We're way short of dollars, so we have nothing to talk about. Actually, we were on vacation, came back late, told Spence, I'm sorry, gotta do something. I mean, it's there is literally nothing going on in the world of Steelers that we I mean people are in the in the media and in the the intranet world. Yes. Are I mean just like it's like I'm not saying they're making up stories, but they're just it's just like, yeah, let's just let's talk about what so-and-so had for lunch. Or reaching, which reaching, which we don't want to do. No, no, no, no, we're not gonna do that, so we're not gonna reach. We're just gonna give y'all some life updates of what's going on, what what we've been, you know, if something breaks while we're sitting here, I guess you'll get it, but nothing's breaking. Um I think I think all of the uh the NFL athletes are on vacation right now, right?

It's it's this is just the this is the worst time for anything. What did you do this time of year and when you were playing?

Well, it was right before it was time to like well, family time. This is like a great time to like for me. It was like, okay, do just enough to get myself ready to go, but enjoy that last little bit of like family time.

Cracking A Vacation Lager

Oh, hey, you're in luck, my good friend. Thank you. Because uh, one of my dear friends came back from vacation with a couple beers. Oh, yeah, and he wanted to share them with you. He said, you know what? He handed them to me, say, Can you make sure these get to Ben?

Um, yes, this this first beer was brought back um from the lake by you, by me. Um just a real nice I I enjoyed this a lot. This is a really good lager.

But it's good. It is. I I I drank a few of those while I was down there. And you were down there for the fourth. That's our uh our tradition. Uh go down to the lake for the fourth. We actually don't get on the water during the fourth, third, fourth, or fifth, usually because it's just a madhouse. But we go down there and we we enjoy the kids now are tubing nonstop. It's like, hey dad, we're going tubing, we go tubing, we go tubing. So a lot of that. Yeah. It was so hot down there, like you you can't you can't even be on the water and not move. Right? You've got to be going like if someone falls off, you're mad because you have to stop to let them get on.

Yeah, and do you guys pontooning out there? You tune up tubing behind a pontoon? I say you got a low cover there, or you just wide open? You just open to the elements there.

Well, I have a I have a Bimini, but we keep it down because we're the kids want to go fast enough. No, I get that. So yeah, we we have fun down there, but they the Great Waters puts on an amazing uh firework show. I mean, it's it was a solid 20 plus minutes and not just like one at a time. I mean, it was they actually did a couple this year. We thought it was an accident the first time because they do it right on the 18th fairway, and then and there's like a cove of like a um there's water around it. And so a lot of boats sit out there. We take the golf cart to it, but this year some fireworks like shot sideways, like onto the water. And we're like, oh, that that couldn't have been right. That looks like something like we would do, like, oh shoot, it fell over. Hope it doesn't fall over towards us, right? Yeah, it falls over. Well, it didn't fall over, excuse me. It shot to the water, yeah. And we're like, oh, boats, like, hope everyone's okay, but there were no boats where it was, but it shot to the water, and then all of a sudden, from the water, it went up. What? So we're like, oh, that was kind of cool, but I can't believe that happened. That was kind of scary. What happened again? So we found out it was an intent, like it's a it shoots it across the water, and then they get to the water and they go up.

Yeah, still that still seems it was cool. I'm not a fireworkologist, yeah. Um, that seems that still seems unsafe. That you engineer a firework that goes towards something else.

So yeah, the American is 250th birthday, have birthday America. 250, but the fireworks displayed 250. It the the grand finale had was like a it felt like a three minutes of just like really I mean like you it too much to explain. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Um I just start feel sorry for the I feel sorry for everybody's dog, toddlers.

Oh yeah, yeah. Listen, I remember we were we were laughing because our kids used to have the uh headphones on. Oh yeah, and now they're sitting there like loving it, Ben just clapping. But no, the kids, the kids love it, they're cheering, I'm cheering, we're all yelling.

