Seeds of Light: Harvest Season's Call

Stephanie Harrison Season 3 Episode 90

Have you ever wondered why some spiritual seeds flourish while others wither away? What determines whether your life will produce a bountiful harvest or remain stagnant?

In this heartfelt conversation between Prophetess Stephanie L Harrison and her son Tylan Fowler, we dive deep into the biblical principles of harvest season, exploring what it truly means to reap what you sow. Tylan shares powerful insights about patience in the spiritual growth process, revealing how God has been working "overtime" in his own life as he's stepped into ministry through Bible studies on social media.

Together, mother and son unpack Jesus' parable of the sower from Matthew 13, examining the four soil types and what they reveal about our heart posture. "If you're rooted in Jesus, if you're rooted in the vine and I'm the branch, as a branch I'm going to bear fruit from the vine," Tylan explains. This profound discussion challenges listeners to honestly evaluate which soil their heart resembles - is God's Word being snatched away, withering without roots, choked by worldly concerns, or producing abundant fruit?

The conversation shifts to what it means to be "salt and light" in Matthew 5, with Tylan offering a striking observation: "The biggest microphone you can have in your life is your life." This discussion about authentic Christian witness reveals how social media creates comparison traps that steal joy and distract from purpose. You'll hear practical wisdom about maintaining your distinctive "saltiness" in a world that pushes conformity and how consistent obedience leads to breakthrough.

Join us for this illuminating episode that will challenge you to examine your spiritual roots, guard against worldly distractions, and let your light shine brightly. As Tylan reminds us, "Change is coming. All you have to do is just continue to be patient and be consistent." Speaker 2:

New, new new everything new, new, new, new, new, new, everything new.

Speaker 1:

I'm ready to go. Welcome back to Inside Beauty Inspires. I am your host, prophetess Stephanie L Harrison, and today I've got a special guest, my son Tylan. You know he came down this evening to be here. I'm so happy to see you, tylan. I'm glad that you're in the studio with me on today and we're going to be stepping into the harvest, stepping into harvest season. I'm talking about seeds, sowers and how we're called to be the light and salt of the world. How's everything been going with you, tyler?

Speaker 2:

Everything's been going well. I'm actually very excited to be back in here. God's been working in my life like overtime recently, I feel like and this is just a part of the process for him building me up to be where I'm supposed to be. So I'm just blessed to be back in the seat, knowing that I want to start my own podcast one day and the wisdom and knowledge that I can share to other people as well.

Speaker 1:

I absolutely love that. And, speaking of the knowledge that you want to spread to those, give people your information. I messed around and clicked on Tyler's Instagram and he went live and he was doing Bible studies. I could not be more proud. Let the people know how they can tap into Bible studies. I don't know how often you do it, but I think that's an awesome thing. Just makes me smile so hard because when I saw you on there, just in your word, I was like look at him, go get him. Tiger.

Speaker 2:

I feel like God's been calling me to do something similar to podcast Bible studies or just lives in general to share the word from my voice and not only me typing stuff out. I've been doing it for maybe a week and a half now and I want to start doing them every Monday and Thursday at 7pm On Instagram my Instagram. You can literally just search up Talon Fowler, my name, and that's that's gonna be like where I am.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I love it, I love it, I love it. Let's jump into harvest season. It's a new month, it's September. When I say harvest or harvest season, and what comes to mind? Talon, what do you think about when I say harvest season?

Speaker 2:

The first thing I think about when you say harvest season is like the result of getting what you've sown or what you've put into. There's a verse Galatians 6, 8 through 9, that we're probably going to go over, since you just said that it makes the most sense, but to me it's like picturing a time where everything that you're putting into is going to be sown by God, like if I'm putting more into my flesh, then destruction is going to be sown, in a sense.

Speaker 2:

But if I'm putting more into my spirit that's going to bring blessings and prosperity, if that makes sense.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely, Absolutely. Let's talk about it here. So when I hear harvest season, I think about Galatians 6, 9 as well. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Harvest is about reaping what you've sown, and whether prayers, obedience or love and, just like you said, destruction, I mean when you reap, when you sow to your flesh, you do reap. You know the negative consequences of those things. What does it say in the commentary, or what would you like to add to that?

Speaker 2:

Six through six, eight through nine. There are only two places where you can sow or invest spiritually the flesh and the spirit. The one who sows in the flesh, which is going to be pleasing yourself over pleasing god, will reap destruction from the flesh. To sow from the fresh is to perform the works of the flesh that paul has identified. Sooner or later, it will bring a harvest of destruction. However, the one who sows into the spirit pleasing god over pleasing yourself which to me means like choosing god every single day, choosing jesus every day, um loving him more than you love your flesh and loving him more than you love yourself, in a sense of yes I want to please him more than I want to please myself.

Speaker 2:

um, walking by the spirit and bearing fruit of the spirit will reap eternal life from the spirit, which is like a reference from quality of spiritual fulfillment and just victory in life. I feel like the one who sows to the spirit is living to please God, but it's not going to always happen when you want it to. Personally like, patience is definitely key in that. So we must not grow weary of all the good that we're putting in, because at the proper time, a harvest will come. So I think that we should just continue to keep sowing, keep doing what we're doing, keep trusting God and remembering that there's an appropriate seasonal time for a gap between, like development and prosperity a gap between like development and prosperity.

Speaker 1:

Amen, amen. That was beautiful, tylan. I mean beautifully stated, because it's so good and God's word says, those who sow in tears as well will reap with joy. So, even in hard seasons, the seeds you plant truly do matter. You know, can you think about sometimes? Or have you had a harvest season come into your life? I mean, I know that you've been going through some great things and I want this to be very natural for you, talyn, because at the end of the day, you know, first and foremost you're my son. So to hear that you want to have your own podcast just makes me smile so hard. You know you got me smiling hard today. But what do you think about when it comes down to your life and the harvest season? What do you think about?

