56 Points Part Deux

Pookah & Red Season 2 Episode 16

Send us whatever is on your mind.

The guys are here to recap the epic story of USF's defense giving up 56 points for the second week in a row. If you missed this exciting thrilling join us to hear all about how it went down. Or was it downhill? Anyways we talk USF football like usual.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Hey, I'm looking through red. Where? Where the fuck is my intro? You have one job and that's to come up with all my material. Make me look good no fucking Jeff Scott nude pictures for you tonight. You hear me? Oh, it's it's carrying cord. Man. Everything sucks. Again, we got a lot of shittiness to recap, so this might be a long one.

Track 1:

No one likes reliving all the pain and trauma of a humbling loss more than this podcast.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Good news though. We re broke red and he won't be predicting any more victories.

Track 1:

That is correct.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

actually, if you listen closely, you might actually hear the moment his soul leaves his body. I think it's around minute 24.

Track 1:

Jokes on you. I'm a ginger and I don't have a soul, so that sound you hear might just be the plop of the turd that is U S F football falling into the proverbial toilet. Or maybe I've just started recording from my bathroom. Let's find out.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Let's find out. You wanna know? wherever we're recording. Nothing was shittier than Raymond James on Saturday.

Track 1:

Yeah, it was bad all around. It was bad all around. Tailgate was nice. Weather was nice.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Cool.

Track 1:

Inside the stadium, there's nothing nice.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

nothing to talk about. I mean, we're three and four.

Track 1:

yeah. That's still better than I thought.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

That's the only silver lining here. That's the only silver lining we're gonna come up with on this one.

Track 1:

You're especially defeated since this was your first inaccurate prediction of the season.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I am six and one now on my picks. Who? Who? And I'm not just doing an owl impression who had us losing to f A U. I was genuinely, as I'm sure most fans were genuinely upset on Saturday.

Track 1:

Yeah. There's a lot of overreactions. Lot of People pissed off. I get it. We don't think we deserve to be in the same conversation with F A U. We shouldn't be on the same football field. Don't think it's a rivalry, but guess what? They're in our fucking conference now and they're about just as talented as we are, so,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

not only that, they came out that were like, all right, you don't wanna take this seriously. We're gonna make this rivalry. I mean, my goodness. They were doing shit left and right. Two dudes get eject, ejected for targeting and like legit targeting.

Track 1:

Yep.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

there was that one hit on Byron Brown where I genuinely thought he was injured. I was worried'cause he just instantly stops moving in the turf. He takes a shot to the bank, just, oh my gosh. They were doing a whole bunch of stuff that it's like, what, who hurt you?

Track 1:

Yeah, they had a lot of, seemed like specially designed plays. Had the playbook ready to go. We're pulling everything out, weren't taking their foot off the pedal, certainly running up the score late fucking onside kick when the game's already decided,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

That they got, we, you just took talked last week about how hard it is to get an onside kick in college football now with all the rules and they got it.

Track 1:

I still don't understand how they got that. Our guy actually seemed ready for it and it just went through like his legs or something as he tried to catch it. I don't know,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I did. let me fill you in on how they got that.'cause they were playing us, were playing U S F. That's

Track 1:

you try things against U S F and they work. That's

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

They work. Yeah. it's like a glorified scrimmage at this point.

Track 1:

Oh man. But yeah, I don't, I think we're, a lot of people wanna take their shot at U S F and we look like People just off name recognition, think we're like the giant of this conference. Unfortunately we haven't played like that since being in this conference. And so it's easy to just take your shot at us and get your points against us. And it feels like you're scoring huge, right? And you're gonna use it in the recruiting game and all that kind of stuff. But, If we're really not the big kid that you're taking down that you think we are at least not right now. We're not in the future. We wanna be back to that, but we're not right now whether the fans want us and think we shouldn't be having this type of game. But the fact is we're not some team that's light years ahead of F A U. This is some unexplainable loss. Like they're essentially same team as us on the field talent wise.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

but I mean, We'll talk about this, but I just don't understand how you go from a defense that held Alabama to what you held Alabama to, and then you give up 600 yards, two weeks in a row, like it's nuts. To me, it doesn't make any sense, and I think that's where people justifiably are hitting the panic button because in their minds nothing changed except the opponent who got. Worse in terms of talent right? the opponents are worse than Bama, theoretically. but

Track 1:

You got a point. There's I'm very upset. I'm not trying to

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

clearly.

Track 1:

was a good performance that we were, we're right there or something, but, and we'll go through what the problems are. Step by step, but to say that this is the worst loss ever in those types of things, like this is a conference loss. This isn't some, no, nobody team, like they're, it counts just as much as the ones we won against Rice and Navy and loss against U A B and it's one loss two now, I guess in conference. But they count just as much as any other conference loss off. You know, we're two and two in conference. We're not oh and four, so let's not

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

yeah,

Track 1:

just yet.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I got the panic button ready to go. It's right here. I have it ready to rock.

Track 1:

Yeah. And good news, you know, this was a pretty well attended game. Much better than Rice. number one attended G five game across the country. 35,000 announced attendance, so that's good.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I

Track 1:

fans are ready to, the fans are ready to be there if we can get the product rolling.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

If we can get the wind, how do we know it's not just that Wester dude's family

Track 1:

I mean, if you're gonna, if you know you're gonna play like that, I'd invite my whole family up.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Damn right. I had people I ain't talked to since elementary school. You wanna come watch a football game? speaking of elementary school and years gone by, let's start with the uniforms. Hotter, not baby. Let's talk about it.'cause it was retro.

Track 1:

Yeah. The retro bull looked nice on the helmet, right.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I did like that. Too bad. We played like shit, But I did like that

Track 1:

then now it'll disappear forever.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. We'll never see it again. But it, I liked how it was even on the coaches,

Track 1:

oh yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

the coaches' polos and everything. yeah. the sideline gear was, it was on all that stuff. That was pretty cool. Nice touch. The details are where it's at, but now we have to burn the gold pants. We can't ever wear them again.

