able to outlast the the Bears in an epic game. Dude, that that fourth down throw by Caleb Williams was incredible. That's why that's why you go there, that's why he's the number one pick because he has those those type of abilities. You know, and he's and he's frustrating because you saw in overtime the pick, he turns the ball over.
SPEAKER_02:Well, I mean, you know, yeah. But that's on the receiver. Receiver quit, man. Yeah. And that's like if you're if you're I'd be happy if I was if I was a GM. If you're the coach, if you're Ben Johnson, if you're GM, he's like, all right, well, DJ Moore, you're fucking out of here.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. You know, like I I'd be I think they're on the right path. This is the play. The defense for Chicago played great. Yeah. They kept they were they were putting pressure on on uh in the and but what the Rams didn't do is they didn't fuck it up though. Yeah. They didn't they they punted. Yeah, they punted. And they didn't turn it over. They didn't they didn't try to force it. They yeah, and they were able to clutch when it mattered. And uh big interception there at the end to get the ball, and then the drive by Stafford when he needed it. That's it, that's the guy you want. Yeah, and that's why I even know Seattle who blasted the Niners 41 to 6 the other game.
SPEAKER_02:It's not you know what's like you could have switched quarterbacks 41 to six, you could have put it. You could have put Brock Purdy on Seattle, Sam Darnold on San Francisco. That was good, it didn't matter. And it's the same outcome. Right. That was just That's what I'm talking about. Like the Seattle is not good because of Sam Darnold. They just got a guy that's serviceable and built a juggernaut of a team around it.
SPEAKER_01:The opening kickoff, it was just a it was one of those games. Right. But I don't think I think this um if you remember the game in Seattle between the Rams. I mean, Seattle won, but man, it was Yeah, it was back and forth. No, I took some lucky plays. Right. Two-point conversion that was like should have never happened, and then like but Los Angeles plays them well. I think it's gonna be Well, Los Angeles is a better team.
SPEAKER_02:San Francisco like dude, they limped into the playoffs. I like I don't know. Their run to get where they were was just unheard of.
SPEAKER_01:Los Angeles defense, the defense for the Rams is gonna give Seattle way more problems. Yeah, I mean, they got than San Francisco. Yeah. I mean, you there so what's the difference there? I trust I trust Stafford more than I trust Arnold.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. But and I mean it it again, familiarity.
SPEAKER_01:Familiarity. And the AFC uh it's sticks. Um I think Sean Payton's like grinning though. Yeah. So you're like, this is only gonna help. Like if you're if you're the coach, it's like what this is. Playing with house money. Well, dude, if you go ahead and win two games, you're gonna go down legendary. Right. That's another Bill Parcell's type thing. We're just doing with Jeff Ostettler. I was just gonna say if they win this, I don't I don't I wouldn't be surprised. Bo Nicks is playing in the Super Bowl. No, he's not.
SPEAKER_02:I dude. No, he's not. No, he's it's a hairline fracture. Oh, it's not some compound fracture of his ankle.
SPEAKER_01:Bo Nicks wouldn't would want to because it's a pain tolerance thing. You don't want to be uh the guy for Philly versus Wentz. Right. You don't get injured and then Big Dick Nick comes in and wins the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_02:He's got three weeks to stay off that ankle and and just pain tolerance.
SPEAKER_01:Well, I'm telling you right now, Sean Payton, if he wins with Jared Stidham, he's gonna play Jared Stidham because he's gonna want that. We'll see. He's gonna want that. We'll see. I don't think they're gonna win. They're not gonna win. New England hasn't lost on the road all year. Uh they're a good road team. And they have the quarterback, they have the receivers, they got they got the playing Stidum, man. Like Yeah, they got they're gonna be able to turn him over. Yeah. Patriots and Seahawks, alright! I got Rams, Patriots. That's what I'm gonna I'm still sticking with my Rams. Either way, it's gonna be a rematch of something. Yeah. Oh, wait a second. Was it Sean McDermott? Sean McDermott.
SPEAKER_03:You're fired!
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, fired.
SPEAKER_02:Shit canned. Yeah. Out of here. Got a couple hires. Robert bigballed Bob to Tennessee. They went defense. Yeah, and uh Jeff Halfley to Miami. I cannot believe that.
SPEAKER_01:In a couple years, Jeff Halfley.
SPEAKER_02:So they took they took him, they took the assistant GM from Green Bay. Are they gonna take Malik Willis? The quarterback? Packers of the South?
SPEAKER_01:Oh boy. All right. Well anybody else get fired? No, I don't think so. Davidson fancy got the job in Atlanta.
SPEAKER_02:Mike McCarthy has emerged as a hot name for Pittsburgh.
SPEAKER_01:Oh boy. Uh John Harbaugh the Giants.
SPEAKER_02:More to come. More to come. More to come.
SPEAKER_03:We had to go.
SPEAKER_01:Here we gotta Well gotta get on out of here, but before we go.
SPEAKER_02:Knowles!
SPEAKER_03:Hey!
SPEAKER_02:Couldn't pull it out, man. One point loss at home to wait for us. Still winless in the ACC. Yeah. On the road tonight against Miami. Gonna continue to be winless. Gotta keep grinding.
SPEAKER_01:Never know. Yeah. Never know. I mean, you knew you were gonna lose. Just keep just keep playing hard. Maybe you would make some threes and beat Miami.
SPEAKER_02:Well, you ain't gonna win tonight, but I mean, you know, maybe beat beat somebody bad. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Just want those recruits to stay. Please.
SPEAKER_02:I mean, you need about 10 of them. You know, yeah. Yeah. Four. Maybe do some work in the portal. In the portal? Portal's over. It's closed.
SPEAKER_01:I'm talking about basketball. How do you feel about FSU football?
SPEAKER_02:It's not worth paying attention to. You know, like we got a great group of guys to go three and nine next year. It suck. That's how I feel about it.
SPEAKER_04:Go to the next coach! Right. Hey.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Go to the next coach. Baseball starting up in five weeks. Oh. Alright. Pitchers and catchers. Pitchers and catchers and five tool players. Florida State ranked anywhere from number nine to number twelve in preseason. So there you go.
SPEAKER_01:Yep. It's always it's you know you only got like what three games left in football. Yeah. That's it. I like Championship Sunday better than Super Bowl Sunday. This past weekend was the best. Yeah. But uh, in terms of one day, this next Sunday is the best. We got two championship games. Looking forward to the NFC Championship, which will be the later game. Good. We'll watch them. We'll pick them. And we'll talk to you next time. Right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
SPEAKER_04:You understand that? You gotta give us a shot! You know what?
