Welcome And Mission Snapshot
SPEAKER_00Welcome to the Truman Charities Podcast. I am Jamie Truman, your host. If you don't know about Truman Charities, we are a 100% volunteer-based organization. We've been around since 2010 and we've raised $2.7 million for various charities. We do that by hosting three events per year. We have our Halloween event, our Derby party, and our family fun event. Our Derby
Derby Party Impact And Sarcoma Story
SPEAKER_00party was on May 2nd, and we raised $42,000 for the National Leo Myers Sarcoma Foundation. This year, we chose an organization that is very personal to my husband, one of his very good friends, Bruno, lost his wife Monica last year to Leo Myers sarcoma. When we asked Bruno what organization he would like our Derby party to benefit, he immediately said the National Leo Myers Sarcoma Foundation because they are also 100% volunteer-based. So every single dollar raised of that $42,000 will go directly to research and patient care. We want to thank everyone that came out to the Derby Party. Without you guys, it would not have been successful. We were able to raise the $42,000 several different ways, but mostly by our
Why Annual Sponsors Matter Most
SPEAKER_00annual sponsors. Without the annual sponsors, none of our events would be successful. So we really want to thank them. And some people have asked what the annual sponsorship entails. And let me tell you, it's a really great kind of win-win for everybody. And I go to a lot of charity events. And I actually think our sponsorship opportunity is the best. So it's $2,500 for the year. It's a $1,000 donation to our Halloween, $1,000 to our Derby, and $500 to our family fun event. What that entails for the Derby and the Halloween is you get eight guests to our event, 25 raffle tickets, and then you also are judged for best dress for Derby, and then best individual and group costume for a Halloween, which people really love. And we really think this is great for small business owners because those eight tickets can either be clients or it can be a thank you to your employees. There's just so many different ways that you can utilize those tickets for each of the events. And then also we have Bethesda's Best Happy Hour, which is not charitably inclined, but we do have a few of those per year. Then you also get eight guests to our Bethesda's Best Happy Hours. These are really fun happy hours where you meet other people in the community that are doing some great things. And then also, Jerry and I, once a year, we host a thank you for our annual sponsors and our event sponsors

Upcoming Family Fun And Halloween
SPEAKER_00Now, we have some upcoming events that I do not want you to miss. We have our family fun event. It's going to be September 13th from 2 to 5 p.m. Now, this is something that you can bring your kids or your grandkids to, but also it's for adults as well. We have Moon Bounce, Marazzi Pizza Truck, which is also one of our always our event sponsors. He brings his oven brick pizza to the event, most fabulous pizza I've ever had. Clayboys, and then for the adults, we have open bar, and then of course, we'll make sure to have the football games on the TVs as well. And then, of course, we always have our Halloween event at Tommy Joe's, and that's always the Saturday prior to Halloween. And we have great prizes for all of our events. Let me give you an example for our derby party that we just had May 2nd. Mary Dunmeyer from Dwell Custom Homes. She actually was the winner. She wore her derby hat that she wore to the actual derby. It was fantastic. You have to look at the pictures and the reel that I'll have on social media so you can see what she was wearing. And she won a three-day, two-night hard rock and AC with a $500 dinner credit and tickets to show. So our prizes are always really good. So make sure to go to Trumancharities.com, sign up for our newsletter so you don't miss any of our upcoming events or any of our, but that's just best happy hours. So again, thank everybody for coming for the Derby Party. It was an absolute blast. I had a great time with our horse races and our raffle items and our live auction. It was a really incredible night to see everybody come together to raise money for this very rare type of cancer. Follow Along And Support The Podcast
SPEAKER_00follow me on LinkedIn, Jamie Truman. And if you would like to help support this podcast, start it in 2021 so I could help market other nonprofits and talk to people in the community that are really doing some great things. And again, we make a donation to every nonprofit that we talk to. And if we're talking to someone that I think is doing some great things in the community, we ask them what nonprofit they're very close with, and we make a donation to that nonprofit. And we do that to spread awareness because we can only have three events per year. So that's our way of helping the community as much as we can. However, we are a hundred percent volunteer-based organization. So the best way to help this podcast is to share it with your friends and your family, but also to write a review. So go into your Spotify or your Apple app and write a short review. That's the best way for new people to learn about our podcast. So thanks again for tuning in to another episode of the Truman Charities podcast. Until next time.
