Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis

When Giants Fall: Truth, Flair, and Wrestling's New Gatekeepers

Mac Davis and WWE Hall of FamerTeddy Long

The wrestling world is experiencing seismic shifts as corporate interests reshape the landscape that fans and performers have long known. Mac Davis and Teddy Long dive deep into these changes, offering perspectives that only industry veterans can provide.

The conversation begins with Ric Flair's latest controversy, where he dismissed Jim Ross's cancer announcement as "attention seeking" before boasting about making "$3 million at age 76" while dismissing critics who weren't "famous." Teddy doesn't mince words in his assessment of Flair's behavior, expressing disappointment in how the once-respected legend now presents himself.

As TKO tightens its grip on WWE operations, reports suggest they're reconsidering Roman Reigns' lucrative contract despite his status as the company's top star. This exemplifies the new business-focused approach that's transforming WWE under corporate ownership. Both hosts draw parallels to WCW's demise, warning that when corporations focus solely on financials without understanding wrestling's unique appeal, the product inevitably suffers.

The recent release of R-Truth sparked particularly passionate discussion. Despite being one of WWE's most beloved characters, Truth was let go in what seems like a purely business decision. Teddy reveals a conversation with Truth where he expressed feeling "free" after his release. The hosts explore exciting possibilities for Truth's future, including creative storylines involving "Little Jimmy" that could revitalize his career outside WWE's constraints.

Production quality also comes under scrutiny as the hosts compare today's WWE programming to the Attitude Era. They point to a recent Naomi-Bianca Belair segment that mentioned visiting a childhood home without showing any footage – a missed opportunity that highlights how the current product lacks the creative flourishes that once made wrestling compelling viewing.

Speaker 1:

and it's another thursday, seven o'clock eastern standard time, and that means we are live with road trip after hours. I'm your host, mac davis, and of course, my co-host is none other than one of my best friends and and I see these guys pooch with him too there Is Rufus in there. Is that what I'm seeing, teddy? Oh no, teddy. Teddy, he's trying to show us the dog here. He's coming right back in. Let's see what he's done here.

Speaker 1:

Hey you there now, I'm there now. Yeah, I can hear you now. You see, rufus, rufus, hey, buddy, what you doing? Oh man, he's gotten big.

Speaker 2:

Teddy, yeah, he is man. He's a big guy. All right, Rufus, I want you to go on patrol now. Don't let anybody back here. This is a private area.

Speaker 1:

That's right, Teddy. I'm looking forward to this weekend. You and I get to spend some time together this weekend. We'll talk more about that in just a few moments, but I know you're probably getting ready and Rufus. I imagine you've got to do something with Rufus as well, don't you?

Speaker 2:

Well, I always take care of Rufus. Rufus has a nice place he goes. It's called the Bordering and they board him there and it's a nice big yard. He plays, he does, you know, he has a good time so it's a nice place so he enjoys. You know, sometime when I'm gone.

Speaker 1:

Pretty classy lady already here this evening, good to see you. And uh, your shirt went out, so you should be seeing it, if you haven't already. Uh, she's saying hey, uh, and zach minger uh is in here as well, and he's saying hello, mac and teddy. How are you? I'm doing great, zach and teddy. How about you?

Speaker 2:

well, zach, I am forever feeling absolutely fantastic. And there's somebody there, pretty classy lady. She wants to say hello to rufus. Uh, rufus is going to work now. Pretty classy lady. Rufus is on the clock. He has to get paid around here. I have to feed him, so right now he's on patrol, that's right he's doing his job, zach even saying hello to Rufus.

Speaker 1:

Before we get into the questions for tonight and, by the way, you can be a part of the program tonight All you have to do is drop us a chat or question in the chat and we'll throw it up on the screen and answer that question. Go ahead.

Speaker 2:

I know there should be a lot of questions tonight with all the stuff that's going on in the world of professional wrestling.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my God yeah look guys. And, by the way, share this around, let people know that we are live. But yeah, the news has been absolutely crazy. And for what seems like it's become a weekly feature, teddy, it's what has Ric Flair said or done this week.

Speaker 2:

So let me tell you I don't know, you know you. I don't know you know me. I don't keep up with none of that, so I don't know.

