Dweeberfluos Strikes Again: Why Russell Wilson Got Benched

Andy Reust Season 4 Episode 4

Send us a text

The brothers are back with a celebratory episode after achieving an incredible 7-1 gambling record as a group last week. The podcast kicks off with a triumphant recap of their nearly perfect betting slate, with only one over bet missing the mark in what turned out to be a defensive struggle.

The college football landscape has delivered some genuine surprises, none more shocking than Iowa's offensive transformation. After years of being the quintessential under bet, Iowa has suddenly erupted for 47 and 38 points in consecutive weeks, forcing the hosts to temporarily suspend their famous "anti-Iowa parlay" strategy. Meanwhile, Indiana's complete dismantling of ninth-ranked Illinois (63-10) has raised eyebrows nationwide, though the hosts note how quickly the narrative around Illinois shifted from legitimate contender to overrated pretender after just one loss.

A significant portion of the episode examines the NFL's most surprising storylines, including Russell Wilson's benching by the Giants after just three games. The brothers don't hold back in their assessment of the Giants as "one of the worst-run organizations in football," questioning the logic behind signing Wilson only to bench him for rookie Jackson Dart before the season has even found its rhythm. They also break down Oklahoma's controversial "fake substitution" play against Auburn that should have been flagged according to the rules.

The episode introduces a new "Coach Quotes" segment, using famous coaching soundbites to frame discussions about which teams are already cooked (the New York teams), which winning teams won't make the playoffs (Bengals without Burrow), and which teams need to "man up" (Chiefs and Texans). Their locks of the week include the Chiefs as home underdogs against Baltimore in what they describe as a "loser-leaves-town" matchup between two surprising 1-2 teams.

Whether you're looking for gambling insights, coaching hot seat analysis, or just brotherly banter about the current state of football, this episode delivers with both expertise and entertainment. Don't miss their passionate takes on Indiana's potential rise to national prominence and why Taylor Swift's "magic powers" guarantee the Chiefs won't fall to 1-3.

SPEAKER_03:

Hey everybody, today is Thursday, September 25th, and we are back with another episode of the Sportsbook Sharps. Got a special guest again this week. Took last week off. I was traveling for work, but we are back, and in the studio today, we have my brother Matt. Hey, still here living with us. This is his last week here with him and his family. So I thought we'd have a goodbye pod. Goodbye pod. Move out date. Moveout pod. So yeah, so we got a lot to get to, Matt. I think we had the greatest gambling week as a group we've ever had. I couldn't, I didn't look up the stats, but we what were the numbers last week? What did we do? Seven and one.

SPEAKER_02:

So uh the only one that missed was the over that we had from Uncle Mike. If I hadn't missed it, and it wasn't even close. They had three points in the first half. I didn't uh I followed up the previous week. I had parlayed the NFL games altogether, and I did it this week, and it was dead as soon as Mike's game kicked off.

SPEAKER_03:

That was the early game that was Packers, Browns, the final score 13 to 10. Yeah. And the over was around 40 something. Yeah, they come close.

SPEAKER_02:

I went and Mike says he always does the teaser, so I had it straight up plus a teaser, and even with the teaser, I didn't even get excited that I was gonna hit it. That's how bad it was.

SPEAKER_03:

It was it was brutal. But uh I am 4-0 on the season. Uh, you aim for the king, you best not miss, as Omar always said on the wire. Uh I'm on top and I look to reclaim my trophy. It's sitting, we're sitting in the kitchen here. That beautiful trophy up on the manual right there amongst all the fall decor. It's sitting there radiating right next to my wife's fantasy football trophy. Uh is anybody three and one? I know. I'm I'm I believe John is three and one. Where's we gotta go to the stats here?

SPEAKER_02:

I'm one and three, so I know I'm not in there yet. But I I've decided I've got my plan for the rest of the year on how I'm gonna come back and win.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, is that right? Well, first I'd have to miss one.

SPEAKER_02:

John is three and one.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I thought John, Uncle John's three and one.

SPEAKER_02:

And uh Ethan is also three and one. Okay.

SPEAKER_03:

He was Oh, I like Ethan's lock this week, too. So alright. Um, also, the last two weeks, I have not bet my anti-Iowa parlay of the week. Luckily, uh, because I don't know what happened all of a sudden with Iowa. They can score points, points, points, points, points. Uh, they fired their punter into the sun, and now all of a sudden they decided not to use him, and they're just gonna score. The last two weeks, not that I know. I'll get to that. Not so fast. We'll get to that. But the last two weeks, they've scored 47 and 38 points. Uh, usually they call that a season's worth of points in Iowa, but they scored that in just two games. So I am officially calling off the anti-Iowa parlay until further notice. Maybe IU can give me some hope this week, and I'll be back on it in the coming weeks.

SPEAKER_02:

The under's not going to be in play this week at all. No, I didn't think so. IU might make the over on their own against this Iowa team. I don't think Iowa's very good, but I know we'll get into that.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, I'll get into that. Uh, a little recap, Matt, I'll hand this one off to you. Uh, you can run with this one. College football, IU 63, Illinois 10.

SPEAKER_02:

Absolute beatdown. Kind of like I thought it would be, to be honest with you. I thought Illinois was overrated to start the season. They weren't. Number nine. They weren't as good as everybody said they were. I didn't understand it. That quarterback is extremely overrated. Everybody hyped up how great he was gonna be. Uh it was never even close. Like it all started. He got the block uh pump for a touchdown, and Coach Sig, like, he held receipts. Everybody said they didn't deserve to be in there last year because they got beat by Notre Dame, played the championship game, and got beat by Ohio State, won the championship. Those were the two games they lost last year, and everyone's like, see, told you they weren't any good, they don't belong. Uh so Coach Sig is gonna try to hang it on everybody he can. Uh he had a famous quote last year on game day. It's like he was talking about ranked teams, they come in, they just kind of you know beat their blank, and then everybody trolled him because he didn't actually have a win at the end of the year against the ranked team. Because if you remember correctly, Nebraska came in their top 25 team, they absolutely mopped the floor with them, they beat him by 40. So it's like, oh, they're not any good. Um, I don't know if you've kept on the internet, but apparently Owen Wise no good anymore. So they were ranked. I noticed that. I I you beat them by 50. They're like 23rd now or something. Well, everyone's like, nah, they're not very good. They shouldn't even be the top 25 team. Right.

SPEAKER_03:

They went from being number nine to they shouldn't even have been ranked. Why were they ranked? Yeah. It's just uh what always happens.

SPEAKER_02:

So it's uh, you know, Mendoza's now the leader for the Heisman. He's the he's the odds-on favorite. I did bet him I have him plus 5,500 to start the year. Disgusting. Um, yeah. IU Heisman football season. It just doesn't even sound like. And the schedule for the Hoosiers doesn't get difficult, which is great. Uh they've got a pretty soft schedule. No Ohio State this year? Uh no Ohio State this year. Um they do have Penn State and Oregon. And outside of that, they've got MSU, UCLA, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Purdue. And Wisconsin's terrible. Ew. UCLA's bad. MSU's main.

SPEAKER_03:

UCLA might be one of the worst college teams ever assembled.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, yeah. I mean, that I mean, well, we'll get to it, but I mean, they're they're losing players mid-season because the coach got fired, so they can transfer.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

It's embarrassing. Yeah. But overall, an awesome game. I was very excited.

