Faith's Narrow Gate: Walking the Path with God
Have you ever found yourself at a spiritual crossroads, unsure which path to take? In this deeply moving episode, host Stephanie L Harrison returns to the studio after a brief hiatus, bringing along her daughter PJ who celebrates her 17th birthday on Juneteenth. Together, they navigate profound biblical truths about faith, patience, and authentic relationship with God.
The conversation opens with a powerful devotional about life's journey, emphasizing that spiritual growth isn't instantaneous but requires consistent effort and patience. PJ offers a remarkably mature perspective, comparing spiritual development to relationships: "God doesn't work like that. If you were in a relationship with someone for three days, you wouldn't move in with them on day three." This insight sets the tone for an exploration of how God prepares us for blessings we don't yet realize we're not ready to receive.
Mother and daughter delve into Psalms 21, revealing God as our ultimate source of strength and joy, before exploring Jeremiah 33:3 – what they call our spiritual "911 call." This divine invitation to direct communication with our Creator promises wisdom beyond human understanding. The discussion reaches its zenith when examining Matthew 7's teachings about judgment, seeking truth, and bearing authentic spiritual fruit.
Perhaps most compelling is PJ's candid assessment of her generation as "lost in a maze," contrasted with her passionate declaration that "this side is better" – referring to life guided by faith. Her fresh perspective challenges listeners across generations to examine whether their spiritual lives display merely leaves or true fruit. "Some people might have leaves on their tree but they ain't really bearing no fruit," she observes with wisdom beyond her years.
Whether you're beginning your spiritual journey or seeking renewal on a well-traveled path, this conversation reminds us that God's love drives out fear, nothing is too difficult for Him, and the narrow gate, though challenging to find, leads to abundant life. Start your mornings with gratitude rather than screen time, and watch how even small steps toward spiritual growth transform your perspective on everything.
new, new, new, everything new, new, new, new, new, new, everything new. I'm ready to go. Hello, hello, it is stephanie l harrison and you are now listening in to inside beauty inspires, where we motivate, encourage and inspire through biblical principles. I have missed you guys so very much. I'm so happy to be back in the studio. You, you listen. You know, sometimes God gives you a time out, sometimes you got to take a little break, and so that's what I've been doing, but I've still been getting into my word each and every single day, always and forever. I have got to give the ladies of Iron Sharpen Iron, ladies of ISI a shout out. You guys, I thank you so very much for sticking in with me.
Speaker 1:You know, this is eight year. This is year eight that we get up each and every morning and see God's face every single day, and it's such a rewarding thing. And one thing that I wanted to tell you guys, the listeners out here, is that if you start seeking God's face as well, you'll start to see your life turn around for the better. So I'm so excited about what God is doing. I'm so excited about the remainder of this year. We have six more months to go before the end of this year, and so I'm anticipating, anticipating and in expectancy to see what God is going to do this year. He's got promises. This Bible is full of promises and declarations and decrees from our father through his prophets, and so there's not like we cannot have access to heavenly things, but the only way for us to have access to heavenly things is to get into the word of God. So I'm gonna say it each and every single time get into your word. It's the most important, best thing that you can give yourself. It is so satisfying and it does a body good.
Speaker 1:So also today, I have a special guest in the building, this young lady. I've known her for 17 years. You know she has the spirit of an angel, she's sweet as she can be, and you know she's going to be a senior next year. She is growing up and I'm so excited to have her in here with me. It's none other than my baby, my daughter Pharrell Josiah Burnside. Pj, tell the people hello today. Hi, how are you feeling being in the studio with your mom?
Speaker 2:I'm feeling really good about being in the studio today. I'm just happy that my mom has me here doing these things with her.
Speaker 1:Amen, Amen. So, Pharrell, you're celebrating your birthday 6-19. How are you feeling about this year?
Speaker 2:I am feeling great. I'm just thanking the Lord for another year. Heavenly Father, I'm just thanking Him so much because, you know, some people don't really, especially in this generation, some people really don't get to make it to 17. I'm just so blessed that I have been able to make it to 17.
Speaker 1:Amen, amen Beautiful, beautiful observation, by the way Amen, amen, beautiful, beautiful observation, by the way, amen. And so, look, I want you to you know, before we jump into the word today, because we do have some exciting words of encouragement, we have a devotional and I want PJ to read this devotional to you guys so that you guys can get a little bit, you know, insight to what we're going to be speaking about this morning, this afternoon, whenever you're listening.
Speaker 2:It's called the Journey.
Speaker 1:Ooh the Journey.
Speaker 2:I say to myself the Lord is my inheritance. Therefore I will hope in him. The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. It is so good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. Lamentations 3, 24 through 26.
Speaker 2:It is important that you remember that all that you go through is a journey. It is about learning to trust God more and more and being transformed into the likeness of Christ. There will be joys, there will be sorrows, and God uses them all to perfect your faith. Through every moment of your life, you'll learn to stand on every promise God has made to you, believe in every promise and pray in faith. You'll develop the patience to wait and rest in him and going, a greater trust for the perfection of his ways and his timing. But you don't think for a second that you won't experience doubt and despair along the way.
Speaker 2:It is when you do that you need to look up to where your help comes from, because it is through God's faith that you are assured of hope and victory. Faith that you are assured of hope and victory. Trust that because he is faithful, because his compassions fail not, you can hope in him. He has just enough love and grace stored up especially for you. He will not let you down. Search for him continuously. He will not let you down. Search for him continuously. Depend on him, wait quietly and wait well for him and put your hope in him alone.
Speaker 1:Amen, Amen. What was your takeaway from that word? You know, I'm always asking somebody what did you get? What?
Speaker 2:was your takeaway? My takeaway from this word is that it is a journey, it is a walk with God. There's things that's not going to happen automatically, and I feel like when people start following God, they are supposed to get instant blessings, blessings off rip. But God doesn't work like that, like if you were in a relationship with someone for three days, you wouldn't move in with them on day three. Come on, because you haven't built a relationship with them.