Speaker 1:

That's why I love telling you this, because I get your real reaction when you hear it. All right, here's what happens. The whole drama unfolded when Jim Ross announced that he had colon cancer. Yeah, To which Ric Flair tweeted that Jim was, quote seeking attention.

Speaker 2:

Why would somebody play about having cancer? I mean, that's nothing to joke.

Speaker 1:

No, and later on he said I was just, I was being funny, he was just joking. It's not funny, sorry. Even if that's what it was meant to be, it was a bad joke at best. It's not funny, sorry. Even if that's what it was meant to be. It was a bad joke at best. Then, in response to Ric Flair's callous sounding comments about Jim Ross, dutch Mantell was doing his podcast with his show co-host named James Romero and they were talking about what he had said and Dutch said that Flair needed to shut up and then Romero called Flair a dick, which then got Flair hot and he started tweeting. Let me read you the couple of tweets I have here, teddy and this is going to sound outrageous. Ric Flair on X Dutch Everyone is always going to think of you as a veteran.

Speaker 1:

That's not allowed to have an opinion, but I sympathize with your health issues and hope you recover and return to top health. You have always been a good guy. The anger you pour out at everybody is clearly coming from the pain you feel. Please stay strong. After all these wise-ass comments going back and forth, ric Flair put out one final tweet and it said this I tried to be nice to everybody. God only knows that I've spent more money on spilt liquor in one year than people have in a lifetime. I tried being nice and this is my last message to everyone I've got more money than I've got time. Go F yourself, haters. No comment needed. Live with it. Actually learn to love it. Get back to me again when you make $3 million a year at the age of 76. That's what famous gets and, by the way, I don't recognize anyone in this conversation who is famous. End quote man. What an asshole man what an asshole.

Speaker 1:

I'm just going to say it flat out when you read that, it's like man, even if you like Flair you read that and you're thinking, man, you're an ass. Teddy, does this surprise you? With all the stuff that's going on, that he's still going to? I don't know how he hasn't been canceled already.

Speaker 2:

Nothing surprises me. This is professional wrestling man, okay, so nothing surprises me. The thing that I try to do is I try to stay away from all this drama because I don't have time for it. You know, god has blessed me. I'm still alive, I'm still getting out doing, you know, seeing the fans and doing my thing, you know, and enjoying myself. So I ain't got time for all that negativity. I know what happened to me and I know about all that. But all this in the past I survived all that. I made it in the world of professional wrestling. I am now a brand. I made a name for myself. So I don't have to suck up to nobody. I am my own boss now. I tell myself what to do. I'm willing to be somebody, I'm willing to have a boss, but it's going to be on that turn. You're the boss, I'm the employee, but we can all get along and do our jobs, it's just that simple.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I hate to see the rick flair's become what he has. Uh, mainly because I mean, when I grew up honestly, teddy, before I actually started, you know, getting to know a lot of people I always thought rick flair was a cool guy, and and then you realize that what you see on screen is actually who you see when he's off screen and it's abrasive and it's not appealing, I don't know. Today he comes across more as like a pimp. To me it's like he's dressed up like some kind of pimp, trying to be all flashy and trying to be 40 years younger and wearing clothes that look ridiculous on him, and it's like he can't let go of that rick flair this, you know the style and profiling guy.

Speaker 2:

He can't let that go well, like I said, I have no comment man and I can just imagine what's going to happen this weekend.

Speaker 1:

Uh, by the way, uh, we'll get in that second pretty classy lady saying I still remember the shoot interview you did years ago talking about what Ric Flair said to you. I can't see him the same anymore.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, that's like I said. All that's out, that's in the past. People know. You know, I don't care how you feel about it. If you like it, you like it, if you don't, you don't. It don't bother me.

Speaker 2:

All I know is I told the truth and that's the simple thing. Is that the truth? And anytime I say something about somebody, believe me it is the truth, because I'm not going to sit out here and tell a lie, because I know once you do that, you put a nail in the coffin. They're just waiting for me or something to say something that's not true. So I'm not going to do that. So I've kept a lot of stuff man, you know what I mean In the back of my head and you know, like I said, if I say something is going to be the truth. But I'm trying to stay away from all this negativity and just try and enjoy my life, and that's what I'm going to do. So what these guys are saying all of them, you know, talking about each other and this and that, stay away from me I ain't got time for you.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, uh, let me uh, I just got something in here, mark charles. Hey, mark, good to see you in here. Right, that's my uh, that's my nephew. Uh, for those of you who probably start scratching your head going, huh, he's not, but we call him my nephew. Mark charles, the third, the count, uh, you met him actually in st Louis.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay, okay, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

He's the guy that had the dog that you were loving on.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 1:

Look, I see Rufus's tail right over your shoulder, wagging as we're talking about another dog. So now he knows Teddy. Yeah, he's right here.