People are like, yeah, like dude, you know who had a good fireworks show? And like I was so not anticipating it, not for any other reason, other than the fact this felt random to me, was at the end of VBS, our church did one. Oh, really? Dude, and it was like they did the big no, it was like the bit the big summer fest they do. At the end of VBS, they do a big summer fest for the community, whatever. Oh, we played at it, yeah, yeah. We played it, and then afterwards they had fireworks after our set, and then I was like, Oh, okay, they're gonna, you know, we'll do some fireworks. It was like legit. I mean, we were probably sitting there for 45 minutes. I'm like, it's still and it was like legit. I was like, Wow, still going. I was like, hey, good on you guys. And it kind of like scratched the itch because we didn't do nothing for the fourth. We kept it low with everything we got going on with the um, but I was like, I felt like we got I didn't anticipate it. Maybe because my bar was low, but I thought y'all did a great, uh great job. Great job. That's awesome. Nothing, nothing over the water at the people.

Nothing like that. I feel like do you ever like I you ever sit there? I feel like this at one point I'm sitting there watching your mouth. Like you're kind of like, I we enjoy fireworks. I mean, I know Pittsburghers, y'all don't we're not saying y'all don't know. Y'all do we look for excuses in Pittsburgh to have fireworks. Yeah, this city loves it. But you feel like a like like kind of like a dumb animal a little bit, right? That's oh well that's me most of my life. So I don't but you're just sitting there, right?

Because like animals, like when you get lights or like you're just like, ooh, like lights shiny outside.

Noises, lights, noises, and they're like, wait a second, I'm here. We're more intelligent than this, right? I'm a grown man.

Yeah, it was awesome. So I uh but no, it was great. I gotta give a big shout out to Charlie Vaughn who helps with all the boat stuff down there. Uh my man Jose Lopez helps us with the golf. So big shout-outs to everybody down there. But um it was just it's such a fun time to be down there and enjoy that time as a family. Everyone came back with all their fingers and toes, always a plus. Big win because you never know.

Tubing Wipeouts And A Bandage Fail

Big win. We do have a lot of like like um like turf burn kind of things from the tube. Oh, sure. That's you earned those. Elbows fingers, whatever. You earned those. Bodhi actually hurt us both his thumbs. He had like a little because he's like, he's like the one I can't get off the tube. I believe that. Can't get him off. Yeah. And then Benjamin's getting mad. He's like, Dad, get Bodhi off. I'm like, dude, what like I I I'm trying, like, and you can't. And one time he actually went, the tube went, they're on like a round one, right? The couch, the sit-down couch one's too easy. Yeah, they're on a round, they usually go three across, so they're always going. And sometimes they rotate out, barely rotates out a little bit if she wipes it. So the boys were on it on the last day, and I hit this like this bump. The the lake got more calm, so then you can like throw them wide, and you don't have to worry about as much. So I got them boom, this big airborne, and the tube kind of goes on its like in the air, it's kind of doing one of these side things, and bows one arm underneath the tube in the air, and then it hits the the tube kind of hits back on a side, and he pulls himself back on. And I'm like, Whoa, what are we doing?

All right, chasing bornes. What are we doing? What are we doing on the body?

Okay, God bless America. But he uh yeah, he was he's so he's like a little spider monkey that's just strong and doesn't weigh anything, and so he doesn't fall off. But so he burned both like his thumbs, right? Got little burns on him, and so come to find out, he went to put some band-aids on him. And so, like after a couple days of the band-aids were on, he's like, My fingers, my thumbs are burning like really bad. So I'm like, Okay, man, let me look. So he took the band aid off and he goes, My fingers look like dumplings, he said. I'll make them like his like the the little blister looks like a dumpling. They called it a dumpling, right? Like, that's interesting you would say that because it was like white and like it was, you know. Well, come to find out he had used a wart remover band-aid. So he thought that it was neosporin in the middle and it was wort remover, and so it was burning his skin. It would do that. Yes, it would do that. So it was an open wound with wart remover now around it, and so it was like, you know, now his skin's like all white and dead around it. I'm like, bud, that's gonna that's gonna hurt for a little while.

The funnier thing is like, ah, I think there's something wrong with this thing.

It's like something doesn't feel right.

So, uh dad, two timer, what's up? What are we doing now? Yeah, yeah. So anyway, it's so funny, dude.

Yeah, that's that story. Um so but we had a good time. Other than that, we had a good time. Uh appreciate everybody down there. We uh before right before we left, two, two, two things happened here at the house. Unless you would you like to tell a story? Are we going back and forth on stories?

Oh no, no. This this story is is way more interesting than I I have to think about stories. I don't know. It's just been it's been a whirlwind because I just like what's going on, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, please. This is a this is worth like I don't know if it's worth hearing. It's an unfortunate.

I have two. I was gonna throw two. Oh, yeah, that one first before. Oh, I know.

Are you gonna tell you not to tell that one? This is probably really interesting for people to hear.

I don't care. Okay, yeah, yeah. I don't think it's a big big deal. So we um yeah, this is right before Dude Perfect, right? So um I was not here. Oh, I was in Ohio with Benjamin at a golf tournament.

Office Fire From A Fish Tank

Yes, that's right. It was during VBS. The the younger two are at VBS, um and my wife was here doing some reading. I was in Ohio with Benjamin at the second day of a big golf tournament that he was playing in, playing pretty well. Uh I get a call from my wife, and she says, We have a house, the house is on fire.

Now I got this, I got a call from you shortly after this. Hearing this story, when you get I haven't asked you about this yet. When you get that that hey, the house is on fire. I was like, I'm sorry, what what's your immediate reaction? Because when you called me, you were like, hey, we're getting some stuff done, but you were still cool. You were like, hey.

Yeah, yeah. Well, so uh as soon as it like, as soon as she calls me, I'm you know, then all of a sudden, like the fire, like the security, like the guardian thing is kind of or whatever it is, um SSA's call, all these things I'm getting all these calls, yeah, fire departments call. I mean, all this stuff's going on, like, what in the world? So she says that she's upstairs and she like she smells heat. Or it's like like she smells like she has this, yeah, yeah. She's got a really good nose, by the way. But she smells this like hot something, and then literally, like within seconds, she the fire alarm goes off. So she's like, and it's coming, it's going off down the basement down here. And so she uh like comes running downstairs and is like like looking, and it's nothing. Now that now the other alarms start going off elsewhere in the house, runs upstairs like what's going on, what's going on, and then all of a sudden sees the smoke coming out of my office, like like coming out pretty good out of my office, flumin. Coming out pretty good, let's just be honest. And so she runs like opens like goes into my office, and I have a fish tank for those of you that are that have never been in my house, which is almost all of you watching this.

The fish tank he's talking about. You guys know the fish tank.

I have a fish tank in my office behind my desk, a nice fish tank. And so underneath is underneath of it, it's a built-in fish tank. Underneath of it is like a cabinets with all the electrical stuff and all the fish tank thing up above some fish stuff. So flames are billowing out of it's not funny, but the way you're telling us it's that they're coming out of the cabinet underneath, like coming out up towards the glass. I mean, I have a big leather chair in my of my couch of my um office that's sitting right there. So it's like it it ends up being like whether it's the the the heat, the flames, the smoke, whatever, it creates enough push that it opens the one cabinet, like it's open now. So one cabinet is open, one's closed, and uh smoke is pouring out flames. So she initially not not I would say not billowing out, the smoke is billowing out, but flames are coming out of it. Sure. So she instantly goes and grabs like a wet towel and like tries to like like I can put this out with like a wet towel, you know? And so she's kind of like doing this and realizes instantly, like this is not helping. So she she yells to get the fire. So we have fire blankets in the house, like because she's you know has those for just you have multiple options. So then she grabbed like three uh fire blankets and threw them on the fire, and it it like kind of did its job to a certain extent. The fire, the fire department said it did its job.