Speaker 2:

I think of one word, which is patience, the most important word. I've had to realize through patience that whenever I do do good or I feel like, oh God, I think I deserve this at this moment, or I feel like, oh God, I think I deserve this at this moment and not getting it, I feel like that's a punch in my pride, if that makes sense, Like dang, I feel like this should happen.

Speaker 2:

I feel like that's just my ego talking, but I think I've built discipline over the months and years just knowing that, no matter how bad I want it, it's not going to come until a proper time, regardless of the good or the bad. So in my life I feel like I've been praying a lot, I've been reading the word a lot. Really, the most important thing I've been doing is just spreading the word with my community, with my friends, my family.

Speaker 2:

I'm trying to hook everything back to point them to Jesus. I'm trying to like hook everything back to point them to Jesus and sometimes, when I feel like it's not working, eventually they'll come and say something to me or they'll ask a question, showing that, oh, the seeds that I was planting, the seeds that I was planting in them, god's watering them.

Speaker 1:

There you go, there you go. That's what I'm talking about. Okay, cause you know, I'm glad you said that because it's a, it's a natural harvest cycle. When you think about the time that's required, when you think about the patients, when you think, when you think about the care, I think about flowers, I think about plants, I think about trees, I think about, um, the nature of a thing and your seed in the ground, the seed in the ground, ground, you know. And then you don't want to despise small beginnings, because even if you don't see it right away doesn't mean that God isn't going to show his self mighty in the land of the living. You know, it takes time, like you just said, and I'm actually sitting here watching, sitting back, watching you. I know that what I notice is that when you start, you know going really hard for God, I noticed that a lot of doors just start to open, like you don't even try to pry them open, they just talk about it.

Speaker 2:

It's natural.

Speaker 2:

Like there was a job that I talked about in the last interview that I've been wanting for months since school let out and once I just put that to the back of my head and just took the steps of getting closer to Jesus that brought every door that I thought was closed for me.

Speaker 2:

Or like putting me in a room to where, like dang, I didn't think that I should be in here right now. Like there was a community that I went to um in Greenwood with a bunch of oh like I was the youngest one in there but I was talking and we were all just having conversation and the lady like said she kept looking at me and she kept saying like I don't know what it is about you, but I'm seeing something in you Like an anointing cover in my life that was similar to their pastors and then I was compared to an apostle once again. So it was like these things happening in my life, knowing that I'm in alignment. I think it's just about consistency and that's what really keeps me going, just knowing that the more I trust God, the more I seek after God, the more he's going to seek me, if that makes sense, like I think it says in John 15, abide in him, and he's going to abide in you, that's just been a big one for me.

Speaker 1:

I love that for you. I love that for you and you do. You absolutely do. Let's keep going, because you know we're talking about the seed and the sower and you know we do want to make a difference in the lives of people that we come in contact with. You know I have to shout out the ladies of ISI, these ladies, they get up with me each and every single morning, you know, seeking God's face, and you know we've been doing this now for some years now. And you're right, it's in the consistency. If you stay consistent with the word of God, if you can continue to allow him to teach you and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you, you will feel the confidence you will feel led. You will feel the confidence you will feel led and God will put you in the position and situations to where, like, like the young lady or the young man, spoke life into you and telling you that they see something in you. That's because you're following not your own orders but the Lord's orders. Amen. So let's keep going, tyler. We're to go to Matthew, chapter 13.

Speaker 1:

Later that same day, jesus left the house and sat beside the lake. A large crowd soon gathered around him and so he got into the boat. Then he sat there and taught as the people stood on the shore. He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one. Listen, a farmer went out and planted some seeds as he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlining rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow, but the plants soon wilted under the hot sun and since they didn't have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile, fertile soil and they produced a crop that was 30, 60 or even 100 times as much as had been planted.

Speaker 1:

Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand. His disciples came and asked him why do you use parables when you talk to people? He replied you are permitted to understand the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but others are not. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little knowledge they have will be taken away from them. That is why I use these parables, for they look, but they don't really see. They hear, but they don't really listen or understand. This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says when you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. That says they cannot turn to me and let me heal them. But, talon, blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear. I tell you the truth Many prophets and righteous people long to see what you see, but they didn't see it. And they long to hear what you hear, but they didn't hear it.

Speaker 1:

Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer and planting seeds. The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the kingdom and don't understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don't have deep roots, they don't last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God's word. And then there's the seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God's word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth. So no fruit is produced. But then there's the seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God's word and produce a harvest of 30, 60, or even a hundred times as much as been planted.

Speaker 1:

Let's talk about it. What do you hear when you think about this passage? Jesus is speaking to the disciples about the word. In essence, go ahead, talk to me about it. What you see.

Speaker 2:

I see that and I love how. I love how he uses parables. I do too, because like that makes me really like break it down in my head, like without him saying, oh, this is what I mean. But verses 19 through 23 definitely gives us like, okay, this is what everything was like. This is one of the times jesus actually explained his parables and just put it out there for them to actually understand right um the verse.

Speaker 2:

The verse that stuck out to me was verse 20. The seed falling on rocky ground Refers to someone who hears the word and receives it with joy. But since they do not have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes Because of the word, they quickly fall away.

Speaker 1:

So you know a lot of people like have you been a witness to that?

Speaker 2:

Many, many many times, many times I would say that Jesus tells us in the Bible that he is the vine and we are the branches amen and and when it comes to what you're rooted in, that's what you're gonna produce that's right if. I'm rooted in Jesus, if I'm rooted in the vine and I'm the branch, as a branch I'm going to bear fruit from the vine.

Speaker 1:

That's right.