SPEAKER_03:

All right. Well, that's enough uh pro IU talk on this podcast ball. Um Oklahoma 24, Auburn 17. I only have this on there. I I I could care less about either of these teams, really. The SEC football in general doesn't interest me uh in the last couple of years. Um, but I just wanted to bring it up. Did you see the play that I'm referring to? The whole reason I'm bringing it up. So it's gotten even more interesting. Auburn just uh put an official response out tonight about it, too. What had happened? The game, I believe, was tied at 17, and Oklahoma did this play where they ran a guy off to the sidelines. He looked like he was jogging off to the sidelines, and all of a sudden he stopped and lined up as the widest wide receiver. And apparently that's bad sport, it's the it's not just bad sportsmanship, it's deceptive, and it's an actual penalty in college that you can't fake like you're running to the sideline and then all of a sudden stop and line up and they hike it real quick and you're wide open.

SPEAKER_02:

I don't know how I feel about that.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, it's against the rules. What do you mean how you feel about it?

SPEAKER_02:

I don't know if it should be against the rules.

SPEAKER_03:

The announcers during the game called it out. Everybody but the officials saw it, and in fact, on the radio call, Bob Stoops, the former coach of Oklahoma, is actually on the radio and he came in back to the booth. He apparently stepped out for a minute and said, Oh, did they run the fake substitution play? So it's well known that they practiced this play, and uh Stoops knew about it and talked about how they came up with it and stuff, and then Auburn, oh, you got the official response from Auburn up here. Uh they're kind of whining a little bit, the Auburn people, but they're they're right. I mean, it shouldn't have been a play. It should have been flagged immediately.

SPEAKER_02:

I feel like it's fair. It's not fair though, it's in the rules. I I I hear you in the rules. I don't know why it's against the rules. Is is a fake kneel down against the rules? I know a quarterback in the NFL that did that one time and did a fake kneel down and then threw it.

SPEAKER_03:

It that I think don't they whistle it dead all of a sudden now in the NFL sometimes if they do the fake, unless they warn the ref ahead of time. Yeah, tell the ref ahead of time, hey, I'm gonna fake meal it and not kneel it. I I don't you're not allowed to like run to the sideline and then stop and then line up. That's the rule. I feel like it's part of a tricky. Cheaters, cheaters, pumpkin eaters.

SPEAKER_02:

It's okay.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't really like Auburn, so uh I don't like either team, but I just thought it was interesting, and it's gotten even more the response came out tonight from Auburn almost four or five days later. So yeah, they're still a little upset about it, huh? Uh and then a little update for you uh you had a stave frosty a couple weeks ago. You were right on, probably, with this. He has not been fired yet.

SPEAKER_02:

He's not been fired. I just don't see how they win many games left.

SPEAKER_03:

Like we didn't know. This is uh Billy Napier, yeah, Florida's head coach. They just lost 26-7 to Miami, the U.

SPEAKER_02:

If if we're being honest, it was closer than I thought it would be. Like I thought.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, they didn't score much, Miami.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I thought they'd beat him way worse than that, but it's it's not gonna be a good season for Florida. I randomly had some Florida guy in my mentions talking about the Boosers the other day. I'm like, you go away and worry about your team. You got nothing. Really on Twitter? Yeah, just why did he come at you? I don't know. Just like something about word poverty program or something like that. I'm like, you should worry about they got Texas, they got a buy and then they got Texas, they're gonna get absolutely mopped, even though Manning's not that great. And then they follow up and we kind of talk about Texas AM, Mississippi State, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida State.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, they're just we we talked about it. They just nothing. All right. Did you have any other college callouts you wanted from last week? No, no.

SPEAKER_02:

I don't have anything that sticks out.

SPEAKER_03:

Then we got to get to one of the biggest stories in the NFL, then. Danger Us. It's spicy. Is out. Be careful, folks. It's spicy. Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Giants for three games, has been benched for a rookie.

SPEAKER_02:

I I don't even know why you go and sign him when you're going. Like the team's in rebuilding, right? I don't get it. And they went and got that Jackson Dart. Like, I don't know why you even bother. You either you either have to let Russ play and just be terrible. Yes. Or you just say, hey, we're just gonna go with the rookie from the get-go. Like, we don't really want you to be here. It's the same thing that happened down in Atlanta.

SPEAKER_03:

This is this this is why, with the exception of the two years where Eli had a horseshoe shoved up his bum and they won the Super Bowl twice, the Giants are one of the worst run organizations in football. They they are so wildly inconsistent. They are very inconsistent. Them and the Jets, I don't know how New York got both of those teams, but ever since the Jets got rid of Rex Ryan, they've been on a downward spiral and never do anything right. And the same with the Giants. Bay Ball is not a very good coach. I put him up on Stay Frosty last year. I can't believe he's still there. They're 0-3 this year. He's gonna get fired this year. Yes. I don't need I'm not putting this isn't Stay Frosty. He's getting canned. They're gonna put Jackson Dart in. This week they play the Chargers.

SPEAKER_02:

But why does it save him though? Does that save him if they put Jackson Dart in just knowing the season's over? Like that lets them wave a red flag and say, hey, we're not good, we're building towards next year.

SPEAKER_03:

I have no idea. Yeah. I I don't know. I don't know what I don't get why you started Russell for three games and then pulled the plug. And I also don't know why you pull it this week when you have the Chargers. You're gonna lose the Chargers. They have an easy game in the week. Like, I don't understand this at all.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, I guess you put him in in a game, you're gonna lose anyway. It's not like Russ is gonna win that game for you.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, but he's a rookie. His first game he gets drilled. I mean, they're gonna lose like 42 to nothing.

SPEAKER_02:

They they seem to do that with everybody, though. All these rookies seem to start and just get drilled out.

SPEAKER_03:

That's true. Uh I don't have much more to say on that. He's been bad. Uh, you know, I was indifferent on him when he was toward the end of his time in Seattle. Uh they were always on at 425 here, so it was whatever. He would always be entertaining at least. His Bronco years were absolutely dreadful. As you know, Darby's family, Darby and her family, we have the Broncos on every week in this house. He was dreadful in Denver.

SPEAKER_02:

He's a weird guy. I mean, like, you would thought Seattle would have been really upset to lose a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and it seemed like when he left, people didn't care. No, so they were very happy. Yeah, I mean, it just kind of tells you what people thought of him.

SPEAKER_03:

Right, yeah. Uh just an overall recap of the games. Ton of wild innings last week. I took a screenshot of Sunday night football. Seven games were decided in the final two and a half minutes of regulation, and at that point there'd only been 14 games. So that's 50% of the games had been decided. Nine non-offensive touchdowns, the most in a week, uh, since week 12 of 2020. Yeah, we had COVID back then. Uh, and there were two games that had block kicks returned for a touchdown.

SPEAKER_02:

Not only did the two games have it, they're back to pack. Like it was on the TV, and then literally, like not even probably a minute later, the other one was blocked.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes. Yeah. And that leads us to my all-time bad beat. The Rams at Philly, Rams four and a half. I had that on my card. I bet it. Rams kick a field goal down one point as time expires. It's blocked. One of the Eagles linemen hit the uh the guy, the holder, uh, so he can recover it. And another enormous 350-pound plus lineman scoops up the ball and proceeds to sprint to the end zone. The fastest fat guy I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't believe it. Touchdown Eagles, they win by seven and cover. And they even said later, it was either on the Sunday night football or whatever, that was the fastest speed they've ever clocked in a game for someone over 350 pounds. 18.59 miles per hour. That man was trusting.

SPEAKER_02:

18.

SPEAKER_03:

What? 18.59. That's a big one. That big boy was running uh since they started tracking speeds in games in 2017. That's the record. For somebody over 350 pounds. His name was Jordan Davis. Wow. Yeah. What's really wild about that too is it was the second block field goal in the fourth quarter. And I was literally sitting there, I was like, oh, at least this one won't get blocked. Like he may miss it left or right, but or be short or whatever, but it's not going to get blocked. They just got the last kick blocked. Like you never see him block it two times in a row. Sean McVeigh's a good coach. Like, you think he's talking to his line. Like, whatever you do, hold somebody, whatever. You cannot get blocked again. No, they get blocked again.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's a terrible beat. Um, we were on the opposite side of that though, with John's. That was disgusting. Yeah, because it's because John's lock was the opposite side for us. They had that Western Kentucky game where where they did beyond side kick and they recovered and scored it. So you can't.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, so it balanced that out.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it balanced that.

