Let me ask you one question The North Florida sport northflow is for North Florida You gotta give us a shot You know what you got this North Florida sports It's been a while and we have a national champion in basketball We got some baseball to talk about Maybe a little golf if we have time but I don't know Top five movie candies later Snow caps Well Yukon tried to ugly it up but uh Michigan wins it in basketball Michigan yeah I told I I I believe I was I believe I said they would roll 37 and three on the season Dusty May I mean it's they got a good coach that took FAU to the final four yeah so like when you get a guy like that unlimited resources right whatever and right now the transfer portal is open so these are a big couple of weeks for uh coaches in college basketball season's over but it just began kind of for next year yeah I mean when you look at a team like Michigan who had five starters from the transfer portal won the damn national championship so this is the big time season right here that you you'll be able to see what happens right now like right after the season so there's gonna be a lot of buildup I guess because you'll kind of know who players are yeah it it it's two weeks for the portal that we're gonna you could you could argue that it pretty much determines the season like going forward right is what happens during the two weeks of the portal we'll see I mean it's huge a lot of names everybody Thomas uh Tomas the song's gonna come back though that's a good retain for the gnolls yeah um I mean you you expected the guys that are in for Florida State to to go in I mean Somerville maybe you were hoping that you could keep him right but I don't think they had any intention on starting Somerville next season and I I I think that's what he's looking for right major league baseball gotten it going baseball forever yeah but um college baseball yeah just coming off fresh off a three game sweep between two top five opponents in Atlanta Florida State Georgia Tech what a difference the week makes man they it all the positivity after coming out of of you know they they beat Virginia yeah so they they they win the series against Duke after the Miles Bailey injury they go on the road they beat Virginia which was a top ten team at the time you know a lot of positivity yeah and then you go oh and four well you lose to Florida at home four quality you had quality opponents and then you could really see the whole three runs in all those games you could see they're just the lack of run production there's just no threat there's nobody that scares opposing pitchers as Miles Bailey did and when you take someone like that out of a lineup that lineup that relied upon him to make everybody else's job a little bit easier in that lineup so now those jobs you don't have anybody rely upon.

Georgia Tech’s Lineup Applies Constant Pressure

Right so you have a bunch of guys that have potential and who could do this but nobody's the guy and everybody's pressing that I mean bigger picture you're talking about so to me on the season at this point they've played two teams that have a roster that is is Omaha caliber and that's Florida and Georgia Tech and they're 0-6 in those games two of the losses to Florida you had Miles Bailey the last four this weekend yeah you didn't um I think maybe if if he doesn't get hurt you've got a shot at winning one of these games up in Atlanta like the Georgia Tech Thursday was the game yeah Georgia Tech's lineup is ridiculous. Like did they're it really is they're gonna make Omaha if they don't make Omaha this season it's it's it's a choke job.

One through nine their lineup it's insane yeah they're stacked and but but you could see where you don't have that just that extra burst that you needed Thursday to get that extra couple of runs that would have won that game easily. Yeah I mean it's it's a different lineup you know you get a balk and a couple of bad things and then you're in a tight ball game and then that lineup's too much pressure and you lose a close game where you should have won. And that was it. Yeah that was it that was your shot to get a game the the you saw what that lineup's capable of.

Well today today what what you know losing a run rule game like this today like turning the game over to the bullpen in the fourth inning that was weird right I I hope it's not because of any kind of injury fifth inning whatever I hope it's not because of an injury right Stoke came in the fourth yeah he came in the fourth so you hope that it's not that and that they just kind of said you know whatever. Um but that that highlights kind of you're on you're you're on your game three you're on the the the end of your bullpen you know you're relying on the guys that that aren't first and and they got just absolutely destroyed.

They did I mean impressively I mean that just one through nine I haven't seen a college lineup I mean I'll tell you what FSU had a lineup pretty dangerous but not to this extent that that lineup was something man and they just keep coming at you and they can do it in every way they can walk they can slap they can hit it the other way with two strikes you know you hit with two outs and two strikes you when you look at you look at the game up until the eighth yesterday and you're like man FSU could be right there. But when you have those type of lineups man they put so much pressure on you.