Track 1:

Look man. Stick with what works. We beat rice at home in the green pants. We beat FAMU at home in the green pants.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Let's stick with

Track 1:

on green. green. on Green

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I like it. I don't know why we're changing things at work. That's what I'm talking about. Let's stop changing things at work. It works. Gosh,

Track 1:

Speaking of things, changing things that worked red picked for us for to win this week?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

yeah. You cursed us.

Track 1:

I

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

That was all you. yeah. Nice job buddy.

Track 1:

Well, that's why we can't have nice things. Look, I don't think my prediction really means much'cause we've, I've been getting it wrong for years now. So.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah, I was actually thinking about this earlier, like I hope people don't listen to this and expect some sort of like real analysis or something that means anything because I think we've been wrong more often than we've been Right. We're basically just

Track 1:

proves our point though, because we're fairly knowledgeable people

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Uhhuh

Track 1:

and like fans have all these takes from across the spectrum and they're even dumber than we are and. That just goes to show you, like when you ask coaches these questions and medias try to make these storylines outta different things. It's just completely out of fucking left field. Like 90% of what fans and media think are storylines of the game or try to break down what plays happened or sequencing or stuff like that is completely wrong,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

nobody knows what they're talking about.

Track 1:

right?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Nobody knows what they're talking about. And it just,

Track 1:

we're still gonna do our job anyways, so,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

we're still doing it anyway. So what did I mean, you picked us to win. I picked us to win. So not much different there. Let's, we predicted what did we wanna see? Did we see anything from the offense that we wanted to see? Nope.

Track 1:

No Siry.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

No.

Track 1:

one thing I really didn't like on offense is we almost kind of took the game outta Byron Brown's hands.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

How so?

Track 1:

we tried to go to a lot of, I. Quick screens, the running game. Like he was just like, he didn't play that poorly. He missed one deep pass. I can remember that was open and maybe like one other short one to make one, right? He overthrew. But like besides that, he didn't have the interceptions. He didn't have the fumbles this week. He didn't lose us the game this week.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Sure.

Track 1:

you know, his feet kept us alive and. Some key situations. He took some shots, obviously with those targetings

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Oh my gosh.

Track 1:

are some of our biggest, conversions with those penalties and things. But he didn't really get the opportunity to go out there and make plays and win us the game, right? Like we were three and out in situations of, oh, hey, a quick screen that got knocked down, or we got it to the wide receiver and he ran around and got tackled for a loss and those types of things. Like

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

All that running.

Track 1:

development, nothing like that.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah.

Track 1:

And a lot of that too was we were off the field. I mean we were, we had no early down success, so we were in third and longs and that set us up to go three for 15 on third down.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

You don't win a football game doing that. What's interesting to me is like we only had 15 third downs, right? Like we barely hit the ball. We barely had any

Track 1:

Fifteen's a big number, man.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

but not for us. Not for us.

Track 1:

Right. I guess with the number of plays

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. Not for, I mean, we keep hearing each week about all the plays that U S F runs, like we can run so many. we didn't have the ball. We kept giving it back to pork chop in the game.

Track 1:

And a lot of that was fucking confidence, right? I mean, wide receiver drops all over the place. We had Quan Wright, even though he went for a hundred in the first half, then he opened up the second half. He's tripping over his own feet in the backfield like.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah, I don't understand. Like I don't be, it just doesn't make sense. I think this is where it's so mind boggling for folks. And then you see guys start putting piss poor effort out there. Like Wolf had one block where I'm, I wish I had the tape of it. I, me not do, I could go back and watch it, but he just, like, he sticks his arm straight out but then doesn't do anything else to block the defender and just completely gets blown off the block. Stuff like that. Like what are you all doing? You're not gonna win a game like that.

Track 1:

When you said Wolf had one block, I was surprised because I don't think he had any blocks in the game, but he had one attempted block. Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

yes.

Track 1:

God, he's bad. He's, I mean, you're talking about one example, I can think of three or four of where he just gets blown up

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah.

Track 1:

on the outs either on the outside block and are trying to be a polar and just can't. Yeah. He's. the blocking effort definitely needs some work.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Who's the blocking coach? Fire that guy,

Track 1:

the blocking coach

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

blocking coach. Find the, find who's responsible for that, and have him removed.

Track 1:

My name's pka and I would like to apply to be your blocking coach.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

to, I would like to be the blocking coach'cause I would've been holding them sons bitches all day. I mean, and then you could argue against our defense. That's how they got some good success.'cause there were some pretty egregious holds. Either way we got dominated.

Track 1:

Yeah, we'll start with the first one. I wanted to see the defense hold them to less than 56. We said, don't do what you did last week, and somehow that got lost in translation.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yep. they heard Do what you did last week.

Track 1:

But we got pretty much dominated along the line. They were Getting after it. We didn't really get pressure on the quarterback. Kept him upright and he was a big old target back there. Not very mobile. Still couldn't really get to him. I guess we didn't give up the easy touchdowns this week for the most part, like they're.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

when you say that, I'm assuming you mean like the one play touchdowns. Okay. Because everything seemed easy. Every time they touched the ball, It seemed easy

Track 1:

just saying. It wasn't the one play outta nowhere. All of theirs were drives, but yeah, most of em were capped with a unguarded guy catching the ball in the back of the end zone still. Yes,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

just completely uncovered. I don't know who we had like linebackers in coverage. I don't know what was going on. Yeah, I mean, we get to that.

Track 1:

On the tackling front. I don't remember us really missing tackles again, like we did against U A B, but we just weren't in position to make tackles this week.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Well, you can't miss it if you're not there,

Track 1:

Right, Exactly. Exactly.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I mean, every tackle I was there for,

Track 1:

There was a lot of finger pointing of Whose guy was that? Oh, that was my guy. Oh shit. Like, how do you figure that?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

whoa, whoa. No, no throwing accusations out here. That wasn't my guy.

Track 1:

a lot of, talking, let's just say about who had, who. I mean the middle of the field, the zone that you like to call out, open all day on those third and longs and things just Yeah. the third, they're so compared to our third down conversions where we're three for 16, they were nine for 16. And we talked about this was a team that their offense hadn't been clicking, and Coach Golish even gave us quote. He was like, you know, they, our third down defense allowed over 50% and that was against an offense that hadn't been able to do that previously. so,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Well first time for everything. You're welcome. F A U. You're welcome.

