More than 500 million learning related"},{"startTime":126.36999999999999,"endTime":129.85,"body":"videos alone are viewed on YouTube"},{"startTime":129.85,"endTime":133.57,"body":"daily. In fact, back in 2022, digital video time among"},{"startTime":133.57,"endTime":137.21,"body":"US adults nearly caught up to TV time. US"},{"startTime":137.21,"endTime":140.97,"body":"adults spend an average of 3 hours and 2 minutes per day watching"},{"startTime":140.97,"endTime":144.37,"body":"digital videos and 3 hours and 7 minutes watching"},{"startTime":144.69,"endTime":148.32999999999998,"body":"normal TV. Nearly half 45% of all"},{"startTime":148.32999999999998,"endTime":152.09,"body":"YouTube video viewership takes place on TVs"},{"startTime":152.09,"endTime":155.89,"body":"now, up from 30% way back in 2020. So not only"},{"startTime":155.89,"endTime":159.57,"body":"are we watching it on our devices, we're actually watching it on our"},{"startTime":159.57,"endTime":163.32999999999998,"body":"TV screens. This is a big deal. I know a lot of"},{"startTime":163.32999999999998,"endTime":167.04999999999998,"body":"people still find navigating YouTube on their TV difficult, but I know with my"},{"startTime":167.04999999999998,"endTime":170.41,"body":"TV now I can just speak to YouTube and it will bring up a range"},{"startTime":170.41,"endTime":173.93,"body":"of videos and I can navigate from there. What does this mean for you? You"},{"startTime":173.93,"endTime":177.25,"body":"need to think different, that's for sure. Things have changed"},{"startTime":177.25,"endTime":181.04999999999998,"body":"drastically over the last few years. You need to move forward in"},{"startTime":181.04999999999998,"endTime":183.89,"body":"your business into a new era of entertainment,"},{"startTime":185.39,"endTime":188.82999999999998,"body":"or edutainment as it's well known. And there is other tools available. But what have you got that"},{"startTime":265.77000000000004,"endTime":269.57000000000005,"body":"you can bring up to date or reshoot and get up there and start"},{"startTime":269.57000000000005,"endTime":272.769,"body":"making money? So let's have a little bit of a look further into understanding the"},{"startTime":272.769,"endTime":276.369,"body":"YouTube's monetization landscape. There's a range of"},{"startTime":276.369,"endTime":279.84900000000005,"body":"different programs available through the YouTube Partner Program."},{"startTime":280.009,"endTime":283.48900000000003,"body":"First of all is advertising Resonue got tongue tied"},{"startTime":283.48900000000003,"endTime":287.129,"body":"advertising revenue. As a YouTube partner, you'll be able to earn"},{"startTime":287.129,"endTime":290.92900000000003,"body":"revenue from overlay, display and video ads that run on your channel. And"},{"startTime":290.92900000000003,"endTime":294.009,"body":"they're the ones we see all the time. Obviously you can go to YouTube Premium"},{"startTime":294.009,"endTime":297.529,"body":"and turn a lot of that off, but most people watch YouTube for free."},{"startTime":297.769,"endTime":301.38,"body":"So every time ads play, even if they don't click on them, you, you get"},{"startTime":301.38,"endTime":304.98,"body":"paid. If your channel's been monetized, you have YouTube"},{"startTime":304.98,"endTime":308.58000000000004,"body":"Premium revenue. YouTube Premium, previously known"},{"startTime":308.58000000000004,"endTime":312.3,"body":"as YouTube Red. And I just talked about paying for that is a way"},{"startTime":312.3,"endTime":316.02000000000004,"body":"for paying members to watch videos ad free. You receive a cut"},{"startTime":316.02000000000004,"endTime":319.82000000000005,"body":"of their membership fee when they watch your videos. So even if you're not"},{"startTime":319.82000000000005,"endTime":323.62,"body":"getting paid for the actual ads in your videos, you're getting paid"},{"startTime":323.62,"endTime":327.42,"body":"from the