SPEAKER_07

What up everybody? I'm your host, JP, and this is my co-host Josh.

SPEAKER_15

Hey everybody.

SPEAKER_07

And welcome back to another episode of the Film Bros Podcast. So, Josh, today we have a pretty good episode kind of stuffed in. You know, we got um uh probably some good reveals on on the on the backs of uh some very poor box office. We you know, we we probably got a few of those. We got a couple trailers. Oh man, I got a trailer that I'm hoping you're gonna enjoy. I'm really hoping fingers are crossed, toes are crossed, butt cheeks are crossed. But first things first though, we're gonna have to obviously talk about is the goat himself, Christopher Nolan basically refusing. After this weekend's debacle, uh he looked at it and basically is refusing all influencer help. He basically said, fuck you guys, you guys aren't even shilling for any of the movies, anyways. Plus, on top of that, um, you know, uh in this time of in this time of social media, um, you know, you can't really have fan screenings for too for too long or not, at least fan screenings, but influencer screenings because they basically, you know, usually leaks come out and whatnot, but I do believe that this is kind of like a a way to avoid controversy as well. I know that uh this movie has been kind of getting behind-the-scenes controversy with you know Travis Scott being in a role, uh Elliot Page as well. That's been kind of on a lot of people's mental for some reason. Um, but I mean, what do you think that this is just Christopher Nolan being Christopher Nolan saying fuck the influencers? We don't need them, we don't need their their talking points, or is he also trying to avoid, you know, the bad conversations as well? Is it two birds, one stone kind of thing?

SPEAKER_15

I think it's I would say it's probably all those things and more because not only is he avoiding leaks, but at the same time, it feels like uh the influencers probably won't get what he's gonna be going for. And so maybe he's just like, you know what, this is far above them. We're just gonna need the people that know and can pay attention to consume this properly.

SPEAKER_07

Even though maybe he's not like that tapped in, which I mean he probably should be. He's kind of like the WGA president, so maybe he should. Um, but or not the WGA, the DGA. Um he should know that there's been kind of a little bit of you know, a little bit of backlash online, right? So I I mean I know this is like how you said it, it's a little bit of everything. It's kind of like you avoid the situation altogether with the pros and cons. It has a little bit more, in my opinion, cons. With the name of like Christopher Nolan, you would assume that he would kind of just walk in there, not really give a fuck. Uh, because like, okay, influencer gonna watch it and all that stuff. And on top of that, like I said, it was kind of a big topic when it was announced, right? Like that, like this thing. I mean, motherfuckers were cracking books open because they didn't even they thought they knew. They they they heard the Odyssey, they were like, Oh yeah, that's the book that I totally did not skip out on in favor of Spider-Man comics. You know what I'm saying? Like that this story wasn't really a movie for influencers, right? Like how you said they're probably this is not the targeted audience for this kind of film. But a lot of people, a lot of the influencers were kind of hyped about it, and maybe falsely hyped, which kind of adds more ammo to don't do the screening because what if they do false hype again? So it's kind of like you know what I mean. Right, right.

SPEAKER_15

And it's the hype, and uh it's also at the same time like it's the blind type influencers, those influencers do it for you know to be like, oh what we we we we read this in high school, or why are you shaming me for not reading it and all that stuff? It's like because it's the most popular story. At some point, you should have read that. That's the that's the point. So of course he's gonna skip all the social media screenings. Half those people don't know what he's telling.

SPEAKER_07

He doesn't know the Odyssey, they don't know any of that stuff. I mean, like I said, I feel like that's a component to a bigger, a bigger issue. Um, does it kind of make you look at it a little different though? Like, I mean, that's just kind of my thing. Like, I Nolan's the GOAT for me. Uh, he's not one to shy away from these kinds of things. I don't, I mean, I'm trying to think of like I mean, Tenant didn't have an influencer one because I was obviously see the only other Nolan movie that we can go based off of, because unfortunately, our podcast did not happen when you know the Dark Knight was happening, with when Interstellar was happening, all that stuff. We basically we got the butt end of the stick and we basically got tenant, and that's okay. Um, but even then we didn't really get a lot of people going to watch it. We didn't even get influencer screenings, nothing like that, because of you know BOVID 19. Um, and so because of that, this is kind of like our first here at the Film Bros podcast, this is like our first. We know every single movie gets an influencer screening, we know every single movie gets some kind of test screening, we know they get a fan screening, and then eventually the regular audience gets to watch it at this point. Why is Nolan bowing out now? Like he's the go. I would assume you just walk in there with you know that does it make it look a little different because you would think that Nolan with all the movies under his belt, he would just kind of do it. Like, why not? If it's a good movie, they the people in the audience should understand, am I right? Regardless.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, but I I don't know, dude. I think it just wants to console hype, also. And like I said, I don't know if the people that he's gonna be pre-showing this to are gonna fully grasp what's happening.

SPEAKER_07

I know I know tenant was kind of ripped to shreds too. Oh, ripped to shreds. Yeah. You remember that biker lady that basically was like, what was that movie about? I'll never get that time back. And Nolan basically I feel like he responded in a way, but he just didn't outright directly respond, which I mean, why would he? It's a biker lady. But she was just like, Tenant, and what the fuck's up with that movie? That's about two hours of my life I'll never get back. And she's like doing her exercise, and then she goes, Well, anyways, and then she keeps on moving on, and I'm just like, damn, what a fucking crazy drive-by. And then Nolan catches wind of that. It's insane. I'm just like, dude, let me just get on a bike and pedal a little bit, let me see what happens. Um, but yeah, so no influencer screenings. Uh, I'm assuming we're still gonna get the fan screenings, so I'm assuming all the influencers are gonna basically huddle up into the fan screenings. That just makes a lot of sense to me. Um, unless you're in the actual press screenings, like you know, Grace Randolph and you know, all the bigger names that are supposed to be there, or at least invited. I know a lot of you know, a lot of these people got uninvited because they just drag movies through the ground for no reason. Sometimes it is what it is. Um, but yeah, Christopher Nolan skipping the social media influencer screenings. It's not a big surprise, I guess, on our side, but also a little one because you're like, yeah, you're the top dog. You would you would just kind of do it, right? Just kind of appease everybody, show that it could go through all the levels, right? You know, the the usual channels, and then you know, come out the other side basically victorious. But like I said, tenant, I would say tenant probably left a scar on the man just a little bit. Tenant was kind of it was unf I I've even watched it. I'm like, Nolan was on some good shit when he made it. Like, honestly, like he was probably on that great whatever the hell he smokes because he's just I'm assuming the best gas on earth because he is Nolan. So we gotta we just gotta assume that. But let us know what you guys think. We're gonna move on. Uh, boxed office basically showing us that supergirl does not have the staying power, does not even have the landing power that she needs. Uh Supergirl's landing second, um, basically losing top spot to Toy Story 5, which basically had a full week under its belt before basically going head to head with Supergirl. Supergirl is clocking in to to uh drag in around 72.5 uh million altogether. Uh that's worldwide. Because if we're talking about just domestic, it's looking like it's only bringing in like 40 million. Thank you, Josh, for your contribution. Um, it's about getting like 40 million domestic, probably another 30, close to 40 uh worldwide. So it's looking about 70, 70 to about 80 million. Probably we'll get the real numbers with uh tomorrow, Monday at the time recording it's Sunday. So I mean we're gonna have to wait for that. Uh, but yeah, that it's making around 72.5 million, where basically Toy Story is blowing it out of the water. Uh on its opening weekend, it made 160 million. It only dropped 55%, so it's making up it's making about 100 million, almost 90 to close to northern close to 100 million, probably 96 while the numbers are still fluctuating. 96 million. So we're still chilling with Toy Story, and Toy Story is apparently the story's so good that a lot of people are really returning back. Pick uh, you know, Pixar Disney, they're basically knocking it out the park. Hoppers was really good. I can't wait to see this Toy Story one. That's on another note. DC Studios is struggling, though. We talked about this on our previous episode that's gonna be coming out uh pretty soon. Um Josh, I'm assuming it's before this episode, right? So you guys probably heard that one first. Uh, supergirl is struggling. All right, the DCU is struggling, and we're gonna be talking about that during our Supergirl review because we're probably gonna be doing that pretty soon. Pretty soon. I'm gonna have to go. I'm I'm going to watch it. Josh already watched it. We're uh we're gonna have to do this once and for all, it's gonna have to happen. But Josh, Supergirl coming in second to Toy Story 5. Jesse got motherfuckers in a chokehold. And you can't even say that this is like a Woody and Buzz movie. Uh, I heard that it they're obviously involved is is Toy Story, but it is basically a Jesse movie, what it sounds like. Um Supergirl couldn't surpass it, Supergirl cannot do it. Um, superhero movie, DC Studios, big brand name.

