The Sportsbook Sharps

Brothers Talk Football: Betting Insights & NFL Week 2 Predictions

Andy Reust Season 4 Episode 3

Send us a text

What happens when two brothers sit down to talk football betting? A hilarious, insightful breakdown of everything from college powerhouses to NFL disappointments—with plenty of disagreements along the way.

This week, host Andy welcomes his brother Matt for their first in-person podcast of the season, diving into the aftermath of Week 1 and setting the stage for Week 2's biggest matchups. The brothers don't hold back as they dissect USF's shocking upset over Florida, placing Gators coach Billy Napier firmly on the "Stay Frosty" hot seat list with a brutal schedule ahead that could lead to as many as nine losses.

NFL discussions heat up with debates about the Cowboys' missed opportunities against Philly, Baltimore's historic collapse against Buffalo, and whether Justin Herbert has finally silenced his critics. But the real fireworks come when making picks—Matt boldly takes Wisconsin +21 against Alabama, arguing the post-Saban era might mark a return to mediocrity for the Crimson Tide, while Andy confidently backs the Lions -6 against a Bears team he believes is focused on everything except winning football games.

Between analysis of Georgia-Tennessee, Chiefs-Eagles, and Monday night's doubleheader, the brothers share laugh-out-loud moments about Windows 11 frustrations, AI technology failures, and their collective disdain for certain coaches' sideline demeanors (we're looking at you, Mike McDaniel and your capri pants).

Whether you're looking for betting insights, college football predictions, or just want to eavesdrop on two brothers who can't agree on anything except that Ryan Clark should "kiss their grits," this episode delivers entertainment and analysis in equal measure. Follow us on TikTok @tssgambling for our famous dog picks and join us next week as we see whose locks hit and whose predictions crash and burn.

Speaker 1:

Hey everybody. Today is Thursday, september 11th, and we are back with another episode of the Sportsbook Sharps. As always, I am your Andy, and I have a special guest. It's been a laundry list of guests so far this season. I have another new guest this week. He's been on the podcast before, but this is his first appearance this year. My brother, matt, is on the podcast this week.

Speaker 2:

First time live in person, excited to be here. I do think we should open up with an apology, though we should apologize to Ryan Clark. Neither of us have actually ever played football before, but we're going to talk football. I hope Ryan Clark is okay with that. He gets really offended of people that didn't play the sport talking about it, so I apologize to you, ryan Clark.

Speaker 1:

I saw that, yeah, ryan Clark a little bit in the news this week with his comments about people that don't play football shouldn't talk about football. But guess what? I don't think we, ryan Clark, gambles as much as we probably do on football, so we have every right to talk gambling about football.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, my take on that is guys like Ryan Clark are too busy playing. Don't watch as much football as others. While he's out on the field playing on Saturdays and Sundays throughout his entire career, we're sitting on the couch drinking beer watching the game, so I've seen way more football in my life than he has.

Speaker 1:

Yes, absolutely, and we will for the rest of our lives. I don't think. I mean, I don't know what Ryan Clark's setup is, but I don't think he's got five TVs. We're down here in the basement right now. We got the Thursday night football game on the main screen. We could have put a little college there's probably a few college games on, but yeah, we watch a ton of football. This guy has no idea.

Speaker 2:

People that didn't play sports, that watch sports and talk about sports is 95, no, 99.9 of the population.

Speaker 1:

Right, exactly, yeah, so I apologize, ryan yeah, well, I don't apologize, ryan, you can kiss my grits. Uh, I'm gonna talk sports. This is a fourth season of talking sports and I'm gonna to continue to talk it and I'll get on Twitter and talk it too. So our X, or whatever it's called today, just a little bit of a gambling group update. So, like we said, the last episode first week was not great for the gambling group, but last week we bounced back a little bit.

Speaker 1:

Four and three, woo, oh hey, there you go and three whoo winning week you broke, even with the big, maybe a little bit ahead depending on how much you bet. Whatever then the odds you got uncle John and I to know. All others are behind us. Oh, it's you.

Speaker 2:

I need to win this week. Bad, you're one of the Owen time. I'm an Owen to her oh no, I'm doing great to cover the first week, and then I bet against the Colton, apparently Jim Irsay day, which I did not know, which was a mistake.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that was easy money. Yeah, the Jim Irsay day, well, and plus Tua, I mean Miami looks concussed, awful, so I almost made that my lock this week, just keep going.

Speaker 2:

I like that pick as well. I'm sure we'll get into it, but I do like that.

Speaker 1:

And then an update on the new thing I'm doing. The anti-Iowa parlay Just barely missed. I missed the first quarter under in the halftime by like a point or a point and a half, so I almost had it. So I'm going to get back in the lab. I'll cook up a new anti-Iowa. I don't know who they even play this week, if they play this week, but every week that Iowa plays and I did this last year I was betting Iowa unders, forever, just the unders, and I don't know why I didn't think of it last year to like parlay quarters and halves and all this stuff to get better odds because they just still do not score.

Speaker 2:

They play UMass this week and the over-under is 35 a half on the Yahoo app right now 35.

Speaker 1:

Their defense is good enough.

Speaker 2:

UMass may not score.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so oh, no sorry.

Speaker 2:

The over under is 43 and a half. I was minus 35 and a half. I would maybe take UMass plus 35.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's what I did the first week I took. I forget who they played, but it was like 38 points or something, yeah, so yeah.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's see. I think that's all I had to say about the gambling update. It's only two weeks in, still very early in the season. Recap on college football Not a lot to talk about. Usf is now 2-0. They look pretty good. They beat Florida in the swamp by a field goal. Now, we didn't watch that game. We were at an all-day party when that game, I think, was going on last week, so we missed out on that.

Speaker 2:

We've got lots of thoughts, but we'll save those for later in the podcast.

Speaker 1:

Oh, the.

Speaker 2:

Florida Gators.

Speaker 1:

All right. Well, I also want to put an alert out there. After the first week I thought Bo dead and not going to be their normal Boise State, but I don't know. They looked really good the other day. They demolished eastern Washington and, with USF now knocking off Florida, I'm starting to rethink. I need to rethink the Smurf turf and just adjust my bets accordingly, because I was all ready to send them off and bet against them every week, but they whooped up on eastern Washington last week.

Speaker 2:

But is Florida good or are they really bad? They were thought highly of because they're in the SEC.

Speaker 1:

I had their coach on the hot seat last year on the Frosty Throne. So yeah, I mean I might have them up here again in a few weeks, who knows? A few weeks.

Speaker 2:

Or maybe you have them for tonight, oh boy.

Speaker 1:

We'll get to that segment a little bit later. Michigan, oklahoma boring Snoozefest what a boring game. Michigan's just not good without Harbaugh cheating for them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they're back to not really mattering in football again. Exactly Harbaugh showed up and they mattered and they kind of disappeared for a long time. I think they're going to be middle of the pack. Nobody cares anymore nobody cares anymore that's what I remember when you were in high school and college, like nobody like they. I remember in college specifically when they had Mike Hart and they had like a pretty Chad Henney I believe was the quarterback. Yeah, they got beat by Appalachian State early in the season yes, and it was just one of those.

Speaker 2:

That was when Rich Rodriguez was the head coach, rich Rod was one of the all-time collapses and it was was one of the biggest spreads of all time to actually lose straight up, and I still remember that game and that was from… 2008? 07.

Speaker 1:

So in 07 or 08, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh. What's going on here? Who just missed that field goal Was that Washington.

Speaker 2:

Washington just missed it. Oh my gosh, it was 14-13.

Speaker 1:

I did have the pack in the game, minus three and a half. So that's fine by me. I do as well. I think I got actually maybe two and a half because I live bet it. I had to check my app.

Speaker 2:

Every app had a free bet today, so I've got it three different ways and three different apps, with all promo bets there you go.

