What up, everybody? I'm your host, JP, and this is my co-host Josh. Hey everybody, and welcome back to another episode of the Film Bros Podcast. Alright, Josh. So today we got a good lineup of news and a very good lineup of trailers that I'm very excited for you to see. Uh, as of right now, not too much crazy things happening, but San Diego Comic-Con is in its midsts right now. Um, it's it's actively going on. I believe Kevin Vahi is supposed to be giving his presentation here, like either right now or in a few minutes coming up as we are currently recording. We're not here to cover that as of right now. Hopefully, he gives us some good stuff so we can talk about um in a couple of days. But it is interesting though that a second ago, or at least in the past four years, Marvel has decided to skip SDC uh SDCC Comic-Con. Uh basically uh for a good chunk, a good four years. A good four years. They basically uh they had what? I believe it was the D23, and DC had its own little thing, so they've been choosing out, they've been opting out to skip it and whatnot. But this year, Marvel is actively showing up this time where DC, which is kind of funny, is you know, DC is kind of like, well, we're not showing up, we're not going at all. Um, they there was still kind of like a panel for Clayface yesterday. Um, but that was about it.
SPEAKER_09It was like took it probably share it with other people.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was it was a small, it was a small thing. So I mean technically they were kind of there, technically, but not 100% there.
SPEAKER_09Nah, man. It's like that's like Warner Brothers and then DC. They're turning in like they're separate entities for some reason.
SPEAKER_05That is true. That is true.
SPEAKER_09Well, they are technically not when you have DC movies releasing under Warner Brothers. That that's kind of crossing hairs.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. I mean, since Marvel did show up, I would assume James Gunn would show up too, but I mean, I'm I'm assuming not. But it would make sense because it would be like, you know, I we talked about it last time, it'd be like, you know, do it for the love of the game, you know. But he doesn't love the game, he thinks he's bigger than the game, he thinks he's Drake to the Super Bowl, but he's not.
SPEAKER_09It ain't gonna happen. That's look.
SPEAKER_05First of all, Drake ain't Drake to anything anymore. He hasn't been for the past few years, okay.
SPEAKER_09That's what I'm but that's what I'm saying. He acted like he acted like he's big three. He ain't.
SPEAKER_05That is true. Yeah, it's true. He's acting like he's I'm not saying yeah, he's uh he's acting like he's up there with the Nolans and shit, huh? Like, or if he not if he don't think that, he thinks he's probably on the same level of like Zack Snyder. And I personally don't believe that. So I mean it is what it is, but yeah, San Diego Comic Con's happening right now. We did we didn't know.
SPEAKER_09I can't wait to see what comes out of that, right?
SPEAKER_05Um, especially, I mean, we basically got the trailer already for Doomsday. What else could they possibly be showing that's gonna either hype up Doomsday or Spider-Man? I don't know. Uh, or whatever happens in the future. All I know is that DC's not there, they're not showing up either. And so if you're kind of excited for more DZ stuff, it's kind of like, well, you're gonna have to wait because there's nothing, nothing there for you guys. So it kind of sucks. Uh, but Marvel is gonna they should be either talking now or they will be up soon. So that's gonna be interesting, and we'll have to talk about that hopefully another day, if it's good enough and it's worthy. Uh, but moving on though, Josh, God of War is having its hiccups. Uh, maybe you'll like this, maybe you won't. It's gonna take a little bit longer for God of War to basically be released. Unfortunately, the lead actor Ryan Hearst has suffered an injury to his bicep. Uh, apparently, he's got in surgery and everything already. Um, he's in full recovery, but the recovery is gonna take too long for Amazon Prime. And they said, Hey, you got to go. So they are going to be recasting the lead Kratos. Uh, nothing about a trade Atreus, right? Uh, which would be his son in the video game yet. Nothing, no word about him staying or leaving. We're assuming he's staying, but Ryan Hearst is basically gone. Ryan Hearst did voice the original Thor back in Ragnarok when the game first came out. Now he was gonna play Kratos and Joshua theories are uh theories are basically up to us. I think this is Amazon's big way out, right? Uh, when this picture first basically hit the internet, we were all like, what is this? That ain't Kratos, you know what I mean? That's that's crustees or something, right? Like that's something that's a different god altogether. Uh, this was probably Prime's way out, but what do you think about them basically recasting? And on top of that, they're gonna start filming from the very beginning. So any episodes that basically featured Ryan Hearst is not gonna be reshot in any way. They're gonna redo the whole the whole shebang from the beginning.
SPEAKER_09I mean, it sounds like there's it was their way out, bro. I mean, there's how you hurt your arm doing a stunt as Kratos, he's basically he's that's the universe telling him you ain't worthy, bro. You ain't worthy to be willing a Leviathan axe, bro. You're doing basic shit. How do you tear something that that you're meant to do regularly? I don't know. Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me. I mean the fact that they're they're scrapping from the jump, I hope they that means they have another chance to get it right. Sucks we won't be able to see it sooner, I guess, unless they manage to like speed run the rest of the shit. Like, I don't know. I can't wait to hear who they recast, basically, or who they bring back, or who they bring up anyway.
SPEAKER_05I and uh you what was your thoughts? I mean, looking back at it now and having the picture in front of you, what did you think about the like the Ryan Hearst, you know, seeing that coming into fruition after this picture? I mean, what was that like something you were striving for, or were you kind of on it on the boat with everybody else where it was like, oh fuck, what is this? Who is this?
SPEAKER_09I mean, I guess I was indifferent, you know what I mean? Like, oh yeah, this thing could totally be a shit show, but if I really care, I guess I just play the game, you know what I mean? You know, that's not great. I was gonna turn to Christopher Judge, you know what I mean? Like, that's kind of how I felt about everything. Where I was like, you know what, maybe this could be something, but I need a trailer, but and it just feels too too much, but yeah, that's that's kind of how I feel about this.
SPEAKER_05It kind of is a little reminiscent of the whole Last of Us Fiasco, too, right? Where like Ellie didn't look like Ellie, right? You have Pedro Pascal, and a lot of people, you know. I I mean, I kind of like the first season. I didn't I wasn't really fucking with the second season. I'm not sure if you're a big fan, uh, you'll let us know right now. But it's kind of like something like that, right? Where like if it doesn't look the same, you I feel like you for you at least, it's easier for you to be like, oh, this is completely different. This is not the same as that. Where like for me, I if he don't look like Kratos, and that'll that sure as hell don't look like a traitus. Uh to me, that don't look like a trayus to me. Uh, I think they should probably both be regassed, to be honest.
SPEAKER_09I mean, it's funny you say that, dude, because I I was just talking to CJ about it um a couple days ago, and I was like, I should probably get around to watching season two now that I finally played the game, but I feel like I'd be doing a massive disservice to myself if I did. You know what I mean? Like I wouldn't be able to sit through all that stuff. Or, I mean, I know you don't like Pedro Pascal, so maybe you enjoyed that scene of him getting shit bashed in, but I don't know if I could sit there and see that like a sick man I was.
SPEAKER_05I was I was like, you know, get his ass! Get him again, actually. Can you can you pass me the bat rope? Passes it to the TV. Um, and that's a big milestone, too, by the way. So if y'all have been listening for a while, back in 2023, I think we've been kind of talking about this where Josh needed to play the Last of Us games because that's when like the first season was being released, and he was like, I'll get around to it, Josh. Well, we're here we are in 2026. He finally got like one of those PlayStation Awards, you got an award for for actually it's platinum, it's a good one, it's not one of those weak bronze ones, you know what I mean? It's a good platinum, good milestone to hit. But yeah, I mean, but am I right though? Are you able to make the little differentiation, or are you just like, man, I'm probably never gonna play uh the season two of The Last of Us, at least on on uh HBO Max, because this is never gonna be the same thing.
SPEAKER_09Basically, I think that's kind of how I feel.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I I know I should. Cradles would have been the same thing, because hell yeah, no, no, you would have not you would have not been able to sit through a fucking season of this.
SPEAKER_09Dude, not if like I mean, if everything was like just as bad as this casting, I probably would have been like, okay. You know what I mean? But like, they casted these two, and I don't think we heard anything about like a baller. We didn't hear anything about an Odin. I think we only heard that they were Mamir was playing Mamir, the dude from the game was basically playing it it again. Like stuff, yeah.
SPEAKER_05We there was like a boulder and everything like that, but we didn't really talk about it because I personally did not think the show was gonna move forward. I I literally I was like, okay, they they hired these two, they're hiring everybody else, but can they actually make a show where they're gonna like bring it all together into an actual thing? So they did get Odin. They I know they got Boulder. Um I think they got Thor for some reason. They they casted for Thor. So I mean, I was for me, and I was just like, it's so non-important because I didn't I didn't think it was gonna I didn't think it was gonna get this far. And it did, and you know, now they're recasting.
SPEAKER_09I don't know, I don't know. They're recasting in the worst way possible, too. Like this guy probably could have prevented whatever injury he got, but he probably went to throw the axe or something and it just ripped his shit off. I don't know. It sucks to suck, but I mean that just means we're gonna have to wait for whatever's to come. That's basically it.
SPEAKER_05I mean yeah, yeah. I mean, hopefully we get somebody better. And I hope that they recast Atreus too, cuz at least for me. Leave the boy alone. I'm gonna bully that boy. I'm bullying that boy.
SPEAKER_09This is crazy because I can see everybody, okay. Maybe not the boy from the game, because he's way older now, but like I could see their everybody else still playing the virgins and counterparts. The boy and Christopher Judge are like the only ones that I feel like are aged out. But the Deborah and Wollen on them can still play it. Like, I don't I don't understand.
SPEAKER_05That is true. They should totally just pull uh pull uh they should pull um a rise of the silver surfer and just get a bodybuilder who can act with his body, I guess, and just basically dub over the voice of like Christopher Judge on the person and call it a day.
SPEAKER_09Be pretty precise, but even that I don't think it's a huge thing.
SPEAKER_05I mean nobody knew nobody knew, or I mean people shouldn't have known, but nobody knew that Lawrence Fishburn voice, you know, Silver Surfer, and that was a totally different person. So I mean it can happen. It can happen.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I don't know. Putting too much faith in Amazon at that point. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they're actually getting sued as we speak, too, is crazy by Warner Brothers. Apparently they're hiring apparently they're hiring employees and stuff that were in the entertainment business, and they're like, uh-uh, y'all gonna get all our secrets. So crazy, but yeah, God of War is getting recasted. Ryan Hearst is not gonna be returning. Um apparently he went through all this workout and prep time for nothing. Uh, and either which way all the workouts and everything did not work out because he still got hurt, so it's like got in the worst way, too. Bicep. Um, but yeah, let us know what you guys think. God of War is being recasted. Uh, who do you guys think should be casted in this role? And I mean, should Atreus be recasted as well? Let us know what you guys think. Well, we're moving on. We're moving on. Josh Matt Damon uh coming out talking about Jason Bourne. So we did talk about this a couple weeks ago. Uh, the in Snyder, uh, Jeff Snyder, we talk about him a lot. He has scoops, they're pretty good. Uh, shout out to him. But, you know, he did say that they were looking into making a new Jason Bourne movie, but with Zendaya being kind of like the lead actress for this one, and what I was believing gonna be just a you know, gender swap Jason Bourne movie, right? Um, no, Matt Damon came out and basically said they are actively looking into making a Jason Bourne movie. And with that being in mind, with also Zendaya possibly being in mind, do you think that this is gonna be a passing of the torch? Is this gonna be a you know, that mantle, you know, oh, you know, metaphorical shield given to Zendaya, and you know, we're supposed to all just root for that, or I I mean, if it was up to me, I would assume we just get new characters, maybe new, not you know, maybe somebody who knew Jason Bourne, you know, is there only one elite person? It's it's kind of weird.