SPEAKER_03:

But the problem is I didn't bet any college because I was busy on Saturday. So we went seven and one, but I didn't bet any of the college games. We missed out. I know. Uh, any more for the NFL?

SPEAKER_02:

Uh nothing from last week, no.

SPEAKER_03:

All right, stay frosty. Uh, let's just do real quick before we do them. There's a running list of coaches fired so far. College, we're up to three already. Deshaun Foster in year two at UCLA, Brent Pry, Virginia Tech, year four, and Mike Gundy. I'm a man. I'm 40.

SPEAKER_02:

That one shocks me. 22 years. He was there so long. You kind of just need to let him finish out a year and then go. Like, why why why make that change midseason for him? Second go out.

SPEAKER_03:

Second longest tenure in football bowl subdivision.

SPEAKER_02:

My favorite coach.

SPEAKER_03:

Kirk. Iowa's coach Kirk.

SPEAKER_02:

Iowa. Iowa's just known for mediocracy. That is, they just love it and they keep it.

SPEAKER_03:

We've talked about that before. I don't I don't understand why he's still at Iowa. Any other program he would have been fired. Kind of the same. I mean, the Mike Gundy thing, like you said, the timing's weird, but him getting fired isn't surprising. I think they won three games last year. Yeah, they haven't been good. They haven't been good for a minute. Ever since they uh moved uh or teams started moving around and stuff and the conferences realigned, he's really gone downhill. He hasn't adjusted to the whole NIL thing.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I'm I'm not shocked, I guess, he got fired with how he's been playing, but like, or well, the team's been playing. But 22 years, let the guy go out after that.

SPEAKER_03:

I can't believe they wouldn't just let him finish the season.

SPEAKER_02:

So he he's getting into his office packing the stuff and he's just out after all the yeah, that's terrible.

SPEAKER_03:

And then that's so three in college, but none in the NFL yet. So maybe after week four here, if if somebody starts 0-4, maybe some people make moves, but uh yeah, I don't yeah, I don't, I mean, there's a lot of NFL coaches that could be gone. Yeah, the carousel is always running in the NFL. So I'll go first. I got a stay frosty. Do you have a stay frosty? I do have a stay frosty. All right, I'll go first and then I'll let you uh pontificate here. I'm putting Raheem Morris, Atlanta Falcons head coach up. Probably one of the worst games I've seen in a long time last week. I think it made zero time on the five TVs in the basement. They lose to Carolina 30 to nothing. They were not prepared on offense, defense, or special teams. They just fired their kicker, Young Ho Ku, and blamed him for their week one loss to the Bucks. This is only the coach's second year in Atlanta. He served as the interim coach in 2020, and they decided to go another direction after those 11 games. Well, they got it right in 2020. They should have stuck with what they did in 2020. They never should have hired him back. He's a very mediocre coach. I don't know if you remember him in Tampa. He was there from 09 to 2011 before Tom Brady came into town. And that was kind of the post-Warren Sapp Tampa Bay team of the early 2000s, where they were just not very good at all. He only had three years there, and he has an overall record of 30 and 48 as a head coach. Um, it feels like this is a tipping point, though. They can't even get up to play a division rival, a division rival who was 0-2, by the way. Yeah, Carolina, not a good team. How are they going to compete in the upcoming games? This is what they got coming up. They host the commanders, they host the Bills. No chance. They're at San Francisco. They're probably looking at one and five. I don't see a lot of wins in the last 11 games. Uh, they could maybe win both New Orleans games and maybe get one or two of New England, Miami, and the Jets, and that might be it.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, and unfortunately, Penix didn't look good, so it's not like Penix is really. Oh, Pennox is so bad. Um, yeah, they're they're not looking great with that move.

SPEAKER_03:

Just a waste of his season, too. As bad as they are. Yeah. So yeah. Five five and twelve, I think, is their best scenario, and a wasted rookie season. So, Raheem Morris, you need to stay frosty.

SPEAKER_02:

All right, my Stay Frosty. Uh, we're gonna go to Wisconsin. I'm gonna put Luke Fickel on Stay Frosty. Um, he's kind of there because I'm mad at him on two weeks ago. Uh, if you guys remember, I had uh Wisconsin plus 21 at Alabama.

SPEAKER_03:

Alabama.

SPEAKER_02:

They got the ball back down 24 or two minutes ago, and they just laid on the ball and ran the clock out. He didn't even make an effort to try to get the game to be closer. That frustrated me. They looked awful against Maryland last week. Uh so they're two and two in the year. Their schedule's brutal. I to be honest with you, they might win one, maybe two more games the rest of the year. Like Wisconsin might end up four and eight to end the year. Yeah, they they their upcoming schedule, so they're a bye this week, so they can lick their wounds and recover after Maryland absolutely dominated them. They've got Michigan. So they're not Michigan. That's a loss. They play Iowa. They might be able to get that one. I don't know if Iowa's that great.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, but I don't know. Maybe not. I don't yeah. That might be when my under comes back. So that's a maybe those two hook up. That might be a nine to six game. So that's a maybe.

SPEAKER_02:

They've got OSU, Oregon, the Huskies, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota. So they would have to beat Iowa, Wisconsin, or uh sorry. They'd have to be Iowa, Washington, Minnesota. They'd have to win two of those three games to win four games.

SPEAKER_03:

No.

SPEAKER_02:

I don't I don't see him beating Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana. Maybe Illinois. I think they're frauds. So maybe that, but they're they're just not a good team.

SPEAKER_03:

So uh Luke Feckel, stay frosty. There you go. I like that one. That's yeah, that's probably true. How many years has he been there now? This is his third year. Third year, that's why.

SPEAKER_02:

Um so he coached their bowl game and he won. The first year he went seven and six, last year five and seven, and then this year, I mean, I think it's just gonna be terrible for him. Yeah, so maybe only three wins, yeah. That could be bad. Yeah. So I just don't see Wisconsin having the appetite to kind of keep him around. I'm shocked he's not working out. He was so good at Cincinnati, and it's just not working there. But that tends to happen when you have the smaller, smaller conferences. Not everybody's a coach sig and moves from the smaller conference and can just dominate the big boys. Well, Cincinnati in the Big 12, a small conference? Well, when he was there, they were conference USA, right? They're the American Atlanta Conference. Oh, the AAC. Okay. Yeah, that's true. They just moved three years ago. He won enough games that they decided to move him up a conference, so yeah, he was beaten up on nobody's.