Speaker 1:

And then one last note on college football, oklahoma State. This is just a future alert to myself not to bet on them. I always think, for some reason with mike gundy you know I'm a man, I'm 40 come at me whatever 60 now, wow, that was, that was I think I was in high school, so that might have been 20 years ago.

Speaker 1:

You might be 60 now, but anyway I always think they're frisky. They always score a lot of points. You can always take them in overs. I think they usually cover the spread when they're underdogs. They got whooped up 69 to 3 whoa 69 to 3, yeah 60.

Speaker 2:

I missed that score.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's why I had it in my notes. Oh, I mean not even close. So they're really bad this year. So do not bet on them to cover anything this year. I think Gundy might have been a little bit busy recording those commercials. Have you seen that? He did the? Come at me, I'm a man, whatever thing. I know time frame coaches need their money too yeah, coaches need their money and he certainly got it with the commercials, so he might be a future state frosty, he's been there a long.

Speaker 2:

I mean probably 20 years, not the longest, cuz Kirk is the longest, oh yeah coach, coach, right now, ferenc, yeah, iowa settles for mediocre football and they keep him around forever.

Speaker 1:

Evidently Oklahoma State does too.

Speaker 2:

Yikes.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's jump into the NFL First game. We've got to talk about our Cowboys. How about them Cowboys Covered against Philly last week? I never thought that would happen. I didn't think Philly looked very good. They looked terrible. They did not, even though they won.

Speaker 2:

And they're, what did we say? They're a point favorite, a point and a half favorite over Kansas City, Point and a half favorite and they looked terrible. They didn't look good. Cowboys I don't know if the Cowboys were going to be any good, but they should have been right there in that game, high on the Cowboys.

Speaker 1:

That was almost my lock of the week. Almost like a minus five and a half again.

Speaker 2:

I well, my app and CBS had him six and a half and I still almost.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I took it in the, so Darby and I do the app CBS pics every week for a work thing that she's in and I took him. That Darby did as well. I mean, look, russell had cooked last week for the Giants like that.

Speaker 2:

The giant theyants aren't going to be any good. They look so bad. I agree I will probably bet the Cowboys.

Speaker 1:

Wait now. Green Bay ends the half missing a field goal. What is going on during this podcast?

Speaker 2:

It has moved to minus 4.5, but it's minus 115. Can we talk about that?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's terrible. Why is it minus?

Speaker 2:

115 on the odds.

Speaker 1:

So that's where you've got to go. Oh, you can't log into Fanatics. Fanatics never does that, almost always minus 110 in Fanatics. We'll get to that, all right. Oh and anyway, last thing on that the Cowboys. They were one either non-two plays. If they went the other way, the Cowboys win this game, I think, or at least take the lead late. The CD Lamb miss. Oh my goodness Right in the bread basket.

Speaker 2:

It hits him right in the hands and then later after that it's one of those catches.

Speaker 1:

If he would have made it. It's like a highlight reel. It's a superstar play. Not everybody's going to make it, but if he wants to be a superstar, if you miss the first one, you absolutely have to make the second one, and he didn't make either. And then the fumble like the Cowboys have the ball on like the 15 or 20-yard line and they just fumble it away. Just incredible. They had a real shot there, but whatever.

Speaker 2:

It would have been a good way to start the season for them Friday.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it would have been Friday game in Brazil Chiefs Chargers. We kind of talked about this. I don't get it the Chiefs. They usually find a way to win these, but they didn't find a way this time.

Speaker 2:

But that's your guy, though. Right, you like Justin Herbert? Well, never heard of him forever.

Speaker 1:

As air bear arrived.

Speaker 2:

I don't know, he looked really good Friday night Did your ex-guy that was coming at you last year on the tour. Just come back.

Speaker 1:

No, that was two years ago. We broke up, him and my own ex I remember you had- the spike bet, where you bet the under on them. That was two years ago.

Speaker 1:

Yeah no, that guy went away quick. I think he blocked me or I don't know. We just went our separate ways. Sometimes on social media you just go your separate ways. And yeah, that was a whole season two of the Sportsbook Sharps. That was a whole vendetta against that guy Because he was trying to tell me that Air Bear is like an MVP guy. And he's not an MVP guy. He might be, I mean, he's a Pro Bowl guy because, like, 14 quarterbacks make the Pro Bowl, so because every quarterback begs out of it and so they go to the next guy in the next guy. So I could see like Spencer Rattler making a Pro Bowl one day.

Speaker 2:

but I mean charge to be good. I mean that we just talked about Michigan. They stink. Now hardball is gone back in the NFL charge probably gonna be good yeah, no, I.

Speaker 1:

I think they could contend there. Then another note on this game, because it was the first time on YouTube the Brazil game. I had to put this note in here, matt, and you probably know these people better than I do, but this was almost my old man yells a cloud. It should be. I have no idea who these YouTube people are and I and I watch YouTube like I. I don't watch it like a kid watches it, but I I play a bunch of mobile games and stuff and I'm like I'm on youtube, I'm youtube adjacent, uh, but not knowing mr beast is pretty bad.

Speaker 2:

Well, I knew who he. I've I've heard of him. You've never seen any of his videos I never really cared.

Speaker 1:

the only thing I see on that, mr beast, is everybody piling on him because they say he does everything for the clout and that he's not genuine with like he'll do giveaways Like it does, can I? Cram a million people on this field, and then somebody wins a hundred thousand dollars.

Speaker 2:

I don't know you should watch beast games. It was on Amazon prime.

Speaker 1:

Oh, is this an Amazon plug? It was really good. Here we go.

Speaker 2:

It's a. It's a reality show competitive game, and he actually doubled the prize pool out of his own money. He's kind of goofy looking, though. Yeah, he's a very goofy individual.

Speaker 1:

I see his candy bar everywhere. It's a very distinct blue. Have you seen the candy?

Speaker 2:

bar in the show. Oh yeah, I've seen the candy bar.

Speaker 1:

Is it any good? It's okay. It's just like a Nestle.

Speaker 2:

Crunch. Yeah, a little more premium, but I'd say the thing in cost or in taste uh, in, in both oh, okay, okay, so it does taste, but what he? Did this year for easter. He actually had his own little easter eggs filled with peanut butter and I got them and put them right next to the reese's cup so they look just like it. Okay, reese's cup kicks him, I mean it's all that he saw it's more premium, but not not doesn't beat that reese's reese's.

Speaker 1:

That's just. I had some bats, the other day, there's more the cream, the pumpkins and the bats are out. Oh my gosh, they're so good.

Speaker 2:

Uh then, then they were a bunch of people I'd never heard of yeah, I don't know all the I don't like, but he, he's the number one of all time on there I know he is I I I don't get it myself.

Speaker 1:

Uh I'm. We watch a lot of his. I'm an older man so I don't quite understand all that stuff after the pod.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, all right. Everybody's homework is to go watch one Mr Beast video.

Speaker 1:

I just I don't get it though. Like the NFL had to be watching that. Like Roger Goodell runs it it's a bunch of old white men running it like they had to see this and be like who's who's, mr Beast, and why are we doing all this stuff? Like, don't you think you think that the average guy sitting at home in kansas city that watched that game knows who missed? No, but that's not who they're that's not who they're going to.

Speaker 2:

Those people are going to watch the game anyways. They're trying to get the younger kids to watch, right, the people that aren't going to sit down and watch a three and a half hour football game. The young kids don't have the attention span to do that. So try to pull that generation in. I, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I guess. I guess that he'd do a bunch of cross-promotion stuff, I'm sure, adam.

Speaker 2:

Silver said today he doesn't care if everybody watches NBA games. It's a highlight league.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, don't get me going, he's all focused on being on the highlights. I wasn't going to bring that up, it's all about the highlights to him.

Speaker 2:

He doesn't care if everybody has access to all the games.

