A Prayer for the Year Ahead: May Yahweh’s Purposes Prevail
What happens when our plans collide with God’s purpose?
In this episode, Omar Calvillo of From Wrong to Strong Ministries shares the verse the Lord placed on his heart as a guiding word for 2026, Proverbs 19:21. “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”
Out of this Scripture comes a simple yet weighty prayer, “May Yahweh’s purposes prevail.” This is more than a phrase. It is a heart posture.
In this devotional, we explore the tension between planning and surrender, action and obedience, vision and trust. Scripture reminds us that while we are called to plan wisely and work faithfully, it is God who establishes our steps, builds the house, and brings lasting fruit.
If you are stepping into a new season, carrying big plans, or navigating uncertainty in leadership, ministry, family, or life, this message is meant to anchor your heart in peace and realign your focus on what truly lasts.
Let this year be marked not just by activity, but by obedience.
Not just by vision, but by surrender.
Not just by plans fulfilled, but by God’s purposes accomplished.

Hello family. This is Omar Calvillo with From Wrong to Strong Ministries, and today I wanna share the verse that the Lord placed on my heart as a guiding word for 2026. It's Proverbs 19:21, and it says,"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." Out of this verse came a simple but weighty prayer just for words,"May Yahweh's Purposes Prevail." This is not just a phrase. It is a hard posture and it is the prayer we want to carry into every area of our lives this year. The verse begins with honesty. Many are the plans in a person's heart. Scripture is not anti planning. God knows we plan for our families, our future, our work and our ministry. Planning is wise. Preparation matters. Action is necessary, but this verse reminds us that even good plans are still limited by human perspective. Then comes the turning point, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails. Plans belong to us. Purpose belongs to Yahweh, and what he purposes does not need perfect timing, unlimited resources or human approval to succeed. His purposes prevail. They stand, they endure. They outlast our best efforts and our biggest mistakes. This is why this prayer matters. When we say"May Yahweh's Purposes Prevail." We are not saying, LORD, cancel my plans. We are saying, LORD, refine them, redirect them, override them if necessary. That kind of prayer keeps us humble and anchored. Proverbs 16 verse nine reinforces this truth. In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps. Notice the balance. We plan the course. God establishes the steps. Our job is obedience. His job is outcome. That brings peace to every area of life. Peace in leadership. Peace in ministry, peace in family decisions, peace in seasons of uncertainty. And it also protects us from forcing doors that God never intended us to walk through. Psalm 127 verse one says, Unless the LORD builds the house, the builder's labor in vain. That verse is not a warning against building. It is a reminder about Who we are building with. When Yahweh's purposes prevail, our labor has meaning. Our effort has a direction. And even when plans change, we are not shaken because our trust was never in the plan. It was in the Lord. As we step into 2026, this is our prayer for ourselves and for From Wrong To Strong Ministries. LORD, we will plan, we will prepare, we will work hard and take action, but above every goal, every meeting, every outreach, every decision, and every step forward we pray."May Yahweh's Purposes Prevail." And today I want to invite you to make this your prayer as well for your family, for your future, your calling for every area where you are tempted to grip too tightly. Let this year be marked not just by activity, but by surrender, not just by vision, but by obedience, not just by plans fulfilled, but by God's purposes accomplished. As we walk forward together, may this simple prayer guide us daily, may Yahweh's purposes prevail. Thank you for listening. Stay encouraged, stay faithful, and keep trusting the One whose purposes never fail. My name is Omar Calvillo and through Jesus Christ, I've gone from darkness to light and from wrong to strong.