Speaker 2:I like that you haven't trust the process you haven't built. It takes time, amen, and there's things that you will definitely have to go through on your walk with God, but you know, you just got to keep your faith in him and keep trusting in him. God can't give you the blessing that you think you're ready for, because he knows you're not ready.
Speaker 1:Oh, that's it right there.
Speaker 2:That's why waiting on God's timing is so important, because he will build you and mold you for the blessings that he has in store for you, and people expect so much from God but isn't in the place to receive the blessings that God has in place for them. That's it, so you have to build that relationship with him so he can change you and allow you to get to know him, so you can accept him into your heart.
Speaker 1:I love that. I love that, PJ. Wow, what beautiful words of encouragement. Because it's a heart posture, it's a heart matter. Right At the end of the day, that's what God wants to change More than anything. It's your heart posture. You know, we think and that was a beautiful, by the way. I love that analogy Because, true story you don't meet somebody and just move in with them the next day.
Speaker 1:Well, some people do Some things. Sometimes it works out that way. However, in the reality of things, you want to get to know the person that you're going to be moving in with. You want to get to know, you know these people that you're in a relationship with. Why don't you think you need to get to know your father is, or his son? And that's the hope that we all need for real, Honestly, it truly is. So I thank you for that word of those words of encouragement. This morning, I want you to go to Psalms 21. So, you know, one thing that I want to speak right now is that I allow my children to be free. On today, you know, 619, that is Pharrell's birthday, and we are also celebrating the freedom of us, you know, being enslaved for so long, and this being our declaration of independence. And so you know, PJ, how does it feel to know that you were born on the Freedom Day. 619 is your day.
Speaker 2:It feels good, you know, just to know that the history behind my day, there's a lot of history behind it. It's not. I don't look at it as, oh, it's just PJ's day, although it is, but it's still a day we celebrate, know the freedom of us, and I really appreciate that amen, amen, amen.
Speaker 1:Thank you so much, bj. Beautiful words, okay. Well, let's talk about it. Let's get into Psalms 21, because you know you was like uh, mama, I got a word for you. Pharrell called me today, y'all. I just gotta tell y'all this first, pharrell called me today and she's like mom, you know she's doing her studying and she's like mom I got a word for. And before we get into Psalms 21, I want to tell you what Psalms is. What's the whole gist of the book of Psalms? Okay, so, whenever you start to go to the Bible and you start to read about these stories or about these people, you know they went through life experiences as well.
Speaker 1:One of the persons, people that we talk about a lot is David. David is one of the authors of Psalms, and the purpose of the book of Psalms is to communicate with God and to worship him. You know it's compiled over a time span and it could be separated into five collections. In other words, they have five different themes, okay, prayers and expressions of confidence in God's salvation Community. The book ends with the Royal Psalms Prayer of lament and distress, more intense and bleak than in the other books. In other words, there were times where David had to call out to the Lord, and you know, like Psalms 35 for once, or Psalms 91. These are some of the Psalms that will help you get through your day, and so today we're gonna talk about Psalms 91. These are some of the Psalms that will help you get through your day, and so today we're going to talk about Psalms 21. So go ahead for real, if you wait for us this morning, this evening or afternoon, whenever you guys are listening.
Speaker 2:Lord the King finds joy in your strength. How greatly he rejoices in your victory. You have given him his heart's desire and you will not deny the request of his lips For you meet him with rich blessings. You place a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked you for life and you gave it to him Length of days, forever and ever. His glory is great. Through your victory, you confer majesty and splendor him. You give him blessings, Amen, Amen.
Speaker 1:So, of course, you know, where did you get from? Well, let me, just before Pharrell gives us her takeaway, I want to talk about Psalms 21 for a moment here. So David affirms God as the source of his strength and the foundation of his joy. He praises God for giving him his heart's desire, including victory over his enemies. The Lord had given him abundant blessings, including the preservation of his life and the majesty that went along with being king, as well as the joy of God's presence. In other words, because he understands and affirms that God is his strength and foundation, he praises God. He praises God.
Speaker 1:And you know, a lot of times people aren't praising and worshiping God. They're not because they don't understand that the victory is ours by his design. You know they're not because they don't understand that the victory is ours by his design. You know the Lord had given abundant blessings, including life, and when I think about that, pharrell, I think about the life that he gave us. You know, life in his son. Can you not attest to the strength that God will give you when you call out to him? You can. Can you give some examples of when you called out to the Lord and he literally heard your cry and he gave you that strength to know that victory was his and yours.
Speaker 2:So I used to want to be more spiritually intelligent and I could do not, like the next day I was more spiritually intelligent, like when I was speaking a word, it was just like a flowing and I was like no way, no way. I just said this, like no way. Speaking the word, it was just like a flowing and I was like no way, no way. I just said this, like no way I'm not stuttering, not mispronouncing words Like it was just the flow. And I really thank God for that, because that's something I really wanted.
Speaker 1:Amen, amen. Well, the Bible says to Jeremiah that if you open your mouth, I'll fill it with the words to say and so that's what you're explaining. Like you can't explain how you were speaking, so, like, like it was a flow, you know, like you, like, I know what you're talking about because it's happened to me, um, as well. And when that happens, it's like you get so excited because you know that God is using you in a, in a major way. Now did you, did you have? Did you want to speak on some more? Now, did you want to speak on some more? No, okay. So verse seven it says what was the key to David's state of blessing? The faithful love or covenant, faithfulness of the most high. David's stability could not be shaken because of the intimacy of their relationship. God had the freedom to act on the king's behalf. God had the freedom to act on the king's behalf. God had the freedom to act on the king's behalf. So that intimacy, what you were speaking about, the relationship with God, is a must, wouldn't you say so?
Speaker 2:Yes, I would. And I feel like some people, they get into their word and they just be like oh, I read the word every day, oh to church, but like are you bearing fruit? Do you know the Lord are you? Do you know him in your heart? And that's something we have to do. We have to have a strong, grounded relationship with the Lord amen, amen, beautiful.
