The Smosh TNTL Tourny is going strong! The podcast was not, and is getting a much needed, and wanted, refresh!

Hello everybody and welcome back to anything but nothing the show about anything, and it means usually nothing, but it usually also means something to me. I'm your host, David Connolly, and I know it's been a long time since we did one of these, and because we're going over a bit of a revamp of the channel, the camera again again has turned itself to the side. We are off to a great start. Say hello to the mouse guitar in the background. Um, yes, it's been a long time since I've been doing one of these because, like I said, we had gone through a whole channel revamp, and I want to take this time to kind of tell you guys what the new format of these videos are going to be, slash podcasts. I will still be uploading these as podcasts, but they're gonna be different variations between the video versions and the podcast versions because some of the things in the podcast version won't work in the video, and vice versa as well. And I also want to take a little more time to talk about the try not to laugh tournament we have going on the channel for SmoshPit. The way we tried to revitalize the trying to laugh on this channel because those have been a long time. No, that they were getting a little bit stale for me. I wasn't having as much fun as I used to, and I wanted to inject a little more of the Fenrock flavor into those trying to laughs, and we have the tournament, and fortunately it hasn't done too good because I was also very late to making the videos because I was figuring things out, I was going through a little bit of a rut, and I I had to get back into the flow doing them, and we're back in the flow. So starting this week as well, we're gonna be back on track of doing them day next day, you know, because we're back on track, we're all caught up, everything's good to go. But before we jump into the trying to left, I want to talk about what we're gonna have going on here in the anything but nothing. This is gonna be a shorter episode because it's kind of a not so much a recap, it's more of a talking about what's going to change. What I always wanted these videos to be slash podcasts is I wanted it to be a variety video, a variety, like as I had the brain-brewing thing I was gonna go, but I'm just gonna stick with anything but nothing, just make it all in the one show. But I had the variety, I was trying to do a little seeds of variety here and there. Like I had the Fenrock news bit, I might bring that back too, but the news today is so I don't want to talk about news. So that bit for now is gonna be dropped. Unless, of course, I bring it back for like no nerdy news, not actual news. So that'd be a little more fruitious for what I wanted to do. So it's gonna be variety videos, but what it's also gonna be on here is is gonna be where you know the random videos I do a lot, like we have the we have the um casual readings, they're going to be on here. Um, when I have music videos, they are going to be debuting on these from um on these anything but nothings, and I also like speaking music stuff. I have a video the ones coming up, not the next one, the one after this next one. So the next next one, I guess you could say, is going to be much more musically based. Because along with these random videos, is we're bringing back the sketches. Now, the sketches themselves, they're not pure comedy. Um a while ago, I noticed I'm writing a book. I need to get back into doing that as well. But I like writing you know stories in my head, I like having fun and playing things out, so it's not just comedy on the bits, the bits are building up and telling a story of what goes on in my brain. Because for those who aren't aware, these sketches are basically the different realms in my brain, personified, talking amongst themselves, and you know, fighting amongst themselves per se, and also it's a dynamic of my different ideas, thoughts, everything coming together and talking to each other. If you haven't watched them, please go back and check it out. Each channel I've always done, I've always said I want to showcase my loves, and each of my loves have very different personalities. I love sports. In fact, the Giants just scored, yay! They just tied their freaking nationals again. Um, I love sports, I love gaming, I love freaking collecting things, I love playing music, I I'm spread all over the place. It's just my brain works all over the place, and I want to get the ideas. That's the problem that actually made me fall behind so many times. We talk about this at length many times, folks. Is I try to do too much because I want to do too much, I get overwhelmed, and I do nothing. And I've really been trying to really streamline and get that fixed, and I really think we're kind of we're getting there. I'm getting there, and we're getting close. But along with those sketches, they're gonna be something, you know. I guess the best way to say it is the sketch is gonna be something like this.