Track 1:

penalties. We'll get into the reffing of this game, but penalties were not, the penalties that were called, were not the issue for us in this game, let's put it that way.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

No, I mean there were some drive extenders. There was the leaping that I don't necessarily agree with that extended the one drive. a couple other ones, but yeah, there weren't exactly, the pen penalties aren't what losses this game.

Track 1:

Nope.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. So, you know, who did lose this game?

Track 1:

Todd Orlando

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Well, but we're not talking about firing him. Hey, should we fire coach Alex Goli yet? Like we actually have to, we have to do this segment for real. After two piss poor performances and a couple losses.

Track 1:

I really do. Fuck man,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

damnit.'cause there are people rightfully asking W t F mate.

Track 1:

Oh, we have an Australian listening audience.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah,

Track 1:

well, the answer's still, hell no. It's his first fucking season. He already won more games than all of Jeff Scott combined over there. I don't care if he loses every game the rest of the season. With us giving 56 points up. He's still not getting fired.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yep.

Track 1:

Please, God, don't let that happen

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Don't let that please. We're putting it out there. But please, for the love of God, don't lose every game'cause it's gonna be a long season. We still got the second half of this bad boy to roll through.

Track 1:

But I hope go is keeping some receipts though because I don't know, again, I don't know what the target is on his back or his team's back. I don't know if it's because he, the way he coaches like keeping Byron Brown out there and keep fighting and going for it on fourth downs and stuff. But he al is he the new like Greg Shiano where Shiano used to do that stupid knee down bullshit. That pissed off everybody. I don't know if other coaches just don't like him, if they're not like him, what he is doing on their recruiting trail or something. But it feels like Dilfer last week had it out for him. Herman's certainly going for it this week.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

It. It does feel personal, doesn't it?

Track 1:

it does. Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I don't know what he did or if they all like at last year's annual coaching conference, maybe hooked up with a bunch of the wives or something. I don't know.

Track 1:

Jesus.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

He got out there in the tight pants and it was game over and they're like, when we see that dude, next year, I'm running the fucking score up on him.

Track 1:

I think it's just jealousy like, and I know there's not much to be jealousy U S F, but I think they just know that, hey, we're, we've got the most going for us. Academically, you know, big name, getting the new stadium, all that kind of stuff. They just know it's a chance to score points, I guess, in the kind of the national media and it's an easy way to run it up while you can essentially. Right. So,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I mean, well, we're not gonna

Track 1:

is to his credit, doesn't seem to be letting it affect him. You know, he is not getting in a war with these guys and the pressors after the game or anything, you know, he is saying, Game of football. They got every right to do what they did. But I, like I said, I hope he is just keeping the receipts. He said, I think he said something along the lines, we'll get ours sometime or something. So,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

oh yeah. I mean, you. Watching the game on tv, you just saw his face on the sideline and he was just like, God, I wanna kill something. Like it's just this deadpan look to where I actually watched, like I kept it on.'cause I thought maybe the handshake would be a little dramatic, but it was just a real quick shake my hand and get the

Track 1:

just a little Curt curtness.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

little like, I don't got nothing to think. So we're not firing him. He gets to stay, but we gotta figure something out because this game was bad.

Track 1:

it was, to be honest, the first half we played poorly still, but it was at least a game still in the first half. Like I, I felt going into halftime. Being like, man, it's only 2114. I felt like we should have been run outta there with that score and we got, you know, make some adjustments, come out,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah.

Track 1:

still pull this thing out. you know, we went down seven, nothing Defense was flatfooted. Three guys all watching on that first drive, you know, they drive down the ball and they're third and goal from the two or whatever, and they hit the little tight end flat pass. And we got three guys all on the inside blocker instead of one of them Streaming out to the flat.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah, that's the thing, like nobody knew where they were supposed to be. It's, and at that point it was just like, just score already.'cause I know it's coming.

Track 1:

unfortunately, we, you know, we started to get a drive together and then we fumbled it back to them then they go all the way down and make it 14 nothing. And that was just their easiest drive of the day, doing whatever they wanted. I'm not sure they even got to like, throw down on that drive.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

making it simple

Track 1:

It was not pretty, but we come back and, you know, we start putting stuff together. We had our best drive of the day in response with Atkins making plays out there. I still don't think he was out of bounds.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Ah, he was. A hundred percent. He was out.

Track 1:

Well, doesn't matter because we're like, screw that. We'll let him pass the ball if then, if you're gonna do that to us. So

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Fuck it. We'll score. Anyway,

Track 1:

yeah. That's the attitude you gotta have when things go against you, especially from the refs. Like you just gotta go out there and do it anyways. Unfortunately, defense gives it right back to them. You know, that's, that was the problem here is anytime we started to get something going, they came back and just put it back the other way. wouldn't let us get the momentum going and then obviously the momentum really went going for them in the second half. but we did get an Aquan Wright going in the first half. He had over a hundred yards and this was his real drive in response to make it 2114. Before the half we were. Hit some like counter runs and he was showing some good patience letting blocks develop and, some guys miss

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

He has a good runs.

Track 1:

yeah, would've liked to get him the second touchdown to cap it, but hey, we hit Gunner Greenwald on the play action instead.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Threw that ball so hard. It knocked him on his ass. he made

Track 1:

good thing he was already in the end zone.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

it already

Track 1:

wider receivers cannot get any yards after the catch as he evidenced by falling down when he caught it.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I caught it. I'm down. Like, what do you think is going on out there? Oh my gosh. But then we get into the second half and it's no longer a football game.

Track 1:

nah, no. 35 to nothing in the second half. Folks, last week when we were down, defense came out, got a stop on the first drive and thought, oh, maybe that'll get us some momentum. And the offense failed to do that this week. Defense like, oh, we're gonna skip that step and just, Never came out from halftime. Looked like they took a nat, like negative adjustments during the half,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

How do we undo anything that might be able to help us win this game?

