Schedule Shock: Can FSU Avoid 2–10?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Let me ask you one question the north floor is bull north floor to the border floor to the north floor.
SPEAKER_03:You gotta give us a shot, you know what you're doing, the north floor is born next bowl networks Hey, we're back again the network. We got no games to play. We got schedules. Alright! We're gonna go over FSU's upcoming 2026 schedule. Do you feel the excitement? Maybe a little just just for fun, see what our record will be? Sure. Sure. Maybe we'll go over some other schedules. And the week before the Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_02:Check in on hoop. Uh oh! Don't let 'em get hot! They won't. Yeah. Senior bowl. Next week. Or the week after. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah. Maybe it's this week. I don't know. Top five movie games? Saturday. It's going on right now.
SPEAKER_02:That's next week during the Super Bowl. Yeah, it's it's yeah, still on Wednesday.
SPEAKER_03:So we're just gonna go over this together. What do you think about it? As we still, I guess, care about this team here in North Florida. That's right. Well. It starts with a week zero. What do you think about that?
SPEAKER_04:Well, I think it's good to go ahead and get a nice win on the schedule. Probably be the only FBS team we beat. New Mexico State.
SPEAKER_03:I like it. And then you're um it's SMU here on a Monday. Labor Day. Labor Day night.
SPEAKER_04:No labor through watching that one.
SPEAKER_03:The first of many non-Saturday games for the Knowles on the schedule. Right. 30% of the schedule is not on a Saturday. It's crazy. But then you have SMU that's in Tallahassee, and then you have We'll get to the other ones in time.
SPEAKER_04:Go chronologically down the list.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, Alabama. Right. You got a bye week in between. Yeah, bye week. That's your bye. So after you lose to SMU. Right. You're sitting at one and one. You're about to go lose to Alabama. You're about to go to Tuscaloosa and get beat up. And then you come back and you play Central Arkansas. Fighting Mike Norvells.
SPEAKER_04:Playing this asshole's alum. And then you get Virginia here. Yeah. That will be right there the point at which 80% of the team will pack it in for the season.
SPEAKER_03:And then it's on the road with a Friday night game in Louisville for a week. So that's where they just start screwing you. Yeah, yeah, it's hard to see that uh man. Then you got my and then you go down to play Miami and then another bye before you bring you host Clemson. So so with that bye, I got it.
SPEAKER_04:This is my hypothetical is that you're sitting at 0-4 in the conference, two and five on the year, with the bye week and Clemson coming to town.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. I think and I'm gonna say this if you are two and five, winless in conference.
SPEAKER_03:Oh yeah, he's gone. He might be gone. I think he might be gone before that.
SPEAKER_04:But if they don't fire him in that bye week and he is the coach when Clemson comes to town, I don't think they're gonna fire him.
SPEAKER_03:Just to save money?
SPEAKER_04:I mean what the what's the point? You know, you're not you're not waiting a couple more weeks. There's a great opportunity to just go ahead and shit can him and let the bye week go through with the the interim coach so he can you know sort of ease into that and then come out and get beat by Clemson. But yeah, I think that's gotta be when it's done. If if you're sitting at two of five. If you got a win in the ACC or you pull something out of your ass, like go and win in Tuscaloosa, then all bets are off.
SPEAKER_03:Great. That's the most passion you'll see all year is Jimmy trying to plan out when they'll fire Norville.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, that's my focus.
SPEAKER_03:I think that's the best time to do it. Yeah, well, then you go to at Boston College, and then it's another short week on the road at Pitt on a Friday night. Yeah. And then you host NC State and then short week Florida.
SPEAKER_04:Right, yeah, you got banged on the schedule.
SPEAKER_03:I mean, honestly, this is pretty tough. Yeah, if you don't see a lot of wins. If you were a good team, this would be I don't see a lot of wins. No. I mean, literally, you could lose one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten games. Yeah. Easy. Two and ten's right there. Yeah, it is. It's staring you right in the face.
SPEAKER_04:Right. I mean, what game do you feel good like Boston College is not a good team, but you're going on the road.
SPEAKER_03:Right. After you just played Clemson. Then you got a short week going to Pittsburgh. Your best bet might be that first game, just to, you know. Is that you saw how they did last year? Right. Just come out before, you know. Right. If you can consult somehow script and stuff before anybody gets any tape, and then surprise some people maybe win against SMU.
SPEAKER_04:Well, Jennings is back for SMU, but they did lose a lot of production. A lot of those guys he took from Miami, some of the other guys in the transfer portal are all gone. So you're gonna have to see his recruiting and see if if Lashley is for real or if he just kind of. And again, like SMU wasn't great.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:Was but that that's right there, right off the bat, man. Like, if you lose that game and you're you're owing one in conference.