If we were the same person, you'd be told the gay right now. Dude, you still like joke in TFS. We've been waiting for the crap out because we're jokes are just stolen from TFS to begin with. Now we're gonna begin inside of me. Come again. Because it's a little story that I kind of need to help set something up. So if you haven't checked out the other sketches, go back and check them out. That random one will make much more sense. And the sketches are things that I think make much more sense for the video. Because while I try to do slightly different voices for them, it's going to be, you know, weird audibly, except for certain characters who are vastly different for those watch sketches. You already know. And yeah, and those are also what I want to do with these random videos, is still upload them on their own later on after the anything but nothing, as make them their own separate thing, because that makes sense. So, really, what's gonna be happening in these anything but nothings is the main topic. The next one I'll tell you guys now. The next top main topic is my top 10 Disneyland rides. A couple months ago, I went to Disneyland for the first time in 16 freaking years, and it's reawakened. My other love of I'm a Disney adult. I I can't deny it, I just am. I mean, I bought this souvenir when I was there because I played music and they brought the mouse guitar back as a item. It's not the best thingy, but it doesn't it plays okay if you get tuned. Tuning's a little pain in the butt because there's no trust rod or anything. That's so you kind of just get what you get. But I love this thing. This thing is you know, it's not tuned right now. I mean, it kind of is. No, it's not, and uh I love it. So the next video we're doing is going to be my top 10 Disneyland rides, but in that we will also have a sketch that's going to be delving us into the next you know, plethora, next saga, next season, whatever you want to say of the sketches themselves, and it's going to awaken something else of even more characters coming in. The characters in Waken there are not gonna be so much the sketch universe, they're gonna be for the music universe because the one after next is going to be I'm finally discussing going over my musical instrument collection. At least the ones I can find. Mainly it's gonna be mainly my guitar or string instrument collections. I might if I might bring all the occasions. Lots of them are still kind of packed away because you know I've about a couple years ago I moved and just never finished unpacking things because I'm actually gonna be swapping things around here again soon. Um, and maybe maybe down the line we'll also talk about my love for Godzilla. I love Godzilla. I love I love a lot. I'm a very lovable person. I love people, I love things, and yeah, so it's gonna be fun. I'm gonna have fun doing the show again. Um, I won't try to make it keep keep it weekly um once a week. Um, as long as I record ahead of time, especially this part, the talking bits is the fastest part in the content. It's the other stuff that's gonna take a big, especially the music videos. That's why music videos, I'm gonna try to make one of those at least once a month. Basically, every week it's gonna be. I might have the weekly sketches be weekly because they're not so much that they're easy to film, they're quicker, they're not very long, average, two minutes. If that man, you know what I'm talking about. We're all good for two minutes. Um, but yeah, so try to have a sketch at least at least a week, music video once a month. Uh, probably to that we'll have the extra stuff on top of this. Maybe once a month we'll have the music video, once a month we'll have a casual reading. Um, and then we'll go from there. Other random things I have planning. Maybe we just I didn't have one. We're not gonna force it in there either. So if we don't have something ready to do, I'm not gonna force it into the main thing that will be weekly is definitely the topics. Um, so I would didn't want to just make this one a dry talking about random things, talking about what's the future is. I do want to discuss what's been going on right now with the Trion to Laugh tournament and do a little recap here in the non-constrainting form of being in the Trion to Laugh video, so we can actually take some time and go over what I've done. So, pop on the screen here in one second. I'm gonna cough real quick. So, we're gonna take our time going through this and slowing up because I've kind of rambled it in a lot of the trying to laughs. Um, if you guys are watching this from the trying to laugh videos, please stick around with me on this one. Hopefully, this one brings in people that can see what I have going on the future for the future for this stuff. I just want to take my time and truly tell you guys what I have planned for this and what we're doing with the future. I've added tweak things here and there. Um, also heads up. If I make mistakes in the filming of the Trying to Laugh videos, do know I do watch them back again and correct any mistakes I made to make sure everything is accurate because I want I'm taking this seriously. I still need to reach out to see if I can reach out to some of them smosh, see if we got a team up and make an award for the winner. But real quick, I want to recap, I'm gonna go in line of what I have here because it kind of makes sense. And I line I realized on my chart I have here using my mics up. I'm also gonna probably start posting this, making the main overall tracker uh available for you guys to view. At all time, just link it in the trying to last. I'm also gonna start putting the rules in the