Speaker 2:

He had to come back and check on me.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah. Well, it's a pretty classy lady saying he's got some nerve, and let's see John Adams saying, hey, Teddy.

Speaker 2:

Holler at a player, John Adams.

Speaker 1:

And Mark Charles. Monkle Mac. Yes, monkle Mac, that's what my grandkids my grandkids, but my nephew used to call me. It was Monkle Mac. He couldn't say uncle, to save his soul, he could say Mac. So it was always Uncle Mac. Uncle Mac, let's see Mark Charles. He sees Rufus too. Look here. There's one thing I do want to bring up.

Speaker 1:

I saw this today and I assume and I'm just going to say, allegedly this is what's being tossed around right now, but TKO is reportedly reconsidering Roman Reigns' deal with WWE and looking to lower his contract amount. According to a report from Jonathan Coachman, tko is looking to continue cutting costs and want to make a significant change to Reign's $15 million a year salary. It was noted that Reign's base salary is actually around $5 million, but after factoring in royalties and things such as appearances, video games and merchandise sales, it's actually a lot larger. In addition, it was noted that this is allegedly seen as unacceptable due to Reigns' part-time status in the company and his lack of time on WWE TV. Teddy, does this surprise you? With everything that's happened in the last week, I see things like this and you know.

Speaker 2:

Well, you know, in this business you just don't know because things will change at the drop of a hat. But, like I said, this is the wrestling business and so what people have to understand, you know, sometimes when you get these deals, you know the person that gave you that deal. You know that you and him may be okay, but it's still business, don't get me wrong, it's still business. So. But now they feel like you know that he's making too much money. You know they have the right. You know they own half of the company or whatever the company.

Speaker 1:

So they're there to make money, they're not there to give it away. It's not a charity, it is a business. But there comes a time, teddy, when I hear things like this, where I hear that you know the board and people who are there, you know pinching pennies those people, when they start having a lot of control of a wrestling product, more times than not that's the death of the wrestling product itself. Wcw was a great, you know, example of that, how Time Warner came in and they took over and it was just about the nuts and bolts and the money and that's it. And they didn't understand wrestling, they didn't understand why it was popular. In fact, they hated the product on anything they owned. Yet, you know, they decide we're going to come in, we're going to pinch and cut everywhere we can and the product died.

Speaker 2:

Well, like I said, and I tell you this all the time, you know, we're not NWA anymore, we're really not WCW anymore.

Speaker 1:

We're not WWE anymore, really Well yes, we are.

Speaker 2:

We're still WWE because it's World Wrestling Entertainment.

Speaker 1:

But the ownership now is by TKO and not Vince McMahon. There's going to be a huge difference between the two.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, well, it's like night and day.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, and I even saw where the Good Brothers Carl Anderson and Luke Gallows had made comment on the fact that this is no longer the WWE. It's completely different.

Speaker 2:

That world of the WWE is now gone and it's now new under tko uh they say, you know, maybe that's what they might be trying to do is to get rid of wwe.

Speaker 1:

It could be and there's even rumors too, teddy, and I saw this just before you came in the room. I saw where there are rumors going around that Saudi officials and Vince McMahon couldn't be working together to try to buy the WWE back.

Speaker 2:

Well, allegedly well, if anybody's got the money, the sordid people's definitely got it yeah, and he has the contacts I'd like to be friends with him.

Speaker 1:

Yes, let's see. Well, I got something else in here. Um, where'd it go? Come on, guys, there we go. John adams, speaking of truth, what do you think of Truth being released by WWE? I don't think they did a good thing getting rid of him. Daddy, your thoughts?

Speaker 2:

Like I said, wwe is a company that I've got. You know, I realize that they will fire you when you don't do your job and they'll also fire you when you do your job. So I talked to Truth and he's happy with it. I saw his statement that he made after the release. So you know, it's like this with me If Truth is happy, I love it. So ain't no going back and forth about this release, because talking back and forth or making an argument out of it that ain't bringing him back, so it's a waste of time.