Like didn't put the fire out, but it like because when I saw them when I got here, oh yeah, they looked like they got burnt through the fire blankets.

Yes, yes, and that's what that's what happens. I think it like it like Is it supposed to be like that? It's supposed to, I think, okay put them now. I think if you put it on something, it puts them out. Oh, okay. But I think if like if it's such a big thing, it like it kind of put the flames down a little bit, but that created more smoke real quick. And so the smoke then hit Ashie, like, and she was like breathing a bunch of smoke and was coughing. And then it was like, okay, this is not happening. And it's like fire extinguishers. Miss Diane was here. It's like fire extinguishers, like go get them. So I'll say this too. Like, if I would have been here, like I know right where the big fire extinguishers were, like, it probably would have happened faster, right? Because they were like, okay, go get the fire extinguisher. Well, went to the under the sink. And I'm like, no, I would know it's under the other sink. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And now we know all these things I'm gonna say are gonna be good because it's teaching, right? Yeah, and so they end up getting they ended up taking two smaller fire hide, uh, fire extinguishers. I keep saying fire hydro fire extinguishers, and they put out the fire.

And they finally got out. But by this time, there's like three fire departments, which shout out to all the fire departments that came. We appreciate y'all very much. Um and so all the all the all the guys that came and worked and got stuff. So anyway, fire gets out. Uh, it was a let found out it was an electrical fire. There was a malfunction on one of the pieces of equipment that was not supposed to get wet, got wet. Sure. Um, a seal went bad on it and it created a um a fire. I know some of y'all asking why didn't the um power strip or the GFI like it actually started the fire before all that, so it couldn't do anything. So um the bigger thing, what we found out was like if you went up there now, you look the inside of the cabinet's charred, the outside of the cabinet, you would barely even see fire damage, which is crazy. Yeah, but the fire extinguisher damage or um residue, yeah. Yeah, like my office is like was like white as white could be, and like this this dusty stuff, and then smoke went is has been throughout our house. We've I asked you when you walked in if you could still smell it. Um, thanks to all the people that came, helped clean. But but anyway, long story short, it was you know, in the fight, I'm on the phone in Ohio on the golf thing, like making calls. Like, yeah, you know, who and to call this person, you call this person, you need to call this person. And Benjamin's like, Dad, you're on the phone so much. And I'm like, I know, but like just let me know. Luckily, the kid, the other two kids were here, my parents were able to take them home. You were able to come help, which I was very thankful for. Uh, it's a it's a it's a frustrating and and helpless feeling when you're not around and your family needs something. Yeah, now I knew everyone was safe and that was good, but uh, you know, my wife's like, of course, the one room that you don't want to fire is your office with all the things in it.

Well, yeah, that's the thing. I when I first walked in, I saw Ash, I was like, you know, outside of the like obviously you're all the people and then your dogs were safe, thank God. You know, nobody got hurt. I'm like, you guys want to pick a more valuable room to have a fire in next time? For those of you who don't know, that's there's some career achievements in there, let's just say.

Oh yeah. Well, other than this, this place would have been we would have lost it. And I did that's I called Spencer, like, come over, man, because there's like dust. I mean, not dust, but smoke everywhere. Like there was a haze in here. We could check everything.

I appreciate your concern, but you're like, hey man, go check the the bar for the studio. I was like, do forget who cares? Like, who cares? Like, this is. I was thinking about you. I was like, I was thinking about you, guys. Burn these cameras down, brother. Like anything else in this house. Yeah.

