New Hearts, Fewer Fights

What if the real fight isn’t with the person in front of you, but with the desire inside you? We open James 4 and get honest about the quiet wars that fuel our loudest conflicts—envy, pride, and prayers shaped more by ego than by love. With a mix of Scripture, real-life stories, and a mother–son back-and-forth, we trace how unsubmitted wants become rivalry, and how a different posture—humility—releases greater grace.

We unpack the hard line James draws between worldliness and godliness, not to shame but to clarify the path. Friendship with the world isn’t about clothes or playlists; it’s a value system that sidelines God. Instead, we practice a better order: submit to God, then resist the devil, then draw near. Order matters. We talk about what drawing near looks like on a Tuesday morning—prayer, fasting, Scripture—and why God promises to move toward those who move toward Him. Along the way, we revisit David’s training ground with sheep, Israel’s wilderness detours, and Mary choosing Jesus’ feet over frantic service. Process before promise isn’t punishment; it’s preparation.

There’s also hope for unanswered prayers. Sometimes it isn’t that God said no—it’s that our motives asked for less than His love intends. We offer practical heart checks for control, competition, and comparison, and we celebrate the mercy of closed doors that kept us from drift. Expect straight talk, laughter, and a tender testimony of how seeking God’s presence reshaped family, calling, and peace. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you isn’t a slogan; it’s a way of life that quiets conflict and steadies joy.

If this conversation stirred something in you, hit follow, share it with a friend who needs clarity, and leave a review with the verse that hit you hardest. Your words help others find the show and find their way back to God.

Welcome, Birthday Shoutouts, Intentions At 20

SPEAKER_01

New, new, new, everything new, new, new, new, new, new, everything new.

SPEAKER_00

I'm ready to go. Hello, hello. It is Stephanie L. Harrison, and you are not listening into Inside Beauty Inspires, where we motivate, encourage, and inspire. We learn how to walk in wisdom, grow in faith, and become the people God has called us to be. Again, I am your host, Stephanie L. Harrison, and today I have a very special guest with me, my son, Tylen Fowler.

SPEAKER_03

How y'all doing? I think this is the third time this year. I am back. Just excited to be back, excited to be talking about wisdom and James and how we can just help you guys on this process called life and on this walk.

SPEAKER_00

Amen. Amen. Tylen, I want to definitely shout you out. Happy birthday again. You celebrated your 20th birthday on March the 2nd. How do you feel being 20 years old now? I mean, it sounds weird. My baby's not a teenager anymore.

SPEAKER_03

Step stepping out of being a teenager, I feel like I have to move with more intention, is all. I must not just play around, troll around. I'm a I think I'm a very great, funny guy. I personally do. But a lot of times I can't be joking as much as I was. Because it's, you know what I'm saying? It's getting real. It's getting realer and realer and realer. Yes. You know, bills to be paid. You feel me? A lot of stuff got to be taken care of. So I just number one word is intention with being 20.

SPEAKER_00

Amen. Amen. Talent, I love that. I love that. And and you know, what about your relationship with the father? Like, um, do you see, because you know, in the beginning of this year, you told me that, you know, you had a challenge going when you were meeting God at different stages of his name, you know, Elohim, um, Elohum uh Jehovah Rapha um. Rapha, Nisi, yeah. So what is your goal for this year when it comes down to your relationship with the Father?

SPEAKER_03

Um, number one, intimacy. Remain intimate, become more intimate. I feel like on the walk, you'll never be as intimate as you would want to be. Yes. Because you know we're human, we're not gonna reach that full of okay, I know I'm content on my relationship with God. You should never be content on your relationship with God. And also the same thing I said to you uh a couple months ago, which is to know every name of God or see how many names I can meet this year. Yes. Just so I can have that testimonial for other people who may need a victor or may need a healer and provider because he's been those things for me.

Setting The Spiritual Goal: God’s Names

SPEAKER_00

I love that, Tyland. That's so amazing. That just makes me smile as a mother. I feel like I'm doing a great job with my son. So again, you know, happy birthday. Uh, and I'm and I am very, very happy for you and the accomplishments that God is going to be bringing you um to and and and showing you this year. Amen. And so today we are going to be diving into the book of James, chapter four. And this chapter is a powerful chapter because it deals with something we all experience: conflicts, desires, pride, and learning how to truly surrender to God. And what I love about James is that he doesn't sugarcoat anything, he just tells us the truth. Um, Tylen, do you want to let me ask, let me just start off by a question because it's a question that I, when I read chapter four, I want to know why do people fight? Have you ever thought about that question? Why do people fight?

SPEAKER_03

Why do people fight? Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

What causes fights?

SPEAKER_03

What causes fights? What causes fights, I feel like, is internal conflicts within ourselves.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

A lot of times we don't realize that I could probably be bickering with another believer, or I can be having an argument with someone else, or I can be having this tug of war with God because of my passions and my desires, because my heart posture is still stuck in who I was before Christ. And like we have we have this way of not wanting him to have full full control.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

We want one foot in, one foot out. I'm gonna give you half so I can still remain half of myself.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He doesn't say that. That's right. You gotta follow him. He wants everything. He wants everything. Wholeheartedly. When you give your life to Christ, you have to realize that you're not just giving 25%, 75%. He wants you all because his love, he deserves all, if not more, than you can give him.

James 4:1–6 Read And Unpacked

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. Absolutely, Tylen. You know, you know, that question is deep because many times we think our problems is with someone else. But James says the issue often comes from desires that battle within us. So, you know, you're exactly right. I want us to jump into this word this morning. Well, whenever you guys are going to be listening to this word. Um, chapter four. Um, Tyler, you want to start off by reading, uh, reading James chapter four?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, do you want me to read a specific amount?

SPEAKER_00

Um let's um let's let's go through, let's see here. Let's go to verse six.

SPEAKER_03

One through six.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, one through six.

SPEAKER_03

What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don't they come from your passions that wage war within you? You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and wage war. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and don't receive because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. You adulterous people. And don't you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be friends of the world becomes the enemy of God. Or do you think it's without the reason that the scripture says the spirit he made the spirit he made to dwell in us envies intensely, but he gives greater grace. Therefore, he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, so talk about it for a minute. What did you take away from that word just based off what you just read?

SPEAKER_03

Um, verse one, I like to break it down in verses.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, yeah, well let's talk about it. Let's talk about the verses. We'll talk about the verses stuff.

SPEAKER_03

Verse one to me, and I like so what is the source of wars and fights among you? Don't they come from your passions and that wage war within you? And that's what I was kind of saying when you asked me that question, why is there a fight? And it's because that you know, we we were born into this sinful nature. So it's we're never gonna fully just be like, I'm super comfortable with giving you everything, God. It's always gonna be a part of us is like, uh, that doesn't feel right to me. I want this, why can I not have this? Because we were born sinners, you know. We weren't born in the true identity of Christ yet. When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, that's when you are starting to walk in the true identity. So in verse one, it talks about the warrant side of us being selfish desires versus what God wants for us.

