The Success of the Mission with Army Combat Veteran and Former Platoon Leader James Fitzgerald
T’Liza Kiel welcomes James Fitzgerald to the Boots on the Ground Podcast.
James is a nine-year veteran of the United States Army, served as an Infantryman, and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. During his service, he received the Purple Heart and was medically retired in 2014 due to injuries sustained during combat in Afghanistan.
After his discharge, he interned at the White House with First Lady Michelle Obama on Joining Forces, an initiative connecting service members, veterans, and their families with public and private sector resources in education, employment, and wellness. He also served with The Mission Continues through the Fellowship program and as a New York City Platoon Leader between 2015-16.
James discusses his experiences in the military, his advocacy work for veteran and military families, and interning at the White House.