You know, like so. Anyway, that was yeah, that that was a very interesting um time. But I am very thankful for all the people that came to help that that that helped with the cleaning that have gotten the from ductwork to filters to the window cleaning. I mean, everything that's happened since then. It's been I'm very thankful for all of you. So thank you so much for that. And again, all the fire department, the people, the volunteers, and the just everybody to get here was very, very helpful and very thankful.

They said if my wife was not here, the house would have been gone. Sheesh.

Which is a crazy thing to think about.

Yeah. Like it was it was going to be as fast as they could. And I mean, it took the fire department about 20 minutes to get here, which I think is we are on the far end of like where the fire department, like the the our fire department like area. Sure, sure. Now there's closer fire departments, but we're not technically like in their thing, sort of, I guess. I don't know how it works. Which is a crazy thing. Crazy thing. I guess that's a different case. Now they all came because of the I guess, I guess if you if you if there's a fire alarm that goes off, and again, I'm just speaking of what I think I was told. If a fire alarm goes off, like your your department gets the call. Now, so when when Ashley called 911, the lady's like, okay, the fire department is has been alerted. And the lady was like, Is there actual like a fire? Like is there flames? Yeah, yeah. And she's like, Yes. She goes, okay, and then that minute went out to like everybody the closest. That's cool. So I think if it's like just a fire alarm, like or smoke, or like we don't want to send everybody, but she's like, There's flames, it's like, okay, they're coming. That's good. Even to a point that that um I think Swickley didn't even get like there was enough people here before Swickley even got here. You know, so yeah, but it was but again, very thankful to everybody all their help, and so everything was was good and we made it.

Just be ready. Just be ready. We we order we're ordering a couple like smaller ones to let the kids even practice using them.

Yeah, like hey, listen, yeah, here's how you do it.

Pull the pin, squeeze the everyone's a little different. We're gonna you know, make sure we have a like we have a bigger one that's in our garage, yeah. That like probably could have been probably could have put that out quicker. But get into it, get into it, you know, and like just there was a lot, there was a lot involved with the you know, turning the power off and making sure everything's you know, and I'm just not being here is miserable.

Oh yeah, but I'm saying like the like electrical features. You gotta turn it like you gotta turn the electric off.

So electric had to get turned off, and then we turn the electric off. Well then the generator kicks on.

So now you gotta, you know, so there's just a lot involved. So just yeah, just just take a minute, go out and talk to your kids about fire, like the safety where you know where your blankets are, know where your fire extinguishers are, know how to get, you know, have have one of your little ladders on the second floor, those little they they make those fire ladders for kids' rooms. They drop right down, they're real small. So just just have have the ability, have a plan because Ashley said, because she went back in, I think, to grab their bunnies. Even and it was just smoke, it wasn't crazy, but it was it was enough that she was like, I can see where people are like, this is like she goes, we had a small fire that created some smoke, and I'm like having a hard time to breathe. Like just go back in. It was, I mean it's crazy.

Well, and I and there'd been I don't know how long it was until I got there, but I went over. I mean, it was it was pretty gnarly when I walked in. Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, and I and I don't and I I was just asking, like, there's smoke everywhere, and I was like, How bad is it? And I asked my dad asked you, and you're like, No, it's it's legit. And I'm like, dang. And so just just make sure y'all have a plan, is what I'm saying, I guess. So yeah, anyway. Um football on PSA. There you go. There you go. And then from there we went to Dude Perfect.

Oh, yeah, which is uh a much more fun story, which is a fun story, yeah. Um and I don't know, again, we did that live in Hershey. I got to take uh our good friends, uh friends of the show, just I had a team of five to challenge the five dudes uh in some some of their games that they're really good at. Yeah, you were playing. It was a real sport.

So they yeah, they it was a real sport. You were so they have uh any of you guys that know Dre Perfect, they have a like a segment or a thing that's called the squad games. Squad games. Yeah, and they they are now currently on tour with the squad games, correct?

