Overcoming Emetophobia: Why work with a Licensed Thrive Programme Coach?

EmetophobiaFree

Fiona Brown, one of the longest standing Thrive Programme coaches joins Michelle Johnson on the podcast this week to talk about the Emetophobia-Free coaching programme.

Key questions:

What does the coaching programme look like?
The coaching programme is 6-8 weeks in length followed by a back-up session 6 weeks after the sessions are completed. Each session is between 60 and 90 minutes.

What does the coaching programme feel like?
The sessions are unlike traditional therapy. They are chatty and relaxed and the client should come away feeling motivated & empowered.  There is no going over past events or dragging up painful or difficult past memories. The sessions are entirely forward facing and focused on what you are doing in the here and now to create and maintain your fear so that you can make changes moving forward.

What are the benefits of the coaching programme compared to doing the programme by yourself?
1.It is more predictable as the coach can ensure you can find and place the pieces of the puzzle correctly.
2.The coach helps you gain perspective. Sometimes it can be difficult to see things from a different angle when you have only ever thought about it in a scary, terrifying way.
3.The coach keeps you accountable. They will work hard with you to keep you focused, motivated and on track and let you know if you are not putting in the effort needed to get yourself over your fear.
4.The coach gets how HUGE overcoming Emetophobia is. The coach is there to share your wins and celebrate successes that other people may not appreciate.

What if I can't afford the coaching programme?
Ultimately the programme is an investment in you and your life Emetophobia-Free. What would you say a life without your Emetophobia is worth? The cost of the coaching programme is less than the cost of the latest iPhone and most coaches offer payment plans so you can pay in a way that suits you.

Does it matter who I go through the programme with?
The short answer is no. It doesn’t matter who you go through the programme with as long as you build a good relationship with that person and feel able to talk openly with them.

Emetophobia is the fear of vomiting/sickness: either yourself, other people, or both. Research suggests 0.1 to 8.8% percent of the population have a fear of being sick (Hout & Bouman, 2011). Emetophobia is a debilitating phobia, which significantly impacts your life: sufferers are chronically anxious and go to great lengths to avoid encountering anything sickness-related, which provides temporary relief but often results in a rollercoaster of anxiety, fear and exhaustion. Issues associated with emetophobia include: OCD, eating difficulties, anxiety-related gastric problems, phagophobia, tocophobia and more. Our goal is to raise awareness of this severe phobia and provide a solution for sufferers and their families.

You do not need to live with Emetophobia - you can COMPLETELY overcome it. The Thrive Programme for Emetophobia (also known as Emetophobia-Free) is the single most successful and predictable method for getting rid of your emetophobia. It has helped over 20,000 emetophobes around the world overcome their phobia.