SPEAKER_00

That's true, that's true. Let's see what it says in commentary. So here it says, You can't have peace if you're constantly at war. According to James, his readers engaged in fights among themselves. What caused them? What was the source? Ask people why they're fighting, and they're likely to point their fingers at others. But James insists that war comes from your own passions that wages war within you. Conflicts emerge from within. And they truly do. You know, um, James reveals the root of conflicts and it's internal before it's external. So a lot of times things are going on on the inside of uh of us, you know, cravings, pleasures, uh, self-driven appetites. These are just the name of a few. And in many battles and relationships, ministries and leaderships are not spiritual warfare against people. There are wars within the human heart. People fight because pride wants recognition, um, flesh wants control, ego wants validation. There's so many things that people get lost in when if you get lost in the word, there's life. That's where you find life and find it abundantly. Uh, let's keep going, Tyler. What would you say, verse, what would you say verses two and three?

SPEAKER_03

I kind of want to say one thing. Oh, go go ahead. Let's stay on one.

SPEAKER_00

Let's stay on one. Let's stay on one.

SPEAKER_03

One more thing about one is like we can't allow that struggle within our internal to spill out to everybody else. Amen. If I'm struggling with something, I shouldn't make you feel like you're the reason of that. Or you should not have to reap because I'm suffering internally. Absolutely. The struggle between flesh and spirit. Um, so that's where most conflicts start. Like you said, is internal heart posture. So I encourage all you guys right now to just sit sit in silence real quick, pause the episode if you have to. Amen. And just check your own heart posture.

SPEAKER_00

I love that, Tylen, because again, James is revealing something very prophetic. Conflict often starts internally before it shows up. And sometimes we think the problem, we think the problem is the other person. Well, most of the time it is. And I tell everybody on the prayer call, I just shout out to the ladies of ISI. I have to shout them out. You know, each and every morning we get up at 6 a.m. and we see God's face and we're continuously doing it. And um, this would make year nine. But a lot of times it's it's things that are going on on the inside of you. And before you can learn how to got to on top, before you can learn how to face those issues, you gotta know who you are. You gotta know who God is. And so a lot of times people get lost in the internal flicks instead of going straight to the source of who God truly is.

Desires, Motives, And Unanswered Prayers

SPEAKER_03

All I can say is that's 100% true. And um I seen a video that says it's not about you can't be more disciplined or you don't know how to listen. It's it's everything is rooted from love. We see that in the Bible a lot.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Are you just like you go to the gym, you're working out every day to to reach one goal, right? And it should be the same way spiritually. You should be exercising your spirit, praying, fasting, doing these things, all of those things that should be driven toward how can I love God more? Because the more you love God, the more you're gonna want to do things for God and from his love and stuff for it. Because you already have it once you accept it, but can you start moving from that love?

SPEAKER_00

And you know, when you said that, I just thought you were gonna say it causes you to love God's people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it really does. You know what I'm saying? When you when you love God and you give God the love for God causes you to have love for his children. Because, you know what I'm saying, we're made in his image. So, you know, again, I we're we're we're on to something. And see, again, a lot of unsubmitted desires create jealousy, competition, um, offense, resentment. People often fight not because they are enemies, but because their desires are competing. You're competing for the, you know, you want to be the best. Or are, you know, this culture that we live in has made it this way. You know, you want what other people have instead of what God wants for you. Um, you're desiring things that that God never wanted for you to begin with, you know, but based off of what the world puts inside of us. And so people fight not because they're enemies, but because they're desiring what somebody else has.

SPEAKER_03

A lot of times it is jealousy and envy. Um, even in sports, I can make it super practical for like, even in sports, you're you're you love your teammate, but sometimes you're like jealous of what they have or oh, they can run this or they have this many points. It's an envy, and like I said earlier, it's a heart posture type of deal. And like the closer you get to love Christ, the more you're gonna love that person. Yes, that person is what are we all made in the image of God. So when you look at someone, you shouldn't see their flaws. You shouldn't see, I want that. You should see, dang, because you have that, I know what God can do for me.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, Tyler, yes. And then yeah, and I'm gonna tell you something too, and I'm glad we're on this. It says here, when your our desires are not surrendered to God, they become sources of frustration, and frustration turns into conflict. Then, James gives another insight. You do not have because you do not ask. You do not have because you do not ask. And a lot of times, if I can be honest, that's the issue. You don't, you know, nobody's asking God. You're you're trying to figure life out on your own. You're not adding God to the equation. And then when life happens, you're like, God, what was I thinking? Oh my God, how did I get here? You know, again, James gives us this insight. This reveals that some believers are trying to obtain things through human effort instead of through prayer.

SPEAKER_03

I think it's it shows in the Bible tons of time what happens when you get out the way and you literally let God have control. That's another heart posture issue I had to check because in in a lot of things in my life, I desire to have control over them. Or past tense, I desire. Because I really, at this point, it is what it is now. But when I was coming to Christ, it was like, dang, I want my way. Yeah. I want this person to move. I want them to move. I expect you to move away, so you better move that way. Yeah. But you have to move to the money. Not expect you to move this way. That's how it was. You better move this way. Cause I didn't like how they were moving, or it wasn't beneficial for me. Right, right, right. It's not about that. It's not about that. So I had to check my heart like, dang, can I just be okay with not having control?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, you have to be okay. You have to surrender to his control. You know, I got again, we we don't we try to tell God what we want instead of allowing our lives to allow him to show us who we are at heart. And and again, it it reveals something else too. Um, he reveals the problems that we have. They're asking from the wrong motives. Yes. You know, and sometimes God will not release a blessing because the motives behind the prayer is not prayer.

SPEAKER_03

And that's in Oh, yeah, we're gonna keep going.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I'm sorry, I'm not.

SPEAKER_03

That's in that's in two, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, that's in verse two. Yeah, we're gonna do it.

Grace, Discipline, And Heart Posture

SPEAKER_03

Uh what I was gonna say when it comes to you do not ask, because a lot of us, and I think I made it very clear like two episodes ago, that we cannot limit God. That's right. Don't limit God, because once you limit him, he's gonna get uh so I think of it as God is gonna give you what you see him as. And as long as you see him just as oh, you're you're just a healer, he's gonna just heal you. But when you start to see, okay, well, you're my provider too. Oh, you look at me as a provider? Here. Yeah. When you start to change your perspective on the other hand, come on, Johnny. Y'all better hear too. It makes it a lot like easier for him to hear, help you out, give you peace, give you happiness, give you these internal things to help you with that internal battle. Because once you start dealing with that internal battle, the outward and the external, they're just gonna look better and better and better the more that is. Because he's giving us the method. Yes, he's giving us the word. A lot of people take advantage, he's giving us grace. Let's talk about like that word itself means so much. We we were given grace, and it talks about in Romans that just because you were given grace though, please do not take advantage of that grace. So when we are given grace, we should look at it as okay, God, I have another opportunity for me to do better for you. I have another opportunity for me to show you how much I love you because you've given me this grace. And since you've given it to me, I should be able to move like this. It should be easier for me to win these battles because you get you've given me grace. And I think it talks about that in where's it at? Oh, six. But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. But I think we're gonna get into that, so I'm not gonna too much talk on it just yet. But I think it's a good idea. It's okay.