membership cost that they give. We have channel memberships. With channel"},{"startTime":327.42,"endTime":331.26000000000005,"body":"memberships, you can offer exclusive perks, rewards and benefits to viewers who"},{"startTime":331.26000000000005,"endTime":335.0,"body":"choose to pay for a subscription and become paid members of your channel. So"},{"startTime":335.0,"endTime":338.68,"body":"a bit like Patreon and all of those different tools, having a membership"},{"startTime":338.68,"endTime":342.08000000000004,"body":"site, you can do that within YouTube. When you reach a"},{"startTime":342.08000000000004,"endTime":345.92,"body":"monetization level, you can set different membership levels and what special"},{"startTime":345.92,"endTime":349.76000000000005,"body":"perks each level gets access to. This is great because the platform"},{"startTime":349.76000000000005,"endTime":353.56,"body":"takes care of it and drives traffic directly to your membership. You have the merch"},{"startTime":353.56,"endTime":357.16,"body":"shelf. You can now start selling branded merchandise to your viewers"},{"startTime":357.16,"endTime":360.95000000000005,"body":"directly through YouTube using your very own merchandising shelf. It will"},{"startTime":360.95000000000005,"endTime":364.07000000000005,"body":"show up on your video page. So you see your video and you see the"},{"startTime":364.07000000000005,"endTime":367.83000000000004,"body":"merchandising shelf right below it. Obviously I move around from time to time,"},{"startTime":367.83000000000004,"endTime":371.59000000000003,"body":"but it's there. So you can do T shirts and all sorts of stuff."},{"startTime":371.75,"endTime":375.47,"body":"You have YouTube Brand Connect. Through Brand Connect, YouTube connects"},{"startTime":375.47,"endTime":379.03000000000003,"body":"creators to brands looking to run branded content strategies."},{"startTime":379.27000000000004,"endTime":383.11,"body":"So you might have a large specific audience that an organization, say,"},{"startTime":383.11,"endTime":386.79,"body":"like Coca Cola or Pepsi wants to reach, and they might do"},{"startTime":386.79,"endTime":390.51000000000005,"body":"some branded content with you. And you'll see people like Mr. Beast and those"},{"startTime":390.51000000000005,"endTime":394.25,"body":"sort of people doing these collabs all the time. Essentially, this service"},{"startTime":394.25,"endTime":397.85,"body":"is trying to make it easier for brands to find YouTubers that they can advertise"},{"startTime":397.85,"endTime":401.17,"body":"through and for content creators to get sponsorship deals."},{"startTime":401.57000000000005,"endTime":405.33000000000004,"body":"So again, all these things become available to you as you build your channel."},{"startTime":405.41,"endTime":409.25,"body":"What do you need to get into YouTube partners? It's pretty specific and"},{"startTime":409.25,"endTime":412.93,"body":"you will see it underneath. When you go into YouTube Studio online,"},{"startTime":412.93,"endTime":415.57000000000005,"body":"you'll see there's an area that says monetize. You can go in there and it'll"},{"startTime":415.57000000000005,"endTime":418.93,"body":"actually show you which things you've reached and what you need to do to get"},{"startTime":419.11,"endTime":422.71000000000004,"body":"for your specific area. But the basics are you need to live in a country"},{"startTime":422.71000000000004,"endTime":426.31,"body":"or region where the program is available and Australia is definitely one, so is usa,"},{"startTime":426.31,"endTime":430.03000000000003,"body":"uk, et cetera. Have a clean slate with no community guidelines, strikes against"},{"startTime":430.03000000000003,"endTime":433.51000000000005,"body":"your channel. Play within the rules. Have 4,000 public watch"},{"startTime":433.51000000000005,"endTime":437.23,"body":"hours or more in the last 12 months. So you do need to"},{"startTime":437.23,"endTime":440.63,"body":"build