Track 1:

they drove down the field, they got it into the goal line package, and they brought in the running quarterback, which we seemed unprepared for.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Nope, No idea what they were doing. He just walked right in.

Track 1:

yeah, it was. It's frustrating. It's frustrating. You gotta

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

No shit.

Track 1:

the dude's out there to run the ball. Maybe someone should have the quarterback instead. Again, we got guys going covering people instead of taking care of the primary threat.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

and I don't remember if they showed, was it Stokes or Gordon on that coverage where he like cheats over to the side where all the motion's going and the gap is just wide open, like doesn't come over.

Track 1:

So Dayday Evans is screaming across the field because he's actually got, he's the guy who's meant to be covering the guy in the flat, so he's flat, out running. Jalen Schuler goes with that guy too. and then realizes he was meant to be in the gap and does like a little spin move. Chris Townsville's standing in the end zone.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

was Townsville. That's Who? it

Track 1:

Townsville's. Who? The guy I was getting there to who I thought you were talking about. Townsville's standing there in the end zone. Still in the gap, but is watching the guy run

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Hey, that guy has his ball,

Track 1:

Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Townsville, and you could see it too. He just lost his man. It was Townsville.

Track 1:

Yeah, there were quite a few plays, between Townsville and Stokes and Gordon, Braxton Clark. Between four of them, there's probably a dozen plays, whereas the old, chest tap my bad,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

that, one's on me. Well, the about another probably Dozen plays where they're doing the Spider-Man, all three pointing at each other. Like, that was your guy. That was your guy. That was my guy. Like, what the hell? So we're unprepared for that. He walks in, he scores, and then the offense is like, well, if you're done, I'm done.

Track 1:

Yeah, I mean, God, the offense. Just two quick three and outs to start. The second half, the first one, it looked like we were trying to rely too heavily on what had just worked. At the end of the first half with the run game we gave it to, tried to give it to Aquan Wright, three plays, or we guess we did give it to Aquan, right? Three plays in a row. But none of'em were successful. I mean, so you just went three and out without throwing a downfield pass. And that's where I talked about, you know, taking Byron Brown out of the game, right? Like so three and out without him having the ability to make a play. Then the Give it right back to them. And this time they, now they really start whipping out the tricks out of their playbook where they put the star wide receiver in the backfield and he runs a little post, we post corner turns. DJ Gordon around has no idea where he is going wide open.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

lost.

Track 1:

I mean even on that one though, they had to Earlier in the dry, they converted a third and eight. They converted a fourth and two. But I mean, we told you about white receiver number one, man. we, he was in our preview. He's good.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

we didn't know he was that good.

Track 1:

eh, I mean, we made him, maybe we made him look better than he even was, but he is pretty good.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

there, and I talked about this in the group chat. I think a couple other people said it when there. Pork chop of quarterback ran for that fourth down. That was the moment for me.

Track 1:

Oh yeah, that one was, that was

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

That was the breaking point for me. That's where I was like,'cause I was pretty sure there was a hold. That guy is not exactly Michael Vick. Like, I don't understand how that happened. Took my hat off. I'm hitting the pillows with it. Just upset.

Track 1:

That's where I get, obviously we've talked a lot about frustration and breaking here between the two of us in several different plays. But on that, that QB run in particular, DJ Gordon man, he's not the best at reading plays or finding the zone coverage and that stuff. He's sitting in the middle field of his zone, sees the quarterback run, and he gets ALF out athlete by that fat. It's like your job is to run fast and hit hard, and you have the ultimate opportunity against this quarterback right there

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

do both.

Track 1:

to do both. And you're diving in his ankles and watching him run past you instead

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Oh man, it was so bad.

Track 1:

ah, but so then we go three and out again. And, I'm actually gonna do a little separate analysis, I think on all the different three and outs we had Maybe do put that in our preview episode.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Cool.

Track 1:

but this time when we go three and outs, we don't even now special teams is like, guys, let save you the trouble. We don't need to put the defense out there. We don't even put, we will just let'em

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Get him a break. Yeah, and then he just comes.

Track 1:

we give'em the punt return touchdown this time.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yep.

Track 1:

then we'll just skip over most of the rest of it. We turn it over on downs, then we blow another coverage for a touchdown. then we turn it over on Downs again, and now they run the ball all over us for a touchdown.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

just Bryce. Archie comes in some point in the middle of this and he actually starts throwing, he throws a pretty ball.

Track 1:

Yeah. He throws pretty well. Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Like, he comes out and I'm like, all right, wait a second. Let's go ahead. Just fuck it. Let's just see what it gets. And then Byron Brown comes back in, somewhere in there. It is just a shit show. The whole thing.

Track 1:

It was.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

It's just a shit show.

Track 1:

And then thankfully the clock hit zero and here we are,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Thank you. F a u for, for actually going victory formation at the end of the game. They waited until the very, very last, like 45 seconds, but they finally, they went victory. They said, all right. 56 points is enough. We're good. We can go home with that. We just needed to do better or as good as the week before 56 points. We, we just needed to, we can't be worse than u a b. The other three letter, no name school.

Track 1:

So I feel bad about this actually. It's our Matt Hill Player of the Week Award this week. Matt Hill actually played a decent amount and wasn't one of the guys I have to call out, so sorry. Matt Hill,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

sorry about that. This

Track 1:

tackles in the garbage time there. don't need the trash talk when we're losing 56 to 14,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. You saw that he gets on the sideline, he gets a hit and then they're like, one of the coaches is even like pointing at the scoreboard

Track 1:

that, that, would've been you, let's be honest. That would've

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

that was totally me, but I don't like it when people do it to me. so yeah, Matt Hill don't do that. Maybe this week we call it the DJ Gordon. Player of the week'cause he did not have a good game.