Speaker 1:

Everybody, if you got any sense, sense at all you know you, you can see what is going on yeah, and you know, a part of me kept thinking because I don't know that I have seen an official wwe comment about his release or that. You know, usually you hear the wwe uh, you know wishes you, you know the best of luck, whatever. Know the best of luck, whatever. It is the best in your endeavors, future endeavors. I don't recall hearing anything about that from WWE officially when it came to R-Truth, which kind of makes me wonder. There's still a chance maybe. But if you've talked to him maybe that we're not getting played. But part of me kind of wonders, you know what?

Speaker 2:

the hell you keep on trying to make this work. It's not a work.

Speaker 1:

Yep, it's not a work. Oh, that's, that's a shame, really. All right, let's see. Uh, pretty classy lady. Teddy, did you have any input when they made your wwe theme?

Speaker 2:

no, I did not. I had no input whatsoever. They just brought me in one day and, uh well, I went in the production truck and they played it for me to let me know what they had. And that was about it.

Speaker 1:

Now, the first time you had that was at what point? When did you first get that?

Speaker 2:

Well, I got it when I first started managing Rodney Mack, that's that. It was kind of that. And then they took the music and then they just gave it to me.

Speaker 1:

And it was basically the white boy challenge at that time.

Speaker 2:

Right here comes the black military time to get it on.

Speaker 1:

So what would you have done? Events had sent you a music and the music was actually some kind of pop sounding crap. That wouldn't have made sense. Would you have said something? No, I would have not. You would have just Britney Spears was your entry entrance music.

Speaker 2:

You wouldn't just come on out to it, huh you're not in that position to say anything, okay, just go. You don't go because you don't never know when that all that could have been a work right there. They could have been saying something, using that to try me to see what my reaction is going to be. So I learned this game, okay. So, hey, if you want me to come out to bing, bong, bong, I'll do it Pretty classy lady.

Speaker 1:

You know, it's the Mac Militant. And Zach. Hey, zach, good to see you in here as well. Mac and Teddy, my dudes.

Speaker 2:

All right.

Speaker 1:

Jack, let's see. You got John Adams. John Adams, I don't think it was a good move to release him. I don't. When it comes to R-Truth and letting him go.

Speaker 1:

I didn't really say much about what I thought, but I will say that I'm going to miss R-Truth and I'm going to miss him because he brought something and I said this on Sportskeeda on a show that we do together with Bill Apter. But there are very few characters in the WWE that people genuinely love. They are attracted to them. They love them. When Teddy goes to a show and Teddy, I've told you this many times before listen to the crowd because it's always the biggest pop of the night it's because the fans love Teddy. The fans also love our truth and they always will, because he brought a lighter moment Sometimes to the screen that other people could not pull off. I'm sorry, but there are very few people who have the talent that R-Truth has, and you said the other day and I agree with this with as much talent as he has, he should have been offered something better than what he got offered, based on what I'm hearing.

Speaker 2:

Well, like I said, guys that have been around a long time, like him and myself, you know what I mean, we know this business, you know, so we can help the younger talent, like a lot of the guys that have an NXT. There's always something that they can be taught. You know what I'm saying. So, like I said, I don't really much worry about it anymore. You know, like, if you can remember, when Edge got released, he cut this promo. I guess it may have been on the other people that he's working for.

Speaker 1:

He said in that promo and I'm reminded of it he said I'm free now. Yeah, you remember that, I do, I do.

Speaker 2:

I know there are a lot of people who said that Ed said I'm free now. Well, when I spoke the truth and just out of the blue, he said Teddy, I love it, I love it, I'm free.

Speaker 1:

You kind of tell us about how the background may be sometimes Well.

Speaker 2:

I tell you what guys. I've been free for a long time.

Speaker 1:

You enjoy that too, don't you?

Speaker 2:

Yes, I enjoy it.

Speaker 1:

Zach in here saying I can't wait to see where truth lands again in the business. The dude is one of the biggest draws still and yeah, I think especially on house shows. If you know our truth is going to be on a house show that they were doing, I'd buy a ticket because I enjoy our truth.

Speaker 2:

People showed you he was on live TV and they're chatting. They got a live TV show going on and their people are chatting for a guy that they just fired. So what did that tell you? It's real simple man people are chanting for a guy that they just fired. So what did that tell you? Yep, it's real simple, man yeah.