SPEAKER_15

DC DC Studios in trouble, or it isn't news anymore. I always feel like like we're always talking about this. It was that it was fucking Superman, and then it was this one. This one's just not getting the press and PR that Superman was getting. The highest grossing for a Wednesday type shit.

SPEAKER_07

Like Superman, you could kind of spin it. Like there was you know a little bit of money behind it where you could be like, it's doing decent, like we're doing okay. You know what I mean? Obviously, it's not doing amazing, it or it wasn't doing amazing, but you could spin it to be like, oh, we're doing we're doing good. Supergirl, it seems like there's no spinning. If anything, it looks like the director's actively throwing James Gunn under the bus as we speak. So we're gonna probably talk about that when we get to the Supergirl um review and all that stuff, because I'm I'm definitely saving that one. Um, in case he does give out a little bit more. But we are getting a lot of DC things on the side because of this box office. So maybe not all not all's bad at DC Universe Land.

SPEAKER_15

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. If if if if you're gonna be talking about the stuff that they revealed, no, uh-uh, no, they don't get off the hook because of what they plan to bring out. Okay, then no no no no no supergirl was for lack of a better word, atrocious. Um it's obviously not gonna be Toy Story.

SPEAKER_08

I feel like there is better words in your brain, but you just you chose to have lack of but yeah, no, no, no, bro.

SPEAKER_15

I was like, we gotta save it for the actual review. Right, right, right. Right. So Atrocious, um, and I mean obviously not gonna beat an animated movie. I don't even I don't think it'll ever be an animated like movie, let alone Toy Story.

SPEAKER_07

I I feel like if if if uh I feel Super Supergirl versus Toy Story 4, it probably would have had a better chance. But it sounds like Toy Story 5 actually has a decent story, and it actually is you know pulling on the heartstrings of people, so it's actually doing what it needs to do. Like, yeah, an animated movie beating out uh an actual like movie, sure, but a Pixar movie that totally makes sense. And a IP that's been around for years, years. I mean, everybody knows the story about Toy Story 2 and how you know they almost erased it. We almost didn't even have a whole Toy Story saga, and then you know the lady had a backup at her house and she wound up getting fired recently a couple years back. But, anyways, Toy Story 2 or Toy Story 5 would have never happened without her, and she got fired, anyways.

SPEAKER_15

Um Well, I don't know because I mean think about it. Before we seen it, Toy Story 4 had the hype. They were like, What? They're making a fourth one? Like, we like okay, sure, let's get behind it. So, but like when the general audience look at it and be like, it wasn't good.

SPEAKER_07

Let me see how much that movie made too.

SPEAKER_15

I all I know is that Supergirls do in fucking Black Adam number one.

SPEAKER_07

Toy Story 4 still made a billion. So I mean, regardless regardless of it being mid, people still went to go.

SPEAKER_15

Well, yeah, because that one had the hype. Yeah, that one had the hype behind it.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, you're like saying animated movie, like it wasn't a movie that that basically came in multiple years prior, and people are gonna love these characters and just come in. Like Toy Story 5, you putting Supergirl let's just say a DC property that's been struggling for many years to basically make it onto the big screen, and when you finally get there, I mean you you had it back in the day, right? You had it back in the day. Which is funny, you know what's funny? I found out that uh that Supergirl, that apparently Christopher Reeves was supposed to be in Supergirl the the original one back in the the 80s, right?

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, it was supposed to be like connected.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, and he refused to want to be on there, like he didn't want to be in that movie. So I was wondering uh it kind of made me think. I was like, is it kind of disrespectful that they still put him next to her in the flash movie? Anyway, so but that's that's something different. But I was kind of thinking about that. But um Supergirl has been struggling for a while to get to get up there. Toy Story has already made its name. It's already you know what I mean. It's not like it's going against Hoppers. Like if it was against Hoppers, it'd probably have like a 50-50 chance. But Toy Story 5 is already an established thing, and for Warner Brothers, James Gunn, all of them to agree and be like, Yeah, we gotta kind of put this one right behind it. You know what I mean? Not neck and neck, because it's not gonna win, but right behind it, we'll probably get a slew of people that are gonna want to watch Supergirl. Yeah, probably, but most people, in my opinion, are probably watching Toy Story 5 before they watch Supergirl. So this was kind of like a weird matchup to begin with. If it was a really good movie and a really good story, I'm pretty sure it probably would have came out a little bit more on top. But Toy Story 5 is doing amazing right now. So Toy Story is not just a random animated movie, though. That's just my point. You can't like you're you you make it sound like it's Mitchell and the machines or something.

SPEAKER_15

That movie was good though.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'm I'm not saying it was bad, but that's a new IP that maybe a lot of people wouldn't really take a risk on, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_15

Right. So I don't know I don't know, dude. And that's the thing, Supergirl just wasn't gonna beat it. And like I haven't seen Toy Story 5, but honestly, the contender, the winner for me, uh for June movies has to be fucking Masters of the Universe.

SPEAKER_07

You're gonna watch Toy Story 5, though.

SPEAKER_15

Nah, for the time being, that's what holds it top spot. I don't know. I'm always gonna wait for streaming for Toy Story 5, but yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Pixar Disney have been kind of upping their game. I feel like they heard everybody's complaints and they kind of been I still want to go see Disclosure Day. So, like that that one's obviously on the list too. But you gotta obviously watch Hoppers too if you haven't watched it.

SPEAKER_15

Exactly. Yeah, see, so like there's a couple that are already gonna be hitting streaming. So Supergirl might be one of them in a month. Watch.

SPEAKER_07

Probably, probably right next to Superman on Amazon Prime. No, I'm just kidding. Uh, but let us know what you guys think, Supergirl. Unfortunately, if you were a fan of Supergirl, she doesn't seem to be doing too good. But if you're a fan of Toy Story, congratulations. It's doing amazing. But like I said, this bad news basically brings in what I like to call or at least what you like to call is what Josh, uh saving their ass, right? Uh James Gunn before the premiere um did post this weird picture which got a lot of people kind of talking. Um is there any doubt in our mind now that the lady that's we've been talking about, I forgot her name. Uh what's her name again? That she that she was supposed to be playing Wonder Woman, but apparently you know, she she could have been playing Maxima.

SPEAKER_15

I don't know her name.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, this one. Ariana Arjona. Arianna Arianna Arjona. Uh she was being rumored to play Maxima, being rumored to play Wonder Woman and Man of Tomorrow. But then we got this uh little post from James Gunn on Instagram and threads, and everybody was like, Oh yeah, no, it's Wonder Woman. It's Wonder Woman for sure. We're probably getting Wonder Woman and Man of Tomorrow. I mean, she's right next to Supergirl. What do you think? I mean this was before the premiere, so kind of you know, this felt more like a tease than a a save, but we'll we'll talk about the saving stuff after.

SPEAKER_15

Right, right, right. So maybe it could be one Wonder Woman. I don't see why not. I don't have a problem with that. That's cool. I like Wonder Woman. Uh do I like Wonder Woman written by James Gunn? Probably not. Probably not. I've said it before.

SPEAKER_07

I think all of his been written by Anna Nor Nagruna, remember?

SPEAKER_15

Oh, oh, oh, you're talking about for solo film. I thought it was gonna be Man of Tomorrow.

SPEAKER_07

Uh no, for Man of Tomorrow, yeah. But she is writing She is writing Wonder Woman. Mandam Man of Tomorrow is gonna be James Gunn, but I'm pretty sure he's bringing Anna in as like a you know to kind of help write at this point. She's basically laced up in everything, so I'm pretty sure James Gunn and her are gonna link up and you know, she's gonna help with the Wonder Woman scenes and all that stuff.

SPEAKER_15

Well that's kinda dis that's kind of gross having seen our work already. But anyway.

SPEAKER_07

So I mean gross James Gunn does have a hand, and I I don't blame you because I mean he hasn't had a good track record of making female characters as of lately in the DCU.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, no, I don't think if we're gonna get Wonder Woman and it's just gonna be exactly what he did with Hot Girl, I don't think I want that. It sounds gross. It all sounds gross. Anna can't write women, James can't write women. Get someone that can write a woman.