Track 1:

He did not, but he's not my, he's not my player of the week.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Go ahead. Who's

Track 1:

Mine's Mike Lofton.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Offensive

Track 1:

this, he's, representative, I think of the Oline in general. I could have given it to Bauman or Herring or Perry or Jennings, any of the O line really. There were sacks all around there. The running holes weren't really there. But my problem was in a game where the refs swallowed their whistles and refused to pretty much call penalties at all with some glaring holds and missed face masks and all that kind of stuff. He managed to get called out there and take away, like Bryce Arch who's out there doing some things and his plays were getting called back'cause of Mike Lofton out there, so,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

how do you get called for shit when they're not calling it, like how egregious does it have to be?

Track 1:

Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I mean to, to that point with the O line, like I remember there was one sac where Herring was just like, literally just standing there and it's not even like, oh, you know, he was in the middle of making a play. Like he's standing there and then he like turns around and it's like, oh, wow. Passed us

Track 1:

Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

two weeks in a row for me. It goes to the entire receiver room. Listen, you all have one fucking job. Catch the ball. If you're not catching the ball, unless you're Sean Atkins, who also has to throw the ball. If you're not catching the ball, why are you out there? What do you do? You have one job. Catch the ball. If you can't do that, go be a db. We need him. Go get on the other side of the ball. Catch the ball. We had one. Guaranteed touchdown. Brown Stevens drops. It turns up the field too early. Yeah. so it's wide open. You have a touchdown. Catch the fucking ball. C T F B.

Track 1:

I knew we were in trouble when Sean Atkins started dropping balls too.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Then he dropped one. Shawn Atkins. And he gets an okay, he gets a pass from me'cause it's Sean Atkins.'cause he could do everything else on the field. But it was, I mean, just catch the ball. What are you all doing? God.

Track 1:

wasn't much for the, Matt Growthy. Holy shit. How'd he do that play of the game? because we only scored 14 points. I'd give one nominee back to your guy, Sean Atkins, on his nice catch.'cause it was an amazing effort just to catch that and had a little like spin move on the sideline

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah,

Track 1:

I guess he was out, but still he had to run all that way and pretend that he wasn't out. So,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

it was close.

Track 1:

followed that up with the pass immediately after that. my other nominee is Byron Brown, not just coming back in after two targeting head shots. And

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Brutal hits. Where's the concussion protocol? Oh my god.

Track 1:

but yeah, he comes back out there and then he is about to get another sack, but he spins outta like three guys and runs for 30 yards or so on, you know?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Poor, poor kid.

Track 1:

at the time.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

He's like 19.

Track 1:

to keep fighting, man.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

We're breaking them. Can we give, can we give some to the opposite team? Because they had some dudes making plays,

Track 1:

nope.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

some catches,

Track 1:

Not happening.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

one handed and just

Track 1:

I just got done rewatching the game and I can immediately think of, yeah, three one-handed catches they had and I fucking remember for some reason sticking outta my head. The announcers are going crut nuts over. Like a four yard catch that Lae Wester had, it was amazing like toe tap jumping on this island. I'm like, guys, it's a four yard reception and a 28 point ball game over here. Let's ease off the accolades.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Oh, look at them. They're fantastic. The announcers were complete trash.

Track 1:

can't I do not wanna have two weeks in a row? Thank God I didn't have to listen to them live'cause I was at the game. I think a lot of you guys were, switching over to the U S F broadcast as we've advertised

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah, that was definitely the way to go. You know what we also should have done? Get rid of the refs.

Track 1:

God, I don't think these were the same guys as last week. They might as well have been God again, reviewing all this different horseshit stuff.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah,

Track 1:

I mean, we talked about them just swallowing the whistle. I mean, there were some blatant holds. They didn't call.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

some, but then also, okay. It's like we start holding too, which let's call it what it is. We're like, all right, you wanna play that? And I'm like, Exactly what I said in the podcast previously. If they're gonna do it, do it back, punch'em in the fucking ribs. Dig your thumb in there, like make a pay. And I mean, we got away with a couple too. Alright, got it. But then they start calling them only on us. What are you talking? What? What? No, you can't do that. They're missing face masks. They're missing like all these other, like at one point, Quan Wright's head turned back towards the opposite end zone, like it turns all the way around. They're like, oh, didn't see anything there. Did you guys see anything? No. Okay, great. Next play. Unbelievable. And then

Track 1:

Fucking leaping.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

what is that? I know. I know what leaping is, right? And I know what the word means, but it's like, Was leaping

Track 1:

I've never seen it called in that situa, like I, I know about it, of trying to jump over the line and all that kind of stuff and landing on the guy, but it's just one guy on one guy like If he jumps up like a guy's not allowed to jump in the air anymore, like to try and get past that guy, like

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

but he like jumped and another guy decided to do some sort of like nutcracker ballet thing and like lifted him up in the air and like threw him so it was like even more dramatic.

Track 1:

Yeah. I don't get it.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I don't get it either that and that extended a drive and they ended up, no, I think we They didn't score

Track 1:

not score. on that. one, but it did extend the drive, Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

did extend the drive, which leaves the defense out there, which makes'em tired.

Track 1:

It was just a lot of bullshit. Very frustrating in a overall

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah.

Track 1:

day that we're already pissed off, right? nothing that cost us the game, unfortunately. Wish, wish we could blame it on the refs, but,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

we can't. What about,

Track 1:

are really lacking this week. Just

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I know there's not

Track 1:

lacking. Makes it hard to find fun. Shit. you got creamed is next creamed.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

cream and no one, nothing really doing there.

Track 1:

Yeah, I haven't gotten creamed in two weeks thanks to this team.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Nice. Solid. Did Hootie

Track 1:

upset. Hootie did not get

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

really?

Track 1:

no. Creaming for Hootie. They had two chicks out there as I, you know, talked about First Girl. Didn't even hit Hootie. Second girl hit'em first time, but,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah.

Track 1:

but wasn't a, didn't knock'em down. no. Dick Lasers coming from our guys off the sidelines.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

No Dick Lasers dad Gambit.

Track 1:

whole game was a dead gamut.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

The whole thing.

Track 1:

Just getting off the bus, going down 14 to start another football game,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yep.