SPEAKER_00

We get excited about this word. We start getting excited about it because we see so many nuggets um in the word, you know. Um the commentary says here in verses two and three, it says, The human heart manufactures desires, frequently selfish ones. These can range from mudane, I want a little peace and quiet, to weighty, I want power and significance. When someone prevents you from satisfying a desire, you are tempted to view that person as an obstacle, to be overcome as an enemy, or to be defeated. Therefore, the natural tendency is to murder and covet. It is not necessarily that you intend to slay anyone physically. Jesus, after all, reminds us that murder begins in the heart in hatred. Thus, the believer James addressed were relating to one another as adversaries. Importantly, James says one of the reasons they did not have what they wanted was because they didn't ask. How tragic to declare war against a friend or spouse about something that God may have granted if only asked. On the other hand, often it is asking, it is it's the asking that's the problem. Many people don't receive what they want from God because they ask with wrong motives. So they may spend it all on the on their pleasures. The kingdom of God and the needs of others don't factor into the equation. A helpful question to pose when we pray about something for ourselves is this how will God's program be advanced through the granting of my requests? Let's talk about it.

SPEAKER_03

Um I kind of want to touch on how you said uh what can you finish what you said, the last sentence you said about granted?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I said here the kingdom. Okay. The kingdom of God and the needs of others don't factor into the equation. A helpful question to pose when we pray about something for ourselves is this how will God's program be advanced through the granting of my requests?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yes, yes. You cannot ask from selfish ambitions, selfish desires. Anything you ask God that doesn't align with what he says, it's not gonna come to fruition. Amen. And let's say it does, because let's not act like God will give you something to show you that you did not need it, where he won't put you in a position where you have to lean on him. Yo, yes, he will. Because he's a just guy, he's a loving guy, but he he will fry you.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. Yeah, he has absolutely no problem showing it.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, this is gonna pull me closer to you. Because a lot of us we we think that we don't need God. Yes. And we can do it ourselves. Yes. And once you get a taste of what it what it's like to have God on your team, it's like, how can you possibly desire to be able to do that? I wouldn't want to.

SPEAKER_00

You wouldn't move without him. Like, how can you move without the father directing yourselves? You know what I'm saying? So you don't know, you don't you won't move without him. I get that. You can go ahead and finish.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. And then um, our prayers, like it was saying, it should be to advance the kingdom. We have to start thinking less of ourselves and think more of him. Yes because once we do do it, once we do do that. I love that. Once that happens, it's like God sees our heart pot our heart posture as something different than it was maybe two months ago. Yes, he does. Okay, well, you don't care about me giving you this anymore. You care about these people being saved. You care about more people hearing the word of God, you care about showing more love than like showing these material things that you have. You know, so what are you really praying for? Everything that you're praying for should not only be for yourself, but it should also be for others as well.

Process Before Promise: David And Wilderness

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely, the betterment of others. I mean, that's what ISI means. Iron sharpens iron. See, you know, Proverbs 27, 17 is a real thing. Shout out again. Because how will you know? How will you know the word? We have to do this for one another. If you're selfish, you've got selfish ambition, you're only thinking about yourself. How are you going to help anybody else? But see your motives. And people don't think God sees that part, Tom. That's the part when they ask for motives. Because sometimes God will not release a blessing because the motives behind the prayer. And he sees what you, he sees you. I mean, I public service announcement to everybody that's listening to my voice, okay? God sees everything. You can't pretend, you know, I'm gonna do this for you and act like there's not a motive behind it. God saw the motive behind it. So when you're asking him for things and you're asking him with that, with a negative motive, or when you have selfish ambition, he's not going to give it to you.

SPEAKER_03

He's not it's either you're gonna hurt yourself or you're gonna hurt one of his people with that selfish motive.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

So why would he give you that? First of all, he cares, he loves his people.

SPEAKER_00

But he loves you too much.

SPEAKER_03

He loves you too much to and I think I said, I think I had a video about that. God will not give you something out of mercy because you aren't ready to handle that.

SPEAKER_00

You can't handle what you're asking for. You won't, that you say you won't, you say you want the position. But are you disciplined enough for the position? You say you want to go over, let's just say you want, uh, dad, I want the biggest. Are you do you have the uh skill set to keep it clean? You know what I'm saying? Like there are a lot of things that we ask God for and we're not ready for. But again, when your emotives are not poor, you can hang it up.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And he'll see that even if you're not in a place of, oh yeah, you're you're not ready for that just yet, God can see, God can see that potential. Like you said, he can tell if you're pretending, but he can also see that potential in your heart posture. Like, okay, when I give you these, I know for a fact that even if you stumble right here, you're gonna get back on track. Absolutely. But then there's times like you were saying, where if he gives you something, you're gonna misuse it. You're not gonna use it for the edification of his kingdom.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_03

It's not gonna help him.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you're not ready.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. And that's what he cares about. Can you help his kingdom? Can you help what I have going on?

SPEAKER_00

And see, you make me want to speak on us on something that I've been talking to the ladies about. And it's called the wilderness. You know, we've been talking about the Old Testament. And so we're in the book of Joshua and we're talking about the promised land. And see, before God releases the promise, he takes you through a training. He thinks you do a process to see if you are ready for what you're asking him for. Because before, again, before he gives it to you, he's gonna get you ready. That's why the Bible does say those who exalt themselves, he humbles. Those who humble themselves, he exalts. There's a reason behind that. God is the one that's doing it. But it's so many, it's a lot of people that try to go before God.

SPEAKER_03

Like, let's we have the we have these, um, we have the Bible to help us see how God can move in other people's lives when stuff happens. And I know I bring, I don't even care because it's just like his story just makes sense for this David.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's David. Tylon is David. Tylon is David, by the way, y'all. Let's watch how to know. He finds him, y'all. You keep cute on the face. Okay, I'll say.

SPEAKER_02

All right, guys.

SPEAKER_03

What I was going to say, let me get what I was gonna say, which was you talk about preparation. You talk about um going through a process, going through the wilderness. Yes. And we and we see that with David's story so plainly, even in the beginning. God wouldn't have, and I I don't know if I talked to you about it, or I haven't taught anybody about it, but I feel like I've mentioned it to someone. God wouldn't have put David in a position to look all right. So God calls us his sheep, right?

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

Right. And what did David have to tend to? Sheep. If David had to tend to sheep, because God already knew that he was gonna have to tend to God's sheep, which is his people. That's right, because we need a shepherd, Lord. Let me see if you can shepherd this flock. And what did he do? Bear, done, what was it, lion, player to protect him. So if David wouldn't have handled those probably victories, he wouldn't have been able to get to what God has called him to be because he wasn't prepared.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

But since God took him through that season, he was prepared, and then what happened? He became king.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, he did.