SPEAKER_03:I mean, who who knows? There's so many train so many turnovers every year. Every every season is a new team. And like there's only what five teams that are dealing big boy five five to ten teams per year that are gonna just pony it up and make that average keep going up and up. I mean, maybe about five or six every year that are always gonna be there. So like there's never gonna be any deal. They gotta come to a salary cap, man. Oh, yeah. It's it's it's just going further and further away from any kind of possible this isn't major league baseball, man.
SPEAKER_04:Right. You you remember two years ago, or June or July of 2022, and Ryan Day made headlines because he went in front of his booster group and told them they needed$13 million for their roster. And that was yeah.
SPEAKER_03:That's n that's like for two positions now.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah.$13 million, dude. The kid at kid at Miami that just left Duke's getting overall probably about a package worth about$10 million. When you factor in the housing, the you know, deal that his sisters get all of that shit. You know, the roster. Rumors 30 to 40 million for the teams that were in the playoffs last year. I mean, that and that's in two years.
SPEAKER_03:Oh yeah. This is big time professional football now.
SPEAKER_04:Right. This is blowing professional football out of the water. This is approaching major league baseball type numbers.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Well, then there's no cap, there's no, so it's almost like whatever you can give them. Yeah. Like the housing, that's a they hate coming out.
SPEAKER_04:Right, housing, you know, your sister, your sister's a soccer player. Hey, oh, our soccer team sucks. We can we can give her a guaranteed spot with NIL. You know, like it Florida State spent something like 800 grand on their quarterback. Yeah, you're not kid's sisters not coming here to play soccer. You know, this is a championship team.
SPEAKER_03:So still like 800 grand for this kid from Auburn.
SPEAKER_04:I was talking about Casalanos. I don't know if they spent that for this kid. Okay. Because they took three or four quarterbacks. I think they probably you know, they may have spent that total for the three they brought in.
SPEAKER_03:Crazy. Just the money.
SPEAKER_04:Right. And like well, the big money was spent on keeping the five or six players at Florida.
SPEAKER_03:It's not that you're paying for like nothing. There's no commitment.
unknown:No.
SPEAKER_03:You can just do it again next year.
SPEAKER_04:Right. Nothing's keeping them here. Team like team with billions of dollars can come in at the last minute and just take your guy. You look at what Dabo's bitching about right now, about how they they old miss came in and took their linebacker while he was in class. You know? Oh, we're turning them in. Turn them in for tampering. Good luck with that, man. Let us know how that goes, Dabbo. He's got he's out there in his press conference reading the the timeline of events. He's detective dabbo, you know. He just it's like, well, good. Who are you gonna cry to, man? Who's gonna do anything about that? There is no enforcement arm in any of this.
SPEAKER_03:Right. I was gonna say, cry to the same person. Well, you need to go ahead and do a salary cab and have rules. Right. Well, if you fact that he's crying about it.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Right. Well, and my whole take on that is he's pissed that he had to go in the the transfer portal and pay a kid to come play linebacker anyway. And then it wasn't enough. His offer wasn't enough. And then when he approached Pete Golding personally, his warning got laughed at. Like, dude, I don't okay, Dabbo, turn me in. To who? Who's gonna do shit? Nobody. He laughed at him. Yeah. Like, dude, they no. The day after he says, you know what, we we know what you're doing, Pete. And if you don't stop, we're gonna turn you in. Pete texts the kid the next morning, doubles the offer. Oh yeah, not only am I not gonna stop or back off, I'm gonna double the offer, and then the kid's gonna come and and enroll at old miss. So there you go. Now you got Dion out in Colorado instituting player fines now. Oh yeah. Which are completely unenforceable because there's nothing in any of the contracts that they sign that's that says they're subject to being fined. And I know that because you can't do that unless they are employees. And that's what these schools are trying to avoid at all costs is making these kids employees. So good luck with that.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:It's all just a bunch of shit. But yeah, I look at it about two in ten, man. Definitely possible.
SPEAKER_03:Whoopity do. Whoopity do I still feel bad for Xavier Smith. Yeah, it sucked. That was a tough one.
SPEAKER_04:What's your first take on this Super Bowl? First take is I'll probably sleep through it. I don't really care. Um, I don't like Seattle because they're in the West. But I also don't like the Patriots because of every reason that everybody doesn't like the Patriots.
SPEAKER_03:Right. I don't know who to root for. Like part of me, I like Variable, Drake May. I don't, you know, there's nothing he didn't do anything wrong. Right. There, you know, it's a different team. Yeah. I don't hate them as much as the last team. Because of, you know, just how the whole thing happened with the tuck rule and then the cheating and just a perfect storm of bullshit. It's like with the spy gate should have never happened because the Raiders should have won the game.