Speaker 1:

Well, games you know well, and that's also ridiculous because somebody pointed out, internationally you can get all the games for like 95 a year. All the games, 82 games. All the teams, 95 a year. The nba here in the united states where they play it, except for toronto, uh, you have to pay a small fortune, kid. All the cable channels you gotta have nbc you gotta have, peacock you gotta have yeah, because they do all these different things.

Speaker 2:

You can't on your because I had NBA TV last year. Right Trace Jackson Davis used to watch a lot of his games. You can't watch any of the ones that are on ESPN or TNT on there and then I would get blacked out on the Portland Trailblazers because they were on the local. Sorry, it's very frustrating yeah.

Speaker 1:

Hmm, sorry, that's very frustrating. Yeah, yeah, but that was Brazil, so we got one down. I think there were six or seven to go this year. That's incredible. They have a million international games there's.

Speaker 2:

Germany. I'm just saying how do you feel about the?

Speaker 1:

international games, whatever. As long as my team doesn't play there, I don't care.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's a disadvantage to the teams that have to go there and play Like. Is this an exhibition series?

Speaker 1:

Well, Darby keeps calling Jacksonville the Jacksonville Londoners or whatever the London Jacksonvillers or whatever London Jaguars. They're a different story right Because if they got no fans.

Speaker 2:

they're going to get shipped out of their city, so they kind of have to give up the games.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

But for Kansas City to have to go over there. That was a home game for them that's a weird move.

Speaker 1:

Yes, it's that they would super multiple time in the last few years super five times five times a Super Bowl, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well, it's fine if you go and play exhibition, go play your preseason games over there, but to play the regular season game when you you could be coming down to one game deciding whether you're in or out of the playoffs. That one's time now see this is.

Speaker 1:

You'll learn this now that you're in the eastern time zone, now that you've moved back to the great midwest. The london game is a or the germany, or whatever they are. They're beautiful when they start at nine or ten in the morning because you've got kids. You'll be up. So like. You wake up and, oh, if you can fight the kids for tv, I guess, but you can.

Speaker 2:

Like I wake up.

Speaker 1:

we do a little breakfast, Darby and I. We kind of just lounge around, let the dogs out, maybe walk the dog, come back, whatever, and there's football on.

Speaker 2:

It's beautiful. You're talking to somebody that had nine o'clock college football kickoffs for the last eight years.

Speaker 1:

There you go, ten o'clock.

Speaker 2:

NFL Not starting until noon feels really weird.

Speaker 1:

well, there you go, then you'll appreciate it, your day's half over 1 o'clock for the NFL super late, not fully adjusted to that.

Speaker 2:

Alright.

Speaker 1:

Battle of Ohio, part 1. This round goes to the Bengals, but they got lucky. I don't know if you noticed this during the game. The Browns kicker stinks. He needs to be fired. Missed a field goal and an extra point in the one point game. Got lucky. I don't know if you noticed this during the game. The Browns kicker stinks. He needs to be fired. Missed a field goal and an extra point in the one-point game. Burrow looked bad. He didn't have anything going with Chase. I have the stats here Chase two catches, 26 yards.

Speaker 2:

Yikes, I still like him this week, though. Who did the Bengals play this week? They got your Jacksonville Jaguars.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, it's at home in Cincinnati. You got T-Walk Don't listen to this man, he's a guest. I'm the podcast host here. You got to take Jags plus three and a half all day. The Bengals never win in September. You'll learn this. You'll be in Cincinnati You're a Cincinnati person now and you'll learn the Bengals they don't win in September. That was a rarity. This year's different, I believe, did they say. I don't know if I heard the stat right and somebody will write into the podcast and let me know if I'm wrong. I think they said this was only that coach's second win in September.

Speaker 1:

How long has he been there, this is his fourth year.

Speaker 2:

I think it's brutal. They've had a really bad start. September's been bad. Last year they didn't win a game.

Speaker 1:

I don't think in September. They just can't start. They started 0-4 or 0-5 last year. Yeah, they've got to be better. It was bad, yeah, because they almost ended up making the playoffs but their start was just so bad. So, yeah, yeah, that's all I got to say about that. One last thing on that I said that's all I had to say. 17 points is not going to win you a lot of games in the NFL. So they need to figure that offense out, and they will eventually figure it out, because they'll start hanging 35-40 on people. But for right now, I'm still putting up an alert. I honestly think Jacksonville looked good too in their first game.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't know that I'd buy into Jacksonville ever. I know you don't, I know.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's talk the Rodgers revenge game, keeping it in the AFC North. Here the Stolers, they win but they don't cover. Is something wrong with the Steelers' defense?

Speaker 2:

They gave them 32 points to the J-E-T-S Jets, jets, jets, jets. Yeah, it's not a good outing for a team that's not going to be very good this year whoa, wait a minute now.

Speaker 1:

I don't know if you listened to last week's podcast. They're one of my door dark horses for the super bowl, aaron no, did you? I said the jets are right yeah oh oh, giving up 32 to the jets.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, oh yeah yeah, I thought you were saying that's not a very good team to give 32 up to start the season. No, no.

Speaker 1:

No, do you think it's a little bit? Justin Fields is going to be better, like he kind of played well last year.

Speaker 2:

You watched the game the other night. Apparently, the Bears just can't get a good quarterback. They stink Trubisky Fields. I mean Will? I mean Kayla? I mean they just can't. Kayla Williams stinks. They can't get a good quarterback. That class had a ton of good quarterbacks that came out first with the number one overall pick and didn't pick the right one. They could have picked four other quarterbacks. It would have been much better off for them, I mean they just can't get it right.

Speaker 1:

They can't develop them either. I thought Fields did okay last year. I don't know why they made the switch last year I argued against it on the podcast why they switched from Fields to Russell Wilson. But yeah, I think I mean the Jets stink, though You're right, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I mean danger us, you know.

Speaker 1:

You got to get them out there and play. But yeah, I'm getting about ready to start to panic on my bet on the Steelers to win the Super Bowl, because if they're giving up 32 to the Jets in week one, that's not good.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's a tough one.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of future Super Bowl bets. Packers destroyed the Lions. Micah Parsons got his first sack as a Packer. What a bummer to watch. As a Cowboys fan, that was disgusting. It's on. Right now it's Thursday night football. The Pack's on. It's gross.

Speaker 2:

They keep talking about him. That's the other thing. Can we just not talk about him all game? Well, they have to. It's such a big thing. That happened right before the season where Jerry just totally screwed it up and so they've got to talk about it because people are interested in it. Packers are in tough division, though I know that was your number one fan. We heard it last week.

Speaker 1:

No, I'm not the number one fan, I just think they Look. Look, they did it on the show tonight. So darby and I were upstairs watching it while you're putting the kids down. Bart star, 27 years old, won a super bowl. Uh, brett farm, 27 years old, won a super bowl. Aaron rogers, 27 years old, won a super bowl. Jordan love, november, 27 years old. It was the weirdest. I couldn't believe that was all the stats. So that's very strange. All right. So I don't know, maybe it's karma. Some people say karma is a cat.

Speaker 1:

I don't like the all-whites no, they're uniformed. The commanders are. I have a boring uniform too yeah also a note Dar 0-1 in locks after taking the Lions there. That was her first lock of the week ever and she did not hit it. Welcome to the club. All right, was this possibly the game of the week? Baltimore 40, buffalo 41. First time since the 1960s that Buffalo has come back from down 15 or more with less than four minutes left in the game.

Speaker 2:

Did the Bills win it or did the Ravens lose it?

Speaker 1:

I think. Well, that's an interesting question, because they had a shot. Baltimore did they got that punt back late. All they needed to do was get one first down and they didn't get. Baltimore did they got that punt back late. All they needed to do was get one first down and they didn't get a first down. This is a team that brags about how they play smash-mouth football. They have Derrick Henry, tractor, cito. They got two running backs back there. Lamar runs it all the time, yeah, and they couldn't get one first down when they needed it, yeah.