SPEAKER_03

And a lot of times in people's lives, you have to just be okay with the wedding season, the progress and the preparation. Because once that happens, oh, God is gonna see if you pass that or not. That's right. If you can handle that. Because if you couldn't handle that, there's no way you can handle what I have for you in the next two years. That you keep praying for. But I'm putting you in a position to where you should learn this because this is gonna help you out when you get to that.

SPEAKER_00

And listen, let me say this because see now we don't we don't mean to do this, but we do this every time we go. We get excited about the word, and then we end up going and putting all the other chapters in there. So again, what you just said, it reminds me again of the Old Testament. Again, when God is taking the children through the wilderness, all right. While you're going through your training and you're going through God uh preparing you for your next, don't complain. Don't complain. You know, follow the leader. God will send someone into your life that'll lead you. In that case, it was Moses. Everybody didn't make it to the promised land, Thailand, because of their own disbelief. Everybody didn't make it to the um promised land because they complained. They incited the whole crowd based off of two, like what um Moses sent the spies. Yeah, Moses, yeah, Joshua and Caleb. Yeah, Joshua and Caleb came at with a report that they can they can go over and conquer the land, but you done got 10 that came back and incited the whole crowd. Oh, we we can't, this is a land that God is giving. Some things are a given. God is it's a it's a given, but you gotta go through the process in order to get it. And if you don't go through the process, then you're not gonna appreciate it. You're not gonna be able to, you know, you go ahead, go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

I was just gonna say, uh, speaking of the process, uh, shout out the uh the process podcast, Tyler and Fowler, all platforms five. You feel me? Y'all gonna tap in with that.

SPEAKER_00

But I love it, I love it. I love it. Yes, Tyler has a podcast, the process.

SPEAKER_03

You feel me? That just that just speaks on um what I wanna emphasize on my podcast is there's a process for everything. Amen. So I just won't, and I'll I think we'll go with it. Yeah, we're going into it. Yes, but don't think that you can just pray for something and get it without there being a progress. I mean a process. Right, right. That's why people are scared to ask. What does it say if you don't ask? You do not have because you do not ask. Yes. Because you know that when you do ask, something's gonna come with it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you feel like I don't know if you're gonna give it to me or not. So I don't even really know if I wanna ask for it or not. I don't really know if I wanna go through what you won't take me through for that.

Friendship With The World Vs. God

SPEAKER_03

Even if I do know you're gonna give it to me, I'm not in the mindset to want to have to go through these battles. I don't, so that really means you don't want it as bad as you say you want it. Hey, hey. So how bad? Hey, how bad do you want it? Here's another check your posture. Write it down right now. Do I really want this that bad to where I can go through the progress? I can go through the process, I mean. And if I don't have it for what, maybe 10 months, maybe 10 years, am I willing to do the work for God to edify the kingdom and put myself behind, you know, his desire to be able to do that.

SPEAKER_00

That is a word, Tyler. I'm gonna tell you why I say that's a word. Are you willing? Are you willing to wait for God? See, it's not given to the swift, it's given to the one who endures. And people want it right away. We live in a culture where a microwave culture, you put it in, you take it out, and voila. But everything has to go through development. I watch you, 20 years old, I had you. I watched you grow. You had to become developed over time to become into the man that you're coming into today. What you look like going from five years old to the age of 10, not learning anything. But that's what people do when they skip the process, and then they can't handle what God has brought for them because they don't have the skill set to maintain what God is giving them. So that's why we go through the trials and tribulation, y'all. We ain't gonna go there, but we get excited about the word because uh y'all better check out my son's podcast, The Process. He said it's on all platforms.

SPEAKER_03

Let's get we're on verse four.

SPEAKER_00

We're on verse four.

SPEAKER_03

You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be friends of the world becomes enemy of God.

SPEAKER_00

Say that one more time. Just say it one more time to the people in that. I really want you to put emphasis on.

SPEAKER_03

You adulterous people, that's all of us, or not maybe maybe not me. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you know, adulterous people.

SPEAKER_03

Adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be the friend of the world becomes the enemy of God.

SPEAKER_00

All right, so let's let's let's look at what Tony Evans has to say about this, okay? So that's the commentary that I have. So the commentary says here when we want the satisfaction of our own desires above all else, we commit idolatry and worship something other than God. Worldliness and godliness cannot coexist. Worldliness is a system headed by Satan that leaves God out. Believers are worldly when their decisions compromise or counsel God's point of view in favor of human opinion. I'm gonna say that again. Believers are worldly when their decisions compromise or counsel God's point of view in favor of human opinion. When Israel strayed after other gods, the Lord accused them of adultery because he was Israel's husband, because he was Israel's husband. Therefore, it's not surprising that James calls these church members adulterous people. The church is the bride of Christ. So friendship with the world is hostility towards God. If you cozy up to the world and pursue worldly desires, you make yourself the enemy of God. And when you put yourself in that position, you cannot expect your prayers to be answered. You cannot, listen, y'all. Adulterous people, we already know God, God is a jealous God. Only listen, if I'm your father, you shouldn't be going to nobody else. You should be coming to me. But that's how God feels when you don't let allow him to show up in your life. You picking everything else. It's almost like this language may seem a little harsh, but James speaks from a covenant perspective. Throughout scripture, the relationship between God and his people is described like a marriage covenant. When believers begin to prioritize the world over God's scriptures, call for this spiritual adultery. And James says friendship with the world means intimate, inmity, inmity, enmity. I cannot say that word to say my life against God. This does not mean we isolate ourselves from society. It means we do not adopt the value system of the world. Because look at it, the world says promote yourself. The world says protect your image. The world says climb over people to secede. But the kingdom says humble yourself. The kingdom says serve others. And the kingdom says seek God's glory above your own. So James warns believers not to allow worldly thinking to shape kingdom living. What do you have to say about that, Tyler? I already know. I mean, I really did go there because I'm gonna tell you why I went there. I when I talk to people, I talk to them like this. There's a world point of view and there's God's point of view. There's a world system and then there's God's system. I choose to work off God's system. Matthew 6, 33 says, seek first the kingdom of God and all of his righteousness. All these things will be added unto you. If that's the case, I'm gonna seek God. And I want God to open the doors for me versus man, because if man opened the door, man can close it. God opened a door that no man can open, close a door, no man can close. The world has a way of making you do all these things only to give you a little bit of whatever it is they want to give you. But God says, do what I ask you to do, and you can have it all. You deserve it all. Shout out to Kendrit Lamar. Shout out to Kendrit Lamar. I love him.

SPEAKER_03

All right, girls. Get back locked in. Sorry, we're locked in.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, Kay, Kendra knows what he's talking about. Come on. Let's keep going, Tyler. What you got to say about that, though? You got any words on it?

SPEAKER_03

I feel like it's like self-explanatory. It tells you that um it's a it's a hard reality check. If you want the world, you can't have him. Hey. That's I mean, I think it's easy for me to say it as plainly as possible.

SPEAKER_00

Tyler's Tyler don't have no problem with sugarcoat. Listen.

Jealous God, Greater Grace, Daily Humility

SPEAKER_03

But James is the same way. I don't want a sugar coat because like I will be doing y'all a disservice if I'm telling y'all, if I'm feeding y'all this this milk, this milk and this milk. What does it say? It says you're gonna have to get solid food. No, give us some solid food, Tyler.

SPEAKER_00

They ain't ready for the solid food, son.

SPEAKER_03

If you keep living in the world, come on. I'm emphasizing living in because once again, we will all be struggling. We will never not struggle with certain things because we will never be perfect.

SPEAKER_00

But we're in the world.

SPEAKER_03

But when you choose to live for the world, when God says do not be conformed by the world, come on. We cannot be surprised when we're stuck in a mindset of that's never being renewed by Christ. Come on. You can't be mad when it's like, okay, well, this didn't happen for me, God. What are you doing? Um, well, you're look who you're living for. You're not even living for me. If you're not living for me, if you're not trying to edify my kingdom, if you're not trying to move how I want you to move, I look at you, and this is it says in the scripture, you're moving as an enemy of me right now.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you can't serve two masters.

SPEAKER_03

You can't serve two masters.

SPEAKER_00

And you know what the other mass is? Money.

SPEAKER_03

I know A.

SPEAKER_00

It is. It's it's God and his truth, and people don't want to talk about it. But people love status, they love of approval, you know, they want the approval of everybody. They want that position. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like a prioritizing culture over Christ. And where is that gonna get you? Nowhere. Well, well, it will get you somewhere.

SPEAKER_03

I'll tell you where it's gonna get. I'll tell you where it's gonna get you. Tyler's gonna tell y'all where it's gonna get y'all. I this is scriptural. Hey, let me know if I'm in the book or not. You in the book? I I hate when people say, dang, if God loves us so much, he'll send us to hell. No, no, he won't. And no, he will not send you to hell. You will send yourself. The way you choose to live your life on this earth, like he hasn't given you scripture, like he hasn't given you prophet, like he hasn't given you the media and you better speak to the people, boy. You're doing that to yourself. Sure are. And if you didn't, and if you didn't prioritize spending time with God now, why are you gonna try paying? It's God, I'm sorry, somebody should have told me. No, you knew. You knew. You knew you chose not to do that. Well, I'm gonna tell you something.

SPEAKER_00

I'm I'm gonna say something right here, and this is for the people that uh, you know, they've been in church their whole lives and they've been wanting, why, waiting, wanting God to move, wanting God to see a move of God title. A lot of times people are not equipped or not even anointed to be in the positions that they are in. But because of the status quo, they will they will put themselves in this position and align themselves with this word as if they are called to do what thus says the Lord. And then when all hell breaks loose, because guess what? You're gonna be tested. You're gonna be tested. It's gonna show who you are. It's gonna show what you're really made of. When a believer pursues the world system more than God's presence, they could create spiritual infidelity. And that's a bomb, that's the father looking at you like, really? Like I'm here for you while you're over here looking at the world to give it to you. I got my girl over here that knows me. I sent her to you to teach you, to show you, but you ain't even listening. So you rather get it from the world. That's the world we live in.

SPEAKER_03

And the God we serve, the guy we serve, you want to get it from the world, you know what?

SPEAKER_00

Go ahead. I'm gonna go ahead. I'm gonna let you be great.

SPEAKER_03

Do you, do it, do it. Until you get to the point where you're gonna get to that hole and God is gonna let you, because God doesn't give you suffering, he allows you to suffer. When he lets you suffer so bad because of your decisions, you're gonna get to a point where, dang, I need to try something different.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

At some point, you're gonna get to that point.

SPEAKER_00

At some point, you're going to wake up. God wants to talk. It's a shout out to Stephanie L. Harrison. You feel me? I walk with wisdom. Listen, if you guys would like to go and grab my book, it's on Amazon. Yeah, it was an A. It was an A. That was perfect. It was a perfect setup. That was good. That was a good setup. It's an A. Listen, wake up, God wants to talk is on Amazon. Um, definitely go read it. It's a book about wisdom. People do need to wake up because at the end of the day, God does want to talk, do want to go and throw that out there, but go ahead, talk.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna say, and then we get to a point where he's done all these things and you still don't want to wake up, you still choose to live in the world anyway, hoping that by my own effort, something's gonna change. It's not nothing's gonna change, and you're not gonna realize that until you're dead and it's set and gone, and it's it's it's gonna be too late. Yeah. So why are you not taking the opportunity now where you have breath in your lungs? If he if God is waking you up every single day. Every morning. You gotta think. Some people didn't wake up this morning. That's a blessing. Don't like these are privileges that we think we have. God is waking you up because there's still purpose in your life. That's right. But when you choose not to do that, that's just time ticking down, down, down, down. And he's gonna get to a point where, all right, well, let's I I wanna also say this. Don't act like God doesn't have people he will use if you don't want to wake up.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yes, he will. Come on, somebody. You better tell him silence now.

SPEAKER_03

If you choose not to do something, oh trust, it's gonna be done. He'll he He's gonna make it happen. And if you don't know, what you thought?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you thought, you thought I ain't got no.

SPEAKER_03

God got people. Come on, Kevin has a whole army. He has some people. He has some people. He has people, yeah. So that's that's all I want to say, man. Just wake up before it's too late because when you keep putting that thing back, God is gonna need it to get out there one one way or another, another. And if he has to use someone else because of your disobedience, then so be it. And you've got to be stuck with that. Does that mean he still loves you? Of course. Yes, he still loves you.

Submit To God, Resist The Devil

SPEAKER_00

You can still follow him, of course. Absolutely. Did you lose that position? Yeah, you lost it. Yeah, yeah. You lost it. And you had the opportunity. He even talked about it in the book, man. When I what I was reading, I was reading um in the book of Hebrews, he was talking about how um Esau, Esau's soulless bowl of bowl of stew for uh for the firstborn rights. For the uh, yeah, for the uh for the birth rights, yeah. He said, and don't you know that he cried bitterly afterwards? If you don't believe in the word and you don't do things from his perspective, you'll feel the same way that Esau felt. It ain't nothing that he can do. That's why I tell I I strongly suggest go read the book of Hebrews 3 and Hebrews 4. Those were the same people that God brought from out of Egypt, and those were his children. Some of them didn't make it because of their unbelief. And he said, and that's it's in the New Testament. So, you know, everybody got a choice, though. Everybody does have a choice. All right, let's keep going.

SPEAKER_03

Uh going to five. Yeah. Five and six. So I'll just say these together.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Or do you or do you think scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit, he has cause to dwell in us, but he gives us more grace. That is why scripture says God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.

