Robert Smallwood
As Chair of the AI Governance World Conference and the Certified IG Officers Association, Robert guides corporate leaders and compliance officers in implementing information governance and AI governance best practices across their organizations. Robert works with universities including Oxford, the University of Michigan, and San Jose State teaching graduate-level Information Governance and his frameworks help corporations worldwide mature their IG and AI oversight practices at scale.
With decades of experience in information governance, Robert has a proven track record of authoring foundational works in the field, including the seminal textbook "Information Governance: Concepts, Strategies, and Best Practices" (Wiley) and the newly released "The AI Governance Playbook" (Bloomsbury 2026), demonstrating expertise in records management, AI governance, and enterprise compliance. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of AIIM International.