Speaker 2:

We actually turned the game off. We thought it was over.

Speaker 1:

We came down to the basement, we put it up we put it up on the corner tv and watched nobody too. Instead. And then the next thing I know, we're having to pause the movie because the game's coming.

Speaker 2:

I'm like what is going on? What happened, yeah? But I mean, that's just the thing in the nfl when you got really good quarterbacks in the game, like you're never out of it. So yeah, josh allen was one of those top tier quarterbacks. So, um god, it'd be nice to have one of those top-tier quarterbacks.

Speaker 1:

So God it would be nice to have one of those for a football team. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2:

Wouldn't that be something I don't know? I was looking at us. We have not had the number one pick as a Cowboys fan since Aikman. What do?

Speaker 1:

you mean. We've never had a shot to get a good quarterback, oh, that's it.

Speaker 2:

But there have been quarterbacks that the cowboys passed by, not not high level. We've not, like I, because I was looking it up, because the bears just keep getting all these high level draft picks and quarter right they miss it all of them and I sit here and debate. Would I rather have the hope that I could have a number one quarterback and he's going to be really good, or get a quarterback at like second or third pick.

Speaker 1:

The cowboys have not had that well, not in the top, like top, like five or ten picks. But I mean, there's quarterbacks that get taken in the later rounds that are good, yeah, but the ones that get you excited are the guys that are top five.

Speaker 2:

Yeah yeah, like those are the ones that you're going to be like. That's game-changing. I wasn't excited that we got Dak late. Some of those aren't overly exciting.

Speaker 1:

Well, mississippi State Like this Big win for them last week yeah that was a big win. Big win yeah.

Speaker 2:

Although I don't know how good that was. Arizona State right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, arizona State. I don't know how good they are, they're kind of right out there last year.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm not sure about that one.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, to answer your question, I don't know. I think Buffalo won it more than Baltimore lost it. I just I mean Josh going to be in the playoffs. He killed me. By the way, in fantasy I was going into Sunday night up they only had Allen left and I was up like 32, and I'm like, ooh, as long as he doesn't go crazy. Oh, he dropped like 40-something.

Speaker 2:

I ended up losing by seven or eight.

Speaker 1:

That was tough. And then last game I want to talk about from last week Vikings 27, bears 24. Lady hit her first lock, so Stanley picked the Sunday night game. The Baltimore Buffalo did not hit it but lady in her first ever lock hits it. Lady and uncle mike hit their locks and uncle mike had the vikings minus one and a half. What a comeback. First half was terrible. That game was almost unwatchable.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean, I didn't see it Well we were working on the house but I saw JJ came back and had three touchdowns in the fourth quarter Three touchdowns.

Speaker 1:

I wrote him off early in the game, twice in the game. I wrote him off because they had really bad drives and I was already going to Twitter like, oh, this is why you don't draft a guy that's coached, cheated, like oh, they need the plays to see what the Bears are doing, that kind of stuff. And then he's, of course, three touchdowns as Randy Moss is on the Manning cast or whatever.

Speaker 2:

And that goes to the painful right To your Bears fan. You got the number one pick. You picked him over JJ right. Jj went later in the draft.

Speaker 1:

And then you watch him put up 21 on you in the fourth quarter and you don't think your quarterback can do that. Well, yeah, it's painful, well, and it just. I mean, can we talk a minute about caleb williams and that outfit he was wearing? He should be arrested. He got a lot of hate for that well, he should, and I was on it early.

Speaker 1:

I said it to the gambling group early. I was like, oh man, I should have loaded up when I saw what he was wearing. I should have loaded up that, knowing they wouldn't end up winning. You cannot. You're a professional athlete and you're wearing, like the old man, undershirt under your uniform, like that, and it was like a brownish tannish, I don't even know, like a camo tannish thing or something with stripes. I it was awful looking. It's not anywhere near the bear's colors. Like what was he doing wearing that under it?

Speaker 2:

you're gonna get called out on all that when you play the way he does.

Speaker 1:

Yeah yeah, well, it doesn't matter, even if they won. I was still calling him out on that, like that was ridiculous and the whole thing. Like if you look at modern nfl uniform, if you watch nfl films and watch games from like the 60s, 70s, 80s, the the players like sleeves. They had the quarterbacks had long sleeves. The whole reason they don't have them now is they don't want people grabbing them when they're in the pocket and stuff. That's why they've slowly shifted them up. That's why the uniforms look so bad now, because the shoulder stripes have gone from like mid arm up onto the top of the shoulder.

Speaker 2:

That's why it looks terrible.

Speaker 1:

That's why, if you see, like they just showed a packers guy in the crowd, his uniform or jersey has a much better. It has arms sleeves on it. It looks much better with sleeves. So if we're going to go this route with caitlin williams wearing that, he should have to wear the bears jersey with just sleeves. Yeah, it's always ridiculous. Oh, I get so worked up on that.

Speaker 1:

All right you're a big uniform guy I am a big uni guy, my guy retired, though in the off season the last year or so, he, my uni watch guy, retired. So now I don't, I don't, I'm not as plugged in as I used to be, but uh, all right, let's get to the. Stay frosty. We're done with recaps here. Matt, you gotta stay frosty, for sure, do we kind of hit it at we got dead man walking.

Speaker 2:

He is going to stay frosty, as can be. I got Billy down in Florida. Billy, billy boy down in Florida. Oh boy, he is going to get fired.

Speaker 1:

I think I had him on last year.

Speaker 2:

He will be fired before the season is over. He has absolutely no chance to survive this season. He lost that game the other week, which was just abysmal that he lost Right. Their schedule is an absolute brutal schedule. I they might be a nine loss team this year. Oh, come on. I looked up the schedule nine, nine losses let's, let's hear a couple you find me a win in here so wait, we got one loss right.

Speaker 1:

One. One loss, one and one. Okay, all right, they're at lsu, that's a loss.

Speaker 2:

At the University of.

Speaker 1:

Miami that's a loss. Yeah, that's probably a loss. Texas yeah, that's a loss. Texas A&M I don't know. I never believed in the 12th man, so, yeah, probably a loss.

Speaker 2:

Okay, they have Mississippi State, which just beat Arizona State, the other day, I don't know. Okay, so that one's probably a win.

Speaker 1:

I'm counting that as a win. Oh, you're counting that as a win. That's a win for them.

Speaker 2:

Oh boy, They've got Georgia.

Speaker 1:

No, what's that coming down the track?

Speaker 2:

Oh boy, they got Kentucky at Kentucky. They'll probably win that one. Kentucky's not very good. And then they finish. They finished the season, ole Miss Tennessee.

Speaker 1:

Florida State. I'm not a big Rocky Top guy, but oof, that's a brutal schedule. I mean that's 7, 8, maybe 9. Yeah, I could go 9. And now the SEC's overrated.

Speaker 2:

All their people are overrated.

Speaker 1:

Well, everybody's ranked.

Speaker 2:

But literally the remainder of their schedule. They have two non-ranked teams and the lowest ranked team they have is Ole Miss at 17. Yeah, that's, that's a brutal schedule for a team that just got beat by South Florida and they put up 16 points. He's going to be fired.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, that's true, he's been there a while.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he went 3-5, 3-5 and 4-4 in the SEC. So he's going to have another subpar losing year in the SEC. He's going to be fired. Oh boy, dead man walking, he's out All right.

Speaker 1:

So stay frosty, you got to say it. You got to say it. Stay frosty, billy boy. All right, I'm going to the NFL for mine and I think I put him on here before. I'm pretty sure I put him on here last season. I'm putting up Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel. I don't need to rehash all his mediocrity because I've done this before. So if you want to check it out, check out season three. I'm sure I put him up. I don't know. Once or twice they lost and I know it's the Jim Irsay passed away over the offseason game, but they lost 33-8, and the eight points came in garbage time with the backup quarterback in. It wasn't even Tua.

