Born Through the Word of Truth | James 1:18

In this week’s devotional, we unpack James 1:18 and the powerful contrast between what sin produces and what God produces.

Sin gives birth to death. We have seen it in broken families, regret, and spiritual emptiness. But God interrupts that cycle. Through the word of truth, the gospel of Jesus Christ, He gives new birth.

This is not behavior modification. It is transformation. When the Word is received by faith, the Holy Spirit brings life where there was once death.

If you have been born again, you are first fruits. Your life is evidence that God is still restoring what sin tried to destroy. And if you feel spiritually dead, the same Word can bring life to you today.

From Wrong To Strong is not a slogan. It is what happens when the Word of truth takes root in a heart.

Hello family. This is Omar Calvillo from Wrong to Strong Ministries with this week's devotional. Today I want to share a powerful verse out of James chapter one, verse 18. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created. That verse is loaded. In James chapter one. We see a contrast earlier in the chapter. James says that desire gives birth to sin and sin when it is fully grown, gives birth to death. That is the natural progression of the flesh. Sin produces death. But then in verse 18, we see something different. God produces life. He chose to give us birth. Salvation starts with God. It was his idea, his initiative, his mercy. Some of us know what it means to live in sin. We know what it produces. Broken families. Prison cells regret, shame, death in different forms. But James says, God interrupts that cycle. He gives birth to something new. How through the word of truth. The word of truth is the gospel, the message about Jesus Christ. Romans 10 17 says, faith comes by hearing the message. First Peter one twenty three says, we are born again through the living and enduring word of God. When the gospel is preached, something supernatural happens. The Holy Spirit takes that word, Plants it in a heart and brings life where there used to be spiritual death. Just like a seed carries life inside of it, the word carries life. When it is received By faith, a new man is born. A new woman is born, not improved, not slightly adjusted, born again, then James says, we are a kind of a first fruits of all he created in the Old Testament, first fruits were the first part of the harvest set apart for God. They were a sign that more was coming. That means when God saved someone, it is evidence that he is still restoring what sin destroyed. Every testimony of redemption is proof that God is still in the business of new creation. If you are listening to this and you have been born again, you are not an accident. You are first fruits. You belong to him. Your life is evidence of his power. And if you're listening and you feel spiritually dead, the same word that brought life to us can bring life to you. Receive the truth about Jesus. Believe it, trust him. The word still gives birth. Family. This is why we share testimonies. This is why we preach the gospel, because the word of truth still creates new life from wrong to strong. It's not a slogan. It is what happens when the word of truth takes root in a heart.
