Ever look at your life and realize the problem isn’t that nothing is happening, it’s that you keep stepping in front of what God is doing? That’s the reset we’re having today, because waiting can feel like weakness, and control can feel like wisdom, but both can pull us out of alignment.

I take you into 1 Samuel 13 and the turning point for King Saul: clear instruction, rising pressure, and a decision that seemed “responsible” but wasn’t obedient. Saul didn’t lose the kingdom in a dramatic battle, he lost it in a moment of impatience. That story hits home when you’re evolving, rebuilding, and craving clarity in your faith journey. If you’ve been tempted to take the job, spend the money, or say yes to the assignment that looks right but doesn’t come with peace, you’ll hear yourself in this.

Then we get practical with a midweek reset you can actually use: pause before your next move, go back to the last thing God told you, check your motive by peace vs pressure, and release control even when it feels scary. We talk about spiritual discipline, obedience, and what “being still” really means when you’re a busy woman of faith trying to live on purpose. If you’ve felt stuck, misaligned, or unsure of your next step, you’ll leave with language, Scripture anchors, and a simple way to choose alignment again.

If this speaks to you, take the personal rebrand quiz and share this with an amiga who needs the reminder. Subscribe, leave a review, and tell me what you’re learning as you practice waiting well.

When You Become The Obstacle

SPEAKER_00

You ever sit back and realize it's not that nothing is working, it's that somehow you keep getting in your own way. Like God already gave you the instruction, the opportunity, the next step, but you keep stepping in front of it. Not because you don't love him, not because you're not called, but because waiting feels uncomfortable and control feels safer. Amiga, grab your capecito, your lunch, or whatever it is you're snacking on, because today we're going to talk about what happens when you become the obstacle. Okay, amiga, let's talk. There comes a moment when growth calls you higher and you're trying to figure it out all by yourself. You're evolving, you're questioning, you're rebuilding. And maybe you're wondering, what's that? Girl, I'm so glad you're here. Welcome to Extreme Rebrand, a Mommy on the Mission podcast, a space for women ready to heal, rebuild, and walk confidently in their God-given purpose. If you're ready for your next level, then I'm your girl. I'm Mariana, founder of Mommy on a Mission and creator of the Empower Her program. And I'm ready to meet you right where you are. So pour your Capecito. And sit with me for a while. This is your Capecito Hour. Hey amiga, welcome back to Extreme Rebrand, a Mommy on a Mission podcast. And this is your midweek reset. Your space to pause, reflect, and realign with who you're becoming and where God is leading you next. And today we are going to take a look at something most of us don't want to admit because sometimes the delay you're feeling isn't the enemy, it's the moment you stepped out of alignment. So I want to talk about King Saul for a moment here. So lately in Bible study, we've really been sitting with you know David and Saul, and of course, Samuel. Samuel anointed David to become king. But during that whole time, you know, Saul was chosen. He was anointed. He was appointed. He had everything he needed to lead. But in Samuel 1 or 1 Samuel 13, we see a moment that shifts everything. Saul was given clear instruction. Wait for Samuel. But Samuel didn't show up when Saul expected. Time had passed, the pressure was being built, and people started scattering. And instead of staying in position, Saul stepped in. He offered the sacrifice himself, something he was never instructed to do. And in that moment, he disobeyed God. Not because he didn't believe in God, but because he didn't trust him enough to wait. And so one thing I've noticed with working with clients is that no matter where they are in life, there's one thing they all have in common. They want to control the outcome. And if I'm being honest or if I'm being real, it's not just them, it's us, it's all of us, right? Because for so many of us, the waiting becomes the hardest part. We get impatient, we start questioning, we start feeling like nothing is happening. And before we even realize it, we're making decisions we later regret. I am no stranger to that. I have had the tendency on numerous times to just step in. I'll even admit, even with this business at the very beginning, you know, I was making all the decisions. I was thinking this is what needed to be done. This is that's what needs to be done, all of the things, right? And instead of just trusting God, and even in this moment, right now, as I'm talking to you, you know, I'm still waiting. I'm still waiting for God to do his thing, right? And so what I've learned to do is surrender, to surrender and wait patiently for God. And so we see this same pattern in King Saul. Saul didn't wait, right? Not because he didn't know what God said, but because waiting became uncomfortable. The pressure got to him, the timing didn't make sense to him. So he stepped in and he did what he thought needed to be done. And if truth be told, we do the same thing, right? When we start focusing on ourselves and leave God out of the equation, we'll see, we'll say things like, God left me, God didn't show up, God didn't come through, or God forgot about