Speaker 2:

Did he get more hate just because of the look he tries to portray who? Mike McDaniels? Yeah, and the ego of which he carries it.

Speaker 1:

I don't know, it's something with his glasses. I'm with you, he wears those short pants. He does.

Speaker 2:

He wears capri pants, if anybody remembers those names he wears capri pants on the sidelines.

Speaker 1:

He's got a whole different. He looks very smug too while he does it For somebody that's not won really anything.

Speaker 2:

Yeah well, he's smug in the interviews too. Post game.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah so.

Speaker 2:

I do think he gets extra hate, but I could see that being a hot seat.

Speaker 1:

I don't think he's very. It's not even that they lost the way they did. He's just not a very good coach. There's a million hours of tape on Daniel Jones and how bad Daniel Jones is. He shredded him. Yeah, Daniel Jones destroyed him. He looked like an MVP candidate.

Speaker 2:

I never seen that before. This week we're talking right. They got the Broncos this week. We'll see if he's any good.

Speaker 1:

I think the.

Speaker 2:

Broncos kill him.

Speaker 1:

I know it's at home, I agree. I think the Broncos just I mean the Broncos didn't look sharp.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I remember it's almost a home game for them, right? The Broncos not that long ago had every Colts fan in America rooting for them Right, yeah, they still yeah. When Peyton went there, we love Peyton, we gotta root for the Broncos Right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the whole thing. I mean I can't believe they, the Broncos, are not gonna let Daniel Jones look that good Also, uh, also last year when Tua went out, they'd have no backup. They still don't have a backup Now. I forget who it is. It's the old Jets guy.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I know you're talking. I'm blanking on his name.

Speaker 1:

The guy. That was like dating somebody's mom from the team or whatever. What was?

Speaker 2:

that.

Speaker 1:

Right, yes, what was his name? Oh man. Anyway, that's their backup. That's who came in and scored the touchdown. Oh really, I cannot believe. I'm gonna try that. Wilson, zach Wilson, yes, yes, zach Wilson is the backup. How do you not get a better backup, zach, yours?

Speaker 2:

is the exact yours, quinn. Yours is the third stringer there. Ew, I didn't know that he couldn't even beat that Zach Wilson. That's bad.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so that's my Stay Frosty. Mike McDaniel, stay Frosty.

Speaker 2:

All right, I like that one.

Speaker 1:

Old man Yells at Cloud. I'm going to go. I'll go first. I'll just roll right into it. I got an Old man one. It's not sports related. I'm giving you two for the price of one here. They're tech related the Windows 11 update what an abysmal update. All right, matt, I got to ask you how long have you been using the computer? When did you start using the computer? Windows 98. Windows 95. You're wrong.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 1:

We at our house, growing up, mom got a Hewlett Packard 95. That's right we did and we had Windows 95 on it. Where was the start button? Where on the screen bottom left, bottom left corner? Yeah, it's not great. Why do they move it to the middle? I don't understand. I work, I work with some older people. Our parents are older. I don't need buttons moving around that have been there for 30 years. The start button's been in the bottom left corner, 30 plus years, and all of a sudden, without warning, the Windows 11 update, they move it to the middle.

Speaker 1:

Could you not figure out how to restart it? What do you mean? No, I know how to move it and restart it. I know how to shift it. I already did it in my work computer. I'm talking work, so work this week. But there were other people that didn't know how to move it. There were also other people that because you're at work you have multiple screens calendar thing on the time you can only do that on your primary window. Now I don't know why they switch that, but on secondary windows it won't bring up the little date calendar thing. That blew somebody's mind at work. I was like, oh, you're clicking on your second window. You can only do it on the first window and then, like I, I could tell the person was like what yeah, I don't like the update at all.

Speaker 2:

I just give me my old start menu pin to the left uh, rounded windows as well.

Speaker 1:

Why does everything have to be rounded? I don't know if you even notice that, but the if you don't have the window maximized, now the corners are rounded. It bothers me. The the aesthetics of it, the look of it bothers me. Oh, yeah, uh, yeah, yeah, see, you didn't even notice it. I noticed, I noticed the details. Yeah, uh, there's something with the taskbar too. I I can't remember now what the taskbar one was, but I just, it just drives me nuts, uh, and then ai yeah I gotta go in on ai here.

Speaker 1:

Ai, the great replacer of our jobs, or whatever. They took our jobs, they took our jams, uh, so I started to use ai here with the sportsbook sharps. Yeah, I great image. I fed in some of our locks and stuff to come up with ai images. Because I'm not a big art, clip art person. I can't, I'm not creative enough to like I know what I want, but like to sit there and do it in in clip art and all that and you know all these different programs. I don't, I don't have that skill. So I'm like, okay, everybody, I'm going to feed it into AI. Just, I'll just do two of the mishaps. But it took me way longer than I thought. So AI is the great job replacer, the great assister, whatever it's going to help speed up everybody's work, whatever One. We have eight people in the group I fed. Ai are eight locks.

Speaker 1:

I said I want them spelled out like this like Uncle John, this one, uncle Mike, this one, matt, andy, scott, etc. Right, yeah, couldn't spell Buccaneers, right, it kept saying Bucca bees, buccalay years, buckle this, buckle that, and I would type back to it Okay, everything is right except Buccaneers is not spelled that way. Oh, I noticed I spelled it wrong. I'll correct that. And then it would spit the same image out, or it would change the way it spelled it, or it would screw something else up. So then I'm like, okay, I can't okay. So then I'm like, okay, whatever, I thought I finally got it right. Then it started adding in extra ones and I and the prompts, I'm telling you I need eight lines with eight things, and, and it doubled Mike's, it put the Vikings in there twice.

Speaker 2:

Why it was a double bet. We should have doubled that. We should have doubled it. Ai knew. That's how good AI is. It's just a two-unit play.

Speaker 1:

It took like Ethan's and doubled it, but then also put Scott as Ethan's, so Scott was listed twice with two different locks. It was just screwing it up big, big time. I couldn't get it to work, so I ended up breaking it down and only giving it one assignment at a time and it could handle that, but that's just. I couldn't believe how much time it took me to do that, so I don't know if I'm going to do that every week. I don't have unlimited hours to feed the ai our locks, but I did think it was fun. I like some of the captions there's a lot with it.

Speaker 2:

It is still very new technology to start using. It did great on the frosty throne.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, darby darby gave me some suggestions for it and I I kept feeding it in. Now I will say I didn't realize this chat gt, jet chat, gpt only does so many images and then they want some money up front, yep so payer chat gp.

Speaker 2:

We've been using it for the remodel, so tara and I both are, so we're both subscribing to the monthly well, I didn't know that.

Speaker 1:

No, maybe I'll get your login.

Speaker 2:

Send it over.

Speaker 1:

I'll create the images for you cuz I got it and I wanted to tweak one thing with it and it's like, oh, come back in 24 hours and I'm like, nope, this is gonna work for me through we're helping it.

Speaker 2:

Look at some things to do to the house and we we're like, well, we're just going to pay. I'm not going to wait until tomorrow. We're trying to get this figured out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, all right, yeah, yeah. So that's just my two complaints with technology Cool.

Speaker 2:

I'll go with my old manuals. At cloud you alluded to it earlier Fanatics I place my bets and to open my account, they bought somebody at some point I can't remember we talked about a bet 365 or or something. So I couldn't get into my account and so I emailed them. They sent me hey, your login's this. I still can't get my account. It's been three weeks. I get no support. All I want is to talk to someone. I just want someone on the phone to say hey, matt, how you doing, let's walk through this and get it done. I need the tech support guy to get on the phone to say hey, matt, how you doing? Let's walk through this and get it done. I need the tech support guy to get on the phone and unlock my account and get me in there. So I'm three weeks into college football now without being able to access the account. I hear you talk about how they have the best odds or minus 110.