Track 1:

I mean, I will say, even though we go down 14, at least it's not Jeff Scott levels where the game's over in the first quarter, right? Like this was still a game at halftime. We battled back game was over in the third, at the end of the third quarter. But, I'll take that. The other dad gamut I had kicking the fucking feel goal.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

like a 49 yarder or something.

Track 1:

I, here's my theory on this. I think Coach Go was just tired. Everyone bitching about the fourth downs, being like, why isn't this guy kick field goals? And he's just like, well, here you go. I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna walk this out. Exhibit A, can shut the fuck up. Get off my back, let just let me go over the goddamn fourth downs.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Y'all want a fucking field call. We'll watch this

Track 1:

Exactly. Exactly.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

He's out there with his hair looking all crazy like Gary Busey, hug out. Kick a damn field. Call if you want it. Well, that's what you

Track 1:

attempted a 49 yard field goal, which may not have been good from 40, I

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah, that was quite short. I was like, oh, he did. Oh no he didn't. That's That was pretty short. That was way short. Bless his heart. He tried. I. so yeah,

Track 1:

that gamut.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Dad gammit. Dad gammit. There's some key takeaways, like we thought we got to skip the rebuild phase of this team.

Track 1:

Geez. Yeah, we just need some more guys out there. we're getting some experience for some young guys at least, I guess. But yeah, it's still, we're still rebuilding this team. And people want, again, they wanna think, oh, we're just, we're so much more talented than f a u, we shouldn't even be on the same field. We still got some guys out there who probably shouldn't be playing if we're being ideal, right?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Oh yeah.

Track 1:

whether those are some Jeff Scott guys from recruits or guys who are just in there for injury or what have you. It's just not, the talent is not where we need it to be, and we got some good recruiting class coming in. Very excited about that.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

man, I just, sure. Maybe it's old guys. Maybe it's old talent or something. I don't know. Old lack of talent, but we're still doing better than your expectations for the

Track 1:

we are. And that's why my expectations were so low. We, there's a lot of work to be done on this team still. It's not instant success. I mean, and now when I really look in the rear view mirror here, could start, nitpicking a little bit and say, Hey, did we only beat Navy because they essentially gave us the game.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Oh,

Track 1:

did we only beat rice because their sharding quarterback got hurt?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I mean,'cause he was slinging the ball on

Track 1:

He was,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

We got a little lucky there. Ugh.

Track 1:

things are not, I would say high level. The last four games in a vacuum, two and two, however we got there is good.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah,

Track 1:

All four of those teams are about equal with us as terms of Records, coaching, talent levels, all of those things. So when we're 500 in those games,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I.

Track 1:

I like to see us go four oh in a where my expectations of where U S F should be? Yes. All four of those teams should be below our standard and should be games. We expect to win all the time. Right now where this team is, that's not gonna happen.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I mean,

Track 1:

just the facts.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

but then

Track 1:

with what we have on the field.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

we got spoiled for a couple weeks there though. And that's kind of the thing is like folks see potential and that's hard when you regress.'cause we regressed. Pretty bad. I mean, go through it like pass offense. What'd you see? I already said it. catch the ball.

Track 1:

ball. We talked about if Sean Atkins is dropping the ball, no one else is catching the ball either. So,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

If he is dropping it, we just mail it in. That's

Track 1:

on the past offense, we really didn't, I. Early in the game before it was outta hand. We didn't really try to develop much. we, again, we tried too much of the quick wide receiver screen game, those types of things. The flat passes, which we had asked for, but they weren't working. but I think some of the downfield stuff was, I mean, Naeem Simmons was wide open on that, or it might have been Michael Brown Stevens early on. That one that Byron Brown just missed. But those, you know, I think middle of the field, the hitches, those types of stuff, I think that's all stuff we can build on. That's the stuff I wanna get the confidence in. Then you start doing the misdirection type stuff. the rush offense, I don't know what to think about it. Worked for a driver two with Aquan Wright in there to end and a half, but to really evaluate that we gotta not be down 2, 3, 4, 5. Six touchdowns. You know, like,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

you eventually stop running the ball'cause you need points, but it's not working.

Track 1:

it's not run defense. It wasn't good. It wasn't as bad as it was against U A B, you know, with the missed tackles and all that kinda stuff. We still gave up 200 yards rushing, but essentially 70 of it was in garbage time.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. And you know what? They loved what the announcers loved pointing out, and this was rush and Pass defense, but they were like, that's the 15th, play over 20 yards. They haven't had any plays under 20 yards. My God. Shut up. Oh, we get it. They're getting big plays.

Track 1:

A big problem with the rush offense is discipline, so that's gap assignments, not overrunning the

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

you said rush offense. You mean Rush Defense. Good.

Track 1:

problem with the rush defense is discipline. That's gap assignments, not overrunning the ball, especially when they start going to like the qb, backup QB runs the ball. keeper stuff where at first we either weren't respecting the keeper and then later in their last touchdown we had like four guys go with the QB keeper and no one stay at home with the running back. so just do your job, guys. Know your assignment, do your job, and go

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

That's coaching though, isn't it? That's coaching.

Track 1:

I would say it's coaching, but at a certain point coaches can only simplify defense so much. Teach you how it's meant to, you know, drill it to you in practice, say, this is how it's gonna look, this is what it you're meant to do in this situation. Sometimes players, you know, if players come off and say, Hey, we've never seen that before. Didn't know what I was meant to do, then yeah, that's a hundred percent coaching. If players say, yeah, that's exactly what we solve in. You know, practice during the week and I just went with the wrong guy then I don't know what, you know, all you can do is say the next guy up. At that point, I mean

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. That's fair.

Track 1:

communication, coaching, I mean, it was bad in the, you know, discipline on the run defense, knowing your job seemed like no one knew their job in past defense of especially their zone. I mean, we didn't get a sack. We had no pressure. We can't pass off a guy between different zones to save our lives.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I mean,

Track 1:

Db.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

there was certain points where there's two defenders in the same area, right? Like in the, and I'm not talking like double coverage or anything. They just fucking accidentally ended up in the same area.

Track 1:

By double coverage you mean they're covering each other

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah.

