Let's talk about the addiction. We don't even realize that we are hooked on and it can torpedo our manifestations. And that's control. I know, a lot of times when we think about addictions, we think about bad habits or substances, but control can actually be an addiction. You know that feeling when everything needs to go your way, in your timing, according to your plan, and if it doesn't, your nervous system short-circuits and your inner manifesting magic just fizzles right on out. Yeah, that is a control addiction. It can be sneaky because it can disguise itself as responsibility, ambition, organization. It tells you, if you don't handle it, who's gonna? You know, if I don't do it, who will? It whispers that you can't trust anyone else, that you have to make sure it's done the right way, and when you have that feeling, that translates to not even trusting the universe. The fact of the matter is is that control and manifestation do not mix. The more tightly you grip the outcome, the more the energy of receiving slips through your fingers. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything you're supposed to to manifest, but nothing is happening, if you have been scripting and visualizing vision, boarding your heart out, and you still feel stuck like nothing is coming to fruition, then this episode is your soul's gentle wake-up call, because we're going to unpack why control is actually blocking your biggest manifestation, how to start releasing it without your nervous system freaking out, and what surrender really looks like in practice. So grab your favorite drink, cozy up and let's get started.
Speaker 1:First we have to talk about the root of the issue. Why do we want to try to control everything? It could be because we learned through trauma, conditioning or just life being life, that control feels safer than trust. Maybe you had to grow up too fast. Maybe plans falling apart meant pain or chaos or instability. So that brilliant, beautiful brain of yours learned that managing every detail was how you stayed safe. So control became a survival strategy, and that doesn't mean it's a flaw or a failure. It just means that your inner system was doing its best to feel safe.
Speaker 1:The problem is manifestation is about energy, and the energy of control is constriction. It says I don't trust, I don't believe I need to force this. Where manifestation requires expansion, I trust, I'm opened, I'm aligned with receiving. Control is like clenching your fist around sand, and the tighter you hold, the more it's going to slip through your fingers. But when you open your hands, the sand settles, it stays, you receive. This is how this control addiction can show up in your life, so you can bring awareness to it and then move past it.
Speaker 1:If you micromanage your manifestations like did I visualize long enough? Should I script again? Maybe I should change the script. Maybe you're obsessing over timelines, saying things like it has to happen by next month, or else I need it right now. Why isn't it here yet? It should be here by now. You could possibly rewrite your goals every week, trying to make the universe move faster.
Speaker 1:Or you say you're surrendering, but secretly you're checking the tracking number of your manifestation every five minutes. And when I say like the tracking number, you're looking at your bank account. You're looking at you know where is this abundance going to come from? Like you're constantly checking it out. This is exhausting, because your nervous system really is stuck in this hypervigilance and your energy, which really should be flowing freely towards your desire, is tangled up in fear.
Speaker 1:Now there's a lot of common misconceptions around letting go, and that's what makes it hard to surrender, because a lot of times you think letting go means giving up, that if you release control, you're just sitting around waiting for magic to drop in your lap, and that's not it. Letting go isn't passive. It's one of the most energetically active things you can do. It means you have done your part and now you're going to align your energy, you're going to open your heart and you're going to trust that your desires are in motion, even if you can't see them yet. Them yet. Surrender isn't weakness. It is part of your power. It is your power to say I know that I am creating my 3D. I know I'm creating my reality. I believe in my power. So here are some ways to start letting go without spiraling, because I talked about how your nervous system gets all shaky when you start to let go, because it wants to keep you safe.
Speaker 1:Your brain, your subconscious, has programs and those programs want to keep you safe. But you want to rewire that because you want something new, and so it's always going to feel uncertain because that subconscious of yours does not like new stuff. Even if the stuff that is going on in your life right now in your 3D reality isn't serving you and doesn't have the desires that you want, it still feels safe to your brain. So your brain's going to stick with the safety over the wanting. You have to make your way out. You're going to get out of that comfort zone. Here are some ways that you can do it so you can ease that subconscious mind into it. It's still going to feel uncomfortable but it's not going to make you get paralyzed or shut down.
Speaker 1:The first one is to create an I trust ritual. Every morning say out loud I trust what I desire is on the way in divine timing in the highest form. But don't just say it. You need to feel it in your body, really feel it. See if you have some resistance coming up. If you have that resistance, then gently tell yourself it is okay, it is safe to trust. The second one you can do is just limit the obsessing. Maybe you just pick one time a day to check in on your desire, to journal it, to visualize it, to feel into it, and then you let it go. But you don't babysit your manifestation all day. You're not hyper-focused or hyper-obsessing over it not being here. But if just doing it and letting it go feels like too much, you can pick that one time a day check-in.