trying to last. Not supposed to rules, just the points. I I say they're rules, it's the points. So the simplest point is this to get one point, say this person, say this shark's jersey is the person I'm trying to make laugh. You're choking on the stick. Ha ha! I would get a point. As a person trying to make the shark laugh, I would get a point. Now, if I say this, hello Fenrir, you don't come in here very much anymore. Please don't unplug anything while you're jumping around. How do you get to the window now? Are you trying to get to me? He's trying to get to me. I'll be back. He actually has perfect timing. Now watch, the next laugh would be if I the laugher and go into Fenrir here, the one I'm trying to make laugh. Fenrir, you're a cat and you are black, and you are small and you are fuzzy. You see, he's not laughing. Fenrir would then get four points added to his total because he didn't laugh because he doesn't think I'm funny. But I love him because he's my baby. See, he would get a point for making me laugh. So yeah, simple as that. If I make the shark laugh, I would get a point. But if Fenr not laughing on my joke, he would get four. I value the trying not to laugh part much higher than the making them laugh part because these are at the end of the day trying not to laugh videos. Well, good jump. Oh, that's why that monitor's been falling. He jumped on the video. So again, yes. I value the making, you know, restricting your laughter. If you're able to not laugh, I value that much higher as these are try not to laugh videos. So you deserve much more points. And let's face it, it doesn't happen very often, it's very hard. So you get more points. Now, every round, it was like say it's Courtney's turn, Courtney's on the bench, and throughout that round, that is one round, after Courtney's round has ended, I would pick my favorite bit out of the group, and that person, whoever what was, or people, if there's multiple people out there, they would all get two points. I do reserve the right to not pick a favorite, though, if I don't feel any of the bits in a round were that good. That has happened one time in these first three or four episodes since we started this tournament. Is it I don't feel anyone's worthy of it? I will not award points. It's as simple as that. At the end of the video, for myself, I will have my favorite bit selected, and my favorite bit overall would get an additional two points from me. Just like with the last episode, thanks to the comments reminding me that Tommy's uh awkward brother bit deserved two more points. So Tommy actually ended up getting two points. Tommy, by the way, ran away with the MVP voting on that one. Um speaking of MVP, the voting is at the end of the video, I'll be posting polls on my community tab. In case you're wondering how I decided who to put on the top, is the top four finishers. They get on the bet the bit. Unfortunately, on YouTube polls, you only put four options. It's really stupid. I hate it. But the ones who dominate the videos get the most fun because they're more likely going to get votes. It's easier for you guys. But if you want to vote for somebody else, you can vote down below and you know, like the comments. I'll put the comments down. You guys can pick who you want. Try and buy the bases loaded with no outs. Crap baskets. Um, if you wanted to vote for themselves, you can still like it. And it just made if they have enough votes for that. I could tell, you know, just do quick maths, percentages are easy. Um, and I'll figure out, you know, if they want, if not, usually it's the ones who like that. Most of the time it's been Angela. Angela's been dominant. We'll get to the we'll get to the points. Angela's been dominating this tournament so far. I mean, it's only four episodes in. But that whoever wins that MVP will get an additional four points. I've missaid multiple times, three times. I forgot I changed it when I'm filming the videos, but don't worry, again, I've gone back and fixed it multiple times. I made sure, trust me, I'm like quadruple, drupal, deeple, dopple, dupa, dupa, checking everything, making sure it's right. So they will get four points. So again, one point if you make them laugh, four points if you are able to not laugh. Two points to my favorite in the round, two points to my favorite bit overall, four points to the fan MVP. Now, when we have guest stars, it's a little bit different. They will still get the points. They're on their they're gonna be their own separate, like side tournament, so to say, is they will get their points, and then you guys will tell me how they feel. I will rank them one out of ten. You guys will tell me how you think they did from a scale of one to ten, and then we'll just calculate the scores there, and then the horizon tournament, that's how we're going to go. Quick little recap of what's gone on per episode. Uh, like I said in the last one, I went back and watched the two. I have to sneeze, give me a second. Sorry about that. The Paul, as some of those already know, and some people who also live in northern California know the pollen count's freaking stupid and crazy right now. We're gonna continue on. Um, I went back and watched the two earlier in the year trying to laugh and caught up with the scorekeeping. So a quick recap. I think we probably have one of these uh anything but nothings a month dedicated to recapping the tournament. That makes sense to me. Up to stuff so you guys know what's going on, instead of recapping them every episode, other than the brief recappings. Um, so back in 182, the one I went back and watched it, after scoring it, Courtney she scored 14 in that