Speaker 1:And then verses 8 through 10 says because David's enemies were also God's enemies. Now let me just pause for a minute. We don't have, we don't, we don't and you have talked about this before outside of the studio. Do you want to be on the other side? Do you want to be on the side of being God's enemy? I know you don't, but go ahead and tell the people. Tell the people why.
Speaker 2:I don't. I don't because it's not a good place to be, and I'm going to tell y'all like there was times where I was in my word, I was so thriving for the Lord, but then other times where I felt so distant. And the times that I did feel distant, it's like I don't want to be here, this is not where I want to be Like.
Speaker 2:When it's not with God. It doesn't even feel right. So I just like being in tune with the Lord. It feels it. You know, my spirit gets so high when I'm talking about the Lord, when I'm talking with the Lord and in my Bible, regardless.
Speaker 1:Amen, Amen. So you know, do you feel like your age group, your generation, do you feel like this is something that they need to learn to? What would you say if you could, if God said, PJ, I need you to give a word of encouragement to your generation. What would you give? What word of encouragement to your generation? What would you give? What word of encouragement would you give your generation?
Speaker 2:I would tell my generation that it's better over here, it's better on this side of the fence, because my generation is a lot going on. Girl, that's what you tell them Like I'm telling you. I just turned 17 and I don't even want to get into what they do or how they act, but it's not following the Lord and they think it's fun. They think the things they do are fun, but actually being with the Lord and knowing the Lord, that's fun.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:Having high spirits all the time. That's fun and I feel like they haven't even gave it a try yet. I mean they might read their words, sometimes put like Bible scriptures on their story. But like actually getting to know God is a blessing.
Speaker 2:And you'll see the overflowing blessings that will come into your life, like the people you will bring into your life, to change you, because God really wants to change you. He's not going to stop. He's a loving God. He wants to see you flourish. He's not going to stop. He's a loving God. He wants to see you flourish. He's not going to just look at you oh, you're not doing right, I'm just going to leave you how you is. No, he actually wants to help each and every one of us, especially this generation here. So I feel like God is really using me and using the people around me to spread the word more so we can have more people in the kingdom of heaven.
Speaker 1:Amen, amen, p. I love it. I love it. This side is better. It really truly is, you know, because, like David, david's enemies were God's enemies and we need to start looking at things like that.
Speaker 1:Another thing about being God's enemy is God's wrath. God's wrath is not something that you want to be a part of. It says here God's wrath will devour them and end their hopes of having any offspring. When we are closely united to God in a family relationship, our enemies are his enemies. Is that not the best part about waking up?
Speaker 1:I'm just saying, when you wake up and you know that God is on your side, you can't lose. That's the most amazing feeling ever. For me, it is, and I'm so happy, you know, to hear you speak to your generation with such passion, with such confidence, with such boldness, because that's exactly what you guys need. You know, I know that God is raising you up. You know, for this generation, I know that God is going to use your voice in this generation because they're going to listen when you speak. Pj, you know, I see it in you. You've given, you've given me some words of encouragement, right, and so I've also witnessed God bring people into your life, like your friends and how you know you're encouraging and inspiring your friends to get into their word. You know, get closer to God.
Speaker 1:So I think it's such an amazing thing it says here regardless of what David's enemies had plotted against him, god would turn their plans against them. The strength and power of God are to be forever exalted in praise. Is that not a beautiful promise for his children? Yes or no? Yes, absolutely right. Go ahead, elaborate on it. What do you think about the people just starting to for those? Ok, let me ask you this question what would you say to those people that they're a little skeptical about coming closer to God because they don't know what that looks like? They don't. They've never seen it before. They've never seen it before They've never seen it before.
Speaker 2:I would tell them what would I say? I would just tell them like if they seen me, because I want to be not a walking image of God, but I want to have God's light. Like when you look at me you're like, oh, I know she and her were. I want that Jesus glow. I want that Jesus glow.
Speaker 1:She said the Jesus glow y'all.
Speaker 2:So I want them like when they look at me, they're like she looks so happy, she has this light, like what is that about her? And I'm? It's Jesus.
Speaker 1:That part, that part be saying this can be you.
Speaker 2:You can have that light, you can have that glow, you can have that over-feeling love and that spirit, that high spirit. And I would tell them, I would just be like, if you come over here, you're never going to want to go back. Say it again for people in the back You're never going to want to go back.
Speaker 1:You won't want to go back. Y'all You're not.
Speaker 2:You're not, because this space is a safe space. It's a genuine space because you actually have someone that loves for you and care for you. And sometimes I ain't going to lie when I used to look at people in this generation, I would judge them a little bit because, like, what are you doing? Why are you not getting your word? Why are you moving how you're moving? Because this is not the right way to heaven. But now I have to change. I had to change.
Speaker 1:I had to get into my word myself. Come on, girl speak.
Speaker 2:And my thoughts changed like no, no, you shouldn't be judging this person, you should be helping them amen so whenever. I see someone going on the wrong path, I like to just, you know, give them an encouraging word, because it can take a little step, the smallest step for you to be that in somebody's life. Like they can, it don't even have to be big. You can say one little thing to them and their whole life changes. I want to be that change in somebody's life.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, that's what I think Amen, amen, pj, when you said that, it made me think of the scripture, and I believe it's in Psalms, where you know you have to watch. No, it's in the New Testament, but he talks about with the same tongue. You can either edify or tear down and I like the way that you just made that. You know that you just spoke that word because it makes perfect sense. At the end of the day, y'all, we all, have a decision to make. We can either choose to get to know him or we can choose to not know him. You know and I thank you so much for your transparency because it wasn't until you started getting into the word that you realize that. No, I can't come off as judgmental, it's. I believe it's in second Timothy, chapter two, where he tells us to gently correct those you know. Gently give them in correction, show them. You know the way to walk by being the light, being the demonstration. God will use you to demonstrate who he is. All you got to do is trust his word.
Speaker 1:Now again, psalms 21 is a royal Psalms, meaning that it focuses on the king and his reign. While the subject matter may feel a little bit foreign to today's readers, it is yet a crucial concept within the Christian faith. God's people were ruled by a king during Israel's monarchy period, and the king was responsible for bringing God's will to pass. Now the king held the highest calling of bringing justice and righteousness to bear in a way that blessed his people and the surrounding and the surrounding nations looking forward to Christ's coming reign. Then God's people can relate to the expressions of eager anticipation, anticipation that the king will be granted unending blessings. Indeed, the deepest longing of humanity is for the perfect leader, the discerning judge, the ultimate provider, the champion of peace and the king of love.
Speaker 1:Thus, the church today likewise must pray for Christ to come as king over all. After all, god placed all things under Jesus's feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body and the fullness of him, who feels everything in every way. God placed everything under his feet. So, at the end of the day, if we put our hope and our trust in his son, it gives us a direct line to the father yes or no? Yes, you know. You know what makes me want. You know where I want to go to now. I want to go to Jeremiah 33. I want you to read today.
Speaker 2:While he was still confined in the guard's courtyard, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time. The Lord who made the earth, the Lord who forms it to establish it, the Lord is his name says this Call to me and I will answer you and tell you. Great and incomprehensive.
Speaker 1:Mm-hmm. Incomprehensive.
Speaker 2:Incomprehensive things you do not know.
Speaker 1:Man, oh man, oh man. Call to me who's speaking, who's speaking? God, Amen, amen. So he's telling us to do what Call to him.
Speaker 2:Come to him Right right.
Speaker 1:Why did I want you to read that? Because here's, I asked God today. I said what do you want the message to be? You know I have been gone for a minute. You know I recorded in January. Here I am, back in June, and you know, I brought my daughter with me today, you know, because we're celebrating her birthday and this is the birthing of a new thing. And so, you know, I asked him. I said, dad, what do you want me to speak about? And he said Jeremiah 33, three. Now I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 1:It was pretty interesting, y'all, because, um, one of the ladies of ISI, um, miss Billy, she actually had a dream and she told me about this dream and she said the Lord wanted me to tell you to give the people 33 scriptures. 33 scriptures. And I was like God, what are you saying? What you know? What do you want me to give? And he said I want you to give them Jeremiah 33, verse three. And I'm just like wow, is that not? I know, billy, I haven't had a chance to tell you this, I know you're hearing it for the first time on the show, but I just thought that was so interesting, because God has this way of delivering messages.
Speaker 1:33, verse three. That is our, that's like our 911 call PJ. You know how everybody knows 911? Yeah, everybody knows who to call, where to call in case of an emergency. Yeah, so this is the best way for me to get you to remember this scripture. Jeremiah 33, verse 3 says call to me and I will, and I will give you, I will tell you things that you know nothing about. So that means that you don't have to call people. You can actually call on your father and what does he do? And tell he sends people to you, right? So this is such a surety plan. What do you think about what you just read, pj? What do you get from that?
Speaker 2:I think that the Lord wants us to come to him when we're in need of help and he will send people to us. But sometimes we have to have self-discipline and allow us to take that constructive criticism, because sometimes we might not want to hear it, but if it helps you on your walk with God, then you need to hear it. You have to tell yourself PJ, this is something that you need to hear. It doesn't even matter. You have to deny the flesh.
Speaker 1:Amen Amen.
Speaker 2:You have to accept that somebody is trying to correct your heart, because this is somebody God sent to you. Ask him, you literally asked him God. I want to get closer to you, I want to be this for you, I want to do this and that for you, but when God sends you somebody to help you, do that you, oh, I don't want to listen to you I don't.
Speaker 2:I don't like what you're saying. No, you can't be like that. They're trying to fix your heart. They want to help you. It's not to hurt you, it's to help you, and God will send people like that in your life.
Speaker 1:Amen, amen, beautiful, beautifully stated. You know I didn't want you to read chapter 33 in its entirety, but I do want to read the commentary here, just to give some insight on what chapter 33 is about. Oh, the first verses, one through 13. It says chapter 33 contains further details about the ultimate restoration of God's people after the devastating judgment of the Babylonian captivity. Neither Jeremiah nor anyone else could ever have put these two things together on his own. They had to be revealed by the God, who said call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know. Those things included Judah's in minute judgment, but also the coming day of when God will restore the fortunes of Judah and of Israel and reveal them as in former times. The picture that followed of a restored people in a restored land where there was joy and gladness must have been an encouragement to Jeremiah as he heard the clanking of the Babylonian tools as they built siege ramps against Jerusalem walls.
Speaker 1:So this message today is for somebody out there to know that God hears you. God wants to speak, god wants to talk. Are you ready to listen? Are you ready to do Jeremiah 33, verse 3? Call to me and I will answer you and I will tell you things that you do not know. Now, pj, this is one of my favorite scriptures in this Bible. It really is, and I'm gonna tell you why. Because I've always done that. You know, of course you, being my child, you know how we grew up. You know I've always said, all right, y'all, let's pray about this, let's pray about that. I've always included God into everything, every aspect of our lives, and so do you not see how important it is to add that to the equation of your life?
Speaker 2:I see it's very, very important.
Speaker 2:And it's really looking at my mom's life and how far we have came. She's literally a reflection of what it says when we read Psalms 21, verse 21. Um so, and it was saying how, like god will bless you unlimited blessings, and he will put a crown on your head. You will have royal, this royal that god has brought us from a place where we were. I ain't gonna lie, we, we had nothing like we started from a small place and we've. We are so much bigger and better now and I give all thanks to the Lord because we would not even be here without him.
Speaker 2:Like some, seriously Like, because, like when we, in those moments where we feel like we have nobody, we have nothing, we can't turn to nobody, that's when God wants you to turn to him and I feel like he puts us in those moments so he can talk to nobody. That's when God wants you to turn to him and I feel like he puts us in those moments so he can talk to us. He will allow things to happen in your life so he can get to you.
Speaker 1:It's not to hurt you.
Speaker 2:He wants you here with him, because sometimes, when we are going through something, that's the only time we really look to God. But God wants us to look for him and he will help us through that. But he wants us to have that him and he will help us through that. But he wants us to have that continuation where we are still looking on to him after the fact that he's done all these things. Because people don't even realize after they're out of whatever they're going through. They don't even give God thanks.
Speaker 2:They don't even say, Lord, thank you so much for getting me out of this position. They just go on to the back that we're doing and that's why it happens again and again, and again.
Speaker 2:And so you actually turn to God. See, god will give us tests, but if we do not pass those tests, he will give us retests. And until we pass those tests, god is just going to keep. Okay, look, I'm allowing this to happen because I want you to see me and we have to see God and we have to continuously seek his face, not only when we're in times of trouble, we're hurting, we're going through a heartbreak.
Speaker 1:Oh, my boyfriend just broke up with me.
Speaker 2:God needs you. No, you need to need him every day, every hour, and just seek his faith.
Speaker 1:I love that boy. You just got me so excited. Over here I'm all smiling. Y'all should see me over here, y'all, when I say I'm a proud mom. I am a proud mom Because let me tell you something, she's telling the God honest truth.
Speaker 1:My children watch the faith. They watched the hand of God on our lives. That's why, you know, it's hard for people to really tell me, pj, if I can keep it a G with you real quick, like it's hard for people to talk to me when it comes down to the word of God, because I've literally watched his hand on my life. You know what I'm saying. I seek him, I call out to him, I do what the word says, and, and, and. My life is a reflection of my faith. You know to hear my children say the things that they say about what God has done, it just it puts things in perspective on a whole nother level. So again, pj, thank you for that word as well. You know what I'm saying. It made me a little teary eyed. I ain't gonna lie to you. You know what I'm saying Because, because God is so real, and then you know, just like you were saying to them, you were telling them it's important to need him every single day, like, not just when you're going through things. You know, I love that because he's an on time God and he wants a relationship with you. He wants the intimacy with you Now.
Speaker 1:Throughout the book of Jeremiah, it is clear that the people have forsaken God and had completely wandered away from him Pretty much what it looks like today. Ok, and however, in spite of their sin, god promised to stay with them. All he desired was that they call to him and ask him for help. God sent the people into exile, but he also clearly promised that they would one day return to the land. Chapter 33 includes a beautiful listing of the blessings God would shower on his people to show that he still wanted them back despite their unfaith.
Speaker 1:Matthew, chapter 7. Pj, can you go to Matthew, chapter 7 for me? I'm going to ask you to read verses 1 through 7 in just a moment, because there's something that Jesus says in here that I want you guys to understand, and a lot of times, people misinterpret the verse that I'm going to have PJ well, the verses that I'm going to have PJ to speak. You know they misinterpret this verse to mean that God will give believers whatever they ask for. But this is simply not true.
Speaker 1:Anyone who has prayed for a new car and found the same old car sitting in the driveway the next morning knows that God is not some sort of heavenly vending machine. Okay, he's not a genie in a bottle. Okay, he does not simply say yes to every prayer. However, for those who ask in faith and seek him, yes, I say seek him, because it's in the seeking that you find him, and those who seek him find him. When they seek him with all their heart, god will give them whatever he, whatever it is he, wants for them. Thankfully, the gifts and directions that God gives to his people are are are better than what they even asked for.
Speaker 1:You think that you want this, but, man, the Bible tells me that eyes haven't seen, ears haven't heard, nor has the internet to the heart of man the things he has in store for those who love him. I could have never imagined what God had in store for my life, but I trusted him. I believed in his son. I continuously believe in his son and in times of hardship and turmoil, we're giving you the words of encouragement to believe as well. God wants his people to turn to him so that he can help them. Jeremiah 33, three says call to me if that, if God's people call to him, he will tell them great and unsearchable things that they do not know. The same is true for believers today who find themselves confused and in need. Through his word, through his son and through his spirit, god offers answers for his people's deepest life questions, no matter their circumstances, and I absolutely love it here, pj. Let's hear what it says in Matthew, chapter 7.
Speaker 2:Do not judge so that you won't be judged For. You will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use.
Speaker 1:Why do you look at the?
Speaker 2:splinter in your brother's eye and don't notice the beam of wood in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother let me take your splinter out of your eye and look, there's a beam of wood in your own eye.
Speaker 1:Hypocrite, Wow Keep going, keep on going, or they will trample them under their feet, turn and tear you to pieces. Keep going, keep on going, keep going.
Speaker 2:Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you, for everyone who asks receives and the one who seeks finds.
Speaker 1:And the one who knocks. The one who knocks the door knocks, the door will be open. Amen, amen and amen pj, the bible, to who's speaking. I always like to ask people who's speaking? God, why you say god is speaking?
Speaker 2:because this is exactly what he. This is. This is exactly what god wants us to do. He doesn't want us to. As I was saying earlier how I judged other people when I should have been helping them, come on, he don't want us to sit there and judge. This is literally. This is literally what I was talking about right here. He doesn't want us to look at somebody, judge them. Oh, they moving like this. Oh, they moving like that. He wants to. He wants you to help them. He wants to. He want to use you. God will use you as a vessel, but first you have to be ready for him to use you Because, like sometimes, you might be like God. Oh, why are you not using me? I don't know. I want to be your vessel, but are you in that position to help somebody?
Speaker 2:Oh God Are you in that position to tell them the word of God right. Are you in that position? You have to ask yourself are you in that position? Because that's what we have to be. We have to be in that position to give off the love of God to others. We can't just do it Like it is not like that To actually entertain information. You have to entertain information so you can let them know and they're going to retain that information as well.
Speaker 1:so that's really a heart check, like hey, I love you, yo keep going, you're doing it. Y'all ain't gonna stop me, girl. Y'all heard what my baby said. It's really a heart check.
Speaker 2:But go ahead. Yeah, like heart check, like, do you like, are you good enough to be used as a vessel?
Speaker 1:Do you know the word of God? Do you know the word of God? Yeah, because ultimately, at the end of the day, I just had to sit back and let you out of your moment because you was right. I mean, did God put you in that position to give somebody that word? But a lot of times, people do what they want to do.
Speaker 2:Pj, they do what they want to do, and then they be wondering why they ain't got no friends. No more, because they do what they want to do, not what the Lord wants them to do Amen To God be the glory.
Speaker 1:It's the true thing. It's the true thing. And then you know, if we keep reading on down here. It says here you, parents, if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not. So if, how much more will your heavenly father give good gifts to those who ask him? It's in our asking, but it's also in our trusting, it's also in our believing, and so I appreciate you, pj, for speaking and elaborating on this word even more. You know, if we continue to go, keep going.
Speaker 1:Matthew 7 is one of my, one of my favorite chapters, because you really get to hear from God. You know when his son is speaking and we're siblings of him. We should be speaking and acting the same way that Jesus is. It says do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that the taught that, all that is taught in the law and the prophets, but this is the one right here, pj, you can enter God's PJ. You can enter God's kingdom. You can enter God's kingdom only through the narrow gate.
Speaker 1:The highway to hell is broad and its gate is wide for many who choose that way, but the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult and only few ever find it. What do you say to that? Because it's basically what you were just saying. You know, if you really think about it, you said I'm over on the bright side, you need to get on the other side of the fence. I mean, there's two sides there's the unbelieving and then there's the believing. There's those that trust in the Lord and then there's those that don't trust in the Lord. There's those that obey and then there's those that don't obey.
Speaker 2:What I got to say to that is people got to tread lightly.
Speaker 1:Whoa wait a minute I went ready that other side.
Speaker 2:If they really choose to be on that other side, they might think everything is good but like, in reality, no, what we're put on this world to do is to spread God's word, and they're not doing that. We want to enter the kingdom gates of heaven. We want to, but some people don't even think about that because they're not in their word and they're not doing that. We want to enter the kingdom gates of heaven. We want to, but some people don't even think about that Because they're not in their word and they don't take the time to try to get to know God Because they don't. Some people might be like, oh, that ain't real, but okay, you're going to see when he comes back.
Speaker 1:Y'all hear PJ Now. She's speaking to y'all here. She said tread lightly. That was not. She's my daughter, she's mine, she's my child. But you're right, tread lightly, because on that other side it ain't no fun. It really is not no fun. You know, when you think about the narrow gate, a lot of people aren't reading their word, pj. A lot of people aren't. You know. You just spoke about your generation. Do you feel like they're lost?
Speaker 2:They are very lost, confused and everything they in a maze and they don't know how to get out.
Speaker 1:They don't want to get out. Wow, wow, she said a whole maze. That's a mouthful right there, because when you think about a maze, you don't know which way to turn. You know, everywhere you go there's a roadblock or there's something in the way. So what's the way out, pj? What's the way out? The man, the Lord, the Lord is able.
Speaker 2:I'm giving you a word and I'm telling y'all and I want to go back to what my mom was saying earlier about how people ask for a new car when they go outside and still see the old, beat up car outside. Like you, you have to be grateful for what you have now.
Speaker 1:Amen.
Speaker 2:Because, like you can't just ask for this and that and this and that, you ain't even in your Bible for real. You think God going to give you what you want and you're not even in it.
Speaker 1:He going to give you the world, but you got to give him the world first. Oh, y'all heard that. Straight out of the baby's mouth. Straight out of the baby's mouth. She's 17 today. Y'all Listen, god is really using PJ in a major, major way. Shout out to my daughter, pj, I mean, tread Lightly. Y'all heard what she said, tread Lightly. Well, listen, let's keep going.
Speaker 1:It says here, verse 15, beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but really are vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from a thorn bush, or figs from a thursal? A good tree produces good fruit and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can't produce bad fruit and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify the tree by its fruit, you can also identify people by their actions. What do you say to that PJ? Uh-oh, y'all Read that one.
Speaker 1:Listen, I'm almost nervous because y'all she gonna say what she think. Y'all she gonna say what she think. Y'all now said beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. You can. Can you pick grapes from a thorn bush or figs from a thursal? A good tree produces good fruit and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can't produce bad fruit and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.
Speaker 2:Okay, what I got, what I want to say from that is like bear fruits, you have to bear fruit and some people they might have the leaves on their tree but they ain't really bearing no fruit.
Speaker 1:Oh.
Speaker 2:And that will show. It will show how they act, how they talk, because you're speaking from your heart when you talk.
Speaker 1:Oh girl.
Speaker 2:So if your heart not fixed the way, if you're not allowing God to your heart, we're going to see it. You might say I'm in my Bible, I do this and that and the third. But we're going to see it. You might say, oh, I'm in my Bible, I do this and that and the third. But, girl, you don't act like it.
Speaker 1:What? I absolutely love it, PJ, what. That's the truth, though. I mean, don't be walking around here with a bunch of leaves, okay, and ain't nobody fruit on your tree. Somebody come up to get some fruit, and ain't no fruit.
Speaker 1:You know that's a story in the Bible. You remember reading that in the Bible. That's why you said it. I know that's why you said it. Listen y'all. She said the Bible's no, Jesus, you can identify. So you can identify people by their actions. Now, let's keep going. Not everyone who calls out to me, Lord, Lord, will enter in the kingdom of heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day, many will say to me Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name. But I will reply. I never knew you. Get away from me. You will break God's law. All right, PJ. What is your interpretation of that Y'all? I just want to know. We on a roll today. I can't wait to hear what come out of her mouth, though, because she is my child, Okay wait, wait, wait All right, all right, all right.
Speaker 1:She's telling me to read it again, y'all. So not everyone who calls out to me, lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On Judgment Day, many will say to me Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name, performed many miracles in your name. But I will reply. I never knew you. Get away from me, you who breaks God's law.
Speaker 2:Okay, that's really back to what I was saying about bearing fruits. Like you can say, you're doing good deeds. You can do good deeds all day, every day, but do you know God? Do you know?
Speaker 1:who God is. Ooh, PJ, speak Like it's.
Speaker 2:God in your heart, your mind, heart and soul, like, is he there? Is he there? Because, like, people move. Some people I'm not not all Some people move like it's okay to only have leaves on their tree because they feel like, oh, yolo, yolo, until one day I wasn't ready. One day Y'all don't know the day or the hour, y'all don't even know when y'all last takes are on this earth.
