Hello, brother and sisters. This is Cisco Terrazas coming to you from another from Wrong To Strong Weekly Devotional. Today I'd like to talk on baptism, burying the old and raising the new. And the importance of one, taking that bold step, wanting to get baptized in the name of Christ. Scripture tells us in Romans six to four that when we are baptized, we are baptized into Christ's death. Our old self, the person we once were in, sin, pride, and worldly desires is symbolically buried with him. Baptism represents the death of that old life, but the beautiful truth of the gospel does not stop at death. Justice Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father. We too are raised to walk in a new life. This means that baptism is not merely a religious ritual. It is a declaration that our life now belongs to Jesus. The old path of following the secular world no longer defines us through Christ. We are made new and we begin a life of obedience, transformation, and faith. Scripture also reminds us of the importance of this step. In Acts 2 38, Peter calls people to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. And Jesus himself commanded in Matthew 28 19 that his followers should go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit begins to convict our hearts, and we feel that deep calling to leave behind our old ways and follow Christ, baptism becomes a bold step of obedience. It is a public declaration that we have decided to turn away from the world and surrender our lives fully to Jesus. For many believers, that moment marks a turning point, a line drawn between who we were and who God is calling us to be. We go into the water symbolizing death to our old life, and we rise from it declaring that we now walk with Christ in a new life. So if the Holy Spirit is stirring your heart, do not ignore that call. Baptism is not about perfection. It is about surrender. It is the faithful step of someone who has decided that following Jesus is greater than following the world. Let me end this with a prayer. Lord, thank you for the new life we receive through Christ. Help us to walk boldly and obedience and to follow. Wherever you lead us, give us the courage to take the steps you call us to take, including baptism as we leave behind the old life and walk in the new life you have given us. In Jesus' name, amen. I am Cisco Terrazas, And I am from wrong to strong.