SPEAKER_09I would say scrap the whole thing. I would say, like, I don't know if we need another Jason Bourne movie, dude. I mean, these are these are as like dad movies as they get, man. Like this one, I'm sure the Jack, the Jack Ryan or Jack Reacher one with Tom Cruise dead, like all those feel like that dad movies. So I don't know if we need more of those in this day and age.
SPEAKER_05I think well, there's always gonna be dads, first of all. So we do need dad movies. There is a market out there for dads, you know.
SPEAKER_09But no dad is gonna want to see their Matt Damon become a girl. That's the problem.
SPEAKER_05See, and that's the there you go, that's the meat and potatoes. Because, you know, passing the mantle, it's what the MCU basically has been doing with the shield and what you know uh Indiana Jones is to whatever the fuck that last movie was. Like this whole passing the mantle thing is gonna be death for this movie. Because if it is a dad movie, then yeah, you're 100% right. It's not gonna land well with a lot of dads that you know Zendaya's basically picking up the mantle and nothing against Zendaya. I think she's a nice person or whatever. I personally don't think that she has a lot of range. So I personally do not want to sit through a board movie with Zendaya front and center.
SPEAKER_09We I'ma I'ma choose to ignore that. I'm gonna we we ain't gonna acknowledge that. We're not gonna sit here and act like Zendaya don't got hit like that. That's crazy. That's crazy moving on. I don't think she can do action like fucking red damage or any of these movies could. I can say that much, but I disagree. Like that's a goddamn.
SPEAKER_05I don't think she was in the doom movies, shouldn't she be like, shouldn't she be like she wasn't moving like that though?
SPEAKER_09She was she's a great actress, but she wasn't moving like that.
SPEAKER_01She was a great actress. I mean, she's alright, bro.
SPEAKER_05I don't I don't know what you I don't understand where because I'm trying to think like where did she give us a drop dead performance? Like tell me right now, where is a performance that that even that even gives you an inkling to want to defend her right now? Like, what is a good performance? Okay, undercover. You just brought up Dune. What are you talking about? What pro give me a scene? Give me a scene where she knocks it out the park.
SPEAKER_09That whole scene where where she in Dune 2, okay? The whole scene where um Timothy Salmon's character is basically betraying their love and all that stuff, and you can like feel the heartbreak and all that. She does great there. She does great euphoria. She like, I don't understand. I don't I don't know. I don't know what you're saying. I don't know what you're trying to insinuate, but this is crazy. That's crazy. I don't know. The drama I heard was really good for her. I mean, she's ending one. No, I want to. I'm waiting for it to end up on her. Slander, slander is crazy.
SPEAKER_01Somebody said Zendaya's acting range is incredible.
SPEAKER_09Those are just pictures of her. Those are just stills. You can do that to any actor. He will do this to Henry Cavill just to discount him. This is crazy.
SPEAKER_05But this is multiple movies. This isn't one movie. I understand the Henry Cavill thing, but I even I Googled it, and the first thing that comes up is um back it up, back it up, back it up. Oh. Zendaya's acting range is subject to active debate, with opinions divided between her raw emotional vulnerability and dramatic roles and criticism that she relies on the similar, subdued, deadpan persona across multiple projects. Yeah, that's basically what I think. I believe that she just basically plays the rock. She just I mean in a different way. She just always fucking sad all the time. Are we gonna get a sad Jason Bourne? And that was on Google.
SPEAKER_09I I just Googled her acting range, and that was that was yes, because you can say it's divided for shit like this, but it that's not all she does. Her resting face is like deadpan, but when it's time to emote and cry and all do all that stuff and deliver, she does. I that's crazy. I I disagree.
SPEAKER_05I swear I'm trying to think of a like a good scene with Zendaya where like she just knocks out the park, and I'm just like, I can think about that for like I even got a scene with Tom Holland. That whole scene, like in No Way Home. I like the scene in Spider-Man Far From Home too when like he's going up against Mysterio. Like there's there's so much like acting range in certain people, and I just feel like Zendaya just doesn't have a a scene like that. I didn't really hear much about that movie either with Robert Pennington. I heard it was good okay.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but she delivers in Dune. She does I mean I don't even I didn't even see that other one, uh Challengers. I I can't say it. I don't know. I haven't seen that one. But the ending scene of In No Way Home when like when she's saying bye and all this stuff and and she's crying, and he's like and Tom Holland's like, and she's like, You better come find me and all that stuff. That that wasn't moving to you.
SPEAKER_05That wasn't no that wasn't that was mostly Holland.
SPEAKER_09Oh my gosh. That was all on him. I am not looking forward to our honesty review.
SPEAKER_05We we had a we had a better we had a better acting like range from Emma Stone in TASM 2. We have better acting range. I personally don't like Kristen Dunce either. We personally got a better performance from Kristen Dunce back in whenever the Spider-Man trilogy was happening. That was better, yeah. I personally don't like her because I feel like she's kind of in the same boat with like kind of with Zendaya, where she doesn't really have much acting range, but like I I enjoyed her in those movies. Zendaya in these movies, same thing as like she is in Euphoria, and you know, I I was hoping she was gonna be better in Dune, but you know, she's I mean she's a little bit better. I mean, Dennis likes something about her, maybe the fact that she's just like she seems like she should just I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I'm trying to figure out why he picked her specifically. I don't know if this was like a Tom Holland, like you know, helping her out or something, passed on a good word. I I don't know what happened.
SPEAKER_09What? Bro, I'm not no. Okay. You know what? We no. No. This is crazy. I I don't know what to do with excuse him.
SPEAKER_05Excuse my brother. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe maybe put her in Dune 3, Dennis, and I give you uh unlimited packs of Barrow forever.
SPEAKER_09She's gonna be in Dune 3. That's what I'm saying. No, dude. No, wait, okay. Well, those movies came out before you started Barrow. But two, this is crazy. This is crazy. Christopher Nolan went out of his way to bring her on for the Odyssey for her chops, bro. You are not gonna fight against the game.
SPEAKER_05I can't wait to see that movie and just see her like this the whole time.
SPEAKER_09Nah man, that's crazy. I mean, if we're talking Spider-Man like lineups, I do agree that Mark Webb and probably Sam Raimi brought out better performances in them because John Watts fucking sucks, but even then, I gotta admit, the ending scene kinda the ending scene doesn't redeem all of it, but it does show that they have chops and it was just John Watts fucking everybody over for three movies straight.
SPEAKER_05Well, yeah, I mean even no no doubt. I mean, I still like the far the what is it? The homecoming trilogy. The homecoming trilogy, whatever, the home trilogy. I still like them, but yeah, John Watts, like considering what we're getting with with uh Dustin Daniel Creighton is kind of like dog, but either which way we're kind of going off track a little bit here, but you know, I like I said, we can get somebody better than Zendaya. Hopefully, we do get somebody better than Zendaya on my end. But I mean, if Josh, if you were gonna watch this new Jason Bourne film, I don't even know if you would because it's a dad film to you. Uh, but if you did, would you appreciate Zendaya? Or I mean, wait, you haven't seen any of these movies. I have not seen any of these movies. These movies should have gone out of style already. Well, yeah, back in 2016, but you know, we're in the era where we just pull people back for from a long time ago.
SPEAKER_09Like, this is the thing, bro, because you could talk he could do something else, he could totally move forward. He could he doesn't need to do this, he doesn't have no one's asking for another Jason Born film, unfortunately. Like, that's just where we're at. I was like, uh society, and um, I think you should just do something. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so you're gonna come at me for over here saying something about Zendaya, but you're gonna over here just say outright like like these born movies weren't the shit back in the day and probably are not still the shit till this day.
SPEAKER_09Okay, yes, because I well I can agree that they were probably something at the time. We have movies that have dove into other action pieces and sets that have probably outmatched these movies already.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_05This guy's gonna he's a he wants to go bar for bar with John Wick. I look, man. Extraction? We're not gonna bro, we're not gonna act like the game hasn't elevated. Check my checkmate E1.
SPEAKER_09We ain't gonna act like the game hasn't elevated since 2000s, you know. 2016 was the last one. Well 2016, but like all of them, diehard has been probably had their same movie around that time, the last movie. Fucking Mission Impossible kept going, but that's because of Tom Cruise. If the if the people behind them and himself weren't pushing the shit forward, they probably would have ended up in the sidelines too. Like that's like that's because we've gotten better shit by now.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but like I said, we're in that era where you gotta bring them back and give the mantle up.
SPEAKER_09I would say like I my idea for like James Bond, just do it like that. Just give him a fucking code name, make Jason Bourne a code name for whoever your next person is, and just treat them like that. That's kind of how I feel. Like, I think they should do that with James Bond too. Like, okay, do however movie you want with whoever, and then when they pass the mantle on, it's just someone else getting the code name. Like that's how I feel about doing everything. I think if you give it to a woman, you alienate the dads because they're not gonna want to see this. And yeah. I mean you might bring in new eyes to the franchise, sure. But Jason, you slap Jason Bourne on there, you're you're kind of alienating your people at that point.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean it's got look we talked about this before, but it's kind of like what the MCU did. I mean, just passing the mantle to you know to whoever doesn't make them the next runner up or anything. We want to wanna fall in love with the characters, yeah. That I mean, using them as a code name, I never really thought about that, but I would just say make new stories. I mean, they don't have to be, they they can all have their own struggles, they don't have to be like the same people, and like the thing is is that even when they use the same code names and like kind of like the James Bond movies, like is a good example, it's kind of like they try to do tropes that match to the old one to be like, oh yeah, this is like a James Bond thing, you know what I mean, and blah blah blah. But like if you give them a whole new character where you can build a whole new flair off of you, it'll probably do a it obviously in the beginning it's gonna be kind of rough because you gotta get people invested into to doing into actually like caring about that character, but I mean isn't that what they're in the business for? So might as well just do it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I mean at that point, yeah, but like I I don't know, dude. Uh they're this is too much. I think Matt Damon needs to do something else at this point. You gotta move forward. He has to do something else.
SPEAKER_05Like I said, uh it's always that thing where it's like you bring them back, they're already old.
SPEAKER_09They're not moving like that.
SPEAKER_05No, no, unless you're Baba Ordenkirk. Uh, but let us know what you guys think. Matt Damon is possibly returning, maybe a Zendaya passing the mantle from Matt Damon to Zendaya, maybe somebody else, maybe you know, maybe this is just all rumors and it's all into a grain of salt, and uh we say no more Jason Bourne movies because we've I think we passed that era. I I think agree I agree with Josh, we kind of passed that era, but it'd be nice to see another Jason Bourne movie. I don't think I don't think it'll do well, but it'd be nice.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, man. I guess we can just leave it there.
