About Carden Park:
The vineyard at Carden Park is well known as Cheshire’s largest commercial vineyard. Its story dates back to 1988 when the majority of vines were planted. In 2008 the‚ 4,000 vines were reinstated at the estate and much care was taken to grow them to their former glory.

After lots of hard work and much nurturing, the three acre vineyard is able to produce up to 6,000 bottles of Carden Park Estate Reserve sparkling wine each year from the two grape varieties grown, Seyval Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Each year, in October or early November, the grapes are harvested by our estates team. Working with HalfPenny Green winemakers of South Staffordshire, the grapes are then put through a fermentation process to produce the bottles of Carden Park Estate Reserve.

If you would like to try a glass of Carden Park Estate Reserve sparkling wine, it is available throughout the hotel restaurants and bars. Alternatively, bottles are available to purchase and take home as a souvenir.

In 2021, our fine dining restaurant opened its doors, inheriting the name ‘The Vines’, inspired by our vineyard. As well as the unforgettable cuisine prepared by our award-winning chefs, you will have the opportunity to sample an incredible selection of wines, including our Carden Estate Reserve, during your dining experience at The Vines.

Standout Quote: "We sell the experience. It's the story behind the wine that we know. We can allow you to travel to that place without even moving from a table."

Take Aways:
 • Consider exploring wines from emerging regions like Armenia, Eastern Europe, and Poland.
 • Embrace native grape varieties when trying wines from these regions.
 • Don't shy away from asking the sommelier for recommendations within your budget range.
 • Engage with the sustainability and green practices adopted by smaller vineyards.
 • Share your thoughts and aha moments from the episode in the comments or leave a review to support the podcast.