Speaker 2:So the fact that y'all even moving like YOLO. It's crazy because, like you don't know, people always say I got time. I got time to do this, I'm trying to have fun right now. I'm trying to get lit right now. No, baby, you don't even have enough time to quote unquote get lit. You want to get lit. Then you stuck lit. And now what you going to do when you stuck lit?
Speaker 2:You can't even get into the kingdom, you're going to be stuck, lit. What you want to do, you want to be lit. And now what? Now you stuck. No, do not See people be. I feel like this world has gotten to people's minds Talk about it P they just be like oh, we're going to the club, finna, turn up, have fun.
Speaker 2:They always talking about my generation. They always talking about oh, two men, oh, I'm looking for a man, I'm seeking, I'm looking Girl. You know, the only thing you need to be seeking and looking for is the Lord.
Speaker 1:Jesus amen.
Speaker 2:What are you getting from that? People don't understand that you are on a task. When you put onto this earth, amen, and they playing with it, they playing with it, they playing with it. You can't play with it. No, because no, we don't even have enough time for that. This is the generation. This is the season where you need to get up.
Speaker 2:That's to everybody, not even just my generation, because we have adults out there too, still thinking they trying to get lit. You is grown, you is almost 50 years old talking about getting lit y'all, my babies, listen.
Speaker 1:We got said, if we open our mouth, he'll fill it with the words of encouragement. Pj is on a roll. Okay, y'all better take heed to what the Lord is saying for real. But she keeping it a G this is from her perspective is what she's speaking of, and she's speaking of her own generation. So at the end of the day, when it's all said and done, is she not speaking the word? Is she not giving you guys the truth? Yes, you don't want to be stuck, you don't want to read from here real quick.
Speaker 1:It says turning from the Pharisees and the scribes to the crowd, jesus told them the truth. People aren't defiled by what goes into them, but by what comes out of them. Yet when he was alone with the disciples, they still didn't understand. So he had to give them a remitt a, a remittal instructions. Bad food may might make you sick. Bad food might make you sick, but it can't make you spiritually unclean. God had given Israel commands about unclean animals they couldn't eat to, to, to teach them about holiness and unholiness. But the ultimately, but ultimately, we are not defiled by foods, we are defiled by what comes out of our hearts.
Speaker 1:You spoke on that earlier PJ, and then the Pharisees were concerned about making themselves look good on the outside, but wickedness came from within. Following customs and traditions can't fix your sinful hearts. I'm going to say that again Following customs and traditions can't fix your sinful hearts. Only Jesus Christ, through his atoning work on the cross, can grant you the forgiveness of sins and a transformed heart that is in sync with God's, enabling you to love him and others. So you know, your heart posture truly does matter. Your heart posture truly does matter.
Speaker 1:I'm going to finish it up right here and I'm going to speak from verses 24 through 29. This will be the entirety of Matthew 7. It says anyone who listens to my teaching and follow it is wise, like a person who builds a house on a solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the flood water rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rain and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash. When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority, quite unlike their teachers of the religious law PJ. What is your takeaway off of that?
Speaker 2:I feel like my takeaway from that is, like from the end, like towards the end, when they were saying people were like astonished by God's teaching and stuff like that. People were astonished by God's teaching and stuff like that. You got to when people like when God uses other people to teach you, like how God was teaching them. You got to be able to listen. You got to be astonished, just like they were astonished because you're going to see God speaking to that person. You're going to see because they already got the Jesus code. They already got the Jesus code. They walked in the room. You're like, oh, shoot. Like oh, why do I feel?
Speaker 1:like this they walked in and I feel good, Something happened. Something happened and you shift the atmosphere. Pj Shift the atmosphere. Ay.
Speaker 2:And you got to, and they're going to speak that word. They're going to speak it good, boldly and clearly, because that's what God, that's what he will allow us to do. God will allow us. When we allow God into our hearts, when we know God with our hearts, he will allow us to speak His word boldly, just how I'm doing today. Y'all I'm like I'm low-key geek because like it's flowing. It's flowing Like I'm saying all the right things. I may stutter a little bit, but I feel good, Like it's a flow, and I'm just thanking God for that.
Speaker 1:Amen, I feel it too for you, like for real. I ain't gonna lie to you. I feel, I feel the, I feel the anointing, I feel the power, I feel I feel, I feel the joy, I feel the presence, I feel the presence of the Lord, and that's the best place to be in the presence of the Lord. You know, according to, I want to read this and then we're going to, we're going to, we're going to share our words of encouragement that we picked today, our cards. I think it's in your Bible, but it says here Jesus demonstrated his genuine humanity and emotional involvement in the lives of those to whom he ministered.
Speaker 1:He looked to heaven and in independence on the father and sighed deeply in sorrow over the man's broken condition. Similarly, jesus wept before he raised Lazarus from the dead. Once the man was healed, jesus ordered them not to tell anyone. Yet the people were extremely astonished and proclaimed it. They were in shock because the word of the Lord stands true. It won't return to you void. So if you stand ten toes down on God's word, he said, he'll never leave you nor forsake you. It gives me this word of encouragement, which I'm going to give in just a moment. But share your word. Share your word with the people today.
Speaker 2:Okay, before I do that, I want to elaborate on what my mama said. Can you read the end of that again? Real?
Speaker 1:quick what I just said. Yeah, okay, I said that. Similarly, jesus— Okay, let me, let me go back over here I said, uh, jesus demonstrated his genuine humanity and emotional involvement in the lives of those to whom he ministered. He looked to heaven and, in dependence on the father inside, deeply in sorrow over the man's broken condition. Similarly, jesus wept before he raised Lazarus from the dead. Once the man was healed, jesus ordered them not to tell anyone. Yet the people were extremely astonished and proclaimed it.
Speaker 2:Okay, I thought I had something to say, but I'm going to read my word.
Speaker 1:Well, somebody needs to hear it over again, so go ahead.
Speaker 2:But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Speaker 1:Can you read that again?