your traffic up. So you need to put good content on there for free"},{"startTime":440.63,"endTime":444.35,"body":"to build that up. Have a thousand subscribers or more. This is"},{"startTime":444.35,"endTime":448.20000000000005,"body":"quite achievable. You can need to link your Google AdSense accounts"},{"startTime":448.20000000000005,"endTime":451.84000000000003,"body":"to your channel and of course you need to be reviewed by Google to make"},{"startTime":451.84000000000003,"endTime":455.04,"body":"sure that you're suitable. So let's have a look at some of the things that"},{"startTime":455.04,"endTime":458.6,"body":"I've learned over the last year in building a good"},{"startTime":458.6,"endTime":462.44,"body":"YouTube channel. First of all, the most popular way to make money is"},{"startTime":462.44,"endTime":465.96000000000004,"body":"actually to get money from ads. That's the first step. Once you start getting"},{"startTime":465.96000000000004,"endTime":469.16,"body":"monetized. Getting money from having ads is the place to start."},{"startTime":469.40000000000003,"endTime":473.16,"body":"Obviously it grows from there. As you get more traffic, you get more opportunities. It's"},{"startTime":473.16,"endTime":476.52000000000004,"body":"easy to do and it pays very well in certain fields."},{"startTime":476.84000000000003,"endTime":479.96000000000004,"body":"Some fields pay higher than others, or some key"},{"startTime":480.04,"endTime":483.84000000000003,"body":"phrases, et cetera, pay higher than others. For example, Craft versus"},{"startTime":483.84000000000003,"endTime":487.64000000000004,"body":"Finance has more paid ads. So you get paid a higher percentage of"},{"startTime":487.64000000000004,"endTime":491.32000000000005,"body":"money for those sorts of ads. You need to focus in on"},{"startTime":491.64000000000004,"endTime":495.32000000000005,"body":"creating at least 100 quality videos to"},{"startTime":495.32000000000005,"endTime":498.96000000000004,"body":"build your traffic. 100 is like the basic number. It's a bit like writing articles"},{"startTime":498.96000000000004,"endTime":502.72,"body":"for your website. 100 videos, you're starting to build quite a solid chunk"},{"startTime":502.72,"endTime":506.18,"body":"of content around a topic. You can just keep creating"},{"startTime":506.42,"endTime":510.06,"body":"videos that get views and YouTube takes care of the rest. So all you need"},{"startTime":510.06,"endTime":513.62,"body":"to do is create content. YouTube will worry about the ads and all that sort"},{"startTime":513.62,"endTime":516.58,"body":"of stuff. So it's really good in a way because you don't have to paste"},{"startTime":516.58,"endTime":520.26,"body":"content or put code on your web page or whatever it happens to be. One"},{"startTime":520.26,"endTime":523.94,"body":"thing I would say is don't stop, keep going and improve your videos"},{"startTime":523.94,"endTime":527.38,"body":"every time you do one. Incremental change is better than"},{"startTime":527.38,"endTime":531.1800000000001,"body":"perfection. Don't try and get it right at the start. Start shooting videos,"},{"startTime":531.34,"endTime":535.02,"body":"see how they go. Improve on what you add into the videos each time"},{"startTime":535.26,"endTime":539.0600000000001,"body":"and make a better video each time you do a video. You can"},{"startTime":539.0600000000001,"endTime":542.58,"body":"leverage YouTube's other income streams. There is a range of things, so there's"},{"startTime":542.58,"endTime":545.82,"body":"methods like you can do licensing, crowdfunding, and affiliate marketing."},{"startTime":545.98,"endTime":549.46,"body":"Licensing your videos out essentially means giving other media platforms or"},{"startTime":549.46,"endTime":552.78,"body":"organizations the right to use your content for a fee."