SPEAKER_05All right. Moving on, Josh. Paramount Sky Dance, though, is having a little bit of an issue, but not really as well. So Paramount Skydance is agreeing to halt the merger due to uh a judge keep continuing to put um temporary pauses on said merger until they can uh conclude with the antitrust trial that they are going to be uh starting up here pretty soon. Now, I mean we talked about this a little bit in our previous one, so I kind of want to hit this and kind of keep moving. But Paramount is was trying to close that Warner Brothers deal as soon as possible. They were trying to close it by June, hopefully by August, and they would have been uh continuing uh making movies. But because of the state saying, hey, there's gonna be um some foul play, uh some of the things that we talked about in the beginning where, you know, he's gonna talk to Trump to help, you know, so hopefully Trump, our President Trump, would be uh a little bit more helpful and grease the wheels a little bit, right? Um and so they clocked it all. The states clocked all of that and decided to sue and try to put a stop to this. Uh, does this mean it's done? No, but they have until June of 2027 to keep this trial going. Um, if by June rolls around and there's no verdict, it automatically can continue and commence and uh hopefully close by then. But if the trial goes on and they can prove without any doubt that there's nothing, there's no foul play, there's nothing gonna go wrong, it does not hurt the the bottom line when it comes to jobs and whatnot, um then they can move on sooner. But until then, we gotta wait until June. Uh so you know it in a way it's it kind of gums up the works, but you know, usually these kinds of uh usually these kinds of mergers, especially like if you saw with Disney with 20th Century Fox, it usually takes about a year and a half to two years to do this anyway. So uh, you know, it's always gonna be that whole I don't like this whole politic thing, so we're not gonna go too crazy into it, but you know, the this side, that side. If a judge from this side gets it and wants to help get it through a little bit faster, it's probably gonna be done a little bit quicker. But if the judge on this side gets it, it's probably gonna be a little bit slower and possibly never happen at all. So I mean, it just depends on when it comes down to those uh points. But Josh, I mean obviously you I know that you're kind of hoping that Paramount inhales Warner Brothers and completely dismantles DC Studios and helps move us forward when it comes down to you know that side and everything. But obviously, we both had our concerns, especially when all this news was coming up with Paramount Skydance and what basically was gonna happen with the Ellisons and Trump and you know everything that was basically going down with that. Now that they're actually getting sued and we're in the middle of a trial, and we're just kind of like, oh well, the things that they were afraid of are actually possibly could be happening. Um, I mean, are you kind of hoping that this merger kind of falls apart? Are you hoping it closes a little bit sooner? I mean, what are we seeing from your side?
SPEAKER_09I mean, I would I would hope they want something sooner because with midterms along the way, they could totally smack the shit out of this deal. You know what I mean? And like that would be kind of bad for everybody. But um I feel indifferent. If they think they can wait it out and show that there was no kind of like um interference and this is all kind of just casual and everything, and you know, Netflix really did kind of just lose to money and or future money, whatever. Um that's just the way it's gonna have to be.
SPEAKER_05But I mean nipple baby money.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, like that's basically it. If he really forced his way through and was able to get it all done and he's just like, alright, check what you need to check, my books are clean, whatever. And they can last until next year, sure. But the moment they find out foul play, or they better hurry up and find out there was foul play before November. Uh because because yeah, if they don't slide that to a Republican uh judge, they they might they might be screwed. You know what I mean? Are we because this this whole thing started by California? So if they were like, hey man, we we vote blue around this house, then they just go slot the fuck out of the deal.
SPEAKER_05What if we get like a Trump interference again, him helping grease the wheels with the judges?
SPEAKER_09That's also interference, the kind of interference that they're searching for right now. So I mean that would be kind of hard to do.
SPEAKER_05It'd be two on the nose, but I mean if it's behind the scenes, it's behind the scenes, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but that kind of thing would come to light. I mean that they would figure that out, and uh the judge, the Supreme Court would have to itself would be like, This is ridiculous. The president can't ha can't interfere with this kind of stuff or whatever.
SPEAKER_05Right, and especially if they hate him too. So it's kind of between a hot rock and a hard place, but I'm hoping that everything goes through sooner than later. We get to that point where we need to be, and you just basically rocket your off of this, you know, whole merger stuff because you know we're supposed to be getting 30 movies a year. Paramount. It doesn't seem like you're holding your end of the bargain as of right now. So fix your damn app. Jesus fuck, man.
SPEAKER_09I swear, bro, I'm trying to watch that fucking movie, and my shit kept like having to load and like knowing I got good internet connections fustering.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, dude. It makes you want to rip your hair out.
SPEAKER_09I tried to try to put on subtitles, and that motherfucker was taking ages to let that shit happen. So you know fix this fucking app, bro.
SPEAKER_05Every time I have to go on that app, I always try to. I'm just like, damn, is that movie really on Paramount Plus? I gotta like Google it and shit before I actually want to commit to getting on their damn app. Fix your app. Skydance Jesus. Um, let us know what you guys think, though. What do you guys think of the merger? Are you hoping that it kind of falls through? Or are you are you guys hoping that it kind of closes sooner? I mean, what side are you guys on? Hopefully this doesn't get political. Moving on though, Josh, Scream 8. I know you're excited for a new Scream film. Uh, you gotta be audible about that, Josh. You gotta be audible about what you're doing right now. What are you doing? What are you doing? Was that a yes? Are you you're super excited? No, no, no, no, no. Super excited.
SPEAKER_09Hey I don't know. Boo, tomato, tomato, tomato.
SPEAKER_05Tomato, tomato. Uh, so obviously, we know that scream five was a massive success, which basically like kicked off a slew of like paramount just saying, hey, every year we can make a movie and we're just gonna put it uh put it out. Unfortunately, when Scream 6 rolled around, uh oh, actually, fortunately, what that one was really good as well. So they greenlit a movie immediately. But then Sack Strike happened, Melissa Barrera drama, we got General Ortega not returning, basically caused the movie to uh still fit that that window that they wanted to for Scream 7, but they had a pivot, they had to change directors because the director left, so they had to go back to Neve Campbell, pay some money, and basically get her back into the door. Uh with Scream 7 coming out, even though Neve Campbell and they basically pivoted away from Neve Campbell returned and they pivoted pivoted away from everything that happened with Scream 5 and 6. Uh it was still a massive success. I'm assuming that the coattails of what happened with 5 and 6 basically wrote they basically wrote on that. Um, but everybody who walked out already found out, hey, I mean, this movie was not the best movie. Um, so Scream 8 has some rumors, and we're gonna talk about those rumors right now. So breaking news, Scream 8 officially begins filming this fall with Ghostway set to return for another bloody chapter. Following the record breaking success of Scream 7, Spyglass has fast-tracked the sequel. Lilla and Nora Zuckerman will be writing the script uh that the franchise will continue to build on. Plot details remain under wrap. Speculation points towards Sydney Prescott's story continuing alongside the next generation after the events of the previous film, with Ghostface far from finished. With production starting this fall, we wait for the next scream. Um, it the wait for the next scream is officially on, and horror fans are you guys should be ready for another scream movie, apparently. Uh, but yeah, so they're gonna be doing this whole next generation thing. Uh apparently Sydney Prescott is still gonna be uh returning. They're gonna have to beg again. Uh, I know that Kevin Williamson is not gonna return or direct this film because he basically said, Hey, I'm not writing nor directing Scream 8 after Scream 7 was released. Um and apparently some behind-the-scenes drama where like Neve Campbell decided to unfollow Kevin Williamson recently. So I'm not too sure what that's about, but for the most part, Josh, what are we thinking about the plot details about Scream 8? Uh getting this whole next generation after we basically moved on from what the next generation was supposed to be. Um are you excited for Scream 8 yet again? Is the question.
SPEAKER_09I would no. No, no, no, I would say keep it. Um this Francis could benefit from like the smile treatment, where like just kill off the batch of people, maybe the next one leads into the next one, and then kill that person off the first attachment we get, and then boom, we haunch another person with ghost face, whatever. This whole like oh Neem, you fucking I'm your dead cousin's brother, sister. Like like who cares?
SPEAKER_05We got so much to the bottom of the barrel we're talking about, I'm your neighbor.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, like we're so done, bro. We're like, I don't need another one. I think I'm cool off the screen. I think I think one through six is my bread and butter, and then like we're done. I I think even then, I think the way they ended six was probably a great way to end the franchise, and seven just doesn't have to be mentioned, like I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. Seven wounded me pretty bad. I can't, it's hard to defend that one for sure. Uh, but you know, as a scream fan, for me, I gotta give I gotta give a little defense here because I don't want you to check out a scream. I was super excited with five and six, okay? I was super excited when you were invested. Uh, because you know, you you've kind of not been on the level with me with Scream. So when Five and Six came out, I was like, okay, okay, we got somewhere. So you just gotta write a little bit, okay? I know like the first one, obviously it's classic. You like that one. Two and three lost your attention. I get that, not for me though. I'll defend those. Don't argue with me. But four got you back, five got you back, six. So that's a two bads and a three P back-to-back bangers. That's that should be like that should be hey, that should be like, hey, give eight a chance, you know what I'm saying? Maybe there's another banger in the mist.
SPEAKER_09Nah man, I uh no I I think they've run their course, but I think this is uh never like it's gonna do well as a tour. And like that's a in short supply as is, but like this franchise has to get a better idea be more innovative, something position working for it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like uh okay, I will give you, like I said, Scream 7 basically wounded me, so it's kind of like uh I personally I wouldn't have said bring Nick back. Like if you got the little bit of cast members that were able to make it, you know, back, like the the twins and you know, um who was the other one? It was the twins and somebody else. They basically returned, so it was like if they could return, why didn't you guys just build off that and then hopefully Melissa Barrera and Jennifer Ortega could come back later, but you could have you know kind of branched off the two of them and been like okay and moved on from somewhere like it naturally progressed. I felt like that Neam Campbell coming back was kind of like a uh you know a recession, like you just you went backwards.
SPEAKER_09Exactly. And that's kind of how I feel. Like they they did not need to bring her back. I is I don't believe that she's worth the bag. Teasing um uh Matthew Lillard's character worth the bag, bringing back people with AI isn't worth the bag. This whole movie, like when you sound it out and when you kind of tear it apart, it kind of it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like a crackpipe dream.
SPEAKER_05Believe me, when we did our review, it's out right now. It did sound that way. 100%.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, no, this is fucking like they were on the room scrambling, they're like, we lost our leads. What are we gonna do? Oh, let's bring back Neve, uh throw a fat bag at her. Uh let's bring back everybody else, only as a cameo. Let's bring back an unfunny comedian in the beginning to get killed for no reason. Let's have no ties to Matthew Lidd's character except for name uh and Matthew Lillard, of course, to throw it back at him. And then let's make the killers her neighbor. Like, what the fuck? Like I'm sorry, no. Yeah, I don't think we need another one.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no, unless you're gonna bring back General Ortega and them, like bring back General Ortega, Melissa Barrera, and you know what? I would have said bring back Nave Campbell for one last hurrah, but she's already over. I in my opinion, she's over she's been here for way too long.
