During Bible Study: Tested in the field:

David was out in the field because his father put him there. In this field is where he would train in case of danger.

Today the field is this world, we are placed where we are by our Heavenly Father.

He didn’t wait until something came against him to practice using his sling.

We believe he spent hours slinging different stones. He would know from his many hours which stone was best to use.

Today we are in a battle and even when the enemy is not in front of us we need to be training, studying and praying for GOD to help and guide us on this journey.

David fought a lion. While in the field watching the father’s sheep. A lion is a sneaky and sudden attacker. A lion wants to sneak in and grab the weak of the fold and run off with them.

Today the enemy will try to sneak into your life and in his sneaky and evil ways try to steal away someone from you. You will have to fight on your knees to beat him.

David fought a bear. While in the field watching the father’s sheep. A bear is a brutal attacker. Trying to overwhelm you, will charge and intimate with its size.

The enemy can also try to pile on things, to overwhelm you.

It might be a bill, then 3 more bills, or stress at work and adding stress from a family member, or anything that he can to pile things on. Brutal or Brut attacks from the bear.

We have to claim Jesus over these attacks. We know that we have never won a battle. Ever. It was and always will be Jesus who fights our battles.

Notice the difference in these attackers. They both wanted to harm the sheep. But they attacked in different ways.

David is the shepherd that is in charge of their safety.

GOD our Heavenly Father has put you were you are, you are part of his family that is to watch and protect the flock. We the church are the flock.

If the enemy, a lion or bear, was trying to destroy one of the flock you should be ready with a rock and sling, the Holy Word of GOD to strike down the threat.

Today we call the pastor of a congregation the shepherd. They are to care for the sheep. Not just preach to them but also help protect them from the enemy’s attacks.
