Watty, Scotty & Anth are Three sports mad Western Australians who are keen to profile West Aussie sportspeople, their lives and experiences in sport and outside of sport. We love hearing great human stories and we know that many others in our community do too. Sandgroper sports proudly focusses on Western Australians and takes the form of a casual discussion, where we discuss with our guests their lives in WA, what it's like being a WA athlete, what life is like outside of sport and what they think makes our state unique. In this episode we hear from a proud Sandgroper, Tim Gossage – who was a sports crazy kid who chased his dream to become a preeminent sports reporter, commentator and media personality.
Renowned for his work in print, radio and television,he spent over 30 years building the once fledgling Perth Channel Ten TV station into a leading source of sports reporting.
Who can forget his brainchild, the weekly Western Front Football show – complete with the iconic “W” hand gesture that kids, adults and sporting superstars embraced.
“Goss” as he is affectionately known by many,discusses some of the great sports and media characters and superstars, while sharing his experience of remarkable moments in sporting history.
He also delves into his love for the Subiaco Football Club and his joy in coaching their colts team.
Despite living under the glamour of the media spotlight, life hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Goss. He is brutally honest about the challenges he has faced and how he has reinvented himself after his shock departure from Channel Ten.