},{"startTime":553.1,"endTime":556.4200000000001,"body":"And they can contact you directly or it might come through a"},{"startTime":556.4200000000001,"endTime":560.16,"body":"marketplace. Online affiliate marketing is where you have links that lead to"},{"startTime":560.16,"endTime":563.5600000000001,"body":"products on Amazon and places like that. And you get a percentage of every sale."},{"startTime":563.5600000000001,"endTime":565.9200000000001,"body":"And you can put them, you can talk about them in your video and then"},{"startTime":565.9200000000001,"endTime":569.64,"body":"you can link to them in the description. And I'm sure you've all seen"},{"startTime":569.64,"endTime":573.36,"body":"that many times. And also you can link to programs that you sell or"},{"startTime":573.36,"endTime":576.9200000000001,"body":"others sell or ones you support. So you can always look"},{"startTime":576.9200000000001,"endTime":580.72,"body":"at. Even if you're not making income yet from advertising,"},{"startTime":580.72,"endTime":584.36,"body":"as in, you haven't got to that level, you can still recommend products."},{"startTime":584.52,"endTime":587.96,"body":"That's okay. It's not going to affect your ability to meet these programs."},{"startTime":588.49,"endTime":592.1700000000001,"body":"So how do we maximize Revenue through viewer engagement."},{"startTime":592.25,"endTime":596.09,"body":"You need to build a loyal viewer base. This is essential."},{"startTime":596.09,"endTime":599.09,"body":"You want people who are going to keep coming back to watch your stuff. A"},{"startTime":599.09,"endTime":602.33,"body":"bit like when we're on stage, you want people to come back in the room"},{"startTime":602.33,"endTime":605.89,"body":"to hear you speak, wherever you are, because you're saying something"},{"startTime":605.89,"endTime":609.69,"body":"slightly different or they're learning something new from you. First thing you need to"},{"startTime":609.69,"endTime":613.37,"body":"do is give them what they want, see what works, see what's getting the most"},{"startTime":613.37,"endTime":617.09,"body":"traffic, see what, and then do more of that. Okay? Learn from the"},{"startTime":617.09,"endTime":619.85,"body":"success. Now, you have to do a lot before you start to see the patterns,"},{"startTime":619.85,"endTime":623.61,"body":"but get stuck into it and find out what's really appealing to"},{"startTime":623.61,"endTime":627.21,"body":"your audience or find your audience. Focus on a"},{"startTime":627.21,"endTime":630.9300000000001,"body":"niche audience rather than a keyword. Yes, you might"},{"startTime":630.9300000000001,"endTime":634.57,"body":"do say, like, I'm focusing in on Canva a bit because I like using Canva"},{"startTime":634.57,"endTime":638.2900000000001,"body":"and doing different stuff. But I'm looking at my audience as solopreneurs,"},{"startTime":638.53,"endTime":642.25,"body":"speakers and people like that. So I'm focusing on how they would use Canva"},{"startTime":642.25,"endTime":646.0,"body":"to produce posters, ebooks, things like that. Talk one to one. When you're"},{"startTime":646.0,"endTime":648.96,"body":"doing your videos, remember, it's only one person watching. It's not going up on a"},{"startTime":648.96,"endTime":652.6800000000001,"body":"TV in a lounge room, necessarily for 100 people. It's more"},{"startTime":652.6800000000001,"endTime":656.32,"body":"likely to be one person watching a specific video. Make it"},{"startTime":656.32,"endTime":660.16,"body":"interesting and give them what you promised. If your"},{"startTime":660.16,"endTime":663.9200000000001,"body":"thumbnail says that you're going to talk about this topic, then that's"},{"startTime":663.9200000000001,"endTime":667.08,"body":"the first thing you need to be talking about and go straight into your video"},{"startTime":667.08,"endTime":670.0,"body":"and give them what they're looking for. If you say you're going to do one"},{"startTime":670.0,"endTime":673.8100000000001,"body":"thing and then you talk about something else, they're gone, okay? That's just the"},{"startTime":673.8100000000001,"endTime":677.57,"body":"way the audience is. Short attention spans. That's pretty simple, isn't it?"