Michael

In October 1912, White males in Forsyth County, Georgia, took justice into their own hands after learning about the brutal raping and killing of a young white woman. After lynching the suspected perpetrator, all the Black citizens of the county, about 1098 people, were forced out of the borders.
Although Forsyth County is located above metro Atlanta, for much of the 20th century, it has been a predominately white county. Until recently, Black people were not welcomed as residents.
