Watty, Scotty & Anth are Three sports mad Western Australians who are keen to profile West Aussie sportspeople, their lives and experiences in sport and outside of sport. We love hearing great human stories and we know that many others in our community do too. Sandgroper sports proudly focusses on Western Australians and takes the form of a casual discussion, where we discuss with our guests their lives in WA, what it's like being a WA athlete, what life is like outside of sport and what they think makes our state unique. Our podcasts are real life, authentic, conversations with our guests discussing how they got to where they are today, the ups and downs of their careers and what it means to be from WA.

WA CRICKETING LEGEND - MIKE VELETTA
Michael Veletta is renowned in Western Australian cricket circles as one of the finest opening batsmen our state has produced.
Born to an Italian family, and brought up on soccer, Mike broke the mould at an early age and took like a duck to water to cricket, soon showing talent as a batsman, fielder and wicket keeper.
He made his debut with the WA Sheffield Shield and One Day side at the young age of 19 with some of the great names of WA cricket such as Lillee and Marsh and progressed to representing Australia in both one day and test formats.
Mike tells us about the highs and lows of his career, what it takes to face some of the fastest bowlers in the world and the comraderies he formed with his team mates, that last to today.
He also shares his experiences in life outside of sport and his time on the WACA Board.
This is a great listen and one that you will enjoy right in the heart of cricket season.