},{"startTime":677.57,"endTime":681.41,"body":"We all get that these days. Branding matters. So pick a style and"},{"startTime":681.41,"endTime":684.33,"body":"stick with it. Find what works for you and stick with it. Use the same"},{"startTime":684.33,"endTime":687.89,"body":"fonts, use the same styles, colors, branding,"},{"startTime":688.13,"endTime":691.89,"body":"and people. Learn to recognize that it's you. Especially if you're"},{"startTime":691.89,"endTime":695.49,"body":"using your face on all the thumbnails. Try to improve every"},{"startTime":695.49,"endTime":699.22,"body":"video a little. As I said before, just little changes. Like in"},{"startTime":699.22,"endTime":702.86,"body":"my Canva videos, I started to put little titles at each section and"},{"startTime":703.02,"endTime":706.5400000000001,"body":"bits like that. Every time I try to do something just a little bit"},{"startTime":706.5400000000001,"endTime":710.22,"body":"better, a little bit clearer, and each time"},{"startTime":710.5400000000001,"endTime":714.0600000000001,"body":"I'm growing and learning skills as well. I didn't try and put titles on everything"},{"startTime":714.0600000000001,"endTime":717.5400000000001,"body":"when I first started. I learned how to do titles, then I added titles and"},{"startTime":717.5400000000001,"endTime":721.3000000000001,"body":"so on. And so forth. Go and watch some videos and this is what I"},{"startTime":721.3000000000001,"endTime":725.02,"body":"did when I first started building this again on how Mr. Beast has"},{"startTime":725.02,"endTime":728.26,"body":"built the number one YouTube channel in the world. There's quite a few channels where"},{"startTime":728.26,"endTime":731.84,"body":"they've taken bits of his interviews and things like that. Go and listen to"},{"startTime":731.84,"endTime":735.6,"body":"him. This guy is the best. And if you want to"},{"startTime":735.6,"endTime":738.9200000000001,"body":"learn, even though you don't do videos like him, you can learn from his thinking."},{"startTime":738.9200000000001,"endTime":742.64,"body":"He's very smart, he's very cluey, and it wouldn't matter what topic he"},{"startTime":742.64,"endTime":746.24,"body":"launched a channel on. As he said, if I go broke, I could start again"},{"startTime":746.24,"endTime":749.84,"body":"and within three years be where I am now because the knowledge is"},{"startTime":749.84,"endTime":753.32,"body":"applicable across all the different forms. So what are some"},{"startTime":753.32,"endTime":757.0400000000001,"body":"effective YouTube, SEO and content strategies that you can use to"},{"startTime":757.0400000000001,"endTime":760.14,"body":"make your videos show up more, get clicked More,"},{"startTime":760.14,"endTime":763.98,"body":"etc. Thumbnails are super important. The first thing you should do"},{"startTime":763.98,"endTime":767.78,"body":"is actually do your thumbnail before you do the video. Do the thumbnail and"},{"startTime":767.78,"endTime":771.22,"body":"then make sure that the video echoes what the thumbnail is talking about."},{"startTime":771.5400000000001,"endTime":775.38,"body":"Don't crowd the thumbnail. Keep it simple and easy to attract attention on the"},{"startTime":775.38,"endTime":779.02,"body":"screen. Remember, it's not a big picture, it's actually a really tiny"},{"startTime":779.02,"endTime":782.82,"body":"picture on the screen. So it has to appeal to people at that"},{"startTime":782.82,"endTime":786.58,"body":"size, not at A4 size. Fill in all the options. When uploading, go through"},{"startTime":794.08,"endTime":797.16,"body":"all the options on the upload page, go right down to the bottom and expand"},{"startTime":797.16,"endTime":800.32,"body":"it out fully and go right through that.