SPEAKER_04:I'll be interested because of the the schedule that the Patriots played.
SPEAKER_03:Right.
SPEAKER_04:You look at how many teams they played that ended up firing their coach. I think it was something like 13 of the 17 games that they played.
SPEAKER_03:Right, but still, I mean four and a half, that's too much. I would I'm probably gonna take the points. It's this team's good though, and they're gonna figure it out. Like they game to game. That's why a guy like Vrabel, you know, he's just so valuable. Let's muck it up. Yeah, I would I wouldn't be. Oh yeah. I mean if anybody's gonna boat race, it's gonna be Seattle. If if in Jigba can get free.
SPEAKER_04:I can see this shit being just like the Rams Patriots, just an ugly game, like 13-3 type, just trash. And that's probably how the Patriots won't be.
SPEAKER_03:The Patriots offense hasn't really looked good at all. But their defense has been really good. Yeah. So I I think you're right. I think this is gonna be an ugly game. You get two teams to two weeks prepare. I don't think e either offense is gonna do much. No, and uh Seattle does have those Rashid, man, that guy.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, and and speed. You know, Darnold is a bit different than uh CJ Stroud and Jarrett Stidham.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. So I mean he can sling it. Yeah. And they got the weapons. They got Jackson Smith and Jigba, who's the best receiver in the game. Right. So that's the difference. I mean, is to just have that's the those guys, that Rashid pickup changed this team. Made them or took them over the top because they're not beating No, they're not beating the Rams, right? Rams that that took them, they gave them the extra explosive factor. You know, the speed on offense, the speed on special teams, that just another way to score changes the way they can call a game. Yeah. It it really was a huge pickup. And uh I I but I think I'm gonna go New England. You're right, the New England, everybody's the same you had a blizzard before. Yeah. Second year quarterback. I mean, a lot of similarities.
SPEAKER_04:You know, Stroud played one of the worst games I've ever seen from a QB in the playoffs. But that's been their whole season. You know, it's they're at this point one more game.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I could see this going like 17-13, 16-13 kind of game.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah, and I'll definitely be asleep if that's the case. I don't give a shit enough about it to watch a defensive battle. Trying to see explosives.
SPEAKER_03:Basketball. Florida State got another win.
SPEAKER_04:Oh, first home win of the season in conference, baby.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:Tried to lose it.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Yep. NBA? No. No. No. Nope. No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_04:We don't no, we don't do NBA anytime soon.
SPEAKER_05:Baseball season's kicking up.
SPEAKER_03:Pitchers and catchers. Five, what is it?
SPEAKER_05:Three Friday games, three Fridays, and a Monday. Great.
SPEAKER_04:Let's just move every game to Wednesday. Two and ten. Sure.
SPEAKER_03:I think that's uh four. But what's the best you can see them pop at all goals? Like qualifying for a bowl.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. And that's just that that's borderline impossible. Right. Then you're you're gonna have to you're gonna have to win road games, number one, which you haven't been able to do.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and look at the road games you have. Yeah, at Alabama, at Louisville, at Miami, at Pitt, and at DC.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Good luck. Good luck with that. And even then, dude, like you gotta avoid losing home to teams that are gonna be better than you, like Florida and Clemson.
SPEAKER_05:Probably SMU and Virginia. DC State.
SPEAKER_03:Clemson, Florida.
SPEAKER_04:SMU and Virginia.
SPEAKER_03:Yep, you gotta start up pretty much. I mean, you gotta beat SMU. You have to like pull that one around. Yeah. And then maybe you can gotta beat Virginia too. Yeah, as I said, then you can get some momentum and be Virginia, and then you're next in two and up. And who knows, maybe win one of the next two.
SPEAKER_04:Okay. That's that's the only way I see him doing it in that bye week.
SPEAKER_03:Oh boy, yeah, this is hard to imagine. Right. And that's just going like five and three.
SPEAKER_04:Nice piece. Yeah, if if he's not out by the bye week before Clemson, then he's coming back another week.
SPEAKER_03:Which one just means that they don't have anything to give. So why waste money on a coach win wins as well? Right. Because we can't compete as a program, so we're only gonna pay one asshole.
SPEAKER_04:Like we're not paying two guys to suck. One. That's sad.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_04:It is.
SPEAKER_06:Wee.
SPEAKER_03:It's a tough sport anyway. Official Super Bowl picks. Right here. Next time. On the North Florida Sports Network.
SPEAKER_00:You gotta give us a shot. You know what?