SPEAKER_00

Now, in the commentary, it says here, God wants you, if you commit adultery within with the world, then he won't sit back and do nothing. The Holy Spirit who dwells in us envies intensely. The Lord is a jealous God who won't share his bride with false gods. So, what does a holy jealous God do when his people foolishly pursue the world and treat him like an enemy? Well, God resists the proud. If you place yourself in opposition to God through your attachment to the world, he'll resist you. He'll oppose you because such pride imitates the king of pride, Satan, who exalted himself above God. The only solution is to humble yourself before him in order to experience the outpouring of his grace. Pride is like a beard, it grows without cultivation, and we have to daily, humbly shave it off. We have to daily, humbly shave it off. That's what Tony Evans said. Tyler, what's your take on verses five and six?

SPEAKER_03

Before I go into that, I just want to say daily. I want to emphasize that daily thing. Because just because I put off pride yesterday doesn't mean I can't be prideful today. That's right. I have to choose not to do these things. I have to choose that daily. What is it? I'm I've been studying Luke 9.23 about denying yourself. It speaks about that's that's a daily denial. Absolutely. I have to daily decisions. I have to daily disown the person I was before I I came in. That's right, time every single day. That's it. And a lot of people don't want to do that. That's why a lot of people choose not to follow Christ right off the bat because they know I'm not finna I can't disown. I I can't disown myself. I love myself.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

No, you love you love who you've painted yourself to be. And you probably don't even know what love is because you're not in the Bible. Yeah. You're probably thinking love is affection. Love is this, love is that. No. Love is if you're patient, are you patient with yourself? Are you do you treat yourself kindly? Do you treat others kindly? Like that's what love is. So I just wanted to emphasize that. That's what I mean. That daily. I love that.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad you, I'm so glad you emphasize that too, because again, it's a daily choice. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

But verse 5 really speaks about um what does it say? He envies or jealous. You know, what does it say? God is a jealous. He's a jealous god. Yeah, he's a jealous god. I think it's in the book of Exodus. I don't know if I said it earlier, but God wants your full devotion.

SPEAKER_00

Exodus 34, verse 4. Uh, thirst uh 34 verse 14.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he doesn't want that half and half of you. He he he's like looking at you like, um, you can't, what is it, what are they saying, Ma? Like, you can't have your take and it is. You can't, yeah, you can't. I never yeah, you can't. I never really understood about it. No, that means that you can't have this and have that at the same time. No, you can't. You can't have that.

SPEAKER_00

People try to though.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I mean it doesn't, it doesn't never work out because that's not it's not by his design. It's not by his design. Yes. But go ahead, what would you do?

SPEAKER_03

I was just gonna say that emphasize that be fully committed to God, be fully devoted to Christ. And don't think I have to be perfect to be fully committed. No. Because you can't reach perfection at all. And a lot of times I've talked to a lot of high schoolers and college students about I just I'm just not re I'm not ready right now. It's not about if you're ready. It's not about if you're ready. Because you're never gonna be ready.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you're never truly going to be ready. No, you're not. You're not.

SPEAKER_03

So you just have you come in thinking, okay, well, after I stop smoking, I'll come to God. Yeah, no, come to a stop going to these parties, I'll come. No, go now because that's Come as you are. Yes.

Mary And Martha: Choosing Presence

SPEAKER_00

See, we talked about that today too. And I mean uh uh um interject, but um, we talked about the Samaritan woman today at the well. God knew, Jesus knew what time the woman was gonna be at the well. She went when there was not gonna be anybody there because, you know, maybe she felt shame. Maybe she didn't want to go around everybody, but Jesus met her where she was at and told her about herself. And she ended up going to be an evangelist and telling everybody about the Lord. God is not like people. God is not like people. See, that's one thing that I love about our fathers because he does give us this thing called grace. He does. You know, when I look at, I read out of the NLT, and so verse 5 says to me, Do you think the scriptures have no meaning? And when I read that, I'm like, Do you really think the scriptures have no meaning? Do you really think this book is just a book full of words and that's just it? No. The scriptures that they are the very, they're they're God breathed. You know, when you get into this word, this is close proximity to your father. A lot of people don't look at it that way. They want to feel God, they want to see God, they want to talk to God, get in your word, and I guaranteed you you'll get to experience him. That's what the scripture says. It says, they say that God is passionate, that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him. And he gives grace generously. He does give it to us every single day. And some people will even tell you, well, you can't use grace, you can't use grace. I tell anybody any day, I don't know the amount of grace that you have. And you don't know the amount of grace that I have. But God gave it to you, and God gave it to me. Because I don't know what all mistakes you're gonna make in your life. I don't know where you're gonna fall. I don't know where you're going to drop the ball. But I guaranteed you that life happens to everybody. And the same grace that God is giving you is the same grace He's gonna give me. God knows who you are, He knows how to get you to that next level. So are some of the things that we do calculated in that? Yes. How else are we supposed to learn? That's why it's called the wilderness, but you're not in it by yourself. See, God wants to see how you're gonna respond, how you're gonna react, what are you going to do when things happen to you? If you say you believe, you say you trust them. Now, this says here, he gives grace and more grace. Grace means divine empowerment. It means God gives us strength beyond our natural ability. But then James reveals something important. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Notice this carefully. It does not say God ignores pride. It says God opposes pride. Pride pushes God away. Humility invites God in. And humility says, Lord, I need you. Lord, correct me. Lord, guide me. Humility creates an environment where grace can flow freely because you know that you can't do this by yourself. Amen.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_03

I ain't gonna lie. I was just listening. I just had to understand.

SPEAKER_00

I know. Listen, Tyler went into this little zone where he was just like, all right, mama, let her cook. Let's let me cook.

SPEAKER_03

I don't, I once again, I have a lot of conversations a lot of the time, so I don't know who I be telling these things to, but I remember having a conversation with somebody. And I was just telling it, like, I was just telling him on how the the the I think it was you yesterday or today. The lowest, the highest place we should be is at God's feet. Amen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what you said. Humble ourselves daily and meet him at his feet daily. And I think was it you who said it was me who is you you talk about always, you know, waking up, seeking his face, and being at his feet every single morning.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was talking to you because I was telling you about Mary and Martha. And see, Mary chose to sit at his feet. Martha was in the kitchen, Lutian. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Shout out to any of those people that, you know, are doing it differently than the world and still having success because that's clearly God giving you that because he sees that your heart posture and oh, you're listening. Well, you're at my feet. Well, they're working hard. I think I'm gonna prioritize the person that's at my feet, humbling themselves, that says, Oh, God, I need you, rather than the person that's like, okay, well, I'm I'm doing good without God. I got this amount of money. That's true. I'm doing this. It's true. Yeah, and eventually that's gonna fade. Eventually that's gonna come to ruin.