Yeah, they go live in venue, so it's they they do some that they tape, like golf courses and whatever where they challenge certain people. Sure. And they did like a WWE one recently, certain certain ones. Yeah, so yes, they've done those, they've done the Savannah Bananas, good, good. But they do some live in arenas. So we did it live at Hershey Stadia, at Hershey Um Giant or Giant Arena or whatever. We did it there. So there were five of us versus five of them in different games. I don't again, it's not like I'm telling you a secret. I don't know if they're gonna put it out there or what, but um, people were there, so we did everything from go-kart soccer to a quarterback challenge to archery um tag to um a golf, but crazy golf. Um dunk tank thing, a dunk tank challenge. So all kinds of fun, unique things. But uh was myself, um Justin Bryan, a friend of the show. If you all know, can't make black and good thing that wasn't part of the challenge. Good thing making a black and a black and tan. Um, our good friend Brandon. And Conley was there. Um, who everybody, if you watch the show, you know how much he loves his sours. Uh, I I grabbed a good friend of ours uh that has been on this show, uh Levi Morgan. Yes, 20 billion time world champion archer, was on uh on our team. And um I don't think we've had Jeremy on the show. We have his I can't fit his arms in frame. Yeah, uh tank top, uh Jeremy Camp, good friends of ours, um, was on our team as well. So we went and challenged him, had a great time, so much fun doing all that stuff. We're there kind of all day um doing it with them. The kids got to all come and see all the dudes and be a part of it and and throw the footballs and and just kind of have the fun. So that was a that was a really fun time as well.

She just wants everyone to have fun. But uh after watching like the videos, what's it like when you have to actually do those things in person?

So yeah, they might get lucky, but they're edu, like they're good at what they do. They they practice these things, they know what they're doing. Like we we were talking all the way home, and it might have just been us talking trash. So, Ty, you hear me? Um, like if we could have done that like two more times and then did it, we would have felt a lot more confident. Sure. Yeah, yeah. Because it went to a game seven, it was fun. We we had chances to win. They also they also know what they need to do to win. You know, is is um they get help from their people.

To a to a little uh to a certain extent.

Obviously, um like the first challenge we did was like a football thing where there's like multiple different football, one person does each thing. So hitting a moving object, quick throwing, throwing from distance. So I mean everybody knows how to throw football. So that was you know, we beat them, that was pretty good. Um, that one, dude. Yeah, I know. Yeah, golf was uh was a little golf, it's just like being an athlete, hit the ball and go get it. Because you're kicking you're hitting a kickball or dodge ball, you know, it's like just hit and run. Uh dunk tank, throwing a ball, go-kar soccer. Of course, that's just like that's tough. Yeah, just get it. Those guys are good at that. Um I think they invented that. I don't think that's a thing. The hardest part was like the archery. Yeah, we had Levi and myself who hunt, um, but but like Brendan and and and Justin doesn't do a lot of archery. Like those guys weren't yeah, like you. I think Brendan even took one to like the thing to the arm and like got a whole bruise on his arm.

Because the guy was staring at me, waiting on me to shoot, and so I'm like, Levi, shoot him, shoot him, Levi. And Levi bing right in the side of the head. So too good headshots. He was too good. Doesn't count. So anyway, that was our dude perfect experience, too. Yeah, a lot of fun. They ended up beating us in the finals, but it was still a great time. Hey.

We were at we had a basketball team at the school I went to in St. Pete. And um, oh, that smells great. And um, we would like our big game that we traveled to was Trinity. Okay. And it I mean, and it felt like a forever ago. It might have been an hour like bus ride, but it felt like forever because we were young. Bro, every year we'd go there and they just would like maul us. Right, it wasn't even close. Like, not it, like if we were an okay basketball team, you would have thought we just found out what the sport was. It was so bad. I don't even know the name of the school, but they were in Trinity. But we would it just they had to go. They there's no point in us going. We would go, they completely manhandle us, and then we'd come back and we had to sit on the bus for a while. I love it. So that's my experience with Trinity.
