Kylie Kelly [00:00:00]:
Here is the truth. Business is easier when you're in the right rooms, surrounding yourself with people who are already playing at the level that you want to be at.

Kylie Kelly [00:00:12]:
Are you a female business owner frustrated with battling the algorithm and looking for growth strategies that don't involve awkwardly pointing or dancing online or throwing cash at paid ads? Welcome to the Email Growth Show. I'm your host, Kylie Kelly, visibility and email marketing strategist. I grew my email list from zero to almost 10,000 subscribers subscribers in less.

Kylie Kelly [00:00:32]:
Than 2 years, and the same is possible for you too.

Kylie Kelly [00:00:35]:
Are you ready to build your email list and start making more money in your online business? Let's head into today's episode.

Kylie Kelly [00:00:44]:
Hey, hey, welcome back to the Email Growth Show. I'm your host, Kylie Kelly, and today we're talking about something that might just be the reason you're feeling stuck in your business. You're showing up, you're putting in the work, you're posting on social media, maybe even sending some emails, but it feels like no one's paying attention, like you're talking into the void. And let me tell you, you are not alone. I see so many incredible business owners doing all the things, but they're still struggling to get seen, get known, and get paid. And it's not because they aren't talented or hardworking or deserving. It's because they're making a few key mistakes when it comes to visibility. And these mistakes, they're keeping them stuck at the same level year after year.

Kylie Kelly [00:01:25]:
So today I'm breaking down the biggest visibility mistakes that I see, and more importantly, how to fix them so you can start actually getting noticed, growing your audience, and making more sales. And before we dive in, if you're ready to stop playing small and finally become the go-to name in your industry, the doors to my Headliner Mastermind is open right now. I'll share more details at the end, but if you want to accelerate your visibility and scale your business with strategy and support, this is for you. The link to check out more is in the show notes. Let's get into it. Mistake number 1: relying too much on social media. Listen, I love social media for what it can do, but if you're treating it like your only visibility strategy, you're setting yourself up for frustration. Social media is unpredictable.

Kylie Kelly [00:02:09]:
The algorithm is not your friend, and if you are depending on Instagram or TikTok to drive consistent growth, you're basically building your business on rented land. Another issue, you are competing with so much noise. The average Instagram user scrolls past hundreds of posts every day. How many of them do you actually remember? If you are not intentionally directing your audience off social media and into an environment that you can control, i.e., your email list, you're missing out on long-term relationships and revenue. The fix? If you enjoy social media, start treating it like a traffic driver rather than your entire marketing plan. Your focus should be on owning your audience, which means getting people onto your email list, leveraging SEO-driven content, and using collaborations—more on that in a minute—to expand your reach in a sustainable way, in a way that doesn't burn you the fuck out, right? Now, speaking of collaborations, mistake number 2 is avoiding collaborations and PR opportunities. If you're only marketing to your existing audience, you're missing out on massive opportunities for growth. I see so many business owners afraid to pitch themselves for podcasts, summits, or bundles because they think they need to be bigger first.

Kylie Kelly [00:03:17]:
That is not true. When you collaborate, you're tapping into an audience that's already engaged and actively looking for what you offer. These people trust the host or the organizer that you're partnering with. So when they introduce you, it's an instant credibility boost. So the fix, start leveraging collaborations because this is where the magic truly happens. Over the last year, I've added thousands of new aligned subscribers to my list simply by participating or hosting summits, bundles, and freebie swaps. And the best part, it's a win-win. You're providing value while also tapping into a warm, engaged audience that's already interested in what you do.

Kylie Kelly [00:03:53]:
So a few ways to get started. Apply to speak on podcasts in your niche, in your industry. Join a digital bundle or a summit. Collaborate on a freebie swap with another business owner that also serves your ideal clients in a complementary way. The key is to get your name in front of other audiences instead of waiting for people to find you. Now, mistake number 3 is not leveraging your email list properly. Maybe you've been growing your list, but you're not emailing them consistently. Or maybe when you do email, it's only when you're launching something, so your audience forgets who you are in between.

Kylie Kelly [00:04:27]:
Your email list is your most powerful business asset, but only if you actually use it. So the fix? Stop waiting for the perfect moment to email. Start showing up now. Start to share your stories, your insights, your tips consistently. Your subscribers signed up to hear from you, so please do not ghost them. Now, mistake number 4 is being afraid to sell. Selling doesn't have to feel gross. The problem isn't selling itself, it's how you are doing it.

Kylie Kelly [00:04:57]:
If you only pitch when you are desperate for sales, of course it's going to feel forced. Of course it's going to feel like shit, right? So I want you to stop doing that and start making selling a natural part of your content. Think of it like an invitation. You're literally just inviting your perfect people to work with you in a deeper way, right? To get a win, to actually help them with the transformation, with the promise that you offer. Talk about your offers in your weekly emails, share behind-the-scenes stories, give examples of how your program or service has helped people. The more you can normalize mentioning your offers, the less awkward it feels, for you and for your audience. And lastly, mistake number 5, trying to do it all alone. If you are trying to figure out your entire visibility strategy solo, you're probably spinning your wheels and wasting so much time.

Kylie Kelly [00:05:44]:
Because here is the truth, business is easier when you're in the right rooms. Surrounding yourself with people who are already playing at the level that you want to be at, it's going to accelerate your growth big time. So I want you to find a mastermind, a mentor, or a coach who can help you make strategic decisions that will hold you accountable and connect you with the right opportunities. Enough of signing up to freebies that just sit in your fucking Gmail waiting for you to look at them again, right? I can also share, I have an email folder full of things that I have even purchased that I've never looked at because nobody is there holding me accountable to it, right? It's a great idea at the time. I've got great intentions. It could be really powerful, but because there's no accountability, it just sits there forgotten. So instead, we're going to find a mastermind, find a mentor, find a coach who can help you make decisions and that will hold you accountable to take action, because that is when we are going to see the needle truly move. So they are the 5 mistakes.

Kylie Kelly [00:06:41]:
Just to recap, mistake number 1, relying too much on social media. We're going to start treating social like a traffic driver rather than our entire marketing plan. Mistake number 2, avoiding collaborations and PR opportunities. Instead, we are going to start leveraging them and getting ourselves in front of other audiences. Mistake number 3 is not leveraging your email list properly. We're not going to wait for that perfect moment to email. We're going to start showing up now. We're going to share our stories, our insights, our tips consistently, and we're not going to ghost our subscribers.

Kylie Kelly [00:07:14]:
Mistake number 4, being afraid to sell. We're going to normalize mentioning our offers in our emails so that we get used to talking about it. So that we can invite more money into our business. And lastly, we're going to stop trying to do it all alone. We are going to find a mastermind, a mentor, a coach who's going to help us make strategic decisions, hold us accountable, and connect us with the right opportunities. So if you're nodding along thinking, yep, I'm making some of these mistakes, then my love, now is the time to change that. That's exactly why I created my Mastermind Headliner. It's a 6-month mastermind for ambitious women who are ready to step into their next level, get visible in the right way, and start seeing real results.

Kylie Kelly [00:07:55]:
Inside, we're focusing on strategic, sustainable visibility that actually moves the needle, whether that's through collaborations, PR, list building, or authority building strategies that position you as a go-to expert in your space.