Speaker 2:

So I see a lot of times where we're in church or people in church, people watching sermons, listening to gospel music, and you feel good Like, okay, I'm receiving all this, I'm receiving all this? Yes, we're excited, Super excited, Like God, thank you, Lord, thank you. But when you leave and I think everyone should know at this point when you get a word, the devil wants to take that word from you.

Speaker 1:

So when you?

Speaker 2:

hear a word. It's not going to be like, okay, flowers and this, and that You're going to leave and you have to actually receive it and just okay, god, I'm rooting in you, whatever's going to happen. I know that, this word, you wanted me to hear it, so I need to be ready for the devil trying to take it away from me?

Speaker 1:

Absolutely. I agree with you fully, because you know I said when I was younger and I was being called, similar to you, I remember God speaking to me and it was like I told my mom shout out to mom. I said, mom, whenever I do my trial sermon, the first thing I'm going to tell people is that when the word goes forth, the enemy is going to come immediately to try to steal it. Don't let them. Don't let them. God speaks and he speaks through people. You know people want a word, like right now. You know you may need a word. You listeners out here, you may need some encouraging. What we're saying is that the word that we're planting don't allow the enemy to steal it from you, and that's by worrying about the things of life.

Speaker 2:

I definitely agree and emphasis on worrying about the things of life In this generation and in this world. Like this society that we are in today, there is a lot of distractions, just a lot of pressures and cares of the world Like am I going to pay my rent on time? Am I going to have a job For the elder people? Am I going to pay my rent on time? Am I going to have a job For the elder people? Am I going to get married? Like things like that that people are just having in their head space like okay, I don't know if this is going to happen. I'm worried about all these worldly things. In a sense, I feel like it's about heart posture.

Speaker 2:

At the end of the day, Absolutely, are you going to actually receive and respond to God's word, and the way you do receive and respond to it is going to determine how effective it is in your life Absolutely. And I just want to go back into that because usually when we hear the word, it gets choked out by the worries of the world yeah, talk about it. So what are you actually rooted in? It's like if it's choking that out, then clearly you might be rooted in that struggle that you're going through you're so used to be okay.

Speaker 2:

I just heard the word, but god, you haven't showed up for me yet. But like we talked about earlier, it was about consistency. Yes, in the bible it refers to a lot of people had to go through a lot of things. I can't think of one time where everybody, where it was a person in the Bible that just had everything right, like Job. He had to go through a lot of things, but guess what happened in the end?

Speaker 2:

He got everything back Because he continued to trust, regardless of what was going on around him Absolutely. And even when people were telling him yo, you shouldn't like, god is the reason that this is all happening. But no, he is. But he's not because he's testing my faith. That's it so am I gonna just like listen to what y'all saying? Care about the worries of what's going on around me?

Speaker 2:

yeah, right am I gonna continue to put into a harvest that is eventually gonna like no put into the world and what I'm gonna sow into like to reap a harvest if that makes right, it makes plenty of sense.

Speaker 1:

I understand exactly what you're you're saying. It's like the heart postures are different types of hearts. Right, because you have so many hearts. You know it talks about the heart soil. You know, I guess that would be the rocky road. You know that's hard, you know you can't receive it because you have hardness going on inside of your heart. So you know it doesn't even penetrate. It doesn't penetrate. Well, there's four different types of soils. Let's talk about the four different types of soils. We have the pathway, the word stolen by the enemy. The rocky ground, the word received with joy but no root. The thorny soil, the word choked out by worries of wealth and wealth. And then the good soil, the word multiplies 30, 60, 100 fold. Now, speaking about the word, what word is it speaking about? Tylen? Is it not speaking about the word the bible?

Speaker 1:

clearly speaking about the clearly right 100 hear us, hear us today, hear my son, hear. Read your word. It is in your word. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. The Bible says my children perish for lack of knowledge. If you don't know the word of God, then how would you be able to stay rooted in it?

Speaker 2:

You can't like. It really talks about hard posture. But I want to like get to what my mom just said about what are you staying in? Like? If I'm not staying in my Bible, I can't be surprised when all these things are happening. It's like dang. I have no understanding of it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Because you're not even receiving God every single day. Like and I want to really bring up the John 15 abiding in him, and he's going to abide in you. If you're listening and you're rooted in him, he is going to like listen and be rooted inside of you. Like, yeah, God cares about all of us, but it's only the certain ones that actually receive him which he's going to make a difference in their lives. And back to the heart posture thing, because you were talking about the four different soils.

Speaker 1:

Definitely.

Speaker 2:

And I had, which is crazy because I read this maybe two weeks ago and I have notes from it.

Speaker 1:

I love it and a hard heart.

Speaker 2:

that's like a word that just can't get in. The enemy will not allow it in because of all the worries and everything that you got, going on Like you don't even want to receive it. Anger, anger All the anger inside of you Bitterness?

Speaker 1:

yeah, that's going to block it.

Speaker 2:

Right and a suppressed heart is okay, I'm hearing the word but I'm not holding on to the word. Okay, like I'm hearing it but I'm not receiving it. Like parents say all the time like you hearing me, but are you actually listening to me?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you hear me though, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Like you have to actually receive it and listen to it, and most of the time that comes from a lack of discipline. Yeah, and if you don't have the right root, it's also because of lack of discipline. If I can't be rooted in Jesus because I'm worried about all these things in the world, then that's going to continue to bring you destruction.

Speaker 1:

Well, you'll stay in the same cycle, stagnant no one wants to be in the same cycle.

Speaker 2:

For me, it's all about growth, and I think that's one of the most important things in my life right now is just seeing how I can grow and grow and grow and just get better and reach my purpose. Back to a sick heart, that's. That allows God's word to not transform you because of your worries. Like OK, I'm hearing it, God, I'm trying.

