“Father’s Day at Thriving Hills - The Words of Our Father”

It’s summer at Thriving Hills, and we are taking a look at the practical things that
can either add joy to our lives, or take it away. One of the primary ways our influence in a person’s life is shown or given is through the power of our words. We tend to become what the most important (and influential) people in our lives say we will become. Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Even our Father in Heaven modeled the importance of our words and what it looks like in our lives, when on two different occasions, He spoke over Jesus: “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17 and 17:5 NIV). Likewise, we too can choose to speak life over people with words of acceptance, affection, and affirmation.