Speaker 1:

I love fanatics.

Speaker 2:

What happens is I'm like, okay, it's fine. I've been DraftKings, I've been fan dual, I'll just bet those. And as soon as I get the minus 115 or the minus 118, I'm like this is ridiculous, I can't bet this. I got to go do Fanatics and so it has been three weeks. I haven't actively been on there every day, right. But, I can't get any support and it drives me crazy.

Speaker 1:

And I just want to talk to somebody.

Speaker 2:

I had that problem with Bet ESstool. Yeah, so my account is completely locked they froze betty espn froze me out.

Speaker 1:

I was in the middle of the gambling season, I had been gambling with it and all of a sudden I went to log in and then I couldn't get them to give me my money back. I couldn't get a human to tell me why they locked it. They said they locked it for uh, I forget, like an unknown reason or whatever, and nobody could tell me why. They and they kept apologizing. That was the thing with the chat people. They were like, oh, we're sorry, we don't see why that got locked.

Speaker 2:

And then they they'd say they send it up, you unlock it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they'd say that, oh, I'm sending this ticket up or whatever, and now get rectified. No, it never got fixed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so that that is my old man yells at cloud. Sometimes it's just nice to talk to a human being and got an email or chat bot, as you alluded to. So we didn't plan that, but that tied in perfectly.

Speaker 1:

Oh my, I'm watching here. They're trying yet another field goal. They've missed three field goals in this Thursday night game.

Speaker 2:

Oh, there you go.

Speaker 1:

That was a 22-yard one and it was close to the upright, it wasn't right down the middle. Wow, this has been kind of a stinky Thursday night game, as we like, hey.

Speaker 2:

I'll take it though, because we've got the Packers, they're up 15. They're six minutes to go in the third, and I feel pretty good about that.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's talk some big college games. This week I got one of the biggest games Georgia, number six. Georgia at number 15, tennessee Tennessee three and a half point Underdog at home. Who you got here, matt?

Speaker 2:

Well, I know where you're going to go. I like Tennessee. I like Tennessee at home. I don't know that the SEC teams that have been the powerhouse of the SEC for the last 10 years are still as powerful as they once were. I think a lot of that talent is starting to bleed out of SEC country. I think Tennessee at home. I think a lot of that talent is starting to bleed out of SEC country. I think Tennessee at home. By getting the points, I think it's going to be a close game, so go and settle it with a field goal.

Speaker 1:

What's that coming down the track? Okay, Pat.

Speaker 2:

Pat McAfee loves to sing himself.

Speaker 1:

I love. I was on that before Pat Mac. I was watching College Game Day way before when he was still kicking and drinking and whatever. So no, tennessee always loses in this game. They never win the big big game. They upset in Alabama every now and then when Alabama's a little down, but you don't know the team's down. I don't think Georgia's great. I don't think they're a six, but I also think Tennessee doesn't win this game. I don't think Georgia's great. I don't think they're a six, but I also think Tennessee doesn't win this game. I don't think they cover either. I think you take Georgia minus three and a half all day If it were three, I'd feel different.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. I like the hook. I feel like it could be a field goal game. It's on the road, nope. We'll split the difference on that one.

Speaker 1:

Tennessee. I'll never forget. They thought they were going to come up and take over the horseshoe. Last year. Ohio State, all their fans. They got drilled by Ohio State Tennessee. I don't like Tennessee. I don't like them as a Purdue guy. Purdue and Tennessee, even though they're not in the same conference, we have a weird rivalry, interesting.

Speaker 2:

Oh, you didn't know that, I didn't know that, oh yeah, it goes back to Dalton Connect.

Speaker 1:

Even before that, when they beat them in the Music City Bowl or whatever, like seven years ago or something. It's been a whole thing. Yeah, oh yeah. The Purdue people online like to remind the Tennessee people that we own them and they show the Zach Eaddy block on Connect a lot and Tennessee people cry about how it was a foul and it just well, I mean it was easy, so it probably wasn't.

Speaker 2:

Oh, there it is. Whatever the big maple. Is that what you guys call him?

Speaker 1:

he was the big maple because he's from Canada. Yes, uh, number 18 USF at Miami minus 17 and a half. I like Miami this is Uncle John's lock.

Speaker 2:

I know I like Miami a lot. That is a Uncle John's lock. I know I like Miami a lot. That is a lot of points. That's a lot. That is a lot of points. So I actually like John's lock quite a bit. Sorry, john, I just jinxed it, but I do like your lock.

Speaker 1:

I like it. It's 17 and a half.

Speaker 2:

I liked it last week.

Speaker 1:

You're talking's lock. Yeah, you've got to get all over that USF line. Get them while they're hot. They're still riding that wave too. That's the other thing. After you beat Florida, you have all that momentum. You've got the confidence in you.

Speaker 2:

I'm a big momentum guy. Everything's such a fluke. So I was shocked that that was 17.5. Yep, yep.

Speaker 1:

That was shocking and Jimmy's not that good. I don't know. I think Carson Beck's pretty good. Number 16, texas A&M at number 8, notre Dame. Just to be clear, the wins for A&M this year UTSA, the Roadrunners and Utah State.

Speaker 2:

So I'm going to put Scott on the watch list here. This could ruin his over for the year if they lose this game.

Speaker 1:

Notre Dame.

Speaker 2:

Notre Dame. If Notre Dame gets beat in this game, his over is cooked for the year. He has them at 10.5. They've given them two losses. I don't think Notre Dame's as good as they were last year. If Notre Dame wins this game, they've got nothing left on their schedule. Their schedule's a bunch of cupcakes left. So then this is make or break for Scott on his lock of the year.

Speaker 1:

He's over right.

Speaker 2:

He's over 10 and a half, I believe was the lock, and so Notre Dame has two real football games all year and they're in the first three weeks of the season and just so we're clear, they're coming off a bye week.

Speaker 1:

Last week, yeah, I saw that Notre Dame has beat nobody because they haven't won a game yet this year.

Speaker 2:

I don't know if either of these teams are really I'm gonna sprinkle money line on them on a m yeah, on a m, I'm gonna do it plus six and a half. You could just take the plus six and a half. I might take six and a half. I probably sprinkle a little on the money line. Um, you know, but texas a m, I'm sure we've all seen their yell leaders, so let's get the yellow leaders ready to go. Oh boy, if uh I'm not a big.

Speaker 1:

If you haven't seen the all leaders, it's cringe fan. I'm not a big 12th fan If you haven't seen the All-Leaders it's cringe and it's fun. I'm not a big 12th fan. So you're taking Notre Dame. Oh, six and a half is a lot. I did not like the way Notre Dame looked on that first game. That Sunday night game that was terrible. Yeah, they didn't look great.

Speaker 2:

I had a bet there.

Speaker 1:

And so now that one stings a little bit, so I don't know if I'm ready to jump back on them.

Speaker 2:

So what's going to happen is Notre Dame can lose this game right Start Season 0-2. But they'll win the next 10 games, they're going to be in the playoffs and they're going to beat absolutely nobody.

Speaker 1:

That'll be disgusting.

Speaker 2:

They'll beat absolutely nobody on the way there and then they'll be in the playoffs because they're Notre Dame.

Speaker 1:

All right, yeah, I the half. So much I don't think I can get on Notre Dame either. This might be a stay-away game because I don't like either team.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm going to bet A&M just because I'm anti-Notre Dame, so hard.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes the smart money is the stay-away money when you don't like either team. That is true. So I can do that a lot in college and NFL, not as much. I always like to bet the NFL games.

Speaker 2:

Their next biggest game might be USC at home, I guess.