one. Angela got 16, Chance had 16, Arasha only had eight, Olivia had 12, and then Kel, and after Kel dominated, she had 17, she won it, and she got my she was my favorite winner, she won the episode. The MVP was still Angela. Angela won the MVP of that one, which brought her Angela originally only had 12, but the MVP brought her up to 16. So that as that wasn't said Kel won that one. I don't think guests are gonna win too often, but I'm on record saying Kel absolutely killed it. I feel could be a full-time member of the Trying to Laugh cast. They freaking dominated, it was awesome. I th they they were such a good guest. Back in 183. Um, this was Shane's only appearance so far. Shane got 21, Amanda had 13, Ian had 16. I'll save her for last just because of how absurd her score ended up being. Chance had 10. Trevor. Oh, Trevor. Trevor had six. But Angela, Angela dominated that episode with a score of 28. She had 24 before the MVP, she still won the MVP and got a total of 28 points. Yeah, she needed that though because she didn't have a great 185. Well, she did still, but like to her standard, she did not have a great 185. But before we get too far ahead, 184, Angela scored a measly 20 points. Um, chance had 16, Olivia only had 9, Arasha had 11, and Trevor, once again, only had seven. For those who I talked about this in the episode, Trevor saved his ass in this tournament with 185. He he did. Um, winner that one again was Angela, and again, the MVP winner was just Angela. And I talked about this in one the filming of 185. I was worried, just like only the Angela fans were voting for her. But thankfully, like in 185, you guys proved me wrong. Giants it well, it is what it is. Um the the Giants are gianting it right now, they're not having a good season so far. It's early. Sorry. Um, but 185. Again, Courtney had 11, Rasha had 12, Angela only had 15 for her. Like, it's not still an episode for her compared to other folks because this was the you know the duels. Tommy had 20, he got the boost from being MVP, which thank you guys. I was like, it proved to me that it's not just you know favoritism, it's who you guys just think deserve. So thank you for reassuring me on that. I was getting a little worried because you can't help it if someone wins MVP three times in a row, it is what it is. But Tommy had 20, but didn't win the episode because Trevor came back, stormed back, and scored a whopping 22 points in that episode. Um, and he won that episode and he deserved it, and it was freaking awesome. Now, jumping over to the leaderboard and see this all bleeding into this. The leaderboard itself is the most total points right now, is definitely Angela. She has 79 total points. This is a cumulative of everything. She has the most points, it's not even close right now. The highest average, however, is still owned by Shane. Yes, he's only been on one episode, but he's with that one episode, he scored 21 points, so he's technically still averaging 21 points. Most MVPs right now is definitely Angela. She has three. The most wins is Angela, she's won two episodes. Um, participation is how many episodes have she been in? Angela's been in every single one since we've been doing these, so she's currently at four episodes. Uh, the best guess so far is Kel. She scored a total of 37. We'll get to the guests here in a second. And the overall leader right now is Angela with 26 points. That is the score that's gonna be going over on the overall tracker. I talked about this briefly in the recent trying to laugh, but that was a lot of number dumping, and I apologize for that. I do realize like actually someone commented like they always have a lot of masks, but they're here for it. I'm cool with it. I'm happy you guys are okay with me dumping that. I'm gonna try to keep that to a much smaller, much minimum going forward, because it was a lot. I'm sorry, especially figuring out stuff at the moment, trying to figure out the David. There's a pause button for a reason. Just freaking pause the video. Now, for the guests, right now, is right now Kel is in the lead. Kel, she has 37 points total. Yasmin is not too far behind, she had 31.5. Unfortunately for the guests, unless they have a re unless they come back again later in the year, they're kind of one and done, so it's just kind of how it goes. Um, like an episode her score, Kel had 17 points. I gave Kel a 10 out of 10, you guys gave her a 9 out of 10, which then gave her the and then she won the episode, gave her a bonus point, which totaled out to 37 points. Yasmin, she scored 16, still, like only one point behind Kel. Um, I gave her an 8 because I thought she did good, but I didn't think her bits worked too well with tried to lab, but still, they were still really good. I mean, she damn near won the episode. And you guys gave her a 7.5. So we're all kind of on the same page with these things. And she unfortunately didn't win the episode, she didn't get the bonus point, but she still had 31.5. For me, I think that's gonna be a good total. It's gonna be hard to beat that. I need to sneeze again. I hate this season. I love this season, but I hate this season. And lastly, we find ourselves on the main page here, the overall tracker, what's going to ultimately decide the winner of this tournament. I also am trying to figure out exactly when I'm going to call the tournament. Am I gonna call it in November or just have it go through December and then have something going over in January? Because usually in January they do take things a little bit slower, as we saw this year. Granted, they're also moving studios this year. So we'll figure that out by ear once it happens. I'm