In this episode, we travel to the backroads and coastal highways of South Carolina to dissect the staggering, chaotic crimes of Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins. Standing at just 5'3", Gaskins was underestimated, yet he operated under a monstrous, self-styled philosophy he called his "Serious Mind" to become one of the most prolific serial killers in American history.
Gaskins defied standard criminal profiling by splitting his horrific career into distinct categories: from the impulsive "coastal killings" of hitchhikers and strangers to the calculated executions of people within his own social circle. But his reign of terror didn't stop behind bars.
His story is a chilling exploration of a severe inferiority complex transformed into a toxic obsession with absolute control. This episode discusses severe psychological manipulation, torture, and graphic violence. Listener discretion is heavily advised.

If you want to drink with me, you’ll need aged rum, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters.
Palmetto
- 2 oz Aged Rum
- 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
- 2 dashes Orange Bitters
- Orange twist for garnish
In a mixing glass, combine the aged rum, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters with ice. Stir well until perfectly chilled. Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass, express the oils of an orange twist over the drink, and drop it in.