Yeah and you want you got it's fear you have to have a bullpen you have to have depth in the bullpen you can just sense you have to have arms you can sense the the the stress on the pitching staff and you don't sense that no because right because you have a lineup. I'll say this about Georgia Tech in in terms of the ACC they are clearly the cream of the crop like there there is nobody else that has a roster I'd say they have the best lineup in the country that can match with them.

Yeah yeah I I know I I I mean it's there's a lot of good lineups out there but I think they're the best I I don't think there's a better lineup right top to bottom no but what I what I what I will say is once it gets time to Omaha in the last eight I think you're I think you're going to see that the ACC like it's a competitive league.

Right but but having one team is clearly better than everybody else which is Georgia Tech. Yeah and and again like I don't expect him to lose the series all season there's just so many other dominant teams in the SEC that have that SEC I mean you got a team in UCLA that's gonna just keep rolling. Yep UCLA and Georgia Tech are kind of just dominating while you have a bunch of other really good teams that are like Auburn Georgia you look at the teams out of the SEC that aren't going to have that aren't going to host teams like Florida LSU Florida LSU Tennessee Ole Miss they can get hot like I expect any one of those teams to the if Florida State hosts a regional I expect any of those four teams to be the number two and come in here and beat us.

The Path Back To Hosting

It's about as bad as it gets it there's gotta be I mean if you're FSU you just kind of just got to forget this forget that series like you said for Georgia Tex you're not gonna see them again. No maybe in the ACC tournament I doubt who cares right but you're not they're gonna be hosting you don't worry about that you have five you have five conference weekends left you have Pitt you have Notre Dame you have Stanford you have Clemson and Miami.

If you win all of those series and I mean you don't even have to win all of them but there's still a clear path to hosting a regional there's just some disappointments there's some guys that need to step up in this lineup. I mean there's just but they they're just not those guys. Yeah right it it it is what it is you missed on some key pieces in the portal in terms of them you know um that I mean just the giants that Georgia Tech has right this is one after the next well this is their year.

I mean you look at the guys that are in their lineup and it's guys that have been there for three years a couple of portal guys you got uh the dude from Cal the dude from Pitt and like this is their year one through nine when you go into next season it's gonna be completely different. Like their entire lineup is going to be drafted. Yeah and that's that's kind of what you saw at Florida State a couple years ago when they made it to Omaha you know the Tennessee haven't been able to replace really anyone no I mean you they had a first baseman they had a first baseman your starting rotation is the strength of your team it kept you in the game but the middle infield the middle infield and I would say there's not you don't have any outfielders that have any pop.

Stutzer and Dowd yeah I like Stutzer he's a he's a young talent he's a freshman but when you take away that that professional bat right that MLB bat that sets the whole lineup up when you take that out of there like that takes this team from being a team that actually could maybe make a run to Omaha to like man they're gonna be lucky to get out of a regional it's gonna be about the draw and that that you know it sucks man because that's that's who Miles was you're talking about one of the best power hitters in the country. Yeah a guy that that two weeks he hasn't played and he would still be leading a team like Georgia Tech in offensive numbers.

Yeah the third baseman is quick right the third baseman they got from Pitt yeah he'll be gone in the first four rounds he's 6'4 230 pounds his bombs you know he's a glove he's a plus glove like it it they're the they're like I said they're the cream of the crop in the ACC they're clearly the best team if they don't make it to Omaha it's going to be a failure on their part but I don't I don't expect them to to I don't expect that to happen.

As you can see last year how you could tell you could just feel the pressure his back when he won that tournament I would be fine kept in third place. It looked like yesterday I mean the two the two back nines in the first two rounds was some of the best golf you could you'd ever seen and he wasn't even really driving the ball that accurately but putting the ball really well when he puts well means nobody can beat it.