me, or I guess God doesn't think I'm ready. But in reality, it wasn't God who moved, it was us. We stepped out of alignment because we didn't want to wait. And I can say that with conviction because again, I've done it time and time again. There have been moments where I moved ahead, made the decision, and took control. Only to look back and realize if I had just waited one more day, one more month, or even one more year, heck, even one more minute, things would have probably unfolded exactly the way God had already instructed. And so I shared this with you about a couple of weeks ago, right? Where there were areas in my life where I was trying to make things happen based on what I thought made sense. So instead of slowing down and actually listening to God's direction, and isn't that just like us, right? We we rush, we jump, we move ahead of instruction. Like maybe for you it looked like taking a job you weren't fully led to take. Maybe it was, I don't know, spending money you knew you should have waited on. Or maybe it was saying yes to an assignment, a project, a commitment that looked right on the outside, but it didn't come from a place of peace. And so now you're carrying something you didn't have to carry in the first place. So let's sit here for a moment because this is where the shift happens. You don't get in your own way overnight, you get in your own way in moments of pressure, moments where waiting feels like delay, silence feels like abandonment, and uncertainty feels like something is wrong. So you move. And again, it's not because God told you to, but because your emotions did, and it feels productive. And I put feels in quotation marks, right? But it's actually misalignment because obedience doesn't always look like action, sometimes it looks like restraint. So, what do we do? What does it actually look like to get out of our own way? Because it's one thing to recognize it, it's another thing to move differently. So here's your midweek recent amia. Number one, pause before your next move. Not everything needs a reaction, some things need surrender. There are moments where the most spiritual thing you can do is nothing, not out of fear, but out of trust. Psalms 46, 10 reminds us be still and know that I am God. And stillness is not inactivity, again, it's alignment, it's being positioned. Maybe an opportunity came your way, and instead of immediately saying yes, you pause for a moment. Because not every open door is your assignment. Number two, go back to the last thing God told you. Alignment starts where obedience stopped. A lot of times we're asking God for new direction while ignoring the last instruction he gave us. Ecclesiastes chapter five, verses four and five reminds us to honor what we've already committed to. Maybe God told you to slow down, but you keep adding more, and now you're overwhelmed, not because God gave you too much, but because you move beyond what he instructed. Number three, check your motive. Is this decision coming from peace or pressure? So Colossians 3:15 says, Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. Because if there's no peace, that's your answer. So maybe you're about to make a decision, and all you feel is urgency and anxiety. Again, that's not alignment. God doesn't rush you into confusion. And number four, release control, and this this one is the hard one because control for many of us feels like safety, but control is often just fear dressed up as confidence, and Proverbs three, five, six, which is one of my favorite scriptures, it reminds us to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts. You're not responsible for the outcome, you're responsible for obedience. So maybe you're trying to plan every detail, but God is asking you to trust him with what you can't see yet. And here's the truth, Amiga. Saul didn't lose the kingdom in a battle, he lost it in a moment of impatience, a moment where he chose control over obedience. And if we're not careful, we'll delay what God has for us, not because he said no, but because we refuse to wait. If this episode is speaking to you today and you've been feeling stuck, misaligned, or unsure of your next step. I want to encourage you to take the personal rebrand quiz. It's going to help you identify exactly where you are and what needs to shift so you can move forward with clarity. And if this blessed you, share this episode with another amiga who needs this reminder. Because sometimes the breakthrough isn't doing more, it's getting back into alignment. So let's pray. Lord, thank you for loving us even in our impatience. Thank you for gently correcting us when we try to take control. Teach us to trust you fully, not just when it's easy, but when it requires us to wait. Give us the discipline to stay in position, the wisdom to follow your instruction, and the peace to release what was never ours to carry. We choose alignment, we choose obedience, and we choose you. In Jesus' name. Amen. Amiga, remember you're becoming the woman God already sees. And I'll meet you right here next Wednesday for your midweek reset. Hey, if this midweek reset spoke to you, share it with another amiga who needs a reminder. And if you're ready to take the next step in your personal rebrand, explore the Empower Her options and take the personal rebrand quiz. You'll find everything linked in the show notes. This isn't about fixing you, it's about aligning you. Amiga, you're not behind, you're not late, you're becoming the woman God already sees.