Speaker 1:Another thing you can do is celebrate delays. When something doesn't happen in your timing, say thank you. The delay is divine redirection. I'm going to tell you how this really works out here in a second, how it worked out just about two weeks ago in my life. But, thank you, you can reframe that pause as a protection.
Speaker 1:Another thing that you can do is find your anchors. What makes you feel safe without control? Is that meditation? Is it movement? Is it music? Is it nature? Using these things to anchor your nervous system when surrender feels scary. Finding those things that bring in safety while allowing you to let go of control. And you can use this affirmation or you can go create your own affirmation. I have a free affirmation generator. I do believe that having a unique affirmation that speaks to your needs is far more powerful than generic affirmations. I'll link it in the show notes so you can go get that today. It's going to walk you through the whole process and it's going to generate a custom affirmation for you, but one that you could use is control is not safety. Trust is my power. So you can start there, or you can go get your custom one to use, using that affirmation through the day to realign your nervous system.
Speaker 1:So I want to go back to celebrating delays, because this two weeks ago I went wedding dress shopping with my daughter and I promised her I was going to buy her wedding dress. I am the kind of person that I like to pay things outright. I don't like to put things on credit. When you go buy a wedding dress, usually they want like 60% down and then you pay the rest when the dress comes in. I'm the kind of person I like to pay it all at once. Well, I was waiting for a bank transfer because I wanted to make this purchase out of a specific account. So I was waiting for a bank transfer and the day came to go shopping for wedding dresses and the bank transfer hadn't gone through. I told my daughter okay, let's go find your dress and then, as soon as the bank transfer goes through, I'll just go back to the shop buy the dress. It's not a big deal, just a couple of days of a delay. Well, we went to the first bridal boutique. She found a dress that she thought was her dress. She said yes to the dress there, but we had another appointment set up that we couldn't cancel. So we were like we're going to go to the other appointment. We're going to try on dresses now that we know the style she wants. All the things.
Speaker 1:Had I had the money, had the transfer went through, I would have automatically purchased that first dress at the first shop, because that's just how I am. They'd have been like, hey, how do you want to pay for it? I want to pay for it all at once. Here you go, swipe the card, bam done. Well, it's a good thing. There was a delay and the money wasn't there, because she really found the dress she really really wanted at the second bridal boutique, the one that made her shake, that made the tears come, like she just knew this was the dress. And so, had I had the bank transfer and had it been successfully done in the time frame that I wanted it done in bank transfer, and had it been successfully done in the time frame that I wanted it done in, we would have bought the wrong dress or we would have had to go through a whole lot to maybe refund the first dress so she could get the second dress I don't know, who knows. Glad I didn't have to deal with it because there was a delay, and that is okay. It was a blessing in disguise, as they like to say. So sometimes, when things don't happen, that is okay. It was a blessing in disguise, as they like to say. So sometimes, when things don't happen, that's okay, it's divine redirection, because she really did think at that first store that was going to be her dress and then she completely forgot about the first dress that she thought she was going to say yes to when she put on the other dress.
Speaker 1:Letting go of control, I want you to really think of manifestation like ordering at your favorite restaurant. I think about it like this all the time when I'm trying to let go of control. So you place your order, whatever that order is your desire, you trust the chef in the back knows how to cook it. You're not running in the kitchen every five minutes to see how they're chopping the onions. You know how much olive oil they're using. You don't do that. You don't doubt that whatever you place your order for is going to come to you. You just wait. You trust you enjoy your appetizer, which is your current reality, knowing that the main course is coming. But if you storm in the kitchen, if you demand to cook it yourself, if you're yelling at the chef, you're not going to get what you really wanted. You're not going to enjoy that meal. So really, I just need you to let the chef cook. Okay, just let the chef cook. Your order is coming.
Speaker 1:I want to remind you that letting go is a practice, as is everything else.
Speaker 1:You have to practice it.
Speaker 1:If control is an addiction, you're not going to make a one-time decision and all is going to be well. You're going to have to practice. You're going to have to surrender. Sometimes maybe you're going to have to surrender the same desire 50 times, and that is okay. Each time it gets easier. Your trust, muscles grow, your energy is going to become more magnetic and you're going to find that the less you try to control, the more naturally things flow. So I just want to remind you that you're not failing. You're simply being invited to trust deeper.
Speaker 1:Remember this control addiction is something that we've gotten from our programming in our life, from some sort of experience. And remember that restaurant, that your desires are on your way, not because you force them, but because you're aligned with them. You placed your order. It's coming. Start with one thing today one place that you can breathe, that you can soften, that you can say I let go to receive, because the universe is already conspiring in your favor. So keep your heart open and your energy clean and remember that it is okay to practice doesn't mean you're a failure. The biggest part is that awareness piece. Now you're aware and now you can move forward. I'll chat with you next week.