Speaker 1:

But soon as something bad happens, you feel me it shouldn't be like that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, because if it was like think about if the effort that we put into God he put into us. Imagine if God was like okay, you're hearing my word, I just gave you a good word, right, and you go about your day and you don't do anything about it Like you fail. You fail me in a sense, like, oh, you sinned again, you've walked away from me. If he was just like okay, I see, I'm just forget about that person yeah, I see, I see, I see where you at. Yeah, how how would we feel?

Speaker 2:

absolutely I feel like we should really just think about how god stays with us, and that should make us want to stay with him even more, knowing that we're the ones that are in the wrong. God's never in the wrong right.

Speaker 1:

Right, you know he spoke a and he wants his children to receive his word from those that he sends. But the problem is like when people go through things in their lifetime, it's like they don't know how to get past those hard times, because hard times happen to us all. You know, we all have ups and downs, trials and tribulations, but, like you just said, john 15, abide in me. And tribulations, but like you just said, john 15, abide in me and I will abide in you. You know he, he's grafted us into his branch. You know we, we're supposed to fruit, produce fruit. Let's talk about the producing of the fruit, because these are some when the word doesn't get in, there's a blockage, right, right, there's a blockage, right. But what happens when the word actually get into your heart?

Speaker 2:

We get to help others, like the fruit that we produce. Like a tree can't eat its own fruit. Come on, I can't eat my own fruit. My fruit is not for me.

Speaker 1:

But my fruit is for the others that.

Speaker 2:

I come in contact with. That also is about community as well. Like community, that's a very big. That's a very big one, if that makes sense. Um, just your whole community, everyone, the society. If I'm rooted in god and I'm bearing fruit, I should encourage me more to be rooted, knowing how many lives I'm helping how many people I'm reaching?

Speaker 2:

yes, how many people that I'm turning to Jesus Christ, in a sense, and also, before we get off of the subject about the hearts, I do want to talk about the last one, which is, you know how it says falls on good soil.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 2:

At the end of the day, that is a submitted heart.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

When I have a heart posture submitted to the kingdom, submitted to God. I'm saying no to myself daily. No, no, no. I'm not submitted in my flesh, but I'm submitted in my spirit. Um, that welcomes the word and that when you welcome the word, you get a chance to actually do what it says.

Speaker 1:

You get a chance to actually obey it.

Speaker 2:

When you obey the word. It's like a cycle. You welcome the word, you obey the word.

Speaker 1:

Now you're producing fruit, and that's what matters, because you don't want to walk around here With this. You do know there's a lot of people Walk around with these leaves.

Speaker 1:

Fig trees no fruit at all? Right, and look, let's just talk about it, because you can't pretend. You can't pretend, you can try, but God sees you and God knows you. You know, at the end of the day, you can pretend to say that you're producing the harvest, or you're producing the fruit, that which, that of the father wants, but the truth of the matter is, what type of fruit are you producing? I mean, all of these things matter.

Speaker 2:

They do matter and, like you said, it's something I tell everybody. Like, you can lie to me, you can say what you want to to me, but God knows the truth between y'all two. Like, if you're telling me yo, I'm reading the word Tyler, nah, I promise you, I'm trying that I'm gonna say okay, because at the end of the day, that's not for me to judge you on. You can tell me that all day, but God really knows where your heart is actually placed. He knows if you're actually trying to be rooted in him or are you still caring about the worries of the world and you're getting all that stuff choked out of you by your worries of the world? A lot of times we focus on the temporary things that really do not matter at the end of the day, because what is it good for a man to have the world and lose his soul?

Speaker 1:

Oh, I mean, that's a real thing. You keep worrying about dang I need to have.

Speaker 2:

I'm trying to have this, I'm trying to have that, I'm trying to have this. But when you keep worrying about that, when judgment day comes and you hear that depart from me, I never knew you, you can't change nothing.

Speaker 1:

Nothing at all can change because you didn't. You know, at the end of the day, everybody has a choice, everybody has a choice. I typically tell people to change that one thing. That's going to change everything, and for me that was the word. So you know, if you do have your focus on the things of this world, you will miss it. You'll miss it. There's no other way around it. You will miss it.

Speaker 1:

But when you turn your focus to the father and allow him to order the steps for you because the Bible says in Jeremiah 29, 11, I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper, to give you a hope and a future Well, how are you going to know the plans that God has for you if you're not seeking his face? How are you going to know that? And then, like you said, god knows everything. You can tell us anything out there because we're teachers in a sense. You're doing Bible studies. I teach every morning and so, as your students, what you'll come to see is you'll be able to tell who's getting it and who's not. You will be able to.

Speaker 1:

As a teacher, you'll be able to tell who's getting it and who's not. You will be able to. As a teacher. You'll be able to see it because you know what you're getting and you're going to want to see a result. You don't think our Father want to see a result from us. We're getting in the Word. We're seeking His face. You don't think we're going to want to see His hand in our lives. He's going to bring. He's not a man that.

Speaker 2:

He shall real with that now. Although it is hard, there are ways that we can overcome having these worries of the world.

Speaker 1:

Especially in my generation I know there's a lot of distractions out there, a lot of pressures a lot of like I won't like a lot of envy. A lot of jealousy if I'm being honest.

Speaker 2:

Well, the social social media is bad and I was thinking about that this morning, like I woke up and I was convicted because the first thing I grabbed was my phone. I was going to open Instagram, but it's like what? What was the point in that? I'm feeding my flesh, not my spirit come on but I feel like once you see what people have on the internet or they're doing this, they're doing that it's like you start to want that more than what God has for your life comparison comparison is the thief of joy like you should not be trying to compare yourselves to people who god probably never even meant for you to see.

