Mid-Week Reset: What Happens When God Changes You And The Room Doesn’t
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Ever felt the room change as you grow? We dive into the honest, sacred tension of being transformed by God while your environment lags behind. Mariana shares how conviction surfaced in everyday spaces—work, friendships, and routines—and why the shift from fitting in to representing Christ is less about making announcements and more about changing the atmosphere through integrity, consistency, and compassion.
We unpack the difference between rejection and divine repositioning, explore how Romans 12:2 reframes renewal, and use Galatians 1:10 to break the approval trap. You’ll hear a story about choosing a faith-forward posture at work and a challenge that asks: if your mouth were sealed, would your life still reveal Christ? From there, we walk through a practical personal rebrand framework—Think, Alignment, Tools, Action—so you can move from awareness to wise action without drama.
Expect tangible takeaways: three reflection questions to clarify where conversations and environments no longer align, simple boundary-setting that doesn’t burn bridges, response shifts that redirect gossip, and spiritual disciplines that make obedience feel like overflow. We close with five steps to quietly reposition your life for new relationships, opportunities, and assignments, plus a prayer for courage in seasons that feel unfamiliar. If you’re sensing holy discomfort and longing for purpose-driven leadership at home and at work, this reset offers language, scripture, and tools to walk it out.
If this message resonates, subscribe, share it with an amiga who needs encouragement, and take the Personal Rebrand Quiz linked in our show notes to discover your next step. Your growth isn’t rejection—it’s repositioning.

Noticing Holy Discomfort
SPEAKER_00Have you ever noticed something strange happens when God starts changing you? The same rooms you once felt comfortable in suddenly feel different. The conversations don't land the same. The things that once felt normal begin to feel misaligned. And it's not because you're trying to be different, it's because God is doing something inside of you. Today we're talking about what happens when God starts transforming you, but the environment around you hasn't changed yet. Because that tension, it's more common than you think. So go ahead and grab your cafecito, or maybe you're listening on your lunch break. Either way, settle in. Okay, amiga, let's talk. There comes a moment when growth calls you higher and you're trying to figure it out all by yourself. You're evolving, you're questioning, you're rebuilding. And maybe you're wondering, girl, I'm so glad you're here. Welcome to Extreme Rebrand, a Mommy on the Mission podcast. A space for women ready to heal, rebuild, and walk confidently in their God-given purpose. If you're ready for your next level, then I'm your girl. I'm Mariana, founder of Mommy on a Mission and creator of the Empower Her program. And I'm ready to meet you right where you are. So for your Daptecito, sit with me for a while. This is your Daptecito hour. Welcome back to Extreme Rebrand, a Mommy on a Mission podcast. And this is your midweek reset where faith meets leadership and we realign our mindset with where God is leading us today. So today we're talking about something many women quietly experience. What happens when God changes you, but your environment doesn't? Because growth with God is beautiful, but sometimes it can also feel lonely. So there was a season in my life when I realized something important. Although I had accepted the Lord long before my career began, I had not fully surrendered to him. My lifestyle still looked very similar to my old life. I went out dancing at the clubs, I drank with friends, I used language that didn't reflect who I was becoming. And let me clarify something. But what changed over time was how, where, and with whom I choose to spend my time. When I began my career in 2009, something started happening inside of me. It's like I felt this pull. On one side, I felt God calling me to live differently, to walk in obedience. But on the other side, I still wanted acceptance from people around me. And at that time, I hadn't fully healed yet. I was still struggling with approval and belonging. So I did what many of us do. I went to the happy hours, I entertained gossip, I laughed along with conversations that didn't sit right with me or with my spirit. And if I'm being honest, part of me felt like that high school girl again, you know, the one who just wanted to fit in. But there was a big difference between that high school girl and the woman I had become. The woman I had become was a wife, a mother, a grown woman with responsibilities. And that woman started feeling conviction. So when God started poking at my heart, he wasn't condemning me, but rather reminding me, reminding me that I didn't belong in certain environments the same way anymore. It wasn't about perfection, it was about alignment. And slowly, as I started changing, the environment around me started reacting. Oh, yeah, I could feel that tension. And it wasn't about perfection. Again, it was about alignment. Right? People looked at me differently. The happy hour invitations, those were stopping. Conversations would shift when I'd walk into the room. Some people labeled me the holier than thou girl. Like, how many of you have heard that? Like the minute you start talking about the Lord or you start sharing about your experience, and then all of a sudden, like, oh, there she goes. Think she's better than everybody. And one of the hardest parts, when I had trusted with my past, with the women I started trusting with my past started throwing it back in my face. You know, it's like you had this relationship with people, right? Who you thought were your friends or who you thought supported you no matter what journey you were on, right? And you share open things about yourself to them. And instead of saying, Wow, you know, I can really see you're changing for the good. No, it was always like, but yeah, remember that stuff that you used to tell me, remember when you told me you used to go to the clubs or remember, you know, whatever, right? And they start throwing it in your face. Have you ever experienced something similar? Where the moment you start setting boundaries or speaking differently, or maybe even just removing yourself from certain conversations, it's like people begin pulling away. Not because you judge them, but because your growth makes them uncomfortable. And suddenly you start wondering, did I do something wrong? Romans 12 2 explains it like this do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Transformation always creates tension. Because when your mind begins renewing, your behavior begins shifting, your tolerance changes, your conversations begin to change, your discernment begins to sharpen, and the spaces that once felt normal begin to feel misaligned. Not because you're better than anyone, but because God is refining you. This is where the shift happens. You