In each episode we hear from artists and creatives who share their inspiration for their work and its wider impact. These conversations about transformative artistic practices show the ways that art can be a catalyst for healing and change.
How do we change the world? One artist at a time.
Art Heals All Wounds
Why Supporting the Arts Matters Now More Than Ever
I’m letting you know that the current season of Art Heals All Wounds—focused on arts in medicine—has come to an end and that the podcast will be going on a temporary break. My increased workload and other creative commitments necessitate some time away, but I intend to use this pause to return with renewed perspective and fresh ideas.
This is a challenging climate for the arts in the United States. Recent threats to arts funding is resulting in the rescinding of grants for many organizations, including some previously featured on the show. I hope listeners can support the local arts organizations whenever possible. I also encourage you to harness creativity as a tool for community connection and personal well-being.
Please send in suggestions and ideas for future episodes through the podcast’s website. Thank you to all of the listeners of this show! More to come!

Pam Uzzell [00:00:12]:
Do you believe art can change the world? So do I! On this show, we meet artists whose work is doing just that. Welcome to Art Heals All Wounds. I'm your host, Pam Uzzell. This is a short episode to let you know that the season on arts in medicine is ending. At this time, I'll be taking a break on the podcast. Not forever, but for a few months. My day job has gotten very busy in a good way, but I don't have any kind of work life balance.
Pam Uzzell [00:01:08]:
I also have some other creative projects that are taking up a significant amount of any free time that I do have. I'm also taking a break for the sake of the podcast. I'd love to come back with fresh eyes and ears after my break. If you have any ideas for something you'd like to hear, reach out and let me know. You can always reach me through my website, arthealsallwoundspodcast.com. I truly love this show and want it to be the best it can be. It would be dishonest of me to say that the political situation here in The US isn't affecting me. I could talk for hours about things that have happened in the last few months that keep me up at night.
Pam Uzzell [00:01:55]:
But since this is an arts podcast, I'll focus on that. For a country so wealthy, The United States has never really funded the arts in the way that it could. Now with the threat of completely defunding the National Endowment for the Arts, grants that have been promised to arts organizations and individuals are being rescinded. Some organizations that have been featured on this show are among those losing funding. But beyond that, almost any arts and culture center where I've attended exhibits and performances has had grant money rescinded. It's horrible to be processing what it means when an administration represses artistic and creative expression in a society. What do we do when this happens? I don't know. But I'm hoping that all of us will lean into creativity even more.
Pam Uzzell [00:02:57]:
For anyone who has the means, become a supporting member of the arts and cultural centers in your community that you value. I hope we can all use creativity to help manage our personal anxieties and also as means of connection and strengthening our communities. I know that many of you listening are outside of The United States. And you know what? I'm so grateful for that. I really love thinking about all of the creative people in the world working away, making art. Thanks to everyone for listening. Please do send thoughts or suggestions you have about the show for when it starts up again. Thanks for listening, and more to come.