SPEAKER_03:

All right. Well, stay frosty, Luke Fickle. Uh I had an old man yells at cloud, but I'm running an audible here. Yeah. I'm not doing this one that's on the paper here. Okay. I had a new one today, and it frustrates me, and I'm going back to technology. Okay, we got another technology. I gotta put my old man hat on. Okay, so as I complained about on a couple podcasts ago with the technology, the Windows update. Yes. We're now officially on at my company all the 365 Windows stuff. Whatever. I already went into a bunch of reasons I don't like it. I'm such an old man, 40 years old, oldest man ever with this stuff. I have a new one, and I discovered it by accident. Uh, my computer was doing a restart. I am notorious for not wanting to save to the to the Microsoft drive because nobody can ever figure out where the Microsoft drive is. I don't know where it stores the files, it's up in the cloud. The cloud is very nebulous to me. I have no idea where the freaking files are. So I do the thing. If I'm working on a shared file, okay, it's in it's in Teams, it's on the cloud thing, whatever. But with this new update, I often save things I'm working on locally, and then I'll load it up later because I'm an old man, I don't like that where it's stored, and it's just annoying to me. The way I use Teams to communicate, but then I also have to click in the sections to get into folders, and then they're not separate windows. So then if somebody pings me while I'm working in the thing, like it's a whole thing. I know you can open it up and expand it, but I'm talking about searching through the drive. So a lot of times, like I said, I save things on my thing. So I just went to Workday Rising last week. Shout out Workday, good company. Uh, and I was prepping all my notes earlier in this week, and I was doing it in a Word document, as I often do after this. I take a bunch of pictures, I email the pictures of myself, and then I put it all together in a giant Word document with all the things like set the agenda for the next year or whatever with the workday stuff that's coming. So I'm putting the document together, I get the auto update thing. I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll get to that. Like, I'm working on the document, working on the document. And then at one point I had saved a version of it very early on my desktop. Okay. And I've always had auto save on.

SPEAKER_00:

Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_03:

So the thing reboots or whatever, and it comes back up, and I'm trying to find the file, it's nowhere to be found. It didn't save it. I start clicking, I'm like, wait, and so in the top left corner, they have the autosave button. I click the autosave button and it says, Oh, we can turn autosave on as long as you're up in the cloud. I don't know when that started. I've been working in the business world since 2007. I got my first job and I've been saving Excel with autosave, uh, PowerPoint, all these documents with autosave locally on a hard drive, not in the cloud, because I was there before the cloud existed, and all of a sudden they've disabled that feature. If you don't save it up into the cloud, you cannot auto-save it now. There's no way around it. I I researched it, I spent a good 20 minutes Googling it and researching it because I cannot stand saving them to that share drive thing in the cloud. There's no way around it. They want everything to go to the cloud, they want the most cloud storage as possible, so that that doesn't shock me. I'm so frustrated. So I lost. I had put together from multiple notes because what you do in the workday, there's an app in the workday thing, and you type your notes up in it, and then you can email them to yourself. And I collected all those emails and put it into one document. I was almost done, and then the computer did the hour and a half reset on me. And I thought it would just save because I've always had autosave on.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

So now I guess I'm moving to the cloud because I can't do the cloud saves, but it's just so frustrating. I have no idea where those cloud files are. I'm so it's just so that's not what that is as well.

SPEAKER_02:

People will save things out there, and you just like display.

SPEAKER_03:

My old man yells at cloud is about a cloud. Yeah, well, it's literally a cloud. All right, Matt, what do you got for your old man?

SPEAKER_02:

Uh I got nothing this week. Old man yells at cloud, yeah. Um, I think I'll pass this week.

SPEAKER_03:

All right. All right, we're gonna do a little new section, new segment alert. Boop, boop, boop. Uh, we're calling this coach quotes. We're gonna throw some quotes out, Matt, and then I'm gonna ask you what team kind of fits us. So one of my favorite, we're gonna start with one of my favorites from Jim Mora, the Colts head coach at the time. Playoffs? What are you talking about? Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game. So, Matt, my question to you with that which team that's one and two or worse is done and won't make the playoffs? There's a lot of them. Oh, there's a lot. There's a lot. But which one is cooked? Like, there's no chance.

SPEAKER_02:

I I would say the well, I would say the Giants and the Jets. I would say we talked about it. I think those are definitely cooked. I had those marked. There's no shot that they recovered. Okay. Um, there's some really good teams that are one and two, though, but those would be the two. The the New York teams are done.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay. All right. That's what I thought too. I had that on my list, and then I switched by. I'm going with the Cowboys.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

One and two, they're done. CD's out. I don't know how long he's out. He's on my fantasy team. I had to scramble to find a receiver to replace him this week. He's out this week, or very doubtful. I didn't realize in the offseason they hired Matt Iberflus as their defensive coordinator. I don't know how that flew under the radar. Um, he's terrible.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Their defense is really bad.

SPEAKER_02:

That makes a lot of sense.

SPEAKER_03:

Russell Wilson's on the bench now, and they gave up like 40 points to the Giants a couple weeks ago. Yeah. Unbelievable. And that explains it all. I saw his dumb face on the sideline on Sunday when they were like, oh, this is not good. And I'm like, wait a minute, why is Matt Eberfloose standing there in a Cowboys thing? And then they put like the little cryon under him that said defensive coordinator, and the whole thing clicked. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how I missed that. He was terrible as the Bears coach.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, he was really bad.

SPEAKER_03:

They called him Dweeberfluos. I mean he was not well liked in Chicago. It's just unbelievable. Alright. And then I got another one here for you. So we're going Dennis Green. Uh, I believe this was when he was the Arizona Cardinals head coach. He said they are who we thought they are, and we let them off the hook. Uh which team is two and one or better, but won't make the playoffs? Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati.

SPEAKER_02:

They got no shot. I mean, Joe Burrow's out. They got no shot to make the I mean, they're two-and-one. Um and the Ezes have no shot.

SPEAKER_03:

All right. I like, yeah, I totally agree with you there. I was gonna pick them, but I did a little math here. I'm doing a little math on you here. Uh, and I agree with that one. Without Burrow for three months, that's true. There are 10 teams in the NFC right now that are two and one or better.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Six in the AFC. So just by math, I went with an AFC team, and they're playing right now. This is Thursday night. And I don't know why in my Pix League. I picked Arizona to cover here, but in my podcast notes, I have a thing here that says Arizona Cardinals 2-1. They are not going to make the playoffs. Is Marvin Harrison Jr. one of the biggest busts ever? He had two straight sub-50-yard games under 900 yards in last year, and he didn't get injured last year. He played 17 games as a rookie under 900 yards receiving. They are super disappointing, and they're getting absolutely drilled right now. What was it, 17 to 3?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe they just kicked the field goal, but yeah, it's it's not.

SPEAKER_03:

So they're soon to be 2-2. Uh just super disappointing team. I don't understand. Call of Duty's not even out yet, and Colin Murray's already turned out.

SPEAKER_02:

I know Marvin Harrison hasn't been great, and I mean he's been hyped, but they have a quarterback problem. So they did, yeah, they did. They kicked the field goal.

SPEAKER_03:

They just kicked the field goal at 17-6.

SPEAKER_02:

So um, yeah, I don't I don't think they're gonna be very good. If I look at that conference or that division, I think they're the weakest link in there.

SPEAKER_03:

Everybody in that division's two and one or better.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's that's a tough division.

SPEAKER_03:

That's a tough division. Yeah. That's he they may send three this year. I don't know. All right, we got, of course, we got to have Herm Edwards. You play to win the game. Uh, who's not playing to win the game right now in the NFL? Well, I mentioned them earlier, but I I the Giants. The Giants aren't playing to win.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh you don't think by switching quarterbacks they're trying to win? No, I think you put a rookie quarterback in there and say, our season's over, let's get them experienced and get ready to go for next year. All right. Like, I just think at that point.

SPEAKER_03:

See, I think they're trying, at least trying. If they weren't trying, they'd just keep Trott and Russ out there, I feel like.

SPEAKER_02:

No, I mean, I I feel like they they just gave up on the season and said we're gonna build towards next year. Let's let's go with the rookie quarterback and see what happens. So I I don't I don't think they're trying. Like I Philly's gonna win the division, Washington's gonna be second, Cowboys will be ahead of the Giants because they're terrible. So they're four places. Like they've seen them shot to win that division.

