Last second shot by Robert McCrae to win the game was not to be, and the gnolls lose a hard fought game to the number one team in the country. The Duke Blue Devils 80-79. Duke was able to clamp down in the second half on the defensive end, but Florida State was able to give it one last shot and had a shot. I mean they got the stop down one, elected not to call a timeout, had the ball in Robert McRae's hands as he took the ball over into Florida State territory. He settled for the long three-pointer instead of driving to the hole, and that's the end of the game. I don't disagree with the decision not to call a timeout though. I disagree with the decision to take the shot, but that's you know, this is a guy who's done, they wouldn't be in any situation without him. Maybe in a hindsight, you take a timeout and you reinforce that to him that you go to the you go and you take a scone. But that's that's Monday morning quarterback. For State wanted this game, they looked like the ha the team that wanted it more, they got the ball better, 28 of 54 to 28 to 64, but the difference there is this got attempts, and then just the amount of attempts that Duke was able to have by getting so many offensive rebounds, 20 offensive rebounds to Ford State's five. Out rebound of the gnolls 44 to 24, and that's the game. They just kept giving themselves chances by getting the ball and getting second chances. You get just a couple more boards there, you win this game. 17 assists for Duke, only 10 assists for the Knowles. May 11 3s to 10 for Duke. Uh for Duke was 10 and 34 from 3. 11 of 28 for the Knowles. They had the shots that they needed to make. The difference was in the rebounding department, and I guess at the end not taking it to the hole, but man. It sucks. It sucks losing. I'd much rather lose a close game like this than get blown out. But you feel for Robert McCrae after the effort he's put up this last month, the way this team's been playing, they're you they should be in the tournament, but it it's about resume, it's about the whole season. And then that stretch they had in the beginning of the season is was just too bad to overcome. But they damn sure went close and they gave themselves a chance to play for a postseason tournament, which hasn't been done here in a while. So the NIT is something that's gonna be on the horizon for Florida State, and I think it's something to be excited about. Even if you win that game tonight, you're not in the tournament unless you win two more. But the way this team played, the way they showed about the what this program's about, I think the future's bright for Florida State. As far as this game, man. I you know, I don't in the first half in particular, the fouls. What are we doing here? Refs, I mean jerseys are getting are getting fouls here. Every time Boozer touched it, he got a call, and then they're hacking Jones all over the floor, and he's not going the line. Second half had changed. I wonder what happened. Maybe Louis got into the refs at halftime. But Duke came out with a defensive mindset in the second half, and they went on that big 19-2 run that pretty much won them in the game. But Florida State even after that run down nine was able to get it back and make this game anybody's game. And to to be up and then to give that run up and then to battle back and give yourself another shot was just shows the heart of this team. You feel for 'em, and there's gonna there's gonna be a tough tough locker room, but you held hold your head up high, Knowles. I I really enjoyed this team. I liked everything they had. There's a lot of what if this and what if that with this team because you you saw what the potential could be. And um it it was it was fun to watch. And Luke Lauk's just first year. Got a nice recruiting class coming in, basketball. You kind of had to retool your team every year. So the transfer portal opens up right after the tournament. So I'm excited about the future for Florida State. This one stings, though. This one stings because you had it. You had the big win against the number one team in the country, you had everybody would have been talking. But I wasn't surprised to buy the game. I thought Florida State could win. I was like, I don't know if they're gonna win, but they're gonna give it a shot. When I saw the line at 16 and a half, I bet a lot of money on it. Because it's just disrespectful. First of all, you saw the game Florida State was struggling, they put up the most points any other team did against you to have to be favored by six to lose sixteen and a half was really disrespectful. In this game you had in the first half, I believe the officials really got in the way. What are you gonna do? Thirteen points for Wiggins, twenty-five for McCrae, twenty-eight for LaTray Jones, both those guys played great, ten of nineteen for McRae, eight of fifteen for Jones, four of eight from three, two of eight for McCrae in the last one. Eight of eight from the line from LeJ Jones. Great game for LeJ Jones. Just left it all out there. I mean, he had three guys in double figures, but you weren't able to get that third guy, Bassong only five, thien, only two, McGee zero. That's that was big. Not one, three. And we said it, it's just like he got hot in the last game and we hit like four or five, and it's like just can you hit just one or two, maybe? And no, he was a big O for three O for two from the line from the three-point line. Martin Somerville did have six. Five for Bassong, two for Steen, but that's it. You were a two-man show with a little bit of Chauncey. And it wasn't enough. Not enough depth, not enough but a lot of heart. The future's bright. You need to get more guys that can rebound and make shots. But man, this team was fun to watch, and I really wanted to see them pull off that upset. Because this is a tournament that they could have won. You knock out Duke. I mean, you got North Carolina shorthanded or a Clemson team that you dominated just recently. And then you play either Virginia or Miami in a game where you get revenge on teams that just barely beat you recently. So it would have been a battle, but it was a it definitely could have happened. And um that's why it's gonna hurt so much for this team, because they know they could have done it. I love the turnaround that Luke's Luke Lauk's had in his first year, and the future's bright. But man, take it, you gotta take it to the hole, Robert. Come on, man.

Well, we gotta get on out of here. Our shuttle's here. 18 and 15 for the gnolls to finish the year. We're gonna end that team probably coming up. Go win that thing. You know? They were having a fun time. You could feel the energy of the team. They believed they could win and they just came up one point short. Miami snuck past Louisville. Virginia was able to get past NC State Wellmy in the semifinals. Duke will play the winner of North Carolina and Clemson. And that's uh that's about it. We're gonna see what the NCAA tournament has to offer when selection Sundays coming up Sunday. But I'm actually more interested in the campaign. Big loss for the gnolls. But man, I had a fun time watching this team. The future's bright for the gnolls. Get up, Tallahassee, and get to the top. I'm waiting, I can't wait for next year. I'm looking forward to next year's basketball season. More than next year's football season. I didn't close. But man, I wanted that one tonight. And they could it, they almost had it. I can't imagine if that shot goes in.