Speaker 2:

But that's what social media does. I'm not supposed to know what kanye west or what lebron james is doing. I'm not supposed to know none of that. But since social media hasn't came around, it's like that's another way for me to envy that me being jealous of that, like I shouldn't. I shouldn't do that.

Speaker 2:

I like that but I will say like the biggest things, for me at least, is to have a godly community, having godly friends, reading the word, having a good prayer life. Like these are things I don't want like people to be like. Oh, it's hard, I don't know how to overcome it, but I'm giving you free game right now on what you should try to do to do that. And once God sees you trying to implement these things of godly friendships, I'm reading more. That's when he's like OK, bet, you're seeking me more. You care about the heart posture that you're in. So before we go to the next one, I will ask you guys like where do you think your heart posture lays right now? What soil do you think that you're in right now? What are you rooted in right now? Just think about that and reflect on that and actually ask God. To how can I say reveal that to you so you can work on that.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, I love it. And you know I want to give some encouragement around what Talon just said. Yes, yes, I love it. And you know I want to give some encouragement around what Tylan just said Even if you feel like your soil has been rocky or thorny, god is the master gardener. He is the master gardener. He can break up the soil, he can break up the ground, he can make it fruitful again, but it causes you to surrender. Surrender is important Surrender from your will to his will, his way or your way. And the truth of the matter is Yahweh. Okay, at the end of the day Clock it, it's Yahweh at the end of the day. Well, let's keep going. Talyn, the light. Let's talk about the light, the salt and the light of the world. I believe it's in Matthew 5.

Speaker 2:

Verse 13 through 16.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you already got pulled up. That's my baby.

Speaker 2:

I've been reading the.

Speaker 1:

Bible y'all. That's my baby y'all.

Speaker 2:

Everything aligning to what we're even talking about. I had no idea we was going to talk about this Really Wow. I read about this recently, so everything's in alignment, if that makes sense.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, let's talk about it. So when I think about salt, I think about flavor. I think about flavor, right, and so it's something that I like to say to the ladies on the phone. I'll be like, hey, be the salt of the world, add flavor. You should add flavor to everybody that you come into. Right, I really do feel that way. So anytime I think about salt, I think about that, and, as a believer, we keep this world from spoiling when we add that type of flavor to his people, because we're his children. Talk to us about it I definitely agree.

Speaker 2:

If you don't mind, I'm going to go ahead and read the whole 13 through 16.

Speaker 1:

real quick, yes, go ahead and read it.

Speaker 2:

Matthew 5, 13 through 16, verse 13 says you are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? Yikes, it is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. Jesus, Verse 14. You are a light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. I want to read that one again. I like that one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, read again. You are the light of the world.

Speaker 2:

A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand and it gives light to everyone in the house In the same way. Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven. Now, before I talk about the salt aspect, I want to talk about, like, how it says at the end that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven. You can see. It doesn't say hear your good deeds, but see, come on, you have to actually live the life that you're preaching come on baby come on you have to because the biggest, the biggest microphone you can have in your life is

Speaker 2:

your life, it's for people to see how you're moving. I can tell people this all the time, but dang T-Font was just like telling me all this and look how he moving. But if they see my steps and they seeing how I'm walking, they seeing what God doing based off of me seeking him and being obedient to him, they're like dang like I want to try that out. If, in him and being obedient to him, they're like dang like I want to try that out. If if what he's doing right now is glorifying the father and he's getting all this not even getting all this, but he's so peaceful, he's, he's joyful. Look at the wisdom he carries.

Speaker 2:

Yes, dang like I really want that and all I have to do is seek after jesus. That's it. It's simple. Now what it is, I will say it's harder than it sounds, but that's when it comes into faith and consistency. So you do have to just actually be, you have to want it. It's about what do you want?

Speaker 1:

What is your desires for real, tylan? You're on a, you're such on a, you're on your own one. I don't even really want to interrupt you know. I mean because, like I mean, you're right, you're right, you know, salt really does show. You really got to. How can I put it? You can't. I'm going to put it in the words of PJ Shout out to Pharrell, shout out to Pharrell. Pharrell said you got to practice what you preach. You got to practice what you preach. You can't be around here talking about you know, you're the salt of the light. And then there's no visible fruit, there's no visibility that I can tell that you are who you say you are.

Speaker 2:

You can't tell me you're the salt.

Speaker 1:

and then, when I come in contact with you, I don't taste nothing, I don't get no flavor from it.

Speaker 2:

Salt is like when I have food. I have fries. It's bland If I put salt on there. That's a little flavor to it.

Speaker 1:

That's a little kick.

Speaker 2:

It needs a little kick. You're supposed to come into somebody's life like, okay, I'm going to give a little kick.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to bring a little positivity.

Speaker 2:

You know what I'm saying you should have that type of influence and that should be a positive influence on people's lives.

Speaker 1:

Well, it's a distinctiveness. You're going to be able to tell the difference. The two pj called it the jesus glow. You know she was called the jesus glow. She done put a little twist on it. You don't say when you live with integrity and and and don't compare yourself to others, but really truly walk in the light of god, you're gonna see that this word will preserve your life. Your, this word will literally preserve your life. Keep going, tyler I definitely agree.

Speaker 2:

And um, verse 13 says you are the salt of the earth. God is saying that we are the salt of the earth. He's talking about everyone. But he also goes to say but if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?

Speaker 1:

The way you can preserve your saltiness, because I don't think you can make it salty again.

Speaker 2:

It says it in the Bible. You lose it. What can you do?

Speaker 1:

It's what it's saying in the word. Matthew 5, verses 13 through 16. Exactly.

Speaker 2:

But to preserve that is living with godly character Absolutely. Living in love living in joy, honesty, and you said the word integrity, which means like to do something when no one else is around. Absolutely what are you going to do in private or when you think nobody's watching?

Speaker 1:

you.

