Ministry Runway

Ministry Runway is designed to assist people in their final years of school through the beginning of full-time ministry. We want to help people transition from their education into their first years of ministry. We will talk with people who lead the hiring process as well as rookies in their first couple of years of ministry. We will also talk with students in their final year of school and veteran ministers with years of experience. We will explore their ideas and insights as to how new ministers can takeoff well and soar into the wild blue yonder of ministry. Dr. Ron Kastens

After serving in two local churches for nearly 30 years, Dr. Ron Kastens came to Milligan University in August 2018 to lead Milligan’s new Ministry Leadership Program. As a teacher, mentor, and coach, Ron's focus at Milligan is to help prepare men and women for ministry.

Ron graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Bible from Milligan in 1989. He went on to earn a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts. He is a certified Enneagram teacher and coach.

Ron and his wife, Stacey, have three children, Brennan, Dallas, and Marlee. They live in Johnson City, TN and are members at First Christian Church in Johnson City.

Special Interests: Enneagram and Spiritual Formation, Leadership Development, Preaching/Homiletics, and Pastoral Care.
