64: Suicide Intervention - How You Can Help Save a Life (Part 1 of 2)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Trigger Warning: The topic of suicide is discussed in this episode. Please decide for yourself whether or not you have the emotional capacity to listen at this time. If you skip it for now but feel differently later, you can always come back to it. The most important thing is that you prioritize your own mental health.
In this episode I discuss why suicide intervention is important, as well as the idea that you are not expected to do this alone. Lastly, I teach about the first, most crucial step of suicide intervention, which is: Asking the person directly, "Are you thinking about suicide?" If you want to move from asking the question to helping a person share their story and turn towards hope and life, please listen to part 2 (episode #65).
Please share this episode with your family or friends, whether they work in schools or not! So we can help people feel more prepared to potentially save someone's life.