Speaker 2:

Because usually when you think nobody's watching you, that's when they got somebody in the back corner. Yo what he doing. You think everything good Yo, what's going on over here. You know, you remind me of right now.

Speaker 1:

You know I call you David all the time, but you do know David had one of these moments, right? David didn't think I saw him. They was moved on. They was moving on with his life, you know. So the prophet had to come and confront him and let him know. Your daddy saw you you're not.

Speaker 2:

You're not fooling me, or you can try to fool me, but there's one man that we cannot fool. Come on um, and then when it says like it is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under, I like how you said add flavor, because if you're not adding flavor, then nobody wants you in their life. If you're bland. You're not doing nothing for them. You're bringing maybe what despair drama all that. Yikes, I don't want to be a part of like your posse over there.

Speaker 1:

No, no, I don't want you a part of my community Because, think about it, you know. One of the things about it is you find identity and responsibility in this aspect because, at the end of the day, like you said, what are you adding or are you taking away?

Speaker 2:

Exactly, and I want people who's going to add flavor to my life Assets and liabilities are real right encouraging me, are you uplifting me? Are you like helping me with healthy habits? Are you building up healthy habits in me, like you need to be a friend or you need to be someone who encourages everybody? That's it like don't belittle anybody, don't try to think you're better. That ego, that pride, you're just going to be useless in the end, like god literally says like if salt loses his taste it's useless.

Speaker 2:

That's what he said now. And if we're walking in greed, hate, lust, corruption, if we're walking in all those things, then I'm kind of useless to the kingdom. I mean, it really is a warning.

Speaker 1:

I mean it's a warning to the world really. I mean, if you think about it, because if salt preserves your life and we are the salt of the world if salt loses its flavor, it's no longer useful. Likewise, if we lose our distinctiveness as Christ followers, we blend into the world and lose our witness, like we look like the rest of everybody else. What sets you apart? You know God says be set apart. You know Be holy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And if you don't mind compromising your life for you know for. And if you don't mind compromising your life for you know for, like, if you don't mind, esau gave his bowl of soup to his brother, you know for instant gratification. You know that was his birthright, you know it's a story in the Bible two brothers and whatnot but instant gratification, the instancy of this world, it's not worth it. Go ahead, keep going, tom. It's not worth it. Talk about the light, though.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay, I can go into the light. Let me read it back to y'all, verse 14 and 16. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden, can't? Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl, yikes. Instead, they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.

Speaker 1:

Now I'm going to say this light represents guidance, light represents truth and light represents hope. In essence, light represents Christ, ok, and just as a city on a hill is visible from far away, our lives should reflect Christ so that others can see him through us. That's what you've been saying Like, walk that walk. If you're going to talk that talk, walk that walk. You feel me Like, at the end of the day, a light person, a person that carries a light. They're going to shine bright in dark places. They're going to shine bright in schools. They going to, and your lifestyle should reflect your father, your lifestyle should reflect your, your brother, which is Jesus Christ. Talk about it, talon, what you think about it honestly I want to refer back to.

Speaker 2:

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand. If God is giving you that light and you're receiving that light, why are you hiding your faith from the world? Why are you not sharing the gospel? Why are you not letting others see you and like okay, I see your good works, I see how you're going for and glorifying God. Why would I not attempt to do that as well?

Speaker 2:

right, but when you're putting it on the back burner, when you're putting it under something it's like I can't see. And why would God give you a light for no one to be able to see?

Speaker 1:

you Come on, speak about it.

Speaker 2:

If a city on a hill can be seen from far away, all you have to do is come up from under whatever it is that you're under and, the same way like, let people see you.

Speaker 1:

Well, you know people talk about being private. You know I'm private, I'm private, but that ain't helping nobody yo, it's really not.

Speaker 2:

It's not. I feel like privacy to the kingdom. That's selfish.

Speaker 1:

Real talk it is. Why would you?

Speaker 2:

have all these things and have this wisdom, have this light in your life, and you're wanting it for yourself.

Speaker 1:

That's true, and if God placed a light on the inside of you, he didn't do that for you to keep it private. He did it for you to share with others. So it's it for you to share with others. So it's important for you to allow that light to shine so that people know it's real. Like what I do with this podcast, I want people to understand why I go so hard for God, because he goes so hard for me. This is not a facade. This is not anything fake. You've been my child since the day.

Speaker 2:

I gave birth to you.

Speaker 1:

You've watched your mom. You've watched me pray. You've watched me seek God. You've watched me pray. You watched me seek God. You watched me do these things. So you know my worship is for real. My prayer life is for real. I don't try to go off of what people say. That's why I love that you, pharrell and Cameron, are getting into this word, you understand, because it could be a facade. People make it a facade Like oh well, I believe in Christ and I love the Lord, but they're not really walking it for real, yo. And then they hide it. I can't hide this light, you know. By me coming out on the podcast or me having the church, like with you, doing Bible studies, you're allowing the world to see you the way that the Father sees you, so that you can bring more people into the kingdom of God, so they can know that it's not a facade, it's real.

Speaker 1:

And you know a good thing about having your light shine.

Speaker 2:

We live in such a dark world that when your light shines, it's gonna be seen. You're gonna stand out from the crowd every single time yeah because a lot of people in this world we think about well, I don't even think we think about like, for some reason it's so much depression in this world oppression yeah oppression, hate, greed, yes, like it's just a lot of that. So selfishness.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, confusion, a lot of people are confused now. Yeah, yeah, well the well. He's the author of confusion, saying it's out there confusion, and you know he and he. He likes to appear as an angel of light. So think about, think about what he is and what he likes to appear as, and think about you not having the wisdom that God gives us through this word. You know, how are you going to know who's saying who?

