This week our hosts sit down with Detective Matt. He was born and raised in the Houston area. He went to college at Sam Houston State (SHSU) where he got his bachelors in Criminal Justice. After graduating he joined GPPD and was in Basic Class #3....which he claims is the "best one yet."
He has been with GPPD for approximately 9 years. He was in patrol for 7 years and was a Field Training Officer (FTO). He then transferred to investigations and has been a detective for around 2 years. In Property Crimes, he investigates thefts, burglaries, and similar incidents.
Matt also serves on our SWAT team as a sniper and is a member of the Honor Guard.
When he is off work, he likes to take care of his lawn and play with his 2-year-old toddler son. Thus he is a busy man!
Per Nate, he is an Astros "fanboy", but don't hold that against him!