SPEAKER_00

You know, you just said something right there. It's very true, Tyler, because that'd be the main reason right there, people be upset. You know, it's your heart posture, and all of this comes down to your heart posture, yes. When I read the move, when I read the uh story in the book of Luke, chapter 10, Martha was in the kitchen, uh getting getting things together for Jesus. And Mary was at Jesus' feet. And Martha goes over and she's like, Jesus, tell Mary to come in here and help me. And Jesus looks at Martha and says, Martha, you're worried about too many things, but you're you're you but but Mary chose the best portion. You're worried about many things, but there's only one thing that really matters. And Mary chose that. Mary chose to sit at my feet. So that will not be taken away from her. When I read that Tyler Moore, I tell you what, I got free on a whole nother level because I'm at his feet every morning. And I want to know. I want my father to teach me to show me what what his word says about this world that I live in. So you're right, versus the person that got crossing T's and dot and N's, and I got all this and that and this. But this servant right here is just at my feet. This servant right here just wanna know who you think God gonna answer.

SPEAKER_03

I know I know I know who he's gonna answer. I feel like I just said that completely wrong. But yeah, I feel like I just said it completely wrong. But anyway, um, I kind of want to just go into verse 7, but what I have to say about that is does that not encourage the people out there who are working so hard by themselves to relax and let go and let God? If you see that God can move for a woman that's at his feet every day and not doing the things that you're doing, stretching yourself out, living superworldly, and just worrying about every single thing, does that not give you encouragement? Like, if God did that for her, and he loves me, can he not do that for me?

Promotion, Closed Doors, And Protection

SPEAKER_00

I promise you, I promise you. Listen, I I don't know who this is for, but I want you to hear what Tylin just said. And I'm so, I am her. I am that one that was at his feet, that's still at his feet. To this day, I get a little moved by that because I do. I sit at his feet because I want him to teach me, Tyler. I never wanted this world to give me anything. Because the world we live in is really, really, it's it's a really dark world. You know, I pray for my children. I pray for my family and my friends because if God doesn't do it, who else? If I don't get it from the source, who else am I gonna get it from? And so I chose to just sit at his feet. I wanted to know what the word of God said. And so my life changed because of that one move. That one move changed everything in my life. That one move changed everything for my children. That one move changed everything for my for my family. So to God be the glory, man. I give him the praise and the honor when it comes down to that, because you're right. That should encourage somebody. Somebody wants God to move on their behalf, but they won't even seek his face. They won't even go to church, they won't even pray, they won't even listen to somebody like me. And God did that for me. I didn't do this for myself. I can't take credit for nothing that I have in this life. From my husband to my house to y'all. I even look at my children. I thank God for my kids because I didn't mean to get emotional, but I thank God for y'all because I see what seeking God's face does for your children. You know, I'm proud of you, Tyler, and I am. I'm proud of what you're doing. I'm proud of you having a podcast. I'm proud of you teaching your friends and being there for them, you know. And I know that you got it honestly. I know you did. You know what I'm saying? Because you watched your mother do it. And so, you know, this isn't me like bragging or just like, oh, look at me or look at my child, or this is a real moment with me telling you and expressing to you that because you follow instructions, because you're doing what God says to do, look at what he's doing for you. Look at your birthday. You got overwhelming love for your birthday from so many people. You know, they didn't have to take the time out to, you know, out of their day to to shout you out or send you a message to let you know that God is, they see what God is doing in your life, but they did that because they see it too. People can't deny it, Tyler. That's how real the word is. And so when your children walk it out, when you have children that's walking it out, when you have family members that's walking out, when you have a prayer call that you're watching God grow, you can't, you can't act like it's nothing. You can't act like this word is nothing. You can't act like sitting at his feet doesn't do anything. It did, it did. I wrote a book. Wake up, God wants to talk. All for sitting at his face. I mean, sitting at his feet, you know. But again, I'm sorry I didn't mean to go here with y'all. Go ahead, take it, silent.

SPEAKER_03

I'm over here emotional. That was a beautiful testimonial moment.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_03

I I love that. I love that. As you can see, it's real here. No troll, no realness. This is realness. So I just want to say thank you for saying that. I didn't mean to get all emotional, golly. I I definitely do believe that though. Um fruit. You know, we talk a lot about fruit, and it can be the same, it can be the same way here. And I listened to the song, you know, Mary Did you know? I love that song, Mary Did You Know about uh Maverick City, Chandler Moore. And, you know, he just he's he goes into talking about there is something inside of us. He don't they you you might not know what it is, but there is something inside of you that you cannot abort, you cannot get rid of. You have to allow that to just grow and flourish and give it to God. So when I think of that, sometimes when I do think of that, I'm like, dang, I feel as if I was inside my mom and I'm the thing that, you know, she'd allow she just, you know, not saying you would have done something like that, but realizing you probably didn't realize like, dang, I have these amount, I have these children inside of me. Like these children are gonna make a difference in people's lives, you know, and that and that that means a lot to me as well. That you know, we have such a and we're blessed with such a mother who you know prioritizes eternal things because we when you see the fruit of that, it's like you don't want to go back into the world. And me and PJ have these conversations all the time about how we help each other out. But I just want to thank you before going on to the next one because I know it's getting a little you know, yeah. We're getting all emotional and stuff in here. Thank you and Grandma, mainly you, you know what I'm saying, for setting that foundation within our lives because the foundation you set allows us to set one and allows our children to set one. Yes. So before you know it, we're growing in this world and we're helping so many people just off of one woman listening to God and choosing God, you know, instead of the world.

Closing Scriptures, Affirmations, And Sign-Off

SPEAKER_00

Amen. Shout out Dukes for that. And shout out and shout out to my mom for that too. I gotta shout out to my mom, Nina. I gotta shout out my mama too because, and my grandmother, Mary Simpson, yeah. My grandma may um the reason why I say that is because uh just recently my grandmother lost her sister, uh, rest in peace, um, Aunt Bert Simpson. Um, but they were like freak or frat. They were always together. And so um I called my grandmother the other day just to, you know, check on and see how she was doing. And, you know, we were just talking about things, and she said, um, you know, live in a way that's acceptable to God. She said, live in a way that's acceptable to God, because at the end of the day, you know, no matter what you go through in this life, we all gotta go before him. And he's either gonna accept us or reject us. And so she said, you know, live in a way, and that's how she tried to do it. She said, No, I'm not perfect, but I wanted to know the word. And every time I saw my grandmama, I was always trying to take her Bible. I was always reading it as a child. So again, it's not a myth, it's real. And people are actually walking it out and seeing the fruit for real.

SPEAKER_03

So amen. Shout out to the family, amen. Shout out to the family.

SPEAKER_00

Go ahead, Tyler. I done got out of the question.