Speaker 1:

I don't know why they keep trying to make this a puzzle. Mark's in here. Mark's good to see you. I haven't seen you in a while. What's up y'all? Teddy and Mac? Hey man, we're just hanging in here, man. Yeah man, mark, charles, teddy, what's your best advice for a referee and he is a referee, by the way he's three with the count, so go ahead.

Speaker 2:

Well, the only thing to do the best thing for a referee is keep your ears open and keep your mouth shut and pay attention. A lot of things. The guys, well, they don't. I see a lot of these indie guys right now. They don't do, and that's why I look up. And then when they have matches and the referee's in one place where he shouldn't be and all that and that's why they don't go over nothing. So here's some advice for you If you know your referee in a match, they should tell you.

Speaker 2:

And you got time. Then get with those two guys and see exactly what they're doing. Sit there and go over everything in the match so that you know what's going on. You'll be on time and it'll be a lot better because everybody will be on the same page. But when you got two guys in there, referee running around back in the locker room, he ain't even setting the match. You know he just waiting to go out so the people can see him.

Speaker 2:

So then that's why he looks so stupid. When guys do something in front and he don't even have sense enough to turn his head, looks right at it. You know why? Because he didn't ask them. He didn't know they were doing that, so he didn't know the fuck you know to turn his head. So that's the best advice I can give you Get with guys and find out what they're doing, and if they don't want to go over that match with you, then go to the promoter and tell them hey, I don't want to work with these guys. I'm trying to help them and they don't want me to help them, and also you're trying to help yourself.

Speaker 1:

A referee. Like you said, you don't really want to be seen.

Speaker 2:

and yet these referees think, oh, I can't wait to get out there because everybody wants to see me Nobody, you know what JJ Dillon told me and this has been 40 years ago when I first walked out no, before I was about to walk out, the first thing JJ Dillon told me is keep your ass out of that camera. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Referee a good referee should be invisible until the moment he needs to be visible.

Speaker 2:

That's what he told me, so that's how you remember. So I'm from the old school. I learned where it was done, right, yep.

Speaker 1:

Eric Andrus in here. This is a boy you talk about, a name I have not heard, and just for the, this is straight up the truth. I have not spoken with Eric, and Eric it's good to see you in here probably in 30 plus years, but he's in here right now and saying long liveE-V. That was the very first radio job I ever had. It started at W-A-E-V and that's where I met Eric all those years ago. So, man, it's good to see you in here. When did y'all get divorced? I didn't get divorced from Eric. I never married Eric here's a truth nugget, though I dated his sister. Well, yeah, I'm sure you did. That's why I'm surprised we're still friends. All right, let's see Marks in New Mexico. What's up, Mac and Teddy? Hey?

Speaker 2:

what's up with you, my man? We hope you're having a blessed day.

Speaker 1:

And I'm trying to keep up with all the questions, guys, I appreciate that everybody's coming in here. If you want to be a part of the show, leave a question and, uh, we'll throw it up on the screen as long as we can. While we're here, zach, uh, I want to see R-Truth go back to TNA. I think that's the best place for R-Truth to pop into and personally I'd love to see him show up in TNA. I think there's history there and I heard Teddy I don't know if you've heard this Bully Ray on Busted Open the other day laid out a scenario of what would be funny, and he thought it'd be funny that if he showed up in AEW or if he showed up in TNA, that he plays the gimmick where he's walking in the back and he keeps calling people the names of people from WWE, like he thinks he's still there.

Speaker 1:

You know how he gets all absent-minded. I thought, man, that is hilarious, that would get over. That's a hell of an idea and that's why I'd love to see somebody actually pick that idea up and bring it to TV, because it would be classic.

Speaker 2:

R-Truth. Nobody has to pick the idea up. You know what R-Truth needs to do. He needs to sit down and you know, and maybe he's kind of a little bit down and he ought to have a conversation with little Jimmy and little Jimmy needs to kind of help bring R-Truth back to light. Little Jimmy needs to be there. Hey, it's not over. It's not over. You're not done. You've got plenty more left. And let little Jimmy guide R-Truth back into the spotlight. That's the way I would do it. Which back into the spotlight.

