Tribal Fires - Dumbartung
Tribal Fires is a podcast that will tell the stories of the Dumbartung Aboriginal corporations' 35-year history of working in the Bibbulmun Nyoongah community in the South West of Australia. These stories will tell of the cultural initiatives, interviews, and the political struggles that has challenged the survival of the organisation by attempted Government strategies to adversely attempt to cease the truth-telling and cultural empowerment of this crucial Aboriginal organisation.

Observation
This episode of tribal fires is an Observation on Dumbartung’s cultural program implemented into the Banksia Hill detention centre including the infamous unit 18 during 2024-2025.
It also observes the history of incarceration on Indigenous people from the time of colonisation. It also addresses the adopted 3 strikes policy with a mandatory 12 months sentence.
It also observes an incident that occurred at the conclusion of the program between Dumbartung senior staff members and custodial officers.
It gives reference to a number of recommendations that were forwarded to the department of justice regarding these programs.