SPEAKER_07

That's the tricky part, it seems like. Um I I mean, I'm hyped for Wonder Woman. I like I think we just you know, we're probably gonna rehash this real quick and move on, but we we already talked about this. The man of tomorrow is overstuffed as it sounds. Um we have a lot of going on already to add Wonder Woman into the mix is kind of surprising, right? Um I haven't seen Supergirl. We're gonna wa I'm gonna watch it soon. But the ending, right? From what I'm hearing, is kind of similar to what happened in Man of Steel. So it's kind of like and even worse because the comic doesn't sound like it follows that thing. So we're we're already off to a bad foot with the DCU and the way that we're kinda layering this out. And now we gotta go to Man of Tomorrow with the baggage of Supergirl. I mean, depending on if you hate it or like Superman, there's baggage from Superman as well. Crypto is uh seemingly equal baggage when it comes down to whatever we're going through, right, on both films. Um, so that's double trouble. You know, that's what James Gunn basically was saying. And that he's trouble, so now it's double. And here we are now going to Man of Tomorrow with possibly more baggage and more baggage than we can handle because you know there's rumors saying peacemakers in here. There's rumors saying the the justice gang is in here, right? J J G. Jim James Gunn. Um the command the command whatever. Creature commanders, uh commandos, whatever the fu what is the show called? Is that what they're called?

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, you had it, right.

SPEAKER_07

Like Are we gonna see Frank real with the gray hair? That's how we're supposed to see. No. No. No, no, no, it still feels weird. It still feels weird. Like a weird James Gunn insert. So we're probably gonna see James Gunn cameo at one point in Man of Tomorrow. Probably. Um I don't know. Man of Tomorrow just sounds good. Not good. And after what I'm hearing from Supergirl, this just sounds even worse. So I think everybody in the DCU is kinda checked out. Regardless of what this tease was trying to do, it didn't do it. Supergirl's still not doing well, as we just talked about a second ago. Um but like I said, this was more of a tease because it came out before the movie. Now it seems like they're you know now it seems like it's more of a please watch my movie, even though we told you it's not connected. But it's possibly connected.

SPEAKER_15

Is this a picture?

SPEAKER_07

Huh?

SPEAKER_15

It's just this picture?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, this is all he posted when it came down to Wonder Woman.

SPEAKER_15

I I would have went with something else, but alright. Yeah. That's fine. I think it's captured. That's fine, James.

SPEAKER_07

Supergirl, which obviously isn't theaters right now. And then Wonder Woman. And teasing that team up because on the red carpet we did hear on the episode that we recorded uh last that you know they were asking him if you know Supergirl was gonna be in there, if you know who's gonna be in Man of Tomorrow, and apparently Supergirl has a big role in Man of Tomorrow, which is crazy because it's called Man of Tomorrow.

SPEAKER_15

Man of Tomorrow talking about Superman. And then you got everybody named Mama signing up to stop Brainiac. Crazy.

SPEAKER_07

Brainiac just landed and he's like, Peacemaker, who the fuck is like I didn't even I didn't even know he existed. He's whooping my ass. What's happening? Like, that's probably gonna happen.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah. Yeah. Unfortunate. Unfortunate. But what can you do? You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_07

I don't know. Yeah, I mean, sure. The DCU is on full help me help me mode, right? We got a few reveals. We got a few reveals, right? Plot details for the dynamic duo from the initi festival. We got a few uh reveals from the initi festival. Um obviously the dynamic duo is something that we've been kind of anticipating. We don't know if it's within the DCU or within Reeves universe, but apparently it's still um up in the air. Apparently, you know. We don't even know if the DCU is gonna make it that far, right? It might just be a standalone at this point. Um follows Jason and Dick as uh as a duo of street rats who name themselves the dynamic duo. The duel split up as Dick ends up joining Batman while Jason joins the Red Hood gang.

SPEAKER_15

I guess, man. I guess if we're just doing shit. I guess if we're just throwing shit at the wall, seeing what works, that's fine.

SPEAKER_07

Why does everything gotta have a gang in the back of it?

unknown

Justice Hood.

SPEAKER_07

What do you mean?

SPEAKER_15

Well, the Justice Gang, yeah, okay, I give you that one. But the Red Hood gang does exist. That is like a thing.

SPEAKER_07

Just got gangs all over the the DC universe.

SPEAKER_15

Right, right, right.

SPEAKER_07

Justice League gang.

SPEAKER_15

The gang of supervillains. Batman throwing up. Sounds so bad, dude.

SPEAKER_07

As he punches Brainiac in the face. It's crazy.

SPEAKER_15

He just fucking has it stamped all over the Batmobile.

SPEAKER_07

That's crazy.

unknown

That's crazy.

SPEAKER_15

But yeah, no. I mean, that's I mean, I know this one's gonna be the one that has like all the animated styles to it and all that. And that's fine. But the synopsis right now doesn't sound too good. I I got a trailer. I need to wait for a trailer, but yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Is this sound random or is this comic book stuff?

SPEAKER_15

It sounds kind of random. Because I mean, what? Uh uh Dick is a little older than Jason. By the time he becomes Nightwing, Jason's already Robin, and like again, the the age gap there is a little different. So unless they're gonna be the same age, or around the same age, and then he gets picked up to be b Robin, and then he joins the Red Hood gang, that doesn't make much sense. So unless they're like I said, unless they're the same age.

SPEAKER_07

It's looking a little weird for you.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah. How's that even work? Is he supposed is he gonna still die and then come back to his red hood too? I don't know. That doesn't make sense. I'm not understanding it fully.

SPEAKER_07

Not vibing 100%. Well, these are just little teases to get you excited. So it's unfortunate that it's not really getting you excited. I was hoping that it was gonna reveal a little bit more for me, like, oh yeah, this is kind of closely to the comic book, and I've seen this comic book, but it sounds it sounds a little random.

SPEAKER_15

So this isn't when you think of when you think of the dynamic duo, you think of fucking Batman and Robin.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_15

I don't want to see Batman and Robin punching on another little kid. That sounds crazy.

SPEAKER_07

That's certainly a dynamic. Let me just tell you. Let me just tell you, that's a dynamic right there.

SPEAKER_15

And you know he's like, Batman, don't punch him. We came up together in the streets.

SPEAKER_07

He's a criminal and he fucking it's him like I feel like everybody loves that clip of Batman just whooping on Damian Wayne, though.

SPEAKER_15

Oh yeah, you know, that was kind of deserved.

SPEAKER_07

Who's to say the motherfucker doesn't have it coming now?

SPEAKER_15

Damien though, it's it's Jason, it's different.

SPEAKER_07

That was Jason and Dick, right, right, right. Two different people.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, I don't know. This one, I need a trailer for this one. This sounds a little crazy.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'm hoping the animation really sells it for me. Other than that, nothing really has been appealing too much for me when it comes to this project. But we got three more unveiled projects, right? We're getting an absolute Batman animated project, which is crazy because we barely got that comic, but now we're really writing on that more heavy. It it you know, and it's crazy because it seems more down the vein of what like Zack Snyder was doing with the DCU, and now we're getting to this point where like absolute batman is kind of taking that, like this whole absolute universe, from what I've been seeing, is taking that and charging it up to 10. Um, so it's like everybody's kind of digging it. So we're getting that. I mean, does that make up for Supergirl bombing?

SPEAKER_15

It does, but funny enough, because now the streets are calling for Zack Slender back. We're getting absolute Batman, we got a supergirl that you know does a similar thing to Man of Steel in a less unique way and kind of insane way. So yeah, we're getting all these things, and it's just it's so watered down, it's insane.

unknown

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_15

But I do like absolute Batman. I think those comics go crazy. I can I can be down for an animated version.

SPEAKER_07

Of of this kind of going, and then maybe possibly if it does good, an absolute superman being animated, possibly an animated Wonder Woman as well. So that'd be pretty cool. Yeah. Um but absolute Batman getting an animated series, Joker Laugh Riot, also getting an animated series. How do we feel? I mean, you're a Joker fan. This is a Joker should be up your alley right here.

SPEAKER_15

Right, right, right. A Joker. I mean, I guess at that point it just depends on like animation and stuff. I think they say it's an anime. I mean, I could get behind it. I'm just not too sure because the synopsis about him losing Batman and then become going on and killing Spree for it doesn't exactly spell Joker to me. It spells more like Punisher anti-hero kind of stuff. So I don't know if I understand I don't know if I get what they're going for.