more likely gonna go through the year than have whatever thing in next January. But the way we're scoring this is it's as simple as this. I value certain things, as you know, higher than others. If the camera moved again, whatever, we'll leave it. Um hello. Kitty. He's like just barely offering. Um episode wins. Obviously, winning matters. So, whoever has the most wins, you get a higher score. So, first place, for the most wins, we'll get six points to their total. Second place it gets five, and then third place it gets four. Higher average. Obviously, consistency is key. So the higher average you get, the more points you're going to get. So you have the highest average, you'll get six points. Five and then four, respectively. It's obviously gonna be going down in even sequential order. Now, this this one, because these things kind of overlap a little bit. I kept the points relatively lower, just three, two, one of the highest score total for me is your whole accumulative score, you get three, two, one. Now, FanDuck MVP votings, whoever has the most MVPs, again, three, two, one. So get the MVPs, you get that added to your score as well. The current score, your score overall, not just my score, but the score overall, including MVPs and my score, is we'll again get three, two, one. This is the one I feel early on is very weighted towards, especially how Angela started off the season. It's definitely weighted towards her. I this is like I was the years and the years, as the episodes you know go longer, more things get built out, things are gonna start spreading out a little bit more because you can definitely have a higher score, but if you win a bunch of MVPs piling up, it's gonna you know bump your overall score higher. So that's where things are like that are gonna really, you know, things. But also, I didn't want to have too much influence on that, so that's why there's multiple points that add to your overall score. It kind of has a wide spread. So anyone technically has a chance, crazy things can happen. I'm a hockey fan, trust me. The freaking Kings made the playoffs instead of the sharks, even though the Kings won the Sharks won more games. Points is in hockey is stupid. Um I'm also tracking do not did not laugh. So whoever did not laugh the most, you know, in a tried to laugh, that matters. I went to that with a 5 4 3 score. And yeah, I value that highly. You deserve it. Because if you don't try to if you do not laugh and I tried to laugh, you deserve more points. You have your own, but I have the kind of cats be cats. Um, I added this one after the last episode as the highest single score. Whose score? The highest amount of points in a single episode, and that one is a 5-4-3 as well. So that's one that could happen at any time. Anyone can swoop in at the end and just nail a crazy high number. Excuse me. And last one, I'm only doing one because this isn't add too much, but you deserve a little bump if you've been in a bunch of these. And so far, Angela's been in every single one. You get a singular extra point, but it adds up, it helps you out with things. And Angela said Angela's been in four, Trevor's been in three, so is chance. But that's the only one that's going to be built in a long time. It's just a little bump. Who knows? It could be a tiebreaker. I like tiebreaking stuff. Um, and that would lead out to your overall score. So right now, in the lead, we do have Angela, she has 26 points. Because with the way things are right now, with her being in so many more episodes than anyone else, is she's had more chances to get these points. Is she's not she hasn't she doesn't lead every category, so that's why now Shane has 13 points. So Angela's at first with 26. Shane has 13, and with this performance in 185, Trevor has entered the bronze position with 10 overall points. Again, as we get more episodes, as things get more spread out, these totals, I think these totals are gonna kind of more blend in together. And if you guys think there's any other score you think I should add to the trying to laugh overall tournament, anything you think I should add to this list that you think would help and make more sense to add to it, let me know in the comments down below what you think I should add. I I want to take more time to talk about here with you guys to show you what's going on, and also just talk about what this anything but nothing is going to be. This is more of the chill. No, I bought that desk to freaking sit down and do you know these videos, but now this desk is covered in Godzilla's until we get things moved around and situated, and then I'll move back to the desk as well for these to be more casual and actually sit down instead of standing up because my legs are gonna start hurting here. Um, yeah, so that's what I had for you guys. Um, again, next week's episode of this is going to be my top 10 Disneyland rides, and then after that, it's going to be my musical instrument collection, and then so on and so forth of just random video topics, top tens, other rankings, reviews. I might just start the reviews in this because I'm I've I'm cutting back on reviews for sure. And I feel like doing longer form reviews into the anything but nothing podcast would make more sense because the next one I think I'm gonna do, I don't know what the next one I'm gonna do, honestly, is um well, I'll figure that out when it happens. That's what kind of sucks is I started doing Fenrock Sports getting one episode, and then I wanted to catch up on my own time, and it kind of spiraled into me just playing a lot, and now I wasn't having fun with the game because things have happened in that game.