Speaker 1:

That's the way I would do it, which is a good way too, because he can wrestle. I'm not going to say he can't wrestle he can wrestle with the best of them but you've got somebody that has an entertainment value to him right there. There are so many video vignettes that they could do prior to him even showing up in the Federation. Do you know?

Speaker 2:

what God does things for a reason. This may be the best thing to ever happen to him.

Speaker 1:

Yes, okay, I think so too. We might see the in our truth that we have never got to see where he's allowed to be him. Uh, john adams. He brought all the comedian acts and he got everyone involved and always joked with them, and there were very few people to make other wrestlers crack a smile. He was the one. Yeah, he was man. It's hard truth.

Speaker 2:

Like I said, man, this could be the best thing that could have ever happened to him. Okay, what John Law Nights did to me was the best thing that could have happened to me.

Speaker 1:

Look, I got fired one time and that was the best thing that ever happened to me. Despite the fact that I thought it was the worst day of my life, it ended up being the best thing that had ever happened to me. It made me realize I could do much more than I was doing. Pretty classy lady. They also said carlito and ms might be released. I think carlito was released. Uh, the ms? I was hearing that again. That would be another name. That would surprise me. Uh, if the ms were let go, because he is also a multifunctional guy in the back, he can do interviews. You can send him out and do things. Go ahead, ted.

Speaker 2:

They don't care, man. No, no, they don't care, we're just wasting our breath. You mean talking about these people?

Speaker 1:

Dave Ruby. Hey, what's up, guys. My input for the night push Karrion Kross, that is all. Karrion K the night push carrion cross, that is all. Uh, carrion cross, teddy, do you keep up with carrion cross? No, carrion is a is a unique character. I like him and I think he needs to be given the right storyline. If he's got it and somebody can help direct him along the way, I think he'd be fantastic. Uh, I just think somebody's got to believe in him first and, for whatever reason, it seems like they they're not given full belief in what he might be able to do.

Speaker 2:

Well, he has to. He has to make them, he has to start believing in himself, and once he starts believing in himself, then he can deliver to them. Hey, here's what I got. This is what I can do.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's see here Mark's uh, neither, neither, none of those. You don't want to. You don't want to be GM at all period. No, no, those days are behind him.

Speaker 2:

You know that could change. You know if, if, if, uh personnel changes, you know, but right now I don't want, I don't want no part of it.

Speaker 1:

No, no, but if you're, I understand what you're saying. Though if you're in a situation where you feel appreciated and needed, uh, and you I mean, I mean you and I are the same way I don't like sitting down and being at my house all day. I can work, and as long as I'm inspired to do so, man, my ass will go 100 to nothing. Uh, and that's how you are too. I know that. So it's like, if the environment's right, I'm always interested, right?

Speaker 2:

I just want. I just want to be be treated fair yeah, hoss, holding hello my friends.

Speaker 1:

Uh see you had a prostrate removed. Oh my god, hoss, I hope you're doing good. Uh, we are cancer free and ready for my return to the dog pound, june 28th. It's time to shake the boogie as I lay down the woogie uh, yeah, yeah, I remember hoss.

Speaker 2:

Well, congratulations, man. I'm really happy to know that you're cancer-free. That's a real big move there, man. That is outstanding. So congratulations to you and I remember you now and I'm sure Rodney and Jay can't wait to have you back there.

Speaker 1:

And you know, hoss, I'm probably hearing somewhere off in the background, not sure, but it sounds like it might be Ric Flair saying you're just seeking for attention. What are you doing? It's ignoring. Uh, what else do we have here? We got a pretty classy lady. She is saying where's it? Come on, bring it back. What did y'all think? Smackdown last week, where naomi mentioned bianca's childhood home and didn't go to her house, that was was pointless, pretty classy lady.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to tell you that last Friday, when, when that happened, I have been bitching for weeks that they don't do anything outside of the arena. They stay in the back. It's always backstage, backstage, backstage. It's either in the ring or it's backstage. Years ago, in the Attitude Era, they, they would go places. They'd be in a bar, they would be in a hotel, they'd be anywhere restaurants, supermarkets, all these places. So when Naomi mentioned to Bianca, I went to your parents house while they were in Memphis. I went to your parents house today and that kind of freaked Bianca out like what Nothing, teddy. She just told a story. No film, no signs of her being in a house and doing creepy things. That would have made it so much better and that's where I think the current product today is missing out All those special things that make it really good.