SPEAKER_03

We'll go to verse 7 through 10.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh. Yeah, because look at the time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. Therefore, submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. I'm gonna read that again, because y'all gotta hear that. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean I can I can go into it if you I mean we we we gone, yeah. I mean, it's the blueprint for spiritual victory. You want to go into it?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um Submit to God. I think submit, surrender, and sacrifice um has just been one of the very big three things in my life right now, trying to figure out how I can continue to sacrifice, submit, and surrender every single day to God. Um, but when he says submit, when it when James says therefore submit to God, he's talking about your heart. Right. Submit your heart to God. Because once you submit your heart to God, that's that's where your that's where your life, you know what I'm saying? That's that's when your life starts to change, when the heart is submitted because everything you do is eternal. It comes from your heart posture.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's strategy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's strategy, you know. Uh James gives us strategy on how to do it. Yes. It starts at your heart. You know, it's the clearest strategy in scripture. If you think about it, submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Notice the order though. Submit.

SPEAKER_03

Submit first. Submit. You can't do anything if you're not submitted. Why would I wake up every this is just anybody. Why would I wake up every day? I choose to read the Bible, I choose to pray. If I wasn't submitted.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_03

How can I how can I just do those things naturally? Because naturally, who wants to just get up? Uh routine. Routine. Routine. But even me getting into it, it was boring. It's and it's gone, and it's gonna start out boring. You know what I'm saying? Because you're not used to that, your heart's not used to that, you don't really uh you're gonna be able to do that. You're not really there's a disconnection right going on right there. But when you learn to submit, it becomes a lot easier.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

And that submission, okay, dang, if I'm submitting to God, it makes it easier for me. This is it's not easy, but it makes it easier to resist the enemy.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

Because the enemy, everything he gives you, when he gives when he when he offers it to you, it doesn't sound bad, and it's not gonna feel bad in those times. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

No. It's actually pleasure.

SPEAKER_03

It's gonna, it's gonna feel you're gonna feel amazing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Until after in the moment. And it's like, ah, dang, and I was I think I did this, and I got fried again. Yeah. But it says when you resist the devil, what will happen? He flee. He'll flee from you. We see that happen in Matthew 3 and 4. I think it's Matthew 4. Yes. When Jesus kept resisting, Jesus kept giving scripture.

SPEAKER_00

He used the book, scripture. That's right.

SPEAKER_03

He would say, Oh, you said, no, God said we do not live on what did he say when we live on bread alone alone, but every word that comes out of his mouth. Yeah, exactly. So we see, like, when James in the New Testament, when it's telling us these things, don't think it hasn't have a place of where it can go from, like, okay, this is proof. If you do this, this will happen. Absolutely. He will flee from you because the scripture says that. Going on to verse 8, draw near to God and he will draw near to you. I tell everyone all the time, even Matthew 6 33, seek first the kingdom. It's not a king. I'm the blueprint to God. God doesn't say, Find me and all things will be added. No, he says, Seek. Seek. You're looking for. If you're looking for me in the fact that you're looking for what I want in your life, you're looking for who I truly am. Yes. And you're drawing near to me, I'm a I'm gonna meet you halfway. Yeah. I'm gonna draw near to you. Yeah, you get to find him. You find him. I found him. He feel me because he will show himself to you. He will reveal himself to you. Yes, he did. So just I encourage everyone right now to just seek and just draw near to him and watch what happens.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you know, Tyler, many people try to resist the devil without first submitting to God, and submission means placing our lives under God's authority. Then James says, draw near to God and he'll draw near to you. This is one of the most beautiful promises in the scripture. God responds to the pursuit. When you pursue him through prayer, worship, and obedience, he moves forward. He moves towards you. Then James says, Watch your hands, you sinners, and prayer for your hearts. This speaks to both outward behavior and inward transformation. God is not just concerned about actions, he's concerned about the conditions of your heart. Then James ends this section by saying, Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up. Notice the promise. If we humble ourselves, God will elevate us. Promotion in the kingdom does not come from self-exaltation, it comes from God's timing and God's hand. God's presence matters more than anything.

SPEAKER_03

I just got this that just came to me. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um you just relaxed. I see you over there.

SPEAKER_03

I'm I'm thugging you. I'm chilling right now. I love it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, you see you.

SPEAKER_03

That's when I'm at like flow state. You feel me? Like me to relax and just let God speak to me. But um, I think the last thing you said was about promotion and presence.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

The more you promote your the more you try to promote yourself, the less of his presence you're gonna feel. Right. But the more you seek his presence, the more promotion that's gonna be placed in your life. Yes. If that makes sense. Absolutely. And it's gonna be the right promotion, not the thing, I wish I had that job. The promotion can mean you not having that job and him having something else two months later. We don't think of it like that. We think of just we thank God for the open doors. Let's thank him for the doors he closed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, absolutely. Let's thank you, Jesus.

SPEAKER_03

Because you have a lot of women on here.

SPEAKER_00

Come talk to the women, Tyler. Talk to the women. Tylon's gonna talk to the women.

SPEAKER_03

Let's let's thank God for not giving you that man. Yes. Let's thank God for not allowing you to be in that because you don't know what was attached to him that was gonna get on you. Tylen, talking about it. You never knew that. So let's thank God for not only opening doors, but closing certain doors too that we felt like we should have been walking through that would have led to you being further away from him, further away from his presence, and you wouldn't have been able to do anything for him at that moment that he has called you to do.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so I just wanna y'all be y'all be thank God for all that back in the day that he didn't let you get.

SPEAKER_00

Well, listen, y'all, listen, the time never really caught up with us because we didn't even finish getting up with this word, but don't worry, we will be back here next week to finish this up with you guys. It has been an amazing time, Tyler. But listen, thank you so much for coming. Um, I want to shout his friend Journey, um, our friend, I say our friend, Viz. I want to shout Viz out. You know, she's in the studio with us this um this afternoon. Um, she's been doing the recording and uh doing putting some things together for us. I want to shout her out. I want to leave you guys with a word though. Um I choose a card each and every time we meet. Tylen chooses a card too, so I don't know why he's packing up because he has to read his card. But I want to leave you guys with this word. It says, the righteous shall flourish, flourish like the palm tree. He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. In Psalms 92, verse 12, it says, I spread on every side and I flourish on every side. Everything about me and around me is getting better. The Lord has blessed me, and I am a blessing. I am rich, very great, and so distinguished. My wealth continues to grow increasingly, for all things are mine. Titan, what was your word? You want to lead the people?

SPEAKER_03

My word is King James Version, Isaiah 41, 10. Fear thou not, for I am with thee. Be not dismayed, for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee, yeah. I will help thee, yeah. I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

SPEAKER_00

Amen. Which are affirmations?

SPEAKER_03

Affirmations. I have been empowered to expand, excel, win, and make progress without struggles or anxieties. I am the I am the best, most effective, and excellent in my work. I am full of life and abundance. I outshine my past and out and all I have done before. I bring joy, laughter, and smiles to the lives of many.

SPEAKER_00

Amen and amen. Listen, listen. I hope you guys enjoyed this word, man. Listen, use the word, get in the word, see God's face while you have a chance. Matthew 6, 33 says, Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you. Tylen, again, thank you so much for being a part of this podcast. Check him out on his podcast.