SPEAKER_03:

So uh that's all right. So you're saying they've already given up. I'm putting the Dolphins up, they're not trying to win. They've given up almost 100 points on defense, one of the highest in the NFL. Tyreek Hill's all but checked out, bad vibes all around. That Was such a bad signing by them. He does not fit with that team at all, that vibe, anything. They're done. They're looking to be rebooting and getting a new quarterback. Two is terrible. Two and on. Where are you?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. And I mean, that's your hot seat guy, right? You put him up last year. I did Mike McDaniels two weeks ago. Yeah, yeah. Mr. Capri pants himself on the hot seat. But yeah, they are not playing well out. They're terrible. So they're in a bad, they're in a bad conference, too, though. Like their division. Oh, they are. Yeah, I mean, Jets are bad. Buffalo's good. Jets are terrible. They're another team I'd put on there, maybe not trying so hard. Yeah. And then you got New England, which I don't think Drake May is very good.

SPEAKER_03:

No, that's a terrible division. The Bills might have that before you carve your Thanksgiving turkey. They may be well done.

SPEAKER_02:

A lot of those highly hyped rookie quarterbacks last year just aren't very good. Penix didn't look good. I don't think Drake May looks good. Caleb Williams looks terrible. So like, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, that was a bad draft class. All right. And then the last one for this segment, Mike Gundy, the recently fired Mike Gundy. I'm a man. I'm 40. What team needs to man up and play to its potential? There's a couple of them. When you actually look at who's one and two.

SPEAKER_02:

That's bad. It's bad. I mean, I'm gonna I'm gonna take the the easy route here, but I mean, like, the Chiefs keep it going. I wondered if you'd take that. That's the easy one, but I mean, there's a bunch. Like, they they just gotta play better.

SPEAKER_03:

I mean, we have an all-time game this week between the Chiefs and the Ravens, the battle of one and two.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

That are surprising one and two.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, now I will say they they opened up against the Chargers, and the Chargers looked really good. Yeah. And then they had the Eagles. But it doesn't get any easier for them this week. This is a make or break. Like, they got Baltimore this week. Yep. So that's another team that's one and two. So like it's loser-leave town on that one, maybe.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, I love it. A little loser-leaves town match. I'm going to put up an 0-3 team here. The Texans. Well, uh, 0-3. I mean, I I Darby and I did the the picks, the preseason thing. I think we both agreed the Texans were going to win that division. They're they're three games behind. The Colts are 3-0. They're 0-3. CJ Stroud looks absolutely bad. The biggest. He slid a little bit last year. So his rookie year, they went to the playoffs. They slid a little bit last year, but I thought he got injured a little bit. There were some problems. There were some receivers injured. So I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. Like third year in the league, you thought he'd go way up.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, he has not improved. Oh, he looks terrible. He's played really, really bad. He he has two touchdowns and three interceptions so far. In three games. Yeah, of 76. Like it's not that's really bad. It's not good. I mean, he did have a really good rookie year, but yeah, he's they gotta figure that one out. I don't know. Now their division's a little bit shocking. The Colts have shocked everybody. Now that was my anti-lock the week, the first week, I think, of the season, and they blew him out. Uh yeah. So they're they're playing well. Jacksonville's actually two and one.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, the Jags.

SPEAKER_02:

Tennessee's another one.

SPEAKER_03:

Tennessee's they're playing for the future. They're terrible. Tennessee's awful. All right, let's get to some of the college games. We're going to look at the week here. We're going to go college, then NFL, then get into our locks here, Matt. College. We'll run through them here. Number 21, USC at number 23. Question mark. Uh for that 23. Uh, Illinois. Illinois six and a half underdog at home.

SPEAKER_02:

Can we can we talk about how far they fell in one week after a beatdown? They were the number nine team in the country last week at home now. And they're they're almost a touchdown underdog to at home. To USC.

SPEAKER_03:

And they're playing this super early. This is a noon game.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, this is a noon. So it's 11.

SPEAKER_03:

The USC coach has already got tears in his eyes before he's even loaded onto the plane.

SPEAKER_02:

I I just saw it on uh at X. They were recommending maybe they find teams that are over on the Pacific side. They could make a Pacific conference.

SPEAKER_03:

Uh, yeah, they could get maybe 12 in the conference. Maybe 12 teams. Yeah, pack 12. That sounds a good ring to it.

SPEAKER_02:

And then they can all play in their own time zones over there. That would be fun.

SPEAKER_03:

They can even start games late at like 8 o'clock, 11 Eastern. It would probably never work, though. Yeah, it wouldn't. It doesn't sound like so.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay. But I am going to take USC. I think Illinois looked so bad last week that I just can't, I wouldn't feel about it on the code.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm with you here. I think USC, I think the over as well. Like, I yeah. I I don't think Illinois is very good. They're not gonna sniff the top 25 the rest of the year after this loss.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_03:

Um we got some SEC action here. Number four LSU at number 13, Ole Miss. And I I mean it's a top 25 matchup. We always talk about top 25. Ole Miss is a point and a half favorites, but did you see the whole Lane Kiffin thing? All right, Matt, I'll let you uh speak to this a little bit. Lane Kiffin, the head coach Ole Miss. Yeah, uh the the picture you showed. Very famous on social media.

SPEAKER_02:

She's got famous. She's dating an LSU player. Go ahead now, go. But they but they announced it the week that they're playing each other.

SPEAKER_03:

Lane Kiffin's daughter officially announced that they're boy that she's dating somebody that plays on LSU's team.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it's just a wild week to go public with that. Um that being said, I I do like Old Mess, minus one and a half here. Oh, really? I do. I don't like Old Miss at all.

SPEAKER_03:

I never like Old Miss. I don't I think Lane Kiffin's a fraud.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, okay, so you think Lane Kiffin's a fraud. So you think Brian Kelly's not? Ooh, fraud bowl. Yeah, there you go.

SPEAKER_03:

That's a good point.

SPEAKER_02:

Like, wait, I forgot. He doesn't win big games. So I was actually.

SPEAKER_03:

But he beat Notre Dame this year.

SPEAKER_02:

So now he's not a fraud. But is Notre Dame a fraud? Because they are they are don't forget, they already hit the under on the year.

SPEAKER_03:

That's a good you're putting me in a pretzel. Yeah, you got a lot of frauds. It's Oktoberfest. I'm in a big pretzel oompa. Oh no. That's a good point. Okay, this is gonna be my stay away bet of the week. There you go. I'm not betting this game at all because you're right. Now I just twisted myself. I don't know what to do. Yeah, there, I don't know. I don't like lane. I don't like oil LSU. Yeah, okay. All right, staying away. Stay away. All right. Stay away game of the week. Uh number one, Ohio's the Ohio State University. Sorry, I almost didn't say the Ohio State. Uh, at Washington, Washington plus eight, both teams are undefeated. Is this line? Is this a rat line? I don't the plus eight. Tell me something about Washington that I don't know. You're from there. Tell me about it. I'm not touching Washington plus eight.

SPEAKER_02:

That place is getting all of Ohio State fans. I was very flocked there.

SPEAKER_03:

So you agree, this is a rat line.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, yeah, there's no way out of it. This is this should be 12. It should be way more. You shouldn't be 60.

SPEAKER_03:

Traveling West has something to do with it, I'm sure. But I it's 3.30 kickoff, I think, or maybe even seven. Yeah, 7.30 anyway.

SPEAKER_02:

Ohio State doesn't absolutely stop them. Okay. I would be shocked. I'm with you. Uh Ohio State will flood that. They'll go out, check out the greatest tailgate experience in the country. Um, I already know Ohio State fans that are talking about going out to do sailgating.

SPEAKER_03:

So there you go.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

I that one was a puzzling line. That's why I wanted to put that in there. Also, Washington, a 3-0, but they must not beat anybody because they're not in the top 25.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they they haven't they had their Apple game uh against Washington State last week. They're not any good either.

SPEAKER_03:

So um we could talk about this later uh when we get to the lock. IU, Iowa. Yeah, we can talk about I think we'll talk about that in a little bit. But uh I didn't know when I put that in the notes here, so we'll skip that for now. Uh we got number six Oregon at number three Penn State. Now, this is actually the night game. This is the NBC night game.

SPEAKER_02:

Is it the night game? I thought it was the day game, and they're talking about still doing the the uh the whiteout. I thought I saw that. Oh no, it is the night game. I thought I saw that.

SPEAKER_03:

So then the the the OSU game must be 3 30, because then this one's at 7.30. It is 330, yes. Okay, so Oregon number six, Penn State number three, three and a half point favorite Penn State. What do you like about this one?

SPEAKER_02:

I'd take Oregon. I I think everybody thinks Penn State's a fraud every year, so um I think Oregon's look really good. I would I would take Oregon in this game.

SPEAKER_03:

I like Penn State here. Like Penn State at home with like that? Happy Valley, night game. I don't know. I I kind of like them. I I I don't know. So we differ on that one. Alright. Yeah, I think I three and a half's a lot, though. That means it's gotta be more than a field goal.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I think it's one of those games that comes down to a field goal at the end.

SPEAKER_03:

So you think Oregon covers it, yeah, by that. Alright. Um Alabama at number five, Georgia. Georgia minus three. Now listen up, I'm gonna go first on this one. Listen. I hope you're listening at home. I'm listening. I warned you about this weeks ago. I knew this would happen. Bama is not good, but they have a name brand, and they just beat up on University of Louisiana Monroe and Wisconsin. So now they're only a three-point dog to Georgia. This line is a joke. It's because they only beat Tennessee. This is Georgia only beat Tennessee by three in overtime, but it was at Tennessee. Come on, this Bama team is so bad. What's that coming down the track?

SPEAKER_02:

Uh gotta be the Bulldogs, man. You can gotta take them. Minus three. I think Alabama's really bad.

SPEAKER_03:

I almost made this my lock of the week.

SPEAKER_02:

That Bama's not gonna have a good year. You look at their schedule, they're coming off a bye. I don't know if that matters to you. No, not really. They got Georgia, Vandy, Missouri, Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma left on the schedule. So you got a grueling one. I don't know how good Vandy Mizu. Uh some of those I don't know how good they are.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, but I think Banama's pretty overrated. Agreed. Very overrated. Yeah. I cannot believe. So you're telling me that Illinois loses one game and they drop to 23, but Alabama is sitting there still at 17?

SPEAKER_02:

It's at Georgia, too.

SPEAKER_03:

It's at Georgia.

SPEAKER_02:

I don't I don't understand it.

SPEAKER_03:

The three points boggles my mind. I don't, I, I don't get it. Yeah. I will be betting. Any other college games you want to add to the card here?

SPEAKER_02:

No, I mean we'll we'll get to the other game a little bit later on. I mean, there's technically you got Arizona, Iowa State. I don't know if anybody cares, but those are both undefeated teams. Iowa State's 14.

SPEAKER_03:

I didn't care.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh minus six and a half for Iowa State. Uh, but that's the only other one that's worth mentioning. Um I don't think yeah, that that that would be heavy.

SPEAKER_03:

All right. Uh let's get to the NFL then, and we'll get then we'll get to the locks and wrap the show up here. Lots of heavy favorites. Only six games with a spread under four. Uh Thursday Night Football, that's one of them. Uh we don't have to talk about it. It's 17 to 6. Uh, looks like Seattle's gonna handle this one. It's in the fourth quarter now. So yeah, no need to belabor that one. So we'll skip. That was actually one of the close spreads. First international game, 9.30 a.m. Eastern, Minnesota, Pittsburgh in Ireland. First game ever for the NFL in Ireland. College has played there. First NFL game, Vikings. Two and a half point favorites. I'd take them all day. The Vikings? Vikings all day.

SPEAKER_02:

I I think this goes back to my comment earlier. If that draft class was super overhyped, I don't think J.J. McCarthy's any good. The Vikings got better when he got hurt. Like it's just, I mean, look at what they did without him. Carson Wentz? Yeah, I mean.

SPEAKER_03:

I've seen Carson Wentz, though. They just shredded Cincinnati for 48.

SPEAKER_02:

Not that Cincinnati's got a good thing.

SPEAKER_03:

Cincinnati's not very good on defense, though. And Steelers aren't good than the defense is sure.

SPEAKER_02:

They're a really good Atlanta team they put up six points against when JJ McCarthy was quarterback.

SPEAKER_03:

No, that's true.

SPEAKER_02:

Him going out, Wentz is a much better quarterback than him. They're loaded with weapons. I'm gonna bet the Vikings.

SPEAKER_03:

You think the Vikings cover two and a half? I think they see I picked the opposite in my picks. I think they more than cover. I picked the Steelers. I think Steelers win the two. You were the biggest Steelers fan of the game. I guess I'm yeah, I don't know. It's my dark horse, but I just I've seen this Carson Wentz thing before. He has a beautiful game, and everybody is on the Carson Wentz thing, and then he's gonna throw three picks this weekend in Ireland. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I mean, but they've just got so much talent in Minnesota. You just have to be a serviceable court.

SPEAKER_03:

He has red hair. Is he Irish?

SPEAKER_02:

Maybe is Wentz Irish? I don't know. Maybe he'll have the luck of the Irish on his side. I don't know. I mean, they they made Sam Darnold look good last year, right?

SPEAKER_03:

So I mean Sam Darnold's up 11 right now, Matt. What do you mean? He's on Thursday night. Yeah, I guess. All right. So we differ on that one, but that might be because I have my Steelers blinders on big time. We'll see. This will be an adjustment for me. If the Steelers don't cover this, then I'll need to revisit my dark horse because they don't look very good so far. They've they've eked out two wins, but they've it's been a struggle. Uh two 0-3 bowls. I just wanted to bring it up because they're both 0-3. Tennessee at Houston minus 7. Houston minus 7. That's a lot. Uh Monday night football. We get this on Monday night. Can we flex? Can we please? Please flex. Week four flex out. Can we flex? I mean, I hope my wife's not listening to this right now, but can we flex both games out on Monday night? Um Bonex doesn't look that good either.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh the you couldn't pay me to watch the Jets in my interest. Oh, I'm getting a stare down from my wife.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, and that's mostly because the Bengals, though. I the Bengals are gonna have their backup quarterback in, and he didn't look good at all. So that's gonna be a terrible game on Monday night.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, uh we missed the old man Young the cloud, but I would yell at that. Just don't give me two Monday night games. I don't like that.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, see, I love the two Monday night. I don't like that they're on top of each other. They are so the kickoffs are 7.15 and 8.15. That I don't like. I don't like it. I like give me 7, give me 9.30. 9-9-30. Sundays for football. No, no, no, no. I like Monday night football. Uh but yeah, so we got the Jets at Miami, both 0-3, minus 2.5 Miami. Do you even want to bet these games or are you just gonna be? I know, I don't want to bet either.

SPEAKER_02:

I don't want to watch those because if I bet it I had to be forced to watch it, and I want nothing to do with either of those two games.

SPEAKER_03:

All right, then we'll skip to the surprising bowl game here. The one and two bowl, Baltimore 1-2, Kansas City one and two, Kansas City plus two and a half. Uh, they're both one and two on the year. Gosh, get two and a half at home.

SPEAKER_02:

It's really hard to not want to take that. Um probably bet Kansas City here. Yeah. Just because they're at home. But I mean, they both gotta have a way. I mean, the Baltimore's gonna be seen. Like you said, this is a loser-leaves town match. One and three? One and three gets in.

SPEAKER_03:

Now, the one thing I will say if Baltimore goes one and three, I think they can still make the playoffs. Because that division's terrible. The Browns are terrible. The Bengals are two and one. Well, and the Bengals season's over. But the Bengals are over, right? So Pittsburgh. So Pittsburgh could could win that division, but like if they lose to the Vikings, then they're sitting there two and two. So one and three is only a game behind.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. It's it's a more win for Kansas City because the Chargers look really good. The Chargers look really good. They look good. Deborah will figure it out, I think. I know you're anti-Bonics. I'm not anti-Bonics. We're talking about all the rookies draft class from last year.

SPEAKER_03:

I just said listen, I just said out of the four starting quarterbacks in the NFL, those are the four you're giving us on Monday night. Like, that's not a great game. Those two games.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_03:

Tua, uh, oh, who's the the Jets now? It's uh uh uh Fields. Oh yeah, and then Bo Nicks, and then that Trevor or uh what's his name, the backup that was Joe Burrow's backup. That's terrible. I have no idea. I can't remember his name.

SPEAKER_02:

But he gets a lot of playing.

SPEAKER_03:

Jake Browning.

SPEAKER_02:

Jake Browning. It's a lot of playing time all the time.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. Alright, so that's what we think about that. Philly at Tampa. Tampa Bay both 3-0, both undefeated, Philly and Tampa. Tampa Bay home dogs, three and a half. Can't take Philly here, right? Absolutely not get out of here by the way. Philly scumbags, I don't like the city of Philly, I don't like Philly at all. I would never take them. No. Good.

SPEAKER_02:

But I I think that if you were to put the money out, that's where I would put the money.

SPEAKER_03:

Wow.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean they so just so we're clear on the 3-0 aspect of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they've beaten the Atlanta Falcons. Yeah. We've discussed.

SPEAKER_03:

Division rival.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh the 0-3 Houston Texans. Texans upstart Texans. And the 0-3 New York Jets. And they beat the Jets by two, they beat Houston by one, and they beat Atlanta by three. So they are 3-0.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay, let's play that, reverse that though, and play on the Philly team then. They beat a woeful Cowboys team. Barely, barely, at home when they got their championship rings, barely beat the Cowboys. They beat a really good Kansas City team. Okay. So the Rams. The Rams were a good team. Rams are good team. Yeah, Kansas City's a good team. They needed a blocked kick twice in the fourth quarter to beat them, just to be clear on that.

SPEAKER_02:

But they got it, but they needed it.

SPEAKER_03:

So I don't, I like Tampa here. I like Tampa money line. Sprinkle that money line. We'll get back to that one. That's somebody's lock. I didn't realize it was a lock until just now. Uh, all right, and then the last game we're going to talk to before we get to the locks. Micah Parsons game. Green Bay at Dallas, Dallas plus seven. I won't touch the Cowboys. The Cowboys, that they're borderline. Dead to me. Yeah. Dead. After we bet them last week against the Bears. The Bears are terrible. The Bears. And they made the Cowboys look like a college team. Yeah. Just dreadful. The Cowboys were never in it.

SPEAKER_02:

I might actually bet against the Cowboys in that one.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't know. Green Bay didn't look too good either. They struggled with Joe Flacco.

SPEAKER_02:

There's nothing better than a get-right game against the Cowboys.

SPEAKER_03:

No, that's fair.

SPEAKER_02:

All right. I mean, look at what the Bears did to him.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't even want to watch Sunday Night Football. All it's going to be is Micah Parsons, Micah Parsons. Jerry said they're not going to do a tribute video to him. Did you see that? Oh, that's fine. I wouldn't either. I don't know why's everybody.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, why I'll have a cup of coffee. Like, what are we doing? Yeah, but he was there for four years. Mike Gunny was there 22 years and they showed him the door mid-season. I see it Parsons.

SPEAKER_03:

Like, yeah, I don't get like the whole people were in a social media tizzy about that today when it when Jerry said it. And I'm like, why would they do that for a guy that forced his way out of there, forced to trade? Like, that is amazing. It's not like he left at the end of a season as a free agent. He forced his way out. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, part of that's on Jerry too, because Jerry doesn't know how to run a team. But uh, let's get to the locks here. We've got the first lockup I got from old Greg here, Chargers minus six. I love that bet. Who are they playing again? Remind me.

unknown:

Oh.

SPEAKER_02:

The season is over. Oh, that's right. Now it's at New York, so I'm sure that crowd will be really pumped up for their uh team dart. Yeah, I mean, it's that seems like an easy bet. That's it, Greg. I'm looking forward to better.

SPEAKER_03:

Greg had that one in fast.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, that's gonna be a good one to bet.

SPEAKER_03:

Yep. And then Ethan gave us Commanders minus two and a half. The Commanders are playing uh they're playing the Falcons out of the Falcons.

SPEAKER_02:

The Lions moved. It's down to minus one now.

SPEAKER_03:

Um I still inside baseball on this one. I have Jaden Daniels on my fantasy team. Yes. I also went and picked out uh Marcus Mariota. I don't understand everything I'm reading is acting like Marcus Mariota is probably gonna start and Jaden Daniels not gonna play. ESPN's fantasy, though, I have Marcus in and they're giving me zero points and acting like Jaden Daniels is playing. I'm like, what? He's going through practice, but they act like he's gonna be game time decision and probably not gonna play. So I don't know if this is like the coach trying to confuse people and not have people game plan or what. But uh I would rather Marcus move. I would rather Marcus play. If it if Jaden plays, I would rather take it.

SPEAKER_02:

That line's gonna move. It'll move to six. It'll have a really yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, I better get it now because I don't want it at six, and I definitely I don't even want it if Jaden Daniels planned. I don't want it at two and a half if Jaden Daniels planned. That one'll move. He looks stinky this year.

SPEAKER_02:

It's alright. Well, I mean, as long as he doesn't go the CJ Stroud route, I guess.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. Uh Uncle Mike's given us, he's done with the overs. Two weeks in a row, he was a part of the Overs Club. He's given us Oregon plus three and a half. We already talked about that game.

SPEAKER_02:

I didn't realize it was Mike's lock. I was, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I didn't like it, but uh, he also was the only one that missed last week, so maybe I'm on to something. Yeah, maybe. We'll see. We'll see. Probably just best to bet all the locks, and then the one person that doesn't get it right, we just, you know, that's one bet you lose.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I wish last week, instead of parlaying them, I wish it had bet them individually and actually gone seven and one. That would have been nice. So I might I might try that approach this week.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, I always do that. I never parlay at all.

SPEAKER_02:

I was swinging for the fence thinking about it.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, if you do that, you gotta put like a little five dollar parlay on all of them, and then you do like just ten or twenty ones.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, yeah, I need to do that. I've just been parlaying.

SPEAKER_03:

So uh Uncle John's giving us Arizona State. I forgot to look it up. I have no idea who they're playing. Not even not even close.

SPEAKER_02:

I I just had it pulled up and I went to look and see if the light could be. Uh I don't actually know who they play this week. Uh let's see. Oh, at TCU. Oh, TCU. He's got Arizona State. I don't like that one, John. I don't like that one. Who are they playing? TCU. Oh. I don't like that.

SPEAKER_03:

And it is at Arizona, but I He's only missed one all year, Uncle John.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, and I mean TCU hasn't really played anybody. They beat up on old Bill Belichick, but that doesn't know what counts.

SPEAKER_03:

That does not count. Why?

SPEAKER_02:

This is ridiculous. They had their bye week the second week of the season.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't get that.

SPEAKER_02:

I uh why? Some of the teams do that early. I don't that one I don't love. I will bet it, but I do not love it.

SPEAKER_03:

I'll bet it. Yeah, I don't. Yeah. I'll bet it. Alright, I'm gonna get to my lock here. We already talked about this game a little bit, so I don't have to belabor it. But I'm going to the one and two bowl in the NFL here. I'm giving you this is a gift. This is a gift. I'm 4-0. This is my gift to you. Chiefs plus two and a half. The Chiefs sprinkle the money line. The Chiefs are not losing this game. Taylor Swift will conjure her magic powers, whatever it takes. The Chiefs are not going one-and-three. They win this game. They're underdogs at home. Correct. Baltimore's not look great. Like, they've they've struggled in games. Derek Henry's fumbling it every week. Fumble Rooski. I'm the Chiefs.

SPEAKER_01:

We talked about that for sure about that.

SPEAKER_03:

Home dogs run faster.

SPEAKER_01:

That's a great thing.

SPEAKER_03:

You don't think Andy Reid has been woofing down cheeseburgers in front of the whole team all week, telling them how they're underdogs and they need to win and this and that. They're gonna do the thing where they give him the game ball because he's gonna rally them all and it's gonna be that cheeseburger in a box kind of thing. No, the Chiefs are winning this game. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Moneyline. I agree. I think that's a sprinkle money line. Yes. But I don't even know if you bother with the two and a half. You just take the money.

SPEAKER_03:

Just moneyline this guy. Yeah. I'm giving you a two and a half, but I love the money line. I'm betting the money line myself.

SPEAKER_02:

Yes. I like that one.

SPEAKER_03:

All right, Matt, what do you got first?

SPEAKER_02:

My luck. And uh for the third time this year, I'm betting the Hoosiers is my luck. Uh, I lost the first. Are you addicted? I'm addicted, and they are so underrated in my mind. They opened, and then this is this tells you what I text this line as soon as it got posted on Sunday. They were IU minus six and a half. Got bad news for you listeners at home. You're not getting that line anymore. You're not supposed to. It's eight and a half.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, because I had it written down at seven and a half, so it's not yet.

SPEAKER_02:

They're getting bet hard. Um boy. They they jumped a bunch last week too. Um, they're they're gonna continue to go up. I I think Iowa is not very good. I think IU is good. Um, I would say take IU minus the I would actually even take them at minus the eight and a half, if I'm being honest, but uh, I like being in the touchdown better. I would take the over as well. Like I know this is your anti-Iowa. I think No, no, I said I'm off of that. I know you're off it, but I the over is at 47 and a half. I think the IU could hang 47. I think the Hoosiers are gonna put up 40 out of them, so that that could be a 40 to 10 score. Um, I I don't see how they don't cover that.

SPEAKER_03:

So you think they scored 10 against IU? I don't know about that.

SPEAKER_02:

Maybe, maybe. I mean, uh yeah, I mean, it it could be some some late track.

SPEAKER_03:

IU wants blood this season. They they do.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh, Coach Siggs got the guys going. He he wants to come out and have a statement. People didn't want him in, and he's just gonna try to blow everybody out of place. They they've got this game, they go on bye week and they go to Oregon. So, like, this has got to be their statement game before they sit on the sidelines.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, and and speaking of the of teams and the how they move in the rankings and stuff, so they whoop up on number nine Illinois. They don't move up much. They destroyed, dismantled Illinois. Probably the most impressive win of the year, if I'm gonna be honest. Well, I don't know. Can you ever be honest about IU?

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I mean, to beat a top 10 team by 50 points.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, that's true.

SPEAKER_02:

Like, when I think that's like one of the largest losses for a uh top 10 team. Yeah, that's of all time. That was pretty bad. To to lose by 50. Is that what it was? 50? Yeah, I mean it's 63 to 10. Oh, geez. So, and it wasn't to be honest, IU could have put up 70 or 80 on them.

SPEAKER_03:

63 to 10.

SPEAKER_02:

They put in the backup in the fourth quarter.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, I didn't realize that. We were out and about Saturday night, so I didn't I just kept seeing the score as we walked around from we had a deck crawl Saturday night, and as we walked from house to house, I kept seeing the score, and I'm like, what?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they're it's that bad? They kept ringing the bell even with the backup in. So all right.

SPEAKER_03:

So you're giving IU, you said take them even an eight and a half.

SPEAKER_02:

I would even take him at eight and a half. So, yeah, I mean, like I said, Mendoa, he, you know, had five touchdowns. Jesus. Yeah. And and everybody everybody's kind of starting to come around and get on them now a little bit. So I don't love that as much. All the national media that ate it on us last year can go fly a kite. I don't want any of them cheering for us. Pat McAfee's the only one that picked them on game day. Everybody else can go kick rocks. Don't pick them this week. Just stay anti IU and keep Coach Sig happy.

SPEAKER_03:

There you go. So all right. Any other uh thoughts for the podcast this week?

SPEAKER_02:

No, I mean that's go Hoosiers. I think uh we could be we're off a week and then back to Oregon, but uh, I'm excited for that season.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, that'll be good. Uh what's what does Purdue got?

SPEAKER_02:

What do they got? Are you just over on the season already?

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, after that Notre Dame game, it's uh I don't know if you saw basketball practice started this week. Well, so coach Matt Painter was given press conferences this week, and uh Purdue is the number one favorite in college basketball, so I'm fully.

SPEAKER_02:

They are the favorite to win. Yes. Uh I saw something, and I would have to.

SPEAKER_03:

And the Cubs are also gonna make the playoffs, so I've officially shifted from football mode to baseball playoff mode and college basketball mode.

SPEAKER_02:

I I saw something now. I would like to know if this is true. I'm pretty sure it would that Braden Smith, they thought if he hit the NIL, he would get$8 million.

SPEAKER_03:

That seems excessive. That's what I I He's a good player, but that seems excessive. They're off this week. That's why I don't know who they play.

SPEAKER_02:

I I saw that and I'm like, that can't be true.

SPEAKER_03:

Eight million seems like a lot.

SPEAKER_02:

They act like he's making half out of Purdue.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't know. All I know, I've been pretty hyped over Purdue basketball the last like four or five years. Uh maybe, I mean, obviously longer, but like super hyped with Edie and everything the last four or five years. This is the most hype I've ever been. Like the transfers they've gotten, the the international player that they stole from over there, like I'm just so I can't even wait.

SPEAKER_02:

They're preseason number one.

SPEAKER_03:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

Ah boy, I did not realize.

SPEAKER_03:

They are the preseason number one team, and they're they're the I just keep seeing clips on social media of the practices and stuff. They did a thing, and I know we're in football season, but I gotta talk about it. They went through Navy SEAL's drills. They had a Navy SEAL come and make them like at five in the morning, huff giant logs up a hill both ways and do all this stuff, like team building, all this stuff. They they they are totally bought in.

SPEAKER_02:

All the players going on over there.

SPEAKER_03:

They're climbing the they're doing the mud, uh, you know, climbing underneath in the obstacle course, they're climbing giant walls, huffing giant logs up and down hills. I I'm so in on this season. I cannot wait for college basketball to start. And my football teams are terrible, so uh Notre Dame beat the tar out of Purdue. Uh so I don't even want to talk about that.

SPEAKER_02:

I think everybody there is probably.

SPEAKER_03:

And the Cowboys just look abysmal.

SPEAKER_02:

So, like Well, and then it is basketball time to start a little bit because we're starting to get weight loss, Jeremy's probably NBA players. So I don't know if you saw Zion, but he's he's as skinny as he's been, and uh he said it's the best he's felt since he was at Duke.

SPEAKER_03:

I I did see that, but we're almost a month away, so Purdue's first regular season game is on November 4th. Yeah. So we're like next week, it'll be a month away. So I'm so excited.