Speaker 1:

Not after USC loses when they travel east. This weekend I don't know if you heard that they haven't won a game in like 12 years when they have to travel to the eastern time zone. So Purdue is on upset alert, oh boy.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

I got the Boilermakers upsetting them. That's not my lock of the week, but I got the boiler makers winning beating usc straight up on that um? I just saw it.

Speaker 2:

Oh, it is 20 and a half, that's fine. Yikes, that's a big one. That's 330 kickoff, that's a hungry dogs run faster.

Speaker 1:

Home, home dog, hungry dog, dog run faster. They won the team last year. Yeah, they already beat last year's total. They won two games. They doubled, they're so much better they're about to triple.

Speaker 2:

About to triple, but yeah, at least they're playing the real game.

Speaker 1:

I use like a 48-point favorite over Indiana State Tell that USC band to keep their bum bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum bum. Keep that home.

Speaker 2:

All right, 3.30. We'll tune in.

Speaker 1:

They don't need any of that in West Lafayette this weekend. Just keep that crap at home. Huh, all right. Nfl. I was going to talk about the Thursday night game. This game appears to be over. It's 17-3 right now.

Speaker 2:

Oh, he said it, uh-oh, he said it, uh-oh he said it, we bet it.

Speaker 1:

He said it Green Bay minus 3.5. They're up 14. It's not looking good, oh he's down his bets already. I'm already writing off my second fantasy loss because I have Jaden Daniels and he does not look sharp tonight. Well, he might get some trash touchdown late. I hope so, because I need, we both like.

Speaker 2:

Denver here. Yes, I don't get the. That's got to be. Bet so hard on the Denver side.

Speaker 1:

I already bet it, Like I don't understand this at all. That was almost my lock of the week. Yeah, it was almost mine as well.

Speaker 2:

The only.

Speaker 1:

Thing that made me hesitate a little bit. Denver didn't look sharp the other day. Yeah, they didn't. Tennessee's not a good team, and they did not look sharp against Tennessee.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they are not a good team Started with a rookie quarterback.

Speaker 1:

Right yeah. The only reason I didn't bet this one is because I bet against the Colts last week and lost by about 30 on my lock, so I don't want to touch it as my lock. Yeah, that's a smart move. We already kind of talked about this. Philly at Kansas City. Kansas City point and a half underdog at home Super Bowl rematch here.

Speaker 2:

I like Kansas City in it. I don't think Philly looked very good in week one. I think Kansas City traveled across the country.

Speaker 1:

Blah, blah, blah whatever traveled across the continents, brazil is sneaky, far away further than you think they were there a long time.

Speaker 2:

They had all the media stuff they were doing prior now. Now the time zone.

Speaker 1:

It isn't that much different. I think they're in the same time zone, but the the time of travel it's almost the same as a flight to ireland, which doesn't sound right.

Speaker 2:

It doesn't seem right, but yeah, I'm gonna take that as a bounce back game for patty mahomes and the taylor swifties all right, yeah, I'm you there, I'm on Kansas City, I'll just take a money line.

Speaker 1:

I don't need to mess with a point and a half Like, just take them. And then we got a special. We're going to do double lady locks this week. We got Tampa Bay at Houston on Monday night, houston two and a half point favorite, and then the late night game. I think it kicks off at 10 or 10.30. Chargers at Vegas. Vegas three and a half point underdogs at home. Any thoughts on these games? Matt, tampa was my lock last week. I almost ran it back. I didn't think Houston looked that good.

Speaker 2:

I'm probably an outsider here. I don't love the double Monday nights. Oh, I love them.

Speaker 1:

I don't have kids, I can start watching football at seven.

Speaker 2:

The double, though, is just I don't have kids. I can start watching football at 7. The double, though, is just I don't know, I'd rather have them. I'm also a big footballs on Sunday guy, I don't love the Thursday. I don't like games to not be on the day Like the IU plays on the Friday. Saturday's college football day. Sunday is NFL football day. I don't really like the moving.

Speaker 2:

But it's like a little treat you only get it once or twice a year, I know, but I just and that could be my old man yells at cloud.

Speaker 1:

But I like, like you said.

Speaker 2:

I think there's only three games now and the 4 o'clock's late.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, 4 o'clock's not going to be that great, so I guess that's tough.

Speaker 2:

So I guess at 4 o'clock.

Speaker 1:

You got to go find something to do because there's only going to be Well the Broncos, so that keeps us busy. They usually play at that time slot and I'm happy the Cowboys play at 1. I don't love playing at 1, but I love playing, not when the Broncos are on, so I can actually watch both games. You get the big TV then yeah, the Cowboys will probably get the big TV at 1. I don't know, we'll see If it gets to be out of hand, maybe it'll get flipped off, but yeah.

Speaker 2:

So who do you have in the game, son? What do you mean? Are you taking the Texans?

Speaker 1:

Oh, I am taking Tampa Bay plus two and a half. I'm a Baker believer and I don't think Houston looks sharp. They lost their first game so I didn't like them at all in that game. This I waffled back and forth, I don't even know who to pick, but I wanted to make this my lock of the week, but I didn't. But I didn't even know who to pick, but I'm so sure of the one that I wanted to go with and let me. Okay, I'm going to go to the I'm writing charges now.

Speaker 2:

I think I would take the charge to win that game. I.

Speaker 1:

I think I. I think I did take the Chargers Yep, but I didn't end up making it my lock, but I did take the Chargers. Pete Carroll's sneaky yeah, that's true.

Speaker 2:

He is very sneaky.

Speaker 1:

They look better their first week than I thought. So I'm like confused now because I clearly thought it was going to be. If you looked at the AFC West, I clearly thought it was going to be Kansas City, denver Chargers in some order in the top three and very clearly Vegas fourth. But now I'm a little not so sure. Geno looked good. Pete and Geno get together. It's weird. It's weird. Pete's a very good coach, I agree with that.

Speaker 1:

So I don't know what to do with that. So, yeah, I picked the Chargers, but I didn't love it enough to make it my lock.

Speaker 2:

I like the Chargers as well. Man, I really wanted to go Vegas and just make that my lock and be like Just really waffle with it back Because I don't like you know my thing with Chargers and yeah. I know and Air.

Speaker 1:

Bear and all them. I, air bear and all them. I just there's this, like now, after week one, air bear looked great and now he's gonna look terrible against a bad team, a team that I didn't think was gonna be that good. I don't know, we'll see, so I stayed away. All right, we're gonna run the gambling group locks real quick that we have. We don't have many. We got greg. He gave us rams minus five and a half of the titans that's probably good.

Speaker 2:

Titans aren't good titan good. Five and a half feels like a lot but he's owned too greg's all right greg you're getting it this week, rams, I'm riding, I'm riding too let's do it minus five and a half.

Speaker 1:

The titans stink. They always stink, they. They're just dreadful. They're bad organization. I like it yeah uh, uncle john gave us usf plus 17 and a half against miami we already said that I like love John's breath there. Love it, uncle Mike, john, 2-0, by the way. So you got to ride. You got to ride the people that are 2-0, 3-0, 4-0.

Speaker 2:

You got to ride until they miss.

Speaker 1:

The podcast rule is we ride them until they miss. Yeah, even if we don't know if that's right, so yeah, and then uncle mike gave us bangles jaguars, over 49 and a half. I'll bribe with that, Mike is one and one. I think I'll bribe with that.

Speaker 2:

I would rather take the Bengals here minus three and a half, but we'll go over, I'll do that.

Speaker 1:

I would rather take neither. I am not riding with this. This is a stinky pick. The Bengals look terrible. They scored 17 points.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they got to get one more I don't like this at all.

Speaker 1:

It's in Duval. I love Jacksonville, plus three and a half. I always think.