Speaker 2:

You won't know unless you read and I had said something on my Bible study about you know you read like you're watching sermons, you're listening to podcasts, listening to gospel music that maybe have a verse in it. If you're going off, if you're, how can I say it? If you're allowing your relationship with Jesus to be based off of what somebody else is saying, based off of somebody else's words?

Speaker 2:

Secondhand information Secondhand, I could be capping for all. If you don't get in the word, you're not going to just know, you're going to continue to walk in confusion like, okay, yeah, they said that. Am I going to believe what somebody says on the Internet or am I going to just go actually read it for myself?

Speaker 1:

But do you know what the saddest truth is? That's the world. That's the saddest truth. That's the world. Secondhand information. You know. Verse 16 says Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father. Our light isn't about making ourselves look good. It's about reflecting God's glory. When people see our kindness, our love, our faithfulness, it points them back to the Creator, not the creation, the Creator. And that's what it's about at the end of the day. You know. It's about serving one another. It's about serving one another with humility. It's about doing good for doing good, but not for reward. You know what I'm saying? You got the hired hand and you got the shepherd. One is a hired work. One's doing it for the clout. You know people want to be seen nowadays. It's a real thing out here in these streets. And the truth of the matter is we don't do it for the clout. We do it to glorify our Father because he's done so much for us.

Speaker 2:

I definitely agree with that because even me doing the Bible study, something I got convicted with real quick, like as soon as I got off I was thinking like okay. I have all these people saying like oh yeah, talon, you should do this. You should do this about 90 to 100 people. Wow but when I'm doing the podcast. I'm only seeing 15 to 20 people on there.

Speaker 2:

So at first I was like dang where everybody yet? But that's, that's kind of an ego thing, that's just OK, I just want to be seen. That's attention seeking and God shut that down real quick because the goal isn't for the attention but to help people get closer and glorify God through the light that you have, through the flavor that you have, absolutely so like kind of how I can say, like the salt and the light. It's really just about not blending in.

Speaker 1:

That's it.

Speaker 2:

Being set apart. Like I feel like and I'm pretty sure you can ask anybody this who knows me like I'm a weird dude.

Speaker 1:

You're not weird, I'm a weird.

Speaker 2:

You're not weird. I used to say I was weird to people. I feel like I'm a weird. Pj got her whole. Pj is the weird. I'm letting you know, pj, you listening, you are the weirdest.

Speaker 1:

No, she's not, she's just like her mom PJ is pretty odd. So are you.

Speaker 2:

I definitely feel like growing up I was always different, but I didn't really care. I wasn't doing what people was doing. Sometimes I was, but I can tell that that wasn't. There's something about me that I shouldn't be doing these things. I shouldn't be in this crowd.

Speaker 2:

I don't fit in yeah so, instead of trying to blend in, it's like I wanted to just see what that was about, and the older I got, the more I was like okay, god, it was clearly because I have something. You put something inside of me that won't let me conform to the world.

Speaker 1:

Amen.

Speaker 2:

And I'm blessed and grateful that he allowed me not to, because that allows me to try to make the world better by what he put inside of me.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

And I feel like just going back to our life should be seasoning, like salt is and the light that points back people to the kingdom of god. You know amen, yes so I don't be scared to be different. Don't be like ah okay, what are they gonna say about me if I'm not doing what they doing like they? Really, at the end of the day, they don't matter. The only thing that matters is jesus. When it's all said and done, at the end of the day, yeah, that's, that's the truth, though yeah, it's real.

Speaker 1:

It's real, you know, um, know, being the light means you shine for Christ and the people. The world needs love, the world needs his love, the world needs his light, and we live in a place and even in our generation I know your generation is younger, but there's different ways to shine through. There's different ways to allow your light to shine through mentorship, through leadership or intercession. Together we make sure God's light reaches everywhere, and when we do that, he's a rewarder of those who diligently seek His face. Holland, he truly is.

Speaker 1:

And so, no matter how old you get, no matter how old you are, you know God wants your voice, God wants your, your um, your witness. You know the enemy wants to discredit witness. Do the enemy wants to discredit your witness? Keep you where you are. I'm so glad that um you spoke about, you know, coming out from among those. You know what I'm saying, Because what have I? Well, I've always told them, as they were younger, to blend out and not in. I've always told them not to blend in with the crowd because I wanted them to understand they were set apart for a time such as this.

Speaker 2:

Be a leader and not a follower. There you go, that's something you emphasize to me a lot, especially being in sports, like just being able to lead people. You know what I mean and I think leadership has been one of my best qualities ever since you told me that I've been walking that leadership out.

Speaker 1:

I feel like Amen, amen. That makes me so proud, because I know that you are a leader. You know and you make a difference, and when you speak, people listen. When you speak, people listen. So let's tie all this together. Harvest season reminds us that what we plant, we will reap, and the seed and the sower shows us how to guard our hearts. And, being the salt and light, reminds us that our fruit is meant to bless others. It's not just for ourselves, it's for other people. What do you think about it?

Speaker 2:

I feel like we should continue to just like. The word that we just read says be, light. Be salt to people, be that flavor that someone might need that day. Be a light that helps guide the way back to Christ.

Speaker 1:

Yes, because God needs a vessel. You know what I'm saying. He really does, you know. And can His Spirit rest on you? I ask people that often. I ask them do you think the Spirit of the Lord can rest on you? And then there's a scripture. I believe it's in Psalms 37. I'm not sure, don't quote me on it, but it says taste and see. It's Psalms 34, I think. Taste and see how how good life can get when you add God to the equation. It doesn't say it exactly like that, but that's how it says. Oh, taste and see how good the Lord is. If we're the salt of the world and we're adding flavor to those, you get a taste. Boy, ain't nothing like the real thing.

Speaker 2:

No, I definitely agree, because ever since that I've gotten closer to Jesus. I don't want to live like I was living before Christ. I don't want to even almost fall into that category, like I was starting to fall into before.