SPEAKER_07

Right. I just read that synopsis right now too. He's trying to figure out who he is without Batman after the Cape Crusader dies. I don't know if I want to explore that too much. I don't know if I that's something that I was it. Does it sound interesting? A little bit, but didn't we kind of get that with in my opinion with uh with Joker? Like, you know, how who is he without the Batman?

SPEAKER_15

I mean, kinda, not really. There was no Batman to like make it work. Um, I don't know. I don't know how to feel. I this that's why this one's just a little confusing because it sounds cool or a little interesting, but I don't know if I want to see him go down this anti-hero like way.

SPEAKER_07

I don't really like how this synopsis is written though, because it it sounds like it doesn't want you to watch it in a way. So it says for fans of Batman's most famous and nemesis, all right? For fans of Batman's most famous nemesis, look no further than joke it, laugh, riot. However, if you're looking for the classic Batman versus Joker face off, this won't be for you. This show follows the Joker as he tries to figure out who he is without Batman after the Cape Crusader dies. It literally tells you it won't be for you. This show is not for you. If that's what you're looking for in your classic Batman Joker kind of thing, this show is not for you. So they're literally kind of telling you this shit's not gonna be what most comic people are looking for.

SPEAKER_15

Right. Well, that's unfortunate. That's unfortunate for you.

SPEAKER_07

I don't know.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, no, plainly being like, if you're looking for them to two to fight, it's not for you because that's not what this is.

SPEAKER_07

If you're looking for that classic Batman Joker rivalry, alright, if you're looking for that shit, we ain't got none of it for here. None of that is here for you.

SPEAKER_15

We got none of that.

SPEAKER_07

Look away now.

SPEAKER_15

Let me get a let me get a pizza with nothing on it.

SPEAKER_07

Right, right. Let me get the let me get the works all sauce. Like, what the hell? No, no, like what is this? I don't know. This is a little weird. The animation better rule, and the story gotta be good. Like it gots to be good. Because I can't even I just assume he just he's like, my job's done, I gotta go with him. That's that's what I always assume Joker would kind of do at the end. Am I tripping?

SPEAKER_15

Like I what Batman gets fucking murdered?

SPEAKER_07

Is he gonna fucking yap like fucking Scooby-Doo on a fucking banana peel slip, and then Joker's gonna be able to smash his face in or something? What the hell?

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, bro. Who the fuck? I mean, obviously, and then no other Batman members, no Bat family members in it either. I don't know. It gotta be. So this one that's sitting right with me.

SPEAKER_07

It gotta be James Gunn's Batman.

SPEAKER_15

He's like Joker's gonna put on the mask and he's gonna be our Bruce. That that's the way things are going, apparently.

unknown

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_07

Hopefully not. But this spells trouble. I mean, then like I said, literally saying this won't be for you is kind of crazy for me, but that's fine. And Josh, last but not least, we're getting a crypto animated show. Yeah. Everybody's favorite super pub crypto is getting his own series too. This is for err anybody who has ever wondered what a super dog gets up to when his super owners aren't around. This shit this kid's show will focus on crypto's adventures without Superman or Supergirl. Instead, he will work alongside a group of petty criminals and just may end up redeeming them.

SPEAKER_15

Ah man, fuck the like I fucking hate this dog, dude. I can't I can't stand him. He got his own animated show stuff, bro. They need to stop pedaling this fucking dog.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, it's the bar I we're getting a Jimmy Olsen show, we got a creature commando show, and now we're getting a crypto show. We're getting a Mr. Miracle. Whenever that is whenever that is, Tom Keynes writing getting a dark side barter, whatever you know.

SPEAKER_15

Big barter.

SPEAKER_07

Big barter.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, nah, man. I'm I'm not vibing with this. I'm not vibing with this. This this is fucking whack.

SPEAKER_07

So I mean, for me, the only one that was really appealing was probably the absolute Batman animated thing. Um the other two It feels like it got worse as it went down the line. I don't know what to tell you. Right. I feel like it started off hot with absolute Batman and then Joker kind of confused me because I don't know what to expect out of that one. And to be honest, like I said, I have a different way of the Joker kind of going about his life after Batman, and he doesn't. I feel like that at that point he's just like, there's no yin to my yang, there's no cat to my mouse, you know what I mean? There's no point, right? Like that's just in my opinion. Um, and then crypto coming along and getting his own TV show. Granted, it is for children. So I can't I mean I can't be too upset that this is for children, and we understood that Superman getting uh you know crypto and Supergirl getting crypto is kind of appealing to masses. They used the same trick pony twice, right? It's supposed to be like, oh yeah, Superman is for teenagers and kids, but to make sure like the young kids are interested, they're dogs, right? Let's go ahead and put the cutest puppy out there, right? Supergirl didn't really do too much with that. Uh obviously he's not doing too much in the box office with it. And now animated show. Can I be upset for that is for the kids? No. Am I upset that we're wasting animated resources to f fully give it to a dog?

SPEAKER_09

Yes.

SPEAKER_15

That's what Teen Times Go is. You can do you can still do it and with another character.

SPEAKER_07

I'm surprised we haven't seen crypto in Teen Times Go.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, I don't know. We probably have at this point. I don't know.

SPEAKER_07

At one point or another? You think we have?

SPEAKER_15

Maybe. I would say, I don't see why not.

SPEAKER_07

I'm gonna Google it.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah, he was.

SPEAKER_07

But I mean I like this version of crypto though.

SPEAKER_15

You know, he doesn't look like a fucking rat, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, he looks more like uh like this one, like a actual like dog. Oh, this one's a tight end. Um but yeah, so I mean we get we're getting those yay. Let us know what you guys think. Absolute Batman, Joker, and a crypto show. That's interesting. Um I have no words. I like I feel like I had a lot of words for the beginning and then it just slowly dwindled down. So Josh, are we excited for uh the projects that were basically announced post Supergirl?

SPEAKER_15

J just absolute Batman. I think that's it. Just because it has no ties to James Gunn and his DCEU or DCU, sorry.

SPEAKER_07

He makes absolute batman his Batman.

SPEAKER_15

Hell no, damn, that'd be fucking terrible. I'd be fucking terrified.

SPEAKER_07

Everything else is like all hugs and cuddles and then absolute batman is just wrecking shit in Gotham.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, no, he's fucking pray for the gay, pray for the people that gotta run into bane in that universe. Holy shit.

SPEAKER_07

Let us know what you guys think though. Moving on, Josh. Nobody does it like Tom Cruise, even though he's possibly in a cult. Um, but you know, we were supposed to get a Digger trailer. We've been hearing about this digger trailer for a while. Um, and Tom Cruise basically said, fuck it. I'm gonna do it myself. And he decided to put this whole work of art together. I don't know if you've seen this already, but Tom Cruise put this on his own trailer, and I'm gonna let you watch the goat do it on his own. And this was his caption though. He says, For the last 46 years, it's been my privilege to work alongside countless talented artists and crews to create these character stories and films for you all. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the movies. Digger only in theaters this October. So we're gonna watch this. We're gonna see a little bit of Digger, but I'm gonna forewarn you. There's a lot of eagle stroking in this video. So I'm gonna let you watch it and I'm gonna let you give your thoughts after the fact. Like I said, uh, or how I asked, did you watch this before? Or I mean this is a no, I don't know.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, no, I don't know what this is.

SPEAKER_07

All right, let's check it out.

SPEAKER_13

I feel the need.

SPEAKER_15

Three minutes of for two seconds of n a tr of a movie that's coming out a little later this year. That's tough, man. That's tough.

SPEAKER_07

I gotta say, the trailer did make me want to go watch more Tom Cruise movies. I I've seen all these ones, even his worst movies are like straight up like good. So I'm like, he is that guy. He is the guy. You can't you can't you can't doubt it, but when you the guy makes it himself, it's not like Paramount did it, he didn't even like give it a Paramount and was like, here, put this out for me. Like let people know that this movie is coming out or whatever, right? He kind of just did it himself.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. A lot of that felt just like Yeah, man, you remember all these goat goat shit I was in? Here's another one for y'all. I mean like I said Patting himself on the back along the way.

SPEAKER_03

Is it is it Is it not true though?

SPEAKER_15

It's not I mean, okay, it's true. It's definitely true. He made bangers. I just uh it It the way he presents himself is crazy. Yeah. I'm down. I'm down. I'm down. I'm always down.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. I am I am down. I mean, it we've seen him do different roles. I mean, I don't know how many you've seen from this like clip and all that stuff. I've seen like I probably only skipped out on maybe like two Tom Cruise movies I gotta probably watch. Um, but for the most part, Tom Cruise has been in my life for like a long period of time. Those Mission Impossible movies were in my life for a long period of time. Unfortunate, unfortunate, the way they kind of ended was not the best, but you know, he tried. He tried. Um, and everything that he does, he always tries. So I'm always excited to see what he does next, even though he has some shaky cult business going on.

SPEAKER_15

That's crazy. Leave his cult business alone, right?

SPEAKER_07

I'm j I I don't want to. Because if you could brag and boast about your movies, you gotta brag and boast about everything else, my boy. You can't just be like, you know what I'm saying? You can't just you can't just be like, oh yeah, I a digger, and I also dig into you know John Wick's protege, Anna over there. Like, that's fine. And you know, then I go back to my movies. It's like, no, no, Tom Cruise. We need a little bit of humble. I don't know. That's what I'm saying. Like, he's kind of at this point where he can do that. So, I mean, is it cool? I don't know. That's weird. But the digger looks good though, for the three seconds that we saw versus the the other clips that we saw from previous movies that we've already seen. Um, so I mean, are we excited for it? A little unorthodox trailer, but yeah.

SPEAKER_15

I'm down.

SPEAKER_07

I'm down for it too. Uh, let us know what you guys think. Check out Tom Cruise's page, it's on Twitter right now, and you know, he has it. He has his whole I don't know what to call it. He has the digger trailer on his on his thing right now on his Twitter page. Let us know what you guys think. Moving on, Josh. Paramount is pulling out all the stops. Okay, we also got announcements at the Anissi festival as well for what they're gonna be doing. And let's just be honest, they're getting to work, they're getting to work now that Skydance and everything, uh the Warner Brothers deal is going into place. Uh, the movies, or at least the 30 movies a year, are kind of actively looking like they're getting they're they're coming true. I don't know if it's gonna be 30 movies a year. We'll have to wait and see. But um, it looks like we're getting some pretty decent green lit ones. Um, maybe you won't think so yourself. Dan Thrattenberg is being tapped in to direct a comedy horror based on Fry uh Freddie the third Freddie the 13th, a Paramount animated uh movie. This is supposed to be a comedy, it's supposed to be obviously a mixture between Freddie Krueger and Jason Forhees, and it's supposed to be a little comedy bit. Kind of strange because I didn't think that our first deal with Thrattenberg after the announcement that him and uh Paramount were basically getting first looks, uh, that this was what was gonna be produced. That this man made predator movies for fuck's sake. Like I thought Paramount was gonna use them for a little bit more like Transformers or you know, a GI Joe franchise that needs a little bit of rehabilitation, you know what I'm saying? No, we're going for Freddie the 13th animated movie. Josh, what do we feel? What do we feel? How do we feel?

SPEAKER_15

Uh we feel kind of bad about this. No, I'm just kidding. No, I mean, I don't know what the comic is, I don't know what Freddie the 13th is. I don't I thought it was gonna involve Nightmare on Um Street a little bit, but I I'm not too sure. Um it's pretty cool, man. I mean, yeah, after doing all these Predators movies and stuff, if he wants to dabble in something else, that's fine.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. I mean, I understand tapping into you know your fun side and all that stuff. But you know, me be if I was in you know in Paramount Shoes, I'd be like, this is what you choose to do for us. You gave Disney over there Predator, you gave them Prey, you gave them an animated show that connects to said universe, and then you give them Badlands that everybody basically liked. And you choose to do this, sir? Are you sabotaging us on behalf of Disney? I need to rip up the contract right now. Like, there's no way, there's no way. This is this has to this is a Trojan horse. It has to be.

SPEAKER_15

It's just Paramount doing Paramount stuff, dude. You know, they're also dabbling now in like like video games and all that. So I don't know. Maybe this is just their test field. Well yeah, I mean well, yeah, but who cares about that? We're talking about Paramount. Um yeah, I think there's trying to dabble in everything, and this is just another attempt at that. It's fine.

SPEAKER_07

Um after 10 Cloverfield, the comes four months after the 10 Cloverfield Lane, Predator Badlands director, threaten brick signed a three-year deal produce. That's what I'm saying. First look deal for Paramount three years. Doesn't animated movies usually take like a year and a half? Don't they usually take like two, almost three years?

SPEAKER_15

Uh maybe it depends on if it's like 2D or not, I think.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, that that is true. I don't know. Talent's a little squandered here in my opinion. Uh like I said, Paramount could have totally used them for, you know, a Transformers movie. We could have used them for a G.I. Joe movie. There's probably another salute of Paramount movies that we could have probably used them for. And no, no. We could have actually used them for another Halloween or another movie that they're basically about to announce, but just not yet. Halloween has been basically cancelled, uh, the TV series that is. Um Dread Central confirmed that Halloween TV series has been cancelled. As of right now, there's no active Halloween franchise television series moving forward. The next incarnation of Michael Myers will likely be a movie. The source claimed Paramount Paramount is likely new the new home. Considering the strong relationship with Miramax, there is a clear desire to bring Michael Myers back, and there appears to be a genuine desire to get it right. The new proposal is a Halloween movie franchise reboot that will start from scratch and present a fresh approach with a planned film released in 2028. Oh this this and Thrattenberg could have been used for a Michael Myers movie.

SPEAKER_15

I don't even think I don't even think we need a Michael's Michael Myers movie.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, no, don't do this to me, please. Please, Josh, please, please don't do this to me. Be excited with me, please.

SPEAKER_07

Like, like, like the takeaway is that Thrattenberg could have probably did this one, but a good thing is that it's not a TV series anymore. We we've talked about this. We thought it was gonna be a TV series.

SPEAKER_05

Would it have been cool, probably a little bit more fleshed out, but we probably wouldn't have gotten the gore and everything, blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_04

We're getting an actual movie that's gonna re reboot. We don't need an old Jamie Lee back.

SPEAKER_15

We we get right, but we're still gonna have what what can they change up at this point? We're still gonna have a sister, we're still gonna have Michael, we're still gonna have a new doctor therapist guy. I don't know, I don't know. The kills I don't know if we need it. I don't know if we need it. I don't know if we need it.

SPEAKER_04

But it's good to have.

SPEAKER_15

The last one came out, 2020?

SPEAKER_07

Oh, well, yeah. The last one? 2023, right? 2022?

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, kills came out, I think 21, 22?

SPEAKER_07

I want to say 22. 21. 21. 2021.

SPEAKER_15

Okay, yeah, see. That one wasn't exactly the best.

SPEAKER_04

If we get it in 2028, that's about seven years.

SPEAKER_15

Those last three were st are still kind of iffy.

SPEAKER_07

The first the 2018 one was home run. That one was really good. Second one kind of got iffy. The third one You know, after rewatching the third one, I found the love for it. Not in the same vein of like the 2018 one, but there is a little bit of love there for what they were trying to do, I guess. But I understand and I can get that, and I'm behind you. But I think if Dan would have been behind this one, it probably would have been cool too. But like I said, we're using them for animated stuff listening to the stuff.

SPEAKER_15

I yeah, no, I I agree. I agree his talents are being wasted. But I also feel they would be wasted on a Michael Myers movie.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. That's fair. That's fair to say, too.

SPEAKER_15

Other than that, I mean, that's fine. You know, it's cool. It's cool.

SPEAKER_05

No, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_07

You can't do this to me. You can't do this to me. Um, and last but not least, Paramount is also announcing that Ice Cube and Nealong are coming back for a third installment of Are We There Yet called Are They Gone Yet? Um, if we remember this franchise back in the early 2000s, it was amazing. I love the first one. The second one was great with the guy from what what from Scrubs, the one with the orange hair. I forgot his name. Um, but he was he was great, probably the best part of the second movie 100%, but everything was amazing. Ice Cube obviously is willing to do anything for a check at this point, as you saw with War of the Worlds.

SPEAKER_15

Are you seeing what he's doing on his rapping side?

SPEAKER_07

We don't talk about that, we're talking about his film.

SPEAKER_15

Mount Westmore is something that is comprised of him, uh, E40, Snoop, and um too short.

SPEAKER_07

Um for the for his generation, that's not too far. But I understand for younger people like me and you are probably gonna have different people up there, but that's not too far for him. I mean, I understand for him that would probably make sense.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah. I'm worried where's Friday 3 at? Where's that? Or where's Friday 4? Whatever.