SPEAKER_09Dude, they should have they if seven, like if they killed her in seven and then it was her daughter, I could have seen that. I would have been like, okay, maybe we were on the right track. We're they're trying to do something with this franchise. I could see the dream. But no, they they just everybody came out safe. The dad came out safe after being fucking stabbed. The twins keep coming out safe after being stabbed. If you're a main character, you could just survive that shit. That's crazy. That would happen to Dewey if that's the case. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_05That's what I'm saying. I mean my thing is that Neve should have probably bit the dust a long time ago. There's like, there's no way you just fucking dodge death so many times. Like one of these times, you gotta get clipped. You know what I'm saying? And yeah, no, they just chose not to do that.
SPEAKER_09Natural progression, bro. I think I yeah, she should have died. Maybe not in four, just because I like the way that one ends, like satisfyingly. But like five, six, six probably should have been it. And then you know, we follow the whole storyline of Melissa Beta's character becoming ghostface essentially because of her dad. Like it was a stretch to be like, oh, we probably had someone else before Sydney. And like, but the movies kind of made like made it work, and they kind of put you in the world where like, okay, maybe if this did happen, it wouldn't turn out like this. And then they just said, Oh, your politics scare us. And then you're like, You got it, bro. And like, yeah, they I don't I don't think anyone should be cut for their politics and all that stuff, especially if it's like not during work hours, but like, come on, not during work hours.
SPEAKER_05She didn't do it on company pooping time. What are you doing? Um, but yeah, I I personally, I mean, I they should have just yeah, I agree with you 100%. They hot take, they should have gone down the route where like what they did with Halloween Resurrection, because I personally enjoyed that thing where they basically killed off Jamie Lee Curtis in the beginning of the movie, but like kind of made it make sense that why Michael was still alive from H2O. So I mean, if they would have done something like that with Neve Campbell, we would I would have probably been satisfied with that too. But at this point, I think we just gotta move on.
SPEAKER_09Resurrection.
SPEAKER_05Is that not a hot take?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's a hot take. It is the whole movie is a hot take.
SPEAKER_05I enjoy it. I enjoy it.
SPEAKER_09I love Buster Ripe so much.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, right. Like him karate chopping Michael Myers. That's amazing, dude. That's great. That's like cinema. But I like I said, yeah, I that has to be like the best way, but I know some people didn't like it. Maybe it was just a little too soon in the movie. But yeah. But let us know what you guys think about Scream 8. Um, it is gonna be it might be coming out in 2027 for sure. Um, these movies do not take long to make, they're pretty cheap, and the fact that they'd be making money for Paramount, they're gonna keep green lighting these as long as it makes more than what I believe is like 200 mil. So, I mean, as long as they is that money keeps coming in, but we need to stop throwing a big bag at Neve Campbell. Like, like we I'm I was happy they stood their ground where she was like, we need more money because it always gets to a point, right? But like Doomsday is kind of going through this situation too where like the actors get too big and then the studio has to shell out so much cash in order to make them come back. It's like you I mean, I understand you gotta get your money, but do it for the love of the game as well. And it kind of shows in your work as well. So Scream 7 was kind of a dud because of Neve Gamble, and I gotta say that. But moving on, moving on, Josh. Avengers secret wars may potentially be a continuation, but not a full-on reboot, according to Kevin Fachy. This has been a topic of discussion for a long time for us people, at least following Marvel. A lot of people thought after Endgame there was gonna be a full-on reboot, but when it turned out, well, actually, not really. And then on top of that, no X-Men. A lot it turned a lot of people off, and we're like, oh shoot, what's gonna basically happen next? Uh, where Marvel's been struggling to find its footing, it's finally coming around to Doomsday, and then eventually we're gonna get to Secret Wars. So when Secret Wars comes out, what's gonna happen after that? Are we gonna get that reboot? According to Kevin Vacy, when he went to Happy Sad Confused podcast, he uh basically denies a full reboot still. Uh saying that, particularly in you know, uh Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars, uh, that that's a good roadmap for what's to come within Marvel. Saying that uh it will be established a streamlined, simplified, single universe that we can keep up with. Uh, some things will be familiar, but many, many things will be entirely new. Uh uh basically steering clear from the word reboot. Uh, he says that reboot is a scary word. Um, and just looking, basically looking at the Secret Wars comic book, that he kind of has an idea of what to actually do this time. So, I mean, like I said, this has been a topic for us, Josh. Uh, I personally, you know, want to reboot, but we're kind of getting to the point where, you know, brand new day, there's this whole theory that Sadie Sink is Gene Gray. We're possibly gonna get her moved all the way into the next phase, and you know, the the X-Men might be coming down the line as well. Some of them might be different. Um, I know that the rumor of uh Ryan Kugler as well being able to cast Storm for that film and possibly have her in X-Men and all that stuff is also a possibility and a rumor as well. So take that with a grain of salt, everybody. But I mean, Josh, are are we ready for a reboot at this point, or are you okay with Secret Wars continuing with some things being different and some things being you know new? Obviously, the actor wise.
SPEAKER_09I mean, I'm I do if someone like follows the comics and stuff, I would say this is a nice little like it could be a soft launch reboot, and like some people can stay and some people can go. Like, I and like I don't have a problem with that. Keeping projects, keeping certain projects alive post-secret wars though, has to be a might be a problem because then you gotta be like, oh whoa, is this before the reboot? Is this happening after? Why is it taking so long to come out? Regardless, like Vision quests is supposed to be coming out before Secret Wars or sometime this year. I don't know. You don't know either, and like that's the problem. And like we still have Daredevil happening, they just wrap season three, and we still like I think that's the only couple of stuff before Secret Wars because I don't think they've announced anything else outside of like X197. But like yeah, man, that's kind of that's the scary part because you got people barely in their tenure and you have to low key drag them along and then and that'll just muck up stuff because it's like, oh well, where did this happen? Where were they during all this? You know what I mean? Right.
SPEAKER_05I well that's one thing too. I'm kind of over this whole multiverse thing, so hopefully we get to that point. Um, but it's always gonna be that thing where it's like well, okay. Did in the comics, okay, with this whole Iron Heart, you know, Iron Man to Ironheart and all that stuff. Um was that is is that really like a big hit in the comic world? Out of curiosity. No, not like Ironheart herself, but you know how like you do like there's Iron Lad, right? There's Ironheart as well, and then there's Iron Man, right? Iron Man obviously sells the best, but these spin-offs are meant to basically feel Iron Lad is meant to be for like you know the young Avengers, right? And Ironheart's supposed to be another, like basically a spin-off, but you know, some people were like, oh, that those are that's not me saying it. This is the internet that apparently Ironheart's like a DEI kind of iron, but you know, they got to a point with the comics where they basically started doing more, you know, uh, what is it, like LGBT stuff and everything like that. So, like, I know there's different iterations, but like those weren't really popular, right? And I feel like that's the way Marvel kind of went down that that street where they went for these comic, these comics that basically people did not read, and that's probably a fact, but because people did not care for those people. What people care about is like Iron Man, Captain, Captain America, all the older characters who basically have these, you know, a bunch of arcs that range from you know all the way from the I believe the 70s, all the way to like the early 2000s or something like that. So before they had to start switching it up and giving all these extra stuff down the road and all that.
SPEAKER_09So some of them did well than others, and like that's kind of where the renaissance happened around like 2015-ish. Like MCU's late to the game with Ironheart, but like that's where Jane Foster came from, that's where Ironheart came from, whatever. And I mean, that's the thing. When a comic doesn't sell well after taking the Jurassic Step Road, they bring people back. Tony died, Ironheart came about, and then they brought him back.
SPEAKER_05Oh, in the comics, oh okay, yeah, because they they weren't fans, right? So they had to bring him back.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so instinctually that can happen again, you know what I mean? And like if they know certain characters aren't selling well in the MCU, they could do them in right now, and then just be like, You got your project, it didn't happen. You you couldn't sell the you couldn't move the needle, bro. We're sorry.
SPEAKER_05So they're gonna be moving like a comic book and just write them out. They got blown up and now Iron Man with their essence and their spirit, Iron Man's back.
SPEAKER_09Right? Right. They and like they could recast Iron Man, they can recast Steve, whatever they you can literally get everybody back, and like does that suck for certain characters? Sure. Because Sam Wilson didn't get a second movie, even though his first movie should have came out way after Endgame. They they can they'll get Natasha, or they can keep Black Widow, I mean Black Widow, they can keep Elena if they really have a fan favor in her because again, her tenure just started. All the Thunderbolts people just had their tenure start. Moon Knight still hasn't gotten a second season, so you can chop his ass right now, and like no one would batten not, you know what I mean? Daredevil, you kinda have to carry him because people people are fans of him. The Marvels, it sounds from the from what I heard, a certain Marvel won't be coming back from the X-Men universe.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_09Like, I don't know if you heard about that. Apparently, her and her mother die off screen. Crazy Photon and uh the mom. Oh. Did you hear that?
SPEAKER_05Didn't they didn't they get a chair?
SPEAKER_09I don't know. Maybe they die off screen, dude. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I swear they got a chair, too.
SPEAKER_09Maybe maybe they're like, oh shit, we got it, and then they don't got it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I didn't hear that, no, but that's that's interesting.
SPEAKER_09That's yeah, no, I that's the rumor I heard going around. But um Yeah, they're like they could totally just take a chance to cut the loose ends and do everything else all over again in like you know in different certain stuff.
SPEAKER_05Right. If they really wanted to I mean they could move like a comic book company and just basically do them in, get bring the certain people back, which I mean they're kind of doing with Iron Man, but not really because they're giving them a whole new character. I do believe in Secret Wars we'll probably see a variant of Tony Stark. So we'll see RDJ back in the suit, but it'll be kind of like you know, kind of weird. But I I feel like that's probably where we're heading up to. So uh, but yeah, I I kind of agree with you with most of your points. I I my thing is is that I just think a full reboot is probably uh the the valid place to go. Because exactly what you said, uh some people are gonna have to stay, some people aren't, and you know, if you're a fan of these people and they get cut and then the other ones stay, I know it's gonna cause a divide for a lot of people, right?
SPEAKER_09Um yeah, but like I mean I think that's the thing because it we're not moving like a DCU, right? For example, James Gunn handpicked these people and they're his friends, right? The MCU doesn't have friends. You have actors that you work well with and characters that people like, but same thing. If your character don't work, you get the chopping block. And like we just haven't seen them since, and like that's kind of how they move. They're like, oh, I think they should watch you, whatever.