Speaker 2:

Danville's hard because they don't let their guys play. They don't actually play in the preseason so it takes them a little bit to get warmed up. Game one get the jitters out, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I'm not a Bengals believer.

Speaker 2:

I'm not believing in the Bengals, so many points I don't like.

Speaker 1:

That's all we have. That's all the locks that we have. That's all we got. Yeah, I know yours, we got mine, we got yeah, yeah, yeah. So I can go ahead and I'll give mine here I am going to take in a bounce back game. I am taking lions minus six against the bears all the points that we pointed out earlier. Caleb williams he's spending too much time worrying. Did you see the angel reese thing? Oh, did you see the same nail style?

Speaker 2:

same Nope. Did you see the Angel Reese thing? I got the same nail stylist.

Speaker 1:

Same nail tech. It's called a nail tech. Sorry, I got that wrong. They have the same nail tech in Chicago. She gets her nails done in the same place. Caleb does Not that there's anything wrong with getting your nails done, but when you win like four games, you're a rookie here and you start the season to season 0 and 1, maybe a little less focus on your nails and a little more focus on where you need to throw that ball.

Speaker 2:

Everything you do as quarterback 1 and starting NFL team is going to get criticized if you don't win games. It doesn't matter what he does, If he's out at a bowling alley on a Tuesday and not studying film people are going to be all over him saying he should be studying film.

Speaker 1:

They should. They get paid the most, most, they should get the most scrutiny. When they win games, they get the most pats on the backs and accolades.

Speaker 2:

So that's true it comes with it.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, yeah no, I I think the bears stink. They're stinky organization. That team has no idea what they're doing. I see updates all the time. They're fighting with the city of chicago trying to move soldier field new soldier field here, new soldier field there like nobody. That whole organization is a mess.

Speaker 2:

Moving it outside of the city is a huge mistake. In my mind, it is a huge mistake, but they but.

Speaker 1:

But I heard that they're fighting with the city there. For the longest time they were fighting with that crazy mayor. They had lori lightfoot. She's gone now so maybe they can. Yeah, we won't get into her oh, I love her.

Speaker 2:

She was one of my all-time mayors.

Speaker 1:

Oh right, there, I yeah. If you don't know who she is, you need to just google some of her quotes there. This is a family-friendly podcast and some of her quotes aren't family friendly so we won't get into them. But oh man, she was funny. Crazy, but funny, all right. So lines minus six, that's my lock of the week all right, uh, so my lock of the week.

Speaker 2:

Alright. So my lock of the week we're going to go a game we haven't talked about yet. We kind of talked about Michigan. They lost their head coach, kind of fell off. My lock is going against the team that lost their head coach and I believe their program is going back to irrelevancy, like it was most of our childhood. I think I'm going to put them in the same bucket as Michigan. I see your look over here and you're like wait, who could that possibly be? Alabama? That is going to be Alabama. That's right. They have the Wisconsin Badgers, which Wisconsin has been great. But I don't have a lot of faith in Kalen DeBoer. It's not going well for him. They lost already.

Speaker 1:

I put him on the frosty throat. He was on the no, that was two weeks ago, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well, when they lost the opener. So Wisconsin's getting 21 points.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to take Wisconsin, is it at Alabama it?

Speaker 2:

is at Alabama, but I actually think that their culture right now is toxic down there.

Speaker 1:

Yes, when they're losing these games.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I actually think being a home game is detrimental. If Wisconsin can score quick and get up early, that whole fan base is going to start turning against them. They're already talking about his buyout at 70 million. The guy's only been there a year. It's absolutely insane. My lock is against them. It's really not even the two teams on the field, it's really the SEC versus the Big Ten and the Big Ten getting 21 points. I thought Wisconsin was going to be a lot better. When your guy from Cincinnati went there, luke Fickle, I thought they were going to be so much better. They haven't really done that.

Speaker 1:

I see my guy because I live in the Cincinnati area. Yeah, it's your guy. I'm not a UC guy, he's an Ohio guy.

Speaker 2:

He's an Ohio State.

Speaker 1:

I know he's a Cincinnati guy.

Speaker 2:

That's your guy, but yeah, so I'm going against Galen DeBoer. He, we're going to run him out of town. Yeah, he was much better out west in my old hometown, where nobody cared about college football. He could have lived at Washington for the next 30 years and nobody was going to.

Speaker 1:

Are you going to? Okay, so I got to ask this. So you've taken plus 21. Plus 21. Are you going to sprinkle the money line at all on this? I am going to Do. You think there's a world where Wisconsin wins this game? I am going to do a little bit of money line. I don't think that there's a great shot that they win, uh, but I do think if they get down early, that fan base is going to how hostile is that crowd going to be at halftime if they're tied or down?

Speaker 2:

oh, if they're down it's going to be brutal. I mean it will be unbearable. Just, I mean their fans have an unrealistic expectation. But it goes back to the michigan conversation we have, like people forget what they were before saving showed up.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I get that.

Speaker 2:

They were really good prior to us, even though college football was.

Speaker 1:

But like there, was something before we were born. Yeah, when bear bright was there in the 60s. You know they won early in the 90s man, we were born in the 80s, so yes, way before that.

Speaker 2:

Well, but they won in the 90s, right, but like most of the 90s and early 2000s, they didn't irrelevant they were.

Speaker 1:

They didn't matter, I wouldn't have known. They the their mascot. In the early 2000s. They were irrelevant, like you never. They were never on game day. Like I grew up, you know we were in high school, whatever watching game day on Saturdays and stuff. We never, they never talked about how they yeah, they weren't matter.

Speaker 2:

So that that's my lock. I I really waffled on this one, but his 21 points.

Speaker 1:

I like that.

Speaker 2:

Big 10 versus SEC. Big 10's a better conference, so I'm going to go there and Saban, I'm sure, will be on game day talking about how they're going to win, because you know he's a homer.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, he is a big homer. But I mean he has a right to be a homer Well and he's's not giving away a bunch of cars from his car dealerships. The man owned like 14 car dealerships in Alabama.

Speaker 2:

They probably only have 20 in all of Alabama.

Speaker 1:

Are you kidding me? And we saw the last two years.

Speaker 2:

So crooked Big Ten all the way on the titles and you know, once they can start paying people, like the SEC was for years, it started to really level out, and I mean the big time has blown by to be honest, I like that one.

Speaker 1:

I'll get on that with you. I don't know if I'll sprinkle the money line.

Speaker 2:

I'll do a little. I'm not a big Wisconsin believer. I've got probably one of those DraftKings promo where you get the risk free bet Risk free. Alright, they are plus $900.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's just begging for a little $10. One mean one of those $10 free bets, boom $90. Yeah, you get the money back if you miss it All right, no sweat bet.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, now, what I like to do on those is I like to take some of those long odds and if Wisconsin's up in the second half, you can always cash out too. That's always an option. Now, if you put the promo on, you can't, but I do like to do that. All right.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's going to do it for this week's episode. We still have dog picks coming on TikTok. Like I mentioned, Lady will give us two. We'll do two with the kids and Lady. They'll be very excited for Monday Night Football and then Sunday night, Stanley Pucci's picks will be back.

Speaker 2:

The kids are funny. The kids. Cora went to school the other day. I'm shocked that every kid in her class didn't watch the dog's pick on TikTok. That was funny, quite funny that was good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I told her. I tried to drill in her head. We went and picked her up together. I tried to drill in her head. Tell the kids and the teachers to follow the sportsbook sharps. It's at tss gambling. That's where you can find all your gambling needs on tiktok and get there.

Speaker 2:

Well, we will be in the principal's office talking about our daughter and her gambling habits. That's fine.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's what your job is as a parent, so enjoy those parent-teacher conferences, alright, anything else to say? No, I think that's it. Go Badgers, thanks for being on the podcast this week. Alright, good luck gambling everybody. We'll see you next time.
