In today's episode of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Podcast we get a chance to speak with Don Staniford.  Don is known as the "Kayak Vigilante" for his work exposing the cruel and environmentally damaging conditions in salmon farms at sea.  Don gives us an in depth look at how these farms are operated and the horrible conditions salmon are raised in.  Don also explains his legal battles with large salmon farm companies that are trying to block him from filming the salmon pens out in the open sea.

In today's episode of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Podcast, we have the pleasure to speak with Edwin Radzikowski of the CPWF Poland Chapter.  Edwin and Katarzyna Kozak produced a movie called Reiwa to document the capture and murder of dolphins in Taiji, Japan.  The movie also goes into great depth on the immense suffering dolphins endure as captives in dolphinariums around the world.  It is Edwin's hope that we can end dolphin captivity and close all dolphinariums in 25 years!  If you love dolphins, this movie is very important.  We all need to use our collective talents to put pressure on dolphinariums around the world to close. If you have friends or family considering spending money at a facility that enslaves dolphins, please share this movie with them, it will make them think twice about spending their money at a place that causes so much animal suffering.

In today's episode of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Podcast, we get the chance the speak with CPWF Chicago chapter leader, Joseph Maltese.  Joseph tells us all about a whale that most people don't know exists.  The Rice's Whale (Balaenoptera ricei)  was acknowledged as a distinct species of whale from the Bryde's whale in 2021. Joseph explains why these whales are endangered, and what needs to change in order to help them. Joseph and the CPWF Chicago team plan to launch a social media campaign to create more awareness about the plight of the Rice's whale. There are less than 50 of these whales left, and we need to do everything we can to protect them.

In today's episode of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Podcast, we cover a lot of ground.  Captain Watson talks about many topics including whaling in Iceland, Deep Sea Mining, the krill fishery in the Southern Ocean, and he reflects on his arrest last year in Greenland.  Captain Watson and the Foundation are very happy that the Fin whales around Iceland are not being hunted this year.  Paul reiterates that should the whalers change their minds, the CPWF will go back to Iceland to stop them.  Paul also looks to the future and the importance of stopping the Krill Fishery which is robbing penguins and whales of a food source vital to their survival.

Since July, Captain Paul Watson has been in prison in Nuuk, Greenland.  Arrested by Denmark at the request of Japan, Paul's fate resides in the hands of the Danish Minister of Justice, Peter Hummelgaard.  Japan is using all of its political might to coerce Denmark into extraditing Paul, where the Japanese intend to lock Paul up for the rest of his life.

We all need to raise our voices in order to put pressure on Peter Hummelgaard to FREE PAUL WATSON!

On July 21 2024, Captain Paul Watson was arrested by Danish police upon arrival in Nuuk, Greenland, onboard the M/Y John Paul DeJoria. Danish authorities claim that the arrest was made due to an international arrest warrant issued by Japan, related to his anti-whaling campaigns in the Antarctic more than a decade ago.

Paul faces the possibility of extradition to Japan, where he would serve a life sentence.

In today's episode of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation Podcast we have the pleasure of speaking with Rob Read from CPWF UK and Captain Paul Watson.  Rob and Paul talk about the urgent need to stop Kristján Loftsson from killing more endangered fin whales this year.  While Loftsson still needs to secure a permit from the Icelandic government to kill whales, Rob and Paul point out that Loftsson's immense wealth and political power often means that he gets what he wants.  Unfortunately the one thing Kristján Loftsson wants is to cruelly harpoon fin whales so he can sell the meat to Japan.  Fin whales are the second largest mammal on earth and are key contributors to our global ecosystems.  We need to save every fin whale we can! Rob and Paul also make the announcement of Operation Ice Storm - which is the CPWF's new campaign to make sure no fin whales are murdered.