SPEAKER_07

It's obviously gonna be coming as well, like I said, anything for a check, and obviously, you know, money's running dry, and if everybody's coming back and saying, hey, we could do it, he's down for it as well. He's also back down for reuniting with Nate Long. Now, we don't have word if the original children are gonna be back. Obviously, they do have little babies as well, so we're gonna probably see them grown and doing their own thing and probably see the babies needing to, you know, head on out. Uh, but I mean this seems like fun. I'm down for this one.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, I'm down for this one too. I actually do like Are We There Yet?

SPEAKER_05

So Did you like the second one too?

SPEAKER_15

It was pretty good. I I don't remember it as well. Yeah, yeah, I don't remember it as well.

SPEAKER_07

Okay, I I would highly suggest you watch the second one again. I feel like it's a little bit funnier than the first one, but I do think the first one is really funny too, so it's great. Um, but yeah, Paramount's doing their own thing, a Halloween movie possibly in the works. Uh Dan Threatenberg coming up with Freddie the 13th um from a comic to an actual animated movie. Sounds like fun. Hopefully it doesn't take up too much of his time and we can actually do something good with that time. And I mean Ice Cube and Neilong coming back for uh for what I would assume would be an overdue uh finish to the trilogy is kind of nice for my younger self. But uh, you know how I feel about you know older people coming back at the same role, but they're parents, so I mean it does make sense. Parents get older, and I mean it makes perfect sense for me.

SPEAKER_15

Right.

SPEAKER_07

Yep.

SPEAKER_15

That's not bad, it's not bad. Uh to see those actors again, but like as adults would be kind of interesting too. Okay. The kids, I can't remember. I don't even know if they have like thriving careers like that anymore, but yeah.

SPEAKER_07

The last thing I saw, the like the son in the older one, I wanna say it was notorious back in like 2009, 2008, and then the other girl, I don't think I seen her in anything besides maybe a cameo on the Bernie Mac show. I think that's it.

SPEAKER_15

Well now we gotta dive. Hold on. Uh let me consult the box.

SPEAKER_07

I got you. I'm I'm over here with you. Um let me see. Are we they done yet? There's the second one. 2000 Oh yeah, see, so this one came out in 2007 and then Notorious came out a little bit later, so uh let's see. Oh, John C. McGinley. He was funny as Chuck. He was funny as Chuck in the world.

SPEAKER_15

Alicia Allen hasn't done anything since basically the sequel.

SPEAKER_07

Philip Bolden.

SPEAKER_15

She was in School of Rock.

SPEAKER_07

He was in a TV series called the Millennials 12 episodes. He was in an episode of NCIS. He was in iZombie one episode. Yeah, he's just been doing like little things here and there ever since. He's never really done more.

SPEAKER_15

No, well then they probably get recasted for sure.

SPEAKER_07

You think it's oh, I like them in How to Eat Fried Worms. That was pretty cool. That was a that was a good thing. Yeah, they're probably getting recasted.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Unless they can come back and they still have the chops, right?

SPEAKER_15

I don't think so, dude. I don't know.

SPEAKER_07

I remember in School of Rock, but I mean that was before Are We Done Yet.

SPEAKER_15

Oh well. Oh well. That's pretty cool though.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I mean I mean the babies are obviously not gonna make a comeback, but cool. Paramount is obviously making moves, and this is kind of gonna be the last topic before we go to the next part. But um Paramount, obviously, we had our doubts a little bit. Obviously, we thought the the better person won when it came down to like the whole deal with Warner Brothers and stuff. Uh, but now that we're actually seeing more plans in motion and Paramount actually, you know, announcing movies more at least this one, uh they they you know, they this seems like this is a kick, in my opinion. This seems more like a start to what they're gonna be unrolling. And if you kind of notice, they're kind of going more for like older IP, right? Are we there yet? It's kind of an older IP, Halloween is obviously an older IP. Them kind of scrubbing that whole series to basically be like, no, no, no, we can make more money at the box office, we're gonna go ahead and do that instead. And then on top of that, like I said, uh, I mean, Thrattenberg was kind of like in the beginning of all this with the whole three-year deal, but now we're actually seeing stuff come into fruition now that you know like the deal is actually done with the Warner Brothers deal is actually coming through. So, how are we feeling about Paramount, at least in the beginning stages of their I guess their you know, their rebuilding? Obviously, Skydance came in there, rebuilded Paramount a little bit, now they gotta go and rebuild Warner Brothers on top of that.

SPEAKER_15

Well, I'm pretty sure they're trying to like recoup losses, you know what I mean, and not in the sense of like like oh they spent on fucking this thing and it just didn't work out for them or whatever. Like, no, they think they wanna obviously rebuild IPs and try and get things moving again for certain stuff that's been like a little bit dormant. I mean, I know you said the last only movie came out almost maybe seven years ago. Um Halloween.

SPEAKER_07

Halloween, yeah, that one was in 21.

SPEAKER_15

So like yeah, yeah, almost like seven years ago, and then we get the new one, it would be like seven years. RB There is definitely like it gotta be like a 25-year-old thing by now.

SPEAKER_07

Uh the last one came out in 07, so uh yeah, close to a 20-year thing, yeah.

SPEAKER_15

Um yeah, so I mean they're trying, they're trying to like get the wheels turning on things that people will probably like, and then they can start experimenting with whatever else. But you can you can tell sorry, keep going. No, no, no, like you can kind of tell where they're going.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, okay. Do you think that that's why we haven't really gotten a uh a trailer for Digger too? You think that they they want to kind of focus on like the older IP, build that up, kind of get people a surefire thing that they're probably gonna want to go watch first and exactly what you were saying, then riddle it up with like random stuff.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, you know, make a bunch of money with what people know they like before diving into other stuff. But if Tom Cruise is the draw that they think he is, uh that'll be fine. He'll be the only one to get be the exception. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_07

Pulling into a 2007 bag is kind of insane though, to be honest. It is.

SPEAKER_15

It is oh yeah, I agree. Yeah, that's insane.

SPEAKER_07

Let us know what you guys think though. Moving on, Josh Zendaya possibly, possibly re replacing Matt Damon, and I mean if ever anybody remembers Jeremy Renner's little run as Jason Bourne in the Bourne series, um, the In Snyder basically uh says this is a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. But uh apparently a Born reboot is happening at Universal and that the person that they really want is Zendaya to basically replace Matt Damon as that born character. Now I personally I don't hate Zendaya, but this is one of those things where you know because I mean I watched that Anna Daarmas, John Wick spin-off too, and you know, whereas like you can already think it's unbelievable when John Wick is doing it, right? When Keanu Reeves is doing it. Just seeing Anna Daarmas kind of go at it is kind of it sucks. It's not it doesn't I'm not saying that it it's bad, like the action of the choreography, it sucks because your brain cannot wrap your head around like, oh, how is she surviving all this? How is she able to you know take down these big people? I think that was another issue that some people were kind of bringing up with Supergirl as well. Like I said, I haven't seen the movie, but this is like the little things I've been seeing online as well. And this is gonna kind of, in my opinion, play into that whole thing where it's like, you know, Zendaya is not a big-bodied person, she's not really huge. I mean, you could use the agility aspect to basically help her out and all that stuff, but once she starts taking out these big dudes, which I'm assuming there's gonna be big dudes that she's gonna have to go up against, it's gonna be kind of hard to get your head out of it. Plus, this is just for me, but I've seen her in KC undercover, and it's gonna be hard to see her as a spy person again. But that's just me.

SPEAKER_15

Well, um, okay. A lot to unpack in what you just said. But yeah. I liked Anna Darmus in fucking ballerina, alright? I didn't mind her. I thought that I thought she was great. I found it very um in the same realm that I see John Wick surviving that shit, I see her doing the same thing. I don't know if I can get behind some data in the sense of like Well I okay. Maybe I just haven't seen the born movies. Maybe that's my problem. Maybe I don't know what they get into there. I just haven't seen them, so I don't know what what they entail.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_15

If it's anything like Mission Impossible, where like they gotta be smooth and sleek and still capable of throwing hands, like an American bond. Like if that's our bond, that you know what I mean? I guess that makes sense.

