From Big Pharma to Recovery - The Intersection of the Opioid Epidemic and the Criminal Legal System

Episode 5: Providing Treatment in the Criminal Legal System

ORN Season 1 Episode 6

In this episode titled "Providing Treatment in the Criminal Legal System," host we discuss MOUD (medications for opioid use disorder) programs in the criminal legal system with our panel of experts.

We'll explore how MOUD programs are perceived by people working in the prison, probation, and parole systems and the intersection of community treatment and community corrections.

This episode delves into how to change the narrative about people who use opioids and create a better understanding of MOUD programs in these settings. We also discuss the roles judges play in promoting and expanding MOUD programs and what can be done legislatively to increase the impact of these programs.

By focusing on MOUD programs in the criminal legal system and discussing ways to increase their impact, we hope to identify ways to improve outcomes for individuals with opioid use disorders.