SPEAKER_05I think every like I think they should possibly like just if they're gonna go full like comic book wise, this is what I was hoping they were gonna do after endgame, but like do shorter like do shorter sessions, right? Like just instead of giving us like fucking what waiting 10 plus years to see a payoff or whatever, why don't you just you know recast certain characters, have them within that world or whatever, and do like 10 movies that that will probably explain a storyline that's gonna basically expand for multiple years. And while they do that and finish that one up, they can work on another version of you know the Marvel universe or whatever, and basically give us another like 10 to 12 movies or whatever within that universe, and then you know, recast and everything. You get a different Logan, you get a different, you know, Avengers lineup, you get a different, you know, different everything every single time, you know what I mean? Just basically bringing up, and I mean if you want to do a comic book story arc or something that like verbatim, like some people actually want, you could possibly give it more breathing room if you do like five movies in its own, like uh what DC wanted to do, but probably it's not gonna happen. That whole what is it, um, the spin-off series, but then also have the main timeline or something like that. Like they're gonna all just have a bunch of you know, a bunch of different timelines with different, you know, obviously movies that connect, and obviously don't put out two different ones at the same time, make sure like you're done with this set, and then put it out, you know, call that I don't know, the Kang saga, and then you put this one out, boom, the Doctor Doom saga, and boom, boom, boom, like you know what I mean? Always have a big bad and just you can make make the payoffs a little bit shorter than all those years, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_09That's the thing, bro. Like, that sounds great, like on paper, and like I could probably get behind that idea. It's just okay. Kevin Feige is moving and he's trying to make things more coherent, right? So imagine the race that we're in where in 10 years this whole thing could totally not be liquidated, you know what I mean? He understands that. So when he and when he was talking a couple days ago about slate up until 2040, he's thinking hard, he's thinking long and hard, right? But are they gonna survive another 10 years? He doesn't even know. I think a reboot hurts more than anything else at this point, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_05I don't know. I because I mean we like I said, we saw the route of a continuation already. And it really land. That's not fair.
SPEAKER_09He had his hands in too many chips, bro.
SPEAKER_05That's that's no, but I mean I understand that too, but still, even either which way, even with like the ones that you could say that he possibly potentially gave more attention to, they weren't they weren't the best. They were okay at best, but nothing was like worth it. And I feel like if you actually put him to work and maybe, like I said, but if he wants to stick around or somebody else, it'll probably be, you know, what happens when he retires? You think if Marvel's gonna flourish this way? No, nobody can crack this fucking code. So it's better to kind of do it in shorts, you know, short little sprints than long hauls, so you can make sure that you can feed fans and then you know keep them coming back and give them new stories with different characters, you know what I mean? Like I said, like one universe there could be a different team uh team up with Black Panther, you know, or the original team up, kind of like the MCU now with Black Panther and everybody they have. And the next universe it could be like the X-Men is more prominent, you know what I mean? And the Avengers are coming up in the world or something, and it's like, oh, the X-Men have been around since you know uh the the since the atom bomb or whatever, you know what I mean? And they they've been kind of ruling the earth, and the Avengers have to come up and you know help them out or whatever, and blah blah blah. So it's like there's so many options to kind of go about. I don't know why they choose to stay stuck in this one timeline bubble. You can get people invested, but if people care about this character, they'll come for that character in different formats.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but separate threads, like I said, they tried that too. Separate threads kind of just they get too they get too long and they don't know how to be cohesive and stuff. I think they had it the right idea when they like first started and was like, okay, I give Iron Man a movie every two years, throw the Incredible Hulk in one time, throw in Captain America thorough team up movie. Like, there's no reason not to keep doing that with certain characters, you know what I mean? Like, we did that with the Avengers, and then okay, let's do let's get the West Coast Avengers in there, and then they do, I mean, yeah, but all that's gonna take another shot at Ironheart, they can, but like Ironheart, Ghostwriter, people like that, like they could try.
SPEAKER_05I just feel like it it eliminates a lot of stuff because I feel like that was all trial and error, and now that we kind of know what kind of makes the audience tick, like you don't have you can make an MCU timeline where there's you know more women on the roster and all that stuff and give us time to to love that and build it up. And let's say the the first two movies they don't that try to kick off that universe don't do good, they could scrap it and be like, okay, we're moving on to the next universe. You know what I'm saying? And like, I don't know, I just feel like you could do a lot more, um, especially with actors too, because you could always bring in a new set of actors every single universe, you know what I mean? Like, it doesn't have to be that same one for multiple ones, and then eventually you get to so many universes that you're able to do a crossover event again, and it becomes a big thing. And I do think that's like you were tired of the multiverse. Well, yeah, no, what I mean, like, kind of like what they're doing right now, where you have to figure out where this is at, where this is at, or whatever. But if you have one multiverse thing where like it's this universe you're focusing on, and there's a storyline throughout that whole one, like I said, you can even plan it out better because you could be like, okay, well, we're gonna need uh let's say we're gonna need one solo film for every single one, five of them, let's just say, and then we're gonna sprinkle out whoever we need, the X-Men, the Black Panther, whatever, blah blah blah. And the other five movies is gonna be about them teaming up and boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Basically having this 10-movie arc or 12, whatever they want to do, something that has a bigger uh uh less of a payoff than having to sit through what like 30 movies before we actually get that payoff, like something smaller, and then you can move on from that universe to the next one, hire a new cast, hire uh make sure who's gonna be there, whatever, and then yeah, eventually you get enough people. It'll be like the Power Rangers. You'll get you'll get a whole crossover event with natural actors, and they won't be there to be them, you know, demanding so much money to the point where you know they gotta cut scenes or they have to forcefully show their face because they they just are paying too much to have to do that.
SPEAKER_09I don't know, man. I don't know. I just feel like it helps it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. I I don't know. I kind of feel like it would help out a lot more than just stuffing new faces in there when there's supposed to be old faces. It worked with Don Cheadle back in the day, that was the beginning, but it's been kind of getting a little bit more noticeable, especially with like the lack of actors, like you have to reuse actors in the MCU, and it's been kind of happening more prominent now more than before, you know.
SPEAKER_09I don't know, man. I don't know. I don't know if we know the game like Kevin Feige does.
SPEAKER_05And probably not. That's what I'm saying. He's the only one who's been able to do it, but I mean, where when is the evolution gonna happen? When are we gonna change lanes and do something different and actually get go full reboot? Uh, but apparently it's scary for Kevin Feige. So let us know what you guys think. Avengers seek awards may not be the end of this universe. You might see some more. Uh, I don't know. What do you guys think? How do you think Kevin Fashy Kevin Fahy should move forward with uh a rebooted universe, a completely rebooted universe, or should he uh continue this universe with partially rebooted characters? Uh that it'd be interesting. It'd be interesting. I mean, I feel like you're eliminating a lot of options at that point if you do something like that. So let us know what you guys think. Moving on, though, some somebody that we gotta talk about over here. Uh, because they've been trying to make a lot of noise, but you know, where one person gets our full attention, the other people have to wait. Uh, and this week we basically had Doomsday's uh Doomsday had our attention for a good chunk of time this week. We were able to make a whole reaction video to that. Let us uh just go check that out and let us know what you guys think about that. But DC Studios has been kind of trying to ripple the waters a little bit on their end. Uh, I caught a little wind, so we'll talk about them just a little bit because we do have a couple trailers that we have to react to as well. First things first, apparently we are getting a new uh runner-up for DC Studios Batman, and that is supposed to be Mitchell Slenert. Sounds like a terrible name. I'm sorry, sir. Uh, but this is Michael Slengert. Uh he's he was casted in Landman. I don't, I've never seen that before. Uh, apparently, we're getting a lot of low non-actors for Batman. Maybe he wants to make a name out of this these people. Maybe, you know, instead of getting a big actor, like how you know uh Matt Reeves went for Robert Pattinson, he goes for a lesser name. I'm also thinking DC Studios is broke, so there's that as well. Uh, but you get a lesser name and you basically boost them up to stardom if the Batman character is um done right. But what do we think about this potential pick for a DCU Batman?
SPEAKER_09I mean, looks the part, I mean I thought the point is that he was gonna be older, but I mean I guess James can just do it right now. I got nothing else, man. I mean he looks cool. I don't know him. I don't know his acting chance, I don't know him.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I wonder how old he is. He just looks young, like in his thirties or something, right?
SPEAKER_09Yeah. It looks like he's supposed to be like horse with age.
SPEAKER_05What's his name? I forgot his name already. I was over here, I just moved to type and I forgot his name. Mitchell. I said it was.
SPEAKER_01I'm just gonna copy and paste.
SPEAKER_05Michael Slingert. He is thirty one. Oh yeah, thirty-one. Okay, so he's in his thirties.
SPEAKER_09Corn switch.
SPEAKER_05No, Corn Switzer is in his twenties, right? Except you know, he would have gotten busy back. Back in like what when he was like nineteen or something. Had a kid young as hell.
SPEAKER_09Nightling. And then they're skipping Tam and fucking Jason again, so Yeah, I guess he had a young child.
SPEAKER_05A bastard baby, if you will.
SPEAKER_09I mean, that's cool though.
SPEAKER_05Batman's a deadbeat, I didn't know. I mean, so we can kind of see where it fits, though, right? But you know, obviously it's just one of those things where he's not a known actor.
SPEAKER_09So I mean, we're they're gonna make me fucking watch this landman show.
SPEAKER_05It was in Moss, Wish Upon. Never seen that Diablo Guardian 2.
SPEAKER_09James Gunn must be a fan of like chick-flick shows or chick shows.
SPEAKER_05Carpenter Christmas romance is uh, you know, for me it kind of feels like this is kind of like what his wife would watch or something. Um I don't know. That's fine. It's okay. Wherever he's from, he does look the park. Will he does he have the acting shops? Well, we don't know because we don't know him. But I mean can we say he made a good pick with David Cornswith?
SPEAKER_04Sure.
SPEAKER_05So can can we have a little faith that he can cast a good Batman?
SPEAKER_09Sure.
SPEAKER_05Oh I'm trying I'm trying to be a little breathe a little optimism to the Batman character for you. It's not gonna work.
SPEAKER_09Oh James Gunn's Batman, right? I don't know what to think about any of this.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it can't be all bad, right? Uh let us know what you guys think. Mitchell Slaggart uh is potentially in the running for Batman and Batman the Brave and the Bold. I don't know if he will be good or not. We don't know his acting jobs, and neither I nor Josh. But we are optimistic because we are DC fans, right, Josh? And if you're not optimistic, okay, if it if it takes a little bit out of you to say that, uh maybe Frank Garillo himself can hype you up about man of tomorrow so you can be as excited as the rest of us. Here we go. You know, and his caption says ad Superman, hashtag M O T amazing cast on this film, add DC official ad James.
SPEAKER_09The J the DC hype man over here.
SPEAKER_05I I just you know, it just felt like if there was a red beam on him, it would just make more sense. You know what I'm saying? Like a red laser beam and you know please say, please say these things.
SPEAKER_09I mean that's cool, man. I mean if he was hyped for it, that's cool, you know.
SPEAKER_05And I mean that I didn't really give us much but you know that's this hype you up. What the fuck do you do? No, like I just want you to see the video that they, you know, or at least the lengths that they went this week to basically distract from the doomsday and Spider-Man and all that kind of hype because we not only had that, uh we like I said, we did have the Batman the potential announcement. Um we got a you know the a very hyped up Frank Gorillo. Happy about, you know, the man of tomorrow. Uh it's not on his Instagram anymore, but he did post that. Um, I believe it was late, like literally a couple hours after the doomsday trailer dropped. And then in the beginning of the week, they basically try to make sure that they can uh steer clear from uh Doomsday. Uh right after Monday, right? Doomsday dropped on Monday, Clayface dropped on Tuesday. Uh, we've got a Clayface trailer that, you know, may or may not have made the wrong hype. I know it got Grace Randolph in some trouble for her opinions on what she thought about the movie, um, or at least this trailer. I thought it was hilarious. Uh something about scissors took her out of the movie or something like that. Not 100% sure. Uh, but Josh, we are here at the trailers, okay? And like I said, DC Studios has been trying to make um a lot of noise, all right? Uh unfortunately, we do have the DC Studios logo right here in the corner, so that's yucking up my yum just a little bit here, sir. Uh, but I do know that Clayface has, I don't know if it's been on your radar. Has it been kind of like at least a DC film? I know DC's not been your cup of tea, but as it has it been one of those that you're like, okay, this might be something I might be able to get behind.
SPEAKER_09No, never. If anyone's been paying attention, no, I this is like this is gonna be a joker ripoff. This is not a good look. I'm not fucking with this right off.
SPEAKER_05Okay. And and you haven't seen this, right? No. Okay. Um if it's a joker ripoff, is it not good? Or is it Joker 2 ripoff?
SPEAKER_09I mean, this is I guess, man. I guess if we can get as heartfelt with these villains as we want, you know, and it can be good decent, that's fine.
SPEAKER_05Okay, well let's just jump right in. I'm kind of I'm I'm excited to see your reaction to this, and I kind of want to see what Clayface is gonna be about. Because Peter Saffron did confirm this is the same one that was in Creature Commandos.
SPEAKER_03Show me. Show me What do you want, Miss Hagen?
SPEAKER_02I want my life back.
SPEAKER_04I know you. You're famous.
SPEAKER_12Tragedy and what they did to me.
SPEAKER_02I'd like to volunteer for some drink.
SPEAKER_00It kills me.
SPEAKER_12Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03I have no idea what side effects we'll have or how much we can. We're in unknown territory. I have no idea where you are.
SPEAKER_01Was that the Joker in the end there? What the fuck? My trippin'? I was like right here, right? Oh, Josh, what do you think?
SPEAKER_05What did we think? Oh, see, there it is. I know it. Come on. Reheating Sony's nachos or what?
SPEAKER_09Yeah. This looks like fucking all the worst parts of the fucking uh I got it. It looks like the Joker. No man, that's like the his scarred face trying to heal. I mean I got nothing, bro. It just feels like I'm watching another one of those movies. Like the worst. Morbius? Morbius. Which was also supposed to be a horror movie at one point. I mean, if it I don't think it's rated R. I think it's PG13, right? Yeah, see? They couldn't even go the go the distance with it. They just they just fucking they're being a they're gravifying the shit. So I mean, you wanna fell a body that's more via movie without getting rated R? That's uh apparently a choice.
SPEAKER_05Unless it's not rated yet, but yeah, I mean I'm more I don't know, it's just the way that it's shot. It just makes me feel like it makes me feel venom, you know? Like I know you were saying like, oh, this is just gonna be like a joker ripoff, but I mean this it feels like worse. Like this is This is Morbus.
SPEAKER_09I mean this is clearly a Joker rip-off. He couldn't be a comedian and so he went batshit crazy. Like he can't be an actor anymore, so he's going batshit crazy.
SPEAKER_05Only difference is now he has his motivation is somebody cut up his face.
SPEAKER_09Someone cut up his nice, he's not even getting revenge on the people that did it.
SPEAKER_05So you don't feel like I mean this has to be after they cut his face and him kind of like coming to terms that his face is fucked.
SPEAKER_09Something like that, yeah.
SPEAKER_05You don't think we'll get a good uh performance out of this guy?
SPEAKER_09Maybe that could be what saves the movie.
SPEAKER_05So Clayface doesn't really pique your interest as much? No, no, I don't know me neither. I mean, like I said, it just seems more like down to like if they you know, Sony's nachos was not that good. So the fact that they're reheating those motherfuckers in the first place, you know what I mean? There's no point in in doing this kind of movie. We've talked about this obviously after Supergirl flopped. This has been kind of like a topic of conversation. People are like, oh, you know, the Supergirl doesn't deem anything, it's man of tomorrow. That's where James Gunn's true test is. Okay, fine. If you want to just totally jump clayface, but clayface is supposed to be connected to the DCU. Like I said, Peter Saffron did confirm that this is gonna be a creature commando. This is part of creature commandos, uh, this is clayface from creature commandos. So, if that's the case, then I'm assuming James Gunn has a little bit of a hand in this as well. Um I mean, if he if he only checks in to make sure the needle drops are good, I mean what's the point? But I'm hoping that he checks the whole movie. He's like, just show me the needle drops. I need a I need a don't show me nothing about anything else. I don't care if you know who Clayface is. I don't know if you read the comic. I don't care. Where are the needle drops? I need to hear a song, please. Um, I don't know. I whoa the streaming. Streaming for me.
SPEAKER_09I'm not really interested in giving DC my money right now.
SPEAKER_05Oh man, Clayface though. Uh coming out in October. Supposed to be it October 23rd. That's close to Halloween, so it has to be a horror film. It has to be.
SPEAKER_09That's what they say.
SPEAKER_05Is it do you see yourself on Halloween in theaters watching this movie, Josh? Hell no. Hell no. Uh let us know what you guys think, though. Uh, Clayface is coming out October 23rd. There's a trailer out right now on YouTube. Um, I mean, it seemed like there was so much potential, especially like after The Substance. Like a movie like The Substance coming out and showing you like there's a market for this kind of stuff. Could have really dove deep. But this is, you know, DC's been struggling, and this is supposed to be their answer to their struggle, apparently, of making a random clayface movie in the middle of a Superman saga. Hmm. Interesting. Let us know what you guys think. Moving on, though, we do have another DC trailer, Josh, and that is for lanterns. Well, apparently, we got a full-length trailer after the rumors that we heard about the first episode. Hopefully, that did not scare you. But apparently, this trailer, uh, from what I'm hearing online does it justice. Now, does it do more noise than Marvel and Doomsday? No, unfortunately not. But apparently, it's a good trailer. I don't know. I haven't seen it, but a lot of people online are raving about it, saying that this is the kind of trailer that we needed since the very beginning. Um, are you completely shut out from the lantern show, or are you holding out hope that there is something good behind uh not green because apparently it's silly, but lanterns.
SPEAKER_09I'm hoping something comes good out of this. Save me something from DC at this point. I mean, they're just doing shit, and I'm just gonna be like, all right, man, let's see. You surprise me, bro.
SPEAKER_05No, okay. So we're hoping for the best here. So your mind is still open. Yes. Yes, this is my best. Alright, me too. I I feel like Lant, I mean, it's been getting kind of a harsh rep for me. I feel like it's you know, it's Aaron Pierre. I understand the whole no green stuff, but I'm hoping uh Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre basically knock it out the park. I'm hoping their acting chops alone basically save this. If they're saying this is the trailer that does it, I'm hoping this is the one that does push me through the door. So let's just jump right in and Josh, let's get green.
SPEAKER_11It's time to get up, junior.
SPEAKER_03So we're a space cop.
SPEAKER_11No, I'm just being trained. All right, do let's take the ring. You fly. Just fly. I'm stuck. Fly, please.
SPEAKER_04Here's a backup for a backup.
SPEAKER_12What do you think is gonna be?
SPEAKER_11I have a feeling.
SPEAKER_12I think this is more than just a feeling. No one's ever seen before.
SPEAKER_11What do you know about manhunters?
SPEAKER_12What do you get for it?
SPEAKER_05I'm sorry, I got something to say real quick, okay? And this is only if this is only if Peacemaker season one is canon, like James Gun said. Why are we doing aliens taking over humans again? Why are we doing that shit again? Did we not do that already? Like like does the DCU have a problem with just aliens just taking over people? That sounds scary as fuck. Like, you guys just allow aliens into the atmosphere like this. Like, how Jordan, how long has he been around? Shouldn't he have he helped with that whole bug thing, the butt butterfly shit in Peacemaker Season 1? If this was like his turf, Guy Gardner 2? Like, why are we doing the alien bug shit again on Earth? Why don't you do that shit out in space where it needs to be? Manhunter down on I don't even know who the fuck that is, but it sounds like the bug shit that we got back in the day.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, this is fucking so James Gunn isn't just a one-trick pony, guys. He he's a two-trick pony. He knows how to reheat reheat nachos twice. Fucking stupid well. I mean I okay. Where do I even start? The the stuff that he makes with the lantern ring completely different and a different take, obviously, from Guy Gardner. So it raises the question, what the fuck is he doing? You know what I mean? It looks like they're making it out of dust or sand or something. And Guy Gardner's is an actual construct. What what is that? What is that about? What why is that just an artistic thing? You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_05Two, if that's the case, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_09I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Is Jon Stewart not gonna get a suit or something this whole show? Or in the end, he's gonna earn it. They're clearly setting up how Jordan to be fucking parallax, which I mean I I thought we were done with this trash ass story, but it seems like reheated nachos twice. So this is nachos upon nachos.
SPEAKER_05And then Oh, they're doing parallax again?
SPEAKER_09Dude, they fucking they love parallax. They love that shit. Like, there's no more of a vein and of an existence Green Lantern story than this one. How Jordan becoming a yellow lantern and then probably dying. They love that shit. That's why Sinestro's in prison, most likely. He took the ring from it. He's gonna put it on and they might fight, or he's gonna be like, oh, catch you later in a spin-off. Yeah, and then he finally fucks off. I don't know, dude. I mean, this is just Rhee did not choose upon Rheehe did not choose, and I I'm not interested.
SPEAKER_05No, I mean, I I wanna see. Because I wanna see what they're actually gonna do. Now that, like, you know, exactly what you said, like the construct thing. Like, are we gonna see Guy Gardner's constructs change? Like, are they gonna fit to match? Or like are we just gonna see him as a person and he doesn't really do anything to help these guys? And why is there three lanterns? Like, that's just my thing. I thought it was like one after another, it's supposed to be. I never knew that it was like two lanterns at the same time.
SPEAKER_09And like, look, I don't know much about Green Lantern, so y'all can answer this question for us. But I always thought a lantern had to die to pass the ring off. I didn't know they can retire optionally, or it seems like how jordan is being forced to train someone to force them to force them into retirement. But I thought you had to die to pass the ring. So if I'm wrong, let me know. But I that's what I thought. I I didn't know. And r Guy Gardner isn't threatening. I'm sorry. I don't I didn't find him threatening against Superman. I don't find him threatening now. Who who What? No. I don't find him threatening.
SPEAKER_05I feel like something's gonna I feel like he's gonna have like cancer or something, and he's gonna die from cancer. I feel like he knows his time is gonna end. So he wants to train his replacement. No. I think maybe he gets the yellow ring and maybe that keeps him alive a little bit longer or something later on, but I'm assuming he has some kind of terminal disease that he needs to pass the mantle on because he knows it's gonna pass.
SPEAKER_09No, I think Oh uh I'm probably forcing that motherfucker to do it. Under the guise of replacing it. But because they don't trust him anymore because he took the yellow ring.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Well, I mean, they got a coup a little a little a bit of speculation from us. So I mean I guess the trailer did something, but for the most part I mean I there's a huh?
SPEAKER_09Nothing for me moves the needle. They thought this would compete against a doomsday trailer.
SPEAKER_01Their universe is barely starting.
SPEAKER_09You know what would compete with a doomsday trailer in this day and age? Another Batman trailer. A Wonder Woman. A Man of Tomorrow trailer. Every move they make, he just seems just screams fucking like Oh yeah, I did the right move. Whoa. Like no, you're fucking ridiculous.
SPEAKER_05Well, he they're doing their best over here. They did try to compete on Doomsday Week, and I mean they came out swinging. I will say the trailer, I mean, I am gonna watch this show because it's DC and his Green Lanterns, and I'm probably gonna I I just wanna see what happens. But I will say that I am excited for Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, and it just sucks that we're doing the same storyline that I feel like we've seen already. Um whether it is the the bug stuff from Peacemaker Season 1 or you know parallax happening again, I've we I thought we're gonna be more in space than Earth, and it just seems like we're gonna be on Earth for like a good chunk of the time, and you know why couldn't Yeah, that's the problem.
SPEAKER_09Why couldn't this be on a planet? And I mean if you you can still make it small scale, you can shoot on Earth but space it up, dude. Look like fucking space bars, space anything, space branches, something. Like this could have easily been done on another planet. But they just so boring.
SPEAKER_05So boring I wonder what's in that. I always try to figure it out because this was in the first like trailer too or something. It's like a person in there and he explodes. I wonder I wonder if that's like why he kind of loses the gig because he kind of just murdered somebody in cold blood like that.
SPEAKER_09Watch that be Hal. Why just fucking he just goes up his boat?
SPEAKER_05It's a fake out, it's actually Hal Jordan, that's crazy. Uh but let us know what you guys think. The Lanters trailer is out on YouTube right now. I mean, check it out, let us know. I I'm curious. Um, I believe that's all the DC stuff that we have for this episode, though. So let us know what you guys think about DC as well. Um, I mean, if there's something that if there's a surprise at Comic-Con, you know we'll be talking about it. But as right now, this is all we have. We have a Clayface trailer that looks like a Sony uh Spider-Man villain spin-off movie, and a lantern show that seems like it's just reheated nachos. Let us know what you guys think. Moving on though, moving on, Josh. We have a new trailer, Other Mommy. This one apparently is making a lot of people creep the fuck out. I haven't seen the trailer, uh, but uh, I've been seeing comments, and this they apparently it's making people a little squeamish here. Um, I know that there's not a lot of movies that do that for you. You recently watched Evil Dead Burn, I believe, right? Yes, did you play in front of it? Oh, you it did? Okay, so you probably know already what happens. I haven't seen this trailer. Um are the rumors living, do the rumors live up to the highest.
SPEAKER_09I would say, yeah. I would say this trailer does something interesting and you know brings in the right stuff. As for I mean as for Evil Dead burner.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Like Evil Dead 2013 or less.
SPEAKER_09In essence, like if you were looking for the a step up into that direction, this is it. But it still doesn't reach the market that exactly. But I would put it probably a little bit further than the last one.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Alright, well, let's jump into this one. I haven't seen it, so I hope it lives up to the hype.
SPEAKER_04Hey sweetie, you're home. I had a lunch break. I thought I'd come home and eat with you. Where's that? He fell asleep in the office. I'll go get him, let him sleep. He needs his rest. Cookie dough ice cream for lunch? What kind of mother would I be? How about scrambled eggs? That's right. I forgot. How about pasta? Your favorite. Do you want to know something silly? Yes. Sometimes I think about when you and I were one person. Do you remember that? So as a baby in your tummy. Do you remember where you were before that? No. You were in my heart. Can I go into your heart? You're such a went me five year old. You seem lonely.
SPEAKER_07What were you cooking, fella? You need a grown-up to help you cook. Somebody was in the house.
SPEAKER_04Hey.
unknownIt's me.
SPEAKER_04I'm on.
SPEAKER_05Damn. Speaking of Grace Randolph, she's probably gonna hate this movie because Jessica Chastain is in there, but you know, that's one thing. I I appreciate her acting, and I think she's gonna kill it in this role. I think that looked pretty damn creepy. That was crazy.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. See, that was that was my initial thought too. I thought that looked really good. Like I I have no notes. I've seen it before, dude. I I can't wait for this one for sure.
SPEAKER_05Okay, I'm down for it too. This one was actually really good. Um, they didn't give away too too much. Doesn't really um like there's still that like it. I'm leaving it at this trailer, and I'm gonna walk into this movie because it just gives you just enough to be excited that this is gonna be something a little original, you know what I mean? Um, obviously, we kind of got some some of this stuff with like what is it with the Android mom stuff and everything, like, you know, that's this kind of oldness time kind of things, but I wonder if this is gonna be like a skinwalker or something.
SPEAKER_09Maybe let's leave that speculation. Because if it's not and it's nothing cool like that, I feel like fucking violated.
SPEAKER_05I mean, how would you explain a second person that looks like that person? Alien? See, I would be disappointed if it goes down an alien route. Like if it's an alien, uh that's that's lame. Like we gotta do something different.
SPEAKER_09Like, this is the kind of thing that I was kinda hoping we'd get with like nope. You know what I mean? Is it nope? No, uh, right, right, right, right. I like I thought they'd expand upon it like that. So maybe this is down the same vein.
SPEAKER_05It's coming from Blue House, and I mean they they they were on a roll with obsession, so we'll have to wait and see what happens next. But this one looks pretty good. I'm down for this one. Other mommy, Jessica Chastain. I you know, I haven't seen a lot of Jessica Chastain movies, but she she is pretty decent at acting, so leave her alone, Grace Randolph. I'll fight her. Fight her myself. Uh, but let us know what you guys think. Check out the trailer out right now. Uh, moving on though, Josh, we have a full-length trailer for Resident Evil, which a lot of people are really loving as well. You probably seen the trailer for this one in front of Evil Dead Burn as well, or no, I have not seen this one. All right, well, this one.
SPEAKER_09This one drops specifically for Comic Con.
SPEAKER_05Did it? Okay, okay, okay. You're up to date. I'm up to date. It's good to know. San Diego Comic-Con dropping a Resident Evil trailer. It's kind of gangster. You know, it's it's uh obviously it's a video game movie.
SPEAKER_09It's not gangster is the comments that the director's making, but um we'll get to that. Let's get to that.
SPEAKER_05But we uh we kind of talked about it. He did say he's not going the video game route, like he's gonna have some elements sprinkled in there, but he's keeping a lot of things original.
SPEAKER_09Exactly. And a lot of people are like, well, at that point, let's do something else. I I I might be in the same boat, I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Did you like Resident Evil with Mila Djokovic?
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_05I rest my case.
SPEAKER_09I know that she's not part of it, but at least they had elements of the games in there too. But they're gonna have that in here too. They're not gonna they're not gonna have Leon or anybody like that.
SPEAKER_05What if they do what um Alien Romulus did and just put like a you know, like a video game phone up or something? That wouldn't that's a loot box. Or what if what if they find guns just like in the game, and you know, like unlocking?
SPEAKER_09No, no, no.
SPEAKER_05Okay. You need to see a Jill Valentine. That's what you need to see. You didn't even get her till the second movie.
SPEAKER_09Okay, but we got her. And we got Leon and we got the fool that runs around in the trench coat. What's his name? Nemesis? Like, see like we need people we need that. We need those things.
SPEAKER_05Let's jump right into this.
SPEAKER_08Hey. Hey, man, I gotta be seven. Do you know where I can take this? Uh, excuse me, I got oh my god.
SPEAKER_06Anybody order a kidney or liver, whatever this is. Anybody, it seems like it's kind of important. Hey, you got time for another run?
SPEAKER_08No, I'm I'm wrapped up.
SPEAKER_06Outside the zone so it pays double.
SPEAKER_08I could do that. I'm sorry, the signal sucks here. Can you hear me? I'm gonna stay with Katie for a bit. Michelle, please do not go stay with freaking Katie. My feelings that you don't even care enough to come home and have this conversation. Seriously, I'm working. This could be some eight-year-old boy's heart or someone's mom's brain. There's uh an emergency here. Wondering if I could use your phone.
SPEAKER_07Hey baby, I'm really sorry that we got disconnected earlier. Some things have happened. And I can't get a hold of police. Could you just call me back on this number, please? Yeah, where where was it going again?
SPEAKER_06Raccoon City General.
SPEAKER_07Hey, no sweat.
SPEAKER_05Um I say I liked it. I um I like Barbarian. Weapons was a miss. So this one kind of makes me feel a little funny.
SPEAKER_09That's kind of how I feel. As soon as I saw that weapon uh director from weapons, I was just like, I know, we know, we we were a bit underwhelmed by that. Um he notes?
SPEAKER_05I'm trying to think what's like making me not like it. I I maybe it's because I've seen Barbarian and it like there's elements of it, like the whole house alone, you know, middle of nowhere. Uh we kind of got that in weapons too. So, like, I mean, are we getting to a point where like I'm sorry to say it and I don't want to be the first one to say it, but is that Cracker a one trick pony?
SPEAKER_09Maybe I don't want to slept any other name on this and like it probably would have still been the same outcome. I think the fact that I'm so on the fence is because I'm trying to wrap my head around this and a potential Resident Evil name on it, and it's like I'm getting two different things, I think.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it doesn't feel like Resident Evil. Like just because you say Raccoon City at the end of the thing doesn't make it Resident Evil, it's just a zombie movie.
SPEAKER_09Right. Yeah, I don't know. This is kind of iffy for me. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I'm I want to be excited for it for one.
SPEAKER_09Give me another trailer. Give me another trailer.
SPEAKER_05This is the big Comic Con trailer though.
SPEAKER_09We are getting a lot of people.
SPEAKER_05This is supposed to be your like bread and butter right here. This is this is this is supposed to put your butt in the seat.
SPEAKER_09It's not putting my butt in the seat. If anything, it just makes me want to wait for streaming. Like that's unfortunate.
SPEAKER_05I know. And it just I I feel like left out because I know a lot of people really liked weapons. I feel like, damn. Should I have liked it?
SPEAKER_09Everyone's like, oh, he's the next up and coming, and it's like, I would like to think that. And I'm not gonna lie, weapons was kind of like half and half for me. So yeah, I know, I'm with you. I feel very indifferent.
SPEAKER_05Makes sense. Let us know what you guys think though. Resident Evil, the trailer is out right now on YouTube. Let us know what you guys think. Check that out. Um, I just wanna, you know, I want to move on to this next trailer because I think Josh is gonna be excited. I'm just gonna let you know it's called The Fix and Liam Neeson's in it. Somebody else is in it as well, but I'm not gonna tell you who. You're gonna sit here and you're gonna watch this trailer and we're gonna laugh, probably. I don't know. It's called the Fix. You excited?