Track 1:

an open area of the field, not double covering the guy who just caught a touchdown. No. Yeah. DB communication all time low. I don't know if that's injuries. Lacking leadership out there. I mean, Morris Brown's the only guy I know who couldn't go. Daquan Evans is beat up, but I thought he played pretty well today. A lot of it's just confidence, I think.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I mean, when you have a team doing that to you,

Track 1:

Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

like they came in an eight hour lunch. Sat down right in front of us and just started spooning in their mouth slowly making eye contact.

Track 1:

Yeah, it was bad guys just pointing at each other. Is that your man? Is that my man? Trying to, you know, the old, you're chasing the guy into the end zone, then you immediately turn around and what happened?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

was that me? Was that you? Oh, okay. Damn.

Track 1:

and then even when we switch to Some more man coverage later in the game just to, you know, simplify it I guess, or send more blitzers. And that's when they started making all these one-handed catches on these deep balls and stuff like that over the top of guys and,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

which is demoralizing, right? Like even when you're there to make a play and a guy just like snags, it catches it like twice with one hand.

Track 1:

Yeah.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

it's just, that's his, yeah.

Track 1:

So that was the defense

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

And then, yeah, that must've been a bright spot, right? Because something had to have gone well.

Track 1:

we missed the field goal. The punt return touchdown. We gave up the onside kick. It is what it is. Those are the words of Coach Golish, you know, special teams. Certainly. I was surprised how pissed off he was about the punt return. Td, it just shows you, like in his mind it was still A game at that. Like that's the belief and confidence he has in like, the offense to just get it clicking is like, oh, we get the ball back at some point there. We're gonna, we're gonna get a stop. We're gonna start. I think that was the point that he kind of broke in the game of, oh yeah, no, we don't got this anymore but he wasn't pissed off about the onside kick. That's when he said, it is what it is. It's just, Hey, move on. you can do about it. So,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Try not to let them get in your head. It's a psych out game, don't let'em do what they intend to do.'cause they're sending a message there. Don't give'em the satisfaction.

Track 1:

It definitely seemed, for whatever reason, beyond just trying to make a statement on the field, it seemed like F A U was trying to make a statement off the field as well they had when I was watching the replay, I don't know, five different items on the sideline, like a belt, a bat,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

They had a bat. It was a, so it was the turnover bat and the quarterback's carrying it. What is a, what is, it doesn't make any sense. They had the big, like silver.

Track 1:

Florida flag

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yep. is, what kind of like legends of the lost temple is that bullshit? Like what do you got? We got different artifacts you could pull out and like

Track 1:

got a whole equipment trunk on the sideline of just full of props, ready for guys to pull out.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Then make your way through the room of the offensive line. Find the touchdown, bat It's fucking stupid.

Track 1:

Then I guess after the game, there was a video of them, I guess not them, the players actually stopped their mascot from planting a field flag at F A U flag on our field.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

when the players are stopping the mascot.

Track 1:

yeah, the ma, the mascot getting a little carried away there. But I mean, that was like 20 minutes after the game. Like there's no, none of our players are out there to fight about it or anything, so whatever.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

he's like that guy for the Little Caesars commercial. Where they're like, yeah, you know, it's a$5 hot and ready. He's like, there's no rules. It's like, whoa, whoa, mascot. there's one rule. Don't do what you're doing right there. Stop doing that.

Track 1:

mascot. You don't gotta go fucking out there next year. And. your head into these guys

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

to get my fucking skull taken off because you decided to come out here and play Lewis and Clark with the F A U flag. Like, stop, take

Track 1:

already gonna be enough of that since you decided to target our quarterback

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah, exactly. Oh, we're coming. We won't forget. You know what else doesn't forget Red?

Track 1:

an elephant.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Y and the internet. Yes. An elephant, but also the internet.

Track 1:

the internet has elephants, huh?

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. It's run by elephants. Elephant musk, get it for the dumb tweet of the week.

Track 1:

Yeah, dumb tweet of the week is making a strong Kind Back is the, it's the only segment that's got content this week. it's my least favorite segment, just'cause it. It's painful, but it's a necessity. I imagine it's how the F B I feels having to prosecute January 6th of criminals

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Oh, but

Track 1:

oh, here's a guy who's smiling on camera as he commits a crime of stupidity. Like just, but I really gotta go now. Go to fucking take him to court, ruin his goddamn life

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

it. So you see, he's out here having fun, being an idiot. Oh gosh. There's con, there's consequences for your actions, right? And there's consequences for your dumb takes. And, a podcast with Less than 50 followers is is getting ready to roast you.

Track 1:

you guys are getting off easy. Let

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. Lemme tell you, it can be a lot worse. What did you find out there In the wild west of the internet.

Track 1:

first we'll start with some general themes.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Okay.

Track 1:

Theme number one. Nothing to do with the game, but everyone's bitching about the goddamn stadium renderings. Apparently they thought because it was homecoming renderings of the new on-campus stadium were gonna be released. Or they're just looking for that as some sort of solace or,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

That we're actually getting it or something. They need the reassurance. Okay.

Track 1:

They'll be out when they're fucking out people. They're probably saving'em for the off season. You know, you have things on the field to talk about right now. You don't really,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

not really

Track 1:

have bad things on the field to talk about.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

not a lot of stuff to talk about here, Ray.

Track 1:

Our podcast is still talking. Okay. We don't need

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. Yeah.

Track 1:

Bitching about it is not gonna make Michael. Kelly's not going, oh man. The fans, they're on me. I better release those renderings.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

forget those renderings are out quick.

Track 1:

no one's gonna want the new stadium if I don't release pictures of it soon. Like even if they release the goddamn renderings, it's still three years until the stadium's ready. Like it's gonna be a long process here, people.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

that's like the kid that wakes up May 3rd is like, is it Christmas yet? No. Go back to sleep.