SPEAKER_07

I think that's the best way to kind of put it, like an American bond, but obviously he's not suave or anything like that. He's more uh obviously reckless and the way that he kind of does stuff, but he's also precise in that way, too. Um, you could tell, like, it I mean, if you just look up any clip when it comes down to like born, like his chasings and everything, you could tell like they're not planned out, nothing like that. Like usually everything is according to plan because he needs to make fast escapes and everything, and he basically gets it done that way. So it's kind of like a a Born or a Bond, but it's more like a I guess a rougher American version of it, yeah.

SPEAKER_15

Okay, yeah. See, I just gotta watch him. I do think maybe putting a yeah, I would say. I I mean maybe is it Jeremy I didn't. Yeah. I didn't know that.

SPEAKER_07

He was a part of like one movie.

SPEAKER_15

Were they trying to recast Mad Damon? Yes. Uh did it work?

SPEAKER_07

Ask me if it worked. Did it work? No. They they went back to him.

SPEAKER_15

That's insane. That's insane.

SPEAKER_07

And so now they're trying to do it again with I mean with the female.

SPEAKER_15

Different, so I I'm not saying I couldn't see a female like taking on the role. I'm just I don't know if I see Zendaya doing it.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. But that's also because you haven't seen the movies as well, you said, right? So maybe maybe that's some homework. Maybe you go ahead and watch at least the Bourne movie, see if you get interested or whatever, and then you know, maybe get a reference on where if Vendia could even possibly play somebody like that as well. But I think the same thing is for me. I mean, I feel like maybe she can, but I would I would assume that she would have to put on some kind of weight to play that role.

SPEAKER_15

I would say.

SPEAKER_07

Because I mean if you've seen her in a recent stuff and everything, like in my opinion, it's like putting like an Ariana Grande in that role or something like that. You know what I mean? Like it's just not it doesn't physicality doesn't make sense.

SPEAKER_15

You just need muscle mass, that's it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Um, but I mean will this be looked at as another like woke imagining, reimagining, right?

SPEAKER_15

Um you know damn well that that's exactly what they're gonna try and do, bro.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, I'm all down for a woman doing the born stuff, like I'm down for it, but we just need somebody who can do that. I really liked when they were doing like this whole Gina Carano and you know these wrestlers and everything in the movies. I obviously they couldn't act, but maybe if you can get somebody with that kind of like physicality would be cool for these kinds of movies, because that would be sick as fuck to see.

SPEAKER_15

I can't get behind things like that. Just you know, they have Twitter. That's it.

SPEAKER_07

Right. Right. But let us know what you guys think uh Zendaya possibly re replacing Matt Damon as and Jeremy Renner as Born. So well we just gotta we gotta add him in there. I I really hate that everybody says, you know, Matt Damon, Matt Damon. Unless I'm missing something and it w he wasn't playing Born in that movie. I haven't seen it in a long time, but for the most part, I kinda figure like he was like I swear. I swear the movie's literally called the New Born or something like that. Jeremy Arrival killed the magic emigrant. Oh, the Born Legacy. That's what it was called.

SPEAKER_15

So it's like he played Jason Born.

SPEAKER_07

That's what I'm saying. Like I feel like if he didn't Oh no no, centered a new hero whose stakes have been triggered by the events of the previous three films. Oh, okay, so he's new, so he doesn't play Born, so I guess it I guess he doesn't count. I thought he played Born. Anyways, but yeah, not Jeremy Renner but replacing Matt Damon. Let us know what you guys think. Last but not least, Josh, we got some trailers, and I'm gonna start with the fun one for you. I'm starting with a fun one for you. Clara and the son. Jenna Ortega's in it. Josh, I'm gonna entice you with this, okay? I'm gonna entice you with this from the General Ortega's in it. Um, who else is in it? Hold on, I don't need you to read stuff in the post it. Um Amy Adams? Jenna Ortega. But I gotta let you know, Josh. Tycho Watiti directs this one. Maybe I should have waited till the end of the trailer to say that, but I g I g I needed to see your face really fast about it. Tycho Watiti directs this one, Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams is in it. Clara and the Sun, Josh, are we excited? I was not there the actors themselves call your name.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, I like I like Amy Adams and I like Jenna Ortega, but okay. Let's just go. Let's go.

SPEAKER_21

Hello. My name is Clara. I'm an artificial friend.

SPEAKER_02

Good morning, artificial friends! Good morning, story manager. I know. Artificial friends aren't as popular as they used to be, but I still firmly believe that all of you older AFs have a fighting chance at finding homes.

SPEAKER_21

Gloria son. Please let today be my day. Let me find a friend. If you get chosen, how will I know if my personal area could match?

SPEAKER_02

Just remember everything you learned, and hopefully they'll come to love you like a member of the family or family dog.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna see.

SPEAKER_02

And she's all special.

SPEAKER_00

20% off. It would appear.

SPEAKER_21

We come out of the lab with the intelligence of a toddler. And then we learn everything from our humans. There we go! And then slowly.

SPEAKER_14

Well that's done. It's all perfect.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's an eight five second centimeter.

SPEAKER_21

Okay, thank you. I love you. You're not the droid we're looking for, honey. I think that we can become really great friends and I'm just like, you know what?

SPEAKER_15

Sure. I can get behind that. That's not bad.

SPEAKER_07

Tyco Wait coded. Um, you know, Hollywood, stop pussyfooting, and you know, just give us Detroit become human in live action, please. Like just give us that shit. This seems like a quirky version of it, and I I appreciate that Taiko Watiti played the game and he really enjoys it. And you know, just make the adaptation. Why are we doing you know, this again where it's like, you know what I mean? Like we've had this kind of stuff before, and this thing's fun. I'm not taking it uh anything away, but it just, you know, you could tell that it's taking parts from another beloved franchise, and it's just, you know, he couldn't do that, so he's doing it this way, and he's obviously tweaking it to something different to basically start that uprising within the androids and whatnot. It's just more yeah, I would rather get that one instead of this. But that's I I I I like it. It looks good, it looks decent. Am I right? So maybe Tyco's just not good with, you know, Marvel stuff.

SPEAKER_15

Maybe he just needs to I I would I would sum it up, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

These little fun ones always look good, like Jojo Rabbit was good. I really like that they put that front and center and his other film, and they didn't really I don't think they really boasted about him directing uh what's it called?

SPEAKER_15

Thor and all that.

SPEAKER_07

Academy war winner taika. Yeah, Thor. Oh no, it didn't work.

SPEAKER_15

Oh no, it didn't say Ragnarok, okay. Yeah, oh yeah, don't forget the fucking disgusting fourth one. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_07

Oh right. He didn't he didn't put uh I forgot about that one. He didn't put Love and Thunder, did he?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_07

George Rabbit and the Red Right.

SPEAKER_15

But we know he did that shit.

SPEAKER_07

So he had to put one of the big studio names there, but he was like, I'm not I'm not doing I'm not doing that last one.

SPEAKER_15

He couldn't do the one he did with Mark Ruffalo and he couldn't do fucking Love and Thunder, so he did Ragnarok, which is close to being ten years old. Sure man. Sure.

SPEAKER_07

That's the one he did with Ruffalo.

SPEAKER_15

No, the the Not George Rabbit.

SPEAKER_07

No, Thor Ragnarok.

SPEAKER_15

The soccer one.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, right, right. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. The newest one.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

The newest one that came and went right after Thor Love and Thunder came and went. So both yeah, basically both movies are from earlier in his career when he was really killing it, not really later on in his career. So hopefully this is a return to form. Maybe he's out of Marvel, his his works are no longer gummed up, and we're we're getting better. Uh let us know what you guys think though. Check out the trailer Claire and the Sun out right now. Moving on. Josh, we're getting another movie with no voice lines, but Alan Rickson's in it, so that's pretty nice. Um Motor City is what this movie's called. Um again, weird that this is happening twice. I I thought when we got like that, uh you know, we get experimental experimental movies like this, right? We get like uh what is it? Get out Harry or something like that. Hardcore Harry or something like that, where it was like first person in the whole movie. We get some where it's like all webcam sometimes, right? Or the world. You get you get the other ones, horror ones. Uh we go we dip into different different ones. A couple years ago, we had uh a movie called I forgot what it was called, but it had the dude from Robocop in it, and that one was the side of the movie. Wound up watching it, but I couldn't get behind it. I uh what's the name with the that one director directed it to, and it was supposed to be good, but it just wasn't. Here we are with another movie where there's no words supposedly supposed to be said in this film. How do we feel about this kind of genre of movie? Now granted it is a medium where you have to watch it. So maybe it's not too crazy for most people, but how do you feel?