SPEAKER_09Yes.
SPEAKER_05Liam Neeson?
SPEAKER_09Liam Neeson and whoever else.
SPEAKER_05Okay, let's get into it.
SPEAKER_12The best collaborative I've ever had. You were born for it. A maid was a very tally with idea, so he sent his family here. They got rejected by some green man that didn't know the code. Abe deserves a medal of honor. He needed a flying out. And let's face it. That's gonna help us.
SPEAKER_02I gotta fix that. I was really messed up when I came back.
SPEAKER_04That's good. I'll let him know next time you have 20 minutes daddy again.
SPEAKER_12Hotel Terra 705.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, it's gonna be a great payback. 25 million out of the wall. It's a five year old. Let's put it seven by the list. Five corners roaming around around. We're gonna need a woman.
SPEAKER_12Three.
SPEAKER_09Look, man, I but if he's taking it seriously this late in the game, man, we can't be mad at this, right?
SPEAKER_05There's a total of ten likes and thumbs ups on this on this one. There's zero comments on this thing, too, by the way.
SPEAKER_01I'm just letting you know.
SPEAKER_09No one's even heard of inaugural entertainment, and it comes out 9-11, oh lord. Yeah, man, that's that's what the people want to watch. They want to watch former military men bust open a heist on 9-11.
SPEAKER_05That is that you only get as a small stick.
SPEAKER_09You have all this year. You have a full range from January to December 2036 to release a movie, and you chose 9-11? I read I that's certainly a date, man, you know.
SPEAKER_05Zachary Levi and Liam Neeson.
SPEAKER_09Liam Neeson.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I are you I don't I got I have nothing with that. I I don't it's hard for me to take Liam Neeson seriously now that he was in the Naked Gun movie. And so like when I was watching it, it was just like, oh, like this is a naked gun too or something. I that that last scene of like just the fact that they just use Acri Levi to kind of like show scenes, but they don't like show him like speaking or anything is actually kind of funny to me. Like it there's like speaking lines because obviously he's like the star, but like he it's like so low and muff like like he's the weakest tough guy I've ever seen in my life. Like, there's no way that they they gave him this spot. Like that's crazy to me. Oh, that scene right there. Look, look at this little running zine he does. Pay attention to it, hold on. It looked like he was running with a shit in his ass. I don't know what's going on. Um yeah. Are you watching the fix? I don't on 911. I don't think so.
SPEAKER_09This isn't this isn't what I send up for.
SPEAKER_05If you want a good movie that's probably gonna, you know, potentially make your top five worst films of 2026. This might this might be the play. You might have me beat with this one. You might have me beat with this one if you do it. Just saying.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, man. Let me endure. A comedy. A forced comedy.
SPEAKER_05Oh boy. It's a dramedy. Okay. Let us know what you guys think though. Check out the trailer, they'll fix. It's out right now.
SPEAKER_01Holy shit, that was crazy.
SPEAKER_05Alright, Josh. Two more trailers. We're almost out of here. Alright. Johnny Depp, Ian McKellen, Ebenazer, uh, Scrooge, basically. Uh, this one was dropped for Comic-Con as well. Uh, this is Johnny Depp's first big role. It's coming from Paramount. All right. His first big major role since the shitting in the bed incident. And it wasn't him who shit in the bed. It was Amber Heard. Um, this could be, this could very well be his comeback. This could be the movie that puts him back into stardom, makes everybody love him again. But I gotta be honest, my Ebenezer Scrooge is Johnny Depp, so this is kind of not Johnny Depp, um Jim Carrey. Yeah. So this is gonna be kind of tough for me a little bit.
SPEAKER_09I don't know. I think with two of them coming out, I think I think they're both rebooting. They're both both of the story's getting retold twice this year, I think.
SPEAKER_05Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_09So, I mean, if I had to pick, I'm probably going with the Johnny Depp one.
SPEAKER_05Who's in the other one?
SPEAKER_09I don't know.
SPEAKER_05You could probably look it up while we check out this trailer, but let's check it out. Let's see if this one will have enough um enough gasoline in it to at least get Johnny Depp back into the good graces of the limelight, right? Uh let's go.
SPEAKER_08Merry Christmas!
SPEAKER_05Okay, I like that they put there like all the roles that he just owned and made him his, like Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissor hands, and all that stuff. It's great. He he is the master at like dressing up and just making the role his own. So I mean I really do have high hopes for this film after this trailer, so yeah.
SPEAKER_09I'm I'm down. Uh is this the one directed by T West?
SPEAKER_10Or yeah.
SPEAKER_09Okay, so it's this one which is Ebony's air, Evan's girl. And then the other one.
SPEAKER_01Robert Angers at Werewolf.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_09I don't know if you're talking about this year or not, but uh Okay.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, I mean I kind of enjoyed this trailer. I'm down for this trailer. Uh might be another classic. I like how it's kind of you know, it's it's Christmassy, but it's not shying away from the horror stuff. Which is kind of cool.
SPEAKER_09It looks cool. I mean I am down. It doesn't look too bad.
SPEAKER_01The humbug was good.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, it does great.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't see anything about a release date or anything like that.
SPEAKER_09So maybe they won't have to compete. But I mean, I like it. I like the trailer. Oh bad.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I'm I'm down. Maybe his is gonna go more old timey and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_09But yeah, they're gonna speak, you know him. He's he's in that bag right now where he he's doing old-timey stuff and they all talk the from the century and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_05You know, I don't want to compare it to a different one, but this one kind of seems like it's going, like I said, that horror route where like, you know, with Christmas Carol has always been kind of more tamed, and like they try to they try to add those elements, but it's not as heavy-handed. This one seems like this one's a little heavier hand. What if this one's prepping for whatever we're gonna get with Robert Edgers? Because that one's gonna be for sure a horror film.
SPEAKER_09Maybe, maybe we don't know, man. We don't know. We're just gonna have to wait and see. Yes, I would say so.
SPEAKER_05Alright, we're down. Johnny Depp coming back. I can't wait. Um, and last but not least, Josh, our final trailer comes from director himself, Chris Rock. Okay, Misty Green. Uh the last thing I believe he, you know, he directed was Jigsaw. So here we are. Misty Green. Um, are you excited to see Chris Rock directed trailer?
SPEAKER_09Let's get into it. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Who the fuck are you? This is my husband's apartment. No, he said I could have it. Okay, it's over. Now, best sporting actress, Misty Green. Is that you? Give you a week to get your stuff together. I'm broke. It's not just me though. I got my brother.
SPEAKER_07Misty, I'm a med, and I'm gonna get a job. I'm good. I get it. It's tough out there.
SPEAKER_08I don't even know if I can get you a law on order right now. The last time I asked you, you punched this bitch in the face. She hit me first. For the record, I quit due to creative difference.
SPEAKER_04I wake up when I wanna wake up. I sleep when I wanna sleep, I get a high when I wanna get a high, and I fuck when I wanna fuck. I didn't know you were a little lame, it's a fool.
SPEAKER_08You're not exactly an unknown, Misty. Is probably it's racist? Yep, wait a minute, excuse me, less. Is it sexist? Fuck yeah, it is. I'm looking for open-minded friends who might want to make a little extra cash. Don't act like you never had a shot.
SPEAKER_11But is it Mr. Green?
SPEAKER_04I would like to finish my audition if it isn't too much trouble. Alright.
SPEAKER_08I saw you singing at the Roosevelt the other night. Dusting your brother? Yeah. Oh, it's him. Yeah, it's fine.
SPEAKER_04You okay? I really can't do this anymore. I love that. Writing the line between hoe and hostess come out.
SPEAKER_08We need to keep our eyes on the prize here. Okay, go in there tomorrow. Read, sing, kill.
SPEAKER_03You got one line.
SPEAKER_05Does not disappoint. Pretty stacked cast, too, not gonna lie. Daniel Kaluya and Akendrick Topher Grace, Adam Driver. I don't know. I mean, Rosalind Elzar is like the main person, but I I don't think I've ever heard of her.
SPEAKER_09But I mean, pretty stacked, right? Yeah, no. I I was like, damn, everybody in this motherfucker. And I was trying to see if um they were gonna be like playing themselves or if they're gonna do like you know, have names. Like, are they just being themselves? And like, yeah. Adam Driver's the only one going by someone else, and then it's her, Missy Green, and then everyone else is it literally says Daniel Kalua, Anna Kendrick, Topha Grace, Chris Rock, like the eight's not giving me their names for the roles that they're in. So I'm assuming they're all playing themselves.
SPEAKER_05That's pretty cool though. Not too bad. I mean, Chris Rock hasn't really directed anything. The last time we really talked about him was when Will Smith decided to give him the fucking right hand to the face. Um him coming out swinging with a successful movie, possibly. I mean, it looks good from what I see.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. I would say it looks pretty good. Can't wait. Can't wait to see that.
SPEAKER_05Were you a little surprised that he, you know, put himself in the film?
SPEAKER_09Yeah. I mean, he needs work. Actually, I think a lot of these people look like they need work. I I haven't seen Anna Kendrick or anything. I think she's been in trolls for the past couple of times. Adam Driver hasn't done much either after being in talk for Mr. Sinister. Anna Kalua, where the fuck has he been? He he did he did nope and then he got out of there.
SPEAKER_05No, he did um that Romeo and Juliet one. That one was good.
SPEAKER_09Did he? Was he in that one?
SPEAKER_05You don't remember? It was like um it was it was like uh it was like a uh a ghetto Romeo and Juliet in my opinion.
SPEAKER_09Oh I don't know.
SPEAKER_05What's it called? Oh, uh not that one. Queen and Slim. Oh, he was in Judas and the Messiah, too. Oh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_09I don't know where you want to- I thought his last name thing was nope and then he just didn't slim is a really good film.
SPEAKER_05I bought that one on Blu-ray. That one's that one. If you want a good movie to watch with CJ, I think you should watch that one with her for sure. I need I still I've been watching or I seen the Judas and the Black Messiah somewhere. I was like, I'm gonna watch that one, but I just never got around to it. Forgot about it. But yeah, he's been in a few things. Anna Kendrick, I give you Tover Grace for sure. I've not seen him in a while. Adam Driver, well, he did 65 and he dipped. So it was like out of the limelight, so make people make people forget about that one just a little bit. So it is what it is. And Chris Rock, I mean, he does it, isn't it doing an animated version of the Everybody Hates Chris?
SPEAKER_09Oh yeah, nobody watching that shit.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I just watched the original. But yeah, it looks good. I'd be down for it. Misty Green. Josh needs to watch Queen and Slim. It's on his list now. It needs to be. Make sure you make sure you look at TJ and Teller right now. Uh while I'm giving away this last few words here. So this is gonna be our last topic for this episode. Any movies you want us to review, TV shows, uh, any topics we should be talking about that we just did not get around to. Uh Josh, let them know where they can talk to us and do all that great stuff.
SPEAKER_09Uh Twitter, TikTok, Instagram at FanBros Podcast. Appreciate it. This does anywhere to podcast at Famborough Podcast.
SPEAKER_05And with that being said, we'll talk to you guys on the next one.
SPEAKER_09Talk to you guys again.