Speaker 1:

They don't care about anymore you don't even have to go that far okay.

Speaker 2:

When she walked up to Bianca and told her hey, I stopped by your house today, bianca reacts. And the next thing she does oh, and you do live at 5425 Southern Avenue, right, that's the address. There's everything right there. That told the story. She's got her address. Now she really knows.

Speaker 1:

You know what I mean for bianca's, you know, I still think that it would have been better, though, if they had naomi go out and actually creep through the house, much like what they did in aew when hangman page uh went to swerve strickland's house and he burned that house down and they filmed the entire thing, and, man, I saw that creepy as hell I saw that and that was real, that that was good, that was really good. Well, that's where they should have gone.

Speaker 2:

Well, if they may, didn't want to spend the money on it.

Speaker 1:

Again, here's the company that oh, we made all this money record breaking, you know, ba, ba, ba ba, and you don't have the time or the personnel or the money to go out and film something that I can film on my own freaking camera phone. I mean, it's not that hard, you don't need a big camera crew. This is it right here Nowadays? It's right here, right? Yeah, all right, let's see, I'm going to make sure I don't miss anybody. Eric is in here laughing after what I was saying about his sister. Probably I'll say Zach, little Jimmy needs to help him. Bring back Ron the Truth killings.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's exactly what I said.

Speaker 1:

Yep, dave Crone stopping by and saying hello, and who we got, teddy, I know we're getting over here, zach, the knowledge that he's going to be able to help younger guys. Let me sit down with Truth, oh man, yeah, truth, you know, is a wealth of knowledge and that's why we say there was so much value in our truth. Um, carlito is a new champion in puerto rico. Uh, yeah, he won that and he is no longer, I don't believe, with wwe at all. Um, john adams, have you ever thought of going back into the wrestling business? Teddy, I haven't left the wrestling business.

Speaker 2:

Teddy, I haven't left the wrestling business.

Speaker 1:

What he's talking about, let's see.

Speaker 2:

Just because you don't see me regular on TV, that doesn't mean I'm, you know. Thank you, I still have a legend deal, so I'm on the contract, so I'm still part of the company. But, like I said, I thought about going back on TV and none of that, because that don't bother me no more. You know, I had a great run, I had a great time, I had a I mean a good time, Thanks to Vince McMahon. And that's it, vince McMahon. Thank him, nobody else.

Speaker 1:

Let's see we have. For whatever reason, guys, it's taking forever. Last week I think it locked up on us, pretty classy lady. Locked up on us, pretty classy lady. She's talking about another scene from the Attitude Era. Edge literally went to John Cena's childhood home and stepped on his bed. These are things that I again there are little things like that.

Speaker 1:

To people of us who have seen those shows and how they were developed and produced, we know what's missing. But a lot of times people say, well, the younger guys, they don't know that, they don't know what all we did back then. What does that? Is that a good pass? I mean to me, teddy, if you're putting out a product, you should be putting out a better product than you did the day before. You got somebody like Triple H in a position where he lived through the attitude era. He knows how they went in and out of commercial breaks and coming back into matches and making things last, and I don't see it in today's product. I don't understand that. It's a head-scratcher for me, because he should be the first and foremost person to go. We've got to do it better than this, because this is how we used to do it. He has to know.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

I hear you let's see Tony Hunter play us. It's still in the biz.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

Uh, you have to go to sports kita uh the wrestle, uh, wrestle binge youtube page and you'll find everything there. We got a road trip tomorrow, a real-life road trip. We'll be going down the road and I understand I'm going to be getting some homemade banana pudding.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Denise told me today that she's finished making the pudding, so she'll have the pudding for us tomorrow.

Speaker 1:

So I told her. I said Denise, me and Mac may eat that pudding before we even get there. So you say that and I'm thinking about that.

Speaker 2:

We might do that because we may be in that position. Oh yeah, we might be.

Speaker 1:

We may be just that hungry. Now that sushi restaurant you got to save room for that, teddy, because we went there last year.

Speaker 2:

We'll do that on Saturday once we get done, yep.

Speaker 1:

Oh man, good food there. All right, guys, we'll see you this weekend, off and on. So keep checking back to social media, on Facebook and on YouTube, teddy or mine and when we go live, you'll know it and you'll see what's happening right there at River City Wrestling Con.