Track 1:

the other big theme we already talked about a little bit was this isn't the worst loss in program history. We lost to a conference game. I get it. We all think of fa u's as shitty little program, but right now they're in our conference, they're on our level. It's a bad loss, got outta hand. But it was 2114 at halftime. It was one shitty, really shitty quarter of It was not the end of the world. It was not state. Nowhere near that level. People are especially adding that. Oh, they did it to us on homecoming too. How disrespectful. Homecoming is a fucking made up concept to get fans in the goddamn seats.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah,

Track 1:

I bet if you asked half the fucking team, they didn't even know his homecoming. There's no player in there who's like, oh, I'm gonna play extra hard'cause it's homecoming

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

homecoming. gotta represent for homecoming. What? They don't care.

Track 1:

last general takeaway. Burn the fuck outta Woody.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Where is that thing?

Track 1:

I want him slapped in a. Pair of gold pants from Lee's and we're gonna burn'em together.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I like it. I like it. let's do it. We're on a mission.

Track 1:

then we have the typical, this time I did highlight a particular user, this one from the Bulls pen,

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Okay.

Track 1:

by the name of Bull Cocky. That's bull cocky.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

That's bull cocky. Ugh.

Track 1:

And I'll let you take it away from there.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Well, with in the theme of bull cocky, I'll read it like that, with a mixture of a British and Australian accent. I've donated over 100 K to athletics and attended every home game since 2004 and over 50 away games. I'm done guys. I don't want to be associated with these universities and conference let alone lose or get destroyed by them. If I could get in a time machine, make a different choice of universities, I would. I will be back on board if we ever get in a power league, but until then, I'm saving my money, time, and energy. Good on anybody sticking it out. I've been through enough time for U S F to start paying back on the investment. Hold on a second. Hold on. Hold, hold, hold, hold, hold on. when you buy tickets, is there like a contract where the university says, I will deliver?

Track 1:

you get to see a certain amount of wins or you get your money

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

You get your money back time for U s F to start paying back on the investment. That's not part of the deal. Oh, hey Bullocky. Thanks for your money. Here's your, here's your return on investment. It's not an investment you schmuck. You're paying for entertainment. I'm sorry if you're not entertained. There have been some entertaining times. There have been. Alright, go in a time machine. I would do a lot of different things with a time machine if I had one. Not go back and decide not to give to U S F, but I mean, you do. You man. I don't know what's going on in your life that this is the most important thing. You've been to every home game and over 50 away games since 2004 and you're complaining. That sounds awesome. Even if they are losses, how could, I mean, you are. Why are you upset? Yes, they lost. It's not even the worst loss of program history. Yes, it is not fun to be in the American right now with a set of teams that aren't that great who beat us two games in a row. Okay, I'm with you. That sucks. But you're just basically saying, I'm gonna go over here. I'm not gonna put my time and effort into this team that's rebuilding and I'll come back around when you win. That ladies and gentlemen is not someone that donates 100 K to athletics. That's a fair weather fan. That is someone that only shows up when it's good. And I mean, good. Go ahead. Leave. We don't need you. I got a, I kidnapped a mascot trying to plant the flag in the middle of the field and he's gonna come over and start donating some money and time. Heck, like I just, if you wanna, I understand being upset and maybe you're sitting there thinking about it and reading through it and saying like, you know what, maybe I went a little bit too far. Maybe not. Maybe you're sticking by it. Okay, great. So Yukon has really low TV ratings'cause bull cock, he's not watching. Cool. Yeah. That's just Okay.

Track 1:

I. Hit the nail on the head. As always, puka, I don't understand this fan entitlement of I deserve to see a win. Like the whole concept of the sport you are watching is that half the fan base is gonna be unhappy, if they start giving refunds out when your team loses.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah.

Track 1:

No money is being made on the sport like you're entitled to watch them play a game in safety and comfort, and that's about it. Everything else out the window, like they played 60 minutes. I didn't have anyone harassing me or spilling beer on me. I got a nice padded seat. Had food and beer options.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Perfect.

Track 1:

all I can ask

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Right. What more do you need?

Track 1:

what my money gets me. My money does not go towards whatever happens on the fucking field. Whether you're given N I L, whatever you're donating, does not promise you anything on the field results.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

You don't get a, you don't get a win guarantee.

Track 1:

Nope.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Wow. wow. That's news to Bullocky. That's news

Track 1:

after spending so much, you would've known that by now.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

I've donated over a hundred K to athletic. I'm assuming that's a hundred thousand, which, I mean, good for you if you've got that kind of money, but now you're upset that you gave it to athletics. And you don't feel like you got anything out of it that just sounds like you need a financial advisor.

Track 1:

well, let's switch it up on this last, dumb tweet of the week. This one is from the Solid Verbal College Football Podcast at Solid Verbal.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Ooh,

Track 1:

This was actually from before the game it, but in retrospect, it looks real dumb. so the most improved defenses from 2022 to 2023, number two U s f most improved defenses and then gives up 56 points again for the

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

56 points

Track 1:

but that just tells you how bad our defense was last year that we're

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

and that we're most improved by the numbers and we still are bad

Track 1:

Yeah. Yeah. We gave up 112 points in two weeks in a row or two weeks combined. And that's still the number two most improved defense in college

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

Yeah. God, that's brutal.

Track 1:

and also on that same tweet, the biggest offensive regressions from 2022 to 2023 was, number four on that list was f a U, but I assume they're off those rankings now.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

probably have fallen off. They are the, yeah, we're a couple stat paters. U S

Track 1:

just shows there's, there's lies, damn lies. And then there's statistics, right? I mean, so that's just a factual statistical tweet, and it couldn't have been more wrong.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

It couldn't have been. I mean, in hindsight it's wrong. At the moment it was right, but I don't know all this. The past two weeks, it is confidence turned into concern, my friend. I mean, let's see where this week's takes us, you know, going up to Hartford, Connecticut, but all of a sudden I'm worried.

Track 1:

I've always been worried Puka, and let's just say Hartford has not always been the kindest place to us either.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

No, apparently so. So tune in later this week. Red. You're doing a solo preview of Yukon.

Track 1:

Wait, I am.

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

yeah, man. I'm done with this shit until the bye. So

Track 1:

Must be

pookah_1_10-16-2023_181239:

yeah, sure is. Catch us on all the socials and until next time, go Bulls.

Track 1:

Go bulls.