SPEAKER_15

Um pretty good. I mean, it's interesting to see a new form take place. So I can give it that. I just need to watch sit down and watch them. That's my problem. I g I can't enjoy it because I haven't seen them.

SPEAKER_07

Alright, well that's that's another that's another thing. You have to we uh that that's like we gotta try it out. Start with hardcore Henry. Try try an experimental movie out like those ones, and then let me know what you think, because that's something that I kinda want your perspective on. Maybe we could talk about that in uh next episode or something like that. But that's I'm gonna build something like that. We'll talk about that more in the butt that's something that I feel like those experimental movies they they're always so cool to watch like one time or so, but they never they never really get hit multiple times because there's always something missing, and I feel like dialogue is something that needs to be happened unless the actor can emote and express himself accordingly throughout the whole film. I don't know. Uh do you think Alan Richardson has that chops?

SPEAKER_15

Uh let's hope so. Because if not, it's gonna be very fucking weird that he's the the one for it.

SPEAKER_07

So all right, let's check it out.

SPEAKER_09

And the sunlight hurts my uh, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

This one actually seems like they are putting extra work into the visuals. I appreciate that. Um, especially like I said, if you're having no dialogue, you have to make up for it somewhere. This might be perfect and that I I really thoroughly enjoyed this trailer for what it was. Now, like I said, is it different? Because it's a small trailer and you can kind of get the gist of the story with the music and the trailer and with what they're giving you with no words. Compared to what, an hour and a half movie? I don't know.

SPEAKER_15

Right. Right. He's clearly going on some kind of war path for his wife and all that stuff. So I mean, that's fine. That's cool. I I don't mind that I think animation looks great.

SPEAKER_07

Alright, yeah. It doesn't look too bad. Well, Josh, ch make sure you check this one out. Check out some other experimental ones. We're gonna be talking about it. Let us know what you guys think. Have you guys seen some of these experimental movies with no words? Some some of them do have first-person POV. There was that horror one the other uh I think it was like last year or the year before. I haven't even got to that one, but the horror film all purely from the Killer's POV. There's that one. Yeah, um Good Boy is another one that I was thinking about as well. That's a perspective that doesn't really happen. Um so I mean all these weird experimental movies that have been coming out recently. I gotta get to those. Like I haven't seen Good Boy and all that, so I'll be getting to those as well. Let us know what you guys think. Moving on. Josh, we have another trailer called The Wait, starring Ethan Hawk and Russell Crowe.

SPEAKER_15

That sounds pretty good. What a good duo right there.

SPEAKER_07

Honestly, just off the names themselves, that's basically what attracted me as well. Ethan Hawk being, you know, that guy, even though he doesn't really appear in a lot of movies, is actually pretty kind of amazing. And Russell Crowe, he's just I think he just made a name of himself or like his name. I don't know if you've seen that uh clip where people were trying to get on his neck about where like he came out and basically fans were coming out at him and he was like, Look, he he was firm about it. He basically was like, Look, y'all are gonna stand right here, stand kind of back from me. I'm gonna sign your stuff and boom boom boom. But if you guys, you know, throw stuff at me, do the X, Y, and Z, I'm cutting it off and I'm going back inside. You know what I mean? I'm leaving, whatever. And then everyb everybody basically did what he said. But on the internet, everybody was like, Whoa, I didn't know he was an asshole and he would act like that or whatever, blah blah blah. And I was just like, mm-hmm I don't know. It felt like he was just maintaining order in that video, but I don't know.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, people are so dumb, people are so fucking they can see the nicest thing and then be like, Oh, what why is it so fucking evil? Like, dude, chill out.

SPEAKER_07

No, yeah. So I mean, I'm down for both of them. Let's check it out.

SPEAKER_18

The weight problem shared as a burden have, so what's the problem, sir? I'm in here. That's my problem.

SPEAKER_17

Got a daughter. In one month, she'll be awarded the stake up for a doctor. You know it's good time.

SPEAKER_16

This gold is trouble. A lot of desperate folks who think this gold ought to go on to that. You men are going to march it across the wilderness before anybody even notices it. But if any of it goes missing, then you got trouble.

SPEAKER_19

My daughter.

unknown

Stolen government.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, basically.

SPEAKER_15

Pretty good. Could be pretty good.

SPEAKER_07

It looks good. The acting looks really good. Um Does it seem kind of like a lot? A little bit. A little bit. Um It seems like there's a lot peppered on for a story that doesn't need to be so complex. I like some of the motivation that it's kind of showing in the trailer, but it seems like there's gonna be more to this. So I mean hopefully we can get this big point across without having to like like speedrun.

SPEAKER_15

Speedrun.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah, speedrunning it because it's it seems like they're trying to get something big across by the end of this movie. And this trailer is setting up some big things, so if it doesn't really pay off, then the movie's gonna be really bad. But it looks from the trailer it looks really good, but it's it's a it's it's doing a lot. Let's just be honest.

SPEAKER_03

For sure.

SPEAKER_07

I'm down for it. Ethan Hawk and Russell Crowe. I'm hoping it's just the way the trailer was kind of put together where they're just like really trying to get engagement into this. I mean, like I said, uh the names themselves really drive the engagement, so I don't know why you would have to really ram so much into this trailer.

SPEAKER_15

Who knows? Who knows? But it does look pretty good. I can't deny that that you're down for it. Very serious, I like it.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. I'm down for it as well. Check out the trailer, it's out right now. Uh Russell Crowe, Ethan Hawk. Let us know what you guys think. Moving on though, Samurai and the Prisoner. Samurai and the prisoner. Not sure who's in this movie. I wonder if it's I don't know. Let's just let's just jump right in.

unknown

Player. You're gonna have to cut this piece out, player.

SPEAKER_07

Cut that piece out, player. Alright, we're gonna cut the the last one, alright? One, two, three. Alright, Josh, so we're here at the last and final trailer of this episode. It's called Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother. Now this one is not a full-length trailer, it's more like a teaser. Um this one got me really excited because Marshall Lee is gonna be in this film. Um, I'm not really I'm not really holding out hope that we're getting his blade anytime soon. So I gotta get my Marshall Lee fixed. Some some way, somehow. If he's gonna be doing some kind of movie like this, I'm down for it. I don't know any. I mean, are you down for a marshal?

SPEAKER_15

Oh yeah. I'm hoping. But for now, I guess we gotta look elsewhere. You know what I mean? That's why that's why I was invested in the dinosaur one too, Jurassic Park. But yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, hopeful well, I mean he'll be back in the second one. He'll be back. Whenever that is. Let's check this out. Weird tra uh weird trailer or trailer. Weird title to go ahead and say, go ahead and tell your friends that we're gonna go watch this one. What movie are we watching? Your mother. Your mother, your mother. You son of a bitch. Let's get into it.

SPEAKER_11

A man came to the prophet and asked, who is most beloved to us after you? The prophet said, Your mother. The man asked me.

SPEAKER_15

Okay.

SPEAKER_07

Yep.

SPEAKER_15

I'm down. This looks pretty good.

SPEAKER_07

But with Mashal Lee.

SPEAKER_15

Yeah, with Mashal Lee as the guy. He's gonna be good. Another look a quick look into what his blade could look like.

SPEAKER_07

He went from training over there to this movie and he was like, Well, I gotta put this to you somewhere. We're the vampire.

SPEAKER_15

Right, right, right.

SPEAKER_07

Uh looks good. Uh coming from MGM Studios, they've been actually putting out some decent stuff. I ain't I ain't gonna cap. So hopefully this stuff hopefully this movie is good. Uh a little teaser here. Uh it wasn't really too much to go off, but like I said, Marshall Lee, uh the little bit that we got, it seemed engaging enough. See, this is where I feel like something like this draws you in a little bit better than what we saw in the past of the trailer. Right? A little bit a little bit less is more, especially with a story that looks like it's gonna be complex. It gives you uh you know, it gives you a little bit for the imagination, I guess, right? Um Josh, any anything else besides we start wrapping it up?

SPEAKER_15

I think you had pretty solid trailers today. Wink wink.

SPEAKER_07

Thank you. I I do my best when I when I pick up. Uh but let us know what you guys think though. Check out the trailers out right now on YouTube. Uh we want to know your guys' thoughts. But with that being said, that's gonna be our last topic for this episode. Any topics we should be talking about. I just flub that. Any topic uh any topics that we should be talking about, any movies we should be reviewing, TV shows. Uh, you want to hear your voice on one of these episodes, Josh?