move from follower mentality to leader mentality in Christ. You see, a follower mentality asks, What do I need to do to fit in? But a leader mentality, that mentality asks, how do I represent Christ in this environment? A leader in Christ doesn't dominate the room, she changes the atmosphere by how she lives. She chooses integrity over acceptance, conviction over comfort, obedience over approval. And sometimes that means the room won't feel the same around you anymore. But that difference isn't rejection, that's repositioning. I remember when I used to work for this organization. So when I transitioned from one organization to another, I really wanted to feel what does it look like to be able to incorporate my faith in the workplace? And so there was this organization. This is the first time I had ever worked in a, well, I don't want to say the first time, however, this was the first time that it was focused on our growth in Christ. And I remember sitting in as I was training, you know, you had to sit in the classroom just along with the other students in there. And I remember there was a question that was asked. It says, If your mouth was sealed shut, could anyone tell that there was something different about you? Like literally, you can't speak, you can't tell people that you believe in Jesus Christ. You can't, you know, you're not able to share. It's like they put tape on your mouth and you couldn't even talk, like they zipped it up, right? But could people tell that there was something different about you? And that is what I wanted to experience. I wanted to be able to experience that. I wanted people to know that I love the Lord and that I am a follower of Jesus Christ. And I don't have to shout it out. I want people to see that, I want people to receive that. And see, this is where the personal rebrand begins. Not a surface change, an identity shift. And every identity shift requires reflection, alignment, and action. So I want to walk you through something I use in my coaching. It's about thinking. So it's think, alignment, tools, and action. So we think about what we want to shift, then we incorporate or we realign ourselves. There's tools that we're going to use, and then we're going to take action. So we're going to begin with the thinking part. So three questions that I want you to reflect on. Okay. What environments or conversations no longer align with who God is calling me to become? Number two, where am I still participating in something simply because I want to be accepted? Number three, if I fully embrace the woman God is forming me into, what would I start doing differently today? Transformation happens through daily decisions. Okay. So I'll repeat the questions again. What environments or conversations no longer align with who God is calling me to become? Where am I still participating in something simply because I want to be accepted? And if I fully embrace the woman God is forming me into, what would I start doing differently today? So those are your questions. Now we move into alignment. So when God begins transforming you, your life must begin reflecting that transformation, not perfectly, but rather intentionally. Okay. So we're going to base this off of again Romans 12.2, which reminds us: do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Another scripture is Galatians 1:10, and it asks a powerful question. Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings or of God? And that question alone can change how you move through environments that feel misaligned. So now we're going to move into the action. And so five steps to begin repositioning yourselves are one, observe before reacting. Pay attention to where you feel tension. That tension may be discernment. Okay. Number two, start setting quiet boundaries. You don't need dramatic announcements. Sometimes growth looks like simple participating less. I'm sorry, it's it sometimes growth looks simply participating less. Okay. Number three, change your response patterns. Redirect conversations away from gossip or negativity. Your response shifts the atmosphere. Okay. Number four, strengthen your spiritual discipline. Spend time in the word. Spend time in prayer. A strong foundation makes obedience easier. And lastly, five, begin positioning yourself for new environments. As God changes you, He often repositions you. New relationships, new opportunities, new assignments, right? But repositioning begins when you stop forcing yourself to remain in spaces you've spiritually outgrown. And here's the rebrand truth, amiga. When God begins transforming you, the first thing that changes is your awareness. You begin noticing what you once tolerated. Conversations that felt normal now become to feel uncomfortable. Environments that once felt familiar start feeling misaligned. And many times we interpret that discomfort as rejection. But often it's at, but I can't even speak right now. But often it's actually repositioning, right? God is preparing you for a different way of showing up, a different level of leadership, a different assignment. Because the woman you were when you were surviving is not the woman God is forming now that you're healing. And not every environment will understand your growth. Okay, but that's okay because you weren't called to blend in, you were called to reflect Christ wherever God places you, even in the workplace, even in the workplace. So Amiga, I hope that today's conversation resonated with you. I hope that it gave you some uh ways to think about as you're changing, as you are transforming, as you are growing, as you are being repositioned. And I want to personally invite you to take the personal rebrand quiz because many women experience this exact tension when they are outgrowing who they used to be, but haven't fully stepped into who they are becoming. The quiz will help you identify where you are in your personal rebrand journey and what your next step should be. So you'll find the link in the show notes or in my bio if you're following me on Instagram. So let me go ahead and close this out in prayer. Okay. Father, thank you for transforming. Thank you for transformation you are doing inside of us. Give us the courage not to shrink back into old versions of ourselves just to maintain acceptance. Help us trust the process of refinement. Strengthen us to walk in obedience, even when the environment around us feels unfamiliar. And remind us that every season of growth is preparation for where you are leading us next. In Jesus' name. Amen. So remember, amiga, you're becoming the woman God already sees. I'll meet you right here next Wednesday for your midweek reset. Hey, if this midweek reset spoke to you, share it with another amiga who needs a reminder. And if you're ready to take the next step in your personal rebrand, explore the Empower Her options and take the personal rebrand quiz. You'll find everything linked in the show notes. This isn't about fixing you, it's about aligning you. Amiga, you're not behind, you're not late, you're becoming the woman God already sees. I'll meet you right here next Wednesday for your midweek reset.
