Purpose-Driven, Human-Centric Accounting and Business Finances with Keila Hill-Trawick
Show Notes

Call me crazy, but I find talking about accounting & finances to be really fun. My guest today is Keila Hill-Trawick, the founder of Little Fish Accounting, which works with very small businesses to thrive using a transparent, easy-to-understand approach to accounting. Not only do I think that she makes talking about accounting & finances approachable & informative, but it’s really obvious that she cares deeply about helping business owners & approaches her work from a place that is extraordinarily purposeful, intentional, & is about creating a human-first connection.

Quick overview of what we cover:

  • Keila’s perspective on boundaries within your business & how there are no work emergencies, just deadlines
  • Realities about hiring an accountant for your business & hiring before you are ready
  • Take a breath & read the letter, learning to not freak out about taxes is key
  • The importance of helping small businesses with accounting needs
  • Why bookkeeping is imperative to your business and taxes
  • What to remember when filing taxes & deciding to hire an accountant for your business
  • The difference between bookkeepers, CPAs, Accountants, & EAs

LET’S CONNECT:

CONNECT WITH KEILA:

Keila Hill-Trawick knows what it’s like to drop a steady job for a small business dream. Before starting Little Fish Accounting, Keila worked on accounting and auditing projects for various federal agencies. Today, Keila helps small businesses thrive through her transparent, easy-to-understand approach to accounting. In addition to her full-time work with Little Fish, Keila is co-founder of Accountants of Color, a safe space for Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) accountants to engage, grow, and build their firms. She also donates time and support to various charitable organizations, including service on the boards of Brown Girls Do, Inc, All-Options, and Tessera Arts Collective, as well as acting as a member of the MusiCares Health and Human Services Committee.