Speaker 1:

I was like, hey, hey, get back over here.

Speaker 2:

I got to make that change and that's something as young adults, teenagers, that's something that you have to do yourself.

Speaker 1:

And Tylan, let me ask you this question live while we're here, does God not show your mom stuff?

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, he definitely does, just like a quick story guys.

Speaker 1:

Oh God, oh God.

Speaker 2:

I'm a very honest person, so I'm just throwing it out there I was doing something I had no business doing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I definitely was doing something I had no business doing. Now I thought that everything was smooth, like, okay, I'm cooling, I'm not, you feel me, I'm not Falling bad. You know what I mean? And my mom pulls me for a conversation and it's About what I was doing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I'm like okay.

Speaker 2:

Nobody knows what I'm doing, so nobody could have got back to her. How could she have known this? And God gave a dream.

Speaker 1:

He did.

Speaker 2:

To show her. I said I saw you, tyler, I saw you what her son was doing and it's like when I heard that, I'm like At the moment, I'm like God, you green.

Speaker 1:

If I'm being honest, Daddy do you hear your son.

Speaker 2:

When I hear that information, I'm like God. I thought it was between us, but I had to have somebody to convict me because if I continue to go down that lifestyle, if I continue to do those things that I was doing, that's only going to pull me away from the purpose that he has for my life True story. And ever since that that's been broken off of me, amen. I've felt great, have I had those temptations.

Speaker 2:

Sometimes, yes, but it's about discipline and consistency knowing that I'm doing these things to reap a harvest at the end of the day, that's it. Amen, that's gonna sow 10,000 times of just me doing that one thing. You don't know what's that going to do for somebody else's life? Amen.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes. Well, tylan, you know this has been such a beautiful word today. I've absolutely enjoyed it and I did find the scripture Psalms 34, verse 8. He wants people to taste and see that the Lord is good Before we exit. I do want to share with you guys. We always pick a card, we always pull a card and today I pulled a card and Tylan pulled a card as well. So I want to ask Tylan to share his card with you guys and the affirmations, and I'm going to share my card with you guys.

Speaker 2:

So, tylan, tell the people what you got, what the Lord said to you today the Lord said to me before this podcast even began recording when I picked my card. Then Isaac sowed in that land and received in the same year a hundredfold, and the Lord blessed him.

Speaker 1:

Cock it.

Speaker 2:

And the man waxed great and went forward and grew until he became very great. Genesis 26, 12, and 13. The affirmations that I got for that that I'm gonna read every single day I already know you're gonna read them every day I am making progress, I am moving forward, I am advancing and I am multiplying in all directions. I have all around prosperity. I experience ever increasing glory. My prosperity, my expansion is for eternity.

Speaker 1:

For eternity.

Speaker 2:

That's forever.

Speaker 1:

Forever, forever, that's forever I love it. See, you caught it. I was like is he gonna pick up? He's like whatever.

Speaker 2:

I'm hip, I'm hip.

Speaker 1:

He's hip to the game, alright. So beautiful, beautiful card, beautiful card my card was. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called His holy people, who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians wait for it. 118. That's my birthday.

Speaker 1:

That's my birthday. 118 is my birthday. Okay, so my affirmations say success in life. My heart is full of joy, love, kindness and compassion, and I refuse to allow bitterness, anger or strife to take root in me. In Jesus' name, amen, man, listen, it's God good time. It's God good time, the greatest all time. Well, listen, I want to pray with you guys before we end this segment. With you guys, if you would bow your heads.

Speaker 1:

Heavenly Father, first and foremost, dad, I want to say thank you for this harvest season, thank you for every seed that's been planted in faith. And, lord, I ask right now, in the name of Jesus, that you prepare our hearts to be good soil, so that your word multiplies in us. I also want to lift up my son to you right now, god. I want to thank you for what you're doing in his life, the work that you're doing in him. May it continue to increase. Heavenly Father, may you open the doors up for him with opportunities, allowing him to know that you are the Alpha, you are the Omega, you are the one that opens the doors and you're the one that closes them. You're sovereign over everything. And so, heavenly Father, we give you all the glory, all the praise and all of the honor belongs to you. It is in your son Jesus, mighty and matchless name, that I ask all these things.

Speaker 2:

Amen and Talon, I would like for you to pray for the people before we exit out of here today. Okay, I'm good with that.

Speaker 1:

I know you are.

Speaker 2:

Dear Heavenly Father, I just want to thank you for this day. Thank you for life, health and strength. Thank you for just being who you are, Lord. Thank you for continuing to have grace and mercy with your people. Lord, Tomorrow, yesterday, today, every single day, God, I just ask for forgiveness for everyone. God, I ask for you to forgive their sins that they commit knowingly, lord and the ones that they have no idea they're committing Lord. Reveal that to them, god.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

God, I also pray for the ones who sin against us God, for they do not know what they're doing.

Speaker 1:

Yes God.

Speaker 2:

So how can I say Allow them to have receptive hearts to you.

Speaker 1:

God, yes, god, and turn to you.

Speaker 2:

I just pray for harvest season upon everyone's life right now.

Speaker 1:

Yes, Dad.

Speaker 2:

For the ones that have been staying down committing and doing what you're supposed to be doing.

Speaker 1:

Yes God.

Speaker 2:

There's a song called Change is Coming. You know what I'm saying? Change is going to be coming. All you have to do is just continue to just be patient and be consistent. Um, consistent obedience leads to breakthrough. Yes, god, that's. One thing I've learned is when you just stay down, allow God to work in your life, don't doubt him and just have faith, faith, faith, faith is like the thing that you need to be leaning on because you can't see what he's doing in your life, but you have.

Speaker 2:
