And they make you feel good about a game you shouldn't really think you should be in. And then they take it away from you. And that, that's just so frustrating. That really is frustrating. And there were some things where we felt like, I mean, here's where I was kind of reflecting on the game, and we'll talk about it, but there were moments where they were incredibly frustrating that I don't know had a huge impact by themselves on the outcome of the game. We were going to lose that game. Miami is a fantastic team. I mean, they've got a lot of talent. We talked about that in the preview. Damn, there were just some moments, like the third down option to the boundary. Yeah. When you need a touchdown and you got Atkins on the other side of the field. Wide open. Mad. Angry. Red. I'm angry. I'm angry again.

Were we ever gonna win it? I don't know. They had us edging on our, Niko Gramatica field goals in there. Like, we probably shouldn't have been that excited we were settling for field goals, but we were winning at one point, so we were.
pookah_1_09-24-2024_181153:I mean, I celebrated like Niko celebrated. I mean, I was amped when he kicked that field goal. And then I was like. Hey man, maybe don't jump around like that. That's dangerous for a kicker to do. We need that groin, baby. Come on. Careful.
red_1_09-24-2024_181152:But yeah, it's, it's tough to, again, back to, we're seeing similar themes already through four, four games a season, settling for field goals. Uh, especially, you know, it was nice to take a one point lead, but you were down. Inside the eight yard line and you come away with three, uh, then they immediately come back with a touchdown one play later and what was a nice, you're feeling good is erased immediately. Then we put together another nice drive, drive down the field, try to get something with two minutes, settle for another field goal. And now, and now this time you actually missed the field goal. So like all of that positivity from the first half was erased going into half.
pookah_1_09-24-2024_181153:Yeah. I feel like the game plan has shifted. In Goldrush's first year, he had nothing to lose. There's only one way to go but up. And so, we took chances. I feel like there were shots. We went for it a lot more often on fourth down. I feel like this is now a coach and a game plan that's Trying to improve but playing a little bit more conservatively not being as risky as they were last season.

We couldn't kick up field, go longer than 40 yards, save our life last year. This year, you know, some of that has gone away when you have a guy like grammatico can kick a 57. So now you don't have to make the choice between punting and a fourth and 15. Right. It is tough to see us. Not, I still would like to see that edge on some of the fourth and shorts, uh, especially in the red zone, show a little more edge down there, a little more competitiveness, but we still have done things like the fake field goal, the onside kick that you saw.

Our throat makes a two score game and no looking back from there of, you know, We're pressing. They're just feeling confident at that point and couldn't muster anything in the second half. So

The offense is in a good spot, or do you feel like, like they played exactly how they should have played against that Miami defense, because we felt like the Miami defense was a vulnerability, or do we think that like, there are genuine concerns with our offense? It feels like our offense right now. Starts and stops with Byron Brown. And if he's not, if he's not playing, we're not scoring.
red_1_09-24-2024_181152:I'd say both a little bit of column a little bit of column B, right. I think the offense did. Better in the passing game, driving the football against Miami. I think we still have pretty big problems in red zone in particular and running the football with someone besides Byron Brown. Our offensive line wasn't making holes. Wasn't, wasn't doing much there. So I think there's still some glaring things that need to improve. The good news is each week from here on out, the competition gets. Easier and easier. it's, it's also the opposite of that is each week is probably our biggest game of the season. You know, the next two, particularly with Tulane and Memphis, you, you win those both, you're in the driver's seat for winning the conference, you at least split them, you're in pretty good shape. You kind of got to play a perfect season from there on out, but there isn't really anyone else talent wise who matches up with you. If you lose them both, uh, your season's essentially over. Um,

We've got some folks to look forward to next season. We don't usually talk recruiting here, but. You got some folks who were up there that we lose them. And I don't know that we have the depth behind them right now. I mean, we've got some pretty senior guys on the offensive line who comes behind them, right? I'm pretty sure Lofton,

Would say we still haven't played our best. You know, we haven't put together just clicking everywhere all offensively and we're still managed to hang in there for two halves. And then you've seen two halves of football where we've just shown our ass and gotten demolished. I'd say the biggest thing is consistency, right? Like you want, you want to start your season now essentially with put all that to bed, don't worry about. The ups and downs of that bring the intensity you were able to bring, but we still got to execute better. And hopefully we can against worse competition, essentially.
