Food has a way of speaking directly to our souls, and few understand this language better than William "Will B" Broussard. In this heartwarming conversation, Will takes us on a journey through his culinary philosophy that transforms meals into community-building experiences.

Growing up watching his grandmother prepare soul-stirring church meals that welcomed everyone to the table, Will absorbed more than just recipes—he inherited a vision of how food creates connection. "The core of everything that I do is about bringing everybody together," he explains, describing how his cooking evolved from a practical skill into a passionate mission to share joy and hospitality.

What makes Will's approach special is his belief that food should carry the cook's energy and intention. "I want you to get a taste of my energy," he says, describing how his joyful spirit infuses everything he prepares. This philosophy explains why his food captivates before the first bite: "You can smell it before you even taste it. You can taste it while you're smelling it." For Will, cooking isn't just about feeding people; it's about creating spaces where strangers become family around the shared experience of a delicious meal.

Whether you're a food enthusiast or someone who values authentic connection, Will's perspective offers a refreshing reminder of how the simple act of cooking "big enough for everybody" can transform our communities. Experience his culinary magic yourself at Taco Tuesdays at Shreveport Platinum Lounge, and discover how a plate of food served with intention can become a powerful vehicle for joy and belonging.

Speaker 1:

Our generation grew up. Whatever is on the stove and whatever time I cook it, you don't want it, you don't eat it.

Speaker 2:

That's it. That's it. Welcome back, guys, to to Experiencing Amazing Transformations. I am here with Mr Will B hey, oh my God. And the food that he cooks. You can tell it comes from the soul. It smells phenomenal. You can smell it before you even taste it. You can taste it while you're smelling it. It smells so good. So tell the people a little bit about yourself.

Speaker 1:

My name is William Broussard. I was born in Houston, texas, but I grew up here in Shreveport, louisiana, musician, teacher, just jack of all trades. The core of everything that I do is about bringing everybody together.

Speaker 2:

Wonderful, wonderful. So what brought along the passion for cooking?

Speaker 1:

The passion for cooking came from watching my grandmothers On my dad's side. They're very musical inclined, very church oriented. So at the church, big soul food meal enough for everybody on the stove to come by and eat, family, friends, whoever, everybody just come over, eat, sit back, kick back, have a good time. So I enjoyed the atmosphere that she created through cooking and I enjoyed the concentration and the focus that she did on making a good meal. She didn't just cook the cook, she cooked from soul. She really made soul food and so I just took from that. She really made soul food and so I just took from there. I used it for myself, at first being selfish, because I want to eat.

Speaker 2:

I want to cook for me, but it turned to just me cooking big meals.

Speaker 1:

Enough of the meal to invite everybody over to have a good time with my family, friends, everybody. I don't even have to know you. You're walking down the street. Hey, we're cooking up. Come eat down the street.

Speaker 2:

Hey, we cook enough I mean, I love that as well. So what do you want people to get from you when they're, when they're experiencing you? The food, your atmosphere?

Speaker 1:

I want you to also get a taste of my energy. I'm a very joyful person. I'm a very joyful person. I want to spread my happiness. Um, you could be having the worst day. I'm the the type of person if a brick wall spoke to me, I'm going to speak back. I'm not going to ask why a brick wall is speaking, I just make sure I do my part. You never know what just saying hello can do to somebody. And then, like I said, for me, food is the way to my heart. So I figure, if I spread it this way, cook a big meal everybody, everybody come over, just feel the love yes

Speaker 2:

yes, ma'am so what all do you cook everything, everything so you, grill you cook soul food, you just yes, ma'am, I like to eat okay, I like to eat.

Speaker 1:

Okay and um, when I was younger, you know how well how our generation grew up. Whatever is on the stove and whatever time I cook it you, you don't want it, you don't eat, that's it.

Speaker 2:

That's it. You know what I mean?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I got tired of waiting. You know what? I'm saying I got tired of waiting and maybe it was a dish that I didn't like, and I'm like you know what? How'd you do this? How'd you fry that? How'd you season it? I was ready to eat, but I made sure when I cooked that I always just cooked big. We was big family and I made sure I cooked enough for everybody. Called the family over, called my friends over everybody. Just come over eat, sit back, have a good time.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that is incredible.