Speaker 2:But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love, and I feel like perfect love drives out fear. That's God's love they're talking about.
Speaker 1:Amen.
Speaker 2:They're not talking about your man's love. No, they're talking about God's love. He's going to drive out the fear. He's going to take those pains, take those worries. He's going to take all of those out. He's got to seek him. And the affirmations are I have nothing to fear. The impulses of fear have been completely removed from my life. My faith is the victory that overcomes fear, sickness and disease. I walk in dominion over the challenges from this world.
Speaker 1:No matter the situation.
Speaker 2:I am moving forward and I am making progress. These affirmations are really good it's really good to say every morning. I feel like we should normalize saying affirmations every morning. You know, just get us started with our day and it will make us feel good Like listening to gospel music when you wake up. That's something I do, like before I go to the gym, or when I wake up getting ready to start my day. Put on a little gospel music, get me a little pumped. My day already good. I already know my day going to be good because I started it off with the Lord. I feel like every time y'all wake up, the first thing y'all do is reach for that phone.
Speaker 1:Y'all is quick to reach for that phone when y'all first wake up. She's speaking prophetically. She's speaking prophetically.
Speaker 2:And I'm talking about myself too, y'all. When I wake up, I'm like, oh, I just got a notification. Who just texted me Like I'm looking, just how y'all looking, I'm looking. But I feel like we need to. When we first wake up, the first thing we need to do is give thanks to the Lord.
Speaker 2:Amen and we need to reach for our Bible, because having daily bread is really good and like you will grow like you might not see it now, but at as the beginning, with, as we was talking about, it's a whole process into getting into growing the fruits on your tree. It's a process, but I feel like some of us, we, we don't even take the time to, we don't even put the time into the Lord. So we have to take the time out our day and give Lord just a scripture, a verse, a chapter a day. It don't even matter. Starting off little, you're going to end up big. You're going to start off little. One day you're going to be like I'm going to read one chapter, okay, you've been reading one chapter. I'm going to read two Okay, I'm getting the hang of it. Three, four five.
Speaker 1:That's going to grow on you. Yes, yes, yes, the Spirit of the Lord will grow on you. You have to allow it, amen. Wow, I'm just over here just geeking myself. Got me smiling. I'm smiling so hard because she's telling you guys the God, honest truth. What a beautiful word. You know, I say that affirmation. That's how come?
Speaker 1:I knew what you were about to say, because I say that every single morning and again, just elaborate, just like PJ said, you know it's important to say these affirmations, or say affirmations daily, but the most important thing is when you wake up is to thank God for the day and start your day off with the five, the beautiful words of encouragement, this, this today on today, pj, my scripture that I want to leave you guys with. Well, actually it's two. The first one is Psalm 68, verse 19. It says blessed be the Lord who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. What that is saying is that we have benefits. There's like a benefit package. Um, when you, when you start seeking God's face and depending upon him, um, and so the affirmations that are on the back of the card says I received the benefits for June, the 19th 2025, pj's birthday. I am creating new wealth and I bring forth a new wealth. I bring forth water out of the rock, I call forth light out of the darkness and today I bring forth plenty out of nothing. So you know again, there are benefits that come along with getting into your word.
Speaker 1:This last word, this last scripture that I want to leave you guys with is Jeremiah 32, verse 27. And this is what it reads Okay, jeremiah 32 verse. It's okay, it's your birthday. It's Jeremiah 32, verse, 27. And this is what it says I am the Lord, the God of all peoples of the world. I'm reading from the New Living Translation.
Speaker 1:Therefore, this is what the Lord says Is there anything too hard for me? Is there anything too hard for me? I'm going to read it again I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me? So I want to leave you guys with that world. Is anything too hard for me? So I want to leave you guys with that word. Is anything too hard for God? The answer is no. No, there's nothing too hard for our father. Trusting him Lean not to your own understanding. Proverbs 3, 5, 6. And Proverbs 27,. 17 says iron sharpens iron. So I hope you guys enjoyed today's show. Pj, do you have any words that you want to leave the ladies and gentlemen with before we close out this beautiful Inside Beauty Inspires episode today?
Speaker 2:I just want to say the Lord, he loves you Everybody, he loves everybody. And it's crazy because, like the Lord loves it, so it's so big, but it's still so like individual. You feel me like god is such an amazing person. I feel like when you turn to him, all your worries will go away. That's not even I feel like. I know that. I know that from personal experience and as young as I am. I just turned 17 today.
Speaker 1:How do you feel PJ?
Speaker 2:I feel good like, especially knowing that I have the Spirit of the Lord in my heart. I just feel so, so good. It makes my birthday 10 times better. It makes it 10 times better, and for me to even come on here and spread the word with you, it just made me feel 10 times better too 20 times better, Like it makes me feel good, like when God uses you as a vessel.
Speaker 2:You will feel good, but you allow, allow. You have to allow God to make those changes and corrections in your life before you, you know. Get all excited about what he's about to do for you. Make sure your heart is right for God.
Speaker 1:Yes, yes, yes, twin, my twin, y'all, that's my twin and them. Hey, go, best friend, you killing them. Listen, I also want to leave you guys with this PJ. Thank you so much for that beautiful word of encouragement. I have enjoyed you, thoroughly enjoyed you.
Speaker 1:I hope you enjoyed this, this session. I hope you enjoyed getting to the word, I hope you enjoy allowing the Lord to use you and, based off of the things that you've been saying and here today, I know that you do enjoy it and I know that you're going to allow God to continue. So I speak blessings over you. I ask God to give you more annoyance and I ask God to show you things you've never seen, and I ask that God allows you to continue to anticipate the things that are in store for you, because you've got a bright future ahead of you, baby girl. You truly do. I want to leave, father, except through me. Jesus is the narrow gate and by following him and living in his power, believers are able to walk upon the path of life. Listen, thank you guys so much for listening. I have an amazing day on purpose, peace. I'm ready to go, ready for more, I'm ready for new, like a straight up start. You already know, I'm ready to flow. I'm ready